Intersex Support FAQ
1. What is intersex?
Intersex is an umbrella term that describes people who have variations in sex characteristics that fall outside of the sex binary. This includes variations in genitals, internal reproductive organs like testes and ovaries, chromosomes, secondary sex characteristics, and/or the way that your body produces or responds to hormones. Some examples of intersex variations include AIS, CAH, PCOS, Klinefelters, hypospadias, and more.
The three main factors that define intersex variations are:
Variation in sex characteristics
The variation falls outside of the sex binary and is different from what is considered typical “male” or “female” development. These variations in traits might often be stigmatized and discriminated against for being outside of the sex binary.
This variation is either present from birth or develops spontaneously later in life. It is not caused by transitioning or by something temporary like a medication side effect, tumor, or other medical diagnosis.
(This definition is inspired by InterACT).
2. Does ____ count as intersex?
There are around 40 different intersex variations that are currently known. InterACT”s intersex variation glossary lists out those intersex variations and gives a brief description of each one.
However, we know that isn’t a complete list. People have intersex variations that haven’t been medically researched yet, or might have a rare variation that the intersex community isn’t aware of yet.
There are also some variations that might seem on the border between perisex and intersex. Some types of hormonal or reproductive diagnoses might not have a clear answer on whether they’re intersex or not.
Ultimately, intersex is a social/political identity rather than a strictly medical one. Increased research and changing social attitudes can cause the definition of intersex to expand over time. Regardless of whether someone has a confirmed intersex variation or an “intersex adjacent” diagnosis, if intersex resources are helpful to you, we hope that you continue to use them and act in solidarity with the intersex community.
On this blog, we do include PCOS with hyperandrogenism as part of the intersex community. Check out our PCOS tag for more posts about our reasoning, and PCOS specific resources.
3. Am I intersex?
We cannot diagnose you with an intersex variation over the internet. We can share resources such as the intersex variations glossary, share tips for navigating the medical system, and share information on other non-clinical signs of being intersex.
Some questions to ask yourself that can help you start the process of intersex discovery:
What do my sex traits (genitalia, secondary sex characteristics, hormone levels, etc) look like? Does this seem like it lines up with the “typical” descriptions of those sex traits?
Do I have any information about my birth? Were there any complications? Did doctors do extra testing at birth? Did doctors take me away from my parents for long periods of time? Did it take me longer to have my sex assigned at birth?
What was puberty like for me? Did I have early or late puberty? Did I have to go on hormones to start puberty? Did I have any variations in puberty, such as unexpected breast growth, irregular periods, or other changes? Did I go through puberty at all?
If you’ve tried to have children, are you infertile or struggling with fertility?
Did I have any unexplained surgeries or medical procedures as a child? Was I ever told I had to have organs removed and was told it was because of a cancer risk? Did I have to be on specific medications or hormones throughout my childhood? Did I have to go see a doctor more frequently? Did I go to an endocrinologist or pediatric urologist as a child?
Do I have surgery scars or scar tissue? Do I have more frequent UTIs than typical?
Do I have access to my medical records? Is there records of hormone panels, ultrasounds, physical exams, surgeries, or other medical procedures?
This kind of information can help you start to piece together if you think you might have an intersex variation, or if you think your intersex variation was hidden from you.
If you’re sending in an ask trying to figure out if your symptoms line up with a specific intersex variation, please share as much information as you’re comfortable with so that we can answer with the most helpful resources.
4. Can I self diagnose as intersex?
It’s complicated! Intersex is different from other LGBTQIA identities, in that it’s not only about self determination, but also about our embodied experience in a very specific way. In order to be intersex, you have to have an intersex variation. And there are many intersex variations that can only be confirmed through medical testing, so it’s not something that is easy to self-diagnose.
However, we recognize that the medical system is expensive, discriminatory, and often actively hides information about people’s intersex variations from them. (it wasn’t even until 2006 that the AAP stopped recommending that doctors lie to their patients about intersex status, so many intersex adults were born before that policy change!) Considering all that we know about intersex oppression, curative violence, and medical abuse, it feels incredibly cruel to tell people that they have to force themself through that system in order to seek answers.
So, we understand that there are ways of finding out that you are intersex without having a specific, confirmed, medical diagnosis. Many of us might find out that we’re intersex because we realize that our genitalia visibly looks different, and we can tell that we are intersex, even if we don’t know our specific diagnosis. Others might find out that we’re intersex because of strange discrepancies in our medical record. We might find out through discovering surgery scars on our body. We might go through puberty and realize that we’re developing in an atypical way to our peers. We might do a lot of research into intersex variations and have a pretty good guess into what variation lines up with our experiences. We might have some test results that help us understand we have intersex traits, even if we don’t know our specific diagnosis.
Before self diagnosing, we think it’s important to do thorough research into intersex variations, so that you truly understand what intersex means, what intersex variations exist, and understand how that information applies to yourself. It’s also important to be considerate of how we interact in community spaces, and respect other intersex people's boundaries as you engage in a questioning or diagnosis process.
5. Are intersex people trans?
Some intersex people are trans, and some aren’t. Most intersex people are still assigned a gender at birth, and many intersex people who are raised as one gender and then later identify as another gender identify with the label trans. Intersex people can be cis or trans just like any other group of people.
Many intersex people have complicated relationships with gender, and don’t feel like labels like cis or trans really fit their experiences. For this reason, terms like intergender and ipsogender were coined.
6. Are intersex people LGBTQIA?
It’s complicated! The “I” in LGBTQIA stands for intersex. Intersex history is intertwined with other parts of queer history. For example, the very first protest for intersex people in the United States was organized by Hermaphrodites with Attitude and Transexual Menace. There are intersex inclusive versions of community pride flags. Many intersex people view their intersex identity as a queer identity. Intersex oppression overlaps in many ways with homophobia and transphobia.
However, not all intersex people think that intersex should be included in the LGBTQIA community. Sometimes this is for bigoted reasons, with intersex radfems who use this stance as a way to be transphobic. But there are also intersex people who think that the “I” should only be included in the acronym when intersex people are actually meaningfully being included in queer spaces and resources. Many of us feel frustrated when people put “LGBTQIA” on a resource but then don’t actually have any intersex specific information in those resources.
In general, this is an ongoing intracommunity discussion where we don’t have a consensus.
7. Are intersex people disabled?
It’s complicated! Intersex is an umbrella term for many different experiences, and there is not one universal intersex experience. Some intersex people identify as disabled. Some intersex people do not.
Many intersex variations do cause disabling impacts in our bodies and lives. Some intersex variations are comorbid with other health conditions. Other intersex people become disabled because of violent normalizing interventions we’ve survived, such as forced surgery or other types of medical abuse.
Intersex people are also impacted by many of the same structures of oppression that harm disabled people. Both intersex people and disabled people are harmed by ableism. Both intersex people and disabled people are harmed by pathologization. Both intersex people and disabled people are harmed by curative violence.
In the book Cripping Intersex, Celeste Orr explores all these concepts and creates something called “intersex is/and/as/with disability,” which is a model to think about all these different and sometimes conflicting relationships with disability. Some intersex people might identify directly as disabled. Others might sometimes think about the way that intersex is treated as a disability. Other intersex people might think about intersex and disability as a way to have solidarity. All of these relationships with disability are meaningful parts of the intersex community.
8. What is intersex oppression/intersexism/interphobia/compulsory dyadism?
Intersex people face a lot of oppression in many ways in society. At the core, intersex oppression relies on the idea that the only acceptable sex traits are sex traits that fit into the sex binary. Intersex oppression relies on mythical ideas of the “ideal male or female” body, where someone's chromosomes perfectly line up with their genitalia and internal reproductive organs, with perfectly normal hormone levels and perfect secondary sex characteristics that don’t have any variation. When people don’t fit into that “perfect” sex binary, they are seen as less valuable, abnormal, and threatening. There is then a societal pressure to eradicate any traits and people that fall outside of the sex binary, which causes a lot of targeted discrimination of intersex people. This form of oppression is called “compulsory dyadism,” and was coined by Celeste Orr.
Compulsory dyadism is also rooted in, overlaps with, and is the foundation for many other types of oppression. For example, ableism is another form of oppression that creates ways of harming people whose bodies and minds are labeled as less valuable for societally constructed reasons. Check out Talila Lewis’s definition of ableism for more information. Another example is how racialized people are targeted by sex testing policies in sports--both intersex and perisex women of color are consistently targeted by sex testing policies designed to exclude intersex people from sports. Another example is that homophobia and transphobia contribute to why intersex bodies are seen as threats that need to be eradicated--society views existing with intersex sex traits as a slippery slope to growing up as a gay or trans adult. Compulsory dyadism is also at the root of a lot of transphobic rhetoric about how transitioning “ruins” people’s bodies. All these forms of oppression are connected.
There are a lot of ways that compulsory dyadism causes intersex people to be targeted and discriminated against. A huge issue is nonconsensual surgeries at birth, that attempt to “normalize” ambiguous genitalia, remove intersex people’s gonads, and otherwise alter genitalia or internal structures. These surgeries are often referred to as intersex genital mutilation, or IGM. These surgeries do not have any medical necessity, but doctors lobby to continue to be allowed to perform them anyway. These surgeries can sterilize intersex people, cause lifelong trauma, and also cause many disabling medical complications. Alongside IGM, intersex people also face a lot of different types of medical abuse.
Besides curative violence and medical abuse, intersex people also face discrimination in our schools, jobs, and public places. We face legal discrimination in changing our names and sex markers. We face discrimination from institutions like CPS, which often target parents, especially people of color, that refuse to put their children through intersex genital mutilation. Many intersex people survive targeted sexual violence. We have a widespread lack of resources, visibility, and representation. Many people still have prejudiced ideas about intersex people and call us slurs. These are just a few examples of the many way that interphobia/intersexism show up in our lives.
9. What is intersex justice?
Intersex justice is a framework created by intersex activists through the Intersex Justice Project as a way to fight for intersex liberation.
“Intersex justice is a decolonizing framework that affirms the labor of intersex people of color fighting for change across social justice movements. By definition, intersex justice affirms bodily integrity and bodily autonomy as the practice of liberation. Intersex justice is intrinsically tied to justice movements that center race, ability, gender identity & expression, migrant status, and access to sexual & reproductive healthcare. Intersex justice articulates a commitment to these movements as central to its intersectional analysis and praxis. Intersex justice acknowledges the trauma caused by medically unnecessary and nonconsensual cosmetic genital surgeries and addresses the culture of shame, silence and stigma surrounding intersex variations that perpetuate further harm.
The marginalization of intersex people is rooted in colonization and white supremacy. Colonization created a taxonomy of human bodies that privileged typical white male and female bodies, prescribing a gender binary that would ultimately harm atypical black and indigenous bodies. As part of a liberation movement, intersex activists challenge not only the medical establishment, which is often the initial site of harm, but also governments, institutions, legal structures, and sociocultural norms that exclude intersex people. Intersex people should be allowed complete and uninhibited access to obtaining identity documents, exercising their birth and adoption rights, receiving unbiased healthcare, and securing education and employment opportunities that are free from harm and harassment.” (Source: Dr. Mel Michelle Lewis through the Intersex Justice Project.)
There are seven principles to intersex justice:
Informed consent
Reparations
Legal protections
Accountability
Language
Children's rights
Patient-centered healthcare
10. What is intergender?
Intergender is a gender identity for use by intersex people only. It doesn’t have one specific definition-it is used by intersex people to mean a whole variety of things. It’s used to describe the unique ways our intersex experience intersects with and influences our gender. Some people use it as a modifying term, such as calling themselves an intergender man or woman, as a way to explain the way being intersex affects their identity. Other people identify solely as intergender, and have that be their whole gender.
11. What is dyadic/perisex/endosex?
All are words that mean “not intersex.” Different groups will have different preferences on which one they like to use.
12. Is hermaphrodite an offensive term?
Yes. It is an incredibly offensive slur that perisex people should never say. Many intersex people have a very painful history with the slur. Some of us reclaim the term, which can be an important act of healing and celebration for us.
12. Can perisex people follow?
Feel free, but understand that questions by intersex people are prioritized! Anyone is welcome to follow.
13. I’m writing a character who’s intersex…

Life Update
Hey so I know y'all like my art and all but college is creeping up on me so I might start posting less
I appreciate all the comments dearly, I really do, thank you so much for being so interested in my artworks and supporting me, but for now I really gotta take a break..
I might start going in a half-hiatus?? kind of state, where I'll be online but, not as active as I usually do...
This might change in the future, hopefully it does because I genuinely enjoy making silly art. This post is also going to be like some kind of time capsule to remind myself of SHIT I NEED TO DO.
I'm just filled with so much uncertainty at the moment...
If you read this all the way, thank you. (. ❛ ᴗ ❛.)
(More yapping + potential art/concepts I plan to make underneath the cut)
(I repeat, some of these aren't final, just concepts)
Redesigning the entire undertale red and yellow cast into my style ( + the human souls )
Make a fuckign reference sheet for my persona
3 UTY AUs I plan to make
1st AU (Gameshow!AU) : Clover is aware of resets and they work along side Flowey with each other their own seperate goals (Clover - for the 5 missing children, Flowey - you already know), both of them treat the monsters and life itself as a video game and see everyone as nothing else but an NPC that exists in the game of life, however, deep down Clover genuinely cares and gets attached to everyone and their stories, but for the other's sake they have to pretend, pretend they don't care, pretend they're dismissive of everyone, and pretend to be the villain they claim they are. If they don't, Flowey will catch up and notice something's wrong so Clover just plays along as Flowey pulls on their strings and keep up the facade.
2nd AU (Insanity!AU) : Everyone's Insane, it's basically like the rot comic except Clover is actually alive this time and they witness everyone just spiraling into madness. They're just so sucked up and so mentally fucked it, it feeds my delulu brain. (Example: Starlo losing his identity and not knowing who he is anymore because of how much he pretended to be someone he wasn't) (it's giving horrortale without the cannibalism lol)
3rd AU (Sci-Fi!AU) : basically everyone is like working in a company like uhm.. Mission Impossible type style or smth... like... they gotta save clover from Flowey's antics or smth idk man I'm cringe asf. The fiesty 4 is ganna be there along with Decibat and Penilla, Ceroba is going to be like the main focus since she's the one doing the planning and all. (Everyone is going to be in uniform and everything omg theyre so cool)
Some actual domestic and cute fluffy art because god damn I make so much sad shit HAHAHA (Examples: Beach Barbeque party, laundry day, grocery/clothes shopping in the surface)
More animations/animatics
Other things that aren't related to uty
As for the rot comic series I kinda(?) made in the r/UndertaleYellow sub, posts will get slower. I already mentioned it on reddit but I'll just copypaste what I said here.
If you want my reddit acc uhhhhh here lol (Also speaking of reddit holy SHIT I GOT AN AWARD???? I also loved reading the really long texts omg I love it when people hyper analyze shit)
And speaking of analyze.. did you guys notice Starlo's thingy on his hat was supposed to be a heartbeat? :3c
#i'll update this as i go#ganna do logs and shit lmao#omg I'm ganna be just like chujin this is so cool#anyway#FUCK ADULTING

hey undertale/deltarune fandom im dumping a bunch of headcanons on you that may or may not be popular/adopted from other people or just might be flat out canons
spoilers for undertale, undertale yellow, and deltarune, i suppose.
- Kris wishes they could wear something besides the same shirt constantly but don't feel like doing anything about it
- Frisk had a rough life at home and Toriel might have reminded them of it a little bit at first. this rough life is possibly why they climbed Mt. Ebott in the first place.
- If Ralsei is evil, he doesn't have it in him to betray the party. I don't think he is, though, and with the direction the story is going think he will be more of a "What you're doing, even if you don't realize it, is wrong" and then he gets all sad and apologizes, changing for the better.
- Frisk's trait is Love, and not Determination. They just happen to possess a large amount of Determination.
- Gaster
- Sans knows all about the multiverse. He studies it as a hobby because it's a special interest of his. He's studied the timeline, the Deja Vu monsters tend to get, all of it. He is a nerd who likes to crack jokes. And neurodivergent.
- I think Charrator theory is true, and I think Chara had some time before Frisk fell down to examine their actions. Possibly realized what they did was wrong. When we do the Geno route, it's like that part of them is reawakened, and they manifest, forever taking control when we aren't. They continue playing along with our silly schemes, but the change we did? It's permanent.
- I like to imagine Flowey has some sense of empathy or feeling. I don't think he does. But, I like to imagine.
- Asgore is bi. Do I need to elaborate??
- I like to imagine Gaster just watching everything from the Void. We don't know enough about him to really *know* anything about him, but I like to imagine him watching over the Underground, cheering from the sidelines, watching over his boys Sans and Papyrus as they do their silly little things
- Heats Flamesman is the knight /j
- Papyrus forces the UTY and UT gangs together, it goes horrible at first but eventually things work out.
- Sans acting completely apathetic and monotone is a coping mechanism
- Sans studied the multiverse, but also some psychology. He understands emotions better than most, reading people's minds just by their body language.
- Sans has tried to explain to Papyrus in at least one timeline the entire multiverse theory and Papyrus just didn't get it
- Common theory, I know, but Kris, Susie, and Ralsei form a trio: Red, Green, and Blue. More notably, Kris, Susie, and Noelle form a much closer trio of: Magenta, Cyan, and Yellow. Just a blind guess based off of this, Noelle might be more important than Ralsei.
- Sans is not the only one aware of the world's mechanics, by a long shot. Frisk knows of them through our help, Flowey has directly messed with the world, Asgore is at least aware of the other children loading their saves. Shopkeeper Tem is just... somehow completely aware of your resets. All monsters get a sort of Deja Vu.
- I feel after the Pacifist ending of UTY Ceroba never truly let go. She either let go of her resentment after Kanako was sent back, or sometime after meeting Alphys and promptly attacking her. Maybe both.
- The cast of UT never really understood the harm they did to the cast of UTY. besides flowey. buut, in the end, Flowey honestly helped everyone whether he meant to or not.
- We, the Player, are just always there. We tell people what to do. We are, however, attached to different hosts for different reasons. Maybe there's some higher power pulling the strings, moving us around. Maybe there's just a system.
- Papyrus isn't naïve. He's quite clever and powerful. He just isn't really bothered by a lot. Not enough for it to matter to him, anyways.
- Asgore has to force himself to agree that ehat he's doing is right. Always. It hurts him, but I think UT is his breaking point, where he can't take it anymore. He's being dealing with everything for so long, and... There's just something about them. Frisk. That reminds him so much of Asriel. He can't keep his guard up around them.
is this list too long yet
im stopping here for now
I accidentally posted this without tags whoops
#undertale#undertale yellow#deltarune#sans undertale#wd gaster#frisk undertale#chara dreemurr#the player (us)#i know this is a lot of tags yall i just dont wanna be screaming into the Void™

i have been trying and failing to make a well-worded post about the wild increase in ageism i've been seeing from people who claim to be progressive and anti-discrimination that appropriately extracts the issue from current politics in a way that will actually let people understand what i'm talking about without it getting mistaken for some kind of apologia but this is honestly bothering me so much i don't care anymore
calling every older or elderly person who is doing things you dislike "demented" or talking about how they must have "dementia" or be "sundowning" is ageism flat out, with a nice soupçon of ableism on top
the automatic assumption that dementia is just something that 'happens' to every elderly person is ageism (and also ableism) and also a very harmful and frightening stereotype
the lack of understanding of what dementia actually is and what it looks like, as opposed to other neurodegenerative disorders and disorders that can cause cognitive decline or cognitive disruption as symptoms, is actively harmful
the people this harms are not the wealthy and privileged people who are doing the things you dislike
the people this harms are regular people who not only have to deal with an extremely youth-focused culture, widespread age-based discrimination, and widespread ableism but also the stereotype that every elderly person who doesn't speak with the clarity, diction, and humorlessness of a news anchor must be demented
the old lady who is being forced out of her home so her children can sell it and profit off the house she's lived for most of her life because they're saying she's got "dementia" and needs to be institutionalized is a victim of elder abuse enabled by this stereotype
the old man with a uti who starts having cognitive disruption caused by the infection and ends up getting misdiagnosed and foisted off into a skilled nursing facility where no one notices that the infection's reached his kidneys until he's actively septic and dying is a victim of medical malpractice enabled by this stereotype
the old lady who starts slurring her speech and having difficulty remembering isn't demented she's had a fucking stroke and needs to be taken to the hospital
if literally none of the rest of this is enough to get through to anyone please do consider that one day you too will be old and have to deal with every younger person you interact with being willing to dismiss anything you say at any time because hyper youth focused culture has convinced them that everyone over the age of 50 is a decrepit mummy about to precipitously start losing mental faculties
the sheer disdain and virulent hate i've been seeing recently as people express their feelings about The Current Politics...while using every derogatory term for elderly people they can think of....everyone needs to remember that insult reflection meme because whichever current politician you hate can't hear you saying that everyone over 70 should be forced into a rest home but your older family members sure fucking can
real true life story of someone i know:
elderly person went to the ER and got stuck in a bed in the hallway for three days because it was so overcrowded. when they went in they were completely oriented and aware, no cognitive decline of any kind, and by the time they managed to get out of there, after spending three days in pain and unable to sleep at all because they were laying in a bed, in a brightly lit and busy hallway, where people were constantly walking past and intercoms were constantly sounding overhead, the discharging nurse was trying to connect them with a social worker to help their family get them into care for their dementia because they'd gotten hospital delirium but never actually been assessed for their cognitive function so the nurse just assumed they must normally be like this
i don't think anyone here really understands how easily that even a young and healthy person being put under stressors like lack of sleep and illness can start having cognitive issues. every healthy 20-something i have ever interacted with who's told a funny story about how they barely got any sleep for a few days and then had some amusing cognitive slip, especially those who've then turned around and dismissed an older person as being "demented", are really only 30-40 years away from being that older person who's dismissed as being "demented"
once again, if you are very lucky, then someday you too will be old and having to deal with how our culture treats the elderly so it is in our best interests to start changing that culture NOW
#this has been simmering for a few days but i just saw a post from someone freshly-blocked that really made me lose it#this isn't about politics this is not about politics#everyone is just being extremely shitty about age

This may be way off base but do you think there’s something to Kendall being the one handling Logan’s medication in S2 (and as such, looped into his health and medical care) and Roman and Shiv not being aware that Logan had a UTI in S3? I’m doing a rewatch and hadn’t connected these points before when the show was airing but I can’t help but link them now. Like, I can’t help but wonder if this gets at what Logan does or doesn’t share, or is comfortable sharing, with each child but I could also just be seeing things. Any thoughts?
I don't think you're way off base at all, anon, I think Logan's really specific about the vulnerabilities that he shares with his children, and his health is absolutely one of them.
This is a slight tangent, because I don't think the intent behind them is the same, but I do always find it interesting that Connor seems to be the only one Logan actually talked to about his death. He spends so much time avoiding that topic with the Golden Trio, but Connor's the only one who knew about the family plot / tomb and the backstory to it, he's the one to handle all the funeral arrangements, he's the one who - by speaking to their father about cryogenics - was talking about the realities and un-realities of death.
That's not something Logan ever does with Kendall, Roman or Shiv, and it's interesting to think about Logan syphoning off his feelings of vulnerability to disperse among his children. I do think a part of its genuine - I think Logan's terrified of feeling ganged up on by them, and I think he really does value that feeling of individual intimacy that comes with sharing in those moments - but I also think he knows it deepens divides and insecurities between them and keeps all of them isolated in their knowledge and lack there of.
Things can, and often do, mean more than one thing after all, and I think the show always relished in that.
But yes, more to the point of your question, I think Kendall managing Logan's health in s2 meant a lot of things, but I also think it most pointedly echoes Logan's words in the s1 finale.
I think there's a lot to be said about the way health brokers this degree of intimacy regardless, but nursing and doctoring are highly gendered, and Logan's emasculation of Kendall is a real throughline of the series. Care-based roles like nursing are inherently pink-collar, they're feminine, and in saying that in this scene, Logan's deliberately emasculating Kendall, but also the very idea of 'doing good'.
Kendall taking over Logan's meds in s2 I do think is meant to indicate a degree of thematic castration, but I also think it's designed to show Kendall's attempts to atone for Doddy's death. He's being a fucking nurse, he's doing good things. Even if they are just for his dad.
I think that there's also an argument to be made that Kendall perhaps also is seen by both Logan and the siblings to 'get' the health stuff better. I think a lot of that probably comes from him being the eldest of the golden trio, but also from being in rehab and his own struggles, and from Iverson (it's been interesting reading the scripts because I think they do indicate that a] Kendall does think about Sophie and Iverson more than what makes it to screen [even though this still isn't as much as he should and he is still without doubt a terrible father, haha] and b] he's a little more across Iverson's needs than we see / it's more explicit I think in the scripts that Iverson is intended to be on the autism spectrum). He's more experienced, if nothing else, y'know? And I think in the Roy network, that counts when no one else wants to deal with something.
As for this and the UTI incident being linked - - yeah, I think they are. I think there's a space that Kendall and Logan occupy together that's just theirs, and that we as an audience are supposed to extrapolate that Kendall could've (and would've) managed that situation better or, more realistically, never would've let it get to that point in the first place.
How much that's actually true, who knows, but I do think there's a deeper read of their relationship which is its own beast really. I actually have another ask in my inbox about Kendall and Logan's particular dynamic which I've been percolating on, so I hope you don't mind me leaving this here! I'll answer the other (and link back to this ;-) ) in the morning.
#it's been soooo interesting reading the s2 scripts#so much was cut!#the dynamics of it all#funnily enough i do think kendall is forever the one logan trusts the most#which isn't about competence but more that he's the most groomed#which is kind of my point in the ask i'll answer tomorrow#welcome to my ama#kendall roy#logan roy#kendall + logan#hbo succession#succession meta

When you call/compare circumcision to genital mutilation it obfuscates the abuse, severity, and long term consequences of both FGM practices and intersex surgeries. Both often lead to lifelong health risks and complications which will result in essentially chronic illness, requiring more surgeries, chronic UTIs and other issues related to reproductive and urinary organs.
In the case of FGM, girls in the least severe type have their clitoral hood and clitoris removed - biologically this is somewhat analogous to castration in bio males/complete removal of the penis. This causes chronic pain, nerve problems, and removes the possibility of pleasure from external stimulation. None of these are intents or possibilities in removal of the male foreskin, whereas in FGM one intent is to remove pleasure. In the worst cases, all of the external genitalia are removed - the clitoris, the labia, the vulva; in addition the vaginal opening is frequently sewn smaller or shut. These girls are held down and this is done to them with no anesthetic and often with blunt tools. They have chronic pain and serious lifelong health complications, will never experience sexual pleasure, and many will never safely carry a child. It is a devastating crime intended to control girl’s bodies, sexuality, and has horrible physical, emotional and social consequences. Again, none of these are intended outcomes of male circumcision and the vast, vast majority of circumcised men will never experience anything like this as a result of circumcision.
I say this as a man, who cares deeply for both men’s and women’s issues. I know intimately there are plenty of overlooked men’s issues some of which you touch on here. I would never tell you not to have your opinion on circumcision, and I understand the importance of your perspective and arguments, however the comparison is scientifically unsound. Many of those making these arguments have never gotten nearly so roused and upset about cases of actual child mutilation- they are interestingly only fixated on male circumcision, and very quick to become antisemitic over it. None of them seem even half as concerned about FGM or intersex children. If you are not already aware of the over 2000 years of antisemitic persecution and murder of Jewish men simply for being circumcised, it’s a piece of history I recommend looking into. I personally have been told to pull my pants down because someone wanted to know if I’m a Jew. I do connect with the spiritual significance of a bodily modification that has done me no physical harm - but I have been frightened and put in danger by people’s antisemitism related to our tribal practice. Given you have never actually experienced life as a circumcised male I thought I would share my thoughts.
Do you think that circumcision doesn’t… also have long term averse health outcomes, dangers, and ethical concerns? Yes, FGM is bad, very bad, but just because circumcision is a more specific modification and has different connotations doesn’t make it worthy of ignoring. Both can be bad, even if one is worse.
My criticism has nothing to do with Judaism at all. A majority of American men are both not Jewish and circumcised due to misinformation and a strange perception of cleanliness that it supposedly provides. And even if it was entirely a Jewish practice, people are allowed to criticize religious practices instead of allowing a practice to continue just because it’s always been done.
If you want to be circumcised as an adult and you’ve made that decision for yourself for religious or spiritual reasons or whatever that is fine and I’m not speaking against that, but I am speaking against doing so to a child or infant who cannot make that choice for themselves and cannot be undone.

So... Yeah I am part of the 80% of intellectually disabled women.
This is my story and why I believe children should have proper sex education in school and have a discussion with their parents. I Beg of you to know the signs especially if you are Autistic or a parent of an Autistic child. We are at such a higher risk than others and not having the knowledge of what sex even is makes it inevitable.
How can one speak up for themselves if they do not have the words to describe what happened to them?
WARNING- This discusses sexual assault, rape, and statistics of it happening to Autistic women. Please be aware of your triggers viewer's discretion is advised.
This is really hard to write about let alone speak about. I can count the number of people I have told about the incident on one hand. I suppose I shouldn't call it an "incident". Incident applies it only happened once... that is not the case. You may be wondering why I would post about it on the internet if I'd rather push the memory to the darkest place of my mind and never think about it again. I don't have much luck pushing the memories away they resurface every once in a while. I don't think I am the only woman who feels this way, so I want to share my story. I want you to know you're not alone and I want parents to know how to protect their children plus know the signs.
SIGNS TO LOOK FOR
Refusing to bathe
Bathing to much
Frequent UTIs
Isolation
Wetting the bed
Scared to be touch
Becoming a germaphobe out of nowhere
Nightmares
Refusing to change
Refusing to wear the clothes they once loved
Refusing to sleep
Becoming mute
Seeming on edge or jumpy
I feel sick typing the story let alone saying it but a therapist said writing the trauma down is a part of the moving-on process. I don't even have to show it to anyone might even just delete this. Then maybe I can work up to saying it out loud one day.
I was seven and I was a victim of child-on-child sexual abuse known as COSCA. It was my babysitter's son he was four years older than me and I had failure to thrive so I was always much smaller and weaker compared to everyone around me. I still believed myself much stronger than the doctors and my parents deemed me. I would wrestle anyone I was the definition of a tomboy girl who grew up on a farm. My father told me not to wrestle with the neighbor boys. To this day I wonder if he knew the boy had other intentions. It started with teasing and pushing me around. I was unaware of what friendship looked like I was young and undiagnosed autistic so I thought it was normal. I went there every day after school my mom worked insane hours and so did my dad. This was the time of the recession and my medical bills were insane because I saw a gastro specialist that we could not afford. My neighbors babysat me for free and knew of my family's situation that was used against me. The boy would make me go to his room he told me if I told anyone what he did to me he would tell his mom to stop babysitting me then my parents wouldn't be able to work. I knew we would lose the house or I wouldn't be able to go to the doctor and I couldn't let that happen. I didn't understand what he did to me or why he wanted to I just know I felt dirty and disgusting. I never wanted to be touched again everything was disgusting. Human bodies were disgusting and I did not understand them. It went on for months and only stopped because we did indeed lose the house and had to move. This fact made it all worse that I had been forced to do these things for nothing. I did not grasp what happened to me until I was seventeen because no one had taught me what sex was I learned from books all on my own. School taught abstinence and I never had a discussion with my parents about it.
I find myself frequently thinking of him. Does he remember what he did to me? Did he do it to others? I wish I had spoken up if not to help myself but for others. But truly how can one speak up when one does not have the words to explain what happened to them.
I want you all to know you are loved you are not alone. I felt utterly alone as a child because I didn't understand what happened to me so I hope my story can help you not have that feeling. COSCA is still sexual assault you are valid. You are not what happened to you. You are so much more.

Pan of the Infinite Realms
To sing in mourning: bittersweet.
Occasionally during these weeks following his passing, I have found myself struck, in contemplation of the father as mythical being, by the image of Pan, rustic God of the wild, goat-horned satyr, famed piper and, by all accounts, general mischief-maker. In spite of Pan’s status as an outcast from the snowy-peaked heights of Mount Olympus—a figure who categorically refused the pomp and grandeur of Zeus’ impetuous brood—the wild God’s unimposing presence was epic, even if only for its tacit reach. There’s something of Pan in the attention to proximity: of being aware of the boundaries between self and those in orbit that plays out through this self-distancing, a recurring displacement of the shapeshifter as he moves along the parallax gap between a retreat into ostracism and the act of caring from afar. Pan: everything, anything, and perhaps especially all those things you hadn’t altogether noticed. Frederick, my father, was, to me, the epitome of the unspoken imperative, quite in contrast to the loud souls surrounding those types of men I’d observe who couldn’t keep their words, their habits or their worldviews contained.
Frederick was never loud, in my recollection. There was a song-like cadence to the inflection of his words, even in those rare instances when he’d engage his booming voice—for there are times when, no matter the family dynamic, the semblances of a father’s authority is demanded. When he spoke, it would often border on the mumble, such that one was inclined to strain in order to hear the words being said. To the uninitiated, this might have seemed the behaviour of the anxiously unsure: of one whose emotions had gone cold, held back and kept tight under guard. It’s true that Fred was not loud in his emotions or his moods, but he showed his love for family and community through his actions. He was generous in his attention, even if it only ever emerged from the outliers. He’d always ask how you were getting on, always eager to hear what you’d been up to, and especially what you thought about the secret whispers of existence or the ways you navigated the various folds of the space-time continuum. His presence, though soft, or at least one that was registered only with a deceptively light touch, became important for those of us who knew the value of having someone to watch over the situation with careful and sympathetic eyes. Someone who made the effort to see you.
Pan was said to be the ugliest God. Well, I think I’ll let that specific part of the constellation skip over into incoherence, unless I wish also to implicate myself and my dear siblings, my fellow autochtha, in this charge of unsightliness. But I can say that there was perhaps some evidence of an aversion to beauty as an ultimate value in Fred, if by ‘beauty’ we mean the type embodied by magazine spreads or movie screens. And if ‘aversion’ is too strong a term here, perhaps ‘indifference’ will do more aptly. In their wedding photos, both Frederick and Veronica (who, among many other things is the mother of his children) look stunning, so it’s not as if he couldn’t lean into, or be swayed, by the gravity of the aesthetic. But in his later years, and personally, for me, in his most handsome of forms, Fred would let his face grow wild until his big bushy beard would catch crumbs. He’d eat heartily without regard to the shape of his tummy. He’d sometimes let the cobwebs grow and the ‘bits’ on the carpet meander at his apartment in Parramatta. When I helped Veronica clean his cottage late ‘22, when he’d been admitted to Campbelltown hospital with the double threat of a UTI and Covid-19, I marvelled at the community of spiders he’d left prospering on his top window by the front door (which was actually his side door, but that's a longer story).
Pan was a much loved piper. I remember how special I felt to be a part of the band at Sadlier at our little church close to our home in Ashcroft and the school I attended. Well to be honest, just between you and me, I wasn’t really part of the band per se, I was really just sitting at the back with the rest of the band, singing along. But I’d go to the rehearsals each week where at least a couple of siblings would be strumming guitars and Fred would play flighty green melodies on his flute. And as far as Fred was concerned, I was part of the band, same as anyone.
In his image, I’m reminded of talk about the fruit freshest from the vine. By which I think I mean to say that even in his advanced age there was something young and carefree to his presence. Being the youngest, I made a particular point of contrast with the oldest member of the family, even if only in our respective ages. I think there was something in me that embodied the audacity and recklessness of youth: the freedom to take the fool’s role and the rebel's cause. It may just be my imagination but I always felt that Fred appreciated my sense of mischief, and perhaps encouraged it to a degree, if not outright endorsing. I mean, he’d never tell directly if he did. Fred was 38 years old when I was born so I never had the pleasure of knowing him as a younger man. In many of the photos we have of his earlier life I notice how broadly he used to smile. When I look at these photos I imagine in the moments of their taking, he’d felt a sense of self-purpose and that he had faith, either in himself or something beyond to which he was connected, and that he held the ideas he brought into the world passionately, close to his heart. As his youngest child I can only smile in the hopes that I can continue this legacy. That we all can.
The man I knew may not have smiled as openly or as vigorously—or at least not for those pointing cameras at him—but humour was never far from his grasp, his bag of tricks always ready at hand. His impish joy would shine brightest in those moments when you were the only one to catch his underhanded joke over the busy dinner table, and he’d smile just as broadly when you passed the same joke back to him ten minutes later. Even once his health began to slide, over these past few years, he was never despondent, never faithless. He was the type who'd crack jokes to the nurses as he limped, blood trickling down his face, and looking as if he’d just barely scraped through a minefield.
Various stories abound regarding Pan’s ancestry and progeny. Some place him as the son of Hermes, others that he was the foster-brother of Zeus, and thus Hermes’ uncle and teacher in music. Other tales have him being older than Zeus, a son of Cronus and Rhea. It’s hard not to think, in this tangle of identity, of those generational traits and recurring faces that are familiar to any who are part of a family tree that takes particular stock of their ancestors’ tales, and holds them close. In this sense, Pan becomes something quite personal, taking on a specific form and imbued with a particular emotional intensity.
Pan, to me, is the spirit of a quiet, smiling face or a particular high-pitched tenor to the questioning voice. Or sometimes he’s a mood: a restlessness that borders on nervousness which, in the end, drifts towards the gentle silence that can emerge between careful minds. He's an inclination to pull the brightest light close to the soul in order to reflect, but not close enough to hinder its flight-path. An idea that comes to you as if from nowhere, before realising that even all of those sweet secret moments in which the ‘self’ reveals its ‘self’ had been, in part, passed down to you along the river's flow. Pan is everything, the interdimensional Möbius loop as well as the tangled mess of phone cords you keep in an old drawer.
In Plutarch, a story related by the historian Philip, tells of Thamus, an Egyptian sailor bound for Rome who had heard a divine voice proclaim that “the great god Pan is dead!” In his compendium, The Greek Myths, Robert Graves writes that Pausanias, while touring Greece roughly a century after this declaration was recorded, had “found Pan’s shrines, altars, sacred caves, and sacred mountains still much frequented.” Perhaps it’s only in this way that we know the value of the wild: once it has been all-but purged from our hyper-aware state of self consciousness.
Perhaps the death of Pan struck such a chord to those in this time of Thamus because it was more than the story of the death of a God, it was also the death of a way of thinking about ‘The Gods,’ which over aeons had shifted, from the rustic ideals of nature as life-giving, passed down through our various oral, aural and psychical transmissions had mutated into the icons of those grandiloquent beings that stood beyond reach as if looking down in judgement from above. If a God could die, it meant that the Gods were like us after all. Let them die to let them live. Let us honour the Gods as being like us, rather than placing them on a pedestal of worship. In this, Pan was perhaps closer to Gaia and Hades than he ever was to the self-assured Zeus. Not transcendental—in the sky—but of the earth below.
I’m not going to pretend that Frederick had any particular inclination towards the Greek gods, or at least he ever shared it with me if he did. He was more into the druidic mysteries and his runes, the teachings of the elders of the Navaho, and the stories of the carpenter of Nazareth than he was in the usual classical fare of ancient history as conceived in ‘the West.’ As such, I should point out that this is in part my picture that I paint over the outline of the father, in the hopes that he won’t mind too much me placing him there, and in fact might find himself at home with the figure of Pan who I have come to love and respect, two archetypes blending.
For the love of the father, his kindness and his gentleness and all of the ways that he shined in his own way I offer three silent cries to the dead God: Pan of the infinite realms. Long may you return to us, and especially in those moments in which we forget what we’ve forgotten.

At what age is male circumcision typically performed?
Male circumcision, the surgical removal of the foreskin covering the head of the penis, is typically performed at different ages depending on cultural, religious, and medical considerations.
Here’s an overview of when circumcision is typically performed:
Infancy:
1. Timing:
Within the First Few Days: In many cultures and medical practices, circumcision is commonly performed within the first few days after birth. This early timing is believed to make the procedure simpler and less traumatic for the infant.
2. Reasons:
Cultural and Religious: Many families choose circumcision for their sons shortly after birth due to cultural or religious traditions. For example, in Judaism and Islam, circumcision is an important ritual.
Medical: Some medical organizations suggest that circumcision in infancy may have health benefits, such as a reduced risk of urinary tract infections (UTIs) and certain sexually transmitted infections (STIs) later in life.
3. Procedure:
Simple and Quick: Circumcision in infancy is typically a quick procedure, often performed under local anesthesia. The recovery time is usually short, and complications are rare when performed by trained healthcare professionals.
Childhood and Adolescence:
1. Medical Reasons:
Recurrent Infections: If a child experiences recurrent urinary tract infections or certain penile conditions (like phimosis or balanitis) that do not respond to other treatments, circumcision may be recommended.
2. Cultural or Religious Considerations:
Families who did not opt for circumcision at birth may choose to do so for cultural, religious, or personal reasons during childhood or adolescence.
3. Procedure:
More Complex: Circumcision in older children and adolescents may require general anesthesia due to the child’s increased awareness and sensitivity. The recovery period is longer compared to infants.
Adulthood:
1. Medical Indications:
Phimosis: In adulthood, circumcision may be performed if a man develops phimosis (tight foreskin that cannot be pulled back over the head of the penis) that does not respond to other treatments.
2. Personal Choice:
Conversion or Personal Preference: Some adults may choose circumcision for personal reasons, such as conversion to a religion that practices circumcision or perceived hygiene benefits.
3. Procedure:
More Involved: Circumcision in adults is a more complex surgical procedure compared to infants or children, often requiring general anesthesia and involving a longer recovery period.
Considerations:
Health Benefits vs. Risks: The decision to circumcise at any age involves weighing potential health benefits (like reduced UTI risk and easier hygiene) against the risks of the procedure (such as bleeding, infection, and surgical complications).
Cultural and Ethical Considerations: Circumcision is a culturally and ethically sensitive issue, and decisions should be made with consideration of religious beliefs, personal preferences, and medical guidance.
In conclusion, circumcision is most commonly performed in infancy for cultural, religious, and perceived health benefits. However, it can also be performed later in childhood, adolescence, or adulthood for medical reasons or personal choice, with each age group presenting unique considerations for the procedure.

Exploring Urology: A Comprehensive Guide to Understanding the Specialty
Introduction:
In the vast realm of medical specialties, urology stands out as a field dedicated to the intricate workings of the urinary system and male reproductive organs. Often misunderstood or overlooked, urology plays a crucial role in diagnosing, treating, and managing conditions that affect these vital bodily functions. Let's delve into the depths of urology to uncover what it entails and why it's essential.
What is Urology?
Urology is a branch of medicine that focuses on the diagnosis, treatment, and management of disorders related to the urinary tract in both males and females, as well as the male reproductive system. Urologists, the medical professionals specializing in this field, are skilled in addressing a wide range of conditions, from urinary tract infections and kidney stones to prostate cancer and erectile dysfunction.
Understanding the Scope:
The scope of urology is extensive, covering various organs and systems within the body. Some key areas of focus include:
1. Urinary Tract: This comprises the kidneys, ureters, bladder, and urethra. Urologists are trained to diagnose and treat conditions such as urinary tract infections (UTIs), kidney stones, bladder cancer, and urinary incontinence.
2. Male Reproductive System: Urologists also specialize in addressing disorders of the male reproductive organs, including the penis, testes, prostate gland, and seminal vesicles. They provide care for issues such as erectile dysfunction, male infertility, prostate enlargement (benign prostatic hyperplasia), and prostate cancer.
3. Pediatric Urology: Urology extends its expertise to pediatric patients, addressing congenital abnormalities of the urinary tract and other urological conditions that affect children.
4. Urologic Oncology: This subspecialty focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of cancers affecting the urinary system and male reproductive organs, including kidney cancer, bladder cancer, prostate cancer, and testicular cancer.
5. Reconstructive Urology: Urologists specializing in reconstructive urology perform surgeries to repair or reconstruct the urinary tract or male reproductive organs following trauma, injury, or congenital abnormalities.
The Role of Urologists:
Urologists play a multifaceted role in healthcare, providing a range of services that encompass:
- Diagnosis: Through comprehensive evaluations and diagnostic tests, urologists identify underlying causes of urological symptoms and conditions.
- Treatment: Urologists employ various treatment modalities, including medications, minimally invasive procedures, and surgery, to address urological issues effectively.
- Management: Beyond treatment, urologists provide ongoing management and follow-up care for chronic conditions, ensuring optimal outcomes and quality of life for their patients.
- Prevention: Urologists also emphasize preventive measures to reduce the risk of urological disorders, such as promoting healthy lifestyle habits and regular screenings for early detection of conditions like prostate cancer.
Collaborative Approach:
Urology often intersects with other medical specialties, necessitating a collaborative approach to patient care. Urologists work closely with primary care physicians, oncologists, nephrologists, gynecologists, and other specialists to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care for patients with complex medical needs.
In Conclusion:
Urology is a dynamic and essential specialty within the field of medicine, addressing a diverse range of conditions that impact the urinary tract and male reproductive system. From diagnosis to treatment and management, urologists play a pivotal role in improving the health and well-being of their patients. By raising awareness and understanding of urological health, we can empower individuals to take proactive steps towards maintaining optimal urological function and overall wellness.

Saima Syed Shares 5 Common Illnesses and Injuries
Understanding common illnesses and injuries is crucial for maintaining good health. Dr. Saima Syed, a dedicated physician based in Snellville, United States, shares her insights on five prevalent health issues. By recognizing symptoms and knowing when to seek medical attention, we can better manage our health and well-being.
1. Common Cold
The ordinary cold is a viral disease affecting the upper respiratory tract. Symptoms include a runny or stuffy nose, sore throat, cough, and mild fever. Dr. Saima Syed recommends frequent handwashing and avoiding close contact with infected individuals to prevent the spread. Rest, hydration, and over-the-counter medications can help alleviate symptoms. Seek medical advice if symptoms persist beyond 10 days or worsen.
2. Influenza (Flu)
Influenza, or the flu, is a highly contagious viral infection that can lead to severe illness, especially in vulnerable populations like young children and the elderly. Signs include high fever, chills, muscle discomfort, and tiredness. Saima Syed advocates for annual flu vaccinations as the most effective prevention method. Good hygiene and avoiding contact with infected individuals can also reduce the risk of transmission. Pursue medical awareness for extreme signs or difficulties.
3. Sprains and Strains
Sprains and strains affect muscles and ligaments due to overuse or injury. Signs include pain, swelling, bruising, and inflexible movement. Dr. Saima Syed suggests reasonable warm-up activities before physical activity, using appropriate equipment, and practicing good posture to prevent these injuries. Initial treatment includes rest, ice, compression, and elevation (R.I.C.E.). Persistent pain or swelling may require medical evaluation.
4. Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs)
UTIs are common, particularly among women, and occur when bacteria enter the urinary tract. Symptoms include a burning sensation during urination, frequent urge to urinate, and pelvic pain. Dr. Syed emphasizes staying hydrated, practicing good hygiene, and urinating after sexual intercourse to prevent UTIs. Immediate medical medicine is necessary to prevent the disease from spreading.
5. Hypertension (High Blood Pressure)
Hypertension is a chronic condition that can lead to severe health problems like heart disease and stroke. Often asymptomatic, it requires regular monitoring, especially for those with risk factors such as obesity or a family history. Dr. Saima Syed advises a healthy diet, regular exercise, reducing salt intake, and avoiding excessive alcohol. Medicines may be required for some individuals.
Conclusion
Understanding and addressing common illnesses and injuries are vital to maintaining good health. Dr. Saima Syed's insights highlight the importance of preventive care, timely intervention, and patient education. By recognizing symptoms early and taking appropriate actions, we can reduce the impact of these health issues and improve our overall quality of life.
