F ixing the hem of your sweater, you gave your reflection in the mirror a determined look. “We’re gonna win this,” you declared with a satisfied sigh.

What exactly were you going to win? In your own words: “The Ugly Sweater Competition.” Well, it wasn’t an official competition, just a friendly battle among your friends at a Christmas party with an ugly sweater theme. But in your world, fashion was never just for fun. Whether it was chic designer outfits or, in this case, the ugliest sweater imaginable, you had to stand out.

It wasn’t an obsession, really. You just loved dressing up and basking in the compliments that followed. Your impeccable sense of style had become something of a legend among your friends—and especially with your boyfriend, Chenle, who never missed a chance to hype you up.

“Babe, are you done yet?” his voice called from the living room, pulling you out of your thoughts.

With a final glance in the mirror, you tied your hair into a ponytail and bolted out of the bedroom. “All set!” you announced with a grin, spinning to show off your ensemble.

There he was, standing by the door, looking effortlessly handsome in the same ridiculous sweater as yours. Chenle’s broad smile lit up the room as he stepped closer, his eyes sparkling with amusement.

“Wow,” he said, giving you a playful once-over. “Never thought I’d see someone look this gorgeous in an ugly sweater.”

“How ironic,” you giggled, lightly swatting his arm.

“Wait!” he exclaimed, suddenly pulling out his phone. “Before we leave, we need some pictures. You know—proof that we’re rocking these sweaters better than anyone else.”

You laughed as he gestured for you to stand near the Christmas tree. “Alright, alright! Tell me when I’m ‘competition ready,’” you teased.

Chenle grinned and held up his phone. “You’re always competition ready. Now strike a pose, madam!”

You started off with your usual go-to poses, keeping it classy, but soon the festive vibes got the better of you. Before you knew it, you were making goofy faces and dramatic poses, completely leaning into the ridiculousness of your sweater.

Chenle couldn’t stop laughing, snapping picture after picture. “You’re too much,” he said, shaking his head, before deciding to join in. Suddenly, it wasn’t just your photoshoot anymore—it was your photoshoot. Together, the two of you posed in the silliest ways imaginable, laughing so hard your cheeks hurt.

“Alright, selfie time!” Chenle announced, flipping the camera. You leaned in eagerly, the two of you pulling every ridiculous expression in the book.

But then, in the middle of the chaos, he stopped.

“Look at me,” he said softly, cupping your face with one hand while still holding the phone in the other.

You barely had time to blink before he leaned in, capturing your lips in a deep, sweet kiss. For a moment, the silliness melted into something warmer, cozier, like the kind of love that made even ugly sweaters feel beautiful.

When he finally pulled back, his lips curved into a smirk. “Ugly sweater kisses,” he murmured, making you laugh again.

“Ugly sweater everything,” you replied, your heart full as you headed out the door, hand in hand, ready to show the world—or at least your friends—that ugly sweaters had never looked this good.
