Ultraman Geed: Fatherhood

Right from the get go, Zero was introduced to serve as Belial's foil. Upon rewatching Geed, I noticed the writers once again applying this trope but in circumstances of the present instead of the past.

The circumstance: fatherhood.

SPOILERS FOR ULTRAMAN GEED UP AHEAD!!!

Belial is the 'father' of the MC, Geed/Riku. He created his 'son' with the sole purpose of using him as a pawn. You'd think the evil mastermind would personally raise the boy to groom him into the perfect obedient underling, right?

Wrong. Bro handed him off to Kei & both of them decided the best course of action was to leave the baby at the observatory.

Belial intentionally, fully consciously created a child (him being a clone doesn't change the fact that said clone at the time was a baby in need of care) with no intention of taking responsibility for him. In other words, he's a deadbeat dad.

Zero on the other hand couldn't have been anymore different. His host is Leito, a salaryman & a father. However, there's no way he could've known about the second part before choosing Leito as his host. Mayu was a variable that just happened.

He was taken off guard but took it in stride. Now, he could've remained apathetic to Leito's role as a father & what it entails (i.e. the bond a father shares with his daughter) afterwards but he doesn't.

He sees what it's like to be a parent. He learns to understand how precious humans are as individuals who are a sum of a family instead of a species. When Mayu is threatened, he doesn't just protect her because it's the right thing to do or for Leito's sake. He does it bcz Mayu, the 'daughter' he never thought he'd meet, is someone Zero cares for.

Zero is the dad that chose to step into the role when he didn't have to, when he had the choice to choose not to & face no repercussions for it.

well i most recently finished kamen rider build and (comically long censor beep) so long story short i think its very good and im making someone who was on the fence about watching it watch it now. i really cannot get into it but it was kind of scientifically engineered to fuck with me as a person and also was just a very well written story and is one that makes a rewatch drive you up the wall sento is really testing my love for other characters he really might become number 1 protagonist

but im actually already watching something else now which is after like 6 months im picking up ryuki again and im 12 episodes in and i like them :] i hear theres also things that will fuck with me in ryuki beyond the major character death spoilers i happen to know so thats great and not scary at all.

this also isnt counting the fact im doing super hero time with friends so im also watching two ultraman shows rn shout outs to super hero time r/b is a funny ass show to be among my first ultraman shows and geed is a nice time :]

does... watching 2 episodes of power rangers dino charge during a mental breakdown count we think. beloved childhood show that has aged about as well as you would imagine. i really need to see kyoryu and put those suits in a different context LOL

19. If you could go back and change one show, what would you change?

good lord where do i start. im mostly a kamen rider watcher and in that regard i have very controversial picks as my favourite shows id say. off the top of my head if i could do one thing id probably go back in time and hold inoue at gunpoint to get rid of mihara entirely from faiz and have mari turn into delta instead. but with the way he is hed probably kill her at the end of the episode and have keitaro would end up with it. still somehow a better option than mihara being there hes so nothing for such a good looking suit. adds nothing to the plot at all hes just there. dont worry when my entirety of faiz rewrite happens to make it about mari and osada then you will all see

First of all, I love your blog so much because its informative and fun to read. Its a weird question, have any male ultra got any female host? Today Geed episode suprised me the fact that Belial possesed Arie all along and its nice and weird to me because Belial a male after all. O yeah, i'm a newbie in ultraman universe and only watched Geed, Orb and most of Zero shows and movie.

As to your question, I’d like to start by saying the Arie revelation totally came out of left field for me.  I did not see that coming and I think I honestly gasped when that was revealed.  Well played, Geed writers, well played.

Now, as for male Ultras with female hosts that has only kind of been done once before.  In 1972′s Ultraman Ace, Ace split himself between two hosts because he found them both so noble and they both sacrificed themselves to help others. They were Seiji Hokuto (male) and Yuko Minami (female).

They had a pair of rings that they had to touch together to transform into Ultraman Ace.

Sadly, apparently early 1970s audiences weren’t ready for a female Ultra host and she was written out of the series.  It was revealed she was actually from the moon and after Ultraman Ace avenged her people, she had to leave the planet and gave her ring to Hokuto, making him the only host for Ace.

Much, much later, two women would be the host for the same Ultra Hero, Ultraman Nexus.

Those two are actually from two different series as well.  The first was Nagi Saijyo, a member of the monster fighting team the Night Raiders from the actual Ultraman Nexus series.

The second was Sayuri Tachibana, a member of the defense team XiO from 2015′s Ultraman X.

I may have just scared Remus a little bit because I just yelled "YESSSS MY BABY IS BACK!!!!!" Seeing that Ultraman Geed is going to be in episode 6 of Ultraman Z. I'm kind of glad that Jugglus is back. Is he a good person? No. Is he entertaining? Yes

thoughts on geed royal mega master?

Ok, I thought the two-part episode introducing him was amazing!  The conflict between Riku and Belial inside of his heart and mind was really well handled and it finally gave Ultraman Geed his Big Damn Hero moment to truly become the lead of the series rather than be constantly upstaged by Ultraman Zero. This was the episode I had been waiting for all series.

However, I think you want my impression on the fusion form itself.

I like it. I like the mantle, the Gold sections and even the weapon.  It is very regal as befits a form granted by Ultraman King.  The shoulderpads don’t bother me on this one because they serve a function and don’t stick up too far. The name is a little silly but I am not going to split hairs there.His powers are pretty great as well (though I won’t get into them too much to avoid massive spoilers) and though it might seem a little overpowered compared to a monster of the week, it was what was needed to deal with Ultraman Belial.

Overall, it’s a pretty great Final Form (if this is, indeed his Final Form) and I look forward to where the series goes from here now that Geed has been fully accepted by the population of the Earth and he’s seen as a real hero.

Also, his main body is purple.  I love purple heroes!
