Many of you who may care more about what's happening in the typography area around the world wide world you have a friend blog that aims to bring you disruptive news from the type web called "typotipau" or (including Greek characters) "typoτυπω".

Lately, because of visual identity updates, I considered a logotype a must-attachment and tried to fill the gap with an approach that felt stiff and too common.

Finally, I designed the glyph published here regarding both Latin & Greek languages enjoying the process.

Rationale #1

Title : Typelove Complementary Typeface Poster

Challenge :

My challenge was to create a 24" by 36" poster that showcases two complementary typefaces in a balanced way while staying within the design theme of 70s movie posters.

Approach :

With my 70s movie and complemtry typefaces picked out I focused on balancing both of my elements in an equal way, making sure one doesn't over take the other.

What I did :

I chose the movie "The Goonies" because it was one of my favourite movies growing up. My choice to choose "The Goonies" influenced my choice for my two complementary typefaces as the movie is centred around finding pirates treasure I chose two typefaces that reflected that. I chose the colours based off other 70s movie poster.

Title : Equilibrium Table and Branding Icons

Challenge :

My challenge was to first come up and design 4 different icons for the brand Equilibrium. One for Data Integration, One for Data Quality, One for Location Intelligence, and one for Data Enrichment.

Next I was tasked with designing a table that showcased the data I was given, as well as showcased the new Equilibrium Icons.

Approach :

Before designing the icons I first had to understand the meanings of each icons themes, then I designed the icons to the best of my understanding.

For the table I wanted to create a compelling and appealing table that showed the data swell as the icons.

What I did :

I made my design decisions with the icons based on my research on the themes of each icon.

Title : (Unofficial) Skullcandy Wireless Headphone Ad's

Challenge :

My Challenge was the photography and create advertisements for the item(s) you photographed.

Approach :

My approach was to stick to Skullcandies original branding the best I could. I wanted to make these advertisements as real and cool looking as possible.

What I did :

I set up very homemade and complex rigs to take photos of my chosen item. I used mostly white light and experimented with different lighting angles.

Title : (Unofficial) Folklife Magazine Spread

Challenge :

My challenge was to work with an appointed art director to create a magazine spread based off of the Folklife Magazine, and make it look like it's from said magazine.

Approach :

Before starting I first had to research the Folklife Magazine to understand their layout swell as the type of photography they use.

What I did :

I used photography that resembles that of the photography you would find in the Folklife Magazine. I used a very similar, if not the same, typeface for the body text of our given article. I used a freeform yet structured grid system that resembles that of the on found in the Folklife magazine.

Pepperoni Slab is a Humanistic slab serif font in three weights, inspired by hand-painted signage and the designer's love of pizza, offering a delicious typography experience.
