Newsie: Two-Tone
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Two-Tone's most interesting feature is his vest. It's maroon on the front and a lighter shade on the back. A considerable part of the vest's back spills over the front which gives it a distinctive two tone look. As for his shirt, it’s tinged with purple (he didn't seperate his whites when using the washboard).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
His hair is curly brown. (One of two Newsies hairstyle options of 1899, the other being the bowl cut.) Since hats are a major Newsies hair concern, Two-Tone overcomes this by forgoing the hat altogether.

He and Chewy are "gum bros". They go through 6 to 8 packs of chewing gum each day to keep their jawlines chiseled.

When Weasel's goons arrive, Two-Tone believes it's better to die than to crawl
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
because it takes less effort to stand or to fall.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Before arriving at the final rally, Two-Tone had gotten his hands on some maroon dye and fixed the design flaw of his two-tone vest by making it all a single colour. Consequently, getting rid of the only thing that makes him interesting. (Look at Tumbler being spun around at the front.)
Tumblr media
He celebrates the strike's end in his own unique way by grabbing a Newsie's hand with two of his own and spinning it around.

It's called "plus size" because it's a plus when a girl is that size!

The Specials - The Specials
What a wonderful relaxing danceable album. Just about perfect for any situation and one that I’ve been a fan of for a loooong ass time. Absolute classic. People try and make a big deal about ska as this cringe thing, but if you ask me every genre has its cringe bands / albums and it’s great bands / albums. Metal heads try to avoid this but there are a lot of awful awful horribly cringe and embarrassing metal bands that have some cultural sway in the metal scene. Ska is the same!! This is definitely one of the good albums.
The whole thing is so perfectly constructed. The bass is the star of the show as far as I can. It’s tone is perfect and it adds this wonderful bouncy vibe to the whole thing. On top of that the guitars are that perfect staccato up stroke chords. Great singing and overall performance. The drummer is doing exactly what the song needs and nothing more. The organ playing is fun and dynamic. No individual element of the band is trying to steal or over perform it’s just this really wonderful understated vibe. Fucking amazing. If you haven’t check this out DO!

The Specials - Ghost Town (This is one of the towering achievements of the genre. Despite Ska's cheery reputation, this cut is soaked in dread. One of the best bands of the 70s UK, which is saying a lot.) The Selecter - Three Minute Hero (Some bouncy, frantic dance music with a raspy, energetic frontwoman. I always preferred organs to horns in Ska.)
Kontraritam - Zozo Vrati Se (This isn't really 2-tone, given these guys were Yugoslavian, but it's the same sound and timeframe. Yugo New Wave is so underrated.) Elvis Costello - The Imposter (Not really a Ska artist, not his best song, but I love it, damn it.)
XTC - Statue of Liberty (Ditto.)
