summary - the doors at midtown seem a little boring, but when you get introduced to someone you seem to remember, what happens when they seem to remember you too?

a/n: so i know i last updated in october, but as u all saw i have a 25 days of xnas thing going on (PLS I WROTE THE A/N LIKE A MONTH AGO PLUS I FORGOT ABOUT THE XMAS THING DISREGARD) so pwww updates will be slow (as if they werent already omg) but the next chapter will be arriving hopefully, fingers crossed, on xmas eve or xmas! also, are you guys watching the new euphoria episode? also, i’ve stopped using the word ‘stuttering’, as it may be ableist, and i’d never wanna come off as insensitive. anyway lmao, enjoy chapter one, the trials and tribulations of hitting someone in the nuts.

when y/n y/m/n stark was in her early years, she was never aware of the impact her father would and did hold over her life, and in turn, the whole world. for the longest time, you’d always assumed that your father wasn’t real, and everything that had been told to you by malicious family members who were jealous over your father’s “successes” had been lies, and you had it believed yourself. no one would even think that you were tony stark’s daughter until it had been mentioned. tony’s snarky attitude had been a character trait that you’d gotten, and you always took pride in your humor and attitude.

the story of your mother and tony had been messy and all over the place. from a drunken hook-up followed by multiple days of morning sickness, to a surprise pregnancy test, the storyline of your parents had been.. well.. interesting to say the least. you never focused on your family’s history, solely based on the fact that you didn’t have two fucks to give about your family history, but you also never knew your father which was-- bizarre.

when tony had found out about you, he claimed it was a drunken accident, a mistake, and one he made when he was “less responsibly a stark”, which was actually just some fucking bullshit, but he didn’t wanna admit that he hooked up with some random chick at a bar that he thought was hot.

since you had been raised by a mother who was barely there, you had to raise yourself. you were kinda street smart and book smart, and you were always smart when it came to books, because you were the type to want to learn-- unlike others.

when you were in your teen years, you had tabs on you and the media on you 24/7 to make sure you didn’t royally fuck up. the unwanted attention became too much when you started realizing that people didn’t want you for your personality, they wanted you for your title. but this was after you moved from brooklyn. nuvale and peter never saw you as some “movie star”, or some famous person in the media because you weren’t. but when you had grown to learn what your father did, he had forced you to not fuck up to maintain his-- somewhat okay reputation.

you always wanted that superstar life, as a fantasy of course, but when you got to it, you realized the cliche-y-ness of it all. you’d idolized the famous women in the media-- idolized how they looked like. you realized fairly quick how fucked up the media truly is. you realized how things really aren’t as they seem. its not just the galas that look extravagant, or getting to wear a fancy new gucci outfit every night. it honestly was a whole bunch of other shit you wouldn’t even imagine. it comes with the no privacy thing- people stalking you in public, the death threats, so much shit that wouldn’t happen as common if you were just anonymous.

being an avenger (basically), your dad had natasha teach you the ropes; the basic rules of how to kick someones ass. it was a handbook that the women of the avengers had created, and it had all the rules and regulations of how to spar someone on the team, and basically how to righteously beat someone's ass up. it was never really something you found too important, but as you grew older, you realized that it was very important to know, especially since you were a girl.

despite your harsh remarks and snarky attitude, your father always knew how to hit a sensitive point in you that always managed to break you down. you never quite understood why he would want to make you feel worse about yourself than you already felt, but regardless, you always felt underappreciated by him. being a stark, you were expected to be a genius, get over the top grades, and constantly be able to keep up, but with your luck, you were graced with depression, social anxiety, and a 4.0 gpa. fun, right?

wrong.

when you were 11, you had made friends with the kids in your apartment halls, and you learned that their names were nuvale jones and peter parker, and you were basically the golden trio. you were hermione, peter was ron, and nuvale was harry. which, now that you look back at it, makes much more sense than any other arrangement. you also had another friend, harry osborn, but once he moved away, there was no way for you to talk to him anymore. he had moved across the country to california, and from then, it was just you, peter, and nuvale. your best friends ha been there for you for what seemed like decades, although you only knew them for about three.

peter was the boy with the rosy cheeks who little 12 year old you would get butterflies in her tummy. or the type of boy to bring you an extra snack if you weren’t able to pack it the night before. he was the type of boy to walk you to the nurses office if you got hit with a dodgeball. he was the type of boy to fall for someone like you. but he didn’t. or so you thought.

little prebubescent y/n was an awkward girl who thought the world would be on her side when she needed it the most, or that whenever you needed peter or nuva, they would be there. you didn’t think your best friend would stop talking to you after you had moved away. you were too naive to know that peter liked you, and you were too naive to know that he had liked you back, but you wanted to believe what your brain would tell you, so you decided to flush your feelings down the drain and forget about them, which, in hindsight, was a pretty shitty idea. who would’ve known?

your alarm clock blared loudly from beside you, causing you to let out a loud groan in protest. you hit the side of your head angrily, then whining and rubbing the spot which you hit. whines and loud sighs fell from your lips as you rubbed the sleep from your eyes and pulled the covers over your head, knowing what would come next after you would try to snooze your alarm.

“good morning, miss stark, how could i be of service to you this morning?” friday’s voice echoed through your large bedroom. you peaked your eyes and forehead from beneath the covers, your eyes slowly starting to adjust to the light that was pulled through the big blinds which were now open.

“mmm, fri, just tell happy to get the car ready, ill be ready in a few min- nevermind, tell him to get ready in thirty, im probably gonna fall asleep in the shower.” you croaked, taking your phone from the charger which was on your nightstand. you slipped on your bunny slippers and turned on the heater in your room, the draft filling your room with cold air throughout the night.

once you walked through the large industrial doors of midtown’s cafeteria, everyones voices started to drop into sharp hushed whispers, making you roll your eyes and pull your hood up over your face. you pulled your airpods from your pockets into your ears and tried your best to avoid any and all eye contact with anyone you did end up coming into contact with. you walked over to the food bar where you grabbed a red school tray and plastered on your best smile to the lunch ladies who work oh so hard to make sure you all were fed. as you walked through the line, you could feel the intensified stares on you, making your back erupt in chills. you didn’t like to be watched, and the fact that you were a so-called celebrity didn’t help your cause in any way.

“hey.” a low voice called from behind you. it was a girl with curly hair with gorgeous light brown skin, and a jawline that would cut you. you were almost astonished by her beauty, but you remembered the facade you had to hold, especially to strangers that you didn’t know.

“hey?” you asked unsurely, wondering if she was with the media or not. which was something that tended to happen quite a bit.

“don’t worry, i’m not with the press. you just seem interesting.” she said in a monotone voice, but still with a strong look of seriousness on her face. you giggled softly when your eyes locked and your faces went totally still, making the girl in front of you laugh as well. she held out her hand in front of you, while also balancing her tray and book in the other hand. you placed yours into hers and shook it, smiling when she told you her name.

“michelle jones.” she smiled, your throat getting a little tight at her last name, and you had to admit that it struck a little chord within you, but you quickly cleared it from your thoughts and introduced yourself as well.

“y/n stark. pleasure to meet you, jones.”

“pleasure to meet you too.”

“so, i get that you’re new here,” she started walking, inviting you to walk along with her. “what- what are you doing here? i mean i get you’re smart and all, but this is a nerd school; you literally could’ve gone anywhere, so, might i ask, why here?”

“hm, interesting question. seriously i don’t know. my dad and i don’t really get along so he makes the decisions and i tell him if i like it or not. which by the way, i’m gonna have to stay near you-- you’re the only one making this bearable for me right now.” you snorted, nudging your elbow to hers.

“hm, daddy issues. great song, love the artists.” she smirked, making you shoot your head back in loud laughter, gaining some side eyed glances from a few people sitting at the tables around you.

“so, where are we sitting? i usually nev-”

“hey mj!” you were interrupted by a boyish laugh and hoots and hollers coming from a table two tables ahead of you.

“jesus fucking christ. what? just because i got some and you didn’t doesn’t mean that you have to be that fuckin’ loud about it.” she grumbled, placing her tray down, slinging the backpack on her right shoulder beside her. you looked at her with a nervous but curious glint in your eyes. she gave you a knowing look which said, ‘just go with what i say’, making you nod in understanding.

“woah! holy shit! i m- i mean woah- nice to- nice to meet you!” the boy fumbled over his words, looking at you and michelle in disbelief, shaking his friends shoulder and poking at his cheek.

“nice cut, g. looks nice.” you said to him, giggling as you stuck your straw into the mini juice box.

“o-oh, thanks… g?” he said back to you, observing your looks with a confused expression written on his face making you giggle at his confusion.

“peter! look! y/n stark is at our table!” he whisper shouted to his friend, making you look at michelle with a smile on your face and playfully rolling your eyes. she looked back at you, rolling her eyes as well, gesturing to her head as if saying ‘idiots’, making you giggle and turn back to them.

“so, bowl cut dude, what’s your name?” you nodded to him, picking at your salad with the blac spork that was so cordially given to you by mj.

“n-ned, ned leeds.” he smiled sheepishly.

“and you, colonizer, what’s your name?” you tapped on the table, alerting the boys attention. you could hear michelle and ned hollering and snickering from their seats, but decided to keep your poker face rolling. but i mean, how couldn’t you? the look on his face was absolutely priceless.

“peter park- wait did you just call me a colonizer?” he cut himself off in his own sentence, looking at his other friends for confirmation, to which they nodded, still cackling at the fact that you had indeed call him a colonizer.

“peter park, hm?” you teased, ignoring the way you hesitated and ignoring the way your chest felt heavy when the name of peter was said.

“n-no thats not my name-” he said, tripping over his words, making you let out a chuckle.

“i’m messing with you. with what you’ve given me, i could only guess your name is peter parker?” you rested your chin on your hand, engaging in the awkward conversation.

“yeah. thats my name.” he said more confidently, giving you a tight lipped smile.

“nice to meet you, parker.”

“you too, stark, my pleasure.”

after the small encounter with your new found friends, you had gone back to your respective classes, which meant that your next class had peter in it. after you had split up, you decided to get there early to avoid any commotion surrounding you.

as the boring class continued, you heard the loud clicking of high heels in the hallways, which had to be one person and one person only.

“stark,” someone shouted from the door which swung open. low and behold, in front of you was the prickly bitch, your principal, mrs cunningham. “come with me, eugene’s parents have requested a meeting with you and your father considering that you had just hit their son in the private areas!” everyone snickered and laughed. finally someone had stood up to flash’s shit.

“y- you punched flash in the nuts? i thought that was just a rumor?” peter stuttered, looking at you in disbelief.

“yeah, the fuck was i gonna do? let him flirt with me? no. that bitch tried to grab my ass. i’m a stark, i was raised better than that.” you whispered to him, packing your bag as you did so.

“hm, guess you’re right. well, good luck stark.”

“thanks parker.”

once you arrived in the principals office, you saw what seemed to be his mother in one of the seats decked out in expensive pearls and diamonds. typical.

“little miss over here punched my son in the privates! i will not allow this to happen!” fuck. you thought; another one of those stuck up cunty parents.

“pfft, probably paid to get their son into here.” you muttered under your breath, playing with your protection bracelets incase anything was to ever happen.

“wHAT? mrs cunningham, i will not allow this child to talk about my son this wa-”

“hello! i was called in?” a voice interrupted, one you could only peg as your father.

“ahh! mr stark! you’re finally here!” your hilarious excuse as a principal said cheerfully.

“i am! and i am here to.. come and have a meeting about my daughter's- behavior?” he asked questiongly, already seeing the triumphant and cocky look on your face. he knew you weren’t at fault, and you were gonna lie your pretty ass out of it.

“well, mr stark, we have a student in the nurses room due to the actions of your daughter!” she looked at him menacingly. he shook his head with a smile on his face and walked over to you, grasping your shoulders in his hands.

“well kiddo, wanna explain what and why you did what you did?” he smiled, giving you two taps on your shoulder, already knowing what was next. you two had a pretty good acting schedule when it came to it, when in reality, you despised eachother.

“sure daddy! eugene had been hitting on me for several days now, and even found my private social medias in use to.. how can i say this, use me for my fame? he tried talking to me, very inappropriately on several occasions, and even went as far as to try and grab me in areas in which i find extremely inappropriate, without my consent, might i add, which doesn’t seem okay with me. does it seem exceptional to you, mrs thompson?” you asked, while only keeping your eyes on his mother.

“why, i am so sorry miss stark! his father will be in contact, i did not raise my baby to be this way! im sorry for any inconvenience he may have caused you!” she gasped, raising a hand to her heart.

“it’s okay, i just request, may this never happen again? i would not like my privacy to be invaded, much less from your son, and can i please ask that he never try to hit on me, nor any girls at this school ever again? i can only imagine how many other girls this may have happened to, mrs thompson.” you sighed, your eyes filling up with fake tears. you reached up to touch your fathers hand, tapping it twice back, knowing that you both had just won.

“never again miss stark, once again, i am so sorry this happened to you.”

“it’s okay. now mrs cunningham, shall we see our way out?” your father answered for you, looking over at the old white woman who looked like a piece of cheese. she could only nod in awe, giving you the cue to pick up your bags and walk proudly to the door.

“thanks i guess.” you muttered, pulling out your airpods once more, hoping to seal the conversation with your father.

“yeah yeah, no problemo.” he muttered back, avoiding eye contact and stuffing his hands in his pockets.

once you reached the door, you remembered that you had left something in your locker, and informed your dad that you’d be going back to get it. he all but nodded and looked back at his shoes before trudging to the car.

once you entered the seemingly halls, much to your surprise, you saw a scrawny teenage boy lifting open a set of lockers, which you didn’t even know was possible, and pulling out a red and blue suit. once you saw who the hands belonged to, your mouth fell agape as you gasped,

“peter?”

Pairing: Jungkook x Reader

Summary: There are two students in your art class with a secret: you and the quiet Jeon Jungkook. You’re a problematic idol singer, infamous for your ice cold reputation and perpetual resting bitch face; he’s the artist and author behind the viral comic series based on a certain ice queen idol. After a blowup of destructive rumors, lost motivation and inevitable solitude, you stumble upon Jungkook’s comic and find a new and unexpected light.

A/N: i’ve had mixed feelings about the tumblr fic community as of late :/ but heres something to read🥺

Holding the boy’s pinky in your own, you stare once more at his drawing of you with your guitar and flower crown—a superhero to those whom you shared your music with.

No. Your music hasn’t saved anyone. You’ve never been a hero to anyone. If anything, you’re the one who needs to be saved. You’d always thought you could grow strong enough to save yourself if you just closed yourself off from the world and did everything on your own. But in the end, that only seemed to hurt you more.

You should’ve known. It’s okay to ask for help, to reach out, to let him in.

“A few years ago, I had a thought. It wasn’t a very smart thought, but I decided I wanted to share part of myself with the world. I thought about the different ways I could go about that, but the way that made the most sense for me was music,” you say, finally letting go of Jungkook’s pinky and making yourself awfully comfortable on a bed that doesn’t belong to you. “So I auditioned for Polar Entertainment. Not to be an idol, but to be a songwriter.”

Jungkook doesn’t say anything, but he nods as if it’s not a shock to him, as if he saw it as “a Y/N thing to do.” At the same time, his gentle eyes wait for you to continue, curious to know what’ll happen next.

“Do you remember the song you heard me singing the other day in the music room?”

Jungkook cracks a smirk and starts singing your song word for word in a surprisingly in-tune whisper. Oh, he remembers it alright, and he’ll apparently never let you live it down. He doesn’t stop until you throw one of the balled-up blankets at his face.

“That was the first time I picked up my guitar and sang that song since being rejected at the audition.”

“I can imagine how scarring that would be. Rejection,” he shudders at the word, though you’re sure he knows little about the feeling with art skills as professional as his. “They really didn’t like you though?”

“They liked certain parts of me.” Your vocals, your beauty, your body. “But not the ones that mattered.” Your music, your creativity, your personality. You.

“That’s their loss,” Jungkook says in the midst of a yawn, practically inaudible. But you heard him.

“Maybe they had a point,” you say, looking up at the ceiling. “Because when I look back to that time, it was quite foolish of me to believe my music would reach anyone when it came from a place of desperation, not my heart. The song was a plea for help, not one that would save others.”

“What made you suddenly sing it again after all this time?”

You grab hold of the boy’s hand and form yet another pinky promise. “Promise you won’t laugh at me for my reason.”

“I can’t promise you that,” he says with the straightest face. He’s ready to burst out laughing again and you know it.

“Then I won’t tell you.” With a hmph, you bury yourself under the fluffiest blanket. You wonder how he would’ve reacted if you told him it was that dang jk.seagull and his fanfic that gave you the courage to sing again, to go back to your roots, to follow your love of creating music. It’d obviously sound ridiculous to admit it out loud, but the joy you feel from reading Witch Hazel is what reminds you of the very thing you want to provide others with—happiness.

And that’s perhaps all the encouragement you needed to start sharing your music again.

“I won’t tell you what it was exactly that made me do it, but I’ll tell you why,” you peek your head back out of the blankets to see the boy still waiting patiently for an answer. “I wanted to move on… from the failure I faced that day. That way, I can finally become that superhero you speak of.”

You place the drawing of your superhero self onto the nightstand so that it doesn’t get crinkled up on the bed. No, she’s not a superhero yet. But she will be someday.

“I’ll look forward to it.”

“You better not tell anyone,” you remind him. “This isn’t something I share with other people. Ever.”

“I won’t tell anyone,” he assures you, with not only his words but also his warmth.

“Good.” You smile whilst closing your eyes. You meant to tell him that he could confide in you too, but the warmth pulls you into a deep slumber before you could do so.

It’s been a minute since you’ve awoken in someone else’s bed, though this is the first time you aren’t all wrapped up in their embrace. Rather, half the boy’s body is hanging off the side of the bed for dear life while you’re right smack in the middle, all bundled up in one of the blankets.

If you wanted to, you could push him over the edge with the tiniest tap of your foot—that’s how close he is to falling. But as tempting as it would be to get even with the boy who teases you to no end, you opt to quietly check your phone without disturbing him.

To your surprise, you have two new notifications: a text from Seokjin earlier this morning and a late-night update from jk.seagull posted sometime after you had passed out. You’ve always been the type to take care of work obligations before indulging in guilty pleasures, so you open Seokjin’s text first.

6:04AM jinnie “so jimin’s manager reached out to me”

6:05AM jinnie “and you want to collab with jimin?”

7:12AM Y/N “oh yeah i asked him to have his manager contact you”

7:13AM Y/N “but i guess i forgot to tell you LOL”

It’s not that you forgot. You were just hesitant to tell your manager about it yourself. Because if possible, you’d like to minimize your own company’s involvement in this top-secret scheme of yours.

7:15AM jinnie “are you up to something?”

7:15AM Y/N “mayhaps”

7:16AM Y/N “but dont tell boss lady pls”

7:17AM jinnie “shes going to find out one way or another”

7:19AM Y/N “thats true 🤔 ”

7:20AM Y/N “well tbh knowing her, she’d probably approve of the collab anyway since it should clear up those dating rumors while (hopefully) appealing to jimin’s fanbase”

7:21AM Y/N “just dont tell her the logistics of the collab”

7:21AM jinnie “what are you scheming lmao”

7:22AM Y/N “youll see”

7:22AM jinnie “ 😒 dont get me or yourself in trouble Y/N”

7:23AM Y/N “i wont! i promise! 🥺 ”

7:24AM jinnie “okay fine”

7:25AM jinnie “ill arrange a meeting with jimin and his manager to discuss everything formally”

As you move on to the more exciting notification on your phone, you see that the sleeping Jungkook has slipped several inches closer to falling flat on his face. Maybe you’ll save him from his impending doom. Maybe you won’t. But that’ll have to wait until after you see what jk.seagull had to say on his blog.

“do you ever think back to that one time in math camp when a little girl screamed in your face that she hated math and wanted to become a musician instead? apparently she somehow confused ‘musician’ with ‘mathematician’ LMAO”

You aren’t sure what provoked the silly seagull guy to share such a random thought, but you do get a good laugh out of it. After all, you can totally relate as someone who went to math camp one summer despite knowing in your heart what you truly wanted to do-

Wait.

“Jungkook,” you say in a half-hushed, half-urgent tone, though calling his name wouldn’t be what actually wakes him from his slumber. “I think I know who the seagull guy is.”

Thud. You swear on your life you didn’t lay a finger on the boy when he fell, despite all the devilish thoughts you had about it earlier. He fell on his own. You’re innocent. Therefore, you have a right to laugh.

“Are you okay?” you snicker, peering down from the bed at the dazed boy. He might have been the biggest klutz for rolling off the bed and stumbling around to find his glasses, but holy shit. His wild bedhead and scattered blankets across the floor make it seem as though the two of you had a lot more than just an innocent heart-to-heart in his bed last night.

“I’m fine,” he stretches his arms and combs the bedhead out. Yes, he is fine. “But, uhh, what’s this about that seagull guy?”

“I think I know him.” You expect Jungkook to be as excited as you are, but he just seems kind of puzzled—perhaps from his lack of sleep.

“…and how did you come to that conclusion…?” he asks. Or maybe he doesn’t believe you.

“You didn’t see the post! Look at the post.” You join the boy down on the floor and make yourself at home there with your phone and some of the fallen blankets. He leans over your shoulder to read the infamous post you won’t shut up about.

“Math camp?” Jungkook continues to squint at the cryptic message before chuckling. “Also, did that girl seriously confuse musician with mathematician?”

“Stop laughing! That dumbass was me.” Now you wish you had kicked his ass off the bed.

He stops laughing, not because you told him to but because he’s mildly shook. “What?”

You take a deep breath in because you know you’re setting yourself up to be clowned for the rest of your fucking life. “When I was like ten, I told my parents that I wanted to be a mathematician, thinking that word meant musician. So they signed me up for camp that summer.”

“Did you ever stop to think that mathematician has the word math in it and not mu-”

You interrupt the boy’s unwelcomed commentary with an air-punch to his guts before continuing on as if nothing happened. “I was so excited until I got there. It was absolutely mortifying to learn that it was a math camp, not a music camp.”

“I like this story,” he nods with his arms guarding himself in anticipation of another air-jab as you square up.

“Still, I tried to make the best out of the situation since I was actually kind of good at math,” you say. “The camp director even told me I’d make a great math professor one day.”

“I can’t imagine you as a math professor.” He settles down with all the chuckling.

“I couldn’t either, so I ran off to an empty room where I thought I could escape without anyone finding me,” you soften your tone. “But somehow a crying, wandering boy found me.”

“Was it the seagull?”

“Maybe. All I remember was hearing music playing from somewhere outside. I sang along as a way to comfort and distract myself from the whole math situation, but it seemed to cheer up the boy as well.”

“Your voice does have that effect, you know.”

“He told me the same thing.” You can’t help but smile a little at the compliment. “But in that moment, it felt like my dream had a purpose beyond fueling my own desires. And I needed to share it with someone. Anyone.”

“So you shared it with the boy?”

You nod. “I told him my dream was to be a mathematician, but he knew what I meant.”

“Did he at least clown you first?”

“He did. He laughed right in my face, and at first I thought he was a jerk for making fun of my dream. But after he kindly taught me the difference between musician and mathematician, I announced my actual dream to him and him alone.”

“And how’d he respond?”

“He said it was cool beans.”

“He said cool beans?”

“Those were his exact words, yes.”

“And that was it?”

“That’s all I can remember.”

“So you don’t even remember his name or anything?”

“We never introduced ourselves,” you shake your head. “I don’t remember his face either because it was covered by a hood and long hair.”

“That’s too bad,” Jungkook sighs. “I bet it really was that seagull guy after all.”

“I have a feeling it was him, too.”

It would be nice and awfully romantic if you had somehow crossed paths long ago with the very seagull who continues to inspire your craft with his own. But even if that isn’t the case, you’re content with having that memory and entrusting it with another boy who has done nothing but lift you up.

You lean yourself gently against the Jungkook’s shoulder as you slip your phone back into your pocket, debating on your next course of action. The two of you should be getting ready for class, but that doesn’t sound very appealing. There are other things you’d much rather be doing, like maybe thanking the boy for lending his ear. But for some reason, it’s still difficult for you to say those two simple words of gratitude.

Perhaps it’s difficult because there’s a lot more you’d say than just “thanks man.”

“Can we just cut class and get coffee instead?” Yes, you’ll thank him for his service by treating him to coffee. Unless…? What if this is just your subtle way of asking the boy out on a date? What if he says no because you’ve already spent way too much time with him in the past 24 hours? What if he hates coffee? What if he-

“We should probably go to class to turn in our project, yeah?” Jungkook brings up a good point. But the thing is, you don’t really have your priorities straight at the moment and your mind has only two things consuming it: coffee and boy. “But we can get coffee after class.”

“Ooh, good, because there’s this one coffee shop I want you to try!” You chirp up despite your nonexistent dose of morning caffeine. “It’ll be my treat as thanks for… letting me hog your bed.”

“Oh right... that,” Jungkook hops to his feet and starts tidying up said bed. You help by picking up and folding all of the blankets. “I nearly froze and fell to my death because of that, you know.”

“I saw,” you bite your lip, trying to mask any naughty thoughts that come to mind. Because next time, if there is in fact a next time, you won’t let the boy freeze.

By the time art class ends, the weight of the dreaded group project has been lifted and your craving for coffee begins to settle in once more. And apparently, the hunger and excitement is radiating off you because someone has the audacity to make a comment about it.

“Why does your face look like that?” Taehyung teases, but you’re mildly offended.

“Because I’m getting coffee from my favorite café. That’s why,” you hiss but there’s still a hidden glow about you and your excitement. “Coffee is to me as girls are to you, Taehyung.”

“Ooh, speaking of girls, do any cute girls work there?” He strokes his wise man beard. “Maybe I’ll tag along.”

“I don’t fucking know.” And even if you did know, you wouldn’t say yes.

“How boring,” he yawns while nudging the boy next to him. “Hey Jungkook, wanna go on a double date with me? I met a pair of gamer girls, but I don’t know all the nerdy gaming stuff that you know. And think about it, this could be the first time you get laid since-”

“Actually, Jungkook’s getting coffee with me,” you interrupt. And if you had been brave enough to look up at the boy as you spoke, you would have seen the healthy pink radiance on his cheeks.

“Oh, so the two of you are dating all of a sudden?” Taehyung nods, as if he had hit the mark.

Neither you or Jungkook give an immediate answer, probably due to the unspoken yet very apparent shift in dynamics between the two of you as of late. Yes, you’ve developed certain feelings for the boy, but no, you aren’t technically “dating.” You just hope he’s on the same page as you.

“It’s just coffee,” you want to say, but it comes out of Jungkook’s mouth instead. And even though you would’ve said the same exact thing, it hits a little different hearing it from him.

At the same time, coffee is coffee and Jungkook is Jungkook. You need to remind yourself that your craving for coffee with the boy will be satisfied, regardless of whether it’s a date or not. After all, “dating” is not an option for an idol who should only be focusing on her music and fans.

“Which drink would you recommend?” Jungkook asks as you lead him in the direction of the café.

“If you like coffee, all of the drinks are good in my humble opinion,” you say, though you realize you should probably give the boy a few specific suggestions to make his decision a little easier. “You can get a standard mocha or latte if you want something simple. Or, their signature hazelnut coffee is really really good. Or if you want something iced, you should try the cold brew because it’s literally the most refreshing dose of caffeine ever. Oh! But if you’re into something more plant-based, I suggest the maple oat-”

“You’re not narrowing down my options if you recommend the entire menu, Y/N,” the boy chuckles at your coffee enthusiast behavior.

“Well, here’s my thought process: if we go at least once a week after class, you can eventually try every drink on the menu by the end of the school year. Not including all the different types of milk options though.”

“I don’t know if I should be impressed or terrified that you even bothered to do that calculation.” His eyes are bigger and brighter than the sun. “But that must mean you really like coffee then, huh?”

“Of course! Is that even a question?” The snobby coffee enthusiast jumped out real quick. But even beyond the coffee, you did the calculation to see how long your little coffee not-dates with the boy could last before you have to return to your idol obligations. “You like coffee too, right?”

“Not really,” he sighs. Your jaw drops. Who the does he think he is? “Are there any tea options? Or like a banana milk or something?”

“You can’t just walk into a coffee shop and not order coffee.” Is this guy for real? No, he’s just fucking with you. Probably. “I better start reevaluating who I hang out with,” you say with a sarcastic hmph.

“I’m kidding, kind of.” He doesn’t do a very good job of reassuring you of that. “I like… coffee.”

“That hesitant pause doesn’t sit well with me, Jeon.” You raise an eyebrow at the suspicious boy. It feels nice to tease him for once. “Why are you grabbing coffee with me if you don’t love it?”

“I just curious about this coffee place,” he nudges you, “since someone seems to really enjoy it.”

So it’s because of you…

“Good to know I’ve successfully peer pressured you into consuming caffeine,” you hum, playing it off as if his words weren’t absorbed right into your heart. It was never about coffee.

It’s about you and him.

The thought of that makes your heart scream a little, so you hide your flustered face behind your phone as the two of you approach the coffee shop. You have an unread text from your manager.

2:35PM jinnie “good news”

2:36PM jinnie “i set up a meeting with jimin and his manager in an hour”

You stop in your tracks. That’s not good news. Well actually, it is good for your top secret collab. But the timing of it all is anything but good.

“Are you searching up the menu online? Oh wait, you already have the entire menu memorized from A to Z.” He thinks he’s funny. Now is not the time, Jeon. His teasing smile doesn’t disappear until the distress is written all over your face.

How do you cancel a not-a-date date without a proper explanation? How can you do that to a boy who has only ever done you right? The thing is, you don’t have to hurt him.

You can cancel the meeting, you can bail out on the collab, you can disappear from the idol world altogether if you choose to do so. And if you didn’t want to go that far, you could instead tell the boy of your deepest and darkest secret, of your idol identity, and he would surely understand your reasons for having to leave so suddenly for work.

You could do any of those things, but you decide not to. You won’t allow yourself to make such a rash decision, even if it’s the right one. So you decide to keep the meeting, you decide to keep your idol self hidden in the shadows, and you decide to abandon the boy.

I’ve only recently discovered bts and haven’t been able to stop listening to them. They’ve been around a lot longer than I realised and was wondering If you’d be able to explain some things about them, how they became bts. Traits that you’ve noticed they all have?

Oh wow! hahaha Hi! Welcome to the BTS Fandom! Fans are called ARMY. Yes, BTS literally has an ARMY of followers. (notice me not explaining what ARMY means lmao). While starting to write this, I realized I could write a whole book about it, which honestly, some people have. LMAO So I’ll try and make this informative starting with the foundations of BTS, the members, and the official links LMAO I also tagged some bias tumblr pages and group update pages.

Foundations:

Also, yes! BTS has been an active idol group since 2013. They had their first live stage on June 13, 2013. They are managed by a company called BigHit and was founded by a famous Korean composer named, Bang Shihyuk, more known in the K Music industry as Hitman Bang. The company itself was small and didn’t have big artists on it’s roll and roster yet, but the members and Bang PD took a chance on each other.

They had very humble beginnings. BigHit didnt have their own building, instead they rented some floors in one building. One floor was an office space, one was a practice studio, small room for recording, small rooms for production. The members themselves had to fit in one small bedroom with 3 double deck beds and a small solo bed for Jungkook.

They first introduced themselves through a series of Vlogs before they even debuted as BTS, which actually means 방탄소년단 Bangtan Sonyeondan (Bulletproof Boyscouts). Initially, they were supposed to debut as a rap group but the company decided on making them an idol group.

Their music has always been targeted towards the millenial age group and their lyrics aspire to inspire the youth. They did produce a number of love songs that were pretty usual for kpop idols but as they found their voice and produced their own music, more of their colors as individuals shone through. They sang and wrote about their struggles, hopes, dreams, which a lot of us can relate to.

Members:

All the members are quite filial, always talking about their family. They are also very humble are always in awe of how much they have achieved together. Their loyalty and care for each other is very apparent in the way they interact. They all have a good, weighted understanding of music and desire for growth in their skills.

Kim Namjoon (김남준 aka RM, formerly Rap Monster)

position: leader, rapper

bday: September 12, 1994

height: 181 cm (5’11.3”)

family: parents, younger sister

hometown: Ilsan

BT21 character: Koya

Born in Ilsan, he is a smart cookie and an avid reader. It is a fact that his IQ grade is 148 and that along with his rapping prowess, made him a standout even as a rookie idol. He is also known as the English speaker of the group. According to him, he learned by watching the series FRIENDS and listening to western music. Before being part of BigHit, he was already gaining ground as an underground rapper under the name “Runch Randa” in 2007. He was only in middle school.

RM decided to join a rap crew called “Daenamhyup,” which consisted of some of the top underground rappers. RM then auditioned for another rap group which is where he met Untouchable’s Sleepy who was so impressed with him and he passed him onto Bang Shi Hyuk.

Bang PD basically created the whole idea of BTS around RM. He said that the moment he met RM he knew that he was special and it would be a waste of skill to not hone his talent.

RM now has the most production credits for the lyrics he writes and songs he produced for BTS. His lyrics are very poetic and are usually profound, finding root in various forms of literary works. He has a very commanding stage aura when he raps.

He has released 2 mixtapes so far. His first mixtape RM was released on March 17, 2015 and his second, Mono was released last year, October 23, 2018. His studio is now Rkive (formerly Mon studio).

Personality wise, Namjoon is more timid than his stage persona. He enjoys quiet morning walks in nature. His song Reflection even has a layer of one of his recordings of his surrounding while at a park. He is very clumsy, hence his nickname in the group as “god of destruction”. He also has a very interesting take on fashion which you can see from his #kimdaily posts on twitter.

Kim Seokjin (김석진 aka Jin)

bday: December 4, 1992

height: 179 cm (5’10.5”)

BT21 character: RJ

Though Seokjin is the eldest member of BTS, he often doesn’t act like it. He was street casted by BigHit. Idol companies usually do this in Korea when they find someone with standout visuals in a crowd. He was actually scouted by SM too (company managing EXO) but he thought it was a scam and he never showed up. He took his chances with BigHit.

He had no singing nor dancing exprience when he started training with BigHit. He wanted to be an actor. All of his skills come from sheer determination and hardwork. In my opinion, he has the most emotional voice among the members. His range has developed immensely.

Despite having a cheerful and light hearted persona, he is actually really deep and smart. He graduated from Konkuk University last February 22, 2017 with a degree in Film and Visual Arts and majored in Film and Acting. He was part of the early admissions list and is now taking his Masters degree for Film in Hanyang Online University.

Personality wise, he is loud and playful. He is also easily surprised. He gained the nickname “Worldwide Handsome” after his visuals and confidence made people pay attention during one of the red carpets in the US. His father is apparently a CEO and his mother is a beauty queen.

He said he gained his confidence after bleaching his hair blonde and gaining much reaction during their live performance of “FIRE” where he gave air kisses. To top his amazing visuals and vocals, he also plays the piano and the guitar. Oh! And he has a sugarglider as a pet. No joke.

Jung Hoseok (정호석 aka J-Hope)

position: rapper, lead dancer

bday: February 18, 1994

height: 177 cm (5’9.7”)

family: parents, older sister

hometown: Gwangju

BT21 character: Mang

Jhope, also called fondly by the members as Hobi and Hoseoki, is the lead dancer of BTS. He had no rapping experience prior to training with Bighit and was initially trained to be a vocalist.

He was fairly known in the dance scene of his hometown and was even a part of a dance crew called “Neuron”. His love for dancing led him to audition as a trainee at a company called JYP (company that manages GOT7). He passed a few auditions there but was eventually cut as a trainee.

He didn’t give up though and went on to audition for BigHit. He started training as a vocalist for the supposed rap group which included RM and Suga, but due to the influence of the rap trainees around him, his affinity for rap and lyric writing grew.

He is now in charge of dance for BTS and though he doesn’t get much center formation attention or spotlight, everyone knows that he is the one helping the most with choreographies and training each member. He is very detail oriented and is very observant of each member. Namjoon even said that if he wasn’t the leader, he would want Jhope to be the leader.

He has a number of production credits too and released his own mix tape, Hope World on March 1, 2018. His studio is also called Hope World.

He has a very smiley persona and his energy is always alive. He is also the most easily scared, he is scared of almost everything! The members said that his happy persona came with the name, not that he was named Jhope for how he has always been. Jhope said that the name used to be burdensome but now he loves it and wears it with pride as the Hope of ARMY and BTS.

Park Jimin (박지민 aka Jimin)

Park Jimin is arguably one of the most charismatic idols out there right now. His duality of being sexy on stage and fluffy cute off stage make fans everywhere melt. This characteristic is shared mostly by the Maknae line (younger members line) of BTS.

He has had the shortest trainee period among the BTS members. before he joined Bighit, he attended the Busan High School of Arts, where he was a top student in the Department of Dance. His specialty is contemporary. One of his teachers urged him to audition for BigHit. His natural skills got him in. He trained as a vocalist under BigHit and now his vocal skills has improved largely as shown by his solo works.

He used to have chubby cheeks which earned him the nickname of Manggaettok (rice cake) and the members also call him ChimChim because of a show they had called American Hustle Life.

He is the most active on social media. He even posts for other members when the fans say they haven’t seen the members for too long. Most affectionate member also goes to him. He is often seen hugging or clinging on to the members. If a member cries, best believe Jimin will hug and comfort them after.

But Jimin isn’t all sweets, smiles, and sexiness. He is also very strong willed. He judges himself very harshly and strives for perfection. Lately, he has appeared to be more relaxed and said that he has been allowing himself to take breaks and also enjoy, which the fans who worry about him is very happy to know.

Kim Taehyung (김태형 aka V)

The most handsome male specimen in the world for the year 2017. Kim Taehyung’s charms are endless. From his square shaped sheepish smile to his deadly on-stage smirks, it’s hard not to be drawn in by him.

He wasn’t planning on auditioning. He accompanied his friend who wanted to audition. The auditions were held in their school because he went to an arts HS. The staff saw him there and convinced him to audition too. He trained his voice under BigHit too and now has the widest vocal range among them, not to mention his deep, soulful baritone balances out the vocals of the rest of the singing members.

He has a very keen eye for arts and aethetitics and he uses this for his hobby, photography. His favorite photographer, Vante even acknowledged his work. Tae-Tae, as Jimin fondly calls him, is the only one so far who has debuted as an actor among the members. He played the role of a young warrior in the series called Hwarang. His dancing has also improved. He didn’t have much dancing skills when he started, but his groove has now definitely changed and he has his own way of interpreting dance moves too.

In terms of lyrics writing and producing, like the other vocalists, his skills developed too. He co-wrote 4 o’ clock with RM and has continued to take part in writing for their songs.

Taehyung is very curious and unique. His laugh is deep and adorable. As part of the maknae line, he is also quite playful but his maturity has grown through the years. He has a pomeranian named Yeontan (coal brick), who is now one of the pets of the fandom.

Jeon Jungkook (전정국 aka Jungkook)

The baby of the group, Kookie. He is a well trained dancer with the smooth pop voice that carries most of the melodies of Bangtan’s songs.

Before joining BigHit, Jungkook auditioned for a talent show in Korea called SuperstarK. He didn’t make the cut for the show, but after the audtion, he received a number of calling cards from scouts of different big K-Idol companies, including the very small BigHit. Jungkook said that he chose BigHit because he was very impressed by RM. After he joined BigHit, he had the opportunity of being trained in LA for dance.

He has a tendency of starting different projects for himself, playing the drums, the guitar, etc. But, he found his niche in film production and even has his own brand of behind the scene footages of BTS under his production brand, Golden Closet Films.

He has been called the golden maknae because of his natural skills and visuals fit for being an idol, not to mention that body and his determination to keep working out for it. No wonder companies were eager to train him.

Jungkook has been growing in his music production too and has helped compose, produce and write some of their songs, like their song, Magic Shop. He is a powerhouse on stage and baby our of it. He looks up to his hyungs a lot and said that they basically brought him up since he started training at such a young age.

Min Yoongi (민윤기 aka SUGA)

BT21 character: Shooky

Suga’s love for music was developed at an early age. When he was 13 he started working at a studio to learn more about music production. As the years progressed he joined an underground rap group in Daegu called “D-Town.” And even before auditioning for BigHit, he has created beats for various underground big names in hiphop.

He auditioned through a hiphop competition called “Hit It” and he placed 2nd over all. He initially joined the company as a producer but Bang PD was able to convince him to be part of BTS. He still jokes that Bang PD tricked him into joining cause he thought it was going to be a rap group.

Though his outward demeanor seems cold and lazy, the members actually talk about how he spends most of his time working at his studio and going home when the sun comes up. He may also seem timid but he has been vocal about various social issues like LGBT, poverty and education. He has also made it a personal traidtion to donate to charities or gift fans on his birthday.

He released his mixtape Agust D on August 15, 2016. There he opened up about his struggle with mental health and his view of himself. He also narrated his journey to becoming part of BTS. His studio is called “Genius Lab.”

To date, Yoongi has helped in producing and writing a number of BTS songs too. He also produced a song titles Wine with K singer Suran which topped various Korean charts. It was in the end lauded and he received his first solo award for production. Hence his nickname, Min PD.

That’s a given I think since it’s something he’s known by but he really does make me extraordinarily happy so it fits.

JinJin: Smiley Jinwoo

I love his full name and I almost always use an idols full name in any situation. I mean “JinJin” is adorable obviously, but “Jinwoo” makes me real soft. And he’s a smiley puppy and I can think about his smile anytime and it will automatically make me feel a million times better.

Eunwoo: Prince Dongmin

Again with the full/real name. And “prince” because not only is he very princely in appearance, he also has, in my opinion, some of the most important qualities a prince should have. I’m all about appreciating him for more than just his face!

Moonbin: Binnie Bug

So I have this thing where I only call specific people “bug”. Like it’s not a nickname I use lightly, it’s special to me for a reason that I’m not even able to describe. Binnie just happens to be one of those specific people. And my favorite name to call him is “Binnie” because it sounds cuddly and cute and I call him “Bin” or “Moonbin” when he’s being rude 😂

Rocky: Dancing Minhyuk

Real name again 👍 and he’s extraordinary at dancing. Nothing exciting about this tag, honestly. It doesn’t mean I love him any less!!! I would protect him with my life.

Sanha: Bbu Bbu Sanha

Sanha is captain of Astro’s boat. 👌 And he’s beyond adorable when he says “bbu bbu” so every time I tag it it makes me giggle and smile because I think about how cute he is and how much I wanna pinch his cheeks urghhhhhh I love him.

I read somewhere when they first debuted that he has a nickname of “cucumber” because he’s tall and I thought it was cute and went with it. The “watermelon” part is because one of my favorite outfits he’s ever worn reminded me of a watermelon. I shall include a photo to illustrate my point, but also because he’s adorable.

I explained this recently but I’ll just say it again since I’m on a roll lmao. He’s, a lot of the time, sinful to look at. But he’s also basically the cutest living being. And if he was an animal, I know everyone says bunny which I totally agree with, but in my brain, he’s an axolotl. I made a post about it a while back with photos side by side and, quite frankly, I cried a little about how cute I find the comparison to be. Maybe I’ll look for it, and cry again, and repost it.

Minhyuk: Soft Angel Face

I don’t mean this in a negative way so I’m not really sure how to word this without it sounding that way, but 95% of the time, I’m not wildly attracted to Minnie. It’s not that I don’t find him attractive at all, it’s just he’s more often than not extraordinarily adorable and pretty to me. There’s still that 5% of the time where he messes with my head but for the most part, he’s very soft and sweet and angelic looking to me.

Kihyun: Hamster Clam

This is one of my personal favorites 😂 This is the one I think about at 3 AM and laugh about. He’s compared to a hamster all the time and I love it so much and think it’s so accurate. But the clam part *starts laughing again* There’s this moment in some interview of MX’s, I have no idea what it was since I’ve never seen the full thing, just this clip that’s permanently ingrained in my mind, but Kihyun says something about like clam chowder or something and than Changkyun takes the mic and says “You look like a clam. Sorry.” It makes me laugh randomly and that’s why I chose it. Every Monbebe knows about that clip I’m sure. I’m still relatively new here so I don’t know everything and feel like I have to explain what I do know lmao

Hyungwon: Anime Prince

He’s so princely to me. Like he just looks regal. Don’t get me wrong, he’s a complete dork, but he looks very princely in my opinion. And to me, and probably other people, he looks like he just stepped out of an anime at any given moment of any given day. As an anime and manga lover, it makes me feel some type o’ way.

Jooheon: Joobee

Obviously known as JooHoney, I wanted to go off the beaten path and this is what my brain came up with. It’s not very creative, I’m aware of that. But I think it sounds really adorable and it fits him and I’d probably call him that if I knew him irl too.

Changkyun: Crisis Causing Boy

Curse this boy, I swear. He messes with me sooooo much. One minute he’s squishy and so so cute and I just wanna cuddle with him. The next minute he’s *string of curse words*. A demon. A demon, I tell you. He has caused me to have more crises than I can count so that’s why his tag is what it is.

As for tags for members of other groups I don’t stan yet, I only have one because I couldn’t pass up the opportunity when it presented itself in my brain. Also, I consider Ateez to be one of the groups I stan but I don’t have tags for them other than their names yet. Anyway, the one I have a tag for.

Woozi: Oojigoojigoo

I both hate myself for this and am impressed that I’m crazy enough to think of this. I just had to find out that his name is pronounced “oo-ji” and not phonetically. My exact thoughts when I discovered this are as follows: *gasp* “Ooji.” *has epiphany* *another gasp* “A baby.” *fawns over his cuteness* “Ooji - gooji - goo!” *is ashamed* “I’m a disgrace. I am the scum of the earth. I’m a genius!”

So yeah, I wrote a fucking novel I’m sorry 😂 You probably didn’t want all of this information. But now everyone knows my secrets…..? Are they secrets? Not really. Anyway, I’m sorry this is the longest post ever but I hope you at least find something of this entertaining or cute or any positive emotion really. And thank you so much for asking. I love exposing my horrible mind and terrible sense of humor to the world.

No seriously thank you. I’ve got questions about my tags before so I’m glad people are at least somewhat interested in them and what they mean/where they came from. muse updates!! i know this trended like a month ago, but i thought it was brilliant then but never got around to it, so i’m doing it now. just an update on my three children, and things i have planned for them!! there are some plot ideas beneath, so if you’re interested please do hit me up!

yujin:

is super nervous about the element comeback because she realizes that it’s time for them to gather some domestic attention. while she appreciates all the love their international fans give them, she really doesn’t want to go on another world tour with just like five new songs.

her brand ambassador deal with banila co. is now officially over, and she’s become more interested in the beauty/fashion area, so i’ll probably have her venture towards that side a little more with point claims!

i also plan on having her release a promoted single, but that won’t be until the later half of the year!

overall, she’s pretty content, as always, but if this new comeback doesn’t do too well, i see her falling into a minor slump where she starts doubting her path as an idol. like she trained six years, and she’s having a sort of “for what?” moment

( plot idea!! ) this also means she’s in a pretty vulnerable place so if your muse wants to play with her heart and then leave her broken, this is the perfect timing!! aka i want yujin to angst a little so if you want an angsty/your-muse-is-a-jerk plot, hmu!

suji:

after the success of her mini album (yes, she’ll call it a success because it actually charted!!), she’s a lot more interested in pursuing more solo music

( plot idea!! ) she’s more of a lyricist rather than a composer, so she might try to seek out some composing friends and get more help because as of now, all she knows how to do is string chords together on a guitar or piano and call it a day. the mechanics behind composition is fascinating so if your muse is a composer, feel free to hmu to plot! she would really appreciate the help

another minor plot idea, i guess? but i plan on having suji release sejeong’s flower road around september, and while she may write the lyrics, i would like it if somebody else produced it? because in real life, zico produced the song, and i think it’d be nice if that happened in famed-verse as well! so if you would like your muse to produce the song, message me!

overall, she’s very musically focused and wants to try more as a soloist, yet she’s also afraid that people may think she’s losing interest in fuse which is false!! she still puts her group first, but if you’re a fuse member and want to plot a possible fall-out because your muse assumes that suji is leaving them behind, hmu pls !!

or even if your muse isn't a fuse member, but you think suji is becoming too solo-centered, they can argue about that as well lmao

hyeju:

while she doesn’t appear so, she’s a little worried for lipstick’s future. they’ve obviously already hit their peak and are slowly on a decline, and she definitely finds that to be a definite thing in this industry. however, she doesn’t know what she wants to do with her future.

because she never dreamed of being an idol, she’s not sure what she’d do if lipstick just stopped promoting and went on an indefinite hiatus.

she wants to try venturing into a soloist, but she’s not sure if it’d work out for her or what kind of music she’ll release (although, i, as a mun, already know what she’s going to release).

she’s always sort of been known as a variety member, so i may have her guesting on some shows so she isn’t jobless all the time lmao

( plot idea!! ) if anybody wants to have a semi-emotional thread/relationship going on with her, feel free to probe her about lipstick, and their future. it’d be better if your muse doubts that lipstick is going anywhere further with all the members having solo releases!!

VIXX: An Outsiders Perspective

Now, I’ve decided on doing a VIXX critique using this formula because I’m very new to their work. As requested by some followers, I’ve crammed in as much information as I could about their music recently and want to share my thoughts on them and where they could improve.

Let’s start.

The Good

Niche Music: VIXX is probably the most eclectic group I’ve done so far in that many of their singles are, essentially, pop-rock tracks. They are not a ‘hippity-hoppity, let’s throw on a blackcent and a bandana’ type of group, which, I argue, gives them space at the table in the music industry. Of all the groups I can think of, it’s them that is doing this capitalism thing right. People want differentiation in products and with VIXX being Nickelback-meets-NSYNC in an industry of Skrillex-meets-Chris Brown-meets-Soulja Boy’s, it’s actually kind of refreshing

Surprisingly Decent Vocal Line: VIXX stans can argue all day whether Jaehwan (Ken) or Taekwoon (Leo) is the superior vocal, but it’s obvious it’s Hakyeon (N). Let me tell you why: N has a stronger vocal technique than either Leo or Ken from what I’ve seen. Now, I know I could use to watch more VIXX performances but, as I said, from what I’ve seen N protects his voice more than the other two. Funnily enough, Ken is actually my favorite of them all. His tone is just agreeable. Even so, I find it difficult to find too many issues with Leo’s voice because he has the best stage presence of them all--bringing emotion into his performances that feels genuine--even if it’s not much

Creative Involvement: Hate him or love him, Wonsik (Ravi) is involved in just about every VIXX release that immediately comes to mind. And while this isn’t a requirement for me to find an idol good at what they do (will get into the distinction between artist and idol another time), I find it admirable. This is especially so since VIXX has some songs with very powerful lyrical content and meaning

Recent Improvement in Music Production: While my section on VIXX’s music will come later, I want to note now that VIXX’s latest release sounds very crisp and clean, which is a sign of improvement. Anytime a group grows, I always find it in me to give them a plus on the improvement. But seriously, their releases used to sound like they were recorded on a flip phone from a radio station that played it from a 1942 record player. It was a whole low-sonic quality mess. Now it finally sounds like what 2k HD looks like

The ‘Needs to Improve’

Dance Line:

Current - While I find Hakyeon lighter than air and graceful in his movement, he does not captivate me. His dancing lacks energy at times and can even be seen as lethargic. He can’t even hold charismatic facial expressions because of it. While he delivers at times (his TOXIC routine is gold), he usually looks flat out exhausted. Perhaps this has something to do with being the main dancer in a group with only one back up for him?

Improvement - That said, I think Hakyeon can be saved. It’s clear that he has talent but not the proper outlet to show it. What I argue needs to happen for the dance line, particularly Hakyeon is a change in VIXX’s dancing style. I think that with more gender-fluid choreography, Hakyeon’s style could shine through. He looks best when performing choreography that isn’t attached to the mainstream kpop style for boy groups. Injecting feminine energy into VIXX’s choreography would make for a more lively performance than their typical point dances (if you’re curious as to what I mean, I urge you to check out Taemin’s MOVE or watch a strip show)

Music:

Current - VIXX’s music, for lack of a better term, is dated. The music they debuted with was about 5 years behind the industry (which was already five years behind the American industry) and they’re just now playing catch-up with their latest release. When I listen to some of those songs, I get the distinct feeling that VIXX watched SHINee Lucifer once and decided to model their entire discography off of it. Even to their latest release, it sounds like something EXO would’ve released in 2016. Now, you can argue that older-sounding music is a good thing, but in VIXX’s case, it’s not. Their music is not timeless, it’s just usually dated on arrival

Improvement - Even with their music being dated, it’s still different from the norm and has a sound that no other kpop group since VIXX’s debut has even wanted to touch. They can easily take this sound and update it, giving them a 2013 Paramore feel (which, 2013 Paramore still sounds like fresh alternative rock music)

Current - A lot of their music sounds the same. There’s some standouts like Love Me Do and Only U, but most of it sounds like different variations of songs like Error and Chained Up

Improvement - See: Paramore. Seriously. I’m not talking about their most recent album but in albums before that they still had music that felt like Paramore without being the same thing rehashed. I think VIXX could ultimately go the soft EDM-pop rock fusion route and eliminate the High School Musical 4 sound that invades many of their songs

Visuals:

Current - VIXX’s music videos aren’t horrible, not even by a stretch. They’re just not interesting. This is pretty standard in kpop, but that doesn’t mean they should shoot for the sky when they can have the moon. Their concepts are usually so interesting and so different from the norm that they could really get creative with their music videos

Improvement - VIXX finally got their hands on cameras that weren’t attached to iPhones, so can they now get a VFX and SFX team to bring their concepts to life without looking like a cheesy low budget mess? I know they come from a smaller company and may not have the money to really go all out but I think it’s worth a shot to find a good production team to execute their concepts better. At the very least, they could use better direction and maybe even give their videos a story line. Am I the only one who’d find a plot for Chained Up dope, especially since the song itself tells a story?

The Irredeemable

Get rid of Ravi. There, I said it, it’s done.

I know VIXX stans gonna hate my ass lmao. But, I’m not saying he’s a bad artist/not talented/etc. I just don’t know that he’s right for VIXX’s progression as a musical performance entity. Here is my main reason:

VIXX should be a vocal k-pop/rock group. They don’t need a rapper, never did. In fact, rap portions usually do not advance VIXX’s songs. Instead, it sounds like forcing a YG-reject to fit in with a SHINee/CNBlue hybrid experiment. Ravi’s an okay singer, but he’s not good enough to eat at the table with Ken and Leo, who are more like ex-EXO/DBSK members to me

Another thing that limits VIXX is the fact that they are very boybandish at times. Now you may say, ‘Sis, they are a boyband,’ but this crtique isn’t about what VIXX is, it’s about what they could be. VIXX has the potential to be the emo cousin of EXO, with moody concepts and experimental choreography. I know some of them play instruments as well, which could only add to their new identity once we’ve cut them down. The South American and Southeast Asian markets would eat that up, especially since VIXX is already so good at it

Also, maybe not be trash? I kind of wanted to avoid this, but it’s hard to do considering the fact that all I knew about VIXX before working on this was the fact that N was bullied into submission by the members and some of them have said some vile things that only compete with the likes of Suju for their level of trashness. The main reason why I wanted to mention this is because of what I see for VIXX’s path in the future (I also want to note that I didn’t let this color my musical critique of VIXX)

I see VIXX as a staple in Latin America and Southeast Asia, but it’s hard to do when you’re constantly shit-talking the looks of the people who inhabit these areas. Dark skin and Tanned skin are beautiful and nothing to be ashamed of. Pale skin isn’t superior and calling someone a “half-breed” as an insult isn’t funny? All it does is alienates potential fans from the markets that would be open to your style the most. Because, if I’m being honest, I don’t know many people from where I’m from (probably the whitest place in America) that would be too into VIXX’s music and concepts. Their wave is more appropriate for places like Brazil and The Phillipines. If they want to grow their audience, they need to grow as people

Final Thoughts

Hongbin and Hyuk both remind me of Sehun. Take that as you want.

VIXX is not meant for the Bangtan trajectory. They have their own special place in kpop that is so unique from other groups that they shouldn’t worry themselves with North American success. I think they’re talented men with something to prove, and with a little adjustment, they can become a niche phenomenon

This is the only game I have played where I truly didn't know anyone (except my very first ORG). What an experience. I know last confessional I said Sam and Shane were both kinda on the fence for me in terms of if I wanted to maybe work with them or not. An update: I think I want to work with both! Both of them, unprompted, told me they wanted to work with me if we lost immunity, and I have actually been getting along well with both of them I feel now that our conversations are moving past the sort of awkward beginning stages. I still like Sammy even though I probably should talk to him more oops... and Daisy/Lovelis/Ethan are also still in my good books. I kind of keep forgetting Pete and Cloud are on this tribe but when I remember, I am happy they are here. That being said, I think Cloud or Madison will be the first to go if we lose. Cloud is very inactive. Madison is too but she was at least on the call tonight. It might come down to how immunity goes. I want to participate because it will bond us as a team. That way even if we lose, I was a part of the team effort and won't stand out as someone who people don't know or want to work with. Also while I personally want Cloud or Madison out as I know them the least, I am not going to push it. I'll let somebody else throw out a name and as long as that name isn't Jessica then I will consider it. I sort of chilled today with the social game and only messaged people as they messaged me. The vibe of this team is very relaxed from what I can tell and I didn't want to overdo it with conversations and come across as too much. Tomorrow, my goal is to talk to every single person for at least 1 (one) whole real conversation. I might have to start using my good ol' tactic of sending people random youtube links and saying "what do you think of this" to get something going.... Honestly nothing starts a conversation like David Hasselhoff and his cinematic masterpieces that we call music videos. I hope the other tribe is full of problems so that when we eventually swap, I have a very easy time in this game.

WE ARE IMMUNE!!! I’m so excited to have flipped the vote on Silver AND got us immunity but, I’m gonna have to be more careful if I’m gonna go far in this game. I know I can be strategic, I can be a comp threat but I really have to work on making myself a little dimmer in the social department. CNU MEGAPOST

Yes, I finally got around to reposting it in all it’s humble glory~! ✨✨

To give a quick backstory for those who did not see the original, I received an ask about a year ago asking why CNU was my ultimate bias (and to explain it in detail). Of course, me being the wordy person I am (In addition to how much I actually do just adore the bear), I wrote an extremely long-winded response.

Unfortunately since I deleted my blog a few months after posting, my CNU Megapost got lost along with it. So! Under the cut is my original answer to why exactly I love CNU~ (anything italics represents new notes, the rest is unchanged! Besides a few new gifs)

ahh this sounds like an exam question! haha I must admit, I had this finished a few days ago. But, what better day to post this than on CNU’s Birthday? So, Happy Birthday Shinwoo! This is better than any sappy gif set I could make anyways!

Reading my tags, I’m sure you can see that I am quite verbose at times. So I certainly can give you a very detailed explanation of why I adore CNU... which I’ll put under a cut for obvious length reasons.

So I tried to think of the best way to go about this and keep it organized. I have some main points that I then went further into detail describing, and listed them in what I guess we can say is least important to most important.

First off, as I’m sure many would say about their bias, I obviously find him attractive. To be honest, it didn’t start out this way. The first time I saw B1A4, it was stumbling upon their ‘Beautiful Target’ MV they had released just a few weeks prior at the time, and CNU looked like this:

(didn’t I screenshot such a nice moment?) Ok, in his defense none of them looked spectacular, although they all did look super adorable. I didn’t have a bias right away, but I did quickly fall for the group themselves. It didn’t take too long before CNU’s more gentle appearance got to me though. I loved his sweet eye smile, and how he had non-standard idol features, like his round nose and bunny teeth, his glasses and funky hairdos.

UGH that was a look. Anyways, as he matured, despite loosing the quirky hairdos, opting to not wear glasses as often, and shaving down his bunny teeth (took some time but I did eventually get over Baro and him doing it lol), I found him to become even more attractive. He filled out and became this mega broad-shouldered man capable of giving me pseudo heart palpations. (Also on a side note, I also think it’s nice that he’s not super thin like the majority of idols.)

ok! Wow, first bullet point done!

As a next point, I love the way that CNU treats his fans in such a manner of adoration. All of the boys have their own manner of acknowledging the fans. We all know Gongchan has his insane fan service: Jinyoung writes songs and tries to include BANA in their projects, Sandeul and Baro like to play off each other to entertain them... but CNU’s actions are a little more understated. In the beginning, it was a running joke that CNU was even too embarrassed to say he loved the fans. He was a very shy bear when they debuted. Even so, you can tell in the conversations and responses he had with the fans, even back in the beginning, how much he cared about them, giving them advice and wanting them to do and be the best that they could be. It’s something he continues to do still, even though luckily for us he’s overcome his fear of the ‘L’ word. Instead of just telling the fans that from the beginning, he waited until he was comfortable with it, when we knew it was sincere. In his posts, he trusts the fans by giving them updates on how he is, even when the news is sad. He continues to give his advice, and presents it in such a way that we know that we’re not going through it alone-- he has his down days, his doubts and his own anxieties, just like everyone else. But his encouragement to always push forward is something I admire so greatly in him. He always remembers to drop by, even just to say hi. And he always reminds us that we help him, just as much as he (tw: suicide mention in the following ‘helps’ link-->) helps us. While his responses may be simple at times, they are heartfelt, and even through his interactions and gaze you can truly see how much he cares.

Some other CNU w/fans/fan letter pics --> (x)(x)(x)(x) Note the beautiful smile in each one. In other words, CNU doesn’t cover up who he is for the fan’s sake. He trusts us enough to be honest with what he is going through (although this took some time for him to work up to, which I’ll be getting to later), and is genuinely interested in how our well being is. To me, the fact that he isn’t over the top, instead opting to have more mundane, normal conservations through twitter or the fancafes demonstrates a sincerity that is hard to come by, especially with people you don’t know. But for CNU, if you’re a BANA, than you are part of this intimate circle. You can feel his appreciation of your support.

Now to get into the more detailed points. (The first two were child’s play compared to these next two 😌 ) I love CNU’s relationships with his fellow members. They are the people he has been with since he was in high school. Who he began with, in a nondescript building where they had only a few rooms to train in. He spent sleepless nights with them, worrying if they were good enough to debut, if they even had a chance to make it. Even before they deputed, there was already so much they had been through together, stories that they shared in their small dorm. In such a cramped space, you have little choice but to express your emotions with each other; And B1A4 made it a promise amongst themselves, since the beginning, that they would be open and talk with each other. Alright, so I admit I’m getting off track here, since this is about my CNU thirst and not about pre-debut B1A4. But I think there needs to be a little background set-up to better understand where I’m going with this. The basis of the members’ relationships was set up from these beginnings, and gradually evolved into the deep brotherhood they have today.

With Gongchan, CNU had certainly felt the need to step in and fill the older brother role. Though Gongchan was an older sibling himself, with the members even admitting his maturity, that wouldn’t stop CNU from being a protector. He felt the need to correct Gongchan, and while of course coming from a good place, it was something that Gongchan didn’t come to understand and appreciate until much later. Maybe because of this, Gongchan was said to be awkward around CNU (although I personally don’t really believe this, I think that they are both just the type to be comfortable with silence. Besides, there’s still plenty of moments from the early days where they were caught goofing with each other! )

My favorite thing about the Shinchan relationship is that CNU respects Gongchan, and has acknowledged that as Gongchan got older, he was no longer the same minor that needed direction at every turn. I think CNU and Gongchan make a nice pair, with CNU able to have moments of seriousness with him, but also being able to let down his guard and have some fun himself.

CNU’s relationship with Baro I think is an interesting one-- Shinro, or as I and some other’s like to call it, 2woo (cause who wouldn’t want two woo’s for the price of 1, ha ). Similar to Gongchan, CNU acted more as a guardian to Baro in the beginning than a fellow teammate. Baro himself has admitted that he got into trouble pre-debut (only some white lies and skipped practices, remember we’re talking about the living, breathing, walking, angels B1A4), which lead to CNU stepping in to help get him back on track. It wasn’t all scolding however; CNU took his place as guardian in a more emotional way when Baro thought he would be alone at his graduation. Showing up there with Jinyoung cemented his place as a support system that was deeper than being just teammates. What adds an interesting layer to their relationship is their liking for similar r&b and hip-hop music/style, something the other members don’t really share. Out of this, comes the true 2woo brotp pureness-- seen in the beautiful selcas here:

And has never gone away. Of course it’s not all swagness, with them having their cute moments as well. But while Gongchan brings out a pure, maternal side to our bear, Baro brings out his hidden Usher. It is more of a brotherhood dynamic, with less cute skinship and more of the sibling roughness (not necessarily physical roughness) many of us can relate to.

Compared to the other two, I don’t think Sandeul was quite as dependent on CNU to steer him. Despite the quirky, loud duck we tend to see on programs, Sandeul has always seemed to have a pretty good head on his shoulders. What Sandeul does bring out in CNU, however, is his own inner child and playfulness. There’s a comfort to their relationship, that was always apparent from day one. I’d think a lot of people would argue, just by glancing at the dynamics of the group over the years, that CNU and Sandeul are the closest (and looks like I still stand by this!). And while I’m not sure if that’s true necessarily, they definitely are physically the closest, with CNU having an ease with touching and playing around with him. A lot of times, I think CNU relies on physically teasing Sandeul to help ease any tension he may be feeling, or to try and generate a laugh. They play off each other quite well. And while there may be a few moments where I’m even internally screaming for CNU to leave our poor duck alone for 10 minutes, Sandeul never seems to mind, and I think this is because he knows CNU’s motives aren’t tainted. Once and a while, Sandeul even gets the chance to get his small revenges on CNU. (and I live for those moments. Especially when he gets back at Baro too.)

Too cute. Like I had mentioned, despite CNU’s nagging and occasional torments, their relationship is extremely close, because CNU respects Sandeul for the large and important role that he plays in the group. He is the main vocal, and when it comes to his singing, CNU is always one to compliment Sandeul, mentioning how cool he appears singing. CNU went to Sandeul for advice when it was his turn to take a stab at musicals, knowing that Sandeul has had more experience than he has. It is this yin and yang, the lighted hearted jokes with the deep mutual respect, that really allows CNU and Sandeul to be so close to each other.

Ah, down to the final member. Jinyoung and CNU, my otp *screams ‘shinyoung' from the rooftops* And of course, since they’re my otp, the laws of the universe say that they must interact the least with each other compared to all the other members. But, that doesn’t mean they aren’t close. Pre-debut, I think CNU and Jinyoung spent the most amount of time together out of all the members. Being the same age, it was natural for them to become close. Once they graduated from high school, they even went to Japan together, a trip with just the two of them. From their first impressions of one another, they began to rely on each other a lot. With Jinyoung taking the more ‘father’ role of the group and cnu falling into place as the ‘mom’, it was just natural for them to develop an easy way of communication as the ‘parents’ that didn’t need to involve the bold displays of affection like that seen with CNU and the younger members. The members themselves know of the lack of physical affection between the two eldest, and much of the skinship/moments we do see with them is generally due to the younger three initiating it or ganging up on the two grandpas, leading to wonderfully cute, awkward moments. (It seems the others are just as big of Shinyoung supporters as I am! lol) The Nico Nico Japan program also seems to feed off of forcing the duo into great situations as well. The moments shared between the two when not harassed by the members are generally much simpler, but endearing all the same. I think there’s a slight trepidation to show how much fun they do have together, but they provide some of the funniest moments that bipo as to offer. There’s a humor between the two, that unfortunately seems to get overshadowed by the louder pairs. But there’s also a tenderness to it as well— CNU isn’t afraid to cling onto Jinyoung during times of weakness, and Jinyoung isn’t afraid to lose it with his crush-like giggles over the stupid things CNU jokes about, or have CNU help him when he gets lost. (honestly though, half the time it isn’t even remotely funny but hey, CNU has seemed to found Jinyoung’s sense of humor) Bottom line is that the Shinyoung relationship is one built on an extreme amount of respect, and even a slight dependence, on one another. It is understated, but complex, seen only truly in the small shared moments versus the forced comicalness.

I think this video below from CNU’s first birthday after their debut provides a cute summary of what I mentioned above. I think each of the relationships shine, in their own way as they each wish CNU happy birthday.

This last point was the most difficult, and took me the longest to write. How can I begin to explain what I really love about CNU? That every little component that makes him up, I find to be so perfectly wonderful? I admit that I’m being quite sappy, but for the most part, it is true. Going back to what I first said at the beginning of this post, my first impression of CNU and the rest of the boys was that they just seemed like goofy, happy guys around the same age as me, dressed in silly outfits. They radiated positivity and a genuine warmth that immediately got me hooked. With CNU, he was very quiet for the most part during those early years. In reality, he’s still not a talker now, but in comparison he was really quiet back then lol. I think what stood out to me was that he always seemed to be both a step behind, and a step ahead, but never fully immersed in the present. What I mean is, he always seemed to be thinking of what was just said, turning it over in his mind, while thinking of how to react with what was said or done. And by the time he thought of what he considered the appropriate reaction, the moment would have passed anyway. Not only mentally, but for physical reactions as well, he is always thinking about the action fully before planning his own move. It wasn’t before long that the joke came about of him being slow, like a bear. And while the members themselves have admitted from time to time that in actuality, CNU can be quite fast if he needs to, I think it stems from all this internal thinking and contemplation constantly going through his mind. His outward appearance may look and be slow, but internally, I think his mind is constantly churning ideas. Specifically, what drew me in, is that I can relate to this very much myself. Now, I’m not physically slow like CNU may be half the time, but mentally, I do find myself going over what people say, thinking why they may have said it, what motivations they may have (not necessarily bad motivations either— this could be with my family and friends too, much like CNU with his members). But, for the most part, I used to do this when I would find myself being unsure, or in uncertain situations where I would feel a little uncomfortable. This got me to thinking, is that why CNU is like this? And in my opinion, I would say yes. In the beginning, I think CNU was very unsure of himself. Unsure of how he should act, unsure of how he should react, unsure of how he looked, unsure of what others thought of him, unsure if he was even cut out to be an idol. So I think relating to him in this way made him seem so human to me. I feel like when idols first debut they always seem to cute and shiny and new. But having an idol like him that I could see some doubts with, I was just stunned. He’s a very internal person, and I think he was so shy early on, like with doing aegyo, or telling the fans he loved them, because it was something out of his comfort zone, and because of that, he had a fear of messing up. And if he messed up, he was in turn afraid it would get negative reactions out of watchers or even fans. I had already mentioned how much CNU cares about his fans, but bringing it back to him personally, I think there’s one incident that really sums all this up. Basically, he forgot a fan’s letter in the dressing room, and later, someone discovered that it was thrown in the trash (probably by a janitor or other staff). But in his long winded apology he goes on about even mentioned that he knows this fan because of the type of paper design they use, shows not only his care, but also this fear I had mentioned that people might judge him, especially over an accident that was not his fault. Again, this is something I can relate to, as I’m sure many of us can. We want people to like us, but the fact that it’s really out of our control is scary. We can try as hard as we can, but with one wrong move (especially in the idol business) it can all go out the window. Another moment demonstrating this mentality of his was when B1A4 finally (finally!!) had their first win with What’s Happening.

(Ahh I still get goosebumps watching it!!) But really, look at his reaction. All of them I think had the thought of ‘Yes! We Made It!’ Gongchan’s getting emotional, Sandeul’s hiding in the back, Baro starts to cry and the end, Jinyoung’s barely holding it together… but CNU is literally sobbing, breaking down, on stage. This is one of the first times he can’t control what everyone sees, and it’s ironic because the main reason he is breaking down is because he’s probably thinking that yes, after all this time, they do like us, they do accept me. After so many years of being unsure of himself, and being our introspective bear, thinking too much about how he should act, here’s a moment when he finally lets it go. It’s been so great seeing him grow, and in a sense, mature, out of this state. With their last comeback (last comeback means ‘Sweet Girl’ based upon when I initially wrote this), he let his emotions flow freely; Going to their most recent Private Life ep, we can see him being silly and doing crazy dances with Jinyoung, singing the ‘Pick Me’ song. (I had linked it above in the Jinyoung section lol). I think a lot of Banas who have been following bipo for some time would agree with me that, what we saw in that video, would never have happened with debut—2013 CNU. Sure, he did silly things and had cute moments, but it was generally with the members always there, especially Sandeul or Baro, acting as his barrier or cushion. But that’s an example of him just letting go. It’s funny, because over the years as he became more comfortable with himself, I did too; so we grew together in that sense.

CNU has mentioned mutliple times that being a singer, being able to perform on stage, was a dream of his. His mother being a singer (as far as we know, actually compared to the rest of the members I feel like we know very little about his family), and even being in a band with his friends in high school, it was clear this was a passion of his. He didn't let prior failed auditions stop him, as he continued to perform on stage. And by a stroke of luck, a WM rep fell in love with the aura and smile that CNU gave off, and smartly recruited him. (Thank goodness! lol) He started with small steps, focusing on being the ‘best dancer’ of the group, kind of being the jack of all trades. Not as good as Sandeul in singing, not as good as Baro in rapping, but adequate enough to fill either role when needed. He started helping writing lyrics, like working with Baro on their early title track ‘Beautiful Target’, before eventually composing his own hella smooth jams (with some questionable lyrics 😏). He has improved so much, but the great thing is that he wants to continue to improve. He was one of the first in the group to get an acting job, but was smart and knew at the time that it probably wasn’t the right move for him— he wasn’t ready, or skilled enough. But now, he’s out starring in musicals. It was confirmed last Fall (fall of 2015) that he was suffering with a knee injury, but was postponing any treatment because he wanted to stick through their promotions, to finish on stage with his members and fans. However, he has suffered with knee problems for quite some time (It might be a good idea to warn people about the video I’m about to link —> x <— it may make some uncomfortable to watch if you don’t like seeing people in discomfort). But the point is, he persevered through it all; through the chronic pain, through the tryouts and auditions, through the years as rookies, until being able to stand on stage, with his members or on his own, singing and dancing to songs he composed and wrote. I really admire this kind of tenacity in him.

This last paragraph (haha yes, we’re almost done!!) is going to be more of a list almost, random things that I’m going to type as they come to me, that I think adds to his character, and why I love him. I previously called him an introspective bear, and I think that first word is a really good descriptor of him. (well both of them are really, he's always been the bear!) Going through and listing the synonyms for that word, they all fall into place to describe him: introvert, self-analyzing, thoughtful, meditative, all words that fit him. He’s a nurturer: he takes care of the members, making sure to do something as simple as checking to make sure all the lights were turned off and being the last one to do a quick check that no one forgot anything when they still lived together. He gets comfort from physical contact with the members, and gets sad when he wakes up to find they left to go eat without him. He was so protective of baby Eunsol and Hyunwoo on Hello Baby, demonstrating his patience and care.

It was also on another reality show, Sesame Player (which IMO is still the top reality they’ve had) that the infamous (or at least in the Bana fandom) cupcake incident occurred. It’s mostly a funny moment, but basically cnu bakes a half plain, half chocolate cupcake representing the unity of North and South Korea. Like I said, it’s a little silly, but when you think about it, what 21 year old actually thinks of something that deep when making cupcakes? Our introspective bear, of course! It’s these little glimpses to me that are most prominent; but rarely are they specifically about him. I had mentioned earlier that we know very little about CNU’s family; and in one of the most raw, personal stories that we ever heard from him, he opened up and talked about his father’s alcoholism, and the effects it had on him and his sister growing up. All in all, he was still fairy tight-lipped about this, so we don’t know what happened for sure except for what he’s actually told us. But, I just get the feeling that CNU didn’t have all of the… ‘resources’ growing up (I’m sorry I can’t think of the right word there 😣 hopefully what I’m saying makes sense) compared to say, Jinyoung for example. And the fact that he grew into such a warm, thoughtful and caring young man, makes me wonder if he’s trying to make up for what he *maybe* lacked; but it’s also so telling of the wonderful person he is through and through. On the other hand though, he obviously loves his mother very much, as he always mentions his ideal type would be someone caring like his mother. And again, maybe this want for a more motherly, caring gf tells us something as well. Either way, I think CNU is in a great place now, surrounded by his friends and the people he cares most about. He’s doing what he loves, and he knows he has the fans love and support which in the end, is what he thrives on, what keeps him going. I’m very proud of him.

As I conclude this… “gospel of CNU” lol, there’s just a few more remarks I want to make. First, I want to apologize, because although I would normally consider myself a fairly decent writer, this was a lot more difficult that I expected. I feel like I’m a little all over the place; and although it’s easy in my mind to think of why I love CNU, it’s much more complex to actually choose the right words. Second, I’m sorry how long it took! Once I started writing it though, I just couldn’t stop adding more. In a way, I’m very happy I wrote all of this though… being a fan of the boys, with CNU as my bias, for so long, I felt like it was necessary and deserving to write something like this for him. I may rely too much on my opinions at times, or an almost ‘meta’ analysis, but I hope my points come across well. My hope is that some random person will read this, and maybe turn them into a fan of CNU, and B1A4. All five boys are so deserving of all the happiness and good fortune they can get; I love them all.

And lastly, I just want to say thanks to anyone who actually took the time to read this to the end. I, (and I’m sure CNU!) appreciate it~!!

17 on Tumblr (Jun)

hohoho here is the requested Jun on Tumblr! can you believe I actually got around to continuing this series lmaO

*cracks knuckles* *rubs hands*

let’s get started hohoho

okay so we all know Jun reads novels online and what not right

and seventeen has shamelessly, on a few occasions, admitted to searching themselves up online

so one day, Jun, being, well, JUN, searches up a fanfic about himself and he’s casually scrolling through naver when a title catches his eye

and it’s a posted on tumblr fic

at first he’s all like “????????” and innocently wonders what tumblr is, but then he asks vernon who then widens his eyes because yknow tumblr is mainly known for porn

he decides to venture into the unknown anyway

he starts off by reading the fic that got him there in the first place, and wow is he hooked

he kinda forgets that he’s the main character because it feels so surreal and different but at the same time similar to his own personality

but damn! he’s enjoying this fanfic way more than he should be

(don’t imagine an emo wen junhui staring at his phone intently at 3am about to internally explode because fic-him and the oc are giving each other the cold shoulder)

(and don’t imagine him stifling his laughs with a pillow to avoid waking up the other members)

and let’s face it, he probably didn’t realise tumblr existed as a mobile app until he finished reading the entire fic

when he realises it is a mobile app he’s so excited and literally falls over himself downloading it

he searches up the fanfic that he read by the title, and finds the blog that posted it

and he’s awestruck

the blog is so pretty and the theme is so warm and the description is so nice and!!!!!!!

and you don’t just post 17 fanfics, you also post a great deal of other writings and poems and short stories, but your svt stuff always seemed like the only things that got reblogs so you stopped writing your poems and stuff for a while and focused more on the fics

and wen junhui is so enamored he finds himself scrolling through your entire blog and looking through all your pre-svt stuff and he’s like

shit not only are they a seventeen fan, they’re also generally just a really good author and poet who puts out really meaningful things!

and you have this one poem written in chinese for a module you took a long time ago and it’s so beautiful

that jun took a quote from that poem and used it as his kkt status

anyways

he notices you don’t write such stuff anymore and he gets kinda sad

so he sends you an anon ask that goes “Hello I’m a new follower but I realised that you stopped posting your original poems and short stories after a while, is it okay if you let me know why?”

and you receive the ask and !!! you didn’t actually think anyone would notice that you stopped putting out those poems and stories because they never got many notes anyways

you’re kinda touched and a small grin forms on your face because someone actually noticed?

and you reply with

“nah it’s nothing I just thought people would rather read my 17 fics instead. but thank you so much for sending this ask in”

jun reads it an d lmao guess what he says

“Oh if that’s the reason then just send those poems to me! I’d be more than happy to be your only audience ;-)”

FROM 0 TO 100 REAL QUICK WEN JUNHUI

and you’re at this point giggling and smiling to yourself because THIS ANON IS SO GREASY AND THEY’RE ONLY ON ANON but they’re also really cute so you reply with

“sure but first reveal your username ;-)”

so he messages you with a “wassup i’m the ;-) anon”

and from then on blooms a beautiful beautiful mutual friendship thing

like it’s super cute because the both of you tag each other in 17 shit and other funny stuff and while jun always knows the 17 stuff beforehand (because, he’s well, part of seventeen), he always finds himself chuckling at the stuff you tag him in

not to forget you keep by your agreement and send him a bunch of your poems and stuff, and he’s always so happy and ! to read them

plus he’s always really excited to check the message you leave him, especially if svt had a really grueling schedule and he was dead tired and exhausted

and he finds himself being more drawn to your personality as y’all talked more and more??

you’re also under the impression that his name is wendy because when you first asked for his name he typed wen and then regretted it immediately so he did a Save and now he’s wendy

ok fast forward a few months

jun just had a comeback and he’s dead tired

you still don’t know he’s The Wen Junhui

(also he has a habit of referring to himself as The Handsome One)

(and Hot Boy 101)

(and Sizzling Shenzhen Babe)

the list goes on

but one day you message him and you’re kinda curious about how he looks like so you’re all like

“hey Muscle Man shouldn’t you at least show me your face once and let me see for myself how hot you actually are?”

“sorry y/n i’m really tired now, another time maybe?”

but you don’t think he’s being serious so you say “lmao then what bout a skype call? you can just sleep and i’ll just stare at your face, we both win”

when jun reads your message he gets upset and disappointed because! he’d just gone through a day of shit from everyone

he had to deal with recording for an hour because woozi wasn’t pleased with his one line

and he had to suffer through hoshi’s relentless nagging and tiring choreography

and he thought maybe opening up tumblr would make him happier but instead he came on to see you asking for a pic and not even taking no for an answer???

so he’s just like

you know what fuck it i’m just going to stop replying them

anyway it’s not like they can know i’m wen junhui

so boom

jun ignores you for a good whole week

but then !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

in that week you actually manage to get tickets for seventeen’s fansign !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

you’re so pumped and hyped because YOU FINALLY GET TO MEET JUN AND !!!

he’s the literal love of your life how can you not get really excited

except, you still feel kinda shit because wendy (jun) hasn’t replied you for ages

okay maybe it’s just a week but still

so before you go for the fansign you drop wendy (jun) a message telling him that you finally get to meet your idols and that you’re sad he can’t be with you :’)

and then right before he gets onto the fansign stage, jun reads the message

he panics for a while but manages to stay calm because lmao its not like they know i’m their online friend psh it’s all aight

but when he gets up there he sees a person sitting in a corner alone, with no fancy dslr but a small iphone camera, eagerly waiting for him to come out and

he knows that’s you

you look so happy yet slightly :( and he can’t help but feel slightly guilty

so when it comes to your turn with jun,

you tell him how much you adore and love him (at this, jun blushes and eye smiles) but then you ask him for advice on how to apologise to a friend

and he goes from :-D to :-( real quick

because although that confirmed his suspicions about you being his amazing author memey mutual, he felt really really bad about making you feel shitty

so he’s like “wait let me show you a magic trick”

“take out your phone”

“you wanna apologise through text right?”

at this you nod your head fervently

jun takes out his phone too

and he’s like “okay go to your chat, and on 1,2,3...”

a new message bubble pops up and

“why use facetime when the real deal’s in front of you?”

he shows you his phone screen with the exact same chat log as yours

and you’re just like !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

he smirks and puts a finger to his lips

when the fansign ends, you’re so certain that it’s all a dream that you check your phone again

at this point another message pops up

it’s an selfie of jun at the fansign location with his finger poking a far off image of you in the background

“how’s this for a picture? get home safely ah my dear carat! ;-)”

and that’s when you realise your mutual’s name isn’t wendy, but wen jun hui

soulmate au in which if you have a song stuck in your head, it means your soulmate is singing that song out loud

okay so you started to have these symptoms ever since you were like 15

at first, your friends were thinking that maybe you didn’t have a soulmate since you didn’t have anything different than you should have, like a tattoo or a clock on your wrist or anything that could represent you having a soulmate

but then one day during your first year of high school, there are times you keep getting songs that you don’t recognize in your head

whether it was korean, english, chinese, you name it

so during the time when you were taking your biology notes, you were humming this one english song and your foreign friend got surprised

she speaks english, so you humming to elliott yamin was really something suspicious

you explained to her that you don’t know who yamin is, nor you know the song, and she became so conFUSED

the next day, you thought everything went back to normal, although you sung this korean song that was stuck in your head that lasted for about a week

and this happened for a while

i mean like,,,a vERY LONG TIME

you keep getting random songs stuck in your head and it was driving you crazy

even your american-korean friend had to explain what the songs were called if she knew

okay so

skip into about 5 years later, and you were now in college with an acting major, and you were getting used to the random music stuck into your head

you had to keep searching up the lyrics of the songs you don’t recognize, and some of them either don’t exist or wouldn’t just pop up

some did exist, like this one time this song by javier was stuck in your head for like a few days

and a couple of songs were actually really interesting you, and your friends would ask you how tf did you find all of these songs

now the ones that didn’t exist confused you to the mAx

you keep having this beautiful song stuck in your head, the lyrics were so touching and the rhythm was very smooth.

you keep thinking that your soulmate is a composer, which is really interesting

but you don’t know any composers you recognize, so you were still disappointed in yourself

your american friend is now into k-pop, which she explained that there are some groups that actually compose songs such as bts’s rm & suga and seventeen’s woozi

but you doubt that your soulmate would be an idol

like there’s no way in hELL that a korean idol,,would be,,your soulmate,,

one day, you went over to her house, and you explained that on your way, you were listening to monsta x’s ‘beautiful’ in your head, and of course, she was all crazy for this group

she also told you that got7 is gonna be on v-live in a few minutes, so y’all decided to blast up monsta x before it started

now the both of you were singing it wholeheartedly, to where your friend’s mom told y’all to calm down

after the song ended, your friend received a notification that they’re live now, and she was so eXCITED FOR THIS

she opened the app, and you two were enjoying the members’ presence

only bambam, jackson, and youngjae were displayed on the screen but then later on, the whole group came

you have not known this group, so she had to explain who is who and how got7 is so diverse

“so he’s bambam, he’s thai, jackson is chinese and mark is american”

a fan asked a question about any song recommendations, and youngjae replied,

“oh, there’s this song stuck in my head, i recommend you ‘beautiful’ by monsta x. it’s been on my mind for just today!”

and you and your friend were SHOOK

but you keep pointing out that it’s just a coincidence. there was no way that an idol would be your soulmate, you were freaking tf OUT

youngjae also announced that he JUST made a song he composed called “trauma” today, and immediately you looked him up on soundcloud

he goes by ARS, which completely confused you for a little while

you started to listen to it, and for some reason you already know the lyrics to the song ssjjdjdf

your friend was getting so emotional and excited because your soulmate?? is possibly youngjae??

but you wanted to make sure,,,just in case,,you know,, if that’s true,,

“you know there was this one song i had in my head,,but idk if it’s not been released yet,,,”

“they’re having a comeback soon, spoil me.”

so you decided to remember the lyrics of the song (just right), and your friend,,wow she was acting crazy today

so the following week, you and your friend were waiting for that comeback at her house

it was to the point where you had to spend the night

you JUST GOTTA KNOW IF ITS TRUE

the release time hits, and your friend is over here who’s keeps refreshing jyp entertainment’s youtube page

and you’re like ‘omg omg what if this song on my head IS this song’ while the music video popped up

so your friend explains to you who mark and jackson are

and when youngjae appeared, you legit came in singing his part like 1.5 seconds later

she looked at you with a bright expression and was all like “what the FUCK”

y’all are not even focusing on the music video anymore because you both are s c r e a m i n g your asses off

psst psst while you were asleep, your friend decided to direct message him on his instagram whether he will read it or not

she probably messaged something like “hey look, my friend for some reason keeps remembering your parts of the songs she does not recognize; just last week she was singing monsta x and you told ahgases that you had that song stuck in your head”

ofc in a polite way lol

and legit like 2 days later, she received a notification on her instagram

and guess who it’s from

you’re right

he responded “..did they sing troye sivan yesterday bc jackson told me about his music. it was stuck in my head this whole day.”

she had to text you and you replied with “lmao yeah, how did you know?” and she had never felt so happy in her entire life

luckily, college was over for the day, and she dashed to you as soon as your classes were over

she handed you the phone and told you to read it

you were a blushing mess, and you just couldn’t believe that a gorgeous idol is your soulmate

after that, you kept looking at photoshoots of him

or videos about him, and you actually think that he’s really adorable

meanwhile your friend is @ her room, unbelievably talking to youngjae

lmao she had set you up to meet him

she told you that she wanted you to help her plan a birthday party for her 7-year old brother

of course you, obliged and you started to get dressed and walk your way to a café since she was already there to grab a hot chocolate in the morning

she even told you to dress and look nicely, which you really didn’t know why, but you did anyways lmao

on your way, you were singing to got7′s the confession song, since you were getting into the group

when you arrived there, you didn’t see her anywhere. the place isn’t that crowded

you see this guy walking up to you with this mask on

and when he pulled it down, he reveals his face

being youngjae

“were you singing the confession song on the way here?”

“oh MY GOD” you immediately blush and fan yourself as you’re still figuring out wtf is happening here

“i wAS”

youngjae is over there just lightly chuckling as he didn’t want the other people hearing him

“i’ve heard that you’re my soulmate. it’s finally nice to meet you, i’m choi youngjae!”

“nice to meet you too! my name is y/n l/n!”

you both grabbed a seat, and you both asked for your orders

you felt so nervous, and you don’t know what to do

you both talked like you’ve known each other for the longest time due to y’all’s taste of music, and it really made you two all happy and warm inside

he explained that he does compose, and updates them into his soundcloud, as well as your friend texting him the night of their comeback

he even talked about how your friend was so shook about you knowing his part in just right, even though it has released just last week

you both even talked about the music you two have been listening to for the past 5 years, and it was that time when youngjae was ranting about how much he loved listening to your music, and it felt like it inspired him to write more songs

he made you feel have butterflies in your stomach and you were such a cute mess™

an hour later, your acting instructor asked you and your class to be there around 1pm, and of course it was almost time to go

you were extremely disappointed that you had to go, but youngjae insisted driving you there to your college

you immediately thank him as you offered him to pay.

little did you know that he already paid lmao he was sneaky

but anyways

as he dropped you off, you kissed him in the cheek before you got off the car

and wow his face was pRICELESS

he was getting shy what a cute man

you apologized,,,because your mother used to take you to school and,,it just happened

he was also happy that it happened tho

he waved you a goodbye, and drove off as you placed your hands on your pockets

you felt something in one of your hoodie pockets, and you started to take it out as you were kind of freaking out

and it was a slip of paper, with a number written there

it was youngjae’s number, and you smiled widely

you saved the number into your contacts and you walked in school as your cheeks were hurting from smiling

you had a really good time with him, and you hope something like that happens again

he was such a polite and kind person

and you’re so happy that he is your soulmate
