João Selva - Passarinho - Brazillian music with European production (by Patchworks)
Brazilian singer and songwriter releases a new album of exuberant and vintage tropical pop music. Somewhere, we get back to the carioca João Selva where we left him: sailing on the mythical Black Atlantic to create exhilarating music whose vibrations invite us to Rio, the Brazilian Northeast, the Caribbean, Cape Verde or even Angola. His latest album, “Navegar” (2021), acclaimed by critics, is an invigorating dance and dream machine that updates the tropicalist revolution of the 70s by offering a turbulent mix of samba, soul, jazz and funk. Continuing to spread wings with “Passarinho” (2023), this time it is flying like a bird that the singer from Ipanema takes us into his musical universe, always as sunny as it is abundant. The 10 tracks of this new album span a generous palette of musical influences: from Angolan semba to Cape Verdean funaná, via Caribbean zouk or Congolese rumba – João Selva's music channels the musical pulse of the Black Atlantic. In the most (im)pure Brazilian tradition, he also digests the contribution of North American music and freely incorporates elements from elsewhere into the irresistible rhythms of Brazil. Prolonging a fruitful collaboration with french producer Bruno Patchworks, this new LP is full of sound nuggets and offers a wide range of emotions and sensations.
All Tracks Written And Composed By Jonathan Da Silva & Bruno Hovart João Selva: lead vocals, viola, guitar and percussion Bruno Patchworks: guitar, bass, percussion, keyboards and accordion FEATURING: Carina Salvado: backing vocals Boris Pokora: saxophone, trombone, flute and bugle Paul Charnay: Fender Rhodes

Best Underdog Regional Bird Pokemon Emergency Round 🗺️🪶
Round 5 - Final Match
Our Contestants:
This poll is part of an event that allows the early eliminees from the main tournament have more time in the spotlight!
I have no idea how this happened, but I found this discrepancy and don't want to just ignore it? The original final match should've been the second to last.
#uptunderdogtournament#pokemon#polls#best underdog regional bird#corvisquire#pidove#gen 8#my early-tournament record-keeping has strange incomplete bits that don't align with my workflow even a few weeks later#i...do not know what to do about that. I'm not even sure how I found the data for the original match given that i should've gotten it from#the neocities website where i keep track of all this. and if i did that then i should've seen this?????#i've never maintained any other tracking methods

so is jannik your favorite player? i was under the impression it was matteo. sorry just curious 😅
hi friend! oh yeah that's a totally fair assumption fjfvjv yeah no it's jannik but matteo is a close second! (for wta it's aryna with ons and jasmine as close seconds. but jannik is like my #1 favorite player in general)
#maybe this is bc i have said more than once before that i'd root/want for matteo to win in a final against jan#and i do stand by that! like jannik is jannik to me i always want him to win BUT bc of how matteo's career went compared to jannik's (+ the#fact matteo is older) i'd take him winning a tournament over jannik pretty much any time#like. in a match that's early rounds i'm... a little more conflicted mostly bc as much as i love and have faith i matteo atm jannik is#just objectively more likely to go far in any tournament. so matteo beating him and then not winning the whole thing would kind of suck#bc i'd think “jannik could've won it all”. you know what i mean?#but like i still hold genuine hope in me that matteo could do it. always. so i WOULD be happy if he beat jannik#(or like. i'd be happy he won. not happy he beat jannik :/)#it's just if he did and then lost to someone else i'd want to cry for a week LMAO 😭#but anyway in a FINAL? no contest i would rather matteo wins it. at the moment at least#maybe that could change in the next years idk if like matteo gets really good again and wins like at least one slam lmao i'd be okay#with jannik beating him in a final again. OR if jannik won a shitton of slams and went for like a record???? but#let's not get ahead of ourselves here AND LET'S NOT JINX ANYTHING.#i'm talking too much but just to wrap it up: back in 2021 for example i'd have chosen jannik to win over matteo. definitely#bc their careers were on not exactly opposite trajectories as they are now but in a sense their 'roles' were switched#matteo was italy's number one and it was clear he was meant to win big things- so i thought well he's going to win a slam soon. i'd have#rooted for jannik to win as a sort of underdog in that scenario! now with matteo's career having taken a different direction due to injurie#he is not the favorite to win big tournaments anymore while jan most definitely is! so. matteo winning a trophy would mean more basically#that was way too long sorry gifbkhbm#yeah jan's my number one <3 he's the only one who's made me feel the same way roger did when i was younger and watching tennis :')#asks#anon

I'm watching through the 2007 season and have reached China, where the commentators have implied that Valentino said something about needing to bring a gun to stop Casey?? Am i misinterpreting? Was this received...well?
yeah he did!! shanghai quote's on the left, other time he joked about needing a gun to stop casey also included on the right (from laguna 2008, of course):
(what makes the laguna thing particularly funny is that I've found multiple mentions of the gun comment, so I reckon he did say it... but the actual clip of valentino's post-qualifying press conference (with casey in the room, of course) - as well as a different set of post-qualifying remarks he made - only talk about the thirty second headstart. not the gun. which means that this absolute bastard, this fucker, this little rat, said at least three times on saturday afternoon of the laguna 2008 weekend that he'd need to jump the start by half a minute to beat casey. laying it on a little thick, don't you think)
anyway. I'm still keeping a look out for any other times valentino said something like this but... it's another cute habit! like calling casey a god/devil/demon or saying his talent is unbeatable or whatnot, it's another way valentino hypes up just how good casey was. so melodramatic, "rarely guilty of making an understatement" as the guardian would put it. obviously at shanghai 2007, valentino was talking more about the ducati top speed (shanghai was a very straight-dominated circuit) than about how impossibly good casey was, but still. it's an extreme form of expectation management, it's funny, and it's another little detail that speaks to the vibe of that rivalry. vale is willing to do whatever it takes to beat casey, and casey is making him push it that far. makes valentino go just short of the literal gun. as for the reaction, well, people in the forums thought it was funny, though they were a bit worried it meant another runaway race victory for casey. that was probably the general reaction... and this was still early enough in the season that I reckon even casey probably just about managed to take it as a compliment. like I said, cute
#valentino chronic underdog syndrome despite winning a bajillion world titles. very funny dynamic#i wonder how close casey did get to attempting to strangle vale on the bike at times#the only two aliens with a track record of punching kicking elbowing other riders on track mind u. feral little things#i want to see them scratch each other's eyes out so bad#//#brr brr#batsplat responds#heretic tag#undercrowns

On the topics of Rafa being so…shaped, it’s hilarious how buff he is compared to like, all the other tennis players except for the new Spanish Tennis Star Carlos Alcaraz, who is also a unit. Most tennis stars are lean and muscled but those 2’s legs are like tree trunks my good
Serena Williams likes to tweet about how she and Rafa are “booty siblings” because they are stacked compared to everyone else. If you google that phrase and Serena she’s been tweeting that for like 10 years lol
fkdsjfksjfk She's Right!! Say that shit queen 🗣️🗣️🗣️
#and omg the cinematic parallels between this latest wimbledon final and the 2008 one!#like underdog new(ish)comer alcaraz up against djokovic trying to break the record for most wimbledons in a row#and the way djokovic & alcaraz switched advantages like 20 times during the... i wanna say it was the third game??#forgive me i don't know anything about tennis and i'm a late bloomer sports fan but like!!! YEAH!!!! Sports!!!!!#anon#signed sealed delivered#i wish i could watch the 2023 wimbledon final for the first time now knowing everything that i know#feel like i wasn't really appreciating it when i watched it live last week

In the mid-90s my friends and I called every radio station in town AND every dance club with a DJ to ask the DJ if they knew this song, but the only part we knew was this part right here, so we sang this nonsense for them:
youtube
No one could answer us. Finally my friend met some random guys in a cd store who knew the name of the band.
When you hear a new song on the radio and you’re desperately trying to pick a notable phrase so you can google it later
#threerings' stories#also one time mr. rings and I were driving in the mountains on Maui#and the radio station was fuzzing in and out#and we heard gogol bordello for the first time#and had to record a video of the song so we could try to figure out what it was#the song was 'underdog world strike'#Youtube

The Independent ranks ''evermore'' as one of the most underrated albums:
“No, she’s not one of the “underdogs” mentioned earlier, but Taylor Swift does have an underrated album in the shape of Evermore, her companion record to 2020’s superb surprise album, Folklore. It’s also, arguably, the album where she does her biggest creative flex, blurring the lines between reality and fiction. She’s fantastic on the banjo-strumming caper “No Body No Crime” then, on “Ivy”, she casts spells with off-kilter rhythms and evocative lyrics.”
