"Nowe!" A familiar, warm hand clasped itself on the younger's shoulder to get his attention as a warm smile grew over Urick from behind him. "Fancy seeing you here. It's been a while!" Urick's smile turned to a warm smirk as he stepped back and placed his hand on his hip, his tone growing slightly teasing. "I certainly hope you've been behaving yourself while I've been gone. Haven't made too many new enemies for yourself, have you?"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nowe nearly jumped from the sudden hand to his shoulder but his wariness quickly became joy. "Urick!" He was relieved to see his friend again after so long. He was also pretty pleased to have mostly positive answers for Urick's question. "Well, I... I've been doing as well as I could but no, I haven't made new enemies. I have made a-!"
Nowe cut himself off and made a thoughtful look as a light blush crawled on his cheeks. (How exactly do I put this...?) He inhaled a bit and decided to reword the statement. "I've begun to court someone. She's a wonderful person. Perhaps I can introduce you both sometime?"

@gothimgem Oh, the misery!! Leonard certainly doesn’t know what he’s done wrong this time, but even with the surprise and confusion on his face, even with the way the broad shoulders flinched like a dog that’s been cruelly kicked down, he’s very well convinced he deserves it for whatever it is he did (or thought).

Ooh if I may I have something to add to this! That the pact took away her PSYCHICAL charm as a main point is actually a huge misconception, it was largely her personal charm it took away — or rather, the mask Hanch wore as a child PURPOSELY to one-up her just-as-beautiful older sister, Alm. The psychical moroseness is a reflection of that, not the intent. That Hanch views her "charm loss" ONLY as psychical and is blind to whats ACTUALLY and uncharming, her personality — moreso the same personality she's ALWAYS had getting pulled up from the mask of her deceptive "charming" personality is the irony of it, sort of like how Yaha's own irony was in his pact price being "pleasure", resulting in the sexual acts he used up till that point being sheer agony and yet sealing off the only person who could alleviate that for him (Urick)
They mention the Hanch thing briefly in a sidequest in the game but the "Her pact price being the charm of her personality and not psychical charm" point is brought up in a few interviews ;0
It's so funny how Drakengard 2 is trying really hard to convince you that Hanch lost her physical beauty as part of her pact and is super ugly and gross and you see her and she is one of the hottest women in the entire series

@argentumvolvi asked:
Something, or someone was trying to destroy the district of Shining Life - it was only by the time Urick had become aware of it that the growing fear he would be dead before even truly being able to reach the district that he had taken notice enough of the suspicious activity around the area to care. Usually there was little more than the subhumans to worry about with the occasional casualty, but now... They didn't seem to be the work of subhumans. They seemed to be targeted. People he knew - people getting closer to the keys. Both Generals had seemed just as agreeable to the request for added security in the case of a mishap, and Urick's leave from the Shrine was scheduled at the earliest convenience to leave an assure the safety of the seal - his own life. Urick seemed to be in a rare moment of visible anxiety as he opened the doors heading back from his address to the Generals, though almost immediately, the momentum was halted to all the stillness of a statue at the recognition of the one waiting for him beyond those doors. Of course he was there - right outside, waiting. Urick couldn't tell whether the sight of that man being like a stray dog that stayed at his heels or a snake that stared and waited just as deceptively upset him more. He once remembered being happy at the surprise of seeing him beyond those doors. "...Yaha." The name was spat out like a curse, Urick's now hardened gaze able only to lock onto the other for a moment before closing and turning away. "I don't have the time to waste on idle goodbyes. If you have something important to tell me, then you'd best spit it out and go." As usual, the tone was cold, yet the hostility brittle - if there was one thing that could serve as comfort to the elf, it was that Urick could never bring himself to delight in the brute behaviour he showed towards his friend. Still, or perhaps because of it, he refused to look his way through his words. A pause. A soft scoff of a laugh, and Urick's back turned. He knew there was only one thing Yaha had to say. "...No. Of course you don't. I meant it when I told you I didn't want to see you, and that isn't about to change, Yaha. So why not do us both a favour and go make someone else's day?" There was a certain bitter edge to his tone as he spoke those last words, a final, perhaps accidental glance cast his way for only a moment before the sound of quickened footsteps sounded through the great corridor, Urick making haste to get away himself with the final words spoken over his shoulder: "I don't know what you're doing back."
The elf's ever cordial smile did not leave his face, even as Urick's every word was like ice cold knives piercing his heart. A small reminder, at least, that he still had one. But as soon as he'd heard about the attacks on the District of Shining Life, he had to come. If not just to see Urick himself, than to offer support. The leutenant made his feelings on the matter of Yaha's company quite clear, however. He dipped his head slightly with a soft chuckle. "We both know the answer to that question, my dear friend. I came as soon as I'd heard. I am certain you will be fine on your own, but I am always here to offer my aid." Ah, but Urick was already leaving and Yaha had to quicken his own pace to catch up. "We should be defending each other, should we not?"
Look at me, he pleaded in his mind, instinctively reaching his hand out to try to touch Urick's shoulder.
Yaha bit his tongue and stopped himself from doing such a rash action. But as much as he wanted to tell him that he'd made that pact for him, it would only fall on deaf ears.

[URICK VERSES]
DRAKENGARD / NIER VERSES
— DoD2 | DEATH WALKED THE EARTH
For years Urick has wandered Midgard, running from his past, the mistakes contained within, and death that he so rightfully deserved as a result of them. Twas a life that Urick had grown accustomed to, and one he had intended on continuing, until he encountered a dear friend from the past, Nowe. Against the Knights of the Seal, Nowe was a raging war, a war that Urick soon agreed to help him with.
To say that Urick didn’t care about the plights of the people that were suffering within the Districts would be a lie, as he did feel bad for them, and was gladdened at the prospect of securing their freedom, but Urick was mainly undertaking this quest for two reasons; to help and protect a dear friend, and to die in a manner he saw most fitting.
No longer would he run from death. Instead, Urick would now fight to feel it’s cold embrace.
Atonement for his cowardice, would it finally come to be? …..
— DoD3 | AT THE GATES OF SLEEP
Dead, Urick was supposed to be dead. The fight with Caim and the fatal blow that psychopath had delivered, his final moments with Nowe, Urick experienced all of it. Yet here he was, alive, and as he soon discovered, in the past.
What a cruel fate this was, to still draw breath, to still walk among the living. The atonement he had fought so hard for, it had been dangled so closely in front of Urick, and at the last moment, it seems that it was ripped away from his grasp.
A blow had been dealt to his soul, but it would not stop Urick. He was lost for a while, wandering aimlessly across this land that was both foreign and familiar to him, regret and pain eating at his conscious day in and day out, but one day, Urick found purpose. That purpose would come in the form of five sisters , whom he soon swore his services to.
Will assisting these women, these 'Intoner's' as they are called, one day give him the chance to atone for his most grievous mistake? it's unclear, but should the day ever come when he see's that atonement is possible, Urick will be there to greet it, though, he is now starting to have doubts about it..
— NIER | INSIDE THIS MACHINE
WIP but follows Urick's DoD3 Verse, where he has once again (after the events of the Final Song) been cast adrift on the currents of time, being spit back out in the timeline around when Nier takes place, and where he then stays all the way until the events of Nier Automata (after having awoken from a sort of stasis), where he might finally get his 'canon' end.
AU VERSES
— FANTASY AU | FALL AWAY
Urick was at one time a Knight Lieutenant in the 'Knights of the Seal', a theocratic empire and order who rules in a land known as 'Midgard', and is dedicated to guarding the supposed seals that keep the fabric of the world in check. After a horrific incident surrounding Urick's former leader, General Oror, Urick left the service of the Knights of the Seal, and set about wandering the land, trying to put as much distance between him, his former responsibilities, his mistakes, and the death he likely deserved for all of it.
Urick would find that he was unable to truly escape anything, however. The trauma from Urick's greatest mistake, and Death, as he was so aptly joined with now (having formed a 'pact' with an entity known as The Reaper), would not relent, and continues to follow him day after day, no matter how happy he seems on the outside. These days, however, Urick has come to terms somewhat with what happened in the past, and now he seeks atonement for his sins-- and once he has that, he intends to end it all, somehow...
However, as Urick wanders through Midgard and other lands searching for that atonement, he is sure to encounter all number of peoples and situations, and who knows how that may impact his quest...? (verse can work for general fantasy interactions, be they crossover-ish or fandomless or otherwise!!)
— MODERN!FANTASY AU | WOOD AND NAILS
WIP but similar premise to FALL AWAY, only in a more Modern setting. Urick is a former member of a government military agency who left after essentially getting it's leader killed, but not before he saved his own hide and forged a pact with The Reaper. For a while Urick traveled the world trying his best to forget about his past but eventually he comes to the conclusion of his guilt being too much to bear, and begins to seek out some means of 'atonement' that will also bring him a true end.
— BAULDRS GATE 3 AU | FALL APART
At one time Urick counted himself among the Knights of the Seal, a prominent order of Paladin's dedicated to the greater deity Torm. Within the Knights of the Seal, Urick held the rank of Paladin Lieutenant, under the command of the famous Paladin General Oror, a man Urick saw as a father figure as well as his superior. However, after nearly being killed during an attack on one of their order's holdings, and after failing to assist Paladin General Oror in said holding's defense (a choice which led to Oror's death), Urick forsook his oath and left the Knights of the Seal in shame.
Urick left the Knights of the Seal with something else, however-- during the battle that nearly claimed his own life and saw the death of Oror, Urick was approached by a mysterious and ghastly entity that referred to itself as 'The Reaper', offering him a 'Pact' that saved his life, at the cost of his own mortality and the binding of his and The Reaper's souls together.
Ever since leaving the Knights of the Seal, Urick has wandered the lands of Faerun, running from his past and the mistakes contained therein, but recently, he has found himself desiring an end to his troubled existence, though not before he atones for his percieved 'sins'. Now situated in the Sword Coast, Urick seeks out purpose, purpose that will lead him to that 'atonement' and the end he so desperate desires…
— FGO AU | UNCAGE THE NIGHT
Brought forth from a failed timeline of humanity's history, Urick is summoned into Chaldea under the Berserker Class. According to the Guardian Heroic Spirit Summoning System "FATE", Urick is officially recognized as both himself and The Reaper (his timelines spirit/personification of death), though the latter personality is only ever present when released by it's associated noble phantasm, The Reaper's Pact. When the previously mentioned noble phantasm is not active, Urick's extremely low mad enhancement skill allows him to act and think normally.
Urick aligns himself with the interests of Chaldea immediately after his summoning, and tries his best to assist his master, the staff, and his fellow heroic spirits in furthering Chaldea's goals, and he will continue to do so, until he decides his continued existence is no longer needed.
— JUJUTSU KAISEN AU | SLIPPING FARTHER
WIP but Urick is something like a Death Painting, formed from a Disaster Curse that recognizes itself as 'Death', and who still has some semblance of consciousness within Urick.
— FE3H AU | THE NIGHT'S DECOR
WIP but Urick is a traveler from the continent south of Fodlan, Dagda, who's adventures have thrust him into the fray of the events unfolding between Fodlan's various powers. Urick carries with him a dark secret, a secret that is tied to the strange powers he appears to wield, most notably, his inability to die (or so it seems).

((From @booksofthelibrary cause no shoes baby))
❝ i quite like the way mud feels underfoot ❞
"Well... Nothing bad ever came from getting your feet a little dirty, I suppose."
Tumblr media
It took only a few moments before the slight tug of a smile on his face had grown into a fully-formed grin, and Urick was unable to help but recall a number of fine things from the years before - how Nowe, having just been taken under Oror's care, had so eagerly done the same to the disdain of the Knights, how he himself had commonly played in the mud himself as a child at the orphanage - surprisingly, it was a comfort in the sense that his previous worries of an orphan wandering the streets of the City of Rust were proven null with the reminder that she was, in nearly every sense he had seen so far, just like him. A girl with no family or home from what he was aware, but still a girl. Absentmindedly, Urick flicked the last few stray drops of rain from his hair. It was only a sprinkle, now, but veil enough for the meantime. His head turned briefly upwards towards the gradually clearing sky, and then just as quickly down towards the girl he watched with some sense of curiosity that ran as deep as his nostalgia. ...He wasn't sure exactly why she seemed so intent on following him this far, Urick was. Then again, he very well might have enabled it with his own concern - he had thought that simply giving her room in an inn to stay for the night would be enough and he could have been on his way, but surprisingly, she had somehow managed to find her way back to him that very next day to thank him. It was a sweet gesture, he had recalled, though the question of how she managed to find him was a perpetual bother on his mind. Still, she had arrived that day, and then he had occasionally spotted her the next as well. He certainly didn't mind her presence, and in fact had even welcomed it on rainy days such as this, but the possibility of a spy being sent from the Knights - or even that Yaha - was one that had slowly begun to creep into his mind. That the girl merely seemed innocent enough wasn't justification on its own terms was something even Urick had struggled to accept. What could he do? He liked to think he was above harming a child, knew he was when it was merely fear and idle suspicion he was faced with, and as much as he didn't like the thought, the "Masked Man" of the City of Rust was certainly confident in his ability to take on a few Knights if they ever should be called in to take him down... ...But more than that, and he had grown unfortunately well-aware of it, his conscience simply wouldn't allow himself to keep going without some certainty that child was safe. He knew it well - he didn't want to run away and leave an innocent, this time a young girl, to the wolves again. For that, he decided to keep her company... At least, for however long she would have wanted. Still, he wanted to ask, not just in his own paranoia but genuine curiosity: Who was she? Where did she come from? Such a carefree demeanour didn't suggest a hard life without parents or family, but then again - he would know - most orphans were just that. Still, she didn't seem like anyone from anywhere he was familiar with, even during his time in the Knights. Urick wanted to ask, but knew it wouldn't be fair. Not without his own story to give in fair exchange; something he had no plans to tell at any other time. A hand ran through his hair - far more damp-feeling than he would have liked. Urick finally stood up and dusted himself off. What a boon to have found an inn willing to keep them from the rain for so little a cost that he would have just as well assumed to be welcome company. Unwelcome words and rumours on the street often stilted his luck in finding a place to stay in the few times he actually needed it (It had always been a risk compared to sleeping on the streets, he had come to find, though the existence of a young tag-along couldn't be helped), but as he had so recently learned, some of the resulting fear could actually come in useful for those too cowardly to say "No." "Hey, Daffodil," Urick called over his shoulder to get her attention. "I'll be heading inside now. Feel free to follow whenever you're ready."
Tumblr media
"Remember, watch your steps when coming in. You never know who might be watching... Oh- And one more thing: Be sure not to catch yourself a cold out in this rain here, either. It isn't easy to care for someone when you're on the streets, and I would hate to have you running ill." The door closed behind him with an eerie creak, and Urick continued on.

Listed: Glassine
Tumblr media
Glassine is the musical moniker of Baltimore-based producer Danny Greenwald. Greenwald’s most widely known release to date is probably 2015’s No Stairway, an album crafted out of field recordings taken inside the retail chain Guitar Center. His most recent release is Radial,a collaboration with Horse Lords drummer Sam Haberman, reviewed in last month’s Dust. Tim Clarke wrote that Radial “veers between malfunctioning electronica (“Up, Together, Reach”), throbbing ambient drone (“St. Pete”), clattering percussive workouts (“Brushes in Woodstock”), and what could almost pass as vaporwave (“Behind a Seatbelt”).” For Greenwald’s contribution to Listed, he chose 10 things that have inspired him other than Nirvana.
Pink Floyd — “Bike”
youtube
I used to hang out with this guy in high school who ate a lot of acid. Now he is a Hasidic Jew. We were close. He made high-quality iron-on decals with a fancy printer he had sent to a church across the street because he bought it with a stolen credit card. He made a t-shirt that said on the front, “I’ve got a mouse and it hasn’t got a house, I don’t know why I call him Gerald.” And on the back, it said, “he’s getting rather old but he’s a good mouse.” When I first heard the song “Bike” I thought it was the stupidest thing I had ever heard. It’s obviously brilliant and I was a dumb kid and Syd Barrett is my favorite guitarist. Watch him shred.
Jason Urick — Husbands
Husbands by Jason Urick
The first show I ever enjoyed that only used a laptop was Jason Urick performing in some warehouse in Baltimore. I would go see him play in various other venues with unclean floors, but I’d usually lie on my back toward the front. Everyone would stand kind of far back from Jason and his laptop in the way you’re probably picturing, but I would lie down. His seamless textural transitions are a guiding light. I listened to Husbands on headphones 1,000,000 times lying on my back. In bed, usually.
The Microphones — Mount Eerie
youtube
youtube
When I first heard this album, it blew my mind. I knew all of Phil Elverum’s previous albums, but this was on some whole other trip. It’s my favorite Microphones record. Me and my friend Brian would listen to it in its entirety in his driveway in his small Toyota Yaris in Pikesville, Maryland, at like 3am. I LOVE the line that goes, “you’re soccer balls on knees.”
“I know you’re out there, You’re lanterns on lakes / I know you’re out there, You’re soccer balls on knees... through your skirt I see... your legs gracefully / I know you’re out there, you’re swaying and pleased / I know you’re out there, you’re vultures in trees / I know you’re out there In mountainous peaks.”
Cass McCombs — “AIDS in Africa”
youtube
This song taught me an incredible lesson about the usage of metaphor and allusion in songs. Listen to the entire song — then do some research — then think about the line, “Survivor cells are chanting ‘Ali, Bomaye.’” I used to write a lot of words; however the lesson has very much crossed over into how I go about textural arrangements, field recordings, samples, and what have you.
My mom, Donna Greenwald
Outlook, “Anthem Annie”
My mom sang the National Anthem at every Major League Baseball stadium. I’m not a big fan of the song, however I was able to travel across the country on a train because she was able to wrangle corporate sponsorships in the ’90s for her “National Anthem Tour.” Only an amazing lady could pull off something like that. Self-PR in the days of phone books and small-town newspapers. Learn more about Donna Greenwald by listening to this podcast episode I made about her.
Horace Andy — Dance Hall Style
youtube
Once when I was 15 or so I walked into The Sound Garden, a record store in Baltimore, and asked what I should listen to. The person walked (almost urgently) to the reggae section in the back of the store and handed me Dance Hall Style on CD. Horace Andy looks so cool on the cover. Also, I intrinsically had a lot of trust in the person who helped me because he also looked very cool. Lyrically, the album is very heady. And his voice is so expressive. The production sounds like outer space in the mind of an extremely sensitive man.
MF DOOM and all of his monikers/collaborations
youtube
Daniel Dumile was the cleverest person to walk the earth. He was an insanely talented and underappreciated producer. He was an immense talent and the world is less enjoyable without him. He felt like the most distant stranger that I kind of knew from someplace. He helped me get through some really difficult times.
Own his own throne, the boss like King Koopa On the microphone he flossed the ring (“Super!”) Average emcees is like a TV blooper MF DOOM, he’s like D.B. Cooper
Grateful Dead — Dark Star, Rotterdam Civic Hall, Rotterdam, Netherlands 5-11-72
youtube
I grew up on the Dead. Here is a 48-minute version of one of my favorite songs. I don’t have anything more to say about it.
“Shall we go, you and I, while we can through the transitive nightfall of diamonds?”
Panda Bear — Person PItch
youtube
Also a great non-album track recorded at The Ottobar in 2007
youtube
Person Pitch was a game changer for me. I was already into atmospheric and druggy music that sounded like waterbeds, but this record utilized discernible samples, like skateboards and infants crying. Panda Bear turned all his samples into clay and treated them like weather patterns. I saw him perform at The Ottobar when the album came out. He used two SP303s (which were actually used to record the entire album) and a small mixer on stage with a very organized row of SmartMedia cards. Here is the tour poster hanging in my studio. I colored parts of it because I was working at a summer camp and had unfettered access to an array of markers. Also, I love his voice and Person Pitch is a play on Pet Sounds. That’s cool. Also, WZT Hearts opened and Jason Urick was in that band.
CELESTIAL WHITE NOISE | Sleep Better, Reduce Stress, Calm Your Mind, Improve Focus | 10 Hour Ambient
youtube
I fall asleep to this every night.
Björk — Unravel
youtube
This is one of my favorite songs. Everything about it. Heartbreaking. The End.
While you are away My heart comes undone Slowly unravels In a ball of yarn
The devil collects it With a grin Our love In a ball of yarn
He’ll never return it So, when you come back We’ll have to make new love

Son
Tumblr media
OCtober 2021 day 27 - anniversary
2020
“Breathe in. Breathe out. Breathe in. Breathe out.” Urick’s younger sister Airele urged him. She grinned “Come on, Big Bro: unwind.”
Urick threw her a murderous look. Airele may have been five years his junior, but she would soon be twenty-six. Was it too much to ask a little compassion from her? And maturity.
“You’re not helping.” Urick grumbled “And get off the tabletop. You know how Mum and Dad get.”
Airele rolled her eyes, but obliged nonetheless. “Don’t take your nerves out on me. That’s rude. Besides, you know everything will be fine.”
Everything going fine is what Urick hoped. Whether he would be that lucky, however…
Urick wished his two other younger siblings could be here, too. Odion and Amber were more like him: more level-headed, serious, responsible. Urick wished they could come comfort him, but Odion was busy with law school, and Amber with med school. Airele was only a hairdresser, so she could come bother him.
“Everything will be fine.” Airele repeated, nudging him on the shoulder “Look, Caleb’s basically like your son. You know that and he knows that. Why would he care about actually holding the legal title? If I were him, I’d be honoured.”
“Because I’m not his actual father.”
Waking up one day with the sudden realisation that Caleb was more to Urick than a foster kid to take in had been shocking —though not surprising. Urick had taken care of him as he would a son, and had watched elatedly as Caleb mended his broken self.
Caleb was not okay quite yet. But he smiled, joked, could be excited… And in a way, he had began acting like Urick’s son. At least that’s what Urick thought, as he didn’t know how Caleb had been with Gabrielle and Frank Verninac.
“Caleb still has a family.” Urick continued “I don’t want to seem like I want to keep him from his grandparents.”
Especially because they’d phoned Urick multiple times over the last three years. Always demanding Caleb be shipped off to Mirror France or Mirror Ireland so that they could honour their daughter and son after their deaths.
Urick didn’t know what Caleb’s relationship with his grandparents had been; just that he didn’t talk of them. He didn’t talk about his parents, either —but Urick knew he loved them— so he was rather disinclined to make any moves that could offend already-existing family bonds.
“Just try, then. You got the documentation, after all.” Airele pushed, pointing at the papers on Urick’s hands “And there’s no better day than today to ask the big question.”
Urick sighed. “You are right.” he eventually admitted.
Caleb had been to a couple foster homes before coming to Urick’s. They’d met at the house of one of the girls Urick was tutoring, and Urick had just had to offer help to the desolate boy with the haunted green eyes.
Today marked exactly three years since then. Urick had realised he wanted to be Caleb’s father two months ago, and had set on that day to make matters more symbolic (and also because he had needed those ninety days to get over his nerves enough to get the right documentation).
Caleb had been somewhat happier than usual at breakfast, and so Urick had thought he could, maybe, accept his proposal. Because he really wanted to be Caleb’s family. But then the hour of truth had approached, and Urick had completely freaked out. Enough to come to Airele of all people for advice.
“I will talk to Caleb.” Urick said; more as a promise to himself than to his sister “As soon as he—”
“I’m home!”
Urick looked at Airele with alarm; Airele only replied with a cheeky grin. “Caleb, hon, come here, will you?” she said.
Caleb snorted, but soon appeared at the threshold. His shirt was rumpled, and his pale neck peppered in purplish marks —Urick tried to suppress a sigh. Caleb was happier, but still…
“Closer.” Airele urged.
Once again, Caleb obliged, and Airele used the opportunity to hook an arm around his neck to ruffle his hair and profusely kiss his cheek.
“You have to let me cut your hair.” Airele said afterwards “You’ve had it like this since I met you. As a hairdresser, I will not stand by this.”
“I’m not cutting my hair.” Caleb smiled.
Airele rolled her eyes. “We’ll see. Well,” she kissed Caleb’s cheek once more, shot Urick a pointed look, and announced “I’m going now. Your girl is meeting with her boyfriend.”
Urick watched in dismay as Airele abandoned him. When he had the adoption papers right in his hand for Caleb to see.
“Where were you?” Urick asked Caleb. Even if he definitely knew, and Caleb knew he knew.
Caleb quirked an eyebrow at him. “You know where I was.”
“Not who you were with, though.”
“You don’t have to know.” Caleb shrugged. Then, his eyes slipped to Urick’s papers “What’s that?”
“Uh—” it was now or never. Urick tried not to panic too much “Sit down?”
Caleb sat next to Urick with a confused look, though his eyes shone worryingly. He definitely was not looking at Urick’s documents, almost like he was scared of them.
“As you know, it’s been three years since you… came here.” Urick pointed at his kitchen “It’s been an honour to have this be your foster home, Caleb. You have really made my life better than it was. Even if you don’t believe it.”
Caleb tensed. His face shifted to that haunted look he got only when remembering his parents. He began to breathe shakily.
“Caleb?” Urick asked, standing up from his chair and going to his boy “Talk to me.”
“I’m going, aren’t I?” Caleb let out.
Urick blinked. Then, realisation dawned: Caleb thought he was going to be sent to another foster home. “No, of course not.” Urick hastened to reassure “Caleb, these are adoption documents. I want to be your father.”
It took a moment for that new information to set in. A myriad of emotions crossed Caleb’s face: shock, confusion, wistfulness, pain, and a dozen others too complicated to name. Until finally, his eyes met Urick’s with pure disbelief. “My father?”
“Yes.” Urick showed him the documents, which were both in English and Sazla. So that both Aboveground and The Kinship would recognise they were family “But this is what I want. I understand you already have a family, and that I might be intruding.”
Caleb shook his head weakly, then extended his hand towards the documents. His eyes scanned over them; blinking rapidly to keep what Urick thought were tears at bay.
“Thank you.” he whispered.
Urick’s face fell; he cupped Caleb’s cheek. “Don’t be thankful. I love you as I would a son, therefore I want you to be my son. Don’t thank people for loving you.” a tear slipped down Caleb’s cheek. Urick simply had to draw his boy to himself “Come here.”
Caleb circled his waist, buried his face on Urick’s shoulder. And cried. There was nothing else for Urick to do, but hold him. Caleb had healed so much these years, it was sometimes hard to remember the past that scarred him so deeply. When his wounds did show, Urick always felt like his heart was being cut open.
It hurt, but these tears weren’t of nightmares nor desperation. There was relief there. And happiness.
And that’s how he knew: Caleb was his son.

Urick And His Many Mass Spells...
Urick's Many Fast Forms (Mass Haste)
7th Level Transmutation
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: 60 feet
Components: V S M (A shaving of licorice root)
Duration: Concentration, Up to 1 minute
Classes: Sorcerer, Wizard
You choose up to six willing creatures of your choice that you can see within range. These creatures must be within 30 feet of each other when you target them.
Until the spell ends, each creature's speed is doubled, it gains a +2 bonus to AC, it has advantage on Dexterity Saving Throws, and it gains an additional action on each of its turns.
That action can be used only to take the Attack (one weapon Attack only), Dash, Disengage, Hide, or Use an Object action.
When the spell ends, each creature effected by this spell can't move or take Actions until after its next turn, as a wave of lethargy sweeps over it.
My Thoughts & Notes
Mostly taken elements from other spells like Mass Polymorph and the old Mass Haste spell from 3rd Edition D&D:
From Mass Polymorph: You transform up to ten creatures of your choice that you can see within range.
From Mass Haste (3rd Edition): 6th (or 7th) Level Transmutation Spell: One creature/spell level, no two of which can be more than 30 ft. apart.
But trust both me and the Party Urick was in when I say being able to give everyone in your party an additional action is crucial when its needed.
A common strategy that I loved was Urick using his first turn to cast just regular ol' Haste on himself, then immediately using his next action on the next round to cast Mass Haste on everyone near him, and most of the time using his hasted action to dash away or hide when he needed to...
..because even at level 19, he was still pretty squishy compared to the other members of the party with their 170 to 200+ hit points...
So essentially, within the first 2 round of combat, Urick had hasted everyone in the party, and so everyone in the party had an extra attack, and could very quickly dispatch any low-to-medium tier monsters.
But that just meant more higher-level monsters can be thrown at them. MUHAHAHAHA!!!
P.S. If you wish to use this spell in your own games, but want to make this spell a little more restrictive, say that the Material Components are consumed after casting.
Urick's Many Masked Forms (Mass Invisibility)
6th Level Illusion
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: Touch
Components: V S M (An eyelash encased in gum arabic)
Duration: Concentration, Up to 1 hour
Classes: Bard, Sorcerer, Warlock, Wizard
You choose up to eight willing creatures of your choice that you can see within range. These creatures must be within 60 feet of each other when you target them.
These creatures becomes invisible until the spell ends. Anything a creature is wearing or carrying is invisible as long as it is on their person.
The effect of this invisibility is mobile with the group, and is broken when any invisible creature in the group attacks or casts a spell.
Individuals in the group cannot see each other. The spell is broken for any individual who moves more than 60 feet from the nearest member of the group.
If only two individuals are affected, the one moving away from the other one loses its invisibility. If both are moving away from each other, they both become visible when the distance between them exceeds 60 feet.
So let me tell the story: As you probably guessed, there were 7 members in the party, Urick and 6 other Party members, and the Party grew to 8 when a new player joined the group during the late game of the campaign.
Now the issue was that Urick was the only full-spellcaster in the group, as most of the others were rangers, paladins, fighters and even the odd rogue and barbarian.
So to make the whole Party invisible, for when they wanted to sneak somewhere or when they were forced to sneak to avoid a very one-sided fight that they would almost certainly lose, Urick has to use his one and only 8th level spell slot to make himself and the rest of the party invisible, and he didn't want to waste his 8th level spell slot if that meant the Party was going to get caught and they would be forced into fighting, which meant that all the invisibility stuff he just did was then wasted.
So, through some negotiation and some very lucky intelligence checks and arcana rolls, he found base components and research he needed and created 'Mass Invisibility'.
It was a 6th level spell slot (of which he had 2 at the time, so he was ok wasting 1), and it meant that he could still turn 8 creatures invisible, but with restrictions, like if 1 creature attacked, the invisibility on all the creatures would fade, or the fact that they had to stay within a certain range of each other: 60 feet, which meant they could at least run towards the bad guys before the invisibility ended for them...
At first there was no real restrictions (because Urick was a 19th level Wizard at the time and the campaign was almost over) but as weeks of gaming turned into months, Urick's Player, probably without realizing, was kinds abusing the spell a bit too often...
So the restriction of being within a certain range of each other came into play, and it meant the rogue and ranger could still stealth up front, but the rest of the party couldn't just wander off after the spell was cast.
But the spell was still kinda abused, as Urick would simply just wait for the ranger to cast pass without trace, and he would cast mass invisibility, meaning everyone near the ranger and the wizard would not only be invisible, but have an extra +10 to stealth, which meant some members of the group (cough cough Rogue) would almost constantly be rolling over a 40+ for stealth.
And so the spell was edited yet again, taking some inspiration from 3rd edition and its own Mass Invisibility and the spell Sphere of Invisibility, and using them to put further restrictions on the spell, which after that, didn't really need much editing really, though I suppose it's because the campaign ended only a few sessions after that, and it only really saw use once during the time (which didn't last long because the rogue decided to run 100 feet just to get sneak attack, causing the effect to end and leaving the rest of the party 100 feet back...)
...but I think the final version is pretty great, maybe still a bit to overpowered, maybe too restrictive, but it seems like a pretty good spell to have in your arsenal when your party insists on having the highest chance possible to stealth through an entire dungeon and get the treasure without any combat whatsoever...

So What Was Yaha's Deal? Drakengard Things You Might Not Know
GOD okay so im finally rambling about him okay so
I've been thinking about Yaha lately and it's really dawning on me how a lot of people just do NOT know about Yaha's past and it makes sense!! Literally NONE of this is available in English and it's so :( but also it makes me sad both because it's SO good and also because when people shrug him off as just "Reason Drakengard 2 sucks: it has a gay stereotype" like oh you do NOT even know omg
anyways, just so we're on the same page: this is NOT a theory discussing what happened to Yaha, just the best collage of what's ACTUALLY considered "canon" that I've picked up from different side materials and interviews (Most notably, Memory of Blood and World Inside). If I ever find anything else I'll be sure to update it :3
I WILL dive into a bit of personal interpretation/rambling over his battle lines (i have them save lmao) a bit later, maybe even in a separate post, but BOY
So TW: Mentions of noncon, dubcon and CSA up ahead
So i think the first thing that's to be established about Yaha's character is that the Empire DID wipe out most the elf population in DOD1, and while he did survive this, he was more or less still a victim in the respect that his parents WERE killed in likely less-than-painless ways as the Empire sought to use the elves both to use their blood for magic-repellent armour (While it looks like it was only introduced the the third game, it's actually been plot point for a while!) and the children to open the seal.
Given he's 25 by the events of Drakengard 2, he'd have to be around 7 at oldest before he arrived at the orphanage where met Urick. (He's not even 10 and he's already been through it...... baby...........)
Fortunately or unfortunately enough, Yaha DID manage to find a way to "survive" in this world from a very young age, and that was due to the fact that even as a child, he wasn't just commonly mistaken for a girl, but an absolutely "captivating" one. As it reads in his glossary section in Memory of Blood:
"He grew up an orphan, and even though he was a male, he boasted such beauty that he was frequently mistaken for a woman from an early age [...] For this, he uses his beauty as a systemic tool for survival. He captivates everyone, both male and female, and gains both status and protection in exchange for his body, which he used to escape life in the orphanage." (Glossary section from Memory of Blood)
It should be noted before I go on that the director, Akira Yasui, DID hint in his world inside interview that he thinks there was "something" between Yaha and Urick during their days in the orphanage, but whether that means feelings or an actual relationship isn't really clear (Though judging by his tone, it seems to lean more towards the short-lived, childlike-fling interpretation than anything imo i could just be biased though lmao):
"...As for his relationship with Urick, Yaha had liked him since they were in the orphanage together. I think there was definitely “Something” between them before Yaha left the orphanage. The powers of his pact didn’t reach Urick because he already knew how to deal with it; Urick was also once mesmerised by Yaha’s charm." (Yasui interview from World Inside)
(That last line is included for those tragedy points from when we get to the ~Split~ and BOY)
As for the orphanage, Yaha was...... "Adopted" by a well-to-do man when he was 14 years old. As for why and how he got adopted, it's unfortunately stated right at the end of his glossary entry which isn't even the worst part when you take into consideration that he's already been doing this for a while.
At any rate, Yaha DOES decide "You know what? Fuck it, we splurge" and uses all adoptee's fuckass money to buy useless shit until he turned 16 and joined the Knights in search of a better standard of living (How can he get that if he's already pretty much rich? given what he's going through at that point, you do the math)
and you know what? he deserves nice things <3
(And to note, Urick was also taken in by Oror from the orphanage as an apprentice when he was 16 as well.)
Anyways, Yaha was back to survival mode after joining the Knights, and just as he did when he was in the orphanage, used his body to climb the ranks of the KotS in search of a better standing in life. It's just repeating what his glossary says, but Yaha WAS slandered for this and got a lot of shit and rumours spoken about him behind his back for it. And the list...... wondering why gismor isn't on that list.... is there something he's not telling us???
"He joined the Knights of the Seal in search of a better standard of life; his successful climbing of its ranks being more due to his "body" than his skill in battle. The only people of notable standing who had not had a relationship with him are Oror and the Hierarch Seere (It is rumoured that he may have also had a relationship with Verdelet). Behind his back, Yaha was labelled a nymphomaniac." (Glossary section from Memory of Blood)
While working on an excavation site during the creation of the different countries of Midgard into districts (It's own can of worms), Yaha comes across a beautiful jewel unlike anything he had seen before. SO beautiful as a matter of fact, that Yaha, who by merit made beauty his everything on the basis that it was all he had (aside from Urick), took personal offense to this and pointed his sword at it. However, from the jewel came a gnome who would go on to offer Yaha a pact, offering him irresistible charm so that he could get whoever he wanted. Yaha, seeing the opportunity to move up even further in the ranks of the Knights of the Seal (both due to his charm and his status as a Pact-Partner, as Gismor was looking for Pact-Partners specifically SO they could guard the Seal Keys and manage the districts) and also claim Urick's heart by doing it, accepted the pact in an instant. But as you all know, that came at a VERY high price. Of course, Yaha lost his ability to feel pleasure, resulting in whatever "barrier" from his mental scars he had whenever he tried to do the deed being removed. The act of sex, for Yaha, was filled with not just mental pain made lighter by the aspect of pleasure, but now was just sheer psychical pain as well. What a lot of people may not know, however, is how literally Urick meant it when he said "Don't look into his eyes, he'll trick you with his lies" and followed up with "It's the power given to him by his pact-beast. Or maybe it's the price he had to pay." Urick was not joking.
For those familiar with Junji Ito's Tomie, it was essentially just that: Yaha wasn't just in possession of extreme charm, but enough to bring people to lose all rational thought and reason when they were around him. And the way the glossary talks about this...
"[...]As a result, his beauty became even more ebullient, to the point it lead to people easily losing all sense of reason. However, his body was no longer able to feel the sensation of pleasure. This was the price of his pact. Although Yaha had come to immensely regret it, it was already too late. He now lives every day being swarmed by those who have lost all reason and is forced to engage in sexual acts filled with nothing but fear and pain."
Yaha............ :( SO this is what leads to the real final kicker: Yaha has gotten his position, has more beauty than anyone could ever imagine, but what he really wants is Urick, right? Of all the pain of sex both psychically and mentally, if he could at least be with Urick, the one person he saw differently, the one person that at least wouldn't be mentally scarring to sleep with, maybe it could all make sense. So Yaha confesses to Urick. But Urick turns him down - not because of any sound argument, but because all he sees is a self-absorbed narcissist in his friend's place, manipulating others and sleeping around carelessly just to up his own ranks in society. For two seconds, it would make sense - That's technically what it is. A honest flaw in Yaha's character is that he's genuinely greedy and materialistic. He uses goddamned slave labour, for Christ's sake. On the other hand, is he really looking for a higher place in society? Or is he looking for stability? A place to get away from his past and be the one in control for once? Of course, being perfectly aligned with Urick's own version of "self-absorption" (All the Lieutenants have it!), he completely failed to realise where all that stemmed from. He saw Yaha as just being greedy and narcissistic from the lens of him being inherently bad, didn't for a second take into account Yaha's origins which led to that behaviour. His own best friend. So, long story short: Urick thinks Yaha is a bastardisation of his best friend and, following in his cowardly character, takes that as personally as you can (as you see in all his scenes and lines relating to Yaha together, im going to slap that little cunt) - despite the fact Yaha SHOULD have had the upper hand via his Tomie-like powers, as I mentioned towards the start of the post, Urick was already charmed by Yaha - he had just grown used to it because of how close they already were.
Brief Personal Analysis:
Personally reading into it, Yaha doesn't really care so much about his position as, beyond just being about as high as you can get, and it wasn't what he really wanted. The underlying source that got him that position to START with was his beauty, which Yaha cherishes like a narcissist would. He's used to people changing their tune whenever they lay eyes upon them, which Urick specifically instructs not to do towards the beginning of the battle, and is the source of such lines as "If I die, my beautiful body and the holy crystal shall perish. You would let that happen?" At the same time, a player death results in a VERY different tune from Yaha, where he dejectedly says the line "My beauty... It is my sin." Possibly hinting towards his own conflicted feelings and sorrow towards it as again, he goes from "My body is perfect, is it not?" to "My beauty is my sin" as soon as Nowe or his crew is too dead to question it. The difference is VERY jarring between the two, and I also bring into question the tone he uses to speak about his gnomes on whether he intentionally sounds exhausted of them (It would make sense, given the hinted resentment he has towards his pact-beasts for doing him dirty like that) or if he... Just sounds like that. Granted, a LOT of Yaha's lines sound similar in their sultry, somewhat sorrowful and tired tone all around. Of course, there are also his lines directed towards Urick, which should be self-explanatory given the context, but a few other notes and trivia and whatnot before i wrap up:
Just to note and say the obvious a final time since I know how this fanbase can be: Yaha IS genuinely a narcissist, that being his leading character flaw, though of course it should go without saying that while his actions as a result of that (re: slave labour) are definitely not to be swept under the rug, it's just as important to note the context that led to that and the tragedy of his character because of it. As Urick says, "He was very different then."
Yaha is confirmed bisexual! It surprised me too, but...
"Similarly, when I designed Yaha, I designed him to be a typical narcissist — a character who would probably go and describe their own self as "Beautiful". But even though his character is supposed to be one who is attracted to both men and women in the story, people who are attracted to both genders in real life are usually not of this type. Like Gismor, he also largely captures the image of "Bewitching"." (Character Artist Fujisaka commenting on Yaha's design in Memory of Blood)
Just a fun little detail: During Yaha's battle against the Rock Gnome, when it lifts the jewel above it's head in order to throw it at you, you can throw out a magic attack at just the right time and it will drop the jewel on its head for massive damage! And of course, similarly you mainly attack the Rock Gnome by using jump attacks to bring your weapon down on its head. And if you look at Yaha's portrait during his death scene...
Tumblr media
Similarly, Urick is strong against monsters, which encourages you to use him to bring the final death blow to Yaha. And given their lore together I'd be damned if this cruel little snippet wasn't done intentionally.
The drawing of Yaha's death with the gnomes is titled "End of Agony", and hopefully after reading this post, you now know why.
Tumblr media
A bit more interpretation than theory, but I have an ongoing hunch that each of the layouts and/or "gimmicks" of the Lieutenant's fortresses are based off the personality and story of the Lieutenant itself. Hanch is based around walls, closed doors and of course, water, Urick's is a twisting maze based off of sacrifice with the themes of life and death, Gismor's is based in fighting your way up a tall tower to reflect his ego and overlying reach as an antagonist, and Yaha's, primarily, is based off of illusions. The more you get past them and through the fortress, the less "ebullient" and fancy it looks until you reach its end - a single, shabby room filled with sand and dirt with nothing but a few musty crates and a bunch of jail cells meant for holding sacrificed prisoners to the Seal Keys. If that doesn't reflect Yaha's whole character, I don't know what does.
Either way, that's about all I think I have for him! Hopefully you learned something new, and if you have any questions, do let me know~

Let Me Assign You an Affection Language
Tumblr media
An Undoing Influence
Can someone tell you what to do? You have been carrying so much love within you for so long it is starting to turn into anger (why does it matter; all you see is red anyways) and you have been dragging this body through each day and every night you are split open on your bed and it is so so so lonely. If someone were to walk in while you were on your bed that way and they stitched you back in a new way, lining the seams with their love and kisses, you’d probably find this dreary world a little more bearable. You want someone to turn you over and over until you look in the mirror and see yourself looking back at yourself with a gentleness which has been lacking in you since forever.
Tagged by: @wieldsrage (Thanks for the tag!!) I Tag: @poppydedicant, @crimsontroupe (Any tho ofc I'm always happy to see Nox!!), @markershub (Again, no particular muse in mind on my end given we haven't spoken much (That said, I hope this is alright to tag you!), but the first one that speaks to you! And if none come to mind, then Jack since that was the one we last interacted with! ^^) and anyone else who hasn't already been tagged!!

"In depth" analysis (commentary) on Mcs vs Yaha dialogue (part 3, finale)
It's finally over! You can now resume scrolling on your dashboard in peace!
Tumblr media
*Bonus. Another weird quote by our friend when the Mc dies in battle. Don't fully understand it, but kinda relieved his "beauty" is his sin... Thinking about again though, he does call his ability to feel sexual pleasure his "luster" so we don't know what "beauty" could be a eufemism for...
Tumblr media
Can we all take a moment to appreciate how FRIGGIN GORGEOUS Yaha looks here???????? Like I know he's dying, and bleeding, but he just looks so cute! Actually Yaha always looks cute but this one looks extra nice
Tumblr media
This is actually a very sad moment. Poor guy's dying and here we see what Yaha thinks of himself. He recognises he has changed and that he was "damaged". I guess loosing his ability to feel **SeXuAl** **PlEaSuRe** was really dertrimental to his personality. I mean that kinda thing really changes someone, you know!
What can I say... They tried, they really did. They tried to make this sad with him calling himself broken and everything. And it would have all been fine and honestly, pretty sad if it wasn't about LOSING YOUR ABILITY TO FEEL SEXUAL PLEASURE!!!!! That was your "luster"????? Like... What?? Is there something I'm missing??
To be real, we have lots of evidence and we do hear later on from Urick that Yaha was changed a lot by this pact deal. I can't imagine exactly why and the context isn't super helpful, but the best explanation I could come up with was that his ability to seduce anyone he wanted coupled with his inability to feel pleasure when actually engaging with said people might have made him desperate or left him feeling deprived. It's kinda contradictory. You are given the ability to do something you (presumably) really enjoy, with whoever you want without any limitations but you are never allowed to enjoy it again. I guess that's what made him so weird about everything
Tumblr media
This line legit upsets me, not only because of how bad I feel for Yaha, but mostly because of Urick's reaction. You'll see it right bellow so all I'm gonna say regarding Urick is that it's usually the person who lives who says "I'll never forget you"...
Can we all just admire the amount of love and dedication Yaha has to and for Urick? If you really think about it, he's had a crush on him since they were young, he held onto that for so long, he got rejected, he sacrificed a part of himself (yeah, I've been making fun of that, but truth is that it was), he suffered because of it, he changed, according to his own words he "was damaged" by this, he has seemingly received nothing from Urick apart from semi harsh kinda aggressive comments and even after all of this, all he has to say was that he's happy he can see him again. He just holds nothing against him... Now I'm not saying he's been the best person to Urick (after all there has to be a reason he's so cold towards him), but even in his last moments he still expresses his love... Of course you could argue that this isn't realistic and that it is probably very unhealthy and obsessive, but I really do find this very heartwarming
*Rip cute baby elf*:'(
Tumblr media
This scene and Urick's reaction reminded me a lot of Rei during Yuda's death in Hokuto no Ken. I found it so funny how Yuda was there dying, confessing his love, pouring out all of his feelings and Rei just stood there kinda... Not reacting at all. The difference being, In Hokuto no Ken, Yuda had pretty much ruined Rei's life and even then, Rei seemed pretty upset by his death when he actually died. Here we have two people who were friends from childhood, who for some reason (probably less serious than murdering your parents and kidnapping your sister) fell apart. And after the heartfelt things Yaha said, THIS is what Urick has to say!!!
"Well, I know you devoted your life to me and have been in love with me since forever and I also know you sacrificed a part of yourself to be with me, but... Ugh... You shouldn't have made that pact deal, huge turn off"
What the hell, Urick???!! As much as I like you, this is an awful way to respond to your friend's death! He didn't even touch him or hug him or something! Come on! The guy's dead! You can at least show him some love now! This is such a cold response and it's even worse since it's coming from Urick who's normally so friendly... It does makes things supper complicated too. So far we've had a pretty consistent narrative of what transpired (or might have) between Yaha and Urick and here come these final scenes to just completely contradict everything! But we get the one piece of info; the fact that it was the pact deal that ruined the relationship.
Tumblr media
1000000 iq
NOWE!!!! HAVEN'T YOU BEEN PAYING ATTENTION TO ANYTHING YAHA WAS SAYING???
Tumblr media
That's were we get direct confirmation that Yaha changed, probably after the pact deal. Also we learn it was that change the ruined the relationship. But here's the weird thing, people change, what could have possibly happened that was so different to drive Urick so cold?
Tumblr media
WHAT??? WHAT? WHAT? WAT??? WHAT??
This line just shatters my kyoka suigetsu! I just don't know what to say! If we take this as true, the game has just retconed everything it's told us! Either that, or Urick has just NO IDEA what was going on all these years AND payed 0 attention to what Yaha told him during the fight! Or, Urick is lying because his ex, Yaha borderline exposed their relationship and he is just so much in denial about his sexuality that he doesn't want anyone to even think he could be gay
But srsly WHAT THE HELL??? Urick! Yaha didn't want to "make a name for himself in the knights"!!! He wanted YOU! How do you not know this! This just changes so many things! Their relationship goes from "ex friends with something extra happening in between that was maybe not entirely liked by both" to "man completely oblivious to best friend's feelings even after he literally confesses them". Now this is possible, since Yaha did ask Urick if he knew about his feelings for him. It is also possible that this entire time we had (which we did) Yaha's version of events with Urick not knowing any of this, but this begs the question, if Urick didn't knew up until now, why isn't he reacting differently to Yaha's death. If I had just learned my former best friend was in love with me, I wouldn't be sitting there looking at him die. Also if that was the case, what was it that drove them apart if not Yaha's attempt to get with Urick? Could it be that he was just too preoccupied with sex from that point on? But then why is Urick so mean and cold? This doesn't seem like it was just them drifting apart, something big happened to get Urick to this point.
More than anything, this line doesn't match up with any previous information we know...
"Um... Yeah Nowe, Yaha just... Wanted to be popular within the nights! All of that stuff you heard... That was nothing! Nothing at all! He's just... Well... What? Why I hate him? I hate him because... Uh... He's just... Too... Well that's not important, but it DEFINITELY isn't because he started fucking everybody! DEFINITELY NOT!"
Bonus: this is the single BEST piece of trivia I have ever seen about a character, EVER!
Tumblr media
So this thing is over! Are you supper happy about it? I bet you are! Anyway now I'm just gonna go ahead and link the videos I used for these screenshots and... Idk bye!

INTRO POST
Hey is that [IDRIS ELBA]? No, that’s just [URICK ALLEN ]. They’re [FORTY-SIX], and have spent [TWELVE] in Dayton. I hear that they’re kind of [CHARMING], but also [AGGRESSIVE]. Did you hear their vices are [DRINKING/SEX]? Can’t wait to see [HIM] at the next party!
Tumblr media
So, Urick was born to a pretty powerful doctor/lawyer team of parents. His older sister is a judge, his younger brother is a firefighter, and his younger sister is a cop. So his family is all about helping/being a hero.
Urick never saw his parents struggle, really, and if they were he surely could not tell when he was a child. He asked for very little and what little he desired, he was given. It was a good life. The only request his parents ever had of him was to excel in school, which turned out to be rather simple for him. It landed him a place in Columbia’s School of Law.
However, he had his vices as a teenager and young adult, drinking & sex were what he was known for in college.
He is intelligent, outspoken, assertive, charming but he can be ruthless as a lawyer, unrestrained, demanding, and his fatal flaw is his arrogant nature.
He's been charming all his life and never had really too much to worry about and when he did, he managed to shrug it off with a few choice words.
He’s been in Dayton for twelve years after leaving New York, he knows what sort of place it is and he uses it for his benefit. You get your car stolen? Get caught on a drug charge? He’ll get you off, but everyone pays a price for it.
He does have an alcoholic dependency, it’s gotten him in trouble the last few months because his sister had been watching over a trail and noticed him drinking so he’s been forced to get help (he’ll never admit it is an issue)
Definite hero complex, you stoke his ego he’ll become putty in your hands.
