Still making this museum, still trying too hard to apply real life principles to a video game.
But I have a layout! And the bathrooms should work and cover... everyone. And there's rooms for kids to draw and adults to draw! And maybe even space to drop the unhappy toddlers. We'll see.
I am defiantly making a museum now for San Sequoia - a terrible idea because it's going to be base game and Growing Together only but also because no Sims museum could meet the standards of a real life museum. And I am a damn museum professional who's still trying.
I will drag this fictional art museum crying and screaming into the 21st century, so help me!
#like i said trying too hard#but the lighting!#and the wall height!#and the need for curtains unless i can convince myself they paid for the fancy window pane uv blockers#and no the bathrooms probably don't need to cover each age group#but by golly they will!#hopefully!#ts4

Hive fleet Panoptes consumes all who enter the jungle!
Cut off from the primary hivemind by unseen psionic blockers, a cluster of genestealers found themselves marooned on a massive jungle world. To survive among the hostile megafauna, they adapted camouflage. To thrive they integrated their genes with the local sapient reptilian life forms. To conquer, they could not call their fleet, but instead grew their own from the biomass of the planet.
Now Hivefleet Panoptes has set its many eyes on the skies. They must escape this psi-blocking atmosphere and rejoin the greater swarm.
-
This display terrain was a mess to build. The foliage is now all over my apartment, and the little rippers were a real challenge for my printer. It was still fun, but I probably wouldn’t use these same techniques and materials in future projects.
Basing these bugs was also really cathartic. The rough jungle terrain gave me a lot of opportunities to get creative with the basing bits and diorama dirt. The resin swamp goo, saliva, and brain slime were frustrating when I just had a pen UV light, but getting a wall-plug light made it almost trivial and let me experiment more with mix-ins.
Overall I’m really happy with how this display turned out, and if I ever learn how to actually play this game I’ll probably enter this in Armies on Parade.

Oooo, Dr Bubby is also immune to harmful UV radiation!
Bubby: ...Listen, Dr. Coomer. There's an onscreen interface outside this thing. Do you see it?
Coomer: I'm staring at it now, yes.
Bubby: I was going to have Tommy do this, but... well, since you're here. I'd rather have you do it.
Bubby: B- uh- because you're the adult here, I mean. Ahem. Clearly.
Bubby: ...I'm going to need you to press the button that says 'turn off all blockers'.
Coomer: You've got it!
[boop.]
[The science device glows green, which could mean anything, really, but then it simmers down, and- well, there's no screaming! That's good!]

I don't. Know if uve done chihiros already for the headcanon game but I would leik to hear ur thoughts on her 🙏🙏
I SAW THIS ASK AND GOT SO EXCITED I LOVE MISS CHIHIROOOOOOS
- headcanon of all time is she is transfem trans girl trans woman she is estrogenpilled.
- she loves all things sweet Lolita and ruffly and cute… aside from being a computer nerd she’s a bit of a fashion nerd too. Miss girl loves her bloomers
- she streams on twitch sometimes but she only starts showing her face when she becomes more confident I think? But even so I don’t think she would publicly come out until Japan hypothetically became more progressive regarding trans rights. People tend to forget that Japan isn’t a fantasy anime land and is a real country with problems, including lots of restrictions on lgbt people.
- she may be cute and girly, but she often gets into the adhd grindset where she doesn’t get up from her computer room for days. Her friends have to come remind her to eat and sleep sometimes. She can be a bit of a gremlin.
- I do think she eventually weans off of the puberty blockers and allows herself to start E, but when this happens (I’m not an endocrinologist so don’t go nuts idk if this happens) the residual testosterone in her system makes her height SHOOT UP. both her parents are very tall, and she grows to be like. 5’8. I do think her voice gets a little deeper, but she has that really pretty alto tgirl voice that’s sooooo comforting? She’s not a natural baritone by any means but she does freak out a little when her voice begins to crack. I think she would talk to tenko about this stuff and tenko would show her Nat leftatlondon and her music and how girls can be trans and have deeper voices and still be girls. Love her.
Miss chihiros is the patron saint of transfems in stem and I love her so much

hello ! im srry if uv answered this before ,,, im a fairly new follower . how do you read your comics ? do you use a website to access them or do you buy them all somewhere ? im trying to get into comics. thanks xxxx
Hi!!
So there's a handful of websites that come up if ya look up like "read comic books online" and I normally read them on one of those. I'd highly recommend an ad blocker just in case, some of them have significantly more pop-ups than others. But I think it's mostly preference when it comes to what site to use. Also, sometimes some sites might not have a certain comic you're looking for, so I tend to just look up like
"the batman adventures mad love read online" "batman: harley quinn read online"
and go with one of the options that show up. ❤️
Though, I do very much encourage anyone who can afford the comics to buy them!! I would Love to be able to buy all of Harley's comics and appearances, but financially I can barely afford a $2 energy drink so skdjsks 😭😭😭

cw transphobia/cw suicide/rant
disrespectfully, if ur the typa parent who treats ur kid coming out as trans as “ur little girl/boy dying” or u “being in mourning” and especially if u talk abt that infront of/to ur trans kid fuck you.
“let them have emotions” no, fuck that. u can have feelings like that or whatever, i’m not trying to police ur thoughts but 1. acknowledge that u need to work on those feelings for the sake of ur kid and 2. keep those feelings to ur fucking self.
and if u absolutely HAVE to talk abt them, do it privately, when ur kid’s not around, when no other trans kid who might be in a similar situation could hear. if someone asks u if u feel like that when ur kid’s sitting right fucking next to u just lie, or at the very least tell them uve been working on it (which u better have been.)
because it makes it seem like u think ur kid’s transition is abt urself (which i sometimes wonder if u mfs do think that), and it makes ur kid feel like they cant explore their own feelings abt them feeling like they killed the little girl/boy they used to be, even if its not related to gender or being trans at all, heck, maybe ur trans son feels weird abt thinking he “killed the boy he used to be” bcz of smthn else like depression or smthn and he feels weird abt thinking that bcz u talked abt how u feel in mourning for his past self and it made him feel super icky (or vice verca w/ ur trans daughter or enby kid).
parts of this go for other insensitive shit u could say to ur kid during their transition (“i’m worried it could be a trend” “hormones/blockers r just so dangerous”, comparing medically transitioning to girls developing anorexia due to diet culture, etc.)
i’m sorry, i know i should probably be sympathetic to parents going through a kinda (and partially rightfully) scary change but if ur saying or doing shit that negatively affects ur kid, even if u didnt mean it that way fuck u, idgaf abt how u feel abt it, how u feel like u lost a child, how u hate ALL surgeries (but especially an unnecessary one), how after a few hours of facebook research ur worried it could be a trend, how ur worried that using their name/pronouns might confuse their younger siblings (who would probably easily understand a simple explanation with the option to ask questions after if explained right), i do not give one single fuck abt ur self-centred, uneducated worries.
you might have good intentions or whatever but this shit is gonna kill your child, i’m sorry. and if it doesnt kill them its gonna make them hate u, both now and when theyre actually able to medically transition and live on their own.
and honestly, even if they do figure out “oh hey, i’m actually just cis but with a kinda complicated relationship to gender” i promise u they arent gonna thank u profusely for bringing up the worry that theyre not actually trans or making their transition so much harder and slower, theyre gonna hate u for making them scared to question their gender anymore incase u turn out to be right and u think u did the right thing which would both feel shitty for them personally for obvious reasons but might also hurt their trans siblings or the trans kids whos parents might be in the same facebook group or whatever.
and theyre very much gonna hate u for overlooking their feelings, doing stuff they know u know makes them actively suicidal, and not caring enough to look at actual resources for parents trying to support their trans kids better, preferably written by a trans person themself, and instead go to, again, ur mommy facebook group where ur bsf posts terfy memes and abt how “she doesnt want her teenage daughters in the same bathroom as perverted men!” (both “daughters” also being trans boys who coincidentally are both insanely suicidal, cope in unhealthy methods, and talk shit abt their parents the moment the topic of them comes up) and where they fear-monger abt how ur young impressionable girls (and probably boys too) are being taken advantage of by the evil transgenderism movement and how its a social trend for them to mutilate their bodies, “just like how girls would starve themselves to fit in when we were teens!”, and thats in the rare chance that they DO detransition.
anyways idrk what else to say other than support ur fuckin trans kids as much as u can, do actual research to support them, or dont be shocked when ur child tries to kill themself and/or doesnt speak to u anymore when their older, and when that happens i hope the pain u feel is as bad as half the pain we feel from having to deal with ur self centred transphobic bullshit that makes it feel like our parents dont love us and just see us as dolls and see our struggles w/ dysphoria as small irritation that surgery and hormones would be unnecessary to fix, and if u make ur kid feel like that i cannot stress this enough: Fuck. You. because you are the reason the child ur supposed to love, care for, and protect feels like this and wants to kill themself. just fuck you.
#rant#this went on longer than i expected lmao#this is definitely not me talking abt my own mother#why tf would i be talking abt my own mother?/s#transphobia#transphobic parents#trans#transgender#trans kids#protect trans kids#fuck transphobic parents

Can sunscreen be safely used during pregnancy?
As any expectant mother knows, taking care of yourself during pregnancy is a top priority. From monitoring your diet to getting regular exercise, there are many things you can do to promote a healthy pregnancy. One question that often arises, however, is whether it is safe to use sunscreen during pregnancy. In this blog, we will explore this topic in detail and answer the question: can the use of sunscreen be considered safe during pregnancy?
The short answer is that using sunscreen while pregnant is safe. In fact, medical experts strongly advise against it. Pregnant Women should use sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 and protective gear to shield themselves from the sun's harmful rays. This is due to the fact that being pregnant might make your skin more sensitive to the sun's ultraviolet (UV) rays, which can cause skin damage, early ageing, and even skin cancer.
Yet, some pregnant women can worry about the safety of sunscreen due to the presence of certain ingredients. For instance, the popular sunscreen ingredient oxybenzone has been proven to mimic oestrogen in the body and may cause hormonal imbalances. Retinyl palmitate, another component, is a form of vitamin A that, when consumed in high concentrations, has been associated to birth abnormalities. So, if you are worried about these components, what should you do?
It is essential to note that the risks associated with these ingredients are generally considered to be low. In fact, many experts believe that the benefits of using sunscreen far outweigh any possible risks. Pregnant women who used sunscreen regularly had a lower risk of developing melasma, a condition characterized by dark patches on the skin.
If you are still concerned about the safety of sunscreen during pregnancy, there are some tips you can take to minimize any potential risks. You can choose a sunscreen that does not contain oxybenzone or retinyl palmitate. Look for sunscreens that use physical blockers such as zinc oxide or titanium dioxide instead. These ingredients work by sitting on top of the skin and reflecting UV rays away from the body, rather than being absorbed into the skin.
Another option is to use a mineral-based sunscreen. These sunscreens are made with natural ingredients such as zinc oxide and are less likely to cause skin irritation or allergic reactions. Some mineral-based sunscreens are also formulated to be water-resistant, which can be a plus if you plan to spend time in the water or sweat a lot.
Lukewarm Sunscreen is a mineral sunscreen that functions by dispersing UV radiation, shielding against both shorter and longer UVA rays. Zinc oxide in Lukewarm Sunscreen is primarily used as a barrier against skin-damaging irritants and UV radiation, it may also have some potential benefits for correcting dark spots or melasma.
When choosing a sunscreen, it is also important to pay attention to the SPF rating. An SPF of at least 30 is advised by the American Academy of Dermatology, as this will block 97% of UVB rays. However, higher SPF ratings do not necessarily offer much more protection, so there is no need to go overboard with a super-high SPF.
In addition to using sunscreen, there are other steps you can take to protect yourself from the sun during pregnancy. You can wear a hat with a wide brim to shade your face and neck, and wear long-sleeved shirts and pants made of lightweight, breathable fabrics. You can also stay indoors during the hottest time of the day (usually between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.).
By choosing a sunscreen with physical blockers or mineral-based ingredients, using an SPF of at least 30, and taking other steps to protect yourself from the sun, you can safely enjoy time. The use of Lukewarm mineral sunscreen can be considered safe during pregnancy!

They’ve barely had time to register the alarm ringing when Soldier Boy’s hand is clenched around their throat as he slams them into the wall.
“Who sent you?” he growls. His grip tightens, and Reese tries ineffectually to pry at his fingers.
“No one,” they gasp.
“Bullshit,” he snarls. “You show up asking very specific questions about very specific topics, and two hours later we’ve got infected inside my fucking fence?”
He bounces their head against the wall, and pulls the knife at his hip.
“Unless you want me to gut you and use what falls out as redirect bait, you better start answering,” he says.
“No one!”
“Bullshit!” he snaps again.
It’s then that he suddenly notices the emblem on the arm of their sunglasses; a small, silver V that makes him pause. His hold on them loosens.
“I- I didn’t-” says Reese.
“Close your eyes,” he says, gruffly.
Behind the black lenses, they blink.
“What?”
“Close your fucking eyes,” he snaps.
Confused, but acutely aware of the blade against their ribs, they comply. He lets go of their throat to yank the glasses of their face. Snapping the arm causes a small silver disc, roughly the size of one of the screw heads holding the frame together, to fall to the floor.
“Fucking Vought,” he hisses, before calling over his shoulder, “someone get me a pair of goddamn UV blockers!”
A moment later the uncomfortable, albeit familiar, feeling of plastic pinching the bridge of their nose and corners of their eyes settles into place.
“I liked those fucking sunglasses,” Reese snaps, opening their eyes. There’s a brief moment of disorientation as they adjust to the UV blockers. As the name implies, they block more light than glasses do, at the cost of feeling like they’re peeling the skin from your fucking face.
“Those sunglasses were bugged,” he says. He sheaths his knife, picks up a .45 from the table, and checks the magazine. “Someone’s known every move you’ve made since you bought them.”
“I didn’t,” they say. “I got them as a gift.”
He stops. “What?”
Gunshots echo faintly from outside. It’s a matter of seconds until the screaming follows them. Later, when the dead are ash and the ashes are bleached to the point of rendering the entire area lifeless for decades, he’ll find time to be pissed about several years without an outbreak getting ruined within three short hours.
“The retinal KA group, the whole reason I started on this, a bunch of us got them as gifts,” says Reese, adding, “anonymously donated.”
Soldier Boy’s lip curls.
He’d wanted to tell them they were chasing delusions, getting caught up in patterns that weren’t there, and have them fuck back off to wherever they came from. They show up with anecdotal stories and, at best, circumstantial evidence that people with reservoir conditions are disappearing at higher rates than normal people and he knows he wants nothing to do with it.
Ten minutes ago he could have confidently told them they were imagining it, but an entire group of the bastards getting an anonymous gift from Vought that’s carrying tracking devices is the kind of simple math even he can’t brush off.
The screaming begins to follow the gunshots. He passes them the .45 and crosses the room to pull another one from a weapons rack.
“You certified for that?” he asks, not really caring about the answer either way.
“Much as I can be while going blind every day,” they drawl.
“I’m gonna find where they broke through the fencing and plug the hole,” he says, pulling down a second gun.
“By yourself?” asks Reese.
“Cull whatever’s dead inside, and anyone about to be dead,” he continues, ignoring their question.
“Don’t your people need to know this, too?” they ask.
“They’re not my people,” he says sharply, adding, “and you’re the only one here who doesn’t know our outbreak protocol.”
“What?” they ask again.
Soldier Boy offers no further instructions, nor explanations. He pulls a shield from a spot closer to the door, and then kicks it open. Gunfire and screams amplify in volume, and Reese can’t help the way their gut flips in response.
They were born after the Rising. They’ve done enough field training for their weapons certifications, but it’s still not the same as a real outbreak. They blink, and Soldier Boy has disappeared into the chaos, leaving them no choice but to ready the weapon and step into it after him.

Idea for the Monster family AU: when Kirby gets older (this is probably in his pre-teen years) he misses going outside during the day, so goes through a witch phase. Because anyone can be a witch & maybe some type of magic that they practice helps vampires rom in the day for a short period of time (for like an hour at most)
Ooooooh that’s actually very cool! Honestly Kirby having some mage/witch history would probably even benefit him since he is a vampire in this AU. (And vampires use magic oftentimes.) Honestly, I get that a vampire would miss going outside during daylight hours, just basking in the sun’s warm rays while enjoying a picnic, all that just isn’t the same at night.
Some sort of UV blocker spell would definitely be utmost useful. It makes me think of like a magic sunscreen lol.

If you have a pair of frames you really like but you need a new prescription, there's a company called LensesRX.com that you can send in your glasses and they'll put in new lenses. They're always sending discounts in their emails too. Price varies based on what you select (like blue light filter), but you can get basic lenses for no cost and add scratch resistant and uv coating for $5 each, so with labor it's $40. I do usually spring for the Digital Lenses with Anti-Reflective and Blue Blocker (I work in IT), which start at $30, but there's usually at least a 25% lens discount available, bringing it down $22.50 for a total of $52.50.
I also used them when I splurged on some DL Eyewear sunglasses (which were FSA eligible, BTW) and needed my prescription put in them.
where are those startups that are disrupting the glasses industry
#i literally have 18 pairs of glasses#i like to match them to my outfit#and of course i have the pride frames#i get my free pair (or pay the difference if i really like the frames) every other year from my insurance#and then buy a couple from zenni#i also really love their clip ons#i get a lot of similar frame shapes so some of them actually fit my optical store glasses#i haven't bought any new ones in a while#aside from my free pair last year#i also only pay for vision insurance every other year#because i don't need an exam that every year#usually if i have fsa money left at the end of the year#i buy more glasses from zenni#and you know#bandaids#resources#glasses#glasses girl

Why Sunscreen Matters for Skin Cancer Prevention
Why Sunscreen Matters for Skin Cancer Prevention
A key element in the battle against skin cancer, which impacts millions of people worldwide, is sunscreen. Best Skin Clinic in Model Town places a high priority on teaching our patients the value of sunscreen, how to apply it correctly, and how it can dramatically lower their chance of developing skin cancer.
The Importance of Sunscreen
The sun's ultraviolet (UV) rays are the main cause of skin cancer. According to research, more than 90% of skin cancers, including melanoma and non-melanoma types35, are caused by UV exposure. Applying sunscreen on a regular basis helps shield the skin from these damaging rays by reflecting or absorbing them. For complete protection, broad-spectrum sunscreens protect against both UVA and UVB rays.
How Sunscreen Works
Active chemicals in sunscreens have the ability to either reflect or absorb UV rays. Physical blockers like zinc oxide and titanium dioxide bounce UV radiation away from the skin, while chemical absorbers like octisalate and avobenzone absorb them. The Sun Protection Factor (SPF), which measures the degree of protection against UVB rays—the main cause of sunburn and skin cancer—is a good indicator of how effective a sunscreen is. It is advised to use an SPF of 30 or higher every day.
Application Tips for Effective Protection
To ensure maximum efficacy, proper application of sunscreen is essential. Here are some key tips to follow:
Pick the Correct Sunscreen: Opt for a broad-spectrum sunscreen with a minimum SPF of thirty. Use SPF 50 or greater if you want to be outside for an extended period of time. If you intend to swim or perspire, be sure it is water-resistant.
Apply liberally: Cover your entire body with one ounce, or roughly a shot glass's worth. A half teaspoon is plenty for your face. All exposed parts, such as the feet, neck, and ears, should have sunscreen applied.
It's important to apply sunscreen 15 to 30 minutes before going outside so that it has time to effectively soak into the skin. Its effectiveness is increased by this pre-application period.
Reapply Frequently: If you are swimming or perspiring a lot, you should reapply sunscreen every two hours. Over time, even sunscreens that are resistant to water lose their efficacy.
Don't Depend Just on Sunscreen: Although sunscreen is essential, a more comprehensive approach to sun protection is necessary. To protect your eyes from UV rays, wear protective clothing, look for shade during the hottest parts of the day (10 AM to 4 PM), and wear sunglasses.
Think About Skin Type and Sensitivity: Mineral sunscreens with zinc oxide or titanium dioxide are less likely to irritate your skin if you have sensitive skin or have had reactions to particular products.
The Role of Sunscreen in Skin Cancer Prevention
Sunscreen is effective at lowering the risk of skin cancer, according to numerous research. Frequent use has been demonstrated to dramatically reduce the incidence of skin malignancies, including melanoma and nonmelanoma. In addition to other precautions like donning protective clothes and looking for shade, the Canadian Dermatology Association suggests that a thorough photoprotection strategy should include the appropriate application of broad-spectrum sunscreen.
Myths About Sunscreen
Despite its proven benefits, several myths about sunscreen persist:
Myth 1: Sunscreen Is Not Necessary for Darker Skin: UV rays can harm any type of skin. Darker skin is more susceptible to sunburn and skin cancer, even though it has more melanin, which provides some natural protection.
Myth 2: Only on sunny days is sunscreen required. Even on cloudy days, UV rays can still cause harm since they can pass through clouds. Therefore, regardless of the weather, regular application is essential.
Myth 3: SPF-containing cosmetics is adequate: Although SPF-containing makeup offers some protection, it frequently falls short on its own. It is advised to apply a suitable layer of sunscreen underneath makeup for the best protection.
Conclusion
At Model Town, New Delhi's Dermac Clinic, we think that educating people about sunscreen use is essential to preventing skin cancer. You can successfully shield your skin from damaging UV rays by adopting these habits into your everyday routine. Although sunscreen is an effective skincare product, keep in mind that for complete sun safety, it should be used in conjunction with other preventive measures.

Extending the Life of Larch Cladding: Tips for Long-Term Durability
Larch cladding is a popular choice for exterior finishes, prized for its aesthetic appeal, natural resistance to the elements, and durability. Whether used for residential homes, commercial buildings, or outdoor structures, larch cladding offers a unique combination of functionality and beauty. However, to ensure that your larch cladding lasts for decades, proper care and maintenance are essential. This article will explore various methods for extending the life of larch cladding, along with where to purchase top-quality timber products.
Understanding Larch Cladding
Larch cladding, particularly Siberian larch, is known for its robust characteristics, including a natural resistance to decay and weathering. This timber is sourced from the cold, northern climates of Europe and Russia, where it has developed a density and resilience that makes it suitable for exterior applications. The wood is often chosen for its striking appearance, with its rich golden-brown color that ages gracefully into a silver-grey patina over time.
While larch cladding can withstand harsh weather conditions, it still requires some care to maintain its durability and appearance. Over time, the wood can weather naturally, or it may develop a darker tone, depending on the environmental exposure and maintenance practices used. Properly maintaining this material will ensure its beauty and strength endure for many years.
Regular Cleaning and Maintenance
One of the most effective ways to extend the lifespan of larch cladding is by keeping it clean. The cladding should be washed regularly to remove dirt, debris, and organic growth such as moss, algae, and fungi. A simple cleaning solution, like mild soap and water, is usually sufficient. Using a soft-bristled brush or pressure washer on a low setting can help remove stubborn dirt without damaging the wood surface.
Cleaning the cladding not only enhances its appearance but also prevents moisture from getting trapped in the timber, which could lead to rot and decay. This is particularly important for buildings located in areas with high humidity or heavy rainfall, where moisture can significantly impact the wood’s integrity over time.

Applying Protective Coatings
Applying a protective coating is an important step in prolonging the life of larch cladding. While the wood itself is naturally resistant to decay, a coating can enhance its water resistance and prevent the wood from absorbing moisture, which could lead to swelling, cracking, or warping.
There are various types of finishes available, including oils, stains, and varnishes. Choosing the right protective coating will depend on the desired appearance and level of protection. Oils tend to enhance the natural grain of the wood while providing some water resistance, while stains offer additional UV protection and color retention. For areas with high exposure to sunlight, using a finish with UV blockers can prevent the wood from prematurely weathering or fading.
Ensuring Proper Ventilation
Adequate ventilation is essential to prevent moisture buildup behind the larch cladding. The space between the cladding boards and the structure should allow for air circulation, helping to keep the wood dry and preventing mold and mildew growth. If moisture gets trapped, it can lead to wood degradation, warping, or mold formation.
When installing larch cladding, make sure to include a breathable membrane that allows vapor to escape. This will help prevent water from getting trapped between the cladding and the wall, which could compromise both the aesthetic and structural integrity of the wood.
Regular Inspections and Repairs
Routine inspections of the larch cladding can help identify early signs of damage before they become major issues. Look for signs of moisture penetration, cracks, warping, or areas where the protective finish has worn off. Early repairs are crucial to preventing further damage, as neglecting minor issues can lead to more extensive problems over time.
If any boards show signs of significant damage, they should be replaced as soon as possible to maintain the integrity of the overall structure. The beauty of larch cladding lies in its ability to age naturally, but regular touch-ups will ensure that the wood continues to provide reliable performance and visual appeal.
Selecting High-Quality Larch Cladding
When purchasing larch cladding, it is important to choose high-quality timber to ensure its longevity. Not all larch is the same, and there can be significant variations in the quality of wood based on its source and how it is processed. Siberian larch, for example, is known for its exceptional durability and resistance to decay, making it an excellent choice for cladding.
To ensure you are purchasing quality timber, always buy from reputable building materials stores that specialize in wood products. Quality larch cladding should have a smooth finish and free from defects such as knots or cracks, which can affect both its appearance and performance.
Sourcing Larch Cladding from Trusted Shops
If you're looking to buy high-quality larch cladding, many shop timber products retailers offer a wide selection. One reliable online source is Southgate Timber, which offers a range of Siberian larch cladding. Their timber products are sourced from sustainable forests and are ideal for customers who want both longevity and aesthetic appeal in their exterior cladding materials.

Proper Installation Techniques
Correct installation techniques are essential to ensure the cladding performs optimally over time. Larch cladding should be installed with gaps between each board to allow for natural expansion and contraction of the wood as it reacts to temperature and humidity changes. Installing the cladding vertically or horizontally depends on the aesthetic preferences of the homeowner or builder, but care should be taken to ensure water is not allowed to pool at the bottom of the boards.
Using high-quality fasteners that are corrosion-resistant is also important, as this prevents rust from damaging the wood and the fasteners themselves. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions for installation to ensure the cladding lasts as long as possible.
Conclusion
Larch cladding is a beautiful and durable choice for exterior finishes, and with proper care and maintenance, it can last for decades. Regular cleaning, protective coatings, proper ventilation, and routine inspections are all vital steps in extending the lifespan of your cladding. By sourcing quality timber from trusted building materials timber shop products retailers, you ensure that your investment in larch cladding will pay off in the long term. Whether you are building a new structure or upgrading an existing one, larch cladding can provide the durability, aesthetic appeal, and environmental benefits that many homeowners and builders seek.

How to Store Truck Tarps in Off-Season to Maximize Their Lifespan
Truck tarps are essential for protecting cargo from weather elements, road debris, and theft during transit. However, when not in use—especially in the off-season—proper storage is crucial for maintaining their durability and effectiveness. By following the best practices for storing truck tarps, you can prevent wear and tear, maximize their longevity, and save on replacement costs. Here’s a detailed guide on how to store truck tarps in the off-season effectively.
Clean the Tarp Thoroughly Before Storage
Dirt, grime, and road salts that accumulate on truck tarps over time can cause significant damage if left unaddressed. Before storing the tarp, clean it thoroughly to remove any dirt, salt, or debris. Use mild soap and water, and scrub gently with a soft brush. Avoid harsh chemicals that could weaken the tarp material or compromise its waterproof properties.
Rinse and Dry Completely – Rinse off any soap residue with water, and let the tarp air dry completely. Moisture left on the tarp can lead to mildew, mold, and eventual material degradation.
2. Inspect for Any Damages
After cleaning, inspect the tarp for any signs of damage. Look for rips, holes, or weak spots that could worsen over time. If you spot any issues, repair them before storage. Small holes can often be patched with tarp repair tape or sealants, while larger tears may need professional repair. Addressing these problems now will help ensure the tarp is ready for use when the season begins.
3. Apply a Tarp Protectant
To help your tarp withstand long-term storage, consider applying a tarp protectant or UV blocker. These sprays are designed to prevent UV degradation, mold, and mildew buildup. UV blockers are particularly important if the tarp is stored in an area where sunlight exposure may still occur. Applying a protectant will create a barrier against potential environmental damage, thus preserving the tarp’s integrity.
4. Choose a Proper Storage Location
Where you store the tarp plays a big role in its long-term durability. Follow these guidelines for optimal storage conditions:
Avoid Direct Sunlight – UV rays can break down the material, especially if it’s a vinyl or polyethylene tarp. Store the tarp in a shaded area or cover it if it must be near a window.
Keep it Dry and Cool – Moisture and high temperatures can lead to mildew growth, weakening the material. A well-ventilated, dry, and cool area like a garage or storage shed is ideal.
Elevate from Ground – Store the tarp off the ground on a shelf or hang it up. Keeping it elevated prevents contact with any potentially damp surfaces and avoids pests.
5. Fold the Tarp Correctly
Improper folding can lead to stress on certain parts of the tarp, creating weak points. Fold the tarp carefully and evenly to avoid wrinkles or bends that can become prone to tears. Consider the following folding technique:
Lay Flat on a Clean Surface – Lay the tarp flat to avoid any dirt contact during folding.
Fold in Halves or Thirds – Fold the tarp evenly, maintaining symmetry to distribute any stress points.
Avoid Sharp Creases – Rather than tightly creasing the material, create soft folds, especially for thicker tarps like vinyl or canvas.
6. Roll for Compact Storage
If you have the space, rolling the tarp rather than folding can reduce creases and avoid unnecessary stress on the material. Rolling helps to distribute pressure evenly and prevent cracking or tearing.
Start from One End – Begin rolling the tarp from one end, ensuring it stays tight and uniform.
Secure the Roll – Use bungee cords or soft straps to hold the roll in place. This prevents it from unraveling and keeps it compact for easy storage.
7. Store in a Waterproof Container
If you want extra protection, place the folded or rolled tarp inside a waterproof storage container. This keeps it safe from any accidental moisture exposure, pests, and dust. If a container isn’t available, you can wrap the tarp in a breathable but moisture-resistant cover, such as a tarp bag or cloth cover.
8. Avoid Over-Stacking
If you have multiple tarps or heavy items stored alongside, avoid over-stacking on top of the tarp. Excess weight can create creases and weaken the material over time. If space is limited, store tarps at the top of stacks or hang them on hooks to prevent unnecessary weight and compression.
9. Inspect Periodically
Even during off-season storage, it’s wise to check on your tarp periodically. Look for any signs of dampness, pest intrusion, or environmental damage. This quick inspection can help catch issues early and avoid more significant damage, especially if storing tarps long-term.
10. Prepare the Tarp for Reuse
Before the peak season arrives and the tarp goes back into service, do a final inspection and cleaning. Any dust accumulated during storage can be wiped down, and a quick inspection for new damage will help you address any issues before the tarp is needed again. Applying a fresh coat of tarp protectant can also rejuvenate it for another season of heavy use.
Following these best practices for storing truck tarps in the off-season can greatly extend their lifespan and ensure they’re ready for optimal performance during peak usage periods. By dedicating some time to clean, inspect, and store your tarps properly, you’ll protect your investment and save money over the long term.

Tinted Sunscreen
The Benefits of Tinted Sunscreen for Your Skin
In the world of skincare, protecting your skin from harmful UV rays is crucial for maintaining its health and appearance. While traditional sunscreens provide a barrier against these rays, tinted sunscreens offer additional benefits, making them a popular choice for many. But what sets tinted sunscreens apart, and why should you consider incorporating them into your routine?
What Is Tinted Sunscreen?
Tinted sunscreen is essentially a broad-spectrum sunscreen infused with a skin-colored tint. This tint is designed to match a range of skin tones, offering a light, natural coverage. Unlike regular sunscreens, tinted versions blend into the skin, providing an even complexion while protecting against both UVA and UVB rays. The tint often comes from the inclusion of iron oxides, which not only add color but also offer additional protection against visible light and blue light emitted from screens.
The Advantages of Using Tinted Sunscreen
Double Duty: Sun Protection and Coverage One of the biggest advantages of using tinted sunscreen is its dual function. While traditional sunscreens focus solely on protecting the skin from UV rays, a tinted sunscreen adds a layer of coverage, working like a lightweight foundation. This makes it ideal for those who want to simplify their morning routine by combining sun protection and skin coverage in one step.
Protection Against Blue Light As we spend more time in front of digital devices, concerns about blue light's effect on the skin have increased. Blue light, also known as high-energy visible (HEV) light, can penetrate deep into the skin and contribute to premature aging. The iron oxides in tinted sunscreens provide an additional defense against blue light, reducing its potential impact on the skin.
Evens Out Skin Tone Tinted sunscreens can help to blur imperfections such as redness, uneven skin tone, or blemishes. The tint provides sheer coverage, giving the skin a smooth, even look without the heavy feel of makeup. It’s perfect for days when you want a natural, no-makeup look but still want some coverage and protection.
Suitable for Sensitive Skin Many people with sensitive skin find that traditional chemical sunscreens can cause irritation. Tinted sunscreens, especially those with physical blockers like zinc oxide or titanium dioxide, are often gentler on the skin. They sit on the skin’s surface rather than absorbing into it, reducing the likelihood of irritation or allergic reactions.
Prevents Hyperpigmentation For those prone to hyperpigmentation or melasma, tinted sunscreen can be particularly beneficial. The tint helps shield the skin from visible light, which has been shown to contribute to the worsening of these conditions. Wearing a tinted sunscreen regularly can help prevent dark spots from becoming more pronounced.
How to Choose the Right Tinted Sunscreen
When selecting a tinted sunscreen, it's important to consider your skin type and concerns. Look for a formula that matches your skin tone and feels comfortable on your skin. For oily skin types, a matte or oil-free formula may work best, while those with dry skin may prefer a more hydrating option. Additionally, ensure that the sunscreen offers broad-spectrum protection and has a high SPF rating to keep your skin protected from harmful UV rays.
Incorporating tinted sunscreen into your skincare routine is a simple yet effective way to protect your skin while enhancing its appearance. With its combination of sun protection, light coverage, and skin benefits, it’s no wonder this product has become a staple for many looking for an all-in-one solution.
