ALL FOR ONE AND ONE FOR ALL
Welcome to the Most Magnificent Musketeer Tournament!
We’re assembling the ultimate Three Musketeers cast, with the best version of each character. The finest D’Artagnan, the most seductive Milady, the perfect Athos Aramis & Porthos, the craftiest Richelieu, the cutest Constance, etc etc etc.
Each character will be duelling their opponents until we find tumblr’s favourite for each role.
(We all know that fighting duels is against the law, but the Cardinals have allowed special permission for the duration of the tournament - they’re all convinced that they will win “Best Cardinal Richelieu”, so as long as we keep them distracted scheming against each other, we can run the rest of the competition in peace.)
So how do you define Best?
However you want! The hottest, the best fencer, the drunkest, the largest moustache, the one with the ugliest horse, the most book-accurate, whatever works for you. But let’s be honest, most of these will probably be decided on looks, unless you can make a good argument otherwise!
Who can I submit?
Anyone who’s starred in a live action adaptation of The Three Musketeers, or one of the sequels (eg The Man in the Iron mask), as long as it involves the four main characters (D’Artagnan, Athos, Aramis & Porthos). This includes movies and TV shows, in any language.
When submitting, please make sure you include the year that your movie or show was released, as that’s often the only way to tell the difference between all these versions of the story with the same name!
You can also send in propaganda to support your favourite character’s case, in the form of text, pictures, gifs and short videos. At this stage, only propaganda sent in via the submission form will be accepted.
Acceptable propaganda: Anything from the property in question, including promotional material, behind the scenes and interviews related to the movie or show. Please don’t submit anything with your chosen actor in other roles - only Musketeer-related propaganda is allowed.
You can submit as many characters or versions of characters as you like, but please only make one submission for each variant!
You can send in your submissions here.
This is a friendly competition, and I won’t be reblogging or promoting any negative propaganda for contestants. Be excellent to each other!
This blog was inspired by @hotvintagepoll’s Dracula Daily casting, and @medievalandfantasymelee’s abundance of King Arthurs and Robin Hoods.

Why did gawain not become king of orkney after Lot died?
That's a simple question with a very complicated answer.
To be really, really, really short and concise**, it boils down to two things:
One: Lot originally didn't die fighting Arthur.
In the earlies stories of Arthuriana, like Geoffrey of Monmouth's Historia Regum Britanniae, Lot never warred with Arthur. The Sword in the Stone and the Mayday Massacre never happened in these older stories, so Lot has no reason to fight Arthur.
In fact, King Lot lives all the way to the end of Arthur's reign. Here's one example:
Didot Percival
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So really, Gawain doesn't succeed Lot because originally, Lot was alive the whole time and Gawain dies at Mordred's rebellion before he can succeed Lot, who dies shortly after.
Lot's early death is actually a relatively recent Plot Point that was introduced in Vulgate/Post-Vulgate.
Its a retcon that only exists as a plot device to give Gawain a motive to be evil for revenge against Pellinore and his family.
There's also a bit Stations of the Canon at play here - Traditionally, Gawain is supposed to be one of Arthur's Greatest Warriors, so inevitably, he must join the Round Table... even when later stories change things so it doesn't make sense anymore.
By Post-Vulgate, Arthur is not only responsible for the death of his father but also seemingly the death of his newborn baby brother, Mordred. Gawain, logically, has no reason to like Arthur, much less join him.
So basically, its later retcons that don't jive with Gawain's positioning as member of Arthur's household. With Lot's early death, Gawain shouldn't be running around adventuring and questing when his homeland needs him to run things.
The medieval writers took for granted that Gawain is able to be present in Arthur's court for particular reasons.
Which leads us to the second reason
Two: Because then Gawain would be unable to adventure anymore
Basically, Gawain is a traditional hero of Arthuriana, and him not being in Camelot anymore would drastically change the cast dynamics and the story. It's like if Superman and Batman retired from the Justice League and didn't show up anymore.
Gawain can't meet Lancelot and join the Grail Quest if he's stuck up in the North, doing boring Kingly duties.
Ultimately, the Medieval writers just simply didn't care about Gawain's realistic feudal duties and obligations. To them, Gawain and the other knights are adventurer-protagonists: they're heroes first, feudal lords second.
That's why you don't see Lancelot managing Joyous Gard - that's boring real life crap the Medieval audiences wouldn't be interested in seeing. So, Lancelot goes around joining tournaments and beating up knights in random directions instead.
Arthurian Literature is essentially Chivalric escapist fantasy. It's about quests and fights, action and excitement.
And YES, it doesn't make any sense that Gawain isn't called "King Gawain"
**(I wrote an entire essay as an answer, only to stop I when realized its too long and overly wordy LOL)

Prototype Jack (プロトタイプ・ジャック Purototaipu Jakku?, in Russian: Прототип Джек) (P. Jack for short) is a playable robot in the Tekken series of fighting games. Prototype Jack was created and designed by Doctor Bosconovitch as the prototype model of the main Jack series. However, after it was stolen by Heihachi Mishima, it was pitted against the main line of Jacks.

Biography
In search of a new, more devastating, weapon, the Russian military began work on the development of androids - superhuman robots built for the purpose of causing destruction. The first step in production was the prototype model of what was to become a line of military robots, which were named "Jack". The prototype was stolen by Heihachi Mishima and his Mishima Zaibatsu, but Russia was still able to produce their main line of Jack robots without the prototype at hand. With the project a success, the first Jack was entered into the King of Iron Fist Tournament. On learning of this, Heihachi entered Prototype Jack into the tournament to face its upgraded counterpart. Prototype Jack was ultimately destroyed by Jack. A couple of years later, the genius Russian scientist, Doctor Bosconovitch, was kidnapped by the new CEO of the Zaibatsu, Kazuya Mishima. Bosconovitch repaired and updated Prototype Jack. After being remodeled and gaining new abilities, Prototype Jack was entered into the second tournament as a rival to the upgraded Jack robot, Jack-2.
It is unknown what happened to Prototype Jack after this. In the non-canonical Tekken Chronicle, some of Prototype Jack's parts, along with parts from Jack and Jack-2, were used in the creation of Gun Jack.[3] Given that Gun Jack inherited some of Prototype Jack's moves, and was partially built in Mishima Industries where Prototype Jack received its upgrades, it is possible that canonically its remains were indeed dismantled and used in the creation of Gun Jack.
Personality
Despite being a robot, Prototype Jack was able to develop some kind of sentience. As a result of being discarded in favor of the main Jack series, it came to resent the Jacks and their creators - the Russian government. As a result, Prototype Jack is an aggressive character, determined to grow stronger and smarter in order to destroy all of its opposition, especially the Jacks, which it sees as potentially obsoleting it and jeopardizing its utility. While silent in battle with the exception of generic grunts and growls, outside of battle Prototype Jack was very vocal about its thirst for strength and intelligence, and frequently practices its newly-learned abilities to the point of perfection to ensure it will never again be defeated.
Appearance
As a prototype model, Prototype Jack's appearance lacks the finesse of the main line of Jacks. In its original appearance, it lacks a human-like torso and arms; its robotic frame is visible and it possesses a pincer and a drill in place of arms. Prototype Jack has a humanoid head, although it is noticeably damaged, and one of its boots is a metal prosthetic. After being remodeled, Prototype Jack gained a new, more distinctive look. It now looks more like the main line of Jack robots, although it lacks the Jacks' skin-like finish; it instead has a shiny, metallic finish. It also now has a rotating hand, a feature which was expanded upon in later releases, allowing it to spin at the waist also.
Outfits
Main Article: Prototype Jack/Outfits
The original build of Prototype Jack wore only green camouflage pants and left the rest of its robotic body exposed. Its second outfit was a bright metal exoskeleton or suit of lightweight body armor, giving it a Robocop-like appearance. After being remodeled for Tekken 2, Prototype Jack received the same outfit of camouflage pants, tank top and combat boots worn by the main line of Jack robots. While these Jacks sport a distinctive Mohawk hairstyle, Prototype Jack differed by wearing sunglasses and a military cap.
Story
Tekken
Version 1: The prototype for Jack was developed in Russia. Since it was just a step in the production, the skin was removed from the mecha. Prototype Jack (or P. Jack, for short) was built only for power, so his power capacity far surpasses that of the completed Jack. The tournament's sponsor, Heihachi Mishima, has entered P. Jack into the contest in order to pit him against Jack.
Version 2: P. Jack is the experimental version of Jack, which Russia developed. As it is only a prototype model, its mechanics are still evident. Its overall balance is bad, but even so, it possesses a power that far exceeds Jack's own. Heihachi has entered Prototype Jack in the tournament to confront Jack, whom it hates.[4]
Tekken 2
Tekken 2 Prototype Jack's Ending
Version 1: After the first King of Iron Fist Tournament, the remains of the first Prototype Jack unit (a first-stage model of the final Jack model) were repaired after almost being destroyed by Jack's rampaging combat abilities. Upon reactivation, P. Jack complained that his alter-ego had received a refit, and he repeated his complaint until his fuel ran out. Now resting in Kazuya Mishima's laboratory, P. Jack was left untouched for months before a back-up fuel supply reactivated him, and once again he began his constant pleas for a new look. To quiet him, Kazuya gave his captured scientist, Doctor Bosconovitch, the task of remodeling the robot.[citation needed]
With a cunning memory change, the doctor managed to convince P. Jack that his new body afforded him superior protection to Jack's, despite it being only a hat and sunglasses. Kazuya is currently goading P. Jack, demanding more programmed maneuvers in time for The King of Iron Fist Tournament 2. Having repeated his fighting moves over and over (to such an extent that the doctor disconnected P. Jack's voice box), P. Jack now feels his next encounter with Jack will have a much different conclusion.[citation needed]
Version 2: Prototype Jack, an android built for military applications. Prototype Jack solicited Kazuya's assistance with upgrades after learning that only its successor, Jack, was making advances in that area, and for reasons beyond its understanding, Kazuya promptly agrees and has Dr. Bosconovitch comply with the androids request. Unbeknownst to it, the only changes made were to its outer shell, which was now armor plated. Prototype Jack despises both Jack and its developers, namely Russia. Recent overwrites of its own CPU has resulted in memory loss, causing Prototype Jack even more grief.[5]
Ending Description: Prototype Jack traverses a tunnel and emerges from the shadows into a chamber with a vertical opening. P. Jack turns on the boosters in its legs and rises upward, into the sky. As it flies away, it explodes and three screws drop back onto the ground.
Other Appearances
Tekken: The Motion Picture
In Tekken: The Motion Picture, three Prototype Jack robots are programmed to protect the labs in which Lee Chaolan and Heihachi Mishima had their test subjects hidden. There comes a point in time where the three Prototype Jacks and Jack-2, along with Lei Wulong, have a battle in the middle of the lab.
Tekken Tag Tournament
Tekken Tag Tournament Prototype Jack Ending
Prototype Jack appeared in Tekken Tag Tournament as a playable character.
Ending Description: Prototype Jack and Gun Jack are standing facing each other. They nod to each other in unison, then turn to face the screen. They then both lift their arms and fly up into the sky, performing a synchronized version of one of their win poses. This ending takes place at Paul's stage.
Namco X Capcom
Prototype Jack appeared in Namco X Capcom as an enemy character. It first appears in Chapter 14, along with a second Prototype Jack, as part of Waya Hime's army, when she attempts to ambush Bravoman and Jin Kazama.
Tekken Tag Tournament 2
Prototype Jack appeared as a playable character in Tekken Tag Tournament 2, sporting the same look it received in Tekken 2 and the original Tekken Tag Tournament. Its fighting style is very similar to Jack-6's, although it has a slightly different moveset, making use of its rotating hand and torso.
Profile: The first incarnation of the JACK series, developed by Russian engineers. Hoping to be upgraded along with his fellow JACK units, P. Jack had Dr. Bosconovitch add rotating arms and torso, as well as flight capabilities, to his frame. He is generally well-balanced in all regards, but his strength exceeds previously developed JACK units. He runs on gasoline.[6]
Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Prototype Jack Ending
Ending Description: An enormous Prototype Jack is being built in a construction lab by many regular Prototype Jacks. A regular Prototype Jack walks toward to the large robot and stares at it. The body of the robot under construction opens and steps descend from its torso. P. Jack enters into the stomach of the robot and sits down at a control panel. It activates the robot and prepares to launch with a countdown while the other Prototype Jacks leave the perimeter. Just as the giant P. Jack launches, a regular Prototype Jack rushes back into frame holding up a large screw. It desperately waving to the pilot in an attempt to get iy to abort the (incomplete) giant P. Jack's launch. The pilot, however, misinterprets the worker's actions as a simple good-bye wave, and does a thumbs up. The Prototype Jacks on the ground are left to watch helplessly as the giant P. Jack launches, rising high into the air before exploding, after which three screws fall back into the hangar.
Gameplay
All Jack robots embody the huge, slow and powerful fighter archetype: they need only a few solid hits to destroy an opponent, but they're very slow and their limited moveset can be predictable, so they require good timing to play well. Jacks deal good damage and possess good pokes and throws, but their real advantage comes from the long range of many of their attacks - most of their punishers are able to hit from afar.
In Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Prototype Jack returned with its moveset changed to be more similar to Jack-6's. There are some differences between the two - Prototype Jack utilizes its spinning limb related moves, while Jack-6 possesses extendable arms - but their core gameplay is essentially the same. Prototype Jack also has moves used by previous Jack models that Jack-6 no longer has.
Fighting Style
While other characters utilize Martial Arts, what Jack robots do is best described as "using brute force to annihilate the opponent", and their fighting style is listed as "Brute Force" accordingly. Prototype Jack is no exception.

Character Relationships
Dr. Bosconovitch - Its original creator and also its remodeler in Tekken 2.
The Jack series - P. Jacks more advanced successors and rivals whom it hates. Defeated by Jack and possibly destroyed by Jack-2.
Kazuya Mishima - Ordered Dr. Bosconovitch to remodel it for Tekken 2.
Heihachi Mishima - Entered P. Jack to fight the main Jack in the first tournament, either for Heihachi's own amusement or as defense against the perceived threat of Jack - although Jack's true target was Kazuya, not Heihachi. It is unclear how Heihachi managed to steal P. Jack from the Russians.
Trivia
General:
Prototype Jack is the only Jack model that doesn't have plutonium blood; instead, it has gasoline in its 'veins'.
P. Jack is also the only Jack robot that has competed in more than one canonical tournament in the Tekken universe, although there is a large difference between its appearance in Tekken and Tekken 2.
Unlike the other earlier Jack models, Prototype Jack is fitted with a rocket booster built into its leg. P. Jack's internal support system can provide up to three "detonations" to the booster.
P. Jack's arm and body are somewhat "loose", as it can spin its hand freely without limitation. This trait has remained unchanged since the first game, when a drill was present in place of its right hand.
Tekken 2
If P.Jack loses a final round in Tekken 2 due to Time Up, it will faint on the continue screen in the same manner as a losing character on Time Up in the original Tekken. This animation also occurs in Tekken Tag Tournament even without a Time Up, and is also used by Roger and Alex in both games.
Tekken Tag Tournament
As of Tekken Tag Tournament, it is shown that P. Jack's left hand and torso can also rotate, as seen in its moves Drill Upper and Tornado Cutter. Gun Jack also retained the spinning hand mechanism when performing the Ground Zero throw; however later models, such as Jack-5, do not have a spinning hand during this move.
Tekken Tag Tournament 2
If Prototype Jack is idle for about six seconds, it will shut down and reboot itself.
Prototype Jack's Tekken Tag Tournament 2 ending is a re-imagining of its Tekken 2 ending.
Prototype Jack, along with Jack-2, Gun Jack, Jaack-4, and Jack-6 are the only Jack robots to appear in more than one game.
Prototype Jack's Item Move has it grab the opponent with a crane and uses it to spin them around before launching them away. This can also be used against mid-air opponents.

Welcome to the Ultimate Sword Showdown...Rematch!
In this tournament, we'll have 64 swords compete to see which is the true winner. This is the second iteration of this tournament, so there are some new rules.
New Contestants
New competitors will be chosen in the exact same way as before. I will personally sort through the list of submissions and choose a list of swords I think look or sound the coolest or most interesting. This means that receiving a high number of submissions will not guarantee any sword's spot in this tournament, although a high volume of submissions for one sword may draw my attention towards it where I had ignored it before.
Speaking of ignoring submissions, if you submitted a sword last time and it did not make it into the tournament, you may try submitting it again and you may have better luck this time. I will try to pay special attention to swords I glossed over last time. I will also of course be looking at swords that were not submitted last time.
Returning Contestants
Any sword that did not make it past Round 1 in the initial iteration of this tournament will be eligible for resubmission, and I will try to match it up with a competitor against whom it might stand a better chance. This means that a total of 32 original contestants may try their hand again. I have removed the barrier for entry, and any returning sword that receives even one submission will be automatically included.
A list of the swords eligible for resubmission, as well as a list of all swords disqualified from this tournament due to making it past round 1 last time, is under the cut.
Guide to the Form
Name of sword (e.g. Sting, Excalibur, Ghirahim). If the sword does not have a name, put N/A or something similar and be sure to put extra descriptions of which sword you are talking about in the other boxes.
Series of origin (e.g. Lord of the Rings, Arthurian legends, The Legend of Zelda).
Wielder (e.g. Bilbo/Frodo Baggins, King Arthur, Demise). If the sword is from a video game and is wielded by, say, both a boss and later the player character, specify the boss over the player. If the sword has two primary wielders list both. If the sword is wielded by a family line or something similar, specify the group as a whole. If the sword has too many wielders to list, put "many" and describe in the box below. If the sword has no primary wielders, put "none" or leave the box blank.
Describe the sword. This is where you get to gush about all the details. If there is no picture provided you can describe it physically, but also describe the ways it's been used, if it has any special powers, its personality if it is sentient, and anything else you think might be important to know. This is what will draw my interest the most!
Write up a description to be used in the tournament or provide me informational sources (new!). This box can be used to help me out in any way with putting the tournament together. You can write up a short but informative description that will be included under the polls in the same style as the ones I wrote for the last tournament. Alternatively, if you have a particularly informative wiki link, tumblr post, or any other source you recommend I pull information from, you can place it here as well. Anything helps!
Include a picture of the sword. Paste a link to a picture you'd like me to use for the tournament. You can also paste multiple links, with pictures of swords by themselves or while wielded. You can also link gifs you'd like me to include. I may include multiple pictures for more swords this time around than I did last time.
Notes about submitting swords:
I am hoping the definition of a sword is obvious, but a sword should have a hilt and a blade that is longer than the hilt. Daggers and spears do not qualify.
Any type of sword counts--everything from shortswords to broadswords to katanas.
Swords from books count.
The keyblades from Kingdom Hearts are...close enough.
Dual-wielded swords or identical swords in a set can be submitted together. More than like...four swords that are all distinct from one another should be counted as separate swords.
Sentient swords count.
Characters who transform into swords are allowed so long as that is their main gimmick (i.e. a character who transforms into a sword once in episode 30 and never again is not truly a sword).
You can submit as many swords from the same media as you would like (in separate submissions), but I will only include a maximum of three swords per IP in the final tournament.
The form can be found below.
Structure of the Tournament
The form will be open until December 12th. I will warn you 3 hours before I close the form. After the form is closed, I will begin working on the bracket and should have it up within a couple days of closing the form.
As before, I will be writing up a brief description for every sword. This will be pulled from a combination of the information I received through submissions, and whatever I can find on online wikis. However, a new addition to the tournament is that after I have gathered images and written up descriptions, but before the tournament starts, I will release a full list of descriptions and images, and there will be a ~3 day buffer before the tournament starts for you all to look over my work and correct anything I may have messed up--spelling a major character's name wrong, a mistake in the information, a picture of the wrong sword, etc. (all things that happened after the polls went up during the last run of this tournament). During this time I will also allow you to submit your own description, if you think you can write a better one. You can submit a description to me in the replies or reblogs of the post, through the askbox, or through DMs. Please specify what it's for. I will also post this new description for others to verify that your information is correct. Perhaps with thorough peer review, we can completely eliminate misinformation. *flexing arm emoji*
After this ~3 day period, the polls will be finalized and Round 1 will begin shortly after. All polls will run for 24 hours, except for the final one which will run for one week.
Rules
You can submit as many different swords as you like.
Please do not spam the submission form. As described above this will do nothing for you. Additionally, I use submission numbers to help me seed the bracket. Please don't screw up my seeding. Just...don't.
Propaganda is allowed and encouraged! Send it through reblogs, asks, or a separate post. Be sure to tag me in your posts, and if reblogging, add a tag like "propaganda" or something to let me know you want me to reblog it.
Please be civil to your host and to your fellow voters. If toxicity becomes an issue I may have to disqualify competitors from the tournament. Do not make me do this.
Also, please be respectful of me and my decisions. I am only one host and I cannot be perfect all the time, but I will try to make decisions that are fair. If you have complaints, please make them civilly. This was not an issue last time, but it bears mentioning again. People can be ruthless on their silly little social media blorbo polls.
Miscellaneous
Mod goes by The Bladesmith.
Original tournament masterpost
I have no idea what tournaments are still active these days, so I won't tag anyone this time. If any tournament hosts happen to see this, I hope you will help a fellow host out and signal boost this for me. It would also help for non-hosts to reblog if you would be so kind. *smily face*

Okay!!! So I’ll give everyone a few hours to recover from all of that and wait until tomorrow (April 1st, sorry guys no prank here just a queer battle) to post the final round Gideon Nav vs Ianthe Tridentarius vs Eric Bittle
This will last one week so everyone has plenty of time to get their votes in for the final winner and then we’ll start the bonus polls which so far consist of: The Great Gideon Face Off (a battle for the ultimate Gideon since we had like three submitted to the tournament), The Simon Showdown (same thing but for Simons), Blonde Short King Queer Jock Battle (Andrew vs Bitty, no one asked for this I just think it would be fun so I’m doing it), The Ultimate Round Four Divorcee Loser (Ronan vs Harrow), and since it doesn’t seem they will do battle in the main tournament The Ultimate Round Four Divorcee Winner (Adam vs Gideon), Crow Divorce Challenge (Jesper vs Wylan), Fox Divorce Fight (Andrew vs Neil), Bone Girl Battle (Nina vs Harrow vs Nona), Carry On My Wayward Son (Kade vs Jack vs Nancy), International Incident (Henry vs Alex), Time Traveled To Legal Marriage and Divorce (Jane vs August), Into The McQuistonverse (all submitted Casey McQuiston characters throwing down), War of Hearts (Magnus vs Alec), Ari/Arati Third Try: Divorce Addition (Ari/Arati vs Anna), Divorce Is Buy One Get One (Kieran vs Mark vs Cristina), Shadow Hunter Show Down (Helen vs Aline), Magnet Clicking OUT Of Place (Kit vs Ty), Wake Me Up Inside (Jordan vs Hennessy)
I’m open to more ideas for bonus rounds but that’s what’s slotted in the meantime!

Much has already been said about the Live Action adaptation, but I'm adding in my thoughts because I'm in a meeting that I don't really care at all about, and I'm on a YYH brain rot. 💖
Overall, I like it for what it is: an interesting retelling of Yuyu Hakusho. I didn't find the CGIs too distracting, the color grading feels nostalgic, the fight choreography is very on point, I immediately took to all the actors and felt that they delivered, and I could see the care in the little details like lines and sequences that they picked from the Manga and some few from the anime. The first two episodes is good and hooks you in, but the latter episodes suffered from the pacing. I'd compare it to having a 5-course meal, with the last 3 courses being fed to you in succession. And because the show was busy feeding you plot points it forgets emotional resonance. With better pacing, I think this would have been better. That said, I'd give this a 7/10.
I have other thoughts but if anyone cares, maybe it will be nice to talk about this LA or just YYH in general. 😊
Tumblr media
MORE SPOILER HEAVY THOUGHTS UNDER THE CUT! (will be edited as more thoughts come along) 👉🏼 💥
👉🏼 I recognize that I may be an outlier here, but I feel that by combining the first four arcs, it makes the story more cohesive. It hits on the necessary plot points to get to the climax of YYH - finding out about the corruption of the spirit world. Paced appropriately this probably would have Toguro as the red herring big bad of the show but ultimately have it all lead to Sensui.
👉🏼 And also budget. And more episodes.
👉🏼 While I was sad over not having the Dark Tournament I sat with it for awhile and realized that it's fine. If granted a few more seasons, the 3 Kings Arc can have this handled (then maybe it might not feel so empty, lol)
👉🏼 The pacing really took a lot from the emotional pay-off in the last two episodes. I want more interactions! Esp between the four. Yusuke and Kuwabara really had a good rapport. It's nice to know the actors became close with each other IRL too.
👉🏼 Keiko and Yukina interacting is so endearing to me. ❤️
👉🏼 IDC what anyone says Botan's outfit is fucking beautiful. Those piercings and peep toe boots? Amazing.
👉🏼 Although I have to say that some of the outfits (esp the ones in the Casino at Ep. 1) feel weird and make it hard to place this adaptation.
👉🏼 I love that, even though we don't get a lot of interactions between Yusuke and Keiko, the Live Action highlights gets the core of their relationship. More than just Yusuke's childhood friend and voice of reason, Keiko is his moral compass and sees him for who he is.
👉🏼 MAN MEIKO KAIJI FOR ONE EPISODE CMON. 😭 But that just tells me that this adaptation might have ultimately edited certain parts or re wrote the script to cut the train arc so early because of budgetary constraints. You can't convince me that they had Lady Snowblood only to utilize her for a short time.
👉🏼 Dat Smile Bomb Easter egg really hit me in my kokoro. 💖

the results of the king's name day tournament, consisting of a joust, melee, and archery contest.
all of the results were randomized using a wheel, i filled out the prompts first and plugged in whatever the wheel gave ! ** possible injuries and battle specifics can be changed or added on, whatever you wish to do as long as it doesn't change the results ! anything can happen in these competitions so feel free to elaborate and fill in the gaps !
the archery competition.
many participants are defeated at short ranges, with thyra hornwood among the losses but certainly not one of the firsts.
as the paces grow, many more participants fall short of the target, with odette allyrion included in the list of names.
the final four include vysena caron, darliessa westerling, selira mallister and alina lannister. up until around 60 paces, all participants are neck and neck with who will send their arrow directly into the bullseye. the next round sees vysena caron fall shortest of the mark and out of the competition.
participants begin to push a hundred paces when darliessa westerling joins the list of defeats.
the final two, selira mallister and alina lannister, face off before alina lannister scores the closest target, declaring them the winner of the archery competition !
winner : alina lannister.
the melee competition.
the longest competition is by far the melee, with the fighting going on for around two hours. many of the participants end up facing defeat within the first hour due to pure exhaustion, one of them being darliessa westerling.
many alliances are made throughout the fight, though almost all turn on each other as the time goes on. one of the most successful duos to pair up, brandon hornwood and wyllam tarly, manage to defeat artys royce together. by the time both brandon and wyllam have fought through other participants, they're back facing each other, with wyllam tarly meeting defeat.
there is a long one on one match between lucifer yronwood and darron dayne that captures the king's attention for quite some time, so much so that other onlookers cared more for their fight than anyone else's. their's came to an end with lucifer yronwood becoming another one of the defeated participants.
at one point near the end of the first hour, one of the newly-made squires uses the last of his energy to charge at a couple of the fighters, managing to knock over brandon hornwood in the process. the lord is injured in doing so and therefore becomes another loss on the roster.
one after another sinks further into the muddied ground, some toppling over and declaring themselves defeated while others take much more to accept they're out of the competition. iravan goodbrother is one many have had their eyes on and whether it be a momentary slip up or a good opponent, he too is next to join the sidelines.
the last two standing appear to be darron dayne and calon greyjoy. they're fighting one on one when a third participant rises from where they'd slipped in the mud. blindsided, he's able to split them up and defeat one of them - but not before the other can come out on top. the last fighter standing is calon greyjoy... which recieves a few gasps from the audience when the lord's name is announced.
winner : calon greyjoy.
the jousting competition.
the first two opponents to face off are uthor hightower and lucifer yronwood. after a good effort from both participants, it's ultimately won by uthor hightower.
there are two participants afterwards who both go up against uthor hightower, a lord from a vassal house in the vale and a liege from a vassal house in the riverlands. the hightower lord is successful in both matches, moving onto the next round.
uthor then faces off against wyllam tarly. another great effort is given by the tarly lord and by now the audience is at the edge of their seat, wanting to see if someone will finally knock the lord hightower off his horse. they don't see that within the current match, though, and wyllam tarly is knocked from his horse instead.
the next match is the current lead, uthor hightower, and his opponent, darliessa westerling. there are many close calls and one instance of a tilted lance making contact but barely having affect. in the end, though many would have loved to see either outcome, uthor hightower is given the match victory after three tilts.
by the semi finals, darron dayne is the next one to take on the hightower lord, many still reeling from his loss in the melee competition - by this point, both lords have many bets on them from the audience. their match takes longer than desired, anticipation enough to be an opponent itself, ending in a turn of events with darron dayne knocking uthor hightower off their horse.
the final match opponents are darron dayne and steffon tarth, after the lord tarth's victory over a hedge knight in a previous round. they both fight a valiant effort but in the end, lord tarth's lance shatters against the lord dayne's shield and throws him off his horse, making darron dayne the winner and champion of the jousting competition, as well as the one who gets to crown the queen of love and beauty !
winner : darron dayne.
thank you to those who participated and hope you enjoyed the tournament !

Chess: A Game of Strategy and Skill
Tumblr media
Introduction to Chess
What is chess?
Chess is a two-player board game played on a checkered gameboard with 64 squares arranged in an 8x8 grid. Each player begins with sixteen pieces: one king, one queen, two rooks, two knights, two bishops, and eight pawns.
Brief history of chess
The origins of chess can be traced back to ancient India, where it was known as "chaturanga." Over time, the game spread to Persia, Arabia, and Europe, evolving into the modern version we know today.
Basic Rules of Chess
Setup of the chessboard
The chessboard is set up with each player's pieces placed on opposite sides. The board is oriented so that each player has a white square at the right-hand corner.
Movement of pieces
Each type of chess piece has its own unique way of moving across the board. For example, the knight moves in an L-shape, while the bishop moves diagonally. The objective of the game is to checkmate the opponent's king, putting it in a position where it cannot escape capture.
Objective of the game
The ultimate goal in chess is to checkmate your opponent's king, putting it in a position where it is under attack and cannot move to any unoccupied square without being captured.
Importance of Strategy in Chess
Importance of planning ahead
In chess, strategic thinking is essential for success. Players must anticipate their opponent's moves and plan their own strategy accordingly.
Tactics vs. strategy

With the hype for Tekken 8 reaching its climax as the game is about to be released, I feel like this might be a good time to fill in new players with the core lore of the series! Tekken 8 does feature short summaries of the events leading up to Tekken 8, but I feel like it's not enough if you're truly new to the series and have no idea what's going on so I will attempt to fill you guys in!
The background to the series proper is that Heihachi Mishima, son of Jinpachi Mishima, a legendary martial artist and founder of a multinational conglomerate called the Mishima Zaibatsu, is forced to kill his wife, Kazumi Mishima, after a demonic power awakens in her and she attempts to kill him, Heihachi then proceeded to throw his son, five year old Kazuya, off a cliff in an attempt to check if Kazumi's demonic power had passed on to him. He then proceeds to usurp the Mishima Zaibatsu from his father.
youtube
Years later, Heihachi decides to host a martial arts tournament, The King of Iron Fist Tournament, as a means for him to show off his martial prowess and get to fight against strong opponents from around the world. He is surprised to see that Kazuya not only survived, but also defeated him with his own demonic powers and proceeded to throw him off the same cliff to exact his revenge, inheriting the Mishima Zaibatsu and all its power.
youtube
Kazuya proved to be even more power hungry and ruthless than his father, and proceeded to wreak terror all across the world. Like his father, Kazuya decided to host a second King of Iron Fist Tournament to demonstrate his might. Amongst the combatants was Jun Kazama, a woman with very strong spiritual affinity. Their meeting led to her becoming pregnant. Heihachi was also revealed to have survived and he proceeded to defeat his son, this time throwing him in an active volcano to make sure that he would never be able to return. Jun withdraws to a quiet cabin in the woods, where she raises her son, Jin.
youtube
After reclaiming the Zaibatsu, Heihachi began researching an ancient Aztec myth about a super powerful being sealed within an Aztec temple, once worshipped as a god of war. He believes that if he fuses the being's DNA with his, he will be able to attain ultimate power. Around the same time, to aid him in his search for the Aztec temple, he created the Tekken Force, an elite squad of mercenaries employed by the Mishima Zaibatsu. The Tekken Force did succeed in locating the temple, but the demon inside could not be controlled and proceeded to go on a rampage across the world, killing various powerful martial artists. Jun sensed the being's immense power, and decided to tell Jin that Heihachi Mishima is his grandfather, and that should something happen to her, he should seek him out. Jun's hunch was right, as the demon did come for her, sensing her immense spiritual power. Jin tried to help her out but he was knocked unconscious, and when he woke up his mother was nowhere to be seen and presumed dead. He honoured her wishes and found Heihachi. Heihachi believed that if he hosted another Iron Fist Tournament, the gathering of powerful fighters would perhaps entice the Aztec god to reappear, and he believed that Jin might be the one to do so. Jin had swore to defeat the demon no matter the cost, and so he agreed to put up with Heihachi's torturous training regimen. The demon did appear, and Jin did kill him, but Heihachi proceeded to shoot Jin in the head afterwards, as he had overcome his usefulness and Heihachi also feared he might become a threat if left unchecked. What he didn't take into account, is that Kazuya's cursed demon powers had been inherited by Jin, who, after experiencing an event that would have been fatal for any normal human being, reawakened as a demon, knocking Heihachi out and then disappearing.
youtube
This new development led Heihachi to want to obtain Jin's power for himself. Jin fled to Australia where he trained for two years, undergoing a process of relearning the karate style his mother had taught him, and abandoning the Mishima style karate Heihachi had him learn for years. Meanwhile, a new powerhouse conglomerate seemingly appears out of nowhere. G Corporation somehow obtained Kazuya Mishima's burnt remains from the volcano and actually succeeded in recreating a new body for him. Horrified at this revelation, Heihachi decides to announce a fourth Tournament, in hopes of luring in both Kazuya and Jin, and defeating them once and for all in the process. Kazuya is about to fight Heihachi in the Hon Maru, a temple owned by the Mishima estate, but Jin meets and defeats his father for the first time instead and then proceeds to defeat his grandfather as well. His inner demon overtakes him and he's about to kill his grandfather, but a vision of his mother leads him to simply knock him out instead.
youtube
Moments after their fight with Jin, Kazuya and Heihachi are ambushed by JACK robots, who are at that point owned and developed by G Corporation, who has betrayed Kazuya and is attempting to kill both him and Heihachi. They briefly tag team the robots, but Kazuya ultimately betrays Heihachi and leaves him for dead as one of the robots self-destructs and blows the whole temple away while Kazuya escapes. Unbeknownst to everyone, beneath the Hon Maru, Jinpachi Mishima was imprisoned for decades after Heihachi defeated him and usurped the Zaibatsu. He was meanwhile possessed by a demonic entity, separate from the one inherent in Kazuya and Jin's blood, and waited for a chance to exact revenge. Heihachi is presumed dead after the explosion, and Jinpachi secretly takes back the Zaibatsu in his son's absence and announces a new King of Iron Fist Tournament, fuelled by the demon's lust for fighting powerful foes. In the end it is Jin who defeats his great grandfather and takes control of the Zaibatsu.
youtube
At this point Jin concocts a very convoluted plan to rid the world of the demonic power that he and his father possess. He learns of an ancient Egyptian god that exists to act as a preventative measure against humanity if they become too destructive for their own good. He thinks that if he kills his father and then he is killed together with Azazel then the world can know peace. To summon Azazel however, he needs to create vast amounts of negative emotions around the world so, with the might of the Mishima Zaibatsu, he launches an attack against the entirety of the world at once. Kazuya, who was busy killing the G Corporation executives who previously tried to take him and Heihachi out, has now taken control of the G Corporation and cleverly positions himself as a saviour against the Mishima Zaibatsu's war, which is of course just a ruse to get to fight his son. Meanwhile, Lars Alexandersson, Heihachi's illegitimate son and a high-ranking Tekken Force officer, questions the morality of fighting in a war against the entire world, and forms a separatist group from the main Tekken Force called Yggdrasil. He gets knocked pretty hard on his head though while raiding a Mishima Zaibatsu lab which causes him to suffer from amnesia. After he wakes up he is joined by an android, Alisa Bosconovitch who was being housed at said lab, and together they escape from the Tekken Force, basically going on a road trip in an attempt to help Lars regain his memories. He eventually faces of against his father Heihachi, who is alive and training in a secluded mansion in the woods to defeat Jin and Kazuya. The fight against his father causes Lars to regain his memories, revealing to him that he was indeed his son. See, Heihachi wanted to test if he was also a carrier of the cursed blood, hence why he trapped Jinpachi, to see if his own "devil gene" would awaken, but we already established that Jinpachi was possessed by a demonic spirit unrelated to the cursed blood. While waiting for Jinpachi to die and be possessed, he also fathered Lars while on a Tekken Force expedition in Scandinavia to test if he would possess the same power but after realising he did not he disregarded Lars' entire existence. Lars may not have the devil Jin, but he does exude the same electricity from his fists as Heihachi, Kazuya, Jin and even Jinpachi and Kazumi all do, a telltale sign of Mishima blood or combat training (since Kazumi Is not related by blood to Jinpachi or Heihachi but was still taught by and alongside them respectively) He proceeds to meet Lee Chaolan, adopted son of Heihachi Mishima and head of Violet Systems, a robotics company that will hereby act as Lars, Alisa and Lee's basw of operations. Lee fills him in on Kazuya's true intentions and the Mishima Family feud. Lars proceeds to face off against both his half brother and nephew, and witnesses Jin successfully resurrecting and fighting Azazel. After learning of Jin's true plan to "save the world" from Jin's second in command, Nina Williams, he attempts to find Jin. The United Nations get to him first, but he goes on a devil induced rampage and gets lost in the desert.
youtube
Meanwhile, Heihachi reclaims the Zaibatsu from Nina in Jin's absence and decides to once against host a tournament to lure Kazuya out... you know the drill by now. He simultaneously manages to locate a comatose Jin, but Lars and his group manage to secure Jin instead. Heihachi and Kazuya's seemingly neverending battle reaches a climax, as Kazuya is able to defeat his father and, yes, throw him in that same volcano he had thrown him in all those years ago. With the Zaibatsu defeated, Kazuya now publicly presents his true demonic form to the world and it's now his time to declare war against it. Around the same time Jin wakes up from him coma and is now working with Lars, Lee and Alisa to take down Kazuya, who has reached the peak of his power, and with Jin carrying the same power, he's the only one who can stop him.
youtube
And there you have it guys! You're all set up for Tekken 8! Do take note that this obviously leaves out tons of lore for a huge portion of the cast, but the main story is mainly focused on the Mishima feud so that's why. If you're vibing with any other characters be assured that they have tons of lore of their own and a personal stake to fight for. Yes, even the bears, for better or worse!
Furthermore, the story has been retconned at various points, for example, although we knew of Kazumi's name ever since as early as Tekken 2, her possessing the devil gene was a plotline added in Tekken 7 which, in turn completely invalidates Lars sole reason for existing and Jinpachi's imprisonment as Heihachi should have very clearly known that it was not him that had the gene but Kazumi... Also, before Jinpachi's appearance the concept of the devil gene was not a thing and it was simply the Devil himself as a separate entity appearing before a dying Kazuya and enticing him with the power to exact revenge and then possessing Jin after Jun no longer being there to protect him against the devil. So yeah, the story does have a few elements of "making it up as we go along" but hey! It's won a Guinness record for longest ongoing story in gaming so that's something!

Virat Kohli's Explosive 92 Keeps RCB Alive in Playoff Race
Synopsis: Virat Kohli’s blistering knock of 92 off 47 balls propelled RCB to victory against PBKS, keeping their playoff hopes alive in the IPL.
Tumblr media
Virat Kohli’s Mastery:
In a thrilling encounter, Virat Kohli showcased his brilliance with a commanding innings of 92 runs off just 47 deliveries, steering RCB to a formidable total of 241/7 against PBKS. Despite being dropped twice, Kohli capitalized on the chances, adopting an aggressive approach that left the opposition struggling to contain him.
Punjab’s Missed Opportunities:
Punjab Kings’ decision to omit key bowlers and their lapses in fielding proved costly as they failed to capitalize on crucial moments in the game. Dropping catches and conceding easy runs allowed Kohli to dominate proceedings, setting the stage for RCB’s commanding victory.
Rajat Patidar’s Contribution:
Alongside Kohli, Rajat Patidar played a crucial role in RCB’s batting onslaught, contributing a valuable 55 runs to the team’s total. His aggressive approach and ability to capitalize on scoring opportunities added depth to RCB’s batting lineup, emphasizing their strength as a formidable unit.
PBKS’s Struggles:
PBKS faced an uphill battle from the start, with their decision to drop key players and their inconsistent performance with the bat undermining their chances of victory. Despite brief contributions from Jonny Bairstow and Rilee Rossouw, PBKS faltered in their chase, ultimately falling short by 60 runs.
Looking Ahead:
With this victory, RCB remains in contention for a playoff spot, highlighting their determination to succeed in the IPL. As the tournament progresses, fans can expect more thrilling encounters as teams vie for supremacy on the cricketing stage.

2023 Dreamworks Film Tournament!
In between the end of this years tournament and the beginning of next years (very short) tournament, I'm running a Dreamworks poll! I might do this yearly too; we'll see. Films and dates under the cut.
The film has to be on this list as a feature film, and will include direct-to-video and streaming releases. The films will compete in 4 year increments (Dreamworks is younger and has less films, so it would be less fun to just do by the decade).
I will not be including Illumination films, although if you guys are interested in a separate poll for that, Imk! I would try and do that in 2024 though, just because Migration (2023) comes out very late in the year.
Winners of the 4 year groupings will be bolded & have a moon emoji next to them. The ultimate winner will be bolded, green & have a moon emoji.
I will hold a poll in 2024 to determine a winner considering the new movies. This will repeat over the years if I remember to run this poll.
