Hero Form Appearance: As a Proto Hero, his outfit is more akin to an armored soldier. The battle suit is mainly a solid white with a pale yellow hue, and with a chestplate, armored gloves and shoulder pads, armored knee pads, a visor, and horns on the headwear to show that he is the commander. His ranking is 01 (To show that he is the commander). Throughout the armor, there are subtle patterns of the gorse flower. (Jiren’s Quest)/An outfit that’s now worthy of a true hero, with there being a solid black undersuit to really make the bright yellow pop. The main outfit is a solid yellow, with there being an ombre that fades to a crimson red near the tailcoat, lower half of the sleeves, and the lower half of the pants. The accent colors are white, black, gray, gold, silver, and hints of bronze. The boots, shoulder pads, belt, and knee pads now have subtle patterns themed around the gorse, and the only other accessory is a gorse themed brooch that he wears in the center of his chest. Amon Rûdh was a hill Southwest of the River Teglin where the house of Mîm the dwarf became the base of operations for Túrin, Beleg and the group of outlaws he had joined. For nearly a year they worked to fight the forces of Morgoth and the area became known as Dor Cúrathol, The Land of Bow and Helm

In The Children of Húrin we are given some fairly detailed descriptions of Amon Rûdh and the house of Mîm as well as the surrounding flora.

Two species names are specific to Tolkien’s world though based on the description and location as well as likening to real species, we have a good idea what these flowers were or were based on. These are aeglos or snowthorn and seregon, the flowers of blood. Both of these species are only ever mentioned in connection to Amon Rûdh though the genuses and families they were based on, gorse and stonecrop, appear throughout the legendarium. 

Aeglos

Beyond, upon the moors and about the lower slopes of Amon Rûdh there grew thickets of Aeglos 

Aeglos was related to the modern genus ulex or gorse, a genus of evergreen shrubs with thorns in the pea family. It’s name translated directly to point of snow but was usually read as snow thorn. The only mention of it in the legendarium is in The Children of Húrin where it grows on the sides of Amon Rûdh and the surrounding moors. 

It was described as a tall and thorny shrub with sweet smelling white flowers. The thickets guard the opening to the home of Mîm. 

Aeglos is also the name of the spear of Gil-Galad. 

Gorse grows throughout Western Europe through Northwest Africa and to the Iberian peninsula. 

Gorse is also referenced as a species in both The Silmarillion and The Lord of the Rings, in this case likely referring to common gorse, a yellow flowering plant (picture here). It’s also sometimes called whin. 

Seregon

But it’s steep grey head was bare save for the red seregon that mantled the stone 

As the men of Túrin’s band drew near, the sun westering broke through the clouds and fell upon the crown and the seregon was all in flower. Then one among them said “There is blood on the hill top”

Seregon grows atop Amon Rûdh, covering the hill in small flowers the color of blood which of course is foreshadowing for the massacre that will later occur there.

Seregon was described as like stonecrop. Stonecrop or sedum is a large genus of flowering plants in the orpine family (which is also called the stonecrop family). The family is notable for a rare method of photosynthesis called Crassulacean acid metabolism. This involves a unique cycle of chemical reaction between night and day.

Many species grow on rock faces or within crevices. Seregon was the only plant atop Amon Rûdh though there are multiple species described on the slopes and base of the hill including rowan, silver birch and thorny trees, possibly an acadia species.

Similar flowers for reference might be Mexican stonecrop, English stonecrop, or Widow’s Cross (Sedum pulchellum). Unlike these however, the flowers of Seregon are a deep, blood red. 

Stonecrop is also notable in the legendarium for being the flower that blooms at the crown of the stone king in The Lord of the Rings.

Did J.G. call himself Ulex sometimes? Or sign letters with "Ulex" or something like that? Is it true? And if so, why? Was there a meaning behind it and what was it?

Yes. Joseph sometimes used the pseudonym “Ulrich Ulex” when signing personal letters or correspondence. He began using it around the 1920s, though he eventually abandoned it as his political prominence grew. The origin of “Ulex” is not fully understood, but it’s thought to have been a personal or literary choice, likely intended to add an intellectual or mysterious flair to his early writings and correspondence. The name “Ulex” may have held symbolic value, given that Joseph was interested in presenting himself as an intellectual. However, beyond its use as a pseudonym, there’s no clear evidence that it had any deeper or widely recognized significance. It reflects his penchant for constructing alternate personas, something that was not uncommon among public figures of the time who wished to separate their personal and professional lives. well. i found a TREASURE TROVE worth of info for maple's parents. um. gonna put it all under the cut bc this is genuinely a lot of info.

Venus Cayleb Costa Dias and Ulex Antonio Ramos Vargas are rangers, both of which trained together on vulgrado and have been partners since they first got into ranger school. venus was later transferred to paldea on request when maple got into narauva. venus was also selected to join the experimental area zero ranger force, training and preparing for much of his time in paldea, as well as spending quite a bit of time in and out of the crater to get used to the dangerous environment until the program officially launched fulltime after briar's expedition into the depths almost a year ago. he has an umbreon and glaceon, as well as two garchomp, a corviknight, and a gogoat. venus also has a strong preferance for flabebe, and has an anonymous blog dedicated to talking about them that he posts on occasionally in his (nowadays very sparce) free time. this is likely related to him growing up with a family that owned massive florges gardens and bred the pokemon. venus has 1 sibling

ulex on the other hand is a more standard ranger. he is permitted to use a capture styler when needed, and has an espeon and leafeon. he grew up on a farm in vulgrado, and is overal quite plain. he is very much the straight man to the 3 insane people in this 4 person polycule. he also has 2 siblings

nettle is a neurosurgeon. he has no contact with any of his family, and its unclear if nettle carina maletta is actually his name. it may be a fake name and identity, as there is very little record of his existence until his 18th birthday. he has a comfey and a meganium.

Ivelyne "Ivy" Arai is the severe freak here. heir to the Union of the Hounds, she is the oldest of 3 triplets. when she turned 19, ivy disappeared and was classified as a missing person for several years until she was found at age 27. from what can be discerned, though she was living with a fake name, she had legally identified maple has her kid under her real name, allowing her family to find her through finding out about maple first. in regards to maples birth, ivy is known to have been diagnosed with severe postpartum depression and psychosis, as well as persisting mental health issues that led to her being committed to a psych ward for several months after her being found. in the years since, she has gotten much better, and has continued her practice as a therapist. she has a houndoom, runerigus, haxorus, aggron, beheeyem, and vivillon. the runerigus is referred to by maple as their uncle, and ivy is known to admit it is a dead childhood friend of hers, but has not identified whos ghost exactly.

Bio: Kahseral is a cyborg warrior and general of the Pride Troopers in Universe 11 who participates in the Tournament of Power. He is also the pilot of the Pride Troopers Spaceship. Kahseral is extremely kind and treats the Proto Heroes all with the same treatment. When he speaks, it is always in earnest. Jiren states he feels regret just coming back with the other Proto Heroes coming back bleeding and with injuries. He does anything to be able to help his fellow Proto Heroes. Despite knowing the truth about the state of the cosmos beyond existence, having a strict attitude, and being trained in combat to uphold justice, he’s never lost his gentle spirit and genuinely trusts in the EverTree- and mortals. And even when the Proto Heroes ascend to true Heroes, he STILL stands by them (And in turn becomes one)!!
