I agree with you about Capcom bringing Nash back for SF6! I even made a post in my Threads account about him if Bison comes back, then there is a chance he might return! Please Capcom! Bring my boy back in the series! You been neglecting him for far too long!

I could go on about how I think they could bring Nash back in SF6 for AGES. The sheer fact that F.A.N.G. lived and is in SF6 (Fang Fei/Foo, A.K.I.'s master) makes me think that Nash probably survived his bout with Bison in some degree and could come back but there's so many ways they can go about it they could make it really insane if they wanted to.

They could have the Secret Society/Illuminati revive him again to use as an agent to gain ground against Shadaloo and potentially leverage Gill/the Society into higher threat standing (villain).

They could tie Darkstalkers semi-into Street Fighter and say that the Nash we would see is him after escaping the Makai and give him some more wacky magic-like powers (and give Darkstalkers fans like myself some more crumbs to survive on for a while lol).

They could lean into the Nash/Shadow setup from Marvel vs. Capcom and say that Shadaloo had/has him and the Nash we get to see is totally brainwashed into servitude by Bison or has escaped his brainwashing but like Cammy has no memories of his past. Or hell, just bring 'Shadow' back and it's just Nash but under a different name with different goals in mind!

But those are just my ideas after all.

Capcom needs to give us Nash STAT. I need to see my boy again!

The more that time goes by, the more I'm certain that if The Hunger Games ever gets remade, it MUST be animation.

There are a lot of practical reasons for an animated series. The characters can be animated to match book descriptions, flashbacks will be easier (especially 11 year-old Katniss and Peeta), and it will make it distinct from the movie series.

But also, for me, a big part of it is that animation can retain important themes of the books while minimizing the negative impact of those involved in the production (which is also a theme of the series).

It's no secret that Hollywood is brutal, especially for children and young actors. Alyson Stoner has put out her Dear Hollywood series on what it is like growing up as a child performer. In her most recent video, she shares that she auditioned for Katniss and in preparation, threw herself into her eating disorder to try and fit the description of Katniss. From her story, it seems she took this on herself, not that she was asked to do this. And obviously, they picked someone who is the opposite of Katniss's physical description in the book in just about every way.

I'm very, very glad that (as far as I know) no one in the production of THG pressured Jen to lose weight to play Katniss (fans and media, unfortunately, were a different story). A performer's health is always more important than a look. However, Katniss and nearly every other character has spent their lives hungry and malnourished. And that is a huge part of the themes of the story! Alyson also voiced she was glad an actress "with meat on her bones" was cast as Katniss, and at first I kinda disagreed, due to how it did affect the themes that Jen was always so healthy-looking (not just weight, but everything--hair, skin, hygiene, injuries). Then I wondered if someone starving-thin had been cast as Katniss, how that would have impacted young people watching the movies. If the glorification would have still come through and perpetuated the idea that thinness is the goal no matter how it is obtained, rather than been a critique of the Capitol wasting food while children starve in the Districts. The movies were never able to commit to making Jen look bad in any way, shape, or form even in parts of the book where Katniss is honestly grotesque. So if that had been a skinny actress, would her appearance have been lauded as admirable and been included in the endless media with only skinny female leads?

The thing is, there is some great fanart of Katniss in her less-than-attractive appearance--she's skinny and starving and injured and has a hardened, unfriendly stare to her. Her appearance is a reflection of her oppression, and it is in no way glamorized. This is where I think animation/art is able to exaggerate this and tailor it right without damaging the actor behind the character physically or mentally. Plus, looks change for Katniss and other characters frequently and these changes are important for the themes/plot as well. Weight loss and gain, muscle loss and gain, losing limbs, injuries, the physical effects of major depression and PTSD. Some of this could be accomplished with makeup/CGI and good acting, however, the physicality of the body would be difficult to do with an actor's actual body. Jen and Josh especially were critically viewed for their appearances during the heyday of the franchise. In Alyson's series, she describes that so much of the young actor's damaged self-perception comes from how they look and fitting a part, which throws young performers into eating disorders, plastic surgery, and mental health crises. I have to wonder, for a book that is a great metaphor for child performers, would we want to subject more young actors into this kind of pressure?

I'm not huge into animation fan culture, so maybe there is rampant abuse of voice actors, but it seems to me like voice actors don't have the same issues as live action actors. Certainly the VAs' appearances wouldn't matter--Katniss could be tall and fat, Peeta could be lanky, Gale could be short. Their voices would matter first. Hiring people of color for the appropriate roles would be the only possible "appearance" under consideration. Additionally, in comparison to the frenzy of invasion of privacy that the movie cast had to go through, VAs would likely be bothered less, unless perhaps they were famous for live action roles.

As someone who has a couple animator friends, I will acknowledge that animators have a pretty terrible work culture in that they are overworked and underpaid, so it's not as if no one working on an animated THG would suffer in its creation. But it seems like overall, damage to those in the process of its creation and consumption would be lessened and preserve important themes to the story as well.

/ so I've been thinking about how to handle Transgressor Yuri in terms of his canon, and like... I really can't do much with it. I'm probably just going to toss what existed as far as my muse goes because like... after the tree was destroyed we:

A: had no confirmation it was Yuri who did it or if he was just there at the time (i.e. could have been trying to stop someone from doing it)

B: had no confirmation on why he did it if he did (and how long it'd be before we even saw him again or if he or Lloyd's group would have run into Kanata's group) and why he would be working with Kasque unless he knew something Milla somehow didn't in this context (i.e. Milla having the wrong idea about the trees and what they're there for/what they do). that or he was doing it because he was in a situation of being forced to do it for some reason (bc basically I can't see him just being on Kasque's side because he agrees with her, and without further context I'm stuck)

I guess it really depends what the manga does as far as the trees go at this point, because the manga has skipped so much content and is literally making chapters 5-7+9 happen simultaneously and it's honestly a mess. they've skipped crossover related stuff too (without putting in replacements), which the trees were relative both to Kasque and crossover content, hence why I don't know what they'll end up doing with them and if I should wait for them to get there and cover that stuff.

they've already added in the whole "explosion we're gonna blame on you guys" thing despite Sonia not even existing in the manga as of yet if she will be, so I really have no idea what's being kept and what's not (because at this point they've already tossed a slew of non crossover content out the window - if I sound bitter it's because I am LOL).

that said if they do get to the trees and keep them and have a replacement for Yuri (which I'm doubting they will at this point), I'll probably be able to figure out what to do with him better. if they ignore that aspect since it's partially tied to Milla (and Lloyd's side story and evidently Lloyd's group's main story), I'm probably just gonna yeet it for my muse because there's literally nothing I can do with the information we had before the game shut down. most unfortunately too, that was the legit last fucking thing that happened before the story was canceled.

I think it's cool that Sega is now letting the comic characters be referenced in their games and other media, even having them be playable characters in the app games, I know it sucks that they couldn't do the same with archie characters especially since the Archie characters have been around longer but that's because Sega owns the IDW characters while Archie owned the Archie characters. (The only exception is Sticks but Sega actually brought her ownership)

i thought that sega does own some of the archie characters (or at the very least could use them if they wanted to) and are just intentionally choosing to place them off limits forever for some reason. like i could have sworn i heard they own the main freedom fighters at the very least but idk im no expert on that. also im a bit confused on sticks being labelled as an archie character yeah she was in some stuff made by archie but she was created for sonic boom and isnt just in the tv show shes in the games too. therefore shes a game character even if shes mostly only appeared in an alternate universe that doesnt get new content anymore

Red Dead Redemption 2 was so real for creating the most in-depth, realistic clothing system I've ever seen in any game, and exclusively using it on burly, unhygienic men.

You choose every layer, every accessory, with dozens to hundreds of each to choose from. You can go in and fine-tune minute details like whether or not to roll up the shirt sleeves, or button the collar, or whether to wear your pants under your boots. These clothes get dirty in real time depending on what you do in the game. Mud, dust and blood linger unless washed off. Every garment has a warmth rating based on its material, and the game calculates what temperatures an outfit is suitable for based on the combined total. Dressing too cold or warm for the weather causes health debuffs.

You can choose which way he parts his hair, and whether he gels it. If you eat too much he gets bulkier and gains a double chin, and if you eat too little he can go underweight and get all bony and sallow. Both of these states come with stat changes. His hair and beard grow in real game time, and you need to routinely style and shave his facial hair if you want any style other than a full Santa. You need to bathe him regularly or people will start commenting on his BO, and he'll start visibly appearing filthy long before that. He sunburns in the sun, and in the heat he becomes slick and glossy with sweat.

This shit is IN DEPTH. It blows the customization systems of actual fashion-centric games like tf2, Monster Hunter and Splatoon out of the water in every regard. They honestly look basic in comparison. It's a paradigm shift for sure once you experience RDR2's level of customization. Everything else starts to feel smaller.

The player character all this customization is applied to, and I simply cannot stress this enough, is a 36 year old, 6'3" smoker weighing well over 200 pounds, with facial hair thicker than a sheepdogs, forearms like gnarled tree trunks and a dark, dense forest of body hair covering every reasonable surface. His skin is pocked and marred with scars from a rugged, nomadic lifestyle, and his teeth are the colour of cornbread. He has a thick southern accent, is a known mean drunk and knows how to skin pretty much any North American animal. He has never worn deodorant, flossed or moisturized. He eats canned beans, fruit and the like by simply pouring them into his mouth and gulping, often while walking or riding a horse at full gallop.

I can think of NO better use case for such customization. Not some fresh-faced little twink, not some busty anime babe. Just a gross, hairy, unwashed homeless dude with crippling self esteem issues and a chest broader than a barrel laid lengthwise. A non fashion-centric game, certainly a non-fashion centric character, but for some reason the best clothing and customization system ever concieved, bar none. What the fuck.
