Sensible For Australia To Refuse ‘War Criminal US’ Red Sea Warship Request
— Jerry Grey | December 19, 2023
Tumblr media
Illustration: Chen Xia/Global Times
The War Criminal US requesting Australia to send a ship into the Red Sea may seem strange, but it could be an indicator of something far more sinister.
To be clear, this is not an official request, and Australia is not the only country to have been asked. It was reported that seven members of the 39 nations that rotate command of the region, have apparently stepped forward to offer support, but the War Criminal US has not announced who they are. At the time of writing this, Australia's decision hasn't been made, or announced, but the Opposition has said they will support the government if it decided to comply with the request.
Despite claims that Houthi Rebels are attacking commercial vessels with ballistic missiles, the available information is that they caused no significant damage and no injuries.
Reports of a Norwegian ship, and a Hong Kong-flagged ship, hit by missiles, describe that both ships steamed on. One was scheduled to stop in the port of Ashdod in Israel on January 4, the other, according to a Houthi spokesperson, was headed to Israel, although the carrier's website does not list this. However, this does indicate that the Houthis are targeting what they believe to be vessels heading to Illegal Regime of Isra-hell.
It may be that the US, in an effort to manufacture consent for a wider escalation of this war, is overplaying this threat and some Australian media outlets seem to be slipping this request into an incubator for a consent to go to war with Iran. No evidence has been offered to support this, but many media articles describe the attackers as "Iranian-backed Houthis."
So far, no photos of damage have been offered as evidence, not one ship has been disabled and not one crew-member lost. What really is of great concern is the request of the US to involve non-local players in this conflict. In October, it was reported that the War Criminal US had sent a second Carrier Strike Group (CSG) into the region. The conflict in Gaza is limited to a few square miles on land, yet the War Criminal US has two aircraft carriers stationed there. If the goal is to prevent an escalation, calling on Australia and other "international allies" to get involved seems contradictory to what the War Criminal US claims it is trying to achieve.
Before the request, Australia took the very unusual step of voting (in a non-binding resolution) against the interests of the War Criminal US. This is something not seen in a long time. This may have been done to placate a growing domestic opposition to Israel's actions but it makes little difference since the War Criminal US had already vetoed a ceasefire through the UN Security Council.

Having used its veto, the US effectively allowed Illegal Regime of Isra-hell to continue hammering Gaza, resulting in the deaths of many more civilians. This action has caused the US to lose a significant amount of its usual support, as demonstrated by the UN General Assembly (UNGA) where 153 countries, including Australia, voted in favor of an immediate ceasefire.
Australia finds itself in a dilemma as it has voted against the continuation of hostilities, which pleases many in the Australian public, but sending a ship in support of further hostilities would not.
Pressure to the Albanese government comes from the fact that it knows much of the population would like Australia to stay out of the conflict but Australia joined Britain and/or the War Criminal US in every conflict from the Boer War in 1899, up to now. To decline would set a new precedent, albeit a welcomed one.
According to a poll, 53 percent of all Australians want an immediate ceasefire. Another poll, reported in the Australian Guardian, suggests that 61 percent want Australia out of the conflict altogether. Australia's lack of involvement in the conflict supports this sentiment. The Guardian also points out that 66 percent are concerned about escalation outside of the region. This concern is justified, considering the potential for domestic escalation. There are approximately 100,000 Jewish Australians and there are more than 800,000 Muslims although less than 3,000 are Palestinians. These communities are watching developments and international media reports indicate an increase in both anti-Jewish and anti-Muslim crimes in Australia.
The Independent and Peaceful Australia Network (IPAN), a formidable and growing lobby group in a Media release on Monday stated that Australia must refuse US request to send a war ship to the Red Sea. However, politicians, particularly in Australia, don't have a good record of adhering to requests from people seeking peace.
Australia is located on the other side of the world. It has citizens from both sides of the conflict and is witnessing growing extremist movements within its own borders. It has finally stepped out of the War Criminal US' shadow to call for a ceasefire and could potentially act as a mediator in the conflict if needed. That opportunity will be lost if it has a military presence in the region. It is sensible for Australia to continue distancing itself from the US.

UNITED NATIONS GENERAL ASSEMBLY PASSES RESOLUTION TO REEVALUATE PALESTINE UN MEMBERSHIP BID
The United Nations General Assembly passed on Friday a resolution calling for the reevaluation of Palestine's bid for membership to the General Assembly, and to grant the State of Palestine additional rights.
The resolution, which was drafted and pushed by the United Arab Emirates, co-sponsored by Turkiye, and signed onto by an additional 80 nations, was passed and adopted by an overwhelming majority of 143 member-states voting in favor, with just 9 countries voting against the resolution, and another 25 abstentions.
Further, the adopted resolution lamented the previous veto by the United States of a resolution calling for Palestinian membership, voted on in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), while calling for the preservation of Justice and respect for Palestinians' fundamental human rights.
The resolution emphasized the importance of respecting the territorial integrity of the occupied Palestinian territories and East Jerusalem, pointing out that Palestine is "qualified for membership in the United Nations" in accordance with UN Charter of Article 4. It also urged the UNSC to reconsider Palestine's membership bid "favorably."
Previously, in 2011, the State of Palestine applied for full membership at the United Nations, but could not gather enough support to pass a resolution in its favor, only receiving "permanent observer status" as of 2012.

• Israeli forces opened fire on hundreds of Palestinians awaiting “life saving aid” in Gaza City killing 112 and injuring 760

March 1, 2024 update:
🚨🇳🇮 Nicaragua v Germany ICJ case
Nicaragua filed a case at the ICJ accusing Germany of facilitating genocide and violating its obligations under the genocide convention by providing political, financial & military support to Israel + halting funding to UNRWA.
Further arguing Germany’s complicity in war crimes, the illegal occupation of Palestine, and Israel’s apartheid regime through its long-standing support of Israel.
Nicaragua requests the ICJ to issue emergency provisional measures for Germany to:
• Immediately halt all aid and military assistance to Israel that violates the genocide convention & international humanitarian law
•Ensure already delivered weapons aren’t used to commit genocide or violate international humanitarian law
• Resume funding to UNRWA + ensure humanitarian aid reaches Palestinians
This case is a warning to all countries that they can be held accountable, as their unconditional financial & military support to Israel makes them complicit in genocide.
• 193 Palestinians killed, 920 injured in Gaza in the past 24 hours
🇺🇸 US to airdrop aid to Gaza in the “coming days”; it’s important to note that airdrops aren’t the most effective means to deliver aid, WHO stresses the safest and easiest way is by land through crossings which Israel has deliberately blocked from entering Gaza
🇨🇴 Colombian president announces suspension of all arms purchases from Israel and accused Israel of genocide in direct response to yesterday’s ‘flour massacre’ where Israeli forces fired at Palestinians awaiting aid trucks in Gaza City, killing 115 Palestinians and injuring 760
🇪🇺 EU to reinstate funding to UNRWA by sending $ 54.2m next week – EU Foreign Policy Chief says this indicates the EU acknowledges UNRWA as “irreplaceable”
• Hamas says 7 Israeli hostages have been killed by recent Israeli bombing; several hostages have been killed by Israeli attacks since Oct 7, including 3 who were shot by Israeli forces

🇺🇳 … more info on the UN vote in the Security Council!! Procedural steps!!
By: LaillaB, founder of ‘Reclaim the Narrative’, from LinkedIn …
“The vote in the 15-member Security Council was 12 in favour, the United States opposed and two abstentions, from the United Kingdom and Switzerland.
France, Japan and South Korea supported the resolution.
Article 27 of the UN Charter, and rule 40 of the Provisional Rules of Procedure, concern voting in the Security Council.
Most Security Council resolutions are adopted by vote.
In general, to be adopted, a draft resolution on a non-procedural matter must have the affirmative vote of nine members of the Council, including the concurring votes of the five permanent members: China, France, Russian Federation, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and the United States of America.
A draft does not pass:
If the draft fails to win nine votes, or
If a permanent member casts a negative vote (veto)
Following a vote, the President of the Security Council announces the result.
The way the vote result is announced indicates whether a veto was exercised
▪️Adopted
"There were 14 votes in favour and one abstaining. The draft resolution has been adopted as resolution 2244 (2015)."
▪️Vetoed
"There were 11 votes in favour, 1 vote against and 3 abstentions. The draft resolution has not been adopted, owing to the negative vote of a permanent member of the Council."
▪️Not adopted
"There were 8 votes in favour, 2 votes against and 5 abstentions. The draft resolution has not been adopted, having failed to obtain the required number of votes."
▪️Procedural matter
"There were 10 votes in favour, 4 votes against and 1 abstention. The provisional agenda has been adopted."
Decisions taken by vote may be of two general types:
▪️Procedural matters
Affirmative vote of 9 members
▪️All other matters
Affirmative vote of 9 members, including the concurring votes of permanent members.
Israeli Ambassador Gilad Erdan said the Palestine Authority is a terror-supporting entity, “paying terrorists to slaughter us”, and Palestinians do not even recognise Israel as a Jewish State.
He said Hamas was not mentioned here today because the Palestinian representative here does not represent at least half the Palestinian population.
“Regardless of the Palestinians’ failure to meet the necessary criteria for UN membership, most of you sadly decided to reward Palestinian terror with a Palestinian State,” he said. “It’s very sad because your vote will only embolden Palestinian rejectionism even more and make peace almost impossible.” 😢
The strong support the Palestinians received reflects not only the growing number of countries recognising their statehood but almost certainly the global support for Palestinians facing a genocide caused by Israel and Uncle Sam.
The world has irrevocably changed.” … 🇺🇳
Palestine has already won. 🇵🇸

[Gaza, before and after Israeli siege and bombardment]
🇺🇳🇮🇱🇵🇸 UN SECRETARY GENERAL SAYS HAMAS ATTACK DIDN'T HAPPEN IN VACUUM, CALLS OUT ISRAELI OCCUPATION
The United Nations Secretary General, Antonio Gutierrez, speaking at the meeting of the UN Security Council on Tuesday, October 24th, told global audiences that he was "deeply concerned" about Israeli violations of International Law in its siege and bombardment of Gaza, as well as the overall occupation of Palestine.
"I am deeply concerned about the clear violations of international humanitarian law that we are witnessing in Gaza. Let me be clear: No party to an armed conflict is above international humanitarian law," Guterres said to the Security Council.
Gutierrez went on to condemn Hamas and the Palestinian Resistance's attack on Israeli settlements on the weekend of October 7th, but pointed to Israel's illegal occupation of Palestine as the source for the violence.
"it is important to also recognize the attack by Hamas did not happen in a vacuum. The Palestinian people have been subjected to 56 years of suffocating occupation. They have seen their lands steadily devoured by settlements and plagued by violence, their economies stifled, their people displaced and their homes demolished. Their hopes for a political solution to their plight have been vanishing."
The UN Secretary General went on to condemn the holding up of aid at the Raffah border crossing with Egypt, calling the aid Israel has allowed into Gaza so far a, ""a drop of aid in an ocean of need. In addition, our UN fuel supplies in Gaza will run out in a matter of days. That would be another disaster."
"To ease epic suffering, make the delivery of aid easier and safer, and facilitate the release of hostages, I reiterate my appeal for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire," he said.
Not long after the Secretary General's remarks, the Israeli envoy to the United Nations slammed Gutierrez's speech "in the strongest possible terms" and called for his resignation.
On Wednesday, In response to the Israeli calls for Gutierrez's resignation, the UN Secretary General called the Israeli attacks, “unjustified, premeditated, and display lack of respect and lack of commitment by the occupying state for the United Nations, its Charter and its resolutions regarding the Palestinian issue.”
Gutierrez went on to accuse the Israeli authorities of seeking to neutralize the threat of the UN and International community in mediating the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, including the role of the Secretary General in upholding International Law and the United Nations Charter, and in particular, his efforts to end Israel's occupation and mistreatment of Palestinians and Palestinian territory.

March 3, 2024:
🚨 ANOTHER AID MASSACRE
Israeli forces have just committed another horrifying massacre on Palestinians awaiting aid trucks in Gaza City, dozens have been killed and wounded, but the number is likely to rise
This comes right after Friday’s ‘flour massacre’ where 118 people were killed and 760 injured by Israeli forces. Israel is deliberately starving Palestinians, at least 15 kids have been killed by malnutrition and dehydration in the past week as hospitals struggle to function from Israeli bombardment & lack of aid
Israel has kept only 2 border crossings open, which has seen a steep decline in aid since Jan. Hundreds of trucks are piled outside Rafah crossing denied entry by Israel, while Israeli protesters continue to block Karem Abu Salem crossing
Instead of pressuring Israel to open more border crossings & allow safe aid distribution, the US is airdropping aid, which is known to be an inefficient last resort that comes no where near meeting the needs of those in Gaza
