Here is every spell i've ever written and not deleted because i thought it sucked. All 71 of them. I couldn't come up with higher level spells, those are hard to make.

@ghost--bot
Why? Why do you do this? What could possibly be this thrilling and relevant to both of our interests that you fill my notes with direct pings?
Tumblr media
Ah.
I see.
Yeah alright.
@evilwizard You didn't ask for this but you wrote these words and therefore must be subjected to this hell.
Power Word Glomp
7th Level Enchantment
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: 60 ft
Target: One creature you can see within range
Components: V
Duration: Instantaneous
Classes: Bard, Sorcerer, Warlock, Wizard
You speak a word of power that can compel one creature you can see within range to pounce upon another creature nearest to them. If the targeted creature has a Wisdom score lower than 15, it must use all of its movement to reach another creature nearest to it. Otherwise, it has no effect.
Upon entering melee range, the affected creature must use their action to attempt to grapple their target. Should the target evade or escape the grapple at any point, the affected creature will continue to attempt to grapple them again.
The affected creature must make a Wisdom saving throw at the end of each of its turns. On a successful save, this compulsion ends.

Subclasseptember Day 28: Ghost
Not every spell needs to rend the cosmos or dominate the battlefield. Sometimes you need something with a gentler touch.
The Dream spell has its uses, sure. But you can't spend an afternoon seeing the sights around the town with someone while they're asleep - only an illusory memory.
Yes, physical sensations means all physical sensations. An hour should be plenty, right?
Well, if it's not, there's always the 9th-level version.

Raedon's Aquatic Arcana
Once again inspired by Tears of the Kingdom, I've made a couple new spells, both of which work very nicely together thematically and mechanically!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(I know it's a bit strange to give rangers a spell attack, but thematically I feel it's important for them to have it given the inspiration)

"Arcane Spark" Cantrip Evocation (Artificer, Sorcerer, Wizard) / Optional: Cleric (Light Domain)
Today I bring you a new cantrip to brighten your way in combat, even in the darkest places, creating temporary "barriers" that can be used both defensively and offensively, possibly impeding hostile creatures to reach you unless they want to receive some damage. As you gain more levels, not only the spell increases in power, but also in length!

Need Feedback on Your Homebrew?
We’ve received some amazing submissions and interest in a section for testing out items, creatures, feats, and more!
As such, we’re adding Bubbling Brews, a section just for homebrew submissions and targeted feedback! If interested, send us the content you want feedback on, a short author’s note that includes what kind of critique you’re looking for (more testing, worried about a particular ability, adjusting level, etc.), and your contact/socials if you wish to share!
These submissions will fall under the same conditions as any other: you own your content and just give us the right to publish it in our zine.
As a general zine update, we’ll be posting more about it in August as that’s when our editor will (hopefully) be done moving. We’re also interested in more art to feature throughout the zine! Most of the visuals are currently stock art, but we’d love to feature more from the community!

All the corgis!!!!!!!!!!!!! ALL OF THEM! I’d also make the corgis immune to all forms of damage. Just to keep the murderhobos from fireballing the area.

So as something of a preview for the Swordmage (the first draft of which is nearly complete), I’m previewing a few of the unique spells it gains access to: Spellstrike Spells.
These are designed in a similar vein to the various Smite spells. Each of them is based on the same amount of damage as a smite, but has a casting time of 1 action. Reason being that they're designed to he use alongside Spellstrike as a feature (which integrates a weapon attack into the casting of the spell).
Tumblr media
Thundering Spellstrike is pretty simple, designed to push an opponent back. I wondered about adding more distance or a prone effect, might add that in the final version.
Tumblr media
Shocking Spellstrike is another simple but very strong one, doing lightning damage and a stun.
Tumblr media
A personal favourite, what if we made the Rust Monster's abilities into a spell? Being able to degrade armour and weapons is a real neat feature and I'm surprised its not seen more in official stuff.
Tumblr media
So far the only Ranged Spellstrike spell, very much designed after the Warp-Strike in FF15. Hit someone, teleport to them, pretty straightforward

Antispell Zone
7th-level Abjuration Casting Time: 1 hour Range: 30 feet Components: V, S, M (silver dust worth at least 100 gp, which the spell consumes) Duration: 1 week
A 20-foot-radius, 15-foot-high, cylinder of floating blue sparkles fills a point within range. The flow of magic is cut off from the area.
Spells are prevented from being cast or resolving from within the area.
Magic items still retain their abilities unless it casts spells such as the Wand of Magic Missile, in which case it cannot cast spells.
All concentration spells are dispelled upon entering the field.
Summoned creatures cannot enter the area and magical creatures cannot use their innate abilities within the area. For example, the Displacer Beast will lose their Displacement ability, but not their Avoidance ability.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 8th level, the duration increases to 1 year. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 9th level, the effect becomes permanent.
Classes: Cleric, Wizard

5e Homebrew Spell: Cosmic Halo
Brought to you by the weather being so gorgeous today, a white-gold sun in a silver haze while silver-grey cumulous clouds drifted above the mountains on the horizon, and I actually saw a sun halo. It was so beautiful, this pearlescent ring around the sun through the silver.
So. A very pretty damage spell where you summon your own personal halo of ice and light. Damage wise, I’m basing this largely on Flame Strike, and it’s also 5th level because I primarily want this to be a cleric/paladin spell. Because halo. But I’ll also give it to druids, because natural phenomenon, sorcerers, because it feels like something a sorcerer would have, and also warlocks, because I feel like Archfey, Celestial and Great Old One patrons would definitely vibe with it, so why not give it to the class as a whole?
I put in an option to form the halo around someone other than yourself, which does not seem to be a thing 5e really does? But it’s a self-originating AOE, and I feel like that’s a blessing you might want the option to bestow on someone else who’s getting swarmed in melee?
COSMIC HALO
5th level evocation
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: Self (30ft sphere)/60ft
Components: V, S, M (a glass bead)
Duration: Instantaneous
A halo of radiant ice forms around your head, and flashes outwards, rotating as it flies, to cover a 30ft radius sphere. Each creature of your choice within the radius of the halo must make a Dexterity saving throw, taking 4d6 radiant damage and 4d6 cold damage on a failed save, and half as much damage on a successful save.
Alternately, you can create the halo around the head of a willing creature that you can see within 60ft of you.
At higher levels: When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 6th level or higher, the radiant damage or the cold damage (your choice) increases by 1d6 for each slot level above 5th.
Classes: Clerics, Druids, Paladins, Sorcerers, Warlocks

rare rhia is productive and makes a spell moment
Songbird's Serenade
5th level enchantment (bard)
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: Self (60ft radius)
Components: V, S, M (the feather of a bird-of-paradise, encrusted in gemstones worth at least 500gp)
Duration: Concentration, up to 1 minute
You channel your voice and sing a harmonious tune, infusing others around you to succeed at any battle. While concentrating on this spell, you emit a 60ft radius sphere of inspiring energy, granting the following benefits to creatures of your choice in the area (you cannot choose yourself to gain these benefits):
• +2 to attack rolls and saving throws
• A bonus to damage rolls equal to your Charisma modifier
• A 10ft increase to movement speed
Additionally, when a creature affected by these benefits deals damage, it may use its reaction to immediately make an additional weapon or cantrip attack using your Spell Attack Modifier and dealing thunder damage instead of the attack's normal damage.
While concentrating on this spell, you have resistance to all damage and advantage on all saving throws, are immune to effects that would incapacitate you or control your actions, and you cannot move and must spend your action each turn to maintain concentration.

Subclasseptember Day 19: Undead
"Be still, thy heart."
A simple spell, a simple pun. Sometimes that's all you need to make an idea work.
Kind of an in-between of Entangle and Flaming Sphere, trading area denial for better single-target cc. Hold Person exists at the same level, but this spell is a bit more general, being able to work on non-humanoids. Plus, no V components means you could give someone the mother of all heart attacks without so much as a whisper to give you away.

"Fossilize" Cantrip Transmutation (Druid, Cleric, Ranger, Sorcerer)
I'm always amazed by the lack of "martial" cantrips that exist in 5e, and as gish/spellblade characters is probably one of my favorite archetypes, it has been my pursuit to make some cool cantrips more focused on those martial combatants. Fossilize is a spell that allows you to imbue a melee weapon in rough, rocky formations, and depending on its shape and damage associated with that shape, other effects occur on a hit.
