Hey, I am like, the UK's number 1 Slipknot fan, and have always wanted to know, what inspired your mask design?

Matthew Fulton- 14

MICK: Nothing. I had my original latex hockey mask way back and then my leather one and I was using those designs and it morphed into what it is now. There isn’t something crazy creative about it.

Hey Mick! I just want to let you know that you are a huge inspiration to me. You were one of the reasons I picked up a guitar, B.C Rich 7 string Warlock as my own first purchase, and got serious about it. My question is, how do you get new ideas for riffs and solos. I've made a couple of my own songs, but I always get stuck trying to make cool catchy riffs or solos. Got any advice?

Jim- 16

MICK: Yes. Don’t over-think it. Just let it happen. Things come out. If you try and plan or force it will sound forced or dishonest. I never try and over-think a direction whatever comes out 1st time I play it comes out. I never spend a ton of time thinking because it sounds forced. If you spend too much time thinking about it, it won’t sound like you. Don’t try and sound like someone else.

How does it feel to be getting back to work with the rest of Slipknot after a 3 year hiatus? Did it feel great knowing you were going to be back behind the mask and in a recording studio once again or was it just the same as it was 3 years ago?

MICK: Things are always different when doing a new record. You are a different person than you were years ago. I don’t think in those terms. I just do what I do! But yes it felt good getting back to work.

What has been your scariest nightmare?

MICK: I wouldn’t say I have had a scariest nightmare but it would probably be something that deals with me not having genitals anymore…

If you could play any other role except Rythym/Lead guitarist in the band which would it be?

What was the biggest culture shock you experienced in a foreign country during SK a tour?

MICK: Being forced to shit into an ornate porcelain hole in the ground in Japan. OR having a warm stream of water tickle my asshole from the bidet in my hotel, also in Japan.

Mick, what advice would u give to young metal musicians trying to get our band noticed without reverting to the typical main stream sound?

Alex Munro- 16

MICK: Music should be honest, it should be an extension if you. You shouldn’t try and achieve a sound. It should just be you and not what you are trying to manufacture. We didn’t pay attention to the trends at the time when we wrote. We did what we felt and that is what you should do. You should play music for you and not to be noticed.

I'm Marina. OK I know that you probably get this question asked a lot by fan-girls but are you single, and can i ask u out on a date if you are :) ?

Hi Mick! What Pedals do you use for Before I Forget and Heretic Anthem, and what Guitar would you recommend for a O.K Metal player at good price (like below $400)?

MICK: I don’t use pedals on either one of those songs or any pedals of any kind. But if its distortion you are referring to I just have a tube head turned up loud. There isn’t one really so buy used. You can’t get anything new that price worth anything. Look at pawn shops and buy a decent used early to late 90’s Ibanez especially an RG 570.

Hi, sorry if this is weird but I'm saw in your bio that your a tattoo artist but I found your account theough some cult of the lamb art (it looks cool af) and I've been planning to do illustration and animation at unj but I've also been considering a tattoo artist apprenticeship after i finish that msybe? could you possibly tell me what irs like as an apprentice and if you think I could do my courses at uni and then do an apprenticeship after? I've really been struggling considering my choices and if you had any advice or information about being a tattoo artist weather its on an apprenticeship or actually as a career I would really appreciate it if you had any information for me! I'm so sorry if this is weird and of course you dont have to tell me anything if you don't want to or am uncomfortable too but I'm really curious and with no other sources 😭 (also finding your account may just be like my idol and inspiration while I struggle through school and what I do in the future 😭❤️)

That took me a while to answer because I never feel experienced enough to advise people 😭 Or maybe I should say - I don't feel in a position to advise because, as I once said, I'm mostly a self-taught working at home studio (now almost in my own art workshop with my fiancée) and I don't have much experience working in typical tattoo studio and with other tattoo artists. But I'll try my best ✨

There're many differences between apprenticeship in different countries (and tattooing in general) for example - Poland has one of the lowest price list in Europe but still a lot of people can't afford tattoos. Or that in UK being a tattoo apprentice is a long process. I know for sure that a lot of tattoo artists I know struggle with number of clients compared to previous years. And it won't change for a long time for sure because of inflation. So if you want to start tattooing you need to know that you won't earn much money for a year at least (as I said- it might looks different in another countries)

Also as a tattoo artist (even as a apprentice) you still need to take care of your social media which sometimes can be exhausting and depressing. And I'm telling all of this because I know that you probably won't find this kind of information on other tattoo artists' profiles (unfortunately strategy "look how my life is perfect" works for social media and for getting clients)

But on the brighter side - being a tattoo apprentice isn't something you have to dedicate your whole life to it. Lot of people I know have a second job to be financially stable. I myself don't live only from tattooing - I also help my fiancée with our online store (with our fanmerch and original artworks) and go on conventions with our booth. So you always can do multiple things at once and if you'll decide that tattooing isn't for you - nothing is lost!

The best way to know more about tattoo apprenticeship in your area is to check some groups - for example on facebook- dedicated to learning tattooing

Summary: A night at the tattoo studio turns out to be more interesting than you thought while meeting the owner, Harry Styles. Pairing: tattoo artist!Harry Styles x Princess!reader Warnings: angst (especially about reader's life/expectations), mention of a tattoo gun Words: 2.5k

You remembered the brief period in your life when you had lived with your parents in a normal house and not a palace. The walls had not been there for hundreds of years and there was no obligation to keep them as clean and unharmed as possible. You had your own room, still bigger than most kids would ever have, and all you did was put pictures up on the walls, plaster them with posters and even attach some of your favourite wristbands to the wall. They were your small creative space for that time and you had been crying the day you moved out again.

Being inside the tattoo studio reminded you of that time again. While the room was kept in a darker tone, the waiting area consisting of a small black table, a dark armchair and a couch for two people, the walls spoke a different language. Red stripes decorated the wall behind the couch, but its opposite counterpart had many pictures of people with impressive tattoos on them. Different artworks were displayed as well, making you question how anyone could ever be talented enough to produce something like this. You remembered taking art classes every now and then as a child, but it had no future anyway – you were made for other things.

Another small table on your left was filled with disposable cups and a coffee machine as well as sugar and some gummy bears. You assumed it was there for the clients.

The owner walked over to the armchair and sat down in it, resting his tattooed arms on the sides. You were able to make out a mermaid tattoo as well as a heart and anchor. Your curiosity was urging you on to get a closer look at the tattoos, but you knew it would probably be uncalled for. Not many people around you were tattooed. While there was no rule banning tattoos for the royal family, none of your family members had any. Since the staff was mostly dressed in suits most of the time, you never knew if any of them were sporting tattoos.

So your natural curiosity probably came from your distance to tattoos in general.

“I have never talked to a princess before.”

You fumbled with your sleeves nervously at his words. Of course, he hadn’t. A part of you had even wished for him to not recognise you, but how could he live in the UK and not know your face?

“I have never talked to a tattoo artist before.”

A low laugh came from the man. His green eyes stayed focused on you as he crossed his legs and seemed to get more comfortable in the chair. His dark curls looked as if he had run his hands through them too often. You could now make out the motive on his shirt – it seemed to be the name of a band you didn’t recognise.

You were wondering if you had already embarrassed yourself with your words, but the man didn’t seem to show any signs of that.

“Are you not going to sit down?”

Sitting down meant you would have to stay. But wasn’t that what you were here for? The rain outside didn’t seem to stop and there was no way you would get home safely without being sick the next day.

If anyone at the Palace knew about where you were, without security, they would call you naive. Following a stranger just because the weather was bad? Sounded like a death sentence.

You hesitantly walked over to the couch and sat down on it, placing your handbag next to you. Your dress was already wet in some places and you could still feel the chill in your bones. It was warm in here, but not warm enough yet. You pressed your legs together, trying to warm up again.

“You’re cold,” the stranger pointed out and pushed himself out of the chair. Your eyes followed him as he disappeared in another room, coming back with a light blanket. “I turned up the heating, but that’s gonna take a bit, so you can have this until then.”

He handed you the blanket which you quickly wrapped yourself up in. Why was he so kind to you? You had just been standing outside of his studio and hoped the rain wouldn’t kill you.

“Thank you..?”

You didn’t even know his name and no sign outside gave you a hint for that.

“Harry.”

“Harry what?”

“Styles. But why would that matter?” He looked amused for a second, a smirk on his lips and a sparkle in his eyes.

“Because I can’t just call you by your first name,” you defended yourself. Rule number one: Never call someone by their first name (even when they were offering that to you) and always remember their title!

You were just pretty sure you didn’t have to expect a title in this case. It still didn’t change the rule for you.

“Why can’t you?” His voice was still amused, the smirk persisting. He raised his eyebrows at you as if he was curiously waiting for an answer. It made you nervous. Why did he have to ask? Why did he have to make you so unsure about it? Was it not normal to insist on last names even if the person introduced themselves with their first one?

“I just… I never do that.”

“Maybe you should now. I’m just Harry.”

‘Just Harry’ sat back down in his chair, but the amused expression never left his face. He seemed to enjoy this exchange and his gaze never left you.

You gave him a small nod, still not too sure about all of this. What if you were bothering him? He surely had better things to do at this time.

Maybe you should have introduced yourself by now. You didn’t want to come across as rude, but since he had immediately identified you as the Princess, you totally forgot that a more personal introduction should have happened.

“I’m Y/N.”

“It’s a pleasure to meet you, Y/N. Do you want me to use your title or is that not necessary when I saved you from the rain?” Harry’s lips moved up into a smile again and he supported his head with his hand as he looked at you. His green eyes seemed to look right through you as if he could sense the unease inside you. You weren’t used to non-formal meetings like this. Questions like this would never have to be answered usually.

“I don’t think it’s necessary,” you shrugged and gave him a hesitant smile. No one was here to correct you, so you might as well use the chance to be treated like a normal human being. “I would actually appreciate it if you just called me Y/N,” you added, pulling the blanket tighter around you.

Warmth was slowly filling your body again and it didn’t feel like you were going to freeze to death anymore.

“Got that.” Harry gave you a reassuring nod as well. “Do you want anything to drink? Is someone going to come pick you up?”

You looked down at your hands as soon as the last question left his lips. He was right to ask that, of course, but the problem was, no one was going to come pick you up. If you called your driver now, he would fall out of bed and would then have to explain to everyone how you somehow got out of the palace. And you were sure you would kick off a crisis in the palace within seconds.

“No, I don’t think so,” you chuckled nervously. Harry furrowed his brows, his expression puzzled. “So you’re going to walk home when the rain stopped?” He asked instead.

“I guess.”

That was your only choice. You would just have to hope that no one would recognise you and would start a mob on the streets. Then you had to convince the first guards you would see that they had just missed you leaving the palace this morning. The thought alone was already making you nervous. Your fingers grabbed the blanket tightly as if holding onto it would give you some sort of balance again.

There was a long silence in the room, only filled by the rain outside and the occasional sound of thunder in the distance.

Harry eventually got up from his chair and walked over to the back room again. You bent forward a bit to catch a glimpse at what he was doing, but he soon disappeared fully. Did you already make him dislike you? Was that what most people thought of you? You had seen some of the articles the press wrote about you and your family…

Then you could hear the sound of mugs against each other, then hot water was being prepared. “How do you like your tea?” His voice sounded over to you and you placed the blanket aside to get up and walk over to him.

The room in the back seemed to be a small office. You hadn’t noticed the two black doors on both sides before, but the door to the office was wide open. There was a computer on the desk as well as a bunch of drawings. They ranged from snakes to roses and more complex designs like a mermaid. Harry was leaning against another table on the other side of the room which was filled with empty food packages and a kettle. Two mugs with tea bags in them were already placed next to it.

“I usually have it with some milk and a whole lot of sugar,” you answered. “I can put it in myself, don’t worry.”

“Good.”

When the water was ready, Harry filled both of your mugs, before handing one to you. He walked over to a small fridge underneath the first desk you had seen. He took out a carton of milk, handing it to you. There was a small cross tattooed on his hand. Maybe you could take a closer look at all the other tattoos at some point. All of it seemed so intriguing to you.

You placed your mug down again and filled it with milk. By the time you closed it again, Harry had placed some sugar next to you.

When you were done preparing your tea, Harry poured some milk into his own mug and then put it back into the fridge.

Your eyes started to wander through the room more. “Is this where you work?”

That was probably a dumb question. Of course, he was working here. You still felt so out of place, so overwhelmed by the fact you were somewhere you shouldn’t be, that stupid things like this just slipped past your lips so easily.

“This is where the organisation happens. I guess you’ve never been in a tattoo studio before?” He asked, but his tone didn’t hint at any amusement. He seemed to take you seriously nonetheless.

“I haven’t, no,” you admitted and turned back around to Harry. He had a small smile on his lips while he took a sip from the mug. “Want me to show you around, princess?” He asked, his eyes shining with excitement.

Pride was filling his voice and you could tell that this studio, this job, seemed to mean a lot to him. You also appreciated the fact that he was even willing to show you around. He could have just let you wait out the rain in the waiting room and be done with it.

“I would love that,” you agreed, nodding your head. Both of your hands wrapped around the mug as you followed Harry out of the office again. “We’re not a big studio, you know? I have two rooms for the clients. I have two other people working here with me.”

He pushed open the black door on the left, opening up the view to a room with even more drawings on the walls and a client chair in the middle. A small stool was next to it, with wheels underneath it.

Your eyes moved to the tattoo gun next. “Wow,” you whispered, following Harry into the room. You kept your hands around the mug tightly, not wanting to spill anything or even touch something you weren’t supposed to.

All those drawings were so impressive. There was another desk filled with them, but an iPad was on it as well. You assumed this was where Harry was designing some tattoos.

“And you draw all of this?” You asked curiously, pointing to all the different designs around you. This was impressive to you. More than that. It was fascinating to say the least. You had seen portraits of your family members almost looking like pictures, but this was even more intriguing somehow. A few of the designs instantly clicked with you and you found yourself wondering what they would look like on your own skin.

“I do. Well, I guess some of them are from my friend. She usually works in the other room. But the ones you saw in the office are all mine,” he explained, pointing in the direction of the room you were previously in.

You sat the mug down on the desk absentmindedly.

“This is honestly so cool. I’ve never been in a place like this before and this job… I wish I could do that,” you admitted, walking over to the chair to run your hand across it. For a moment, you felt like it was calling to you, to be a bit more rebellious tonight, to come home with a tattoo your parents surely wouldn’t approve of.

It was tempting. You had always felt the need to break out of your cage, to do anything that would resemble a bit of freedom to you.

Harry’s eyes were watching you, a shimmer of something you couldn’t quite place in them. He stepped a bit closer, pointing to the chair. “Sit down, if you want.”

You didn’t hesitate again and sat down in the chair, feeling the comfortable leather beneath you. You looked down at the insides of your arms, trying to imagine the black ink there.

“Tell me what you’re thinking about.” Harry moved a bit closer, his eyes fixated on your arms as well. His eyes darkened and his voice grew lower. You could hear the clock ticking loudly and for a moment, you held your breath as you stared at your blank skin.

How did the wish to go to a party turn into this?

“I’m thinking about a cage on my arms.”

“Are you a trapped bird, princess?” He asked, eyebrows raising with curiosity. You looked at him again, straight into the green of his eyes. It reminded you of the grass outside, the freedom of running through a field.

You weren’t supposed to answer this question. You weren’t supposed to be here.

You weren’t supposed to look at Harry and feel the goosebumps spread over your body. The man was attractive, confident and free. The latter was something you could never be.

You gave him a small nod and Harry pushed his stool back a bit, fumbling in the pockets of his sweatpants. He pulled out a pack of cigarettes, placing one between his pink lips.

“Sing me a song then, caged bird. I will be listening all night.”

6 January Lover Journal January 6, 2014, LA: Taylor decides to move to NY “dating is awful”. Reports KUWK producers wanted to film Harry and Kendall and Harry said no.

16 January - Harry seen at pool, then eagles concert in LA on 17th Harry puts his arm around Kendall at Eagles Concert. Kathy Griffiths said he was wasted, said that Tom hanks joked about wanting to drive Harry rehab and that he didn’t stay with Kendall inside. 18th Jarry at sundance festival

19 January - Harry covered "things I can't" with bible and Silver Spoon tattoo's. 20th in LA

21 January - I know places written, then Welcome to NY, you are in Love. Ryan Tedder said Harry was in the Studio then also.

25 January - Lover Journal: January 25, 2014, LA - after Clive Davis Grammy party at night that she never felt better about their chances of winning a Grammy. Rumour Harry seen with Kendall.

26 January - Red doesn't win Grammy, Taylor decides to make 1989 sonically cohesive

2 February - Harry’s 20th birthday, he told stern in 2022 that when he was 20 he felt like every decision in his adult life had been made as a democracy till that point and felt he should make decisions. Daily Mail he spent birthday with Kendall Jenner, his cousin said he is always the dumpee.

9 February - Clean written

11 February - Taylor gets haircut, Harry seen backstage, she then writes Shake it off. He writes Stockholm Syndrome

14 February - Taylor posted "there's nothing like real love"

15, 17, 18th - Harry seen in London

18 February - Kendall at London Fashion Week, Harry goes to Cara's show not hers, in the BUA the next week "Harry purposely didn’t go to the Topshop show or have his planned party so people wouldn’t speculate about him and Kendall,”

19 February -Taylor writes Style in LA. Harry later to collect Brit because he was in bathroom. Rumour he was smoking with Nick G, Harry left after party with his mum, Zayn and Louis not there.

20 February - Harry arrives in LA in afternoon.

21 February - Harry at Sushi Dream with his mum and Robin, later dinner with Jeff, may be the date Charlie Puth tweeted about him.

22 February - Lover Journal February 22, 2014, LA, Been in the studio with Max, Shake it off, has been in Conway Studios all week. Taylor walks on beach with Lorde. Ariana Grande also recording album with JALBOYH in Conway Studios, Max Martin working on both records. Harry MIA in day, then at same Miley concert, Kendall goes separately. Harry and Kendall BUA, work commitments

2 March - Harry seen in LA, then disappeared for 10 days, then LA again. 1D on break.

3 March - Taylor at vanity fair party

4 March - Alex & Sierra posts photo of Meredith in Taylor’s LA home. Harry wrote I love you for them and this was like meeting him about that, Taylor later confirmed she heard it. Harry seen Culver city

5 March - Harry tweets ‘hands on the wheel’ when Taylor posted the photos from the weekend starting with a photo with Ed and others at vanity fair “this weekend was like..” and including a road trip to big sur with Karlie. Karlie has posted daily till she arrived in LA then started again when Taylor posted her photos. Who took the photos? A tumblr user assumed they stayed at Deetjen's Big Sur Inn resort because someone who took a photo in the same place did, maybe, the hotel is 4 star.

7 March - Taylor publicist Paula Erickson resigns, she provided 60 day notice but announced 2 weeks before took affect. Release said taking PR in-house. This reddit post has good analysis suggesting the split may have been because of the rise of Taylor’s image as a serial dater. There was a page six article that may have come from the publicist that Taylor’s parents were hard to work with.

12, 13 March - Harry had dinner alone in LA, Kendall on date with someone else down the street. Harry’s motorbike broke down, he looked sad, guy who came to help mad. 15 March LA

18 March - Harry back in London

19 March - Liam and Harry take fan who won competition out to dinner at Sanctum Soho Hotel London

24 March - Lover Journal: March 24, 2014, New York; Moved to Tribeca, never felt more busy. One Direction filmed You and I music video at Clevedon Pier Somerset

25 March - Harry The Ace Hotel Shoreditch with Ed and Lou Teasdale for a book launch. 1D tour rehearsals

27 March - 1D Where we are tour rehearsals London. (27 & 28) 1D Camden London recording. MH plays call or delete with Nick Grimshaw and calls Niall and Harry, he says he has Niall’s number because he is writing a song for one direction and that he had never spoken to Harry before (but had his number and Harry recognised his voice.) MH asks to borrow £5k and Harry agrees. Harry probably knew he was on Nick Grimshaw. Harry and Niall seen in rehearsals in England.

2, 3 April - Harry London

8 April - page six article maybe put out by Taylor’s resigned publicist that says Taylor’s parents are difficult to work with and says her business manager also resigned.

26 April - Harry Fern Tattoos, healed, covering "Might as well..."

29 April - Matty Healy's mum says MH is writing a song for 1D

4 May - Taylor attends met gala and later features this dress of ‘old Taylor’ in LAYMMD, marked start of 1989. 1D in Argentina.

7 May - One direction bread van to Christ the redeemer in TV special. Earlier Harry drunk at the hotel pool, floated his hat in the sea and Brazil! Tattoo. 1D sue over condoms using their name, MTV says it means fans will “never ever sleep with Harry Styles”

8 May - One Direction record Change your ticket in Fasano Hotel, (2:12) Rio De Janeiro. The TV Special shows Niall working out the lyrics and Harry recording WDBHG (2:25) also, though the hotel is not credited for WDBHG. In 2016 Matty Healy messily said he had been asked for a song for Four which wasn't used and felt Change Your Ticket was similar to guitars on the 1975 Girls. 1975 or MH never pursued it other than the shade. MH said to Capital FM he heard change your ticket before it came out and asked to take guitars off he didn’t write on it.

11 May - 1D tour break till 23 May, working on Four.

17 May - Taylor on tour break in NYC, working on 1989. Taylor seen most days in NYC in May.

17 & 20 May - Harry seen LA

24 May - One Direction (headliner) and Ed Sheeran play Radio 1 Big weekend in Glasgow. Ed wrote 18 this week. Liam said they had a show in another country the night before and that night. Taylor leaves NYC not seen for 6 days until Japan 31 May. 23 May - 13 July Europe 1D dates.

26 - 28 May - One Direction break, Taylor MIA. Harry in London and plays celebrity football game on 26th. After scoring a penalty shot Harry hugged Niall then kissed his heart tattoo.

27 May - footage of Zayn and Louis smoking weed in a car leaked, filmed in April. Harry quoted in media being annoyed they let it be filmed. Ed Sheeran live on Britans got talent, Simon Cowell asked for a 1D song, Ed declined then wrote 18 the next day.

Your lip quivers as you bite it. You have no real reason to be anxious but yet, yay anxiety. You try to stave off the incoming invasion of irrational thoughts. Should you be doing this? Is it too soon? Yes, the single is a hit on YouTube but is it really enough to warrant having an interview and photoshoot with Revolver Magazine? You didn’t honestly think so but the studio felt otherwise.

“Hey Y/N” a feminine voice says, rudely but thankfully interrupting your impending spiral. You look up to see your stylist for today looking at you, a perfectly manicured eyebrow raised and blush brush in her hand. Your cheeks heat up instantly. “Sorry Patrice, what did you say?” you say, hoping she won’t judge you too much.

She chuckles, giving you a soft smile as she puts down her brush. “I said you are done and wanted your opinion on it but obviously you have other things on your mind.” “Is it that obvious?” you mumble as you look down at your newly manicured hands clutching your phone. The dark wine colored stiletto nails make your hands look like they don't belong to you.

“Babe, it's okay. This is a celebration of you and your achievements. No one is here to bring you down” she says softly, placing a hand on her shoulder. “You know what I see? I see a hot badass bitch who stood up to the industry, gave it a big fuck you and then turned it on it’s head for the better, all the while snagging the hottest man in the scene.” You feel your blush deepen at her multiple compliments.

You know she is right. The lawsuit against First Order Records and the residual fallout did revolutionize the music industry. It exposed the over control the big corporate labels had over their artists and how they were unfairly compensated for their hard work. Many artists took the opportunity to jump ship and sign on with smaller studios where they had more freedom and control of their art. Fans were divided, but most of them loved that their favorite artists had a say now.

D'Kar had been growing by leaps and bounds, opening two new studios in Miami and New York. You had gone and helped Chewie get the Miami office off the ground, signing up and coming artists at every turn. You really enjoyed talking with them, learning about their unique viewpoints on music. It was fascinating.

The Knights of Ren continued to be successful as well, winning best new album at the Billboard Music Awards and Heavy Music Awards. You traveled with them to the UK for the awards show, smiling like a fool when they performed Never Giving Up live. The media presence was intense, requesting interviews but you declined stating you were there to support them.

When you returned back home, Kylo quickly asked you to move in with him. He didn’t make it a huge deal, just saying there was no point in being apart. You accepted and offered Rae your place, knowing it was bigger than her current place and would be the perfect spot for her to raise Kayla. You and Kylo took your time and ultimately made his place a home, a perfect mix of the two of you.

You continue to be KOR’s senior producer, assisting them in developing new ideas and music. Their newest album is due for release in March but their newest single, a collab with Horizons and AntiChri$t, a dark trap/Hip-Hop artist from Echo Station Records, was currently blowing up the charts. You loved watching Kylo work, always amazed at how he weaves himself into each note.

So when he caught you one evening toying with a song idea, he pushed you to try. You did after much coaxing and through the support of D’Kar and The Knights you released an acoustic song online. It was simple but full of meaning and emotion. Kylo and Vic of course didn’t take no for an answer and played the musical accompaniment on the video as well as the subsequent recording.

You had never been so nervous in your life as you were that day, setting off a severe panic attack. Kylo held you tight, talking you through your breathing exercises. You begged him to call it all off, saying you weren’t ready but he refused. He showered you in loving kisses, telling you how worthy you were and how much you deserved this.

Kylo. Your heart warmed at the thought of him. Your amazing, goofy, sexy but sweet, talented man. You love him so much and you thank the stars every day for him. “Yeah you're right, I know I’m luckier than most” you say, giving her a small smile. She smiles back as she grabs her hairspray.

It felt good to know your song is touching multiple age groups. It was a perfect example of how music was truly something everyone can enjoy.

“Well if you want I can say hi to her if you want” you offer. “Really?” she says with wide eyes “no no that’s too much. I think just a picture with you will be enough. Are you okay with that?” You smile and look at her through the mirror knowing you two are becoming fast friends. “I think I can swing that”.

A knock on the door pulls both your attention. “Are you decent?” a prim English accent says through the door. You laugh and shake your head. “It’s nothing you haven’t seen before” you say as he enters. “Yes, that's what I’m afraid of,” he says, sounding uncomfortable.

You giggle softly at the memory of him catching you and Kylo in your hotel room last month. He had squawked about it being lewd and indecent while Cassian laughed his ass off calling him a hypocritical prude. He must be thinking of the same memory because his cheeks reddened as he huffs out a breath and rolls his eyes.

“Don’t” he says, the side of his mouth twitched upward. You give him a smug smile, saluting him through the mirror. “You did great Patrice as always” he says, walking up to the two of you and handing her a stack of bills. “Pleasure as always Huxy” she says as she packs up her bags. You stand, tucking in the front of your shirt as you join them.

Patrice must have told Hux about the photo, motioning to the both of you as he raised up her phone. You wrap your hand around her waist and smile, taking a couple photos with her. “Beautiful” he says as he hands her phone back. She smiles warmly and gives you both another quick side hug before slipping out the door.

“How are you feeling Y/N?” he says as the door clicks shut. “I’m okay, just nervous I guess” you respond, your fingers beginning to fidget. “Don’t be, this is the easy part. You killed the interview, now you just have to stand there and look pretty” he says as he phone buzzes. Easy for him to say, you think as his eyes darken and eyebrows furrow at whatever he reads on the phone.

“Sorry love but I got to go, the assistant will be here in a bit to escort you. You look beautiful and you will kill it” he says quickly as he turns, leaving you alone. You take a breath, trying to keep your anxiety at bay. You wonder what could be so important that would make Hux react like that.

“Fuck I thought he’d never leave” a dark smooth voice from the side, surprising you. You yelp, your heart almost leaping out of your chest. You turn to see Kylo’s head peeking out from the dressing racks, a huge shit-eating grin spread across his face. “Kylo! What the fuck!” you exclaim as you hold a hand to your chest, willing your galloping heart rate to a normal level.

“Sorry baby girl, it was just too perfect” he says, laughing as he ducks his head under the bar, exposing himself at last. You take him in, his fresh white button down and distressed black jeans definitely was not what he was wearing when he dropped you off, but damn did he look good. The soft white cotton fit his broad chest well, the first couple buttons left open to expose his tattoos. You eyes reach his face to notice the hunger in his rapidly dilating eyes. “Hmm” he growls “you look stunning” he says as he takes a step forward, wrapping an arm around your waist and pulling you close to him.

The smell of his Tom Ford cologne hits your nose, making you want to melt into him. Damn him. You huff as you school your features, smack him in the chest. “Ow what’s that for?” he says dramatically, suddenly starting to tickle you. You truly cherish how much he trusts you with his heart. You sigh happily, knowing you will never be alone again.

You look down at the arm wrapped around you, the skin on his wrist still pink and healing. “You know you can cover it up if you want to” you say as your fingers trace one of his newest tattoos. “Why would I do that, beautiful? I got it in honor of the happiest day of my life. If someone doesn’t like well fuck them” he says, kissing your entwined hands. You nod in agreement. It was the happiest day of your life as well.

The assistant looks at the two of you nervously. “Lead the way Michael, after the shoot I’ll sign your stuff” Kylo says, running a hand through his hair.

The assistant nods, his face a little less nervous as he leads you both to a large room full of people and equipment. The photographer sits in a directors chair, barking out orders as assistants rush back and forth. Two of them pull you from Kylo and lead you forward to a source of the shouts. “Luke?” one of them says nervously. The orders stop instantly as a pair of blue eyes land on you. “Ms L/N? Pleasure to meet you” a short gray haired man says, offering his hand.

You shake his hand, hoping it’s not too sweaty. “I know you are new at this so here’s the synopsis. We will do pictures standing, on the coach and by the bike. Biggest thing to remember is not to stress, I’m here to lead you through” he says, one hand messing with the camera settings.

“Thanks Luke” you say as you are led in front of the cameras, the assistants hovering as Luke begins barking out orders once again. You try your best to keep your face neutral, not letting the assistants’ stressed energy get to you. “Okay Y/N I think we are good to start” Luke says transferring to the stool next to his chair “take a deep breath for me okay”.

You do so, shaking out your limbs and fixing your shirt once more before getting into position. Arms crossed with a relaxed posture with one hip leaning on the side of the couch. “Perfect” Luke says, camera clicking away. You spot movement behind him, your heart warming to see Kylo standing behind him, a soft look overtaking his features. You smile involuntarily, your nerves lessening when you hear him say “I love you”.

You are led through a couple different positions, both standing and sitting on a black leather couch. They were very professional, with just a hint of sexy. Luke complimented you through it, finally calling for a water break and a background change.

Two assistants rush you, pulling you aside as the couch is removed and replaced by a vintage Harley motorcycle. You smirk at the multiple memories of a very similar one. “Mine’s better that’s for sure” he says as he comes up next to you, immediately wrapping an arm around you. You nudge your hip out to bump his as Patrice fixes your makeup.

He kisses the top of your head, releasing you as Luke calls his name. You watch him wink as he turns and lumbers to the motorcycle, shouting something to Luke. No. No fucking way.

Patrice’s laugh pulls you from your shock at the dramatic turn of events. “What? He didn’t tell you? Figures” she says, trying to compose herself as she fluffs your hair and adjusts your shirt to more off the shoulder look, exposing your collarbone tattoo as you hear camera clicks behind you.

She smiles wide, her eyes sparkling with happiness. “He paid us all to keep this part a secret as a surprise for you. Yes, some are for the magazine, but most are for you two as your wedding photos.” Your eyes widen and begin to water as your jaw goes slack, finally putting it all together.

“Now don’t start that! Don’t make me have to redo my work” she says sternly. You shake your head, laughing at the ridiculousness of all this and how much Kylo fucking loves you. It’s seriously unbelievable. “Hey, you got this, okay babe? Just enjoy the moment” she says, leading you up to your man. You take his awaiting hand, his eyes darkening once more as he takes you in. “Yes Kylo keep that fire” Luke yells “Y/N get closer to him, yes like that.”

You get as close to Kylo as you can, your back to his chest and his arm around your waist. He nuzzles your shoulder in a couple while in others you share soft kisses. “Thank you” you whisper to him when Luke calls for a lighting change. “No need to thank me baby girl. You make me the happiest man on the face of this earth. It’s time the world knows” he says as he kisses you again.

“Alright guys final position” Luke calls out “ okay arms around her Kylo, yep that’s right. Remember left hands exposed and facing out, good perfect” He encircles you, a strong protective shell from the world. You know when you’re here you're safe because your husband will do anything to protect you.

As on cue, Kylo lays his head on your shoulder, his long black hair hiding his face. You feel him leaving kisses on your skin as you turn your head, nuzzling your nose into the side of his head. “Shift your arms down Kylo, yep perfect I can see her tattoo better now” Luke says as the camera rapidly clicks. “I love you Mrs. Y/N L/N-Ren” he whispers into your skin.

You can’t help the tears that well up as your fingers caress the raised tattooed roman numerals on his side of his wrist. “Okay perfect guys, now show off the finger tattoos.” Kylo shifts a little bit behind you, raising his head to kiss your check. You hand lays over his, your matching delicate ring finger tattoos and wedding bands facing the camera. “I love you too Mr. Ren” you respond knowing no matter what life gives, you have each other and nothing will never ever break it.

Origin of Symmetry

IN MUSIC

As the band tours the world with their debut album, performs at festivals and opens for their seniors to experience the ‘outside world’, they reaffirm the direction they should be pursuing. In other words, they strengthened Muse's unique character that is unlike any other.

The band's previous album had already developed a distinctive style based on alternative rock, incorporating classical elements and exoticism, but this sophomore album takes it even further, expressing each characteristic in a richer, more dramatic way. The guitar, which is trying to surpass Jimi Hendrix and Tom Morello, is even louder and noisier than on the previous album, while the Rachmaninoff-esque piano on track (3/ Space Dementia) runs wildly in all directions. The band also experimented with new instruments such as the mellotron and the church pipe organ used in the solemn track (12/ Megalomania), resulting in an even richer diversity of sound and arrangement.

The majority of the songs on this album were written during the tour, and many of them were performed live before the album was released through repeated trial and error, reflecting the experience gained through live performances. The more dynamic swings between stillness and movement in (1/ New Born), (2/ Bliss), (4/ Hyper Music), (5/ Plug In Baby) and (6/ Citizen Erased) reflect the band's emphasis on exchanging heat with their audience and the catharsis of ‘building up, building up and then exploding’, which they knew first-hand. It was a natural progression for them. The lyrical themes of the first album were mainly about the pent-up feelings of youth in a small provincial town and the anguish of love, but this album is also characterised by a broadening of the range to include (anti-)religious views and more metaphysical themes.

In the UK in 2000, the debut album [Parachutes] by Coldplay, a leading lyrical band, and Radiohead's electronica-leaning fourth album [Kid A] both reached number one in the UK. The trend towards ‘de-rocking’ was accelerating. This album appeared to stem the tide, reaching Number 3 in the UK and marking an important turning point in the future of UK rock music. —Imai Sumi

2001 Hit Albums

The best-selling studio albums of the year were Linkin Park's "Hybrid Theory" and U2's "All That You Can't Leave Behind," both released the previous year, but it was the hip-hop/R&B artists who were generally stronger. For example, JAY-Z's (A/ The Blueprint), now the king of rap, won both the US and UK charts, as did Alicia Keys' memorable debut album (B/ Songs in A Minor) and Destiny's Child's "Survivor" (led by future JAY-Z wife Beyoncé Knowles), both of which were widely received outside R&B listeners. In the meantime, the song was also a big breakthrough in the US. Among the UK acts that also made it big in the US were Gorillaz, a new project of Blur frontman Damon Albarn that took the unique form of a fictional band featuring cartoon characters, and Radiohead, who also enjoyed great success in the US with "OK Computer" and "Kid A". Although they were two completely different types of band, they were received with intelligent and artistic personalities. In contrast, Blink-182, known for its tattoo-covered drummer Travis Barker, recorded a hit following "Enema of the State" with a distinctly American pop-punk feel. Also in the United States, The Strokes, featuring Albert Hammond Jr., the son of singer-songwriter Albert Hammond, broke through the UK. Good Rock'n'Roll was highly praised by discerning adult listeners and critics alike.

IN LYRICS

In an interview at the time of the release of this album, Matthew said that the lyrics were ‘a mirror image of myself’ and that ‘this is a positive piece of work’. On the other hand, in an interview conducted at the time of the release of 'Absolution', when he was able to look back at the album with some objectivity, he said, ‘It's a projection of my chaotic self at the time’. In the case of 'Showbiz', ‘I’ and ‘you’ could have converged in a delicate romantic relationship, but in the case of this work, ‘I’ tends to try to separate ‘you’ from ‘me’. If you read such a ‘you’ in terms of the extraordinary touring life, music business and social reality…… you can see how lonely and chaotic Matthew himself and his muse were, but he was also conscious of something that was lost in the process.

The ‘you’ depicted in track (8/ Screenager), the quietest number on the album, could be seen as a lost ‘me’ in the sense that it retains its beauty in the past. It would be somewhat sentimental to call it a rite of passage for growth, but if Muse's next leap forward was promised by the fact that they had not lost their ability to look at themselves objectively in the midst of their rock star binge, then the meaning of the song is quite profound, despite the subdued nature of the song.

The song (6/ Citizen Erased), ‘I'm sure I used to be so free’, can also be read as a story about the ‘me’ that is being lost, as it depicts a sense of danger of being tamed by something. However, when examined in conjunction with the title "Citizen Erased" and the illustrations in the booklet that suggest citizens being led into chaos, a worldview similar to George Orwell's "1984" emerges. Looking back on this work, which also shows the budding of a science fiction world, it may have been a drop in the river that would open up towards 'The Resistance'. —Abe Kaoru

August - A test aircraft is launched from the Tanegashima Space Centre. September - Tokyo DisneySea opens. - September 11th attacks. The terrorist attacks in the USA shook the world. Four planes are hijacked by al-Qaeda, two of which crash into the twin towers of the World Trade Centre in New York and collapsed both buildings. One crashed into the Pentagon in Washington DC, and the other remaining one crashed in Somerset County, Pennsylvania. October - US forces launched the invasion of Afghanistan. - Apple Computer's iPod was launched. November - Second tour in Japan begins. Live performances are held in Tokyo, Nagoya and Osaka. - Suzuki Ichiro, playing for the Seattle Mariners in the USA, won the Rookie of the Year and MVP titles. December - Birth of Princess Aiko.

Translator's Notes: I had to edit some parts of the article, especially with the Year 2001 part covering September.
