I always thought that the ‘Under my thumb’ phrase was some sort of fandom inside-joke when it came to Gideon.

At first I didn’t know what ‘under my thumb’ meant and I never heard him say it in the movie or anime, so I thought it was a comic thing.

After watching it in english with subtitles on I realized that it was the song that was playing from Gideon’s car in the movie when he first introduces himself ‘formally’ and now that I read the lyrics of the song I’m… shook, to say the least, but unfortunately not surprised.

If you wanted to have an argument about which was the better musical year, this fact alone would have me leaning towards 1966 over 1967

The Rolling Stones - Aftermath (1966)

Fifty-eight years ago today, on July 2, 1966, Aftermath, the fourth British and sixth American studio album by The Rolling Stones was released. Featuring the songs “Paint it Black” (on the US version), ���Mother’s Little Helper,” “Under My Thumb,” and “Lady Jane,” the album represented something of a sea change for the band. The first of the band’s albums on which every song was credited to Jagger and Richards, the themes of the album were notably darker and more varied, perhaps embracing the perceived competition with the Beatles, who had released Rubber Soul six months earlier. Considered one of the most important of the Stones’ early albums, it has proved to be a hugely influential album in the development of rock, its darker more socially driven themes presaging punk and glam and helping to usher in the age of the musician as songwriter.
