I know it's going to be a while for me to jump back to the Nexomon tag when the next chapter for my fic drops (and believe me, that's going to take a while), there's been a semi-crazy theory I've been going over since I was thinking of weaseling it into the fic (especially during the NexoLords Frozen Tundra arc) since it's something that doesn't seem to make sense in hindsight.
Namely with the NexoLords' attempt of reviving Omnicron, and even the earlier run-in with the goons holding a bunch of bomb-experts hostage and possibly planning to use the dynamite for their own plan...What if before the Guild stopped them in their tracks, what if they had a previous attempt to revive Omnicron, failed, and were trying to cover their tracks is the second time went bust? What if the NexoLords accidentally created a Tyrant that was nothing like the great King of Monsters but the heir of Omnicron's heir the first time around?
(Minor spoilers for Micromon, major spoilers for Nexomon 1, post-N1, Nexomon Extinction, and a bunch of rambling/theory crafting below)
TL;DR: Reverse doomsday cult in Frozen Tundra "accidentally" create a monster beyond their comprehension, abandoned it at Palmaya and perpetuate the cycle of neglect Omnicron started with his "weakest child" Metta, the one true heir to the King of Monsters...Then both their plans gets ruined by a blue-haired kid.
Like I made as a joke but already plausible theory, Omnicron's youngest kid Metta (the glass pinata with a titanium ego) would've been considered the king's heir due to his moveset following every bit of his power over all elements at once. But given Metta's (gestures wildly at everything) and not immediately putting the fear of Nexo-God onto humanity, he was ignored and cast aside as the lesser of Omnicron's children...Of course, until everything that happens before and after Nexomon 1. Apart from Metta being murked from Extinction's story due to the dev not wanting to develop his character further (or also from how congested the story is already with all the protags/antagonists); there are plenty of little easter eggs that still show Metta's influence on the world long into the Tyrant War and up until N:E's story. Like him previously making a resurrection machine to revive Omnicron and his siblings and his teacher/unofficial father-figure Malk having a database in a variety of "Nexomon" similar but unknown to the public (Micromon/Pixekai Project); ultimately leading to the NexoLords (and Lobo the ex-Guild Grandmaster) finding the machine's blueprint and Amelie and Logan finding the database and extracting the info to create a anti-Tyrant weapon to topple the war in their favor and end the mindless violence once and for all. And all of this was in the Frozen Tundra, mind you, and most likely in Metta's old home or in Omnicron's Tower/Tomb; though I'm all on the former being the case :).
Circling back to the NexoLords, obviously assuming they had a chance to revive Omnicron and "restore the world's order" with their new blueprints, jumped straight into building/testing out the machine in the tower where Omnicron was once slain long long ago. Maybe they used a Nexomon egg as the catalyst, maybe gathered some residual energy in the ancient site no sane person dared to venture to; but the Nexomon they got was nothing any of them had expected. It was something human-like but not, a Tyrant but not, and a Nexomon with stars in their eyes and a bright smile against the harsh and destructive world around them...
Tumblr media
-That's right, this was a Byeol theory rant all along! And there's nothing you can do to stop me now!! >:D To try and make a more long story short, it makes some sense to me if the NexoLords (and by extension Lobo) made Byeol in their first and only known attempt to revive the doggo dad himself (going heavy in the copium since Omnicron's soul was completely destroyed after N1), so they had to work with what they had even if they had no idea what kind of ancient/primordial Tyrant they're channeling to achieve "world peace". Besides, even if Lobo was the ex-Guild leader and had every chance to read up on Omnicron's history, who wants to bet he had no idea that Metta existed if he was never considered a threat in the first place in the past? After all, Omnicron was a Normal-type and had power over all the elements, so why would he have a Normal-type kid as well? All of his children were killed off by Ulzar, so they had to go for the source of all Nexomon, the Normal-type monster, that's the most obvious choice! (/s) If that then applies to Lobo accidentally making Metta's Tyrant, then why is Byeol found in Palmaya and not Omnicron's Tower and/or the Frozen Tundra? Simple, the NexoLords really didn't want their token Tyrant being a baby cherub bird-thing and totally not Omnicron, so they dumped him at the one place that's "Tyrant-free" and getting the little guy as far away from their base of operation as possible.
But that's still a bit ironic, you know? Metta, abandoned by his father and siblings for not putting humanity under his thumb, eventually becomes the strongest Nexomon tamer in the world (aka the Nexolord) and putting together a plan to revive his dad to destroy humanity once and for all (and finally be his dad's special little boy :). Then there's Byeol, abandoned by a man with an Omnicron mask and his Children of Omnicron-styled lackeys for not being the true King of Monsters and ending the Tyrant War without anymore bloodshed; (fic-wise) becoming a beacon of hope in Palmaya and exploring the world helping those in need and avoiding Tyrant conflicts at all cost. Cause in Byeol's strangely starry eyes, his idea of world peace is for everyone to be nice and get along, human and Nexomon, simple as that.
Whether or not it if the NexoLords knew their "Tyrant" was being raised to be a goody-two-shoes is up to debate; but I really wanted to figure out someway to explain Byeol's existence other than "he's just a post-story legendary just because" or following the series' gimmick of using post-story 'mon for the next game, but the thought itself is pretty funny to me.

Bet (I just dunno who to ask outside of people who...)
Does Ulzar count as an n2 character? He does appear there, albeit in Abyssals. I personally dislike him but you don't have to answer if you don't know
BET
(people who what?)
(Nexomon Series Spoilers)
So. We don't know that much about Ulzar. But I like to read him like I read Amelie or Lobo.
In that he's desperate. In that he's seen terrible things and he desperately needs to stop them. In that he thinks he's right, knows he's right (he's not).
So I might have over-extrapolated this, but it is a possible reading - I've been working with the idea that Ulzar was killed by his own Nexomon. How? Maybe Omnicron's last revenge (or Metta's?). I came up with something for HR.
So what I think happened was something like this.
Ulzar's born into a war between humans and Nexomon. He wants this war to stop, and he knows how. He uses his Nexomon to fight - and maybe he's ruthless with it, because his enemies (or at least their leadership) are too.
He stands out. He attracts Deena's attention. She stands besides him as he goes on his crusade to save humanity by killing Omnicron and his children.
Omnicron tells him that all Nexomon are evil. Ulzar doesn't want to believe it. He tells himself that Omnicron was just saying that to be cruel, a last revenge.
And maybe he finds out about Deena and doesn't react well. Maybe he cuts ties with her. And maybe... that leaves him undefended.
Something comes over Ulzar's Nexomon. Ulzar dies betrayed by his own companions, his own Nexomon.
He then has centuries to stew in this. The Nexomon he's seen have either been his enemies or his former friends who killed him. Is it any wonder he starts to think maybe Omnicron told the truth after all?
The N1 protagonist comes along. Ulzar sees them, Deena's next champion, so devoted to their Nexomon friends, and he pities them. He thinks something terrible is going to happen to them. He sees them as an even more naive version of what he used to be. So he tries to tell them, tries to dissuade them time after time, but it doesn't work. They love their friends too much to believe a word he says. He hates that he can't protect them.
...but nothing happens to them, other than having to fight Omnicron. Ulzar... starts thinking.
After another thousand years, he's calmed down. Possibly talked to Blue. Probably figured out that it wasn't his Nexomon's fault. Is still very bitter towards Omnicron, which is entirely fair.
This is mostly from memory, but I did check one thing. Ulzar shows up briefly in N2, just before the final fight. And he's very courteous to the protagonist, despite clearly knowing what's going on. There's no way he doesn't know Solus's identity. So I conclude that by n2, he's changed his mind.
(He also says not to be too harsh on Amelie and the Guild, for it was Omnicron who pushed them to such extreme measures (near quote). He understands Amelie's desperation, I think, because he's felt a similar thing himself. I really do read Ulzar and Amelie similarly.)
thank you very much for the ask! this was a fun one.

Deena HC's that are stuck in my head so I'd thought I'd share:
She's Aro/Ace
Between the time of Ulzar and N1, she was in a deep coma
She likes music but hid it from the N1 gang bc she thought it was silly
Ira helped her realize she shouldn't hide her passion
Her stage name used to be Divine Daffi
She used to play many instruments
Now only rarely plays her violin
A little after Zariya arrived, Deena took her out in her airship to see the sunrise during which she played her violin for Zari
Her N1 team (During Novi's journey): Polentina the Polenblom, Squeakers the Cheekmunk, Eepy the Leafegg
Her N1 team (Once the Guild is founded): Polentina the Polerina, Fluff the Dandemill, Red the Lantora, Eepy the Floreus, Squeakers the Hoardent, and Rose the Lagorove
Her N:E team: Flo the Bloomriol, Mint the Foreer, Tulip the Mantrass, Spike the Sikipha, Sage the Raksuma (Cosmic)
Sage was added after Zari chose Noki at the start
Later adds Petal the Florozard after the Extinction-Project sidequest
is friends with Boscage
Visits Hilda every month
Had Novi promise to watch over Zariya
Later had Carlos promise as well
Was very close with Carlos before his death
Is constantly 'haunted' by Carlos' ghost
Traumatized after watching Carlos then Lucifer die
Deeply advocated for SCI
SCI rep
Has been with the Guild since its conception
Fakes her death every few decades and rejoins a few months later under a different alias to not arouse suspicion
During the time she is 'dead' she hides with either Hilda or Luke + Oliver
15 years after, she still misses Carlos and Luci
'youngest' Grandmaster out of her, Xanders, Edward, and Carlos
Tried talking sense into Lobo back when he was Guildmaster but it didn't really work
Little sister figure to Ulzar
Adopted little sister to Novi
Ever since Ulzar helped her see that she can be her own self, she's wished for an end to His legacy
"I may be scared, but I'm standing my ground! After all, isn't standing my ground what you always wanted me to do...Father?"
After seeing how happy Novi + Ellie were with Luke, she wished she had her own happy family
bad with technology yet is surprisingly a good airship flyer
Baking used to be a hobby before the sun left
Knows about Vados thanks to Ellie's help
Knows Sign Language
Was helping learn Luke sign before she died
Knew she would die long before the Bunker Incident
Zariya's secret mentor
"I will risk it all and give my very life to you, if it means the Sun has a chance to rise again"
"I can't remember the me I used to be"
She is on VERY thin ice with Amelie
"All I want can't be, but still I pray for a break in time,"
Has a picture of Baby!Zariya with her hidden in her cloak at all times
"Everything is on the line, Carlos! Everything is on the line because she is Aurelia's last hope for the Sun's return and she doesn't know the truth..."
"I see Them for what They truly are... Yet, it is They who reminded me of my beating heart,"
"I can't love her the way I want to, Carlos, but I can love her as I always have -from afar,"
"Soon, she will see Them for who They really are, and until then, I will guide her as best a I can,"
Has a framed photo of her and Carlos in her office
Her office is a a bit small but she makes it work
On the bright side it has a nice window and she has lots of plants in it
Her office is very feng shui
All SCI Tamers are sent her way when joining because the Guild doesn't want to deal with them

So here's a question. How much of the Netherworld section of Nexomon 1 is actually...real?
Even before we go in there, we're in the nightmare. You go talk to the scientists first, and they explain that they cannot get in touch with anyone, a problem repeatedly brought up in the nightmare itself. You're already in it before even taking the portal itself. Presumably, everything past that point is pretend.
But Glacia is, in fact, gone. Juliet comments on it after defeating Omnicron, that Glacia just disappeared and no one knows where she went.
The creation of the device to send you to the Netherworld was clearly real. You got there somehow, after all.
Miriam is real. She expresses you only met her fake self in the nightmare, but you never met her before then. The nightmare doesn't even operate off of what you, specifically, know. You met her false self first. This implies conjuration of real world elements you may not even be aware of, similar to Grunda's human form. Nexomon 2 pretty much confirms that is how Grunda looks as a human, so this isn't just made up.
And of course, Nexomon 2 has repeated jokes about the Mandrasses. Which weren't even real. And which Deena wasn't even around for, yet seems to remember. Which implies that at least some of the events are true, and Ziegler is commandeering them for this nightmare to prevent recognition of discrepancy. The setting is a little wonky, but some of it, at least, seems grounded in reality.
But other parts clearly aren't. Is the vortex real? We don't really know how Omnicron truly came here, nor if they can actually be sent back that way. If it were, and Ulzar had the power to banish them that way, why wouldn't he have? That one seems entirely made up.
Similarly, the netherworld almost certainly wasn't created by Ulzar as they initially claim, much less the wardens being his creation.
The rangers are likely not real, given they'd have no way to be there, similar to the iteration of Spencer and the bounty hunter we see. The children of Omnicron likely aren't real, but...did you meet them too? Like, in the actual run? Because it seems likely they'd defend their father, or need to be dealt with first considering they can supply him with their power.
Then there are the completely up in the air components. Like...is Merida actually the weakest sibling? That may not be a hard fact, but rather perception; but whose? Does the protagonist believe that, or Ziegler? If it's Ziegler's...that's an outside objective opinion, he might be right.
In all their fake nightmares, does that align to them? It feels right for each of them, but they weren't entirely real. Is that truly what their nightmare looked like, or is that again just perception? And yours, or Ziegler's?
For being effectively just a big dream sequence, it does raise a lot of questions about what truly did happen in the initial run we didn't see.

Welcome to The Quantumyth. Conceived by Italian-Australian illustrator-author Albert Chessa on January 1, 2000, it is a 1,000 page-long, fully illustrated book containing 100 stories at 10 pages each (at size 10 font), presented as 100 individual booklets:
[Hard Front Cover with embossed Protagonist, Glyph and Rune]
• 1-page introduction and dedication
• 1-page glyph (symbol representing the story)
• 1-page protagonist illustration (the hero of the story)
• 1-page synopsis (with ‘elevator pitch’ at the top)
• 3-page story (a more detailed synopsis, in three acts)
• 1-page development notes
• 1-page of lore/world notes
• 1-page miscellaneous art (artefacts, weapons, more)
[Hard Back Cover with Back Cover Synopsis]
The simple writing style and illustrations are influenced by lore books and the art of Yoji Shinkawa and Akihiko Yoshida (MGS and Final Fantasy).
The estimated date of completion and independent publishing of the book is currently January 1, 2030.
After this, Quantumyth Studios will be fully established, and will undertake assistive AI-supported creation of games,
films, shows and more (including sculptures and merchandise) based on the 100 'QM’ stories.
This studio will be modelled after:
• Giant Squid Studios
• Studio Ghibli
• Gen DESIGN
• Lucasfilm
• Kojima Productions
• A24
The estimated release of the very first 'QM’ game/film/show (adapted from the aforementioned self-published book) is January 1, 2040 (Chessa will be 52 years old).
From age 52 to 102 (50 years), each year will see the release of 2 'QM’ works, with the goal of all 100 adaptations being supervised by (and released within the lifespan of) Chessa.
The 100 stories, along with the eighteen 'Mythsources’ they are related in/extracted from (i.e. in-universe artefacts that 'contain’ each experience, found in a place called The Chamber of Vynth, which Chessa accessed on January 1, 2000) and their adaptation names, are:

Welcome to The Quantumyth. Conceived by Italian-Australian illustrator-author Albert Chessa on January 1, 2000, it is a 1,000 page-long, fully illustrated book containing 100 stories at 10 pages each (at size 10 font): • 1-page introduction and dedication
• 1-page glyph (symbol representing the story)
• 1-page protagonist illustration (the hero of the story)
• 1-page synopsis (with 'elevator pitch' at the top)
• 3-page story (a more detailed synopsis, in three acts)
• 1-page development notes
• 1-page of lore/world notes
• 1-page miscellaneous art (artefacts, weapons, more)
The estimated date of completion and independent publishing of the book is currently January 1, 2030. After this, Quantumyth Studios will be fully established, and will undertake the assistive AI-supported creation of games, films, shows and more (including sculptures and merchandise) based on the 100 'QM' stories.
This studio will be modelled after:
• Giant Squid Studios
• Studio Ghibli
• Gen DESIGN
• Lucasfilm
• Kojima Productions
• A24
The estimated release of the very first 'QM' game/film/show (adapted from the aforementioned self-published book) is January 1, 2040 (Chessa will be 52 years old).
From age 52 to 102 (50 years), each year will see the release of 2 'QM' works, with the goal of all 100 adaptations being supervised by (and released within the lifespan of) Chessa.
The 100 stories, along with the 'mythsources' they are extracted from (i.e. in-universe artefacts that 'contain' each experience, found in a place called The Chamber of Vynth, which Chessa accessed on January 1, 2000), are:

HOOOO boy. Our beloved elf right here, so a few things (also op I wouldn't worry about N:E with this dude)
-MISSED POTENTIAL PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF ULZAR GIVE HIM JUST SOMETHING?
-I love how even though I joke about him being an elf he clearly doesn't even try, like in that pic with him and everyone, he clearly has longer ears. Also that jacket is like 12 sizes too big.
-I have a lot of feelings about how JV handled him but I'll just say he was supposed to have a warden for himself, not Ziegler, they had a white hood
-Okay so, he's so smug, like. Let me punch him.
-He clearly probably has at least a somewhat decent opinion of Zetta because I mean Zetta Metta, one letter apart, and considering they probably didn't need disguises for jack, Zetta was probably just tryna be a lil shite
-If you aren't in the discord you wouldn't know (or did dabble in ao3), but his 'joke' name is James. Apparently his intended one was Nate, everyone calls him James he doesn't even look like a Nate.
-I want to punch him, did I say I want to punch him?
Alright Nexomon fans out here, honest opinion about this guy ?

I don't think I asked this yet - Merida for the ramble ask game!
Merida!! Alright, let's try I'm feeling in the mood to be absolutely wrong
Nexomon spoilers, and a bit of Nexomon:Extinction spoilers
Merida, Champion of Water also known as Arqua of the Bottomless Oceans (iirc), Prisoner to Darine
Merida! I feel like if I were to rang the CoO in how much they tolerate humanity, (Deena dominates the top chart, but) Merida would be near the top as well
She's the world's worst volleyball player, and she even had fans! That's a human sport, and to get into tournaments you need a team, of 6 players. And you know I don't see her family loving volleyball all that much, right?
Even then 6 means she'd need to revive Grunda to have 6
So she obviously, at the very least, plays Volleyball with humans, like on the same team (and she needs to play in a game to cheat, so if they accused her of cheating she played in at least one game)
Now as someone who sucks absolutely ass at Volleyball (don't ask me to catch something you throw at me,), I'd think weather one likes it or not. Playing matches with someone (even if with a "higher than thou" mentality, which all of them have towards humanity), ya gotta at least respect them. Does anyone wanna bet a human had to (try to) help her with volleyball at someone point because she was uh... Not the best
I don't think JV thought that far ahead when he made it volleyball but I have, bastard.
She also has a fake persona, of like a cute volleyball girl(.. Merida, Merida please watch yours horns,) which lasts until you kick her bum
Still, her having one-
And then after your volleyball she leaves you alone because James called, and then she tries to drown you!
.. Because you're trying to stop the reveal of Grunda to be fair, but still tries to stop you!
Then we skip the tower entirely (she does say we have no idea what we're going up against)
Then it's nightmare time! It's weird, while everyone does have humans in their dreams (Nadine doesn't count because she's unconscious on the floor currently), Zetta bullies them, Fenrir makes a riot kinda, Grunda is the protector (Also screaming at the Nara thing) but aside from him, Merida is the only one who's civil
Or I'm assuming she is, hard to tell with how little we saw. But we can assume she was probably just having the time of her life playing actual good volleyball
Which is something to say the least, considering she's actually enjoying human activities - unlike the rest who are doing their own thing
And then n2!!!
She's apparently in Palmaya but she's currently in Frozen watching over the tower (James please this is like your area™ where are you.), and aside from a small memory thing with Atlas, she seems to be better
So do the rest of them, honestly, it was so good to see the Omni kids tolerating humanity in various degrees

But on the other end of the "Who's the N:E MC's dad?" conversation, there would've been some in-game confusion that went on in the background since (to me) Deena/Nara had the kid perfectly on her own ala parthenogenesis/plant deer Virgin Mary. Though I mostly focus on the default male avatar for obvious reasons, I'm kind of surprised that no one mentioned his similarities to Ulzar and the N1 protag.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Either way, it would be kind of sweet of Deena if she wanted to commemorate two of the most important people in her life through her son, though I'm also betting that Ulrich/Grunda just took the creative liberties giving him Ulzar-like clothes as an inside joke (definitely hand-me-downs). Still, since these ghostly dudes would’ve been watching on the sidelines before everything came in full swing, there had to be some questions about his hypothetical paternity somewhere along the line. Magical pregnancy or not, it would've been really awkward for everyone involved until they agreed to disagree on the matter.

Wait hol up, you kinda got a point 👀
Tbh, personally I didn't really consider the flashback/intro cutscenes as perfectly accurate. Something something the inherent exaggeration of describing a legend to make it more grandiose or scary, something something Ulzar's memories twisting the events to accurately describe their horror etc
But this is actually more fascinating! To add to that, I'm pretty sure he is so much bigger in the intro sequence (mf can also fly??? Levitate??? Whatever) so him being fresh from revival does mean that his uh... nefarious shadow aura is just not properly formed ig
I like to think this implies that Omnisun too has a lovecraftian form-
Something that I've been wondering for a little while recently is if Omnicron was supposed to look more like a lovecraftian horror, or something along those lines. I haven't played Nexomon 1 in 2 years so I'm just going off what other people have said and the wiki, but iirc, Omnicron is a creature from an entirely different dimension, yet he just looks like a wolf with some fantasy elements? Either way I find the idea of Omnicron to be, similarly to Cthulu for example, something *humans aren't supposed to see*, very interesting. Omnicron is essentially the Nexomon God, don't you think human people seeing him would be something almost forbidden, to the point their brains can barely even comprehend it? Do you think that some of the oldest Nexomon species, because of Omnicron being lovecraftian and sharing his genes, also looked incomprehensible and horrific, but over the span of hundreds of years the more Nexomon became the way they are in the games because of selective human breeding, evolution and adaptation to the environment? Idk maybe this is a better idea for some kind of horror au

I feel like I'm going to write n0 (nexomon Ulzar edition) one of these days (joking I am joking I do not need to invent that many side characters no matter how quietly insane I am about Ulzar)

Khan overhaul and redesign!
Played the firstborn nexomon game again after 4 years and still definitely adore this game
Except for...that section
Yeah, going through the khan village part of the game could be described as dreadful
It’s so... needlessly racist (I sure do love interacting with confused Native American caricature, ain’t that a blast), almost embarrassingly uncomfortable and if that’s not enough, it’s such a mindfuckingly bizarre, dare I say, grossly cheap narrative and designing choice that I can’t understand why they opted to do that instead of literally ANYTHING else
There is a whole rant about how this portion of the game vexes me endlessly but I’ll save that for perhaps another time.
The village itself I will be referring to as the hidden sanctuary. Catching wind of the reality that Omnicron’s last words to Ulzar was that his spawn had an internalized kill switch that would be activated with their king’s rebirth, a large group of people decided to essentially create a safe heaven from essentially the monster Armageddon. In fear of a possible child of the tyrant surviving, the opted to gradually erase their existence  from the eyes of the grant populace. Through the years, members of the sanctuary freely go in and out of their base (a thing the game itself explicitly portrays) to pursue more knowledge and interests to bring back. They aren’t recognizable,in fact none of them have ever been uncovered, a handful even being big names in certain communities (I like to think the healer lady was a well-known doctor that eventually retired and now lives peacefully in the sanctuary with her partner whom she met in med school)
Essentially they aren’t cut off from the rest of the would, the rest of the world is cut off from THEM
Khan himself was born in the village and soon discovered his powers in foresight and communication with those beyond. He is, as Hilda herself described their kind in the abyssals dlc, one of the arcane (gonna make a post of them at some point) and is especially adept at making plant life grow and develop. He is a sage foremost and then an official overseer, both of the sanctuary and the world(?) at large, assigned by Remus when he was the nexolord, though the majority either doesn’t know about him or believe half truths about how he just resides somewhere in the jungle
He has a collection of tattoos framing his upper half portraying the elements (because i thought it looked cool, hush) and his fit consists mostly of earthy colors. He spends most of his time by Ventra’s tree in the heart of the sanctuary but he does tent to venture out once in a while to buy soda and cigarettes by the tourist convenience store in the jungle wearing a pair of crocs, shorts and one of the thousand palmayan shirts that Hilda insists if gifting him because she thinks she’s been funny. Speaking of Hilda, she regularly paints his nails black purely because official art has portrayed him with black nails (ventra boss fight) and you have no evidence to prove me otherwise-
Anyway, obvious disclaimer that the word vomit above is by no means perfect (and feel free to correct me) but anything else functional other than what is currently in place is a step from literal rock bottom
