Saijaku Muhai no Bahamut 8
Tumblr media
Author: Senri Akatsuki
Illustrator: Ayumu Kasuga
Label: GA Bunko
Release Date: 14 January 2016
My Score: 3/5
It’s time for the Culture Festival in this volume as Seles becomes conscious of her feelings towards Lux after hearing about Krulcifer’s confession last volume. Also, she finds herself in a conflict with Rose, a member of the Seven Holy Dragon Knights. Meanwhile, it’s revealed that the world is approaching an catastrophe and will soon be destroyed if nothing is done to stop it.
This is very much a typical Bahamut volume in that the best thing about it was how exciting the fight scenes were. Seles was also charming and I think fans of her will be happy with this volume. I was particularly fond of that one moment in the epilogue. The reasons why I won’t rate this higher than a 3 is partially because the villains were bad. This is a recurring problem with the series where the villains tend to be just repulsive without any memorable or interesting qualities to them. Also, the ecchi scenes this time around were ridiculous to the point of taking away from the story. Like, there’s a part where Lux and Seles are being held captive and it goes ecchi fast when they try to escape so there’s absolutely no tension in the scene. There were a couple of other times where I really noticed that male gaze more than I usually would when Lux would take notice of the girls’ bodies in a way that felt gross. I’m pretty desensitized to this sort of thing so I’m not sure why it bothered me here. Plus, and this is a nitpick, there’s a scene where the girls + Lux get dressed up for a popularity contest and we’re given descriptions of what they all wear but for some reason we only get an illustration of Lux in a maid outfit. I’m sure that Kasuga was busy and probably wasn’t paid enough but I just feel like I was robbed of seeing Krulcifer cross-dressing.
Next time should be Phi’s turn so I’ll be reading it soon.

Saijaku Muhai no Bahamut 10
Tumblr media
Author: Senri Akatsuki
Illustrator: Ayumu Kasuga
Label: GA Bunko
Release Date: 14 July 2016
My Score: 4/5
In this volume, Lux and Phi go undercover as newlyweds on their honeymoon in order to investigate the identity of a traitor. There, Lux runs into an old friend of Rose’s who refuses to believe the rumours of her misdeeds and desires to meet Karenthia, her sister and Rose’s aide.
I can now confirm that is definitely not necessary to read volume 9 because everything that is notable there is repeated here. Hell, there’s a scene in the first chapter that reads like a copy of a scene from Phi’s story in volume 9.
Anyway, this was a really solid entry into the series. The action scenes were fantstic, Phi was great, Yoruka had some great moments, and the climactic battle scene was one of the best battle scenes in the series so far. It also didn’t have many ecchi or comedic harem scenes to distract from the main plot so that’s a plus for me. My main complaint is that the villains weren’t very interesting, but I’m used to that from this series and I’ll admit that I was surprised by a reveal regarding the villain.
I’m at the half-way point in this series, and my original goal was to get to volume 10, with the potential of going further if I liked it enough. Before reading this volume, I wasn’t sure that I would continue it, but I liked this volume so much that I probably will, it just likely won’t be any time soon. I definitely regard this as one of the better battle school harem series out there. It does have a lot of the tropes in that genre that I don’t like but the action scenes are very exciting and the heroines are charming enough that the series manages to stand out regardless.
Judging by the colour illustrations, the next volume seems to be Yoruka’s. I’ve warmed up to her a lot in the last few volumes so I look forward to reading that.

Female Sociopaths in Popular Media (Part 54)
Go here for Part 1. It provides an explanation for this list. Also, check out the master list which includes analyses of all the included characters. (Some analyses still may not be completed as of yet.) If this is the first part you’ve seen, reblog one of those two posts. Otherwise, feel free to reblog this one.
My regular ā€œproblematicā€ contribution to International Women’s Day. I know it’s been a hot minute since I’ve been regularly posting profiles, so I’m going to try to get more done. Posting this to let you know that through the rest of Women’s History Month, I’ll try to post more female sociopath profiles as much as I can. Mostly reuploads from my main blog, but I’ll attempt to get some done that still don’t have profiles.
Pictured above:

Sailor Galaxia[1] from the Sailor Moon manga (1991-1997)
Go-Jaaza-Gi (played by Sumire Aria) from Kamen Rider Kuuga (200-2001)
Dakota (played by Zoe Colletti) from Fear the Walking Dead (2015-present[2])
JGSDF Captain Risa Fukami (played by Maju Ozawa) from Kamen Rider Agito Special: A New Transformation and Project G4 (2001)
Captain Angie McHenry[3] (played by Mira Sorvino) from Stuber (2019)
Lucia from Octopath Traveler (2018)
Rhea Wits[3] from Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Case 5 - Turnabout Substitution
Nox[3] from Child of Light (2014)
[1] Thanks to @rickyriddle for recommending this one. [2] Valid as of mid-March 2022. [3] Major spoilers associated with these characters.
If you wanna help me, suggest some characters for me to include on the list by leaving a comment on any of the posts, sending an ask, or messaging me. You’ll be credited for helping me when I include them in the gallery post. If you don’t want to be credited, just ask and I’ll leave your name off the post.
Either that or help fact check my profiles on the master list. I haven’t seen a lot of the things that these characters come from, so I don’t have a lot of firsthand knowledge. If you have seen/played/read any of the works that I have included, look through the profiles and see if there are any inaccuracies I need to edit.

Saijaku Muhai no Bahamut 7
Tumblr media
Author: Senri Akatsuki
Illustrator: Ayumu Kasuga
Label: GA Bunko
Release Date: 14 October 2015
My Score: 4/5
It’s been over a year since I’ve read a volume of this series but I finally got volume 7 and I already have volumes 8-10 so it’s time to get back into this series. This volume starts with all the girls looking for Lux and not being able to find him anywhere and it turns out that he’s gone with Krulcifer to her country. Despite having taken a break for over a year, I found it pretty easy to get back into this story, though there were some terms that I’d forgotten about and there were some characters that I struggled to recognise. The story was interesting, the climx was exciting and having lots of Krulcifer scenes made me very happy. I also liked Yoruka in this volume - I haven’t been too keen on her in the past but I feel like this was the first time I got a real glimpse of her personality and motives and it was all quite interesting.
The reason this isn’t a 5 star read for me is that I’ve never been into the ecchi and harem scenes in this series and this volume is no exception. There was also a side character that was interesting enough but had an annoying personality and it felt like she took the volume’s focus away from Krulcifer too much sometimes but I still really enjoyed this volume.
I’ll read volume 8 soon.
