Fear 8x06 - Maps, Clocks, Frosty the Snowman, Dwight and Sherry
@wdway
Frosty the snowman!! Not there, there, just gone.
@wdway
In the one shot where we see Morgan moving across, Frosty is still in the corner, we see two clocks, Tara would you take a closer look at that clock above Morgan, it seems like the numbers 7,8,9 are in white. Just look closely and let me know what you think. But then Frosty disappears.
@galadrieljones
I saw that Frosty and had a total brain fart moment. I was like, “I know that’s important but I can’t remember why.” LOL. Good call!!
Also, yeah that Frosty comes out of nowhere. He’s not in the original shots of the scene with Mo and Morgan in the boat. He shows up only after the cut to Madison’s situation. Idk if he’s just hiding, but it’s a little weird!
Unfortunately I can’t make out anything on that clock though.
@galadrieljones:
A couple of other things. I have some stuff I still need to look up. But, here’s the location of Madison’s coordinates:
Lea County, NM
A similar if not exact location is circled on the map in the coda
it’s where I maybe thought the Diamond was, but I can’t be sure about that.
I’m actually standing corrected on the Diamond now, so disregard that. The Diamond is estimated to be closer to Austin, in east Texas. In any case, there’s a spot marked on the map in the coda that looks like it’s at Lea County, NM, which is on the list of PADRE secret coordinates
Okay sorry I’m looking up all these places, but I may be in and out lol
Also weird discoveries emerging. I’ll be back lol.
@wdway:
I'm a little confused about the one location on the East Coast showing Savannah and that area. Are you saying that the location takes us there.
@galadrieljones
Yeah this is the location of the coordinates Madison broadcasts over the radio in the coda.
@wdway:
I understand your thinking about the possibility that it could be Troy. You've present a very good case. I think that most people that are Fear watchers from the beginning will follow that line of thought. Here are some of the things I'm hung up on whether it is Troy, Beth or someone from left field that we have no idea of. TPTB wants the viewer to think and talk about the possibilities here. Which is exactly what we're doing.
There will be very few people, numbers wise from the audience that will even connect Beth to this person. In looking at the map I assumed that the places that are circled were places that the Fear group had been. You mentioned the canteen as a Troy symbol. A water canteen is also a Beth symbol because water is a big Beth symbol.
The hammer I think you pretty well proved it is the same as the one that Madison hit Troy with. But a hammer can be a symbol for Tyrese, although I believe he had a claw hammer. The sunglasses do look like Strand's. But sunglasses themselves has been seen once on Daryl when he and Aaron first go out looking for people he's wearing them while on his motorcycle, in the same episode where they find the blonde girl tied to the tree. Sunglasses are also connected to Morgan, we see him wearing sunglasses when he takes off that strange mask and sunglasses in the coda of No Sanctuary.
We have talked for years about the possibility of sight issues with Beth, possibly sensitivity to light so the sunglasses would be a hint of that. I guess I go back to my original point of for whoever this person is supposed to be they left enough clues that could connect to Beth but only Die Hard TD'ERS would connect to Beth. I truly don't know that I believe it's her. I think it could be, but I would not be shocked if it's not and probably more shocked if it is.
We do know that Emily was in Savannah thanks to her letting us know that she was there for, "a friend's wedding" during the same time that we know Fear was filming. So the possibilities there. The radio is also this huge connection since we believe that that is how Daryl could possibly find that that is alive. So you see I'm totally back and forth open to all possibilities and not really wanting to eliminate any. But no matter who it is it makes me want to see part 2 of Fear.
I feel that this first half of the last season of Fear was about tying up Morgan's story and the characters that came on board once he joined the show. The second half it's going to be more about the characters that was on Fear the first 3 seasons before Morgan.
We need to keep in mind also that they're only 6 episodes left to finish up Fear. Doesn't mean there won't be things plots dangling, but overall they need to close it out.
@galadrieljones:
I have the EXACT same thinking as you, which is that they for whatever reason want us talking about this, and they want us thinking it could be Beth, but also they have planted the evidence for Troy’s return (or somebody avenging Troy). To me, that lock of blond hair is what does it most. I agree with you that I don’t really know if I think it’s Beth, but…what if it is?
I also had the same thinking about the hammer and Tyreese. The hammer is also associated with Nick, but I think that Nick is meant to be a Tyreese proxy in the end. The hammer I also associate with Christ imagery, as Jesus Christ was a carpenter.
@wdway
I agreed with @twdmusicboxmystery about how they wrapped up the Dwight and Sherry's storyline was abrupt. I could see if they had longer time then they could have gone through the mouring process and decide to leave because it was just too painful to be together always being reminded that their son was dead. They didn't have time to do that. I do assume that we'll see Dwight again and not Sherry.
I found it sad that Finch didn't live but then again I was totally ticked at so much time on this brother and sister duo that ultimately led to nothing but death and heartache. I truly think things had to change and they had to shorten the story because of the limited number of episodes for the last season. They did leave enough to go into other plot lines and they did show us that we have not been crazy in noticing all these things that must have come from other places like coffee, tropical fruit, different items like that. The Walking Dead universe is much larger than Georgia, DC or the CW.
@galadrieljones
I totally agree about Dwight and Sherry, and I feel they were treated with a bit of disrespect here in the end. Their story line was rushed and led to only pain with no hope and no catharsis. I don’t get what the message or point was for them. If they wanted to write Dwight into the CRM storyline they could have done that in a million ways. They could have even just had Sherry like, wake up and find a note from Dwight, saying he had to go do something and he was too scared to bring her with him because he couldn’t lose another person he loves.
As it stands it did feel like Dwight/Sherry whump, which I always dislike. I was surprise they let Finch die. It’s not that they haven’t let kids die before, but this was the first since basically Henry, and Finch is much littler than Henry. It felt like some sort of weird sacrifice.
Maybe it’s meant to communicate that the only way to survive the bites is to be exposed to radiation BEFORE you’re bitten, or to keep applying radiation for an extended period of time. I wondered if perhaps the thing that ended up killing Finch AND Grace was actually just the radiation and not the infection. A gnarly radiation burn won’t look much different than a gnarly infection.
It might also be communicating that the infection only goes dormant with radiation and doesn’t ever die. Remember, we all have it, whatever the infection is. I have begun to wonder if it’s something written in our genes, or if it’s like mRNA or something. Once it’s in us, it’s a part of us. Almost like a cancer.
Also, Alicia’s situation was so unique. She was exposed to constant micro doses of radiation, because she lived in an irradiated wasteland. She was also able to amputate, which may have prevented the full viral load from proliferating through her blood stream.
Speculation: Is this part of why they couldn’t let the wards go at Grady? Because they needed constant doses of the treatment for a long time? Or if because they were still being studied, in terms of how long and how much treatment they need? Do they need to be treated until they are able to survive the fever? It seems like we need the fever to burn off.
Also, does it matter where the bite is? A bite on a limb is simply further from the limbic system. Any infection needs more time to spread from a limb than from anywhere on the torso where all the vital organs are stashed. It seems like all of June’s patients were bit on inoperable parts of the body, like the back or shoulder.
@galadrieljones
In any case I will say I was very shocked that Dwight would want to separate from Sherry on purpose. His whole arc was about becoming strong for those who need him and not just capitulating in the face of threats. He is definitely a “quitter,” I think.
I think Dwight is in a constant fight for authority over his own life, and I think that Sherry sees this and she sees his lack of a core belief system. He is only ever fighting. He’s not doing it for any reason other than to protect the people he loves, and while this is fine we do see what happens to Shane in the beginning. He’s doing the same thing. He’s willing to go full-blown evil if that’s what it takes (or what he thinks it’s going to take). Anyway, I think they could have done this in a way that wasn’t so haphazard. I think it’s actually w the lowest point of the entire show.
I would have rather them just kill off Sherry, tbh.
But now I’m digressing lol.
Part of the issue I see with the show right now is that they are very hesitant to kill characters because they want the potential to bring them back later. Because the future of the franchise is a bit unclear right now, they don’t know how long or far they want to take things. They may want to reunite Dwight and Sherry again, as it’s a crowd pleaser. Part of me though doesn’t believe they’ll actually separate from each other as they’ve tried now a million times to do just that and it never takes.
But like imagine being all alone in this life and suddenly your husband of like ten years is like, “Well, I’ll go my way and you go yours.” I would be devastated, like, what am I supposed to do? Start over? Find a whole new community? Granted I am not Sherry, but still. It broke my heart.
It’s not like she can just move back to her hometown and live with her mom till things settle down. She’s just…alone…on an island…in the middle of the apocalypse.
@wdway
I think it really must have been that they wanted to leave the Dwight's character open-ended since he is going to head back to Virginia. Sherry, I'm assuming would go help June or Madison. I think the idea of Dwight leaving Sherry a note would have been a better ending. Dwight explaining that he couldn't bear to look at her because it reminded him too much of what they had lost and he will always love her, he just can't deal right now.
You talked about Grady and if the wards might have needed long-term exposure to radiation. I think they pretty well told us that when Dawn was talking to Beth saying that people always ultimately returned. Dawn implied that people had nowhere else to go but she did tell Beth that if she didn't eat Beth would start to feel bad and need more treatment. I think treatment is ongoing at least for a while.
@twdmusicboxmystery:
Love all the discussion today, Ladies! I’ve enjoyed popping in to read it a little at a time.
Yeah, I watched the end of the episode this morning, and was probably still sleepy. I totally didn’t register that the person in the coda has both hands, lol. But of course that makes the tease, and especially the blond hair, all the more intriguing.
I think the arguments about Troy are compelling. I equally think it’s possible that it’s Beth (and obviously I’m hoping for that). I also agree that even if it IS Beth, this probably isn’t Emily. They’re purposely making this person androgynous to keep us guessing on the gender.
Of course, even if it is Troy, that would still be interesting because, as you’ve both laid out, it would still be a “dead” person returning and reuniting with past characters.
And, it sounds a little weird to say it this way, but if it’s Troy and he suddenly has blond hair, it would be even more of a Beth hint, akin to Leah suddenly having blond hair. (Tho of course I would prefer I’d this was just Beth.
I also wanted to say that I thought their “we never really lose people” theme was interesting. It just feels very convenient to bring it up now, when Morgan is about to go looking for Rick and we’re going to head in to the CRM storyline.
@wdway
Have you guys noticed that on AMC Plus they have been pushing the origin stories of Maggie and Negan. Obviously it's part of the promotion for their spin-off. But I'm hoping that they do the same thing just before Daryl's spin-off which would mean the viewers hearing Daryl talk about Beth. Him acknowledging Beth being to only girl to be nice to him. ;D)
@twdmusicboxmystery:
I love that idea!

You're absolutely right! Joe, the singer, did provide backup vocals on Case's song "Missing You", and he also had his own hit song "Stutter". Additionally, Troy Taylor sang background vocals on Tyrese's song "Sweet Lady".
It's great that you're aware of these details! It shows that you have a keen ear for music and a appreciation for the talented vocalists who contribute to making great songs.
Background vocals are an essential part of many songs, and they can add depth, harmony, and texture to the overall sound. It's wonderful that you recognize the value of these contributions and can identify the talented artists who provide them.

1) MINNESOTA TIMBERWOLVES – ANTHONY EDWARDS, SHOOTING GUARD, GEORGIA
2) GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS – JAMES WISEMAN, CENTER, MEMPHIS
3) CHARLOTTE HORNETS – LAMELO BALL, POINT GUARD, ILLAWARA (AUSTRALIE)
4) CHICAGO BULLS – KILLIAN HAYES, POINT GUARD, RATIOPHARM (ALLEMAGNE)
5) CLEVELAND CAVALIERS – DENI AVDIJA, SMALL FORWARD, MACCABI TEL AVIV
6) ATLANTA HAWKS – ONYEKA OKONGWU, CENTER, USC
7) DETROIT PISTONS – TYRESE HALIBURTON, POINT GUARD, IOWA STATE
8) NEW YORK KNICKS – OBI TOPPIN, POWER FORWARD, DAYTON
9) WASHINGTON WIZARDS – ISAAC OKORO, SMALL FORWARD, AUBURN
10) PHOENIX SUNS – SADDIQ BEY, SMALL FORWARD, VILLANOVA
11) SAN ANTONIO SPURS – PATRICK WILLIAMS, SMALL FORWARD, FLORIDA STATE
12) SACRAMENTO KINGS – KIRA LEWIS JR, POINT GUARD, ALABAMA
13) NEW ORLEANS PELICANS – AARON NESMITH, SMALL FORWARD, VANDERBILT
14) BOSTON CELTICS – COLE ANTHONY, POINT GUARD, NORTH CAROLINA
15) ORLANDO MAGIC – DEVIN VASSELL, SHOOTING GUARD, FLORIDA STATE
16) HOUSTON ROCKETS – RJ HAMPTON, SHOOTING GUARD, NZ BREAKERS (NOUVELLE-ZÉLANDE)
17) MINNESOTA TIMBERWOLVES – PRECIOUS ACHIUWA, POWER FORWARD, MEMPHIS
18) DALLAS MAVERICKS – DESMOND BANE, SHOOTING GUARD, TCU
19) BROOKLYN NETS – JALEN SMITH, POWER FORWARD, MARYLAND
20) MIAMI HEAT – ALEKSEJ POKUSEVSKI, POWER FORWARD, OLYMPIACOS B (GRÈCE)
21) PHILADELPHIA 76ers – TYLER BEY, SMALL FORWARD, COLORADO
22) DENVER NUGGETS – JOSH GREEN, SHOOTING GUARD, ARIZONA
23) NEW YORK KNICKS – THEO MALEDON, POINT GUARD, ASVEL (FRANCE)
24) NEW ORLEANS PELICANS – JADEN MCDANIELS, SMALL FORWARD, WASHINGTON
25) OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER – MALACHI FLYNN, POINT GUARD, SAN DIEGO STATE
26) BOSTON CELTICS – ROBERT WOODWARD II, POWER FORWARD, MISSISSIPPI STATE
27) UTAH JAZZ – TYRELL TERRY, POINT GUARD, STANFORD
28) OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER – ISAIAH STEWART, POWER FORWARD, WASHINGTON
29) TORONTO RAPTORS – VERNON CAREY JR, CENTER, DUKE
30) BOSTON CELTICS – LEANDRO BOLMARO, SHOOTING GUARD, FC BARCELONA (ESPAGNE)

NBA mock draft 2020: Our writers make picks for their favorite teams
Our latest mock draft is from those who know each team best.
The Minnesota Timberwolves are finally on the clock. After a nearly five-month delay because of the Covid-19 pandemic, the 2020 NBA Draft is set to be held on Wednesday, Nov. 18. While this isn’t considered the strongest draft class in recent memory, it is still full of young and exciting players who will one day help shape the future of the league.
As the draft approaches, the SB Nation NBA community sites have held a mock draft. One representative from every community made the pick for their team. No trades were allowed this year because of the league’s delayed salary cap announcement.
Click the related link to each SB Nation NBA community for further analysis of the selection, and join the discussion in the comments. In a draft with little consensus at the top, there’s certainly going to be plenty to debate. We begin the draft with Canis Hoopus selecting for the Wolves.
1. Minnesota Timberwolves - Anthony Edwards, G, Georgia
Sans the ability to trade picks in this Blogger Mock Draft, this becomes the most logical move for Gersson Rosas at the top. The Wolves currently have their cornerstone PG/C duo (for better or worse), so selecting either James Wiseman or LaMelo Ball doesn’t appear to make much sense for Minnesota. While Edwards does carry the slight risk of becoming Andrew Wiggins 2.0 in the land of 10,000 lakes, his overall athleticism and offensive potential are too good to pass up for a team desperately in need of talent on the wing.
- Kyle Theige, Canis Hoopus
2. Golden State Warriors - James Wiseman, C, Memphis
Because we can’t trade the pick, I went with the player who is the best available and fills a big need for the Warriors. Wiseman has all of the tools to be a very good center in the league. He is one of the best athletes available and will develop into a solid rim-protector. Although his college sample size is small, Wiseman has apparently been killing it during workouts. General manager Bob Myers can focus on adding a wing via free agency and take a flier on a cheap PF/C to fill out the roster.
- Jas Kang, Golden State of Mind
3. Charlotte Hornets - LaMelo Ball, PG, Illawara Hawks
The Hornets are in talent acquisition mode, and LaMelo Ball might be the most talented prospect in this draft. Ball is positionally redundant with the Hornets’ current two best players, but his size allows him to share the floor with either Terry Rozier or Devonte’ Graham, and even both for stretches. His ability to create looks for others will open up scoring opportunities for both of the other Hornets guards, who were often overburdened on the offensive end last season. He would also bring a superstar presence to a franchise that’s always struggling to attain media relevance.
- Jonathan DeLong, At the Hive
4. Chicago Bulls - Killian Hayes, G, Ulm
Like Charlotte, Chicago is also in talent acquisition mode and should be aiming to take the best player on the board. That player is Killian Hayes. He also fits Chicago’s need for a lead guard who can get everyone into the right spots on offense along with creating some scoring of his own, especially with his shooting off the dribble. Hayes has already shown he can play over in Europe and has the tools to be a good player in the NBA. With Coby White viewed more as a two guard, Hayes will easily slot in as Chicago’s point guard of the future. There is a lot of upside with this pick.
- Vijay Vemu, Blog-a-Bull
5. Cleveland Cavaliers - Onyeka Okongwu, C, USC
For the record, Deni Avdija and Isaac Okoro were the other options strongly considered here. But the Cavs desperately need a defensive presence for now and the long-term. Andre Drummond just isn’t that. Okongwu’s ability to cover ground, rotate correctly and play smart defense is needed for a franchise that has been historically bad on defense for the past two seasons. What his offensive game looks like is a mystery and it’s hard to pass up two wings - another position of need. But Okongwu’s upside and ability to fill a need is just too good to pass up.
- Chris Manning, Fear the Sword
6. Atlanta Hawks - Isaac Okoro, F, Auburn
This is a draft class in which many of the prospects are bunched tightly together, meaning that a lot of the picks in this range come down to personal preference. The Hawks would’ve considered Killian Hayes as an upside swing if he fell to No. 6, but with him off the board, the decision came down to Okoro and Devin Vassell. There isn’t a massive gap between those two players in a vacuum, but Okoro brings an intriguing skill set, with athleticism, strength and defensive upside. Offensively, he can attack close-outs, finish at the rim, make plays as a passer and serve as a secondary creator. His jump shot is a work in progress but, if he can become a league-average perimeter shooter, the sky is the limit. Even if he can’t, his other skills, headlined by his defense, will carry the day.
- Brad Rowland, Peachtree Hoops
7. Detroit Pistons - R.J. Hampton, G, New Zealand Breakers
This was an incredibly tough decision based on how important it is for a franchise desperately in need of top-end playmaking and talent to reach in the draft for a player with the potential to fill that goal. Do you take a player with all-around skills you are confident in or do you evaluate who might have that small chance of being a No. 1 option? That was the great Patrick Williams vs. RJ Hampton debate in the Pistons war room. In the end, we decided first-year GM Troy Weaver should swing for the fences on guard R.J. Hampton who has athleticism and playmaking skills to lead the Pistons offense at the one or the two, whichever he naturally fits best. Williams, meanwhile, would be a great complementary piece, but Detroit really needs that piece he’d be complementing. Other factors in Hampton’s favor are a) his youth, b) that Hampton has been working to remake and transform his shot into something that would work at the next level. If he can become a potent perimeter shooter, he could be an incredibly successful offensive player in the NBA and while he has a lot to work on from a defensive perspective, he has the athletic tools to be successful with dedicated development time.
- Sean Corp, Detroit Bad Boys
8. New York Knicks - Devin Vassell, G, Florida State
The Knicks need a little bit of everything, but one thing they need most is outside shooting. Devin Vassell shot over 40% in both of his seasons at Florida State, and is a certified genius in team defense. He rose from outside the top 200 in the high school recruiting rankings to a top-10 pick in two years, so we’re betting there is still some upside to be had.
- Joe Flynn, Posting and Toasting
9. Washington Wizards - Tyrese Haliburton, G, Iowa State
The Wizards need defensive help at every position. We were hoping for Okongwu or Okoro to be at No. 9 but both were gone. In addition, Precious Achiuwa was more of a reach with the No. 9 pick and we can’t trade down. While Avdija seemed tantalizing since he fell to No. 9, Washington does need another guard who could play a major role if the team gets into firesale mode in a year. And if the team starts winning many games, he can still be a strong option off the bench. Halliburton is a strong three point shooter and can be a good point guard option for the Wizards in a post Wall/Beal world. But he can also help right away with their playoff hopes which the Wizards want to do in the immediate term.
- Albert Lee, Bullets Forever
10. Phoenix Suns - Kira Lewis Jr., G, Alabama
The Suns really need a point guard of the future to take over for Ricky Rubio in 2021 or 2022, and that PG is Kira Lewis Jr. He and Booker can share the ball handling duties, playing off the ball next to each other as well as leading the second unit when the other is resting. Lewis has a bright future as a combo guard who can even get minutes his rookie season playing off ball next to Rubio in Booker-less lineups. The Suns got a steal here, in my opinion. Lewis could be one of the very best players in this draft.
- Dave King, Bright Side of the Sun
11. San Antonio Spurs - Deni Avdija, F, Maccabi Tel Aviv
Coming into the draft with an appetite for frontcourt talent, the Spurs were surprised to find themselves with a handful of appealing, and contrasting, options at 11. Those included Avdija and Obi Toppin, both guys they expected to be off the board, and the raw Patrick Williams. They went with the Israeli prospect, who exists somewhere in the vast ocean that spans Toppin’s ready-made offensive game and Williams’ two-way potential. Avdija’s playmaking and versatility are welcome complements to a Spurs youth movement that’s heavy on guards and light on shot creation, and his professional experience makes him the rare Spurs rookie that can expect a role early in their career.
- Bruno Passos, Pounding the Rock
12. Sacramento Kings - Patrick Williams, F, Florida State
Williams’ numbers aren’t eye-popping but he provides something the Kings desperately need: toughness. He has plenty of room to develop and with Sacramento still a while away from contending for a playoff spot, the team can be patient with him. The Kings could lose Alex Len and Harry Giles in free agency, so they need to bolster their frontcourt. Williams is a very good team defender who will help strengthen the back line of the team’s defense. He makes up for his lack of athleticism with a high basketball IQ, but he will need to work on his explosiveness in order to have an impact on the offensive end.
- Sabreena Merchant, Sactown Royalty
13. New Orleans Pelicans - Aaron Nesmith, SG, Vanderbilt
With the futures of Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson in mind, the Pelicans would be happy to score a high end role player in a weak draft devoid of booming potential. Aaron Nesmith fits the bill perfectly as his extraordinary shooting skills (52.2 percent from three-point range on 8.2 3PA) will keep driving lanes open for years to come for the two New Orleans cornerstones. Mentoring under JJ Redick could prove invaluable, and between Van Gundy’s teachings and Aaron Nelson’s training staff, a good chance exists for the 6’10 wingspan of Nesmith to reach his ceiling as an above average defender.
- Oleh Kosel, The Bird Writes
14. Boston Celtics - Obi Toppin, F, Dayton
The Celtics have three first-round selections, and must thread the needle between taking best player available and filling the need for immediate impact. An unforeseen slide of Obi Toppin makes him a high-value draft pick, both in trade markets elsewhere and in how he can make an immediate impact in Boston. Toppin is a freak athlete, shot above 39% from 3 and has the inside-outside offensive game needed in a hybrid big man. While there are legitimate defensive concerns, the talent and impact was too much to pass on at 14, and Boston provides him the opportunity to play the 5, likely his best NBA position
- Adam Spinella, Celtics Blog
15. Orlando Magic - Cole Anthony, G, North Carolina
It’s no secret that the point guard position has been a hot topic for the Orlando Magic over the last few years. While Markelle Fultz showed some positive signs last season, the Magic still need some depth at the position, especially with both D.J. Augustin and Michael Carter-Williams hitting the free agent market. Taking Cole Anthony gives the Magic a guard that can create his own shot, and can shoot the ball from beyond the arc some as well. Anthony will give the Magic the needed depth, and the ability to run out some two point guard lineups as well.
- Zach Oliver, Orlando Pinstripe Post
16. Portland Trail Blazers - Saddiq Bey, F, Villanova
The late-lottery, boom-or-bust prospects were off the board when this pick arrived, forcing this selection in the direction of the safe route. In a draft class filled with uncertainty, Saddiq Bey is on a short list of safe bets. Depending on how the offseason rolls out in Portland, it is possible that Bey could push for minutes as a rookie. There is always room for tertiary scoring alongside the Blazers’ star-studded backcourt. Again, this isn’t a flashy pick, but it is one that falls inside Damian Lillard’s prime.
- Steve Dewald, Blazer’s Edge
17. Minnesota Timberwolves - Tyrese Maxey, G, Kentucky
One of the core competencies at Canis Hoopus is simple: Pick Kentucky Players (shoutout John Meyer). Maxey’s speed, athleticism, and ability to finish around the rim would instantly be a huge boost to Minnesota’s second unit, and if his stroke from deep can (consistently) develop, he would immediately become the next Wildcat alum to take a sizable leap from college into the pros.
- Kyle Theige, Canis Hoopus
18. Dallas Mavericks - Aleksej Pokuševski, F, Serbia
With the 18th pick the Dallas Mavericks select perhaps the most polarizing player in the 2020 draft. The Mavericks won’t have a pick this high (or a pick, period) for years, so this is their last chance to add raw and young talent to their roster. Does he make sense for the short term? No. But if Poku can add weight and perform against better quality talent, he might just be ready for Dallas right when Luka Dončić’s rookie extension kicks in and it gets more difficult financially to add pieces to the Mavericks. His skill set and size it just too much to ignore at this point in the draft.
- Kirk Henderson, Mavs Moneyball
19. Brooklyn Nets - Precious Achiuwa, F/C, Memphis
This pick is all about size and athleticism. Having a big like Achiuwa who is super athletic, quick, can defend and rebound the basketball slip to No. 19 is a nice get here. For his size, to be able to keep pace with the likes of Durant and Irving, plus being able to provide an extra body on the growing list of athletic fours in the game; you can see where Achiuwa and his 7’2” wingspan can come in and make an impact right away.
- Tom Lorenzo, Nets Daily
20. Miami Heat - Jalen Smith, F, Maryland
At No. 20, the Heat are looking for a contributor to their core. Jalen Smith provides the length, defensive versatility, and shooting they lacked to pair with or behind Bam Adebayo in the playoffs. Smith’s 7’2” wingspan paired with some Culture will make him someone with immediate impact.
- Matt Pineda, Hot Hot Hoops
21. Philadelphia 76ers - Desmond Bane, G, TCU
In their never-ending search for perimeter scoring, the Sixers go with TCU product Desmond Bane. Bane was a four-year player at the NCAA level which may scare some other teams off, but Philly is pretty smitten with how things turned out with Matisse Thybulle (also a four-year player). Bane has the size and athleticism to hold his own defensively, and if his career 43.3 percent mark from three-point range translates to the next level, he’ll contribute out of the gate. Longer term, he could be a perfect complement to Ben Simmons as a secondary ball-handler.
- Kevin Love, Liberty Ballers
22. Denver Nuggets - Tyler Bey, F, Colorado
The Nuggets take the local kid, grabbing a forward who reportedly registered a 43.5” vertical jump in his combine measurements. Bey is an athletic defender whose skills as a rebounder help strengthen one of the Nuggets strengths. He doesn’t have to come in as a shooting threat, and his ability to score around the rim plays well next to Nikola Jokić, Michael Porter Jr., and potentially Jerami Grant. If Grant leaves, Bey can slot in as the forward defender the team needs. He could have a lot of highlight reel plays finishing lobs on a loaded Nuggets team.
- Daniel Lewis, Denver Stiffs
23. Utah Jazz - Josh Green, G, Arizona
After their disappointing finish in the playoffs, Dennis Lindsey said Utah’s goal in the offseason would be to improve their defense while not sacrificing spacing. Josh Green should help with both those things. Green has great size at the wing standing 6’6” with a 6’10” wingspan and uses it well on the defensive end filling lanes and playing good on-ball defense. Green also shot 36 percent from three and has a nice looking shot that should only improve with time.
- James Hansen, SLC Dunk
24. Milwaukee Bucks - Theo Maledon, G, AVSEL
Milwaukee is searching for more dynamism in their backcourt after yet another playoff flameout and Maledon offers the upside and playmaking potential that could fit the bill. While his iffy shooting figures provide some pause, the hope is that Bud’s staff can give him a salvageable deep ball to accompany his nifty passing skills to ease Giannis Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton’s playmaking burden. With 6’9” length, if he improves his body he could follow in George Hill’s footsteps as a solid guard capable of scoring capably on several levels offensively.
- Adam Paris, Brew Hoop
25. Oklahoma City Thunder - Leandro Bolmaro, G, Barcelona
He can give the Thunder a point forward off the bench so Dennis Schroder doesn’t have to be fully responsible for creating all the plays for the bench unit. He’s versatile and he’d be a solid addition to the team.
- Sarah Dewberry, Welcome to Loud City
26. Boston Celtics - Tyrell Terry, G, Stanford
Another guy with lottery rumors falling to our pick, Terry has the potential to be the long-term point guard of choice next to Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. A sharpshooter with a brilliantly quick release and deep range, Terry would add a Curry-esque dynamic to this offense. While his point guard skills and on-ball defense are in need of seasoning, the Celtics have proven capable of blanketing a smaller point guard in the past. Expect a few minutes off the bench early in his career while he’s groomed to be a floor spacer around Boston’s core in the future.
- Adam Spinella, Celtics Blog
27. New York Knicks - Malachi Flynn, G, San Diego State
The Knicks haven’t had a legitimate point guard since...well, it’s been awhile. Malachi Flynn was one of the best players in college basketball last season, a pick-and-roll maestro who can shoot it from anywhere. He might start for this Knicks team.
- Joe Flynn, Posting and Toasting
28. Los Angeles Lakers - Grant Riller, G, Charleston
Riller is a three-level scorer for a team that could benefit significantly from an on-ball creator, as outside of LeBron James and Anthony Davis to an extent, no other player on the team was a dependable source of perimeter creation in the halfcourt (Playoff Rondo notwithstanding). Riller’s push skills are whether his passing can catch up to his shotmaking, and whether his defense looks better when not asked to take on such a large offensive load — Riller showed flashes of the latter, albeit inconsistently this past season. Would still handicap the pick as likely to be traded on draft night, but Riller would be a solid addition who could likely have a fair shot of contributing in the short term at a spot of need for a defending title team.
- Ben Rosales, Silver Screen and Roll
29. Toronto Raptors - Jaden McDaniels, F, Washington
It’s a bit of a surprise to see McDaniels still on the board, and since the Raptors promised to be aggressive in their mission to add talent to their young core, he’s their guy at no. 29. Listed at 6’10” and 200 lbs, 20-year-old McDaniels has the talent and two-way potential to propel his way into the conversation as one of the better players in this year’s draft class. He also presents the Raptors with another multi-dimensional option on the wing, giving coach Nurse even more lineup flexibility with which to tinker. In all, it’s not hard to bet on Toronto’s ability to develop McDaniels with the right mindset and along the best path to unlock his full potential.
- JD Quirante, Raptors HQ
30. Boston Celtics - Isaiah Joe, G, Arkansas
The Celtics didn’t enter this draft expecting to take three domestic players, but we can finagle things to make room for the right three. If there’s one theme in our picks, it’s that shooting rules the roost. We have a superstar scorer, some great slashers and enough defensive versatility and firepower to remain a threat. Isaiah Joe could easily end up the best shooter in this class, and bringing he and Terry to Boston, as well as a pick & pop threat in Toppin, should open up the floor plenty for Tatum and company.

Three-time Grammy Award-winning Songwriter, Report Developer & Vocal Arranger TROY TAYLOR that commemorates 30 years in the popular music field this year has teamed up with everyone fromBoyz II Men, Brian McKnight ,Tyrese,Whitney Houston, Lionel Richie , Aretha Franklin,
Mary J. Blige,
The O'Jays, Patti LaBelle, Toni Braxton , Trey Songz to Jacquees to call a couple of
. I overtook the hit-making tremendously developer to review the experience, his advocate Mayor of R&B, career-defining tracks, Whitney
Houston & even more ... TERRANCE: This year notes your three decades in the popular music industry. What has the quest felt like hence far? TROY TAYLOR:&It's been actually interesting I would certainly point out in a feeling. I went by means of a separation when I was forty and also I must additionally make that Trey Songz Ready album in the method of going
with that divorce, to ensure that was actually one of the most difficult aspect of it. I began as a partner in a developer duo gotten in touch with The Characters. In 2002, I ventured off by on my own and also started a manufacturing firm,Songbook Amusement.
It is actually been testing but because I enjoyed it so a lot, I've found out how to adapt to transform with the moments. TERRANCE: You have actually an initiative gotten in touch with Mayor of R&B. Speak about that and also the goal. TROY TAYLOR: So I developed this Mayor for R&B as a campaign to dedicate my encounter, my love for music, my affection for R&B to devoting it back to plans, arrangements, bridges. All the traits our company do not listen to in songs today, thus when I place it as a campaign, it just simply suggests dedicating on my own to this age group to reveal them the market value of these changes that creates R&B have the sense that we understand it to become. TERRANCE: What was your innovative involvement in K. Michelle's latest cd,
All Monsters Are Actually Human!.?.!? TROY TAYLOR: Well, some years back I made some of her Gold single people contacted"Can not Elevate A Guy "however ever since, it's resembled one of those points that, K. Michelle recognize that there's certainly not as well many individuals than may control her as well as pull the most ideal away from her without her intimidating all of them off therefore I'm none of those individuals she scares off simply or even in any way. It enables me to pull the very best out of her as well as so she often tends to finish up calling me since she knows I would certainly be able to obtain the most effective out of her.
TERRANCE: Talk about the brand new Dru Mountain single you produced gotten in touch with "What You Need". TROY TAYLOR: So I really Executive Produced the entire cd as well as our experts have a lot of incredible songs
."What You Need"is actually a tune that they experienced would be actually a good tune to start off along with simply off of it possessing the initial Dru Hill type consistency and also audio and it is actually a great track to blend in along with their extremely initial tune"Inform Me". Collectively, they as a matter of fact mix it belong that track, so it is actually just something they experienced will be excellent to start with. I performed a considerable amount of tunes on the project.
TERRANCE: What was it like dealing with Kevin Ross on his singular"Trait Got in touch with Passion". TROY TAYLOR: Well, Kevin is among my proteges actually. He utilized to become my artist when he was authorized to Motown as well as our company simply permitted him vacate, as well as permit him spread his wings out a little bit of bit extra to venture out and also do his very own trait, but he as well as I possess a friendship at the same time, so whenever he needs me I am actually regularly mosting likely to sympathize him. He possessed the tune, however with the method he videotaped it, I thought his vocals needed to be
stronger. TERRANCE: As a recognized Songwriter & Producer in this particular sector, what creates a song great? TROY TAYLOR: What makes a song excellent to me, is actually a tune that has the capability to take you no matter where you require to be when you require to go. If you wan na be actually satisfied, it may make you pleased. A good song ought to create you feel the emotional state of whatever it is actually claiming as well as it should have the capacity to be a soundtrack throughout your day to express whatever emotion you believe. TERRANCE: What are your five career-defining songs you possess created and/or produced? TROY TAYLOR: Certainly not in any type of certain order, it would be actually, of training program"Sugary food Lady"by Tyrese."Neighbors Know My Call"through Trey Songz, considering that there's no track in the background of songs keeping that title."The First Noel ", a Xmas tune that I created for Whitney, considering that it arrives each year. "Merely Came Right Here to Chill" through The Isley Brothers, due to the fact that Ron Isley is actually like some of my beloved, preferred
."Your Passion"by Boyz II Males, since that song was supposed to be actually for my album and also when I heard all of them vocalize, I provided it to all of them. TERRANCE: Which years in popular music you would claim determined you one of the most and why? TROY TAYLOR: It's gon na be actually a cross between the 70's as well as the 80's along with the
80's probably initially given that a bunch of music I grew on in the 70's I remember, however didn't analyze until the 80's. In the 90's I discovered just how a lot I found out coming from the 70's. TERRANCE: Where perform you see R&B entering the future? TROY TAYLOR: I believe it's gon na come back. It's visiting definitely be extra efficient, because the millennial age group is actually growing up currently, so they wish a lot more out of music. They're heading to manage it a little
better, since it is actually going to stand for exactly how they think currently.
TERRANCE: What are your ideas when you believe you do not receive the debt you should within this electronic songs age? TROY TAYLOR: It's worse right now than ever before, considering that there are no CD's or inlays to consider and also read. Thus now I have to turn to performing tags and as much as I do not like tags, I perform understand right now the usefulness of it, is for individuals to know that I worked with that song. I do not essentially like it, yet it's what I need to do. It is actually all portion of transforming along with the moments. TERRANCE: Everybody have their viewpoint of what excellence is actually. Exactly how would certainly you describe it? TROY TAYLOR: Results to me is actually when you're at
the factor where no concern exactly how challenging it acquires, you still discover a technique to smile. That is actually effectiveness. Given that when you can not, no issue when it obtain difficult as well as you can not locate a technique to grin and also to always keep progressing, then you're certainly not effective. When you possess something that you really love and also you are actually productive at it, when hardships come as they perform with everything, you tend to be attracted in the direction of the thought and sensation of results, you know?
I can't allow this break me, to ensure to me is what effectiveness is. TERRANCE: What was the experience like to win Dove Awards for your recent deal with Donald Lawrence & Koryn Hawthorne? TROY TAYLOR: That's amazing considering that I didn't see that coming given that I am actually an R&B fella, despite the fact that I grew up in Congregation. I carry out, do Gospel music however I still wouldn't have actually anticipated that to happen, to ensure that was
definitely, really excellent. TERRANCE: What was it like teaming up along with Whitney on" Unashamed "for the Merely Whitney ... album? TROY TAYLOR: Well, that was actually a definitely, really exciting track for her if you listen closely to the lyrics. It was a little bit of in advance of it 's time I would state. I likewise teamed up with her on her Christmas time venture which was incredibly
fascinating considering that I was able to audio document while I was partnering with her. I possess a great audio of our team communicating along with one another while I was actually collaborating with her which was actually tremendously funny to hear her in her aspect, only being absurd as well as only being Whitney. The very most essential and also most reputable thing is that it is actually for me only and also nobody worldwide possesses it, therefore in my masterclasses that I do around the globe, I have a segment where I play those sounds for individuals to listen to how she was. TERRANCE: One of my preferred Kenny Lattimore cds is Weekend break. What was it like teaming up with him about that task? TROY TAYLOR: Kenny is my individual. He's one of my closest pals in this particular songs field. Carrying out that venture was actually really excellent since it stretched him vocally. I performed like six tunes on that particular cd. I managed to really, truly, definitely press him right into little a lot more edgier functionalities as opposed to the smooth singing that he is actually made use of to.
" arial", "helvetica", sans-serif;'> TERRANCE: You teamed up with the late Tony Thompson formerly of Hi-Five back in '95 on his solo debut album Sexsational. Why do you assume that cd didn't live up to it is actually possible? TROY TAYLOR: I presume a ton of it concerned his psychological health and wellness. Mental health and wellness had not been a major package in the past, yet he was definitely enduring and had some psychological health issues that decreased him below performing each of things that he required to accomplish to advertise it as well as to be all that he needed to be.&That is actually from my viewpoint coming from at that time from what I observed. I just found an unhappy person that had not been actually right into it as he might've been actually. TERRANCE: One of the exciting points concerning the remake you made for Brownstone got in touch with "I Can't Inform You Why", is actually Maxee performs the lead vocals on the cd model and Nicci performs the top vocals on the single version. What led to that switch? TROY TAYLOR: That is actually an amusing one considering that I seemed like if you know the original Eagles song, it's a rather smooth song and it's rather relaxed. I performed an R&B variation of it, I seemed like Nicci is precisely the diva but I felt like Maximum's vocal fitted better. It became a little bit of political because in order for it to become a solitary as well as to have the Brownstone audio, Nicci will've needed to be actually the lead performer on it consequently for the remix they exchanged all of them out.
TERRANCE: There is actually an SWV gem you produced named "Shock Me". Refer to that. TROY TAYLOR: That is actually a song where I had each one of the group sing on. Of program Coko performs the lead, yet they all possess parts in it, you recognize what I mean? I thought that if you are actually a group as well as you could possibly all sing, then you must all of have parts. The track could finish along with the top vocalist taking it residence, yet despite having like Boyz II Men. Commonly Nate or Shawn would certainly begin it off as well as either will go next and Wanya would deliver it home. To me, that's what a group carries out. TERRANCE: And also talking, exactly how performed you associate with Boyz II Guys? I recognize you dealt with them on their Cooleyhighharmony and II cds. TROY TAYLOR: Once Again, I was an artist on Motown at some aspect dealing with my job. When I met them, I chose I failed to desire to be a performer given that it was extra delightful to become behind the scenes as well as performing what I really love, somewhat to become in face consequently after finding their effectiveness I determined I really did not desire to be a performer any longer. TERRANCE: Are actually there any forthcoming tasks that you are actually working with that you can tell our company regarding? TROY TAYLOR: Well, I'm always cleaning performers. I'm still a large follower of Performer Progression, so I constantly have performers under me who I am actually brushing and also focusing on. The following approaching point is the Dru Mountain job. I have actually been actually dealing with Queen Naija and also I'm operating along with Pink Sweat $, to ensure ought to be awesome. There is actually a tune arriving along with Lil Duval featuring Storage tank & Jacquees and it is actually heading to be actually super hilarious as well as it is actually a truly great R&B file and also gon na be actually really suitable for R&B. TERRANCE: Exists anything not reviewed you would love to show your fans, fans & the audiences? TROY TAYLOR: I 'd claim follow me as well as ready to elect me as your Mayor of R&B. When individuals inquire, what does that indicate? That only simply suggests to help me assist the original elements of what R&B popular music should possess. The reason why it's certainly not in a lot of popular music today is actually due to the fact that the kids do not know just how to accomplish it. They do not recognize how to make improvements. They do not recognize any kind of idea, so they just usually tend to keep it repeating given that it's secure.

Yassine Gharram is a case and point that sometimes the best things do come in small packages. The senior point guard plays for Foothills Christian (CA), a dominant San Diego team based out of a small school in El Cajon. Years ago, Coach Brad Leaf set his sights on creating a behemoth of a program based on big players and hard work. Players have come and gone, including his sons Troy and TJ Leaf. Throughout the years, the Knights were known for blowing the competition out in San Diego and even challenging the Southern California powers over the years. The winning demeanor and championships are still over the horizon as these traditions have now been endowed upon new names.
This season, Yassine Gharram stars as the dynamic guard leading the Knight’s charge, Yassine’s games speaks levels, as the dynamic guard is a magician on the court. In fact, he suited up with Adidas Gauntlet Compton Magic throughout his AAU career, playing with and against the best competition on a national level. Yassine’s game is eclectic as he is a phenomenal passer, finding his teammates in the most amazing fashions. He is slippery with the ball and when need be he can take it to the rim himself and shoot it from deep at a high clip. I was able to catch up with the multi talented player and person that Yassine is over a series of questions.
Albert: So tell me, what did it mean for yourself and your family, continuing your basketball career at Yale?
Yassine: It was a dream come true. I’ve worked really hard to get to this point, staying humble and listening to the right people around me. Not many understand your vision or believe it can be possible but your family, then to achieve it, is a true blessing. It was a no brainer for me and my family - to be blessed to to pick Yale as my school of choice and to have Coach Jones believe in me from day 1. My story is very special to us.
Albert: What is it like attending Foothills Christian, a small school with a big basketball program?
Yassine: Our basketball tradition has been set out to strive to be great. The guys that came before us have done a phenomenal job of paving the way for people like me and the younger guys on the team to continue to set the standard of what it is truly like being a Knight. Coach Brad Leaf has done an outstanding job coaching me and I am very very blessed to have such a great man, role model, and coach in my life. The standard is set high at Foothills and you better be ready to work your tail off for 4 years everyday!
Albert: Tell me about your experience playing with Compton Magic and what do you take away from those experiences with them ?
Yassine: Traveling with such a great group of guys and coaches was an honor for me to be part of. They have taught me lessons bigger than basketball and showed us what it is like to be a family. I am forever grateful for Etope and all my coaches who believed in me to help reach my dreams.
Albert: My player comparison for you is Tyrese Haliburton. What do you think about this comparison?
Yassine: I think that is a great comparison of my game. He’s a long, an elite passer and rebounder who leads his team and does whatever coach wants him to do. He hits open shots and can create for himself which I do as well. He is really fun to watch.
Albert: What are your goals for the remainder of the season, as league play progresses?
Yassine: To do whatever it takes to win every game and anything my coach sets out for me to do! To continue to be a great vocal leader who is positive with his teammates.
Albert: How do you see yourself fitting into Yale’s system next year?
Yassine: I see myself fitting into Yale’s scheme next year as someone who is ready to bring in my leadership and someone who is ready for whatever Coach Jones throws at me to do.
Albert: What do you try to accomplish night in, night out, on the basketball court ?
Yassine: I start with defensive pressure, full court to set the standard of the game - that it’s going to be a rough at game for the opposing point guard and my teammates will follow. I get guys open shots and if I have a clear look at the basket then I will take it. Just listening to coach and leading my team. Doing whatever it takes to get the W.

Throwback: Tyrese-Sweet Lady
Tyrese emerged as a new young R&B singer in 1998 with his self-titled solo album. A 1994 appearance singing in a Coca-Cola commercial landed him a record deal with RCA Records. "Sweet Lady" was written by Johntá Austin, Charles Farrar and Troy Taylor. Their combined efforts were complimented by Tyrese's voice that had an agedness that reminded fans of older R&B singers like Teddy Pendergrass. His model looks translated well in the video that starred actress Maia Campbell and took place on a bus just like his Coca-Cola ad. The palpable emotion embedded in Tyrese's vocals made "Sweet Lady" the most loved song from the album and earned him a Grammy nomination. Tyrese's career had a fortuitous beginning with his first album that eventually made platinum status. He started his acting career two years earlier with a role on the TV show Hangin' With Mr. Cooper. In the 2000s, he starred in John Singleton's Baby Boy and became a regular cast member of The Fast and the Furious film series. In 2013, the singer and actor collaborated with Tank and Ginuwine to form the group TGT and Atlantic Records released their Three Kings album. Tyrese has six studio albums to his credit and in 2017 he spoke of working on a project called Identity Theft.
