I literally make curry udon with onions and pork every week. It's my meal prep for about four days. I use butter instead of oil and vegetable broth (made primarily of carrots) instead of dashi. But I also add WAY more spices and seasonings than just curry cubes. In fact, I made some tonight!
Kare Udon with Pork

I just learned about the age difference between Kid and Killer and their pre-canon has got more funnier.
Imagine a big ass hairy and dangerous 17 year old goes around beating the shit out of people and killing them... And the small little 13 y.o chaotic bean just follows him behind
Can you imagine that they picked a fight over a GIRL. Just imagine. Victoria and Killer are about the same age (or that will be really weird)... And somehow some small kid just fights him for a girl who's much older than him
Can you imagine Kid saying "You're strong and cool! You'll be in my gang now!" And Killer just looks at him, capable of killing him in an instant... And just goes "Yeah, I'll protect that dumbass till the day I die".
Imagine just Kid doing some gang leader shit, and Killer following him behind as his right hand (their gangs are probably friends at that point and even became one big gang under a child lead). Everyone think that this small ass piece was strong enough to defeat their leader and therefore respect him... But Killer is just on a constant big brother duty, because Kid was the only person who didn't saw a monster in him.
When Kid grew up and became strong Killer was so devastated because he can't protect him anymore. Kid can defend himself just fine, so Killer's presence wouldn't be so relevant anymore. So he decided to step off and take care of his gang and territory.
But then Kid got worried. His prehistoric evil scientist brain goes "No Killer, = Sad". So he just goes to him, grabs him by the hand and returns him home, and Killer goes "Oh ok".
In Wano after Udon prison Killer considers quitting. With his permanent smile on his face and his terrifying ugly laugh he will be no use to Kid. Looking at him he feels so proud. It feels like almost yesterday he was just a small chaotic troublemaker not even reaching the size of his hip. Yet today in front of Killer's own eyes there was standing the future King of the Pirates, a man who will stand proud and strong. And Killer couldn't help him anymore.
So he starts saying, actually thinking that Kid would listen: "Hey, Ki-", "Let's go, Kill!" The warm hand grabs his, "We need to find our crew"
And the future King of the Pirates, the strongest man alive, just looks at him. Only him at the moment, almost searching for some of his guidance.
Kid holds his hand tightly and leads him to their ship. His home. Where he was always belong. Where he never was a monster, or an ugly guy, or anything except from Killer - Kid's Pirates first mate. He never felt himself at home so hard before. Oh look. The laughing had stopped!

Luffy’s tendency to self-sacrifice and the way he responds to loss are both incredibly telling aspects of his character. They show his level of love and dedication to other people, but most importantly they show his selflessness. Now, selflessness isn't necessarily a bad thing, but due to the level of selflessness that Luffy displays, it reveals a major character flaw.
Now, I’m not criticizing Luffy’s character, but what I am doing is pointing out something that I’d categorize as a negative character trait. And one that I find particularly fascinating.
Luffy may seem like the typical shonen protagonist on the surface (flawless, stupid, and selfless to a tee). However, if you take a look past surface level then you will find that Luffy is an incredibly complex character. Because while he is incredibly stupid, he possesses a certain multidimensionality that sets him apart from other typical shonen protags.
In regards to that multidimensionality, I’ve noticed that Luffy measures his own self worth exclusively through other people. By his value in the eyes of others. How he can serve them and how much worth he holds in their lives.
Okay but... what the fuck does this mean.
First of all I’d like to discuss Luffy’s tendency to self-sacrifice. Have you ever stopped to notice that every single one of Luffy’s specialized gears has a negative side effect of some kind? Second Gear puts so much strain on his heart that it is said to shorten his lifespan the more often he uses it. Third Gear makes his body shrink. Fourth Gear exhausts his Haki so terribly that he becomes immobile for ten minutes. And I feel like Fifth Gear speaks for itself...
Clearly Luffy has no qualms about sacrificing his body, but why is that? The answer, at least in my interpretation, is that Luffy’s self-sacrifice has entirely to do with the value he places on himself. The catch is that he doesn’t place any value on his own life. Luffy has proven on multiple occasions that he is more than willing to throw his own life away for the sake of others.
We see this in Udon prison, when Luffy was actively poisoning himself to death to make a point, even though it’s difficult to notice how close he was to getting himself killed because Toei decided that if Luffy was dying he was going to look Hot while doing it
We see this again when Luffy climbed the mountain in Chopper’s Arc, destroying his fingers and risking freezing to death all to save Nami and Sanji.
We see this when Luffy fought Magellan in Impel Down, which was the closest Luffy came to killing himself for the cause.
Then again on Whole Cake Island when he tried to let Sanji kick him to death to prove a point. And when he tried to starve himself to death to prove a point. And when he tried to rip his own arms off–
And of course we can’t forget about Thriller Bark. The entire point of Zoro taking Luffy’s pain was to show just how far Luffy was hurting himself in order to protect the crew. There was an entire conversation between the Straw Hats about how unhealthy that behavior was, and how they needed to protect Luffy from himself by getting stronger.
These are all shining examples of Luffy taking selflessness just a little too far. And while placing high value on the lives of others isn’t a negative quality, doing so to this degree isn’t exactly healthy. I say that Luffy holds no value in his own life because he cares this much about other people. He cares more about other people than he does about himself, and is more than willing to die in the process of protecting/saving his loved ones.
I came to this conclusion by looking at the way Luffy handles loss.
And the simple answer is that... Luffy doesn't handle loss. (The entirety of Whole Cake Island was just Luffy outright refusing to lose another loved one)
And when he does... he doesn’t.
Which is exactly what I’m talking about. Whenever Luffy loses people that he deeply cares about he immediately flips his lid. Water Seven and Thriller Bark seemed like all fun and games after watching Luffy grieve the loss of his crew on Sabaody. Seeing him break down like that was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to watch... You can feel just how much this loss has impacted Luffy, and it hurts.
Amazon Lily was largely comedic, which served as a well needed break in between Sabody and all the Horrors of the Summit War. Because of this, the delivery of Luffy’s behavior after the events on Sabody is easy to brush off as a gag joke... but you can’t deny the fact that he overdosed on poisonous mushrooms. And while, yes, Luffy is a fucking idiot, not moments beforehand he was digging through the forest and talking about how many species of mushrooms he knew and all the wacky side effects of eating them. So clearly Luffy knows his stuff, and I think it’s just a little too convenient that he “accidentally almost died of a drug overdose shortly after losing everyone he held dear” after Oda explicitly stated that he knew his shit when it came to eating plants in the woods.
And then, of course, we have Luffy’s breakdown after Ace’s death. Which was even more difficult to watch than Sabody had been.
Are we beginning to see a trend? Luffy will try his damndest not to lose the people he cares about, but it’s impossible to save everyone. On the rare chance that he does lose someone he cares about, he immediately has a suicidal breakdown and gets extremely violent towards himself.
I’m certain that we can all agree that trying to kill yourself as a result of grief is NOT a healthy coping mechanism. Luffy is a completely happy-go-lucky character, with a suspicious tendency to over-sacrifice, yes, but the moment he fails/loses his friends he has a psychotic break. Without other people around him, Luffy suddenly loses all sense of self worth. Because he is nothing without his nakama... right?
It’s so easy to miss this detail about Luffy’s character, and it’s because he’s so good at concealing his negative emotions. Luffy puts on a brave face for the people he cares about, and he doesn’t want people to see him as anything less than a ray of sunshine and a symbol of joy and freedom. His conversation with Jimbei after Marineford was about how he needed to bury his grief for Ace even though it was unhealthy, because Luffy needed to remain strong.
Clearly he’s taken this to heart, because he hasn’t talked about how Ace’s death has impacted him even once. Luffy refuses to show emotional weakness in front of his crew, he is doing all in his power to be strong and support them while asking for nothing in return. Even now Luffy can’t hear Ace’s name without tearing up.
Luffy puts on a strong facade, and it is what makes his self-sacrifice seem so heroic, and what makes it so easy to miss how unhealthy it is. Luffy always saves people at the expense of his own life. He takes his battles incredibly too far, always ending up horrifically injured and using abilities that are detrimental to his body and his health. But he always recovers so easily, so quickly, and it is easy for the viewer/reader to move past Luffy’s self-sacrifice because he moves past it easily.
But why is he so nonchalant about nearly killing himself in almost every battle he places himself in? Simple, it is because he is not afraid of dying. Because in his eyes, he has no worth as a person unless he gives his EVERYTHING to the people he cares about.
Hence, Luffy measures his self worth entirely through other people, and therefore will stop at nothing to protect and fight for others. Because otherwise he is nothing.
I like to think that he developed this mindset as a result of his early childhood. Dragon didn’t want him. Garp didn’t want him. Dadan didn’t want him. Ace didn’t want him. Luffy was only accepted and cared for by others once he proved his worth to Ace and Sabo. Remember? They only started caring about Luffy and accepted him into their group after he got beaten violently for hours to protect their treasure stash. An act of violent self-sacrifice. It earned Luffy two brothers, but it also instilled the idea of his worthlessness unless he serves other people.
Remember when Luffy asked Ace to promise him not to die? I like to read between the lines a little. (Don’t leave me behind, Ace.) (I’m nothing without you, Ace.)
Luffy is a clingy person. He cares so much about other people, and will go to incredible lengths to keep them close. He can be happy, but only with other people. Because he needs other people in order to value his own life. He doesn’t care about himself, he only cares about others.
That is a very unhealthy mindset in this context, and is a major character flaw because of the impact it has on Luffy’s mental health.
But it also shows an incredible duality.
Selflessness is a highly valued characteristic. But in Luffy’s case, he brings it to an extreme. What could be considered his greatest strength is also his greatest flaw.
Luffy is a very admirable character because of this, and I love him a totally normal amount

got to the "luffy willingly gets infected" scene in udon prison and i'm just like (thinks about tiny luffy stabbing himself in the face) (thinks about luffy hitting don krieg through the spikes) (thinks about luffy saying "my body doesn't matter" about being tired from gear 2 use in ennies lobby) (thinks about the whole impel down/marineford thing where he was running only on two shots of adrenaline) (thinks about tiny luffy enduring multiple hours of torture cause he didn't want ace & sabo to hate him for spilling their secret) (thinks about luffy starving himself on purpose) (thinks about luffy trying to rip his arms off) (thinks about multiple other scenes) please start caring about your body, you're worrying me, you're my baby-est sibling's age, please stop hurting yourself/letting yourself get hurt so much
Luffy's little care for his body basically comes from nobody ever teaching him how important it is to take care of it because yeah, he might be aware of his own value, but he becomes extremely reckless and selfless when it comes to sacrificing himself for the people he loves/not being alone.
So both his dedication for his crew/family and his fears always come first than his well-being and it is so worrisome. Not to mention, also, that he got a fruit that modifies his body and turns it into a material that is seemingly indestructible in the eyes of a child, so of course he is going to assume that he can't get hurt.
And yeah, he is obviously stronger than the average but he is not immune to getting hurt physically. It makes me sick to think of all those times he has used his body as a method to either prove something or save somebody else.
In general, Luffy puts his body and life on the line because he has obviously very suicidal/self-harming tendencies (which I have talked about before). He sees no purpose in living without a dream or alone, so of course he is going to let himself be tortured so Sabo and Ace won't hate him. Of course he is going to starve to make Sanji come back to them. Of course he is going to do anything to save Ace. Etc etc etc. Luffy's behavior in general is extremely reckless because he is a very stubborn and impulsive person and if he says he will do something, he will, no matter the cost.
#we are finally talking about this because it's fucking insane#idiot idiot idiot he is an idiot and i love him and i wish he took care of his body more#but at the same time i don't want to bc this is soooo nice for character depth like it just makes so much sense for him#one piece#monkey d. luffy#ask-bean!

Chapter 55 - The Valkyrie
Everything has to end, nobody lives forever.
Word Count: ~6.4k
CW: suicide and noncanon deaths of major characters (separate things, sorry in advance)
A few days later and Heat was ready to travel. It was remarkable to you how the men you knew were all such fast healers - most of Heat's wounds were now well closed and on their way to becoming new scars. He walked like nothing had happened, like he hadn't almost died less than a week ago. Killer too had similarly healed fast, he'd received a life threatening gash from Straw Hat Roronoa Zoro mere hours before Kid had been taken with him to Udon, and yet the next day he was on top of you. You'd met men in the marines like that too, and someone had told you once that it had to do will willpower. You'd stopped questioning it at some point, you were just thankful Heat was on his feet and eager to fight again.
Your group moved swiftly on foot towards the nearest port, where Kid was bringing the ship to meet you; a far shorter journey than the one it took to get to the Heart Pirate base. Once again, Wire carried you so you could focus on keeping the group masked. It seemed like there was a rise in Beast Pirate scout numbers, and a buzz in the air that told you something was happening in Wano. Something big. Heat carried Dawn on his chest in his usual fabric wrap carrier, and every time you looked over to him he seemed smitten; it was clear he'd missed her a lot. Whenever the area was clear enough for it to be safe, he would sing to her softly in his gruff voice. She slept most of the way, soothed by Heat's warmth and the natural rocking of his walking. Watching them made it feel a lot like things were going to be okay, despite the dangerous battle looming on the horizon.
Heat also carried your other things - your duffle and your reclaimed katana that you'd left with the Hearts. Mohawk carried Double's rifle. He'd taken the news of his death hard, and the usually quiet man walked in sombre silence, he hadn't spoken much at all since getting the news. You felt bad for not telling him earlier, he'd had to wait until someone handed him Double's gun to find out, but you'd sort of had other more pressing things on your mind. Mohawk and Double had been close, best friends, and Mohawk was grieving. Telling him Double had saved you by showing you where the rifle was had been no compensation for his loss; Mohawk just wanted his friend back. The two of them had known each other almost as long as Heat and Wire, and had both come on board the ship around the same time as each other. Mohawk losing Double was the equivalent of Wire theoretically losing Heat, and you all had deep sympathy for him. The thought of Heat and Wire losing each other made you hug Wire closer as he carried you on his back, you couldn't imagine one without the other, which is why Wire's confession came as no surprise. Back when Heat had threatened to leave the crew with you, you were sure Wire would have come too. It didn't feel right to seperate them.
With your exceptional eyesight and your raised view on Wire's back, you were the first to spot the ship in the port in the distance. The port was busy, full of what seemed like ships belonging to samurai, part of the grand plan to raid Onigashima you guessed. As soon as you told the others you could see the Victoria Punk, the pace increased tenfold as you all hurried home. There was a heartwarming reunion as the commanders met back up on the dock, with Killer eagerly taking Dawn from Heat so Kid could properly embrace the bluenette. It wasn't often that Kid hugged someone other than Killer, but Heat had been close to death the last time Kid saw him, and everyone was relieved that he survived.
Meanwhile, Dawn immediately stuck her fingers through the holes of Killer's mask and refused to let go, which everyone thought was very cute as she giggled at him. Killer was worried Dawn wouldn't remember him, he felt like he'd lost himself in Wano with his time as Kamazo, but it was clear that wasn't the case. His laughs seemed genuine as he entertained Dawn, now that he had his mask again you couldn't feel the neurons moving in his brain anymore, so you couldn't tell for sure, but his body language told you how happy he was. Killer had also been scared that his laugh would scare Dawn, but it seemed contagious for her and only made her giggle more.
With everyone back on the ship, the commanders gathered to figure out what was going to happen. Mohawk didn't join, he was distant in general and had no energy to be a part of any meeting - nobody questioned his need to be alone right now. He went to the room he used to share with Double and locked the door behind him, with not another word said to anyone else on the crew.
Kid was obviously keen on taking down Kaido, and while he wanted to do it himself, learning that Big Mom was on the island was a spanner in the plans: even Kid wasn't dumb enough to take on two emperors on his own. You filled him in on the alliance plans, as well as your promise to Law to help in exchange for the help you'd received. Kid didn't like it, but he was an honest man who pays his debts, and looking at Dawn in Killer's lap it was clear she had been well taken care of while you were busy saving everyone else. The crew couldn't have gotten free without the Heart's help, he hated to admit it, but it was true. Thanks to Scratchmen and Hawkins, Kid wasn't keen on another alliance, but Trafalgar had proven at least for now that he could be trusted. Kid would never admit that he was in the alliance though, his pride wouldn't allow it. The Straw Hats too had proven their worth, between Luffy in Udon and the rest of the crew helping you and Dawn. As far as Kid was concerned though, they were all still enemies. Just enemies with a mutual goal.
The rest of the crew had taken the time sailing to ready the ship and themselves for the battle, with the new crew mates all settled into their bunks. Nobody questioned whether they would go through any sort of initiation, the shared horrors they went through in prison together at Kaido's orders was enough to prove their worth. Knowing it wouldn't be safe for Dawn during the battle, a few of the newbies had been left with Dawn in hiding back on Wano, with strict instructions to return to O-Saki in Ebisu if the crew for some reason didn't return from Onigashima. You hoped at least one of the three crews would survive, both the Heart Pirates and Straw Hats were fond of Dawn so if at least someone survived, she would be okay. Not that you were planning on dying, fuck that.
A single gunshot ringing out over the ship ended the meeting quickly. The first assumption was that the ship was under attack, and Killer handed Dawn to Heat for protection. Heat's abilities were the least useful at the height of a naval battle, more useful for sinking ships towards the end of the fight, so Heat quickly hurried through the door that led to Dawn's small formly-closet room to keep her hidden. You used your powers as well to mask the two of them after giving both Heat and Dawn a chaste kiss and following the others out to the source of the gunshot.
Bubblegum came running from the back of the ship where the crew cabins were, a panicked look on his face. There were no enemies to be seen, no rival ships or air based Beast Pirates, only a panicked Bubblegum. You couldn't hear what he said to Kid, having been a little behind him and Killer to kiss Heat and Dawn, but the captain exchanged a concerned look with the first mate and the two of them started running. You hurried to follow them under deck, where Kid rushed to the door of Mohawk's room, using his devil fruit to unlock the door and rushing in.
The captain let out a roar of anguish from inside the room as he entered. Killer stood in the doorway, and stopped you with a short shake of his head and a raised hand before you could come any closer and see inside. That told you everything you needed to know. You'd know Mohawk was distraught at Double's death, but you didn't think he would go that far. You clamped your hands over your mouth to muffle the sob that tried to escape. First Double, now Mohawk. How many friends would Kaido take from you? How many of the people you loved had to suffer because of him?
Killer called for the crew that had gathered behind you to help Kid as he wrapped his arms around you, pulling your mask off so you could squish against his chest properly. You tugged at his shirt as your tears made dark spots on the royal blue. “Why?” you sobbed, “he survived! He could have gotten his revenge if he'd just waited!”
“Mohawk didn't want revenge,” Killer sighed, “he'd never been as angry as the rest of us, violence was never his thing. He just wanted his friend.”
“We're his friends!” You cried, “we're still here!”
“I know baby, I know,” Killer soothed, “Mohawk and Double were close, I don't think he thought he could live without him. There's nothing we can do now except get our own revenge and keep fighting in their memory. Mohawk made his choice, I imagine he thought he had no other option.”
Killer had Quincy and Hip take you away from the area and go back to Heat and Dawn before Mohawk was removed from the bedroom. You'd seen enough death in the last month, he didn't want you seeing this too when you'd known Mohawk well. He'd worked hard to train you as a nurse, you'd spent a great deal of time with him, and his death left you feeling broken. Heat didn't seem too surprised by the news, there was a time before you and Dawn where he would have done the same if he'd lost Wire. The two of you tucked Dawn into bed, then Heat held you while you sobbed. You'd held a lot of feelings back over the last month and now they were all bubbling over and pouring out.
One of the new crewmates, House, was a trained doctor, and you heard later that she did what she could to close Mohawk's wound and wrap his body in a respectful way. His body was kept in a cold storage in the hull of the ship; Kid wanted to give him a proper funeral, but it would have to wait until after Kaido. Eventually Killer joined you and Heat in your pile of sadness, followed by Wire and eventually Kid. With one night left before the Fire Festival and the raid, the five of you fell asleep together, limbs twisted together and bodies impossible to tell apart, just all trying to appreciate that you were all still alive and in one place. After all, there was no guarantee all five of you would make it out of Onigashima.
Kid made sure your crew showed up late in dramatic fashion, which was quickly followed by a dick measuring competition between the three alliance captains. The fight was looking tricky, it seemed like the samurai's ships had all been sunk or decided not to show up, until suddenly they appeared as a grand fleet out of nowhere, quickly taking down many Beast Pirate ships. Rain soaked the decks of the many ships as the battle went on, ship after ship sinking into the stormy waves. One of Momonosuke's retainers turned out to be a spy, and he sent a shower of ink-based arrows towards the alliance ships, which you shielded your crew from with a wall of high air pressure. That guy had given you the creeps anyway when you met him.
With only one Beast Pirate ship left, the captains each made their move to destroy it to claim the bragging rights, before it was suddenly speared by a column of water, glowing droplets shooting off from it. In the ruins a large fishman appeared. You recognized him from your days in the marines as the ex-warlord ‘First Son of the Sea’ Jinbe. He gave a grand speech, and announced his intention to join the Straw Hats, surprising everyone else. The Straw Hats all cheered in celebration for their new crewmate, and eventually the three crews, along with the samurai, brought their ships together to plan the raid in more detail, given the now confirmed numbers and the addition of the Kid Pirates. Kid wasn't interested in their plans, but Killer sent you over anyway to make sure your crew was kept in the loop.
Following the plan, you instructed Wire, who had taken over navigation in Double's absence, to follow the Straw Hats to dock at Onigashima. Surprisingly, the entire island looked like one large, horned skull, with Kaido's base enclosed within and a giant sword plunged into the surrounding hills. Only Kid had been here, but he'd spent most of that time in Kaido's personal prison cells like a lap dog, barely conscious for most of it. Your crew followed the others in, spooked for a moment at the amount of Beast Pirates in the dock before realising Kin’emon was using his devil fruit to disguise the alliance. As it was the night of the Fire Festival, Kaido's crew were distracted by partying, so the plan was to sneak in during the festivities. Between the flowing alcohol and disguises, they wouldn't even notice the alliance. At least for a while.
You led your friends through a large glowing circle with a small Wano style curtain that Kin'emon had formed with his garb-garb powers. Instantly your outfit was transformed, barely clothed now with an outfit that would fit right in with the Beast Pirates, who unfortunately for you seemed like a BDSM club with a penchant for practically naked women. Your visor was mostly the same - though now sporting two black horns - your hair was fashioned into a high ponytail, and you wore what would best be described as a bikini, a short cloak trimmed with purple fur, and calf high, heeled, deep purple boots. The bikini featured additional straps, forming a pentagram over your chest, with the bottoms having extra straps that ran over your hips. You frowned at the exposed outfit, not liking how the lower half of your slave mark, the scars on your back, and your surgery scar on your belly were showing, until you turned and saw the four commanders staring at you like they were about to start drooling. Maybe it wasn't so bad after all. You also had a set of black gloves, which you immediately pulled off since they made it harder to grip your katana and dagger. Your holsters and weapons remained as they were, just reskinned to darker purples to match your boots.
The men got their own drool-worthy outfits as they walked through the glowing circle - it was too bad there was no time for any extracurricular activities. Whether it was because they knew you were feeling a little exposed, or to protect you from wandering eyes, Heat and Wire stood at your front and back, blocking anyone's view of you. You laughed a little at the obvious shielding, it was adorable really.
“Boys, boys, there's enough of me for everyone,” you teased, playing with the straps that ran over Heat's chest as he crowded in front of you.
“Does it have to be so… skimpy?” Heat grumbled.
“Feeling territorial, are we?” You cooed, “it's only for a little while, and I'm sure there's plenty of girls inside that are dressed like this. I'll be fine, baby.”
Heat made an annoyed grumble under his breath, a small puff of black smoke leaving his mouth, but it was easy to get him to fold with pet names. Ultimately, he knew it was a necessary part of the plan. “Maybe if you're good I'll get a real copy of this outfit,” you continued. Now that cheered Heat up, his pupils going darker as Wire chuckled behind you. Heat was remarkably easy to tame, you and Wire knew it well. “I like your outfits too, very sexy,” you purred. The two of them puffed their chests in pride at your compliment.
You snorted a laugh as Killer came through the garb-garb circle with little horns stuck to his helmet, he looked ridiculous. The laugh was quickly replaced by a small unintentional moan at his rarely seen chest on display. Now it was Heat's turn to laugh, you were as predictable as always. Kid was the last to go through, and while you were pretty excited about his big tits being out, he was less impressed. You laughed as Luffy complimented him and Kid blushed like a schoolgirl. Kid complained, as expected, but Killer pointed out that these disguises were useful - it would allow you to all bypass any smallfry on your way to take down Kaido. Kid accepted that, he had one priority and it was to get to Kaido before Law or Luffy.
Luffy was quick to storm into the party, just as Law thought he would, and, again just as Law predicted, Kid went storming in behind him, refusing to be shown up. You and your boys followed behind, arriving in the crowd of loud, drunk Beast Pirates just in time to watch a tower being sliced in half and come crashing down, Roronoa Zoro at the top of it, scolding Luffy about red bean soup.
You, Heat and Wire exchanged confused looks. “Red bean soup?” Wire questioned, “How come they got mad over such a thing?”
“Is it something that triggers them?” Heat replied, scratching his head, “I don't get it.”
“You know, Big Mom was screaming something about red bean soup in Udon too,” you added, not that it answered any questions. What was with these people and their red bean soup?
“That group is hopeless,” Killer huffed, “I can't work with them.”
“It was impossible for those fools to keep a low profile in the first place,” Kid grumbled, continuing to move through the crowd with the rest of you on his tail.
“What should we do?” Wire asked.
“Forget it, we gotta keep moving,” Kid replied, “we're so close to them.”
“At this rate they'll still be fighting about red bean soup by the time we're done with Kaido,” you scoffed.
Awful scratches on a DJ set made you wince, and Kid stopped in his tracks and turned to look at the source of the sound.
“What's wrong, Kid?” Killer asked, having almost bumped into Kid's back at the sudden stop.
“It's my time! I'm gonna risk my life! Gotta send out good vibes!” the DJ rapped over the microphone. His voice was familiar and made you angry for some reason.
“This voice,” Kid replied with a smug laugh.
“Fuckin’ Scratchmen,” you growled.
The fighting on the dance floor was ramping up as Beast Pirates surrounded Luffy and Zoro, and Luffy sent a giant haki coated fist through the crowd. The ruse was definitely over at that point. Brilliant work Luffy, you lasted a whole three minutes before fucking up your cover. The orb of a man you'd seen fighting Big Mom in Udon took his place on a raised platform, bright lights shining on him as he grabbed a microphone.
“Today's the happy golden festival!” He sang out, “Catch them as a gift for me. I'm gonna eliminate someone from the Tobi Roppo and give the rat-catcher the vacant post!”
The crowd cheered at the announcement as your group followed Kid through a dark hallway along the sidelines of the dance floor, towards where Apoo was producing god awful tunes from his DJ booth.
“Hey, Kid, wait!” Killer pleaded. Luffy and Zoro may have given up their disguises, but your group still currently had the element of surprise on your side, unless Kid decided to fuck it up by taking on Apoo.
“I knew it was you, Apoo,” Kid barked angrily, mostly to himself. Killer sighed, seeing where this was going, and turned back to the rest of you.
“You three go figure out where Kaido is,” he ordered, “don't take him on yourself, come find us when you've located him.”
“Roger that,” Heat replied.
“Be safe,” you told Killer softly, touching his hand in a soft gesture and clinking your masks together quickly before following Heat and Wire further into the building.
The three of you made your way through the base, which was something like a traditional Wano castle and village all in one, sheltered under the giant skull you'd seen on the way in. Samurai had begun to flood through the base, and with Luffy and Kid causing chaos the jig was now up; everyone now knew a raid was underway. The three of you made it a little further before being found out, and you destroyed your disguises as you fought the Beast Pirates, the fur and leather disappearing in a puff of pink smoke.
After making your way through several hallways of enemies, the halls began to clear a bit. There was still no sign of Kaido though, and the base was turning out to be overwhelmingly large, with multiple floors to search. “We should split up,” you suggested, “we'll cover more ground.”
The boys agreed, Heat didn't like being separated from the two of you but after a short exchange of kisses from both you and Wire, he was able to be convinced that it was the logical choice. You made your way further into the base on your own, letting your katana do most of the work to conserve your fruit for bigger fish. At some point the entire island trembled like a great earthquake, and there was a brief moment of weightlessness as the whole base was lifted into the sky. You didn't like that - what goes up has to come down, and everyone you loved was either on this island, or on the land it was moving to hover above. There was nothing you could do about it now though, you had to trust that someone in the alliance had the means to stop this. Worst case scenario you could probably destroy the entire island if you had to, to protect those below like Dawn, but that was a last resort, and something you likely wouldn't survive.
Fire had begun to spread through the castle, limiting your options for where you could go. As you ran, bursts and pops of what sounded like awful music caught your attention. You growled to yourself, Scratchmen. You didn't know how he slipped out of Kid's hands, but you could certainly deal with him yourself. You weren't finding Kaido at this rate anyway, you wouldn't be surprised if Kid had already found him. You followed the music until you rounded a corner and spotted the long-armed man fleeing like a coward.
“SCRATCHMEN!” You roared. He stopped running and turned to face you, a smug smile on his face.
“There's the missing ship whore!” He laughed, “we wondered where you were, hiding on that island like a coward.”
“Me? A coward?” You spat, “I'm not the one who bent the knee to Kaido. You are the coward. And a fucking traitor. Do you have any idea what your new boss has done? I've lost friends, I've almost lost those I love most. Trusting you was a mistake!”
With a stomp of your foot you sent a wave of superheated air at him, like a blade that scorched the wood under it as it travelled. With wide eyes he quickly dodged the attack, hurriedly sending back an attack of his own. He sent a flurry of them, beat after beat, but you didn't relent. His attacks didn't reach you as you marched towards him, a barrier around you reflecting the sound waves he was trying to pierce you with.
“Dumbass,” you scoffed, “your fruit is useless against me, I can cancel out every sound wave you send at me. Fight me like a man, you useless cunt.”
Apoo quickly turned heel and began to run, realising he was out of his depth, but you were quick to pounce, using a burst of air under your foot to launch yourself at him. You could have killed him already, but you needed him to hurt. You needed him to pay for everything that had happened. For Double, for Mohawk, for the trauma Killer and Heat had to live with, for the month you spent not knowing if you would ever see your loved ones again. He screamed as you made contact, grabbing the middle section of one of his arms and blistering the skin under his clothes, before reversing your trajectory, using his back as a platform to jump back from as you unsheathed your blade.
His arm fell to the floor with a wet plap as he screamed and grabbed at the still attached bicep, blood dripping between his fingers. “YOU BITCH!” He spat from where he knelt on the floor. He left blood on his teeth as he once again tried to use his fruit to attack you, and you openly laughed at him - a cruel, dark laugh - as you stalked back towards him. You clicked your fingers for effect, and Apoo let out a shrill cry, clutching at his side before throwing up on the floor next to his dismembered arm.
“Don't worry, you've got another kidney,” you toyed, before clicking your fingers again, making him fall backwards and writhe. “Oops, guess not,” you laughed.
“Why are you doing this?” Apoo cried, “just fucking kill me already!”
“Why would I do that, when drawing it out is so much more fun?” You smirked. You ran a finger down his cheek, collecting a tear that leaked from under his glasses, his skin under your finger blistering as your finger trailed over it. “Fucking cry baby,” you scoffed, standing back up and crowding intimidating over him. He tried to stand, so you gave him a quick kick to the jaw, sending several piano key teeth flying. “I don't know why anyone would ever follow a ugly cunt like you. Your pathetic crew will be relieved when you're dead.”
You drove your foot down into his chest, using a miniature version of your Meteor Wave to burst one of his lungs and his stomach lining. He was now bleeding out into his chest, and his breathing was ragged and strained as he struggled to take enough air with only one lung. He had minutes to live, at most.
“I'm going to enjoy watching you die,” you laughed, watching him cough up blood and struggle to roll to his side with his remaining arm. You grabbed his ponytail and pulled him up by it, as much as you could anyway. Even sans one arm, he was a lot bigger than you, only adrenaline was allowing you to lift him as much as you did. “You think your torment ends here, you should be so lucky,” you said in a deathly quiet voice, “when I find my way to hell one day, I'll find you first. Enjoy your vacation while it lasts, because once I get there, every day for the rest of your eternity will be spent in unfathomable agony. Enjoy that gentle hellfire while you can, traitor.”
With one last pained wheeze, Scratchmen went limp, and you let his hair go with a scoff of disgust. His body crumpled on the floor with a thud, blood still pouring from it at the flames in the surrounding room slowly licked their way closer to you. You gave his body one last angry kick for good measure, before walking calmly away from the incoming fire, the flames slowly consuming Scratchmen's body behind you as you walked away.
Elsewhere in the castle, battles were still raging as fire continued to spread throughout. You slammed into a wall as the entire island suddenly tilted to the side, before righting yourself and continuing to jog in the general direction of where you assumed most of the fighting would be. Fire was making it difficult to navigate the halls, and you found yourself in the basement as the flames forced you downwards. There you found Brook and Robin, who likewise were having trouble finding an escape from the flames. Just as things looked truly desperate, a flood of water washed through the halls, dousing the flames but leaving you and the other two devil fruit users weak as the salt water drained. The three of you braced each other for strength as you stood and continued to make your way to your friends, stumbling as the castle once again tilted before righting itself.
A deafening crack of thunder rang through the base, followed by a powerful wave of energy and the floor under your feet suddenly bouncing as the island made contact with the mainland of Wano below. You didn't know where the island had landed, but given the somewhat gentle manner it came down with compared to the catastrophic disaster you had anticipated, you could only assume someone in the alliance was responsible, which gave you hope that the people of Wano, and Dawn among them, were safe.
Forced to your knees by the island’s sudden landing, you, Brook and Robin all stood again, but this time to the sound of speakers blaring an announcement over the entire base.
“It's no mistake you guys,” the voice over the speakers called out, a deep sense of relief and cheer to their voice, “Kaido has been sunk deep into the ground by Luffy! Onigashima's plummet was stopped by Momonosuke-sama in his giant dragon form! This vengeance-filled battle that started when Oden-sama died... we finally won!”
You looked to Brook and Robin, the three of you exchanging heartfelt hugs and joining in with the loud cries of victory that sang out over the island. There was a small tremor as Kaido's body caused an undersea volcano to erupt offshore, but you held steady to your friends. Over Robin's shoulder you caught sight of a familiar mane of blonde, and you let go of Robin to call out excitedly.
“Kil!” You shouted gleefully, “we won! We won!”
Killer turned slowly to the sound of your voice, and your breath caught in your throat. Where was his mask? But even more confusing, where was his smile? He looked at you, a forlorn expression on his face, his eyes turning to look away like he couldn't bear to meet your eyes.
“Kil?” You said with a shaky voice. Something wasn't right, you knew in your heart something wasn't right.
“Who are you talking to?” Robin asked, “a ghost, perhaps?” She said, in her usually unnerving way, meaning it as a joke.
“A ghost, indeed,” Brook said sadly, placing a skeletal hand on your shoulder. “I see him too, Yin-san. I wasn't aware your fruit allowed you to see ghosts too.”
“No, no that can't be right,” you replied, shaking off his hand and running towards Killer. “KILLER!” you screamed, “we won! Everything is going to be okay! We can go get Dawn and go back to the way things were! We can all be happy together again!”
Killer looked at you with a pained expression, a slight shake to his head that stopped you in your tracks. He couldn't be a ghost… that- that would mean he was dead. Gone. Removed from this world. He couldn't be, he couldn't be gone. You'd only just got him back, he couldn't be gone!
“WHERE?” you screamed, “WHERE?”
Killer's shoulders moved like he was sighing, but there was no sound, like someone had placed him in a bubble of silence. He nudged his head in a direction, and you took off running. Robin and Brook called after you, but you ignored them, tears streaming from your eyes as you sprinted. They blurred your vision and you tripped over a body you hadn't seen, hitting the ground hard, the wind knocked from your lungs.
You pushed yourself up from the floor, dazed, your hands and knees bleeding from the grazing impact, and on unstable legs you forced yourself to run again, until the hall opened out into a courtyard. You paused for a moment to scan the surroundings, before the roaring cry of your captain told you exactly where you needed to be. You shoved and pushed your way through the crowd, uncaring of who got hurt by your rough treatment, until finally the crowd opened up.
Heat and Wire stood at the side, Heat sobbing into Wire's chest as he held him, the rest of your crew likewise holding each other and crying. Killer lay lifeless on the floor, his head in Kid's lap, blood pouring from under his mask and coating his neck and the floor below him in scarlet. Kid looked up at you as you arrived, his face crumpling in pain as a new wave of tears took him and he balled Killer's shirt in his fists.
“He- he was fine,” Kid sobbed, “he was fine, and we were cheering, and- he just went down. They say he hit his head when he was fighting.”
Everything went silent around you. White noise buzzed in your ears, and you felt dizzy, taking a few unbalanced steps backwards as you tried not to pass out entirely. Wire was trying to speak to you, but you couldn't hear anything over the deafening buzzing. He hit his head? Was his head already weak because of the concussion you gave him? You knew it was a risk to knock him out again, that's why you'd refused to do it when he was still Kamazo. But you'd never even consider that someone else would do it. Was this your fault? Did you do this? “No,” you whispered, this couldn't be happening, it wasn't real, “no, NO, NO!”
Your final ‘no' was like a shockwave. It rang out like a battle cry, and in a burst of energy, everyone around you was sent flying backwards. Even Kid was forced back, like someone had grabbed him by the collar and yanked him away, Killer's body left untouched in the centre of a cleared circle as your crew tried to stumble back to their feet. A wall of transparent light built in front of them, shimmering lilac when they touched it, unable to pass through to where you stood in front of Killer's body in shell-shocked agony. Kid pounded on the wall, sending ripples of purple light through the shield, revealing it to be a full dome over you. He was screaming at you, but you couldn't hear him. It was silent inside the dome, almost peaceful.
Something told you to remove your mask, something deep inside that told you to let yourself go. You heard and felt every atom as they moved around you, and instead of feeling overwhelmed like you usually did, you embraced it. Turning your palms outwards, you closed your eyes and took a deep breath, letting yourself feel every small piece of energy in the air around you. You gathered it, from outside the dome as well, the energy following in glowing gold and blue and purple tendrils into your palms as you breathed steadily and let the energy embrace you. Bystanders weakened as you drew energy from them, a few weaker ones passing out as you drew too much.
“No,” you repeated again, softly, “no.”
Your eyes opened in a flash of light, all bystanders forced to shield their vision from it. When the light faded, you were standing over Killer's body, and in your hands you held a spear of pure lilac light, pulsating with the energy used to form it. Your hair, loose from its buns, flowed around you, weightless, as did Killer's hair which floated up from the floor like gravity no longer had a hold on it, fluttering around him like he was suspended in water.
Slowly, you raised the spear above him. Even Kid had stopped screaming and trying to get in, his palms against the dome as he watched, breathless at your appearance. You glowed in an ethereal way, light emerging from your back and forming two grand, mostly transparent wings, purple at their base before fading to blue and gold at the tips of the feathers as the wings spread out behind you. You looked like a goddess, like a heavenly being that didn't belong in this place, among pirates, among living, breathing men. Yet, there you were, in all your glory, spear held proudly, the tip pointed towards your lover.
“VALKYRIE SPEAR!” you screamed, before plunging the spear straight into Killer's chest.
Light burst from him, blinding everyone once again, a shockwave of energy forcing them all to their knees as the dome popped around you. The energy entirely drained from your body, and you collapsed, falling onto Killer below you. The wings and the glowing from your eyes, as well as the spear, all disappeared the moment the light bursting from Killer faded, the energy sucked back into him like a star imploding, until there was nothing left.
As those around you struggled to their feet, confused by everything that had happened, you felt your consciousness leaving you. In contrast to the great display of light you had just performed, now you saw darkness, creeping in on your vision until your eyes were too heavy to keep open. In your last moments of consciousness, you let yourself embrace Killer's still warm body, a tear dripping onto his shirt and darkening the blood splattered royal blue. Your ear to his chest, you heard a thump below you, then another, then darkness took you.

Love reading your thoughts on Laws character 🙏💯. Which kind of people do you think he wouldn't get along at all? What are his No-Gos he couldn't forgive?
This is another post grouping many different asks in one post! Please scroll lower for different questions!
Thank you! I love receiving such nice asks ❤ those few extra nice words besides just leaving a like really go a long way!
Which kind of people he doesn't get along with? I think there are a few factors to it rather than "certain types of people". First of all, let's take a look at Kid. He admits openly he kills anyone who makes fun or disagrees with him, and Law dislikes killing, because he's a doctor. So I guess he doesn't really like people who kill others like it's not a big deal. Coincidentally, in his first meeting with Drake that we see in the manga, Law mocks him by asking "how many people did you kill?".
Second of all, people who call Law a monster (or in Kid's case, talk shit about Law behind his back). Any time that happens Law ends up doing some nasty shit Hannibal-style like putting random limbs of people together, to show them who the real monster is (not him). Law might have a bad reputation (despite the fact he doesn't seem to actually kill anyone! Original owners of 100 hearts are apparently still alive, as well as every Marine Law fought against), and he might even play along with it to his benefit, but he's more compassionate than people give him credit for.
Third example would be people who don't respect their family or crews, or hurt children, or drug people to control and use them. Clearly family ties and his own crewmates mean a lot to Law, so people who go against their own blood, like Doflamingo, automatically are on his black list. It probably does help that Doffy is also a manipulator and I think Law has enough of people like that in general.
I would also say he dislikes bullies, but then he met Shachi and Penguin when they were literally bullying Bepo and later he still became friends with them. Which means nothing is truly set in stone for him and he might change his mind about people, as long as he understands them and their reasons a bit better. Well, I guess many people will disagree with my answer here, but that's my best guess. It's possible Law actually prefers people who are "good people", the same as Luffy.
Well well well... let's see, whenever people are dramatic around Law, how does he react? That might give us an answer why he "dislikes when people are dramatic".
In case of Tashigi, she was lashing out because she truly believed Law killed Smoker by ripping his heart off. She knew she's no match for Law, but she was hurting so much that all she could see were her own emotions and need for payback. Even if Law told her Smoker isn't dead there was a chance she wouldn't even listen, considering the state she was in. So what did he do? Ignore her pain? No, actually he switched her soul with Smoker's, so she could find out by herself that Smoker was fine and alive. That was his mercy. So, the answer would be: because when someone is dramatic it doesn't leave Law unaffected. He might act like he's beyond that and is just stoic and uncaring, but he is clearly anything but.
The same can be said when Bepo is super dramatic about his painful stomach in Wano. We know he won't die from it and will get better if he just listens to what Law tells him to do, but Bepo is exaggerating a lot there.
And the result? Law can't leave him alone, despite the fact he needs to manage the crisis situation with the Strawhats. The final result is disastrous and Luffy lands in Udon. Whenever someone overdramatizes their reactions Law has a hard time following his own plan and goals, he is ready to ditch everything. He says that Cora-san gave him a heart and that heart sure is very compassionate, and Law must be finding himself often in situations in which it backfires on him.
The same can be said about the situation with Shinobu who clearly exaggerates "whenever a ninja is caught, they take their own life or another ninja makes sure to kill them" and Zoro with his "this is my final attack. If it fails (and I die), the rest is up to you". Whenever someone is very dramatic it is somehow always very effective on Trafalgar Law. And he ends up doing whatever that person wants him to do. You want Law to do a certain thing? Just be dramatic about it, tell him you're dying (and be a good actor about it if you're faking), and he will do just about anything for you, lol.
I also elaborated a bit more about Law's weakness to cute things, which is also somewhat related to this, because the reason is the same: it appeals to his protective side.
Glad you liked it! I think Cora-san would indeed prefer for Law to just live his life any way he wants, he wouldn't even judge whoever he becomes in the future (a pirate, a marine, a village bum, a doctor), because Cora would be happy as long as Law is happy. He wants him not to feel limited anymore, for him to be free. Law aiming for revenge or dedicating 10 years to prepare a plan against Doflamingo would not be something Cora-san would be pleased with.
But if Law decided he wants the world government to pay for what it did to Flevance? I suspect Cora-san would actually support him in this. Because that's what Law chose himself to do, not for someone else's sake, and because it matters a lot to him. But would he still prefer him to chase after his childhood dream instead? For sure. For Cora-san Law is his hope, his legacy, his wish to do things right, that's why he would want Law to have the best life and live the longest possible. His love for Law is really beautiful, in a way it's the perfect family love, definitely up there with Bellemere's.
Hi, anon! I actually did write a bit about scenes with Law and Robin before. In case you didn't see it, I will leave you here with a link: https://www.tumblr.com/l-in-the-light/760794596720656384/. In first ask I analyzed their Wano and Dressrosa interactions, and in second ask below it I listed their similarities and tried to take a guess at how they would vibe with each other in the future.
Long story short, I really think Law did take some risk when he shared his hidden name with her, but he doesn't exactly trust Robin yet (which shouldn't be a surprise, they're both very reserved people, especially towards strangers!). Also fandom tends to forget that Robin and Law don't know each other's pasts. Law might know some stuff about Ohara, but Robin has no way to connect Law with Flevance unless he's the one to tell her about it. That link I left you with is all I've got for them for now, but who knows, I might be doing Law's relationships with each of the Strawhats (maybe as a series of posts) in the future. Of course besides Luffy, because I wrote already like 12 posts about Law with Luffy alone haha.
The simplest answer is: because Bepo is a mink, not a human. I know, I know, it sounds like the most boring answer ever, but that's how it is when it comes to Bepo and his special privileages of physical affection with Law. He's allowed to hug him, garchu him and touch him in general, and Law returns it by leaning on Bepo when he naps. Bepo is literally the only person Law allows so close to him, you don't see Shachi or Penguin touching Law.
Besides the physical touch, Bepo is also privileaged in few other areas, he seems to know Law is a D., for example, Law also told him about Flevance and probably more things about his past. But I'm sure Penguin and Shachi know all about it as well, all four of them are besties and they basically are friends since Law was 13. I guess any close friend Law would know for a decade (or more) would get the special privileages ;) tho it's probably also important that he met them so soon after losing Cora-san. They were there for him when he had no one left anymore.
When it comes to Bepo, Bepo likes to act a little like a younger brother Law would have to take care of. He's also a bit silly and has poor self-esteem, so it goes well with Law's protective older sibling side of personality. I think Bepo likes the attention so he might be occassionaly acting more immature or weaker than he actually is, just so Law pampers him a bit, lol. It's definitely very effective. But it's also mutual, Law seems to like to care for someone this way.
Some nice anon requested for me to write a seperate post about Law with his Heart Pirates, so when I get around to it, I will definitely try to elaborate on all the fun dynamics they share :)
He's definitely friends with Zoro. Zoro even wrapped an arm around Law in post-Dressrosa feast! Law also scolded him so openly in Wano, even holding him by his clothes like he's about to punch him (he would never though, so far Law has never punched anyone lol). Those two definitely grew quite close together. And in Zou they share a lot of comments with each other and when they both react to danger, Zoro says he will take this on himself, probably mindful of Law's arm that was still recovering.
And let's not forget that Zoro asks Law to take over the fight in the raid. We never saw Zoro trust someone *that much* before! Law even goes as far as saving Zoro a few times in that fight and gives him finally to Sanji (best person to leave Zoro with, 100%, no irony included, I swear).
Zoro trusted Law really fast, which is unusual for our resident strawhat swordsman. He was so suspicious of Robin, for example, but all it took for Zoro to hit things off with Law was one day in Dressrosa. Absolutely stunning. But not so surprising, he saw Law taking a blow from Doflamingo for the plan AND the strawhats at the same time, almost dying in the process, so of course that would earn him Zoro's respect. After all Zoro would do exactly the same, and Law did it despite the fact Strawhats aren't his own crew. Zoro probably sees Law as very responsible, daring (he aims to defeat Kaido, after all!), brave, respectful (towards the captain, Law never takes over for Luffy despite being older and more experienced!), protective towards people, serious and reliable. Those are all the traits Zoro would find very admirable. Zoro's faith in Law as a person who would take care of the Strawhats (to the point that Zoro has no problem leaving everything up to Law and just goes on a voyage around Wano) is really exceptional. It's like he believes in Law 100%.
Law on the other hand has a bit different experience with Zoro, I bet. He saw him being a great swordsman (so he earned some respect definitely), ready for sacrifices if needed and protective of others, kinda reserved but with good instincts and levelheaded most of the time, but also way too daring to the point he doesn't think too much about his own wellbeing, a bit lost and goofy (the whole Wano situation lol) and perhaps even a bit pushy (the last one is just my hunch, Law is even more reserved than Zoro after all and he wouldn't embrace anyone randomly like the latter did). If I would have to put it into just few words or one sentence, I would say that Law sees Zoro as someone he respects, especially in terms of strength and determination, but also someone he would worry about, because he tends to push himself way beyond his limits, endangering his own life all the time, and well, Zoro's gimmick of getting lost would definitely strike a protective side in Law as well.
That's why their relationship is a bit imbalanced, because it seems Law feels more inclined to take care of Zoro than Zoro feels the same for him. It's worthy to note tho that Zoro protected him in Dressrosa, even found his sword for him, when Law was the most vulnerable and immobilized thanks to seastone cuffs. I'm sure Law appreciated it a lot (he even says in Wano how important it is to trust your companions to have your back in the heat of the battle) and will not forget to return the favour as well, given the opportunity. He was probably also very touched when Zoro told him he's leaving things up to him. That kind of trust in Law's abilities and in him as a person feels very special.
They're also just two people who share quite a number of similarities. They're both rather deadpan, dislike emotional outbursts, are both levelheaded and logical (sometimes to the point of being dreadful, after all both Zoro and Law told Usopp to "just die" rather than betray the cause lol), and reserved. Might be why they get along so well together, they just share similar vibes. I totally adore their friendship! I wish more people would notice it. But then I wish more people would notice Law's friendship with Strawhats in general, not just with Luffy. He totally treats them as his second crew and I will die on this hill!
Maybe I really need to write those posts about Law and his friendships with the Strawhats.
Actually, yes. I think he is absolutely trash at opening to people, so he definitely needs people he can take care of, because they slip right under his defensive walls (and he can be a total impenetrable fortress otherwise). Just compare Law's first encounter with Luffy when he thinks Luffy is strong, independant and has a great crew, he totally believes Luffy doesn't need him in any way so Law acts super detached. Yeah, he talks with Luffy, but as soon as Luffy declares him as his rival, Law retreats without as much as a word. But when he sees Luffy helpless and dying in Marineford, suddenly it's Law who reaches out towards him. And it stays that way also in Punk Hazard. That's because Law realized Luffy is reckless and needs someone to watch over him (not even his own crew is able to do that at all times).
It's actually really hard to imagine him opening up or getting along with people who he thinks don't need him in any way. We have literally no canon example of that. Even Cora-san appealed to Law's protective side, because he was a total klutz who sets himself on fire by accident all the time. Even Kin'emon, with who Law became friends with, is a bit goofy and not very smart, so it's easier for Law, because he can help and protect him. This is all related to the fact that Law just really wants to save people, it's his "new" call in life after losing Flevance and Cora-san. Who knows what would become of Law if he never met Penguin, Shachi and Bepo, another people he could take care of and who care for him back?
This might be one of the reasons why Law also doesn't get along well with Kid, until he observed him actually acting like a child, not really thinking strategically. Kid's idea of proving his worth is just to punch the opponent till they can't get up again. The moment Law realized that he started cooperating with Kid, even protecting him by distracting Big Mom in their fight. Without the Hawkins gimmick with the voodoo doll and Kid's bull/hippo attacks Law wouldn't do a thing for him. Law actually doesn't interact with many people canon-wise (you can easily count them) and it's a constant proof that he just wouldn't reach out to people or would even avoid them in general.
And sure, you can argue that Heart Pirates aren't strong so that's why Law keeps them around, because he feels responsible for them. But if you look at Strawhats, not every Strawhat is super strong either. Take Nami or Usopp or Chopper for example. They're good at what they're good at, but they can't deal with strong opponents at all. I would say it's kinda the same with Hearts, they're good at what they're good at, but definitely can't take on Kaido, Big Mom, not even Queen or King. But it doesn't mean they're just cheerleaders. The fact that they respect and love their captain so much is seperate from their actual fighting skills, imo. It's to show how much they appreciate, look up to and love him as their captain. Law might not have many friends, but those that he does keep close to him end up very dedicated to him. He definitely can attract people towards himself, he just doesn't. Unless they need him. It's not that unusual in people with strong survivor's guilt to behave in such ways that Law does.
I mean, I think I wrote a lot about it here: https://www.tumblr.com/l-in-the-light/761478106370424832/
The only reason I didn't elaborate on in that post was their first meeting, which clearly rubbed Law the wrong way. Kid literally talked behind his back about him and Law didn't enjoy that (he even flipped his finger at him). He hates when people call him a monster. Kid also called out Law on his "bad manners", and that must have triggered him, because that's exactly how Vergo talked to Law, always scolding him for not adressing him with "mister". Kid might have thought he's telling Law a compliment, but Law definitely did not think it was one. Law hated their interaction so much that he couldn't stand the thought of Kid doing any sort of favour for him (taking care of the Marines outside the auction house), and besides complaining about ordering him around, he refused to talk to Kid at all.
It was the same in Wano, Kid literally had to mock and tease him to get any sort of reaction out of him. Seems when Law holds a real grudge, it runs deep. But once he knows the person a bit better he can get over it. He just didn't have occassion for that with Kid before and also probably wasn't very interested in him either, before he learned Luffy friended him and basically dragged him to the raid as well. Surprise! So Law had to learn how to interact with him as well, and at first he wasn't exactly nice to him anyway, even dodging Kaido's attacks, uncaring that they will fly right towards Kid lol. By the end of their co-op fight against Big Mom Law grew a tiny bit fonder of Kid, I guess. Just a tiny bit.

What is your favorite quality about Kidd?
My favorite quality of Kidd’s is his heart. He has so much pent up love and devotion that pours into every aspect of his life but it’s something that’s indecipherable at first glance. He cares for his crew like family and would do any and every thing in his power to provide for them. He cherishes his little found family to a degree that even his ship is named after a lost friend from his childhood. He carries that weight on his shoulders so much so that he actively made it a part of his day to day life. Each and every time someone mentions or interacts with the ship, they’re also mentioning and interacting with Victoria which ultimately keeps her as a part of his life in a very meaningful way.
The incident with Killer during their reunion at the Udon prison camp was the first major look we got at his personality outside of the typical scenarios of piracy. Killer felt like he was damaged goods, keeping himself at a distance to avoid the rejection that he expected from Kidd and the crew, meanwhile Kidd was begging and pleading for Killer to just talk to him. It posed a very interesting dichotomy that while Kidd is a brutal and intimidating pirate, he is just as equally attached to his loved ones and cherishes the people he cares about.
He told Killer that he’d send anyone who dared to laugh at him to hell and every Kidd Pirate readily laughed alongside Killer to make him feel more comfortable. That whole interaction with the crew immediately coming together for one of their loved ones is a reflection of Kidd, his values, and his leadership as a Captain. I think that Kidd and the others would do the same thing for any of their crewmates, no questions asked. If they were only heartless brutes, compassion for Killer would’ve been lost on them but it wasn’t. ♡

Childhood Crush
Chapter 13: Cobalt
Killer x gn!reader
word count: 2.4k
a/n: since i was gone longer than usual and gave a good cucking - HAVE ANOTHER AYEO cucking, i mean
next
When you came to and made your way out, the blizzard stopped. The night was still - no wind, no noise. Just the quiet snow and the light of the moon illuminating the glittering landscape. You stood there for a moment, just enjoying the silence. You let out a long sigh, closing your eyes and letting your head fall back. You were already exhausted. Why did Myra send only you? She had seemed pretty adamant about you going alone. She wouldn’t spare anyone else. Did she know something you didn’t?
Your mind then drifted to the crazy guy from earlier. What even was his deal? His face flashed in your mind and you groaned. That unnatural grin couldn’t be…on purpose. It almost looked as if some invisible force was pulling it - pulling it to that unnatural state. It couldn’t be comfortable. Even still, he felt familiar. You couldn’t place why.
You opened your eyes, sighing once more and watching as the clouds from your breath traveled up then to the ground. There wasn’t a lick of wind like earlier. You looked down at your arm. You needed to get that taken care of for sure. You couldn’t lose another arm. Sure, you could probably just make another armband, but you’d honestly rather not.
Thankfully, due to the still of the night, you did hear running water. You followed the noise and soon discovered a small river. At least it wasn’t frozen.
Some time later, you had a small fire going and were boiling water. You cut off a piece of your cloak, dipping it in your now clean water. You hissed softly as you began to clean up your wound, soon enough stitching it up. You were glad you always carried around a small stitch kit just in case. It was essential to you at this point.
Once you were all patched and warmed up, you set off again.
--
Finally, you made it to a village. The Flower Capital to be specific. You needed to gather some information about Kaido and his castle. You couldn’t just go in blind. This was a stealth mission, not a strength contest. You stood no chance anyway. You knew your limits and you weren’t dumb.
The intel you obtained was a lot. Twenty years of constant downfall. These poor people just couldn’t catch a break. When would their suffering end? Soon, you hoped.
The information that pertained to you, however, was that it seemed that Kaido was going to be throwing some kind of party for an alliance he was having with Big Mom. Great. Two yonkos in one place. Just fantastic. Not only that, all of the beast pirates were apparently going to be there. Fanfuckingtastic. Just what you needed. Though, if you just found some kind of disguise and laid low, you should be just fine. You’re just getting some flowers after all. No need to stress about fighting. No one was going to question you just picking flowers.
Make fun of you, maybe, but nothing more.
“Yeah, I heard that the prison in Udon is holding that Strawhat captain now along with that Kid Pirate captain.” Your neck could have snapped with how fast your head turned. You noticed two people talking and walked over. “I heard the same thing,” you lied, sitting on the bench with the other two. They looked at you for a moment, but didn’t seem to dwell on you for long.
“I heard the Strawhat tried to take on Kaido and was easily defeated.” The woman laughed softly. “That’s what happens when you end up too big for your britches and try to fight a yonko, I guess.” The other woman laughed and you joined in.
“Yeah, it’s crazy,” you say, trying to fish for more information. “How long has that Kid guy been there anyway at this point?”
“Oh, I think it’s been a bit at this point. Kaido captured the whole crew. My husband heard it from a Beast Pirate. Boasting about it, he was.” Your heart sank. Caught the whole crew? Panic set in. Were they alive? Were they dead? Were they being held in the same place? It didn’t sound like it. You needed more information, but you knew you wouldn’t get too much from the two ladies without drawing suspicion.
“Well, at least they’re locked up. We don’t need more pirates terrorizing us. We’ve been through enough,” the other woman said. You nodded along with them, making a little more idle chat before bidding farewell and leaving.
Well, now to figure out where the hell Udon is. And what prison they were talking about. Though, you weren’t sure how old that information was either.
As if the universe was granting you some kind of mercy, you heard another tidbit of information.
“I heard there was a breakout at the Udon prison.” You glanced over, seeing a couple Beast Pirates talking this time. “That Strawhat guy and that Captain Kid guy.” You felt your heart breathe a sigh of relief to hear your brother was able to get out of there. But…where the hell was he now? You didn’t even know where to begin searching for him. You knew he wouldn’t stay in one place long and knew the first thing he’d do is get his crew back.
The only thing you could do was just continue with your own mission. Surely you’d run into him eventually. Besides, he was your brother, he was probably just fine. With a deep sigh, you decided what to do next.
Now, you just need to head to Onigashima. Simple enough. You just…needed to find your boat…and…fuck. Which fuckin’ port you come in on? You should’ve paid more attention to your surroundings and where the hell you were going. Though, taking your own boat over to Onigashima was probably also not very smart. You should probably just sneak on one of their own ships in disguise. Yeah, that checked out. That was a better plan.
Turns out, most of the Beast Pirates were absolutely dense. They were not bright. All it took was knocking one out and changing clothes and they were none the wiser.
When you actually made it to Onigashima - things didn’t get any easier. You thought it would for a moment, only to find out there was some kind of huge fight going on. Well, shit. Now what were you supposed to do? You ended up getting swept into a crowd of rushing people heading into the castle. Well shit, that’s the opposite of what you wanted. You wanted the outside not the inside.
You eventually broke away from the crowd, grumbling as you did so. You straightened yourself out, heading towards the place where you had entered from only to suddenly feel the entire place begin to quake. You lost your footing, crashing to the ground as did a lot of other people. Shouting began and everyone started looking around.
Once the ground stopped shaking, you stood up, heading over to the nearest window. “Are we in the fucking air?” you mumbled to yourself. That was absolutely insane. What was Kaido’s plan with this one? Actually, you still weren’t even sure what the hell was going on. As far as you know a fight broke out during a party and that’s it. You had no idea who was involved or why it was happening.
“I can’t believe it either.” You looked over, seeing another Beast Pirate. “I don’t know if you’ve heard, but apparently the Strawhats, the Kid Pirates, and the Heart Pirates are all here trying to take down Kaido and Big Mom, so get ready for a lot of fighting.” You stared at him. “Huh?”
“Good luck, soldier,” he called as he ran off.
You just stared after him. “He’s going after another fucking yonko?” you yelled to no one in particular. With all the commotion, no one really noticed anyway. You took off your helmet for a moment, running a hand through your hair. This was absolutely ridiculous. What the hell was Eustass thinking?
Well, at least that answered the question of where he was. It was only a matter of finding him now. At this point, you forgot about what you had originally come here for. Your only goal now was to find Eustass and demand to know what’s going on…or at least know he’s okay. You still couldn’t believe he was targeting a yonko. Was he trying to lose another arm?
With a dramatic sigh, you started to navigate the halls. Fights were broken out left and right. You did your best to stay out of all of them. You didn’t particularly care one way or another how they would end up. None of this was any of your business…well…if you rejoined your own crew then you supposed it was.
Ugh, you’d figure out the details later. You really needed to stop overthinking things - it was giving you a headache.
During your search, you stopped dead in your tracks as you saw a familiar tuft of red hair. A large smile spread across your face as you honed in on what you saw. There he fucking was - your brother. Eustass fucking Kid. And, as always, Killer wasn’t far from him. You felt a heat creep onto your cheeks as you looked at the man you’ve had a crush on since childhood. Did he get bigger? Motherfucker yoked up. Your brother too. Damn, what the fuck did they do when you were gone? Take steroids? Damn.
Your heart was pounding in your ears with excitement. So much excitement, in fact, that you didn’t exactly notice the state they were in. Now that the initial shock of seeing them had passed, you noticed the rough shape the both of them were in. You had something that could fix that - you just had to get to them first.
You moved quick, taking your enemies out one by one in rapid succession. Soon enough, all that was standing in your way was Eustass and Killer. “What are you doing?” One of the fallen pirates asked in a strained voice. “Are you betraying us?” You just looked down at him, licking your teeth. You looked back to the two in front of you, tossing them what looked like some kind of protein bars.
“Eat those,” you said.
Eustass just glared at you. “Why the fuck would I listen to someone who just killed their own men?” he demanded. You blinked, confused on why he didn’t recognize you. Then it dawned on you. The helmet covering your face. Right. Plus, what were the odds you’d be here anyway? You were about to take your helmet off when you noticed someone creeping up on your brother.
With a sigh, you threw one of your daggers, flying right past Eustass’ head and straight into the skull of the man behind him. “You really need to be aware of your surroundings, Tungsten,” you said with a dramatic sigh.
His eyes widened in disbelief and his whole body went rigid as the nickname left your mouth. You took off your helmet, tossing it to the side. “Ugh, that thing was awful.” Honestly, you didn’t know why you wore it as long as you did. Maybe to make people leave you alone? You weren’t sure at this point.
“What?” Your brother’s voice was soft, full of disbelief. You looked at Eustass, confused. “Is that all you gotta say to me?” Though, with the look on his face, you could tell that he was still dumbfounded. He definitely couldn’t believe his eyes. “What? You think I was dead?” You snorted.
“Like I said, eat those bars. It’ll take a couple of minutes, but you’ll completely recover. However, it’s the only one you’ll be able to have today so make it count, yeah?” It was something you had developed while you were on the island. Medicines were your specialty, after all.
They looked at each other before looking back at you. “Bigs?” You looked at him and nodded slowly. “...Yes? Are you still on that?” Now that you thought about it, Eustass did look pale. As if he had seen a ghost. He slowly stepped towards you before taking you in his arms and holding you tightly. “Uh…Tungsten?” you asked, patting his back. “As much as I love you and love your affection, I can’t help but feel like I’m missing something.”
“Kese said you died.” You froze at the mention of his name as your own mind started to spin. “H-He what?” You pulled away from Eustass, looking at him. You searched for a lie in his face, but there was none. There was, however, a lot of emotion that he was holding back. Probably holding it together because you were in public and somewhat in the middle of a war.
You blinked, looking from him, to Killer who hadn’t even moved so much of an inch or said anything, back to Eustass. You shook your head.
“This is something we can process and go over later,” you said, knowing you needed to move things along. “I’m well and alive, obviously. I’m just here originally for a mission for the labs, but it seems like there’s a lot of unsettled business I’ll need to attend to. So.”
You look at them, stepping back and putting your hands on your hips. Once more, you were taking your authority as an older sibling. “This is the plan, yeah?” They nodded, looking at you, ready to listen. “You two are going to eat those bars and do whatever it is you need to do. I’m going to finish my own side mission that I was sent on. This is all gonna end and we’re gonna meet up later, alright?” They nodded again, opening their bars.
“And none of us are going to die, got it?” You had a firmer tone this time and again, they nodded. You could tell they were still absolutely floored that you were before them. Why would Kese tell them that you died? What the hell was his angle at this point? Why did he want you out of the picture so damn bad? You didn’t even fucking know the guy.
You could figure all that out later, right now you had shit to do. You smiled at the both of them. “Alright. We have a plan, now quit standing there like a couple of idiots and get going.” With that, you winked and hightailed it out of there.

Is there any other character among my crew who is more fitting to celebrate the half year mark than the Guardian of Time & Space, Atropos? I doubt it.
The grumpy old man and his loyal pipe fox Udon trying to find a calm spot, he still regrets he put the Storyteller and Pierre in charge together, they ... cause him more than one headache.

‘If it’s you….’ Part 1
Killer x FemReader
Sypnosis: You're one of the Strawhats, and after hearing the news about your captain being caught and imprisoned by Kaido, you join Raizo in infiltrating Udon to save him. There, you again met the man you've been obsessing with for a long time since you saw him for the first time in Sabaody. However, you discovered what happened to him, and you sure as fuck won't let it slide. No one's messing with your Milý and gets away with it.
WC: 2,333
A/N: One Piece is the beautiful creation of the genius Eiichiro Oda-sensei. It has heavy *spoilers* for the Wano Arc since the context revolves around Udon Prison. Please remember that the flow of the story is just a fantasy in my head, and English is not my mother tongue.

Luffy was defeated by Kaido and was imprisoned in Udon. Raizo, a member of the Ninja-Pirate-Mink-Samurai Alliance that your crew was a part of, plans to infiltrate the Udon prison to save him, and you won't pass the chance of joining in. The plan was to enter the prison, find Luffy, and escape as quickly as possible before anyone could find out.
That WAS the plan.
But since Luffy is your captain, plans sometimes work differently than intended. You've got stuck in Udon with the person you're supposed to save, and Raizo is nowhere to be found.
"You're not even going to give me something to eat?!" Luffy whines beside you.
The escape plan failed, and Queen, who ruled the prison, forced Luffy to join a Sumo match he started for entertainment. So, both of you fought the whole day.
"I'm hungry..." his stomach growls on cue.
"Shut up and go to sleep!" says one of the Beast pirate members guarding you three while staying in the makeshift arena.
You shot a glare at him, hoping he'd drop dead only if shooting daggers could kill. You saw him shudder and quickly turn his back on you. 'That's right. Be scared. 'cause once I get the chance, I'll dice you all into fine pieces.'
Luffy continues to whine about turning into a mummy by the next day if he doesn't get something to eat and you can do nothing but sit quietly. Old man Hyo stepped closer to him and apologized for being a hindrance on the escape mission.
"Don't worry about it, gramps," you stated. Putting both your hands at the back of your head. "It was the captain's decision, and honestly, it'll leave a bad taste in my mouth knowing that we left you behind." you finished. Old man Hyo clenched his fist. He was still visibly guilty and probably blaming himself, thinking it was his fault you and Luffy couldn't get out of there on time.
"But still, Y/N-dono, you could've gotten awa-" You shushed him, waving your right hand, gesturing to stop. "It doesn't matter now, is it? It wasn't that bad. I haven't beaten people up for quite a while, so it's a fun time." You grinned. The old man looked at you unexpectedly and shook his head in defeat.
"Strawhat..." He called Luffy. "Why do you still want to fight Kaido? Knowing that you lost to him once already?"
As if on reflex, the Beast pirates around you all turned towards the three of you after hearing what the old man said. Curious to know the answer. Your captain got annoyed and released a wave of his conqueror's haki to knock them all down. He then proceeded to explain the four emperors of the sea to the old man and that Kaido was one of them.
"I'm going to become the king of the pirates, so I have to take them all down." Luffy finished with conviction.
You smiled widely. You've heard it countless times, but the ecstatic feeling it gives you doesn't get old. It brought back memories from before you became an official part of the crew.
*Flashback*
"Oi, Y/N! Join my crew!" you almost drown yourself in the glass of water you're drinking to the sudden outburst of the guy beside you. Whipping your head towards him with furrowed eyebrows, giving him a look like he grew an extra head, you retorted, "And what-in-the-holy-meatballs made you think I would want to play pirates with you? More or else BECOME a pirate?!".
"What? It'll be fun, I swear!" raising his right hand as if to promise. "Sanji's the best cook, and you'll enjoy all the dishes he'll serve! We can even have different eating contests occasionally.", he babbled.
Just thinking about it made you salivate.
Tempting…
It's really, really tempting...
But… "No, Thank you!".
As much as you're tempted by the idea of eating the 'best' dishes this Sanji person can cook, just thinking about living with a diverse group of individuals on a ship and floating for days in the vast sea made you cringe. You're okay with being alone, going from one place to another since social gathering is not your cup of tea. Being alone gives you freedom, not to mention the peace of mind of not causing trouble to anyone. Aside from being a petite woman with a huge appetite, you have no exceptional talent to boast. You only have an appetite that surpassed even this guy’s, the reason he lost to you in this meat-eating competition where you met.
Standing up, you gathered your things and swiftly left the place without turning back. You thought that was the last time you'd see the guy, so you brushed it off as an uncanny encounter. 'He's a pirate, so they'll probably leave this island immediately.' you forethought.
Boy, were you wrong! Because for the next couple of days, you always 'coincidentally' bumped into each other, and a series of back-and-forth barrage of why you should be joining his crew and why you shouldn't would always start. And the rest was history…
*End of Flashback*
You’re unsure if it's his persuasion, hidden charms, or just him being Luffy that you finally said 'Yes' to join his crew. Whatever it may be, you surprisingly never regretted it.
Your trip down memory lane was cut short when a mud-like entity appeared behind old man Hyo. It was Caribou, and on his stomach was Raizo, much to the old man's surprise. Questions were fired at the ninja, and he happily answered and explained to the old man what had been happening.
What was awesome was when Caribou stole Queen's share of Red Bean Soup!
"Fucking food finally! I was already thinking about chopping one of the Beast pirates." you nonchalantly said, which earned you weirded-out looks from Raizo, Caribou, and the old man. "Relax.", you said. " 's a joke.", and you smiled innocently at them. They can only nervously laugh at the awkward atmosphere while Luffy, knowing you, just laughs off his head.
************************************************************************
The next day, Kaido shared some news with Queen. Komurasaki, the famous Oiran of the flower capital, died. Queen was devastated and hurriedly commanded to hook up the light-scroll snail to confirm the news. Your team, on the other hand, was so eager to start the sumo match.
"Did you idiots gain weight from yesterday?!" Queen was astonished. Eyes popped out after seeing Luffy and the old man, all plump and round than they were yesterday. 'Stupid captain,' you scratched your head in annoyance. 'I told him to eat only enough to regain his strength. Not to the point of bursting!' The beast pirates probably know by now that Queen's casserole of Red Bean Soup was missing, and the culprits are not too hard to guess.
You pinched the bridge of your nose like it would help stop the upcoming headache. "I also think finishing all that soup was too much. I'm surprised he survived this long as a captain." Caribou muttered. "Well, that's Luffy for you." is all you can say.
The light-scroll snail was rolling, showing a place somewhere in Wano. Queen was frantically looking for any signs or news about Komurasaki but to no avail. The view was changed from one place to another until it showed a scene where Zoro and Sanji saved a little girl.
Both you and your captain's face lit up. You excitedly run towards the arena, propping yourself up to stand behind your captain and to get a clearer view of the scene. Everything happened so fast, and now your crew was all in combat mode. "Go get them, guys! Kick their dirty asses!" you cheered even though they won't hear you. Arms stretching upwards.
Queen looked at you and asked if you knew the green-haired man shown on the screen. It was Zoro. ‘Shoot!’ You should have remembered. You shouldn't know that you knew them as part of your crew's disguise. The excitement of seeing everyone again and in action had you slip the crucial details in your mind. Luffy turns to you with knowing eyes, and you both 'tried' to deny the fact. Lips pouting, eyes looking elsewhere in an attempt to lie.
Unfortunately, you two sucked at lying, "It's too obvious, you liars!" Queen hissed. Clicking your tongue in annoyance, you couldn't care less about the consequences. To hell with the disguise! Everything was already fucked up since the escape mission failed. You’re almost at your limit anyway, and the itch of wanting to go wild is growing stronger by the minute. You focused your attention back on the screen instead. You have already decided that when all hell breaks loose in here, that’ll be your cue to go on a rampage. But for now, you’ll simply enjoy watching your friends break some legs.
In your peripheral vision, you saw one of Queen’s underlings approach him. You used one of your hidden skills to make out whatever he’s reporting.
Ultrasonic hearing.
Sounds cool, right?
Of course, it is. After all, you put so much effort into naming this skill in another fancy way to mask the truth that it was only talent in picking up gossip. So helpful in hunting new delicacies.
Kidding aside, you heard Babanuki speak about a criminal arriving soon from the Flower Capital. Queen seems not to expect any new prisoners and is curious about who they might be.
Not long after, Udon Prison's main gate opened, and more of the Beast pirates walked in. You noticed one of them on a horse carrying a vertical red flag with the words ‘HITOKIRI.’ Queen asked who it was. “He’s a piece of garbage that couldn't complete a mission given by the Shogun of the Flower Capital,” answered Babanuki.
“We have a message from Orochi saying that we can punish him however we like.” announced the man leading in front of the newcomers. “We brought you, Hitokiri Kamazo!” he shouted.
The prisoner started laughing manically, and you turned your head in his direction for some reason. Escorted was a tall man wearing a brown kimono, blonde hair, and a face covered with bandages. The only visible features you’ll see are his eyes and purple-colored lip. ‘Nice fashion sense.’
“Oh, so you’re Kamazo? I’ve heard a lot about you.” - Queen.
The prisoner continues laughing, not giving a shit about what the baboon said.
“We also caught another one,” another beast guy added. “This one was stupid enough to show himself to us while yelling something. So, I shot him multiple times and didn’t even try to run.” the guy laughed.
Much to the surprise so far, the other prisoner turns out to be Eustass Kid, captain of the Kid pirates. He was holed up in the same prison cell as Luffy, and when you’re trying to escape the other night with your captain, he beat you all to it. ‘What the hellhole do you think you’re doing, you Oni (demon)!’ You can’t help but think you’re surrounded with morons.
Luffy called out to Kid. He stood beside you, and you didn’t even notice. The shock on his face after seeing his fellow captain being brought back inside was evident. You turn your attention back to Kid, now kneeling on the ground. ‘Hey, what’s going on.’ Confused by his sudden action, you started to move toward the kid pirate’s captain, but Luffy stopped you. You looked at him, and he wasn’t even looking at you. He still has his attention on Kid. However, his grip on your wrist says otherwise. It was firm enough to tell you not to do anything. Yet.
You sighed, then nodded at Luffy; only then did he release his grip on you. Looking back at Eustass Kid, you saw an expression you never thought you’d see in him. Mixed emotions danced throughout his face, but bewilderment was more prominent.
He spoke to the other prisoner, Kamazo, who was still manically laughing. “Oi, what happened? Why are you laughing?! Stop! I said stop!” tears started forming in his eyes. He continued, “I remember how you hate the way you laugh…” staring at Kamazo but more like seeing a distant memory of the past, “...and you even stop laughing out loud at some point.”
Jerking your head to the side, thinking, ‘I’ve heard this before.’. It was somewhat familiar, but you can’t remember where or when you heard about it.
“Anyone who mocked the way you laughed was easily beaten to death.” - Kid
Then it hit you.
Your body froze.
An unwelcoming chill runs down your spine.
The next thing you knew, your lips moved, mouthing what Kid said, like you knew the next thing he’d say, like the back of your hand.
“Until you started wearing a mask to hide your face.” - You
“Until you started wearing a mask to hide your face.” - Kid
“No shit..” was what followed after the statement came out of your mouth. Blood ran cold, and your hands started to tremble out of control. You couldn’t believe it. You were just guessing and were instead hoping you were mistaken.
Now crying, Kid said, “That’s the person I knew. So please stop.” his tears flowed freely down his face. He’s hurt and in rage, and so are you. Your lips quivered to suppress the waterfall about to burst at the sudden realization. ‘What in the actual fuck…’
“Stop and look at me! What happened to our crew?! What happened to you?! Did Orochi do this to you?! Answer me!” Kid yells back at Kamazo with enraged eyes,
“Killeeeeeer!!!”
Hearing the confirmation made your eyes wide and your body tremble. The person you long to see after a long time is standing a few feet away from you. As much as you want to jump for joy, whatever you’re feeling right now is far from happy nor sad but rage. This is not the reunion you’re expecting to have with him.

How do you think about the behavior between kid (pirates) and other crews? Thinking about Kids words "don't get cozy with the others" 🤔
Frankly I think everyone and their mother knows he's not being serious about it.
Or rather, he's posturing.
Kid's trust in others is so thin it's see-through, and I feel like that was even before he was betrayed by Apoo and Hawkins. But the three crews had just finished successfully working together, relying on one another, and keeping the entire fight afloat.
Even Kid had to put his trust in Luffy, and aside from some time in Udon together, he'd only seen him 2 years ago in Shabody.
If there was real animosity there, I don't think he'da waited around for the whole "choose which direction" scene or stuff like that. Even when he tried to attack Luffy, Luffy knew it was so half-hearted he just hugged the man.
So, I think things between those three crews are as neutral neutral-good as they can get for rival pirate crews.

Captain's food rolls
A/N: This is me trying out writing again, seeing the scene where Kid and Luffy eat a bunch of mochi in Udon gave me an idea. This work feels very goofy for me lol, this whole post is silly, including the pics, I think I'm gonna use this format for now
Word count: 1,3k
Contents/Warnings: Silliness ahead, two lovers being silly. Next up is a law draft ig, either law or killer or heat
The sand under your boots is a comforting contrast from the crass waves of the sea, rumbling and coming near your feet - but not reaching quite yet.
It's unusual, but today is a great day, after a great battle against many marine ships, that you honestly wouldn't dare count, the Kidd pirates share a feast and drinks in a pacific island (even though Kidd scored the secluded place with no 'pacific' methods).
What is unusual, you would ask? Well, normally on the day-to-day of the Kidd pirates, meals are fulfilling, but not so much as to be bloated after eating. Of course, the massacre soldier – and crew's chef – Killer goes great lengths to make sure every member eats well and has a chance of asking for more, but still, in the sea you can ever eat so much, food needs to be watched so the ship doesn't run out again.
In a banquet, though, it's highly different.
The other pirates were kind – terrified – enough to make the beach look very presentable, placing up lighting upon the coconut trees and laying out tables for your friends to enjoy. It looks like some sort of luau, an illuminated beach next to the pitch black ocean, with lots of barbecued meat and endless pitchers of beer. The crew is scattered over the place, most of them are still eating, a few went down the city to find a pretty face to sleep with, and some of them who've had enough of eating are busy playing cards, such as Heat and Wire – you can always observe how they finish eating together, and go kill time together, it's a heartwarming friendship (or more?) between pirates, very similar to the captain and his right hand man.
Speaking of which, during these celebrations, the captain's table is always at the center, a big round table where he can lay down plates and food to scarf down as the night goes on. You observe the captain, aka your lover, fill his belly with delicious meat and booze, a small smile forming on your lips as you know what to expect when the party ends.
It's when something unusual happens, and you can't help but feel giddy.
"Your social energy has ended already, Y/N?" A pair of crewmates join your table, more specifically Hip and Emma, who also seem to huddle together whether to dance or eat during the feasts.
"I guess yes, you always come to a more far away table when you get tired of partying around." Emma answers Hip's query herself, bringing her beer mug to toast with yours, which differently than hers, is almost empty. She observes the small grin plastered on your face and chuckles, "I bet you were looking at the captain just now."
"My, you caught me red-handed." They both giggle at your comment, and you prop your chin on your hand, thinking of a good response, "You know I can't help it, he always looks pretty cute and round after eating so much."
"Yeah, when that happens he can't be rough around the edges anymore, afterall he won't have any edges!" Hip exclaims then covers her mouth to laugh, pulling Emma with her to Wire's table, "We're gonna gamble too, see you Y/N!"
You wave bye-bye to the duo, they are so very sweet.
As they walk away, you glance yet again at your beloved Kidd only to see that he has given up eating to chug on a few pitches of beer, excitedly talking to Killer in the process. Since you don't like approaching while he's eating – it's so messy he's akin to a piggy – you decide to go see him now, just because you'd like to kiss him bye-bye before you retire to the ship.
He doesn't seem to notice when you appear, planting a kiss on his goggles-free forehead, "Hi Kiddo, having fun so far?"
"Heck yes babe, I'm stuffed, and not even done yet." The redhead doesn't even mind the affection, too buzzed and full to protest. You look down, and it looks like he's already displaying a little belly.
You gasp lightly when his arm loops around your waist, your own arms embracing his shoulders and bringing his head closer to give him another kiss, this time in the top of his head – which he happily leans into, after all his hair is a soft spot.
To think about it, from this angle above, his hair really looks like a tulip.
He seems to indulge in your kisses, the alcohol making him loose to public displays of affection.
"Okay okay," You say while pulling him off from you, his arm is bulky but he's weaker from the beer, "I came to tell you I'm heading to the ship to take a short nap. See you later lov."
His eyes blink open, staring at you for a short moment where he lets you go with a 'okey' – you think he got the memo just fine.
Your trek to the ship is quickened by your jumpy strut.
Nap well taken, you've decided to wait for your lover on the deck, knowing very well most of the crew must be passed out on the beach, whether it be the sand or upon the tables or chairs, some would even sleep over the grill so as not to lay on the ground – you can think of a few that would be laying on the tables as well. The point is, nobody really could bother you both at this moment.
Oh lawd he's coming, is your first thought, spotting a big red dot far from the ship, walking with no difficulty yet swaying nonetheless, you just know Kidd is going to have a killer hangover tomorrow.
It's unusual, only happening during the days he feels famished enough to eat for three people in one sitting, his tough muscles disappearing under the new gained weight, how he does it, you cannot know.
But every time you think, he looks so cute.
Your big, angry boyfriend now turned into a big, round boyfriend climbs the plank ladder that leads up on the deck, stopping only once he is a few steps away from you.
There, he flops on the floor, sitting as he looks at you expectantly, knowing damn well that you like his softness when he's chubby like this.
"It's fucking weird the fact you think I look… nice like this." Eustass is the first to break the silence, avoiding the word 'cute' as he huffs at you. It seems his angry act is back, now that he might be a little sober.
Kid groans at your giggle of amusement.
"You look so squishy and soft, I can't help but love your rolls." You walk over to him and make yourself comfortable at his side, resting your head on him but not your weight, or else gastric reflux could a bitch about it at any moment.
He rolls his eyes and looks away with a small blush, his arm looping over your waist much like in the party – at this point, this action feels so familiar to you, you can almost feel it when it comes next. "Satisfied?"
"Very much." You chuckle at him, and silently, sneak your hand up to squeeze one of his chubs.
The big red lets out a yelp caused by the unexpected action, glaring angrily at you. "Hey!"
Even though his tough act, on the inside, Kidd was actually happy to receive free affection, being the selfish bastard he is. At the same time, he couldn't be more relieved, knowing that you could have reacted the opposite of this, and thankfully, you had not. And he loved you for it. But of course, he'd never say that even in a million years.
Eventually, the both of you stilled, the playful bicker coming to an end as the sea waves filled in the silence.
Now there are only two lovers, sleeping soundly side to side.
And content smiles on their faces.

Chapter 51 - Udon, Again
Stupid ass Kid. Time for Plan B.
Word Count: ~3k
You felt like absolute fucking trash when you finally woke up. Between your injury from Kid, sleeping on the floor, and hours of sobbing yesterday leaving you dehydrated, you felt like you'd been hit by a meteor, rolled up like a carpet and tossed into the sea. Waking up alone was hard, harder that it had been in weeks. For the first time in your life you were truly independent, and it was hard to accept that right now you didn't even have a crew. It was just you, by yourself, just hoping like hell that you could find a way to get to Heat before it was too late, if he was even still alive.
You lifted your shirt to examine your stomach, frowning at the deep purple bruise that was already forming, in the perfect shape of Kid's fist. Well, at least he'd used his flesh arm. You'd never have imagined he would lay hands on you - you understood it was a high stress situation, but that didn't make it okay. You weren't sure you'd ever forgive him for that, and you had a feeling if Killer came to his senses and saw the injury that it wouldn't bode well for Kid. Even Heat might turn to violence if he saw the bruise. The two of them were possessive of you, but the question was if they were possessive enough to go against their captain. You had no doubt Heat at least would leave the crew for you, but whether he'd physically fight Kid was another thing altogether. Kid was stronger than him though, so you hoped he wouldn't fight on your behalf.
Below your bruise was the fading scar of your hysterectomy, and your heart hurt thinking about Dawn, so far away. You hoped she was doing okay, and that she was too small to truly miss you. Above all you hoped you'd see her again soon, you missed her greatly, and you were getting really sick of making your hands hurt by expressing milk with the manual pump. You felt awful for leaving her, but you had to remind yourself that it wasn't forever, and it was for the best. You had to bring at least one dad home, or you didn't know how you could keep going on your own. You weren't suited to being a single mother, you didn't feel strong enough, not after everything you'd been through.
You let yourself lay back down, curling into a tight ball with a whimper, thinking about Killer and Heat and Dawn and missing them all greatly. It didn't matter that you technically saw Killer yesterday. That wasn't him, that was some other guy who had taken his body without permission, you just had to kick him out. You just wished there was something, anything, you could do to know whether Heat was alive. Not knowing was ripping you apart, every time you thought about it you felt like you couldn't breathe. You could at least hold faith that if he was dead, maybe you would have seen his ghost by now, because surely he would be searching for you. You saw many ghosts in Wano, those who had died suffering under Kaido's rule, but thankfully none you recognised.
You pinched the bridge of your nose, trying to soothe your searing headache. Rummaging through your duffle there was barely anything left, just a single bottle of water and a few apples. You could go without tomorrow, as long as you got the information you needed out of Killer, and once you got back to the capital you could steal more. You chugged the water greedily, hoping it would help your headache, and ate both apples before dealing with your heavy breasts. You drank that too, there was no point wasting it and you needed all the carbs you could get until you got back to the capital. At least your bag was light now, only containing the manual pump, a small med kit, and a map. You slung it over your shoulder and put your mask in place on your head, giving the shack one last look to ensure you didn't forget anything before making your way to Udon.
Your plan was just to cloak yourself and find Killer. Nobody would see you, but he would know you were there because of his haki, and you hoped you could get information out of him before he gave you away. All you needed was a location for where the rest of the crew were being kept, then you could be gone. You just hoped you wouldn't need to use pain to get the information out of him. There were things your devil fruit could do if you needed it, to inflict pain that would bring any man to their knees until he gave up the intel. It was a horrible thought, but you were desperate to get Heat back, and at this point Killer felt like a lost cause. You couldn't convince him to come back to himself last time, and if Kid couldn't either then who could? If he ever did come back to himself, he would forgive you for doing what you needed to do to get the rest of the crew back.
Udon was in chaos as you arrived. You scaled the walls as you had before, perching at the top of the innermost wall to take stock of the situation. Some sort of samurai match was taking place between Luffy and an absolute circle of a man you would find out later was named Queen, one of Kaido's top men. Kid and Killer were being hung upside down over a large pool of water, and you could hear Kid yelling at Killer, who ignored him and merely laughing maniacally in return. No, not Killer - Kamazo. It was clear he wasn't himself, and gave no heed to Kid's desperate yelling for him to remember who he was. This was no good, there was no way for you to get the information you needed out of him like this, when they were so exposed out in the open. Weirdest of all though was that you swore you saw Big Mom at the gate on your way here. Surely you were mistaken, though there had been that article in the newspaper about Big Mom and Kaido that you hadn't been able to read, right before arriving in Wano. Maybe it was something to do with that?
You swore to yourself as Kid and Kamazo were lowered head first into the water. You really didn't want to help Kid right now, but you couldn't just let him die, right? As for Kamazo, whether or not he had stolen Killer's body, you needed him alive for information. God fucking dammit. It took significant concentration, given the distance, but you were able to form a small circular barrier around each of their heads, ensuring they had at least some oxygen. It wouldn't last them forever, but it was better than nothing, especially as the water weakened both of them. There wasn't much else you could do right now, but it didn't matter, because other things were already at work here.
Big Mom broke down the outermost gate, and you saw the mangled metal soar through the air as she threw it. All hell broke loose as the guards within Udon focused their attention on the invader, Kid and Kamazo entirely forgotten. You had a feeling the guards didn't realise who they were dealing with, as a loudspeaker sang out over the prison, “The intruder has broken through the second gate! Now approaching the third gate!”
She broke through the innermost gate to the courtyard you could see best, screaming about red bean soup. Queen turned into some sort of long-necked dinosaur and began fighting back to no avail, Big Mom easily grappling his head and slamming it down. He slapped his tail against the ground in anger, jumping into the air and diving down at great speed to make his attack. Big Mom countered, grabbing him by his long neck, swinging him in circles until every bystander was dizzy from watching, and throwing him at one of Udon's great walls with a deafening crack, the tower he hit tilting and threatening to collapse. You understood well why she was an emperor, Queen was one of Kaido's top men, and yet she'd taken him down without even using her devil fruit. You shivered to think how strong Kaido must be as well.
The tank of water containing Kid and Kamazo broke apart, the scaffolding that held their chains breaking with it and dumping them on the ground with a gush of water. Luffy and Big Mom began fighting as the Beast Pirates scurried to evacuate, and an explosion blew out from the fight, prompting you to form a shield of air pressure to protect Kid and Kamazo, on instinct alone, making you grumble in annoyance as you registered what you'd done. Still invisible, Kamazo sensed you were there, laughing as he stared right at you from your perch on top of the wall, making you unsettled, while Kid was too distracted right now to focus his haki, his head moving every which way trying to figure out where the fuck you were. It was clear you were somewhere, he just couldn't figure it out, and he looked pissed.
A short man with a large head threw the pair a set of keys, and you realised at that point that you were no longer needed here. As soon as Kid could get his seastone off, he could escape with Kamazo on his own, if he didn't kill Kid first. Exasperated and annoyed that you'd protected Kid, you left. You didn't want to be around when he got out, because frankly you didn't want to talk to him. Angry that your plan to get information had failed, you fled back towards the rundown shack. You'd have to find a new way to get that information. Surely Kid would drag Kamazo somewhere, likely nearby since he knew of the area. You could wait till he left Kamazo unattended, or eavesdrop as he got the information out of Kamazo himself, then go to free Heat before Kid even had a chance to get there. You had to get to him first, because you had no doubt Kid would sprout lies to Heat about the nature of your leaving, and you might never see him again. He may even go after Dawn, being that you'd shown Kid on the map where she was being kept. You'd told him as a backup, in case something happened to you, but now you regretted that choice. Then again, you never thought Kid would hurt you like he had.
You stood at the entrance to the ruined building, deciding instead that it would be better to find a different place to hide, since Kid knew this spot. It was the only shelter he knew of, so he would no doubt come here. It took a while, but eventually you were able to find another half destroyed building with a single intact room to shelter in. You slumped down in the corner, exhausted, exasperated and frustrated, with nothing to do except wait for Kid to get to the town and drop his guard so you could interrogate Kamazo. If Kid even managed to get him here at all. You had your doubts, you knew you were capable of disabling him, but Kid and Killer had always been equal in strength, and while Kamazo was a sloppier fighter, he had the edge of wearing Kid's best friend's face - you didn't know if Kid had it in him to truly fight him if it came to it.
You couldn't care less right now if Kamazo won the fight, you'd just had to accept Killer was gone if it came to that. You could probably capture him on your own, long enough to get information, but you wouldn't be able to keep him. Another encounter with Kamazo would no doubt end in one of your deaths, and it couldn't be yours, Dawn still needed you. Killer would understand. However, if Kid won, well that was an issue. Kamazo was your only lead to finding Heat, and he was stupid enough to destroy that lead without thinking if he got into a serious fight with the assassin.
Elsewhere, Kid made his way in the general direction where he remembered the abandoned town to be, followed closely by an eerily quiet Killer. The fog in the blonde's mind from the last several weeks was finally clearing, and he felt ashamed of himself. Not to mention that now that he was in his right mind, he was overly aware of his exposed smile, and the uncontrollable laughter that came whenever he spoke. There wasn't much he could say anyway, he felt deeply embarrassed that he'd lost himself, that he'd been out of prison and yet had done nothing to help his crew, that he hadn't recognised his best friend, that he'd attacked you. There was tension in the air as he walked behind Kid. He wished the captain would just turn around and yell at him already, punish him for his insubordination, so he could at least feel a little like he'd gotten what he deserved. Kid hadn't spoken to him since leaving Udon, and he wondered if his betrayal was so great that the redhead would never forgive him.
The two remained silent as they walked through the streets of the ruined village, the only sounds being that of dirt crunching underfoot, and the various wildlife that had reclaimed the area. Kid grumbled to himself as he tried to remember exactly where the shack you'd taken him to was, since there was a significant lack of buildings still standing enough to serve as shelter. After circling several blocks, he finally found it, sitting down with a huff inside, watching Killer warily as the first mate entered behind him and sat a little ways away. A rogue bout of laughter escaped him from the stress of the tense situation, and he failed to muffle it with his hand. Defeated, Killer pulled his knees to his chest and let his head fall against them with a groan, his kimono falling open either side of his legs.
“Yin um… said about the SMILE fruit shit,” Kid finally broke the silence, “you… you okay?”
“Not really,” Killer laughed. He was so anxious that the laugh may have been real, he couldn't really tell.
“Right,” Kid replied, emphasising the ‘t’ with a pop, “of course you're not okay. Sorry.”
“It's not your fault,” Killer sighed, trying his best to look at Kid, but unable to keep eye contact when he felt so exposed.
“It kinda is though,” Kid grumbled, “it's my alliance bullshit that got us here.”
“It was Scratchmen that got us here,” Killer corrected, “and fucking Kaido.” Killer paused, looking around the small room with a realisation. “Where's Yin?”
“Scared her off,” Kid mumbled under his breath. Killer's heart hurt, remembering how he'd attacked you.
“I don't blame her,” Killer sighed, burying his face in his knees again, “I must have fucked her up pretty bad when I attacked her, fa-fa-fa-fa-fa.”
“She's not scared of you,” Kid huffed, “she knew you weren't yourself. It's me she's scared of.” Killer's head perked up, looking discerningly at the captain who reeked of guilt.
“Kid,” Killer said sternly, “what did you do?”
“You really don't know?” Kid replied, “you were there.”
“My memory is patchy,” Killer sighed, “what did you do to piss her off? I know she was at Udon, so why is she not here?”
“Look, I was angry, okay?” Kid tried to justify himself, “I didn't mean to!”
“Kid.” Killer snapped. Kid shivered, it was the same tone Killer used when they were young and Kid was in trouble.
“I may or may not have yelled at her when she tried to stop me from inevitably getting shot and captured,” Kid wouldn't look Killer in the eye, not knowing how he would react to the next part, “and then… I may have punched her in the gut. And she may have told me to go fuck myself and quit the crew. Wait, no, that was before I punched her.”
“Kid!!” Killer shouted, “What the hell is wrong with you! It took months to get her to trust you and you just go and throw that all away? What the fuck is wrong with you?!”
“I fucked up okay?!” Kid yelled back, “you know what I'm like when I'm stressed!”
“That's no excuse for punching a woman!” Killer yelled back, “especially not when that woman is your best friend's girl! You're fucking lucky I don't have the energy right now to beat the shit out of you.”
“I'll take a raincheck,” Kid sighed, “it's the least I deserve.”
“Do you know where she would go?” Killer asked as he stood. It was clear you needed him right now more than Kid did, he had to find you, make sure you were okay, and make sure you knew he was sorry for hurting you.
“There's not many places she could get to without resting first,” Kid grumbled, “she's probably nearby. In another house or some shit. Where are you going?”
“To find her, dumbass,” Killer snapped, before choking on a string of laughter. He shook his head as he composed himself, “Stay here, I'll find her and come back tomorrow so we can all go find our crew, together. And for fucksake don't draw attention to yourself, in fact don't fucking leave this room.”
“Fine, whatever,” Kid grumbled as Killer left to find you. He curled in on himself as soon as Killer was out of sight. You were right, things had changed; if Killer had to pick between the two of you, Kid was no longer his first choice.
