Tyler the creator grammy
Tumblr media
With Tyler claiming this year’s Grammy for Best Rap Album, it brought mixed reactions from individuals online, some of whom felt another artist deserved the trophy. Viewers react to Tyler’s 2022 Grammy award win A lot of people in here, that s**t kept us out of trouble,” he said during his Cultural Influence Award acceptance speech. Because like, this thing that’s a hobby or a pastime or a passion for us here. “There’s a line by Playboi Carti that goes, ‘Bought my mom a house off this mumble s**t,’ and I always get like teared up when he says that. He also picked up Best Live Performer and the Cultural Influence Award. In addition to Grammys, Tyler has won at the BET Hip Hop Awards, including a win last year for Call Me If You Get Lost. He appeared at the ceremony and was joined on stage by his mother, who was quite emotional at seeing her son claim his first Grammy. Tyler previously claimed Best Rap Album for his 2020 work, IGOR. If you put that much energy into something, maybe everyone will be proud of you too,” Tyler said. “I know you’re seething and angry, and ‘Uh, no one listens to that album.’ These arena tours that are selling out say different. He also aimed at his critics, with Hot New Hip Hop reporting he may have been trolling DJ Khaled. While the video session cut in and out, Tyler reflected on being able to create Call Me If You Get Lost. “Thank you to all of my friends for being my cheerleaders. You are f**king so important to rap music,” he said. While he wasn’t at the event, Tyler connected with fans and followers in an Instagram Live session (video below) to give necessary shoutouts and thoughts about the win. However, it was Tyler’s time to shine again, as the rapper claimed the award for the second time in the past three years. Among the four contenders were King’s Disease II by Nas, Donda by Kanye West, and The Off Season by J. This year, four incredible rap albums were up for Best Rap Album, but only one could win. Tyler reacts to his Grammy win on Instagram Live With Tyler grabbing the win over his colleagues, it led to plenty of reactions on social media, as viewers gave their thoughts on the Grammy award choice. Drake’s Certified Lover Boy was initially nominated in the category, but he withdrew his two nominations, including Best Rap Performance for Way 2 Sexy. Tyler picked up the win for his June 2021 release, Call Me If You Get Lost, besting rappers Kanye West, Nas, and J. Sunday night’s 64th Annual Grammy Awards had plenty of big winners, including rapper Tyler, the Creator, who claimed the second grammy trophy of his career for Best Rap Album. Pic credit: Recording Academy / GRAMMYs/YouTube To me, it’s just a politically correct way to say the N-word.Tyler, the Creator claims the Grammy award for Best Rap Album. But also, it sucks that whenever we, and I mean guys that look like me, do anything that’s genre-bending, they always put it in a ‘rap’ or ‘urban’ category. “I’m half and half on it,” he said, responding to a question about the Grammy voting process being called into question over the past week, thanks in part to a high-profile lawsuit filed by ousted Recording Academy chief Deborah Dugan, and how he feels about it. “On one side, I’m very grateful that what I made could just be acknowledged in a world like this. But minutes later, he admitted to reporters backstage that he’d love to break out of those rap or urban categories and be recognized on a more mainstream level. Tyler, the Creator was obviously excited to win his very first Grammy on Sunday night, taking home best rap album for Igor and giving a jubilant acceptance speech flanked by his sobbing mom and his Odd Future compatriot Jasper Dolphin.

Made a TON of Venture Bros. genderbends :D
Bonus + some of my thoughts on all the designs under the cut:
Tumblr media
This is from a conversation I had with a friend about how Dermott and Hank would behave in this AU (its exactly the same as normal)
Ok now some thoughts on my design process
Hank: I think I drew Hank's face actually perfect, I made her so cute. I also feel like there's a common trope with genderbends where athletic characters get short hair so I gave her long hair and gave Dean short hair. I actually think the longer hair fits her perfectly. ALSO I LOVE HER BOOTS.
Dean: I gave goth Dean more Accessories than normal because normal goth dean had no fucking swag (it was besties idea to make her pants ripped). Even before I started drawing college Dean I knew I was giving her those legwarmers you can pry them from my cold dead hands. Same with the legwarmers I knew the first dean design needed a Jean skirt its just the vibes.
Dermott: The millisecond I even thought about doing Dermott I KNEW she would be 2012 grunge girl aesthetic. Gigantic shoplifting energy. Love her.
Rusty: I wanted her to look like a mean mom and I believe I accomplished that goal. Absolutely had to add the glasses strap. Very Jamie Lee Curtis.
Brock: I drew the one with the hair down first and my friends preferred the one with the hair up so I just did both. I wonder if she was a cheerleader in college and killed another girl on her cheer squad by throwing her too far/dropping them.
21: I drew 21 then I realized I had just drawn myself with bangs. Also I drew her with a blunt because there's an episode where 21 has a joint in his mouth the whole episode the other henchmen are standing in stupid poses in the background and its maybe one of my favorite bits in the entire show its so stupid.
24: 24 took several attempts to get the hair right I kept drawing it short and curly and my friend told me to give her Elaine from Seinfeld hair which I think ended up working really well.
Monarch: One of my favorites I did. I feel like this one you can definitely tell how Bayonetta completely re-arranged my brain chemicals as teenager. I love the hip cutouts, I made a tummy cutout to kind of mimic how Dr.GF's monarch costume is kinda skimpy. It's also hard to tell because of the cowl but I tried to give her like a finger waves hairstyle.
Dr.Gf: I tried a bunch of different hats but my friends liked the brimless hat the most and completely doomed him into looking like a Bellhop (more than he already did). Its giving Tyler the Creator at the 2020 Grammys. I still think he's cute though :)
Billy: I really didnt want to just draw her in a suit because thats boring. The show always gives me 60s vibes despite being set in modern day (I'm sure its on purpose) and I definitely channeled that with Billy. It took a couple tries to find a balance between fitting her body but still looking adult but I think I got it in the end.
Pete: YAYYYY PETE YAAAAYY!!! ^_^ Shes so Ava Max Coded. I also gave her giant buckles on her shoes to match his stupid ass one two buckle my shoes ass shoes.
Triana: Very much looks like putting emo boy in the Pinterest search bar. I made her thigh highs into his sleeves and I gave him square bangs like her.
Dr. Orpheus: NEEDED to make her a hot milf and I did. Its a little hard to see but her shirt has lace over the open part. I love the hair Jewerly at the bottom of her braid. :)

since reader and mig r so big on music i like to think they have debates abt it sometimes 😭😭 definitely turned into an argument somehow fr 💀 (not a serious one thouu)
“Tyler the Creator!
“Kendrick!”
“Tyler. The. Creator!”
“Nooo, you are not listening to me! Kendrick. Lamar!”
“Tyler literally won a grammy for his IGOR album! It was considered to be the ultimate success and became top of the billboard charts!”
“But did he sit down and scored an interview with Ice Cube, DJ Yella, MC Ren?? Nope. He didn’t !”
It has been like this for twenty minutes. Which it was all started something innocent with this or that music edition, only for it leads to the two of you having a bicker on which rapper produced the best music and album,
In the kitchen. Where his frat brothers could hear.
“God, someone needs to fucking duck tape both of their mouths” Carlos groans, rubbing his face. “They’re giving me a headache”
“You know they fight over the dumbest thing? Last week was about a cereal”
“The cinnamon toast crunch and special k? Shit, and i thought my girl was insane”
“Yeah. I swear my head was about to explode” Glen shakes his head,
“I think it’s true love, to be honest” Beck chimes in, looking over at the two of you with a small smile,
You are standing behind the counter while Miguel stands in the opposite, continuing the non-stop banter.
“And as for the grammy?! Kendrick won one too for his DAMN album! So your opinion is invalid, muneca” Miguel shrugs, throwing you a winning smile,
your arms are crossed over your chest. “Nooo, it’s not! Besides, Tyler is creative”
“So is Kendrick!”
“Tyler managed to actually add a touch of jazz to his music. Makes it more smooth and tranquil like! He literally improved that all ever since the Odd Future days. You know that he got the praise for making younger audience hooked with jazz?”
“New York post! Legit called Kendrick as the greatest rapper of our generation. Black Panther soundtrack features Mr. Lamar himself. His music literally speaks so much. About politics, cultures, societies, etc. That man himself, is a masterpiece!”
“Tyler is funny. Kendrick not”
“What the- what that has to do with anything?!”
“I like funny men”
He frowns, taking an offense to that. “I’m funny”
“You’re dad jokes funny, Miggy. Tyler is stand up comedic funny. Like Dave Chapelle”
“Okay now you’re breaking my heart, muñeca”

Folie à deux
The Madness of Two,
Tumblr media
2020, The Grammys.
Your feet pattered the limousine floor as you checked your watch, a slight panic in your face. It was the Grammys this night and with your almost meteoric rise to stardom, this is the first time you’ve felt, Anxious about it. You take a deep breath and relax, slowly letting the world fade around you. It always seems so otherworldly.
It all began with posting a few SoundCloud songs, eventually one blew up and it seems your music name began to make the rounds. Taking that opportunity, you released an album under your name and it spread like Wildfire, big Celebes we’re posting snippets on social media and overnight, you somehow took over the world.
Media deals. Record Labels, Advertisers, all were hounding for you. The next big thing, and it seems it all lead to a climax and here you were. Pulling up to the Grammys, you took a few deep breaths and waited for the door to be opened for you, as your chauffeur did, cameras flashed, cheers and screams were all over the place. You put on a smile and head inside to the main foyer, you were greeted by the obvious managers of said Grammys and was Starstruck by those inside, Multi record winning Artists, people who are considered gods. You were standing with somehow. Your awe was cut off by a voice.
“Mr (L/N)?” They ask, you turn around to a woman with a mic, not a reporter but the woman managing the seating.
“I’m glad you made it safe, if it’s okay with you, you’ll be seated next to Ortega.” She said, you raised an eyebrow slightly.
“Brian Ortega? I didnt know he liked the Grammys.” You say and she chuckles.
“No no, Miss Ortega.” She said; which Just confused you even more, you shrugged.
“Uh, Sure.” You say, you began to mingle, trying to keep up appearances as some of the most influential artists Dawned your presence. Ranging from Movie directors like Spielberg, to Multi Grammy winners like Canadas own, Aubrey Graham, better known as Drake. Ten minutes to countdown you reach your seat and relax. Everyone begins to get ready, and your train of though was on what you would say if you would, could possibly win a Grammy.
“Hey.” A Voice draws your attention and you turn to face it, and your eyes laid upon someone that made the world grind to a halt, all you could see were those beautiful eyes, soft skin and a smile that could make the darkest moments in your life shine like a supernova. and it finally dawned on you, you’re Sitting next to, Jenna Ortega. You remember when Iron Man 3 was released in Theaters, and the Vice Presidents daughter that Tony had to save, that was her! And stuck in the middle! It took moments for you to realize the impact She actually had on you.
“O-oh! Hi!” You day, your voice cracking slightly as you try not to get lost in her eyes. She offers a slight handshake and you take it, not really able to speak.
“Jenna.” She says.
“Y-yeah I’ve seen a lot of your movies I—“ you begin, but stop trying not to sound like a fanboy in front of her. She genuinely smiles at her.
“Thanks. I don’t mean to pry but you are working on more music right? With that much talent you can’t stop right?” She says and you nod.
“Anything for you.” You thought, “Shit that’s creepy why did I say that?! JUST BE COOL.” You think and nod.
“Yeah, didnt think I’d get this far, nice to meet someone my age, makes me less anxious.
“I know, feels kind heavy, doesn’t it?” She says, “All these celebs, kinda feels weird being here.” She says awkwardly. And you build up the courage to utter one sentence.
“It should, you deserve to be here.” You say, it actually catches her off guard and she can only smile and say “Thanks.”, genuinely. You two hush as the ceremony begins. It was fairly uneventful, besides You and Tyler the Creator tweeting memes at each other, before the first set of awards were given, and one of the main four was presented. Best New Artist of the Year, it was heavily contested, Alaina Castillo, Summer Walker, Normani, Giveon. You definitely wanted Giveon, Heartbreak anniversary was your jam. As Keke Palmer took the stage she has the envelope and smiles.
“Good luck.” You hear Jenna say from the side and, that boosts your confidence to levels you couldn’t imagine.
“And the Grammy for Best New Artist goes to… Your Very own! (Y/n) (L/n)!” She says and the crowd explodes, the look of shock was on your face, you rose up being congratulated by many, Jenna claps for you as you approach the stage, still stunned. You take the Grammy with a look of sheer luck and disbelief, you stand there at the Mic and just stand there for a moment.
“Uh- Sorry i had no idea I was gonna be here.” You say and they laugh, you shrug it off.
“Well, I suppose I should say something.. first thing is, well it’s been a crazy year, I went from barley making college payments to buying my parents a new house, cars, anything they could ever want and, it’s all thanks to you all.” Your anxiety was soon filled with sadness and cheers began to bellow.
“You all don’t know how much this means to me, thank you. And, god bless you all.” You raise the Grammy to a rousing applause, you return back to your seat and wipe a few tears. But a tissue was handed to you, but none other than Jenna. You two share a smile and keep the Ceremony going, but I hope you didn’t expect just one.
“Song of The Year! Album of The Year! Record of the Year!” After the third one you hear the song play as you head up with the last one and you take it, and you turn to everyone awkwardly.
“Okay i didnt expect to be up here four times.” You say to more laughter, you try to keep it short and sweet. “Seriously this is becoming a bad trend, I’m just some kid from nowhere, and you all believed in me, and I’m so glad you put your trust in me, in us. My team, my family, my fans, these are all for you.” You hold up the fourth Grammy and as usual it was arousing applause.
Nearing the End of the celebration you walk out of the Grammys with Four, FOUR; in your first appearance there. Two under your arms and to in your hands. You attempt to show them all laughing. But before you can continue you turn around to Jeanna who’s taking pictures of her own and motion her over, to take pictures with you, she rolls her eyes sarcastically as the anxiety and fear washed away to golden confidence. You both pose for the pictures and they flash so desperate for a header and they got one.
“(Y/n) (L/n) and Jenna Ortega? What could this mean for the two blossoming stars?”

ooc. Okay fuck it I'm brain rotting rn over avenpo, idk if this shows up in the tag but this is a song for them.
Specifically the 2020 Grammy's performance of Tyler the Creator's Earfquake/New Magic Wand
It goes from soft melodic tunes, which is Sampo and Aventurine's fun times together. Where they can scheme and fool those around them over the prejudice placed upon them.
(Aventurine being an Avgin and Sampo being a Masked Fool).
But also them slowly finding how they're both slowly finding each other more attractive, better company than those around them. Maybe even a spark of friendship.
Then the visceral notes hit, Sampo learning what he wants from this (a relationship) but being unsure if Aventurine wants the same. So he keeps taunting him. Pushing him into saying what he wants. Aventurine, being the man used to being used, he assumes if he doesn't give Sampo the right answer he'll leave.
Sampo even said so, he threatened him with it.
But that same visceral hate of not getting that answer upsets Sampo. He knows logically why Aventurine isn't reacting well but can't seem to get it. Why can't he just say it?
And it's a back and forth between them between wanting it and fearing it.
The ending is well, obviously an allegory for Aventurine's "death" and poor Sampo having to deal with it.
Or both of their fears of this relationship "dying" (either by Sampo abandoning Ven or Aventurine only seeing Sampo as a toy and dropping him once that novelty wears off).
It's a messy post I know but ugha! I'm sick! I'm physically sick! I have a cold!

Idk if you know this but Tyler the creator retweeted a tweet that said he never would win a Grammy and said
“ I WAITED X YEARS TO RETWEET THIS. LOOK AT ME NOW BITXH”
Like in my head, Chris does something similar. Like idk someone tweeted out
“I don’t know what Chris evans is thinking, but he is just a fling. Pe!reader would never marry him and DEFINITELY won’t make kids with him.”
And then the day they announce pe!reader is pregnant, he retweets it
THAT WOULD BE SO ICONIC!
and it’s a tweet from 2015 and chris quote tweets it with:
“What doesn’t kill us…”

I'm glad people are making those posts about rap music mainly because I've seen this shit happen a lot. I fucking hate those weak ass [no rap] versions of songs. It's happened to everyone from Gorillaz to Imagine Dragons to Kendrick, oddly enough. Remember "Bad Blood"? Hell, the Grammys aren't any better; they gave a rap award to Tyler the Creator for IGOR, which wasn't really rap.
This isn't exclusive to basic people; I've seen gamers and weebs say some bigoted shit about black music even when Persona 5, one of the most popular RPGs in years has a mostly acid jazz sound and Sonic has had jungle and Michael Jackson influenced music.
Maybe some of them will at the very least try to hear other music.
I think “Not Like Us” having the runaway success it’s having and Lamar shooting into the stratosphere and crushing Drake’s records at the speed of light is going to break barriers just like MJ and Prince did back in the day. Like this feels like a historic moment in music
