The Biden-Harris Administration Advances Equity and Opportunity for Black Americans
Growing Economic Opportunity for Black Families and Communities Through the President’s legislative victories, including the American Rescue Plan (ARP), the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL), the CHIPS and Science Act, and the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA)—as well as the President’s historic executive orders on racial equity—the Biden-Harris Administration is ensuring that federal investments through the President’s landmark Investing in America agenda are equitably flowing to communities to address longstanding economic inequities that impact people’s economic security, health, and safety. And this vision is already delivering results. The Biden-Harris Administration has:
Powered a historic economic recovery that created 2.6 million jobs for Black workers—and achieved both the lowest Black unemployment rate on record and the lowest gap between Black and White unemployment on record.
Helped Black working families build wealth. Black wealth is up by 60% relative to pre-pandemic—the largest increase on record.
Cut in half the number of Black children living in poverty in 2021 through ARP’s Child Tax Credit expansion. This expansion provided breathing room to the families of over 9 million Black children.
Began reversing decades of infrastructure disinvestment, including with $4 billion to reconnect communities that were previously cut off from economic opportunities by building needed transportation infrastructure in underserved communities, including Black communities.
Connected an estimated 5.5 million Black households to affordable high-speed internet through the Affordable Connectivity Program, closing the digital divide for millions of Black families.
Helping Black-Owned Businesses Grow and Thrive Since the President entered office, a record 16 million new business applications have been filed, and the share of Black households owning a business has more than doubled. Building on this momentum, the Biden-Harris Administration has:
Achieved the fastest creation rate of Black-owned businesses in more than 30 years—and more than doubled the share of Black business owners from 2019 to 2022.
Improved the Small Business Administration’s (SBA) flagship loan guarantee programs to expand the availability of capital to underserved communities. Since 2020, the number and dollar value of SBA-backed loans to Black-owned businesses have more than doubled.
Launched a whole-of-government effort to expand access to federal contracts for small businesses, awarding a record $69.9 billion to small disadvantaged businesses in 2022.
Through Treasury’s State Small Business Credit Initiative, invested $10 billion to expand access to capital and invest in early-stage businesses in all 50 states—including $2.5 billion in funding and incentive allocations dedicated to support the provision of capital to underserved businesses with $1 billion of these funds to be awarded to the jurisdictions that are most successful in reaching underserved businesses.
Helped more than 37,000 farmers and ranchers who were in financial distress, including Black farmers and ranchers, stay on their farms and keep farming, thanks to resources provided through IRA. The IRA allocated $3.1 billion for the Department of Agriculture (USDA) to provide relief for distressed borrowers with at-risk agricultural operations with outstanding direct or guaranteed Farm Service Agency loans. USDA has provided over $2 billion and counting in timely assistance.
Supported small and disadvantaged businesses through CHIPS Act funding by requiring funding applicants to develop a workforce plan to create equitable pathways for economically disadvantaged individuals in their region, as well as a plan to support procurement from small, minority-owned, veteran-owned, and women-owned businesses.
Created the $27 billion Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund that will invest in clean energy projects in low-income and disadvantaged communities.
Increasing Access to Housing and Rooting Out Discrimination in the Housing Market for Black Communities To increase access to housing and root out discrimination in the housing market, including for Black families and communities, the Biden-Harris Administration has:
Set up the first-ever national infrastructure to stop evictions, scaling up the ARP-funded Emergency Rental Assistance program in over 400 communities across the country, helping 8 million renters and their families stay in their homes. Over 40% of all renters helped are Black—and this support prevented millions of evictions, with the largest effects seen in majority-Black neighborhoods.
Published a proposed “Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing” rule through the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), which will help overcome patterns of segregation and hold states, localities, and public housing agencies that receive federal funds accountable for ensuring that underserved communities have equitable access to affordable housing opportunities.
Created the Interagency Task Force on Property Appraisal and Valuation Equity, or PAVE, a first-of-its-kind interagency effort to root out bias in the home appraisal process, which is taking sweeping action to advance equity and remove racial and ethnic bias in home valuations, including cracking down on algorithmic bias and empowering consumers to take action against misvaluation.
Taken additional steps through HUD to support wealth-generation activities for prospective and current homeowners by expanding access to credit by incorporating a borrower’s positive rental payment history into the mortgage underwriting process. HUD estimates this policy change will enable an additional 5,000 borrowers per year to qualify for an FHA-insured loan.
Ensuring Equitable Educational Opportunity for Black Students To expand educational opportunity for the Black community in early childhood and beyond, the Biden-Harris Administration has:
Approved more than $136 billion in student loan debt cancellation for 3.7 million Americans through various actions and launched a new student loan repayment plan—the Saving on a Valuable Education (SAVE) plan—to help many students and families cut in half their total lifetime payments per dollar borrowed.
Championed the largest increase to Pell Grants in the last decade—a combined increase of $900 to the maximum award over the past two years, affecting the over 60% of Black undergraduates who rely on Pell grants.
Fixed the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program, so all qualified borrowers get the debt relief to which they are entitled. More than 790,000 public servants have received more than $56 billion in loan forgiveness since October 2021. Prior to these fixes, only 7,000 people had ever received forgiveness through PSLF.
Delivered a historic investment of over $7 billion to support HBCUs.
Reestablished the White House Initiative on Advancing Educational Equity, Excellence, and Economic Opportunity for Historically Black Colleges and Universities and the White House Initiative on Advancing Educational Equity, Excellence, and Economic Opportunity for Black Americans.
Through ARP, secured $130 billion—the largest investment in public education in history—to help students get back to school, recover academically in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, and address student mental health.
Secured a 30% increase in child care assistance funding last year. Black families comprise 38% of families benefiting from federal child care assistance. Additionally, the President secured an additional $1 billion for Head Start, a program where more than 28% of children and pregnant women who benefit identify as Black.
Improving Health Outcomes for Black Families and Communities To improve health outcomes for the Black community, the Biden-Harris Administration has:
Increased Black enrollment in health care coverage through the Affordable Care Act by 49%—or by around 400,000—from 2020 to 2022, helping more Black families gain health insurance than ever before.
Through IRA, locked in lower monthly premiums for health insurance, capped the cost of insulin at $35 per covered insulin product for Medicare beneficiaries, and helped further close the gap in access to medication by improving prescription drug coverage and lowering drug costs in Medicare.
Through ARP, expanded postpartum coverage from 60 days to 12 months in 43 states and Washington, D.C., covering 700,000 more women in the year after childbirth. Medicaid covers approximately 65% of births for Black mothers, and this investment is a critical step to address maternal health disparities.
Financed projects that will replace hundreds of thousands of lead pipes, helping protect against lead poisoning that disproportionately affects Black communities.
Provided 264 grants with $1 billion in Bipartisan Safer Communities Act funds to more than 40 states to increase the supply of school-based mental health professionals in communities with high rates of poverty.
Launched An Unprecedented Whole-Of-Government Equity Agenda to Ensure the Promise of America for All Communities, including Black Communities President Biden believes that advancing equity, civil rights, racial justice, and equal opportunity is the responsibility of the whole of our government, which will require sustained leadership and partnership with all communities. To make the promise of America real for every American, including for the Black Community, the President has:
Signed two Executive Orders directing the Federal Government to advance an ambitious whole-of-government equity agenda that matches the scale of the challenges we face as a country and the opportunities we have to build a more perfect union.
Nominated the first Black woman to serve on the Supreme Court and more Black women to federal circuit courts than every President combined.
Countered hateful attempts to rewrite history including: the signing of the Emmett Till Antilynching Act; establishing Juneteenth as a national holiday; and designating the Emmett Till and Mamie Till-Mobley National Monument in Mississippi and Illinois. The Department of the Interior has invested more than $295 million in infrastructure funding and historic preservation grants to protect and restore places significant to Black history.
Created the Justice40 Initiative, which is delivering 40% of the overall benefits of certain Federal investments in clean energy, affordable and sustainable housing, clean water, and other programs to disadvantaged communities that are marginalized by underinvestment and overburdened by pollution as part of the most ambitious climate, conservation, and environmental justice agenda in history.
Protecting the Sacred Right to Vote for Black Families and Communities Since their first days in office, President Biden and Vice President Harris have prioritized strengthening our democracy and protecting the sacred right to vote in free, fair, and secure elections. To do so, the President has:
Signed an Executive Order to leverage the resources of the Federal Government to provide nonpartisan information about the election process and increase access to voter registration. Agencies across the Federal Government are taking action to respond to the President’s call for an all-of-government effort to enhance the ability of all eligible Americans to participate in our democracy.
Repeatedly and forcefully called on Congress to pass essential legislation, including the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act and the Freedom to Vote Act, including calling for an exception to the filibuster to pass voting rights legislation.
Increased funding for the Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division, which has more than doubled the number of voting rights enforcement attorneys. The Justice Department also created the Election Threats Task Force to assess allegations and reports of threats against election workers, and investigate and prosecute these matters where appropriate.
Signed into law the bipartisan Electoral Reform Count Act, which establishes clear guidelines for our system of certifying and counting electoral votes for President and Vice President, to preserve the will of the people and to protect against the type of attempts to overturn our elections that led to the January 6 insurrection.
Addressing the Crisis of Gun Violence in Black Communities Gun violence has become the leading cause of death for all youth and Black men in America, as well as the second leading cause of death for Black women. To address this national crisis, the President has:
Launched the first-ever White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention, and taken more executive action on gun violence than any President in history, including investments in violence reduction strategies that address the root causes of gun violence and address emerging threats like ghost guns. In 2022, the Administration’s investments in evidence-based, lifesaving programs combined with aggressive action to stop the flow of illegal guns and hold shooters accountable yielded a 12.4% reduction in homicides across the United States.
Signed into the law the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, the most significant gun violence reduction legislation enacted in nearly 30 years, including investments in violence reduction strategies and historic policy changes to enhance background checks for individuals under age 21, narrow the dating partner loophole in the gun background check system, and provide law enforcement with tools to crack down on gun trafficking.
Secured the first-ever dedicated federal funding stream for community violence intervention programs, which have been shown to reduce violence by as much as 60%. These programs are effective because they leverage trusted messengers who work directly with individuals most likely to commit gun violence, intervene in conflicts, and connect people to social, health and wellness, and economic services to reduce the likelihood of violence as an answer to conflict.
Enhancing Public Trust and Strengthening Public Safety for Black Communities Our criminal justice system must protect the public and ensure fair and impartial justice for all. These are mutually reinforcing goals. To enhance equal justice and public safety for all communities, including the Black community, the President has:
Signed a historic Executive Order to put federal policing on the path to becoming the gold standard of effectiveness and accountability by requiring federal law enforcement agencies to ban chokeholds; restrict no-knock warrants; mandate the use of body-worn cameras; implement stronger use-of-force policies; provide de-escalation training; submit use-of-force data; submit officer misconduct records into a new national accountability database; and restrict the sale or transfer of military equipment to local law enforcement agencies, among other things.
Taken steps to right the wrongs stemming from our Nation’s failed approach to marijuana by directing the Departments of Health and Human Services and Justice to expeditiously review how marijuana is scheduled under federal law and in October 2022 issued categorical pardons of prior federal and D.C. offenses of simple possession of marijuana and in December 2023 pardoned additional offenses of simple possession and use of marijuana under federal and D.C. law. While white, Black, and brown people use marijuana at similar rates, Black and brown people have been arrested, prosecuted, and convicted at disproportionately higher rates.
Announced over 100 concrete policy actions as part of a White House evidence-informed, multi-year Alternatives, Rehabilitation, and Reentry Strategic Plan to safely reduce unnecessary criminal justice system interactions so police officers can focus on fighting crime; supporting rehabilitation during incarceration; and facilitating successful reentry.

Mom's dog Orion used to be like that, he's still bad but he's getting better. Basically we touch and sort of "massage" his feet daily to get them used to handling, usually when he's relaxed and feeling good. Then when it comes to the actual trimming, I give him a half a training treat after each nail. I'll do one foot, then give him a day, do another foot, that way I don't hit his limit and he learns to tolerate it over time. As for training treats, you can either make Tuna Fudge and cut it down to a smaller, nibblet size, or I get Bil-Jac's America's Vet Dogs training treats, since it benefits disabled veterans, getting them service animals.
Here's a picture of the little guy, he's a little smaller than Egon I imagine. Hopefully the advice helps
I can't get Egon to the groomer in a timely fashion so we are saddled with the grim task of trimming his nails at home wish me luck
#He's still a grumbly fuck about it#demands lots of attention after the “traumatic experience”#but at least he is cute so he gets a pass on that

after a-Lan's birth in the Meishi, lqr is doing everything he can to make sure that qin su!wwx is having a-Chun in the medical area with lots of doctors. The joke's on him, though wwx went to go and dip his feet in the hot springs next to the Hanshi and went into labor. He's going to be 3/3 in having a baby in his house, his bil's house, and his uncle-in-law's house.
Lan Xichen, veteran parent: Difu, a reminder: don't go into the hot spring within a month of your due date. The hot water might make the baby come a few weeks early.

Curious on your thoughts. So to me I think Buck is the heart of 118 but I always am biased because I heart eye everything about him. Even if its him stomping around with a chain saw. But honestly is their really another character with more strings attached to everyone or is it me?
Like Athena being soft and telling him what Buck means to her. Bobby clearly stepping in as a father figure. The Buckley siblings are goals, like JHC that scene running to her in the snow. We all know the Eddie Christopher bond. Even Albert was his roommate. Being Ravis mentor.
Sure Hen and Chim are ride or dies but Hen loves her Buckaroo. Even if Chim stays mad he still has to contend with the fact thats his BIL.
But it all leads me to believe whatever catalyst is coming in 5B is Buck centric and possibly an injury that leads them all running to the same place. The heart of the team you know. Mostly I just want Buck to get the attention he deserves but also can people please stop hitting him!!!
Hi Nonnie! Thank you for the ask!
Awwww, I love Buck with my whole heart, and I agree with you that he's both one of the veteran characters, having deep and meaningful bonds with the other veterans, and has a very significant bond with newer ones as well. I do think s1 was to a great degree the story of Buck's growth and him choosing to be Buck 2.0 rather than Buck 1.0, a choice he consciously states in s2. He's not the only character to have a significant arc in that season, but he's the only one whose arc is present and developing in every single ep. Which I think very much established him as someone we are deeply invested in during later seasons as well. In a sense, we're all a bit like Bobby in ep 106, when he helped Buck with his tie, we're all smiling as we watch Buck hitting new milestones in his journey. I also think that both the shrink and Abby crossing lines with Buck has contributed, at least for me personally, to being extra protective when it comes to Buck.
Would I call him the 'heart of 118'? I think the 118 truly are a family, which means if any of them is missing, the team isn't quite right and the show isn't either. Chim probably starts as the least invested in character out of the main cast back in s1 (his arc isn't that sympathetic considering he lies to Tatiana in order to be with her, which is exploitative, he spends a few eps missing completely because he's in the hospital, and his arc isn't even really resolved in that season, he gets physically better but there’s barely any emotional resolution for him in s1), and yet I can say he too is essential, for example in this season, I've acutely felt his absence and missed him these past few eps, while he’s been away, and don’t feel the team’s quite the same. Buck clearly feels the same, as is shown explicitly in ep 510. And I've written before about Chim punching Buck being very much a sign that he’s at his breaking point, because normally he would never do that. So I'm very much looking forward to him returning and apologizing, and him and Buck resolving this, because I love this family and I adore how much they love each other. I know the punch is a low we have to go through for the high to be more meaningful, but boy do I really need it to happen already and for us to finally get to that place of healing. I hope you're dealing okay with all of that since 504, and that Chim's return with that storyline getting its resolution will be a high for you, too! xoxox
To anyone else who sent me an ask, I am going through all of them, thank you so much for your patience! If you wanna check whether I’ve replied to yours yet, you can have a look at my ask tag. xoxox

My Christmas present from Sheila and the boys.
I’ve always wanted a police shotgun. Not some tacti-cool, video game worthy model with lasers and flashlights, but something more basic. One with a folding or black polymer stock and a pistol grip? No thank you.
Instead I desired a traditional Remington 870 Police Magnum, with wood furniture and a seven-shot extended tube. A veteran boomstick that actually traveled 300,000 miles in a succession of Crown Victorias, locked in a rack. This shotgun would be no safe queen. It would have handling marks and blemishes on the stock, but likely was never abused.
They found this one that is EXACTLY what I wanted. I wouldn’t change a thing.
The day we were at my sister and BIL’s farm, I took the 870 out to their gun range and ran a few shells of double-aught buck through, to make sure everything worked. It was perfect.

Curang Si Isteri
Aku adalah seorang isteri yang setia. Namun setia dan sabar ada hadnya. Suamiku ada masalah jiwa. Dia mungkin mengalami inferiority complex.
Aku menyayangi dan menyintai dia namun dia, suamiku take for granted. Aku sendiri hairan kenapa suami aku bertindak begini.
Dia hanya tahu membayar hutang keretanya sahaja. Ishh..
Dia menyampah kerana dia merasakan Tini mula mencabar kedudukannya. Statusnya.
Abang N sering menasihatkan. Kami masing-masing sukakan keluarga dan menyayangi keluarga kami.
“Loving does’nt means owning. Mengasihi tak semestinya memiliki. We can love each other in our own way. Itu sahaja comitmentnya,” kata Abang N padaku. Aku menghayati kata-katanya. At least ada lelaki yang memberikan perhatian. Yang memberikan sedikit nasihat dan pandangan. Dan I like it.
Wow segak, kacak dan berpendidikan tinggi Abang N. Boleh tahan and appealing. Cair juga walaupun aku rasa aku muda but it is nice to have a man senior than you for a friend.
So kali pertama we met at Cititel Penang.
“You’re swit.. Nice figure. Presentable.. What more do u want?” kata Abang N memuji aku sambil tersenyum dan memegang gelas jus tembikainya. "Biasa je Bang. Normal wanita, tapi hubby dah tak sukerr,” jawabku pula.
“Come on, sampai satu waktu kita kena cari apa yang kita suka nak buat. Suami atau isteri juga ada rasa mau keluar, mau mencari apa yang dimahukan,” tambah Abang N yang berkemeja batik malam tu. Kebetulan kami duduk di hotel yang sama. Aku simple sahaja orangnya, taklah tinggi tapi gempal sikit berblaus hijau muda, tudung hijau nipis dan kain hitam. Bersandal. Aku rasa selesa dan comfortable dengan Abang N. Kami kenal lama juga melalui chatting. SMS begitu juga.
Though kami sama-sama in Kl but kami belum pernah date atau berjumpa. Kami selalu juga bertalifon. Itu sahaja but NO meeting. Biasalah chatting. No two ways about that. Maka adalah fantasia-fantasia yang dicerita dan kisahkan. Aku menjadi berani dewngan Abang N dalam chatting.
Selalu bertanya pengalamannya. Aku juga berpengalaman hanya dengan suamiku. Abang N bertanya direct mahu mencuba. Aku tidak menjawab. Hati mahu tapi rasa berani tu belum ada. Namun unsangkarable..
You know what?
"Tini.. Small tits and nice boobs, round, firm and lovely dear, i like it” puji Abang N sambil menyonyot puting tetek dan meramas susuku. Aku berasa terangkat menerima pujian Abang N. Setuhan tapak tangan, sedntuha bibir dan jilatan lidahnyake tubuhku membuatkan aku khayal dan mula bernafsu. Aku lupa dunia luar yang kuhadapi ialah Abang N di dalam bilik hotel mewah.
"Umhh cipap you wangi, tembam, tundun you tinggi Tini,” puji Abang N sambil menjilat lurah cipap ku, kemudian memainkan lidahnya dalam lubang farajku. "Makk.. Naper u lick kat situ Bang? It feels nice.. So nice..” kataku sambil merenggek dan mengeluh.
"Husband you tak lick atau tongue kat situ?” Tanya Abang N, “How do you feel..” “Nice I love it. Dah gelii.. Husband tak lick camtu. Acah-acah sahaja” jawabku dan mula merasa ngilu dan geli dijilat kemudian menggelejat dan mengeliat bila Abang N menyedut lubang cipapku bagaikan hendak terkeluar organ-organ di dalam tubuhku.
“Urghh.. Baang N.. Urghh I kuarr, you are a good licker..” kataku berani, aku sendiri terkejut dengan keberanianku.
Aku benar-benar horny.
"Abang after ten years of marriage this is my 1st time I climax, yess Abang..” kataku sambil mengeluarkan airmata gembira. "Is that so Tini, I m surprised..” kata Abang N menyepuh wajahku mengerling manja. Aku macam rasa bahagia diulit lelaki senior ini. Nice dan membahagiakan.
Yes.. Berbeza dengan cara make love suamiku, Hasan. Dia aroused nafsuku semula. Aku kembali horny.
Abang N menjilat seluruh bahagian belakang tubuhku. Geli yang amat sangat. Dia menjilat lubang anal dan tongueing juga. Mak oii sedap geli amat sangat sangat. Gilerr.. Aku menjerit-jerit dan tubuhku mengigil. Never I experience semacam itu. Pukiku terus berlendir. Dan Abang N rakus menjilat dan menyedutnya.
“Oo Abang N, nice.. Nice.. Sedapp,” ujarku dalam desahku. Tubuhku terhinggut-hingut.
Kini aku memegang zakar Abang N. “O migodd.. Besar kote Abang. Suami I nyer tak cam Abang nyer. Boleh masuk ke Bang kat cipap Tini ni?”
Abang N ketawa kecil, “I am preparing to penetrate you well.”
“Auhh.. Abang N.. Sakit..” “Rileks Tini, it is ok.. Nanti you akan rasa sedap.” Yes.
“Urgghh.. Abang nn.. Sedapp.. Sakit.. Sedapp..” “Arghh.. Oo.. Ketat lubang cipap you, Tinii.. Ketatt” “Oohh Bang nak kuar.. Bangg Nn..”
“Yess.. Yess kita kuar sama-sama sayangg..”
“Urghh.. Urghh. Urghh.. Kuarr bangg Nn” “Yess.. Me too..” “Oo Bang N.. Sedappnyaa.. Ist time sesedap ini difuck”
Aku akui. Yess-aku akui Abang N fuck me well dan sedap. Aku benar-benar kelesuan. Aku selalu menginginkannya. As said by Abang N, to love is not to own. Yes I mula sayangkan Abang N, tapi bukan memilikinya. He is free and I am a free lady.
Kini aku tidak kisah apa suamiku buat. Gasak dia. Aku maintain apa yang aku perlu maintain. But at least I am happy now. I know where to get my love.
I always love you Abang N.
Bukan kemahuan dia tetapi begitulah kehendaknya.

NaClYoHo Day 28
Traditionally I don't count the days I'm temping, but I fully plan to at least chug my way through the photo books if nothing else, so eff it, I'm counting it. I did lose part of last week; I expected that Veterans Day wouldn't count, but then %yo got sick so I lost the 12th, too.
It's been too long since I updated this, sorry (she says as if anyone cards).
So what have I been up to?
Last I checked, the sunflower seeds aren't ready to harvest yet.
Asbestos guys are coming this weekend. I need to fill out some paperwork for the floor replacement guys, so that's a task for today. FIL is working on the walls. Husband is TV shopping online, and either today or tomorrow I'll see what Consumer Reports recommends.
Our few Thanksgiving decorations are up. Still don't have more than a tentative plan as to what we're doing.
No word on when the school pictures will be in.
I plan to make some appointments this week, although I doubt I'll attend more than one before the month is out.
I've done some online Christmas shopping, and I plan to start my in-person shopping in earnest this weekend (largely to avoid my MIL, with whom we are staying while the asbestos guys do their thing). If all goes well, we'll take pictures on Sunday.
I need to find the list of gifts from 1yo's baptism. I found a little but not much.

pullets, illustrated
lazaefair replied to your post “pullets”
this was legit fascinating to read. I can just picture the scene (and how I would film it).
Ha! Interesting! Well, for visual interest, know that the pens we were taking them from were in a trio, staggered like stair-steps across the enclosure within the fence, white PVC with arching tops, and they had silver tarps atop them we were un-bungeeing to reach down into and grab the chickens like terrifying night haunts swooping from above. Veg Man stood at the door of the Turkaboose sliding the plywood door panel back and forth to let us deposit our armloads of sleepy pullets, but not let them fall out the door as they revived. We were all wearing gloves against their claws, except BIL, because he loaned his to one of the apprentices who had forgotten hers, on the grounds that his hands are already so beat-up a few more scratches won’t matter. He’s gentlemanly like that. (He and my sister did two of the pens, and the two apprentices and I did the other pen, in approximately the same amount of time, LOL. Why we put the two veterans together I don’t know, but it worked out in the end.)
Here’s a photo of the ladies this morning on my walk, in their new very tall-grass pasture, delightedly flying in and out of the Turkaboose. You have to look close to see them, the stripes blend in better with the grass than you’d think. They are Lovely Glamorous Ladies.
(The reason the Turkaboose is being repurposed is that these girls are smarter than turkeys and will climb up into it, while the turkeys kept trying to sleep under it and were not fleet enough to reliably get up into it and get onto the perches, and were thus more vulnerable to predators. These girls haven’t had perches before in their lives, but have already demonstrated zero trouble learning how to use them. Now what remains to be seen is whether the turkeys will be able to get up onto the top of the chicken tractor and squash it flat, like they’ve squashed other past turkey houses.)

Another group of people who ended up in Vietnam (goes along with classism too) were just young men out of high school with no direction. They didn't know what the hell they wanted to do with their lives. Fresh out of high school, not smart enough/wealthy enough for college and not cut out for trades and menial work. So they join the Armed Forces, a lot of times for the G.I. Bill to go to college to make something of themselves. That's what my mom's friend did. He died in Vietnam before he could.

Berserkers and Ulfhednars
The berserkers and ulfhednars were fierce warriors who entered in a trance before battle. The name berserker might come from the old Norse language, Ber and serkir meaning bear-shirt or bear-coat. This explanation however is uncertain. The name Ulfhednar comes from the old Norse language as well. The meaning is the same as Berserker but instead of bear it translates into wolf-shirt/skin.
Most mentions of the Berserkir and Ulfhednir come from Scandinavian sources but their origins are most likely much older. There is a controversial theory supported by several authors that the Germanic warrior tradition originated in hunting magic. Three animal cults appeared within this tradition: Bear, Boar and the Wolf cult.
If we want to look at some more legit evidence of the existence of warriors dressed as either wolves or bears, we need to take a look at the Roman empire. Trajan's column which is located in Rome, depicts scenes of Trajan's campaignin 101-104AD. A few of these scenes depict Roman soldiers and allies around the border of the Empire which includes Germanic warriors. There are Germanic warriors depicted as bare-chested, bare-foot while wearing bearskins and wolfskins. This is the only evidence we have before the vikings started to describe these warriors.
According to some historians, Berserkers drew their power from the bear and were highly spiritual people. During battle, they entered in a trance, they howled like wild beasts, gnawed the rims of their shields and were unable to feel any pain. They caused great panic and havoc amongst their enemies.
The history of the wolf warriors date back to the indo-European people. We know that warriors dressed as wolves existed because of captured standards and shields by the Romans. They were incredibly similar to the Berserkers, also entering into a trance before battle. They were also seen as Odin's warriors.
How did these warriors enter into a trance? There are theories that the 'rage' of these spiritual warriors were induced by the consumption of certain foods. Which exact food is unknown but there are several possibilities.
The first possibility is the Amanita Muscaria mushroom, the classic red with white dots mushroom. It has hallucinogenic properties but it does not really explain the extreme rage and insensitivity towards pain.
Another possibility is that it was induced by magic. The same trance in which seidr workers enter. A berserker or ulfhednar would go through a ritualistic process before battle which includes the acts of howling and shield biting to induce their hysteria. Or these warriors might have had a mental illness which was seen back then as a sign of a connection to the Gods.
It could also have been a truckload of alcohol but this seems unlikely since badly drunk people can barely stand on their feet let alone fight like a berserker. Maybe it was a plant like Dutch myrtle. This plant has according to old folk legends a strong hallucinogenic effect.
Another possible plant is the black henbane. It is a poisonous plant that was even known amongst the proto-indo Europeans as the 'crazy plant'. Its proto-Germanic meaning is hen-bil meaning death-vision. It is known to cause hallucinations and awaken the fight/flight response in the body. Its effects fit the description of a berserker much better than the amanita mushroom.
There is also a clinical psychiatrist, Jonathan Shay, who makes a connection between the berserker and ptsd. He wrote:
"If a soldier survives the berserk state, it imparts emotional deadness and vulnerability to explosive rage to his psychology and permanent hyperarousal to his physiology, hallmarks of post-traumatic stress disorder in combat veterans."
Whichever theory is correct, one thing is certain, These spiritual warriors are incredibly fascinating and they must have been a truly terrifying sight in front of their enemies.

So I last updated any of my guides 2 months ago according to my last post. I know there have been balance patches. I know the numbers in my guides are out of date. My Laby guides are especially dated as I didn’t edit them for her renewal.
However, I am f2p. The CP for the new region Rigomor averages out to 452k with the recent KR update. This is not a number that is obtainable without opening your wallet... or if you don’t have rich in-game friends who will gift you things.
Sure, we can bring Elrianode gear into the argument. However, it’s RNG upon RNG upon RNG to get the tears you need. Unless, of course, you’re able to play the market to invest in what you need. But you’d already need to have a certain amount of ED to viably do that. Then you need to invest in the amulets for this gear since it’s still very unreliable to successfully enhance to +8.
Not to mention you’d need a Void weapon. That’s another RNG time sink. But wait! You will not reach anywhere near 400k+ CP without a +10 at the bare minimum. +10 is incredibly hard to come by as f2p. An amulet costs billions upon billions of ED whereas it’s simply not realistic to enhance from a +9 -> +10 even during an enhancement event. I know this as it took me 4 years after I started playing to get a single +10 through enhancement. Also, to my knowledge, KoG does not give out a +9 amulet for Void weapon like for Heroic so this just makes it waaaaaaay harder, if not impossible, for a f2p to naturally enhance Void from +9 -> +10.
Oh, but that’s not all! You need an IB set as well. Preferably a strong 5/5 and strong 4/4. A 5/5 costs like 2 bil at minimum? Whereas a 4/4 can run up to 4 bil or more? Unless the game takes up most of your time, you’re able to successfully play the market, and/or you have rich in-game friends getting that much ED in a reasonable amount of time isn’t feasible. I have 5 full IB sets so I know this quite well.
Let’s not forget you need to have everything perfectly Saged. We only get Sages through events so veteran players have an advantage in that regard. New players are... well, let’s just say it doesn’t seem like new players are wanted. But that’s an entirely different issue.
In any case, this game is absolutely not f2p friendly. Story content is gated behind both RNG and a paywall. I could forgive the RNG... okay, no. I can’t forgive the sheer amount of RNG. Every single part of character progression outside of leveling is gated by RNG. It’s impossible to feel like you accomplished something whenever the right color El Tear drops because then you have to rely on RNG once again in the hopes it’s what you need only to be disappointed once again when it’s not what you’re looking for. There’s no sense of accomplishment when you get the right El Tear. It’s just a very annoyed, “f*cking finally. But anyway, a paywall? Just to enjoy the story? In a free to play? That’s not free to play. Story content is basic. It’s not an advanced feature. It’s certainly not a competitive feature. It’s the most basic of things that makes a game... a game.
Anyway. Elsword is not in a good place for f2p players like myself. I can’t play it any more as a result. There’s no point in me updating my guides for something I personally cannot and do not enjoy anymore.
I will keep this blog up in case the balance patches end up not making my work entirely irrelevant.

okay we veered away from the fact that the US military budget is 850 million dollars that is absolute bonkers.
according to this site below about 150 bil of that goes to disability and medical care for vets--maybe 70 bil of that is med care and could be knocked out if we had universal healthcare.
but even if we dont enact universal healthcare that means 650 billion goes to the military to spend on........ what?
I know i am naive about budget shit but i feel like if you took 52 billion out of that and gave 1 billion extra bucks to all 50 states and puerto rico and guam, it would make a HUGE difference for everybody and not even scratch the surface of being difficult for the military.
space shit is cancelled until we solve homelessness and poverty

Remembering Bil Munsil
William Walden Munsil, resident of Mesa, Arizona, nicknamed “Two Dollar Bil” for his love of that denomination of currency, passed away on July 31 after a long illness. Bil was born in Portland, Oregon, the sixth child of Lee Elverton Munsil and Evelyn Martha Shaw Munsil. At the end of WWII, when Bil was one year old, the family returned to Phoenix, Arizona. He attended Monterey Park and Madison #2 elementary schools in Phoenix, Arizona and Kaimuki High School in Honolulu, Hawaii. He graduated from Camelback High School in Phoenix in 1962, and from Phoenix College in 1964. He entered the United States Air Force in 1965 and served three different tours as an electric computer systems technician, a missile launch specialist, and a missile trainer specialist. He served with the 6937th Communications Group at the then-secret USAF Security Service listening post in Peshawar, Pakistan, during the Viet Nam war. He was later stationed at Peterson Field, Cheyenne Mountain (NORAD) in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Vandenberg AFB in California, and Francis B. Warren AFB in Wyoming, and received his final honorable discharge in 1977, whereupon he returned to Phoenix. While in the service of our country he received the AF Good Conduct Medal (3); National Defense Service Medal (2); Longevity Service Award; and Outstanding Unit Award. Bil had many interests and accomplishments. He was renowned for his sense of humor, being able to come up with puns and to remember more jokes than most people have ever heard. He was also renowned for the magnificent curly white “Santa Claus” beard he had for many years. He was in the top 1% of Mensa membership, and received a certificate for being the longest-enrolled member of the Arizona Society of Mayflower Descendants, after 50 years of membership in that organization. He was a kind man who delighted in doing nice things for others. He was fluent in Esperanto, the international language, which he taught himself. He was interested in numismatics and had an extensive coin collection. He was the family genealogist, researching not only his Munsil and Shaw families but his ancestors to the Mayflower and beyond, in England, Scotland, and France. He was a ham radio operator and branched out into television, being one of the founders of the Arizona Amateurs on Television (AATV) Ham TV organization, and had the call sign K1ATV. He was active in the Libertarian Party, acting as a precinct committeeman, and was the Libertarian candidate for Justice of the Peace when he lived in Yarnell, Arizona. Bil loved music; he played the trumpet and had a beautiful singing voice, singing in the Orpheus Boys Choir as a child and later in the choir of every church he attended. He also sang at weddings and other special occasions. One of his musical arrangements was used in a service at First United Methodist Church of Colorado Springs. Bil also served as caregiver for his mother in her last years. Bil was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Marilyn Sue Stout and her husband Rev. Arthur Paul Stout; his sister Martha’s husband George Williams Patterson; and his sister Lois’s husband Marvin Ralph Hunt. Bil is survived by his sister Martha May Patterson; his sister Joanne Evelyn Burnett and her husband Rev. Dr. Ivan Blackwell Burnett, Jr; his brother Lee Elverton Munsil, Jr. and his wife Linda Mary Munsil; his sister Lois Elvira Hunt; his brother Dr. Wesley Elwood Munsil and his wife Dr. Janet Carol Siebert; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and great-great nieces and great-great nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Veterans Affinity (https://veteransaffinity.org).
