DPxDC Idea

Danny working at Wayne Enterprises as some sort of engineer, uses the in-house app for all his blueprints and stuff

He starts getting notes from a coworker in-app, and assumes its this annoying older guy in his department who constantly undermines him because of his age, despite his education and past achievements (i feel like in this AU the Fentons react well to the reveal and they work together on a number of non-lethal ecto inventions that have Danny's name attached to them)

Except one day his coworker mentions never using the app, and Danny suddenly realizes there's only one other TD he could've been arguing with in the notes of the app

why aren't there more mysteries that take place in nursing homes & retirement communities. i want to watch a group of deranged retirees-cum-amateur-detectives combine their powers of:

decades of life experience

boredom-fueled busybody shamelessness

access to the most gossipy next-door-neighbors in existence

"I am too old to be arrested and/or give a shit" attitude

and solve crimes. this should be an enormous subgenre.

#their sidekick/Watson/pet hacker is a 15 year old grandkid who hangs out with gram gram on the weekends #her only power is that she has above average search engine skills and flexible knees #which is completely sufficient to round out the group's skill set #they involve her in heist style operations #on the rare occasion she gets caught housebreaking she explains her grandma locked herself out of the condo and asked for help getting in #then this sweet slightly addled old lady shows up and explains she got the address mixed up #it's so confusing when you're old & all the houses look alike and oh she's so sorry to have caused so much trouble #and meanwhile the teenager is rolling her eyes bc she's aware gram gram was a career criminal & con artist for 50 years #anyway gimme a 80-year-old con artist turned amateur sleuth who loves getting older because people are less suspicious of little old ladies #this all takes place in florida naturally

Occasionally I think we suffer too much from wanting to inject a normal perspective into star wars. Obviously the clones should not have an everyman normal perspective on the jedi, they are some of the least normal people alive. Obviously the jedi are not a normal perspective either, they grew up in a monastery and have cosmic forces pouring through their heads. The natborn officers are all handpicked fascists so they aren't normal either. Not one single being on any of those warships is ever normal.

Padme was a politician at age 10. Naboo is weird. They're all weird. And those mandalorians. Listen, if a traditional mandalorian found themself on melida-daan as per fanfic tradition, they wouldn't be normal about it. They'd see a bunch elementary kids doing warfare and think that's the coolest shit. They'd teach them how to fire a rocket launcher with their tiny bony arms and when a bunch of them die on the raid they coached them on they'd tell the other seven year olds it 'twas an honorable death.

#natborns on low-level admin or engineering or something might be slightly normal #this isn't really the place for it but my headcanon tends to be that the GAR was slowly building up natborn ranks even before order 66 #but palpatine was careful to keep that separate from the jedi #who needed to be surrounded by clone troops at all times.
