Adar had to die because if he, Gil-Galad and Elendil were all in Middle Earth at the same time there would have simply been too much Dad Energy ™️ for the populace to handle. They would have defeated Sauron through sheer “I’m not mad, I’m just disappointed” force alone.

The elves of middle earth having the same “call your dad when you don’t know how to fix a problem” instinct but because they live forever it’s like

Some elf starts experiencing the elven equivalent of car trouble (idk, horse won’t go?) and calls his dad, and then his dad can’t figure it out so he calls HIS dad and so on and so forth until you’ve got this guys entire lineage all huddled together in elven cargo shorts trying to solve a dented horseshoe

let it also be said that I love the Mahariel + Lavellan worldstate. It's so haunted. You are Dalish, you are not a part of human culture, but by happenstance you're dragged into it and to the forefront of hell to save a world that hates and fears your people. You have no choice. You can never return to your home, to the familiar, to anything you've ever known. You will be an echo; Mahariel echoing Garahel, Lavellan echoing Mahariel. You're so proud of your Dalish heritage, but your identity doesn't matter at all. started off as me redrawing some of my initial mairon designs and ended up going on an rpg tangent 😭 i really wish i could have done the portraits in a pixel art style to better fit the aesthetic but my canvas wasnt the right size!!! i ended up changing annatar completely (im still contemplating how much i prefer this one compared to his old one however...!) and adjusting post-numenor sauron a bit when compared to their old 2022 sketches! im probably gonna do more redraws in the months to come cause of all the stuff i wanna change when i look back to some of my old designs haha 😳

i like to think each 'form' sauron takes eventually has different mannerisms and likes/dislikes the longer he stays in them without shapeshifting into something else, but one thing they all have in common is being predisposed to nagging melkor 😎

imagine you're Maedhros, you're at least thousand years old, have survived (and took part in) several kinslayings, survived the Horrors™ and are trying to recruit a reclusive elven people to join your fight only to end up being violently humbled by said elven people's princess who happens the elven equivalent of a 13 year old at the time.

anyway i was thinking about the one time Narien meets Maedhros while he was still alive and how much of a menace she was about it (she absolutely had a crush on him but you'd have to pry that info from her cold dead hands). i did write a short story about their meeting but idk if it will ever see the light of day

thinking about boromir again

how does gondor grieve? it’s a dying country in it of itself, can anyone make the distinction between tragedies? how many men have fallen, and who buries the dead? where are the mass graves, the unmarked tombs, how many bodies lay beneath the eroded soil?

was there ever time, with the end of the world crashing down, to lay a flower on the grave of a loved one. did you mourn the men who fought for their country, or the country that fell along side them. is it easier to grieve the kingdom, or its people?

when aragorn reigns king, arwen is surrounded by death. i wonder what its like to loose an afterlife and be reminded of its contrary every day. she didn’t grow up with death like many of gondor did.

when boromir was a boy, he saw men fall. he grew up too fast, with his brother at his side, even though boromir tried to shield him by standing in front. all he knew was war. all he wanted was to end it.

he left everything behind to go on a journey so far from home with a slim, almost none, chance of success. to fight side by side with your begrudgingly rightful king, with a wizard, with an immortal elf seemingly untouchable. with the hobbit who’s entrusted with a power you perceive to be the solution to your problems.

it’s a wonder he wasn’t more resentful. the fellowship was full with things he was envious of. the hobbits easy life must have come as a shock, and i wonder if that’s why he wanted to protect them. meet people untouched by war, who have never fought nor gone hungry. he did not hate them for what they had, but wanted to protect them from the harsh reality he grew up with.

boromir is so inherently good it hurts. this man deserved to see the world he fought so hard for. his body lies so far yet so close from his homeland, from his brother. his final resting place is unfamiliar. he never got to go back home.

references from celebrimbor's life ( a memory that disguise itself as a vision ) :

1. maedhros and maglor, portrayed in a depiction most commonly seen of the brothers within fanworks.

2. horses and huan. celebrimbor confront his father before curufin move forward on his hunt for the silmarillis and luthien. huan was present with celegorm.

3. miriel, celebrimbor's great grandmother. she was known for her weaving and needlework.

easter eggs aside; i truly believe in the narrative sense, that the visuals presented here belongs to celebrimbor and suppose to mirror the life he had experienced and the Feast of Reuniting. perhaps a hidden desire within him that he wishes to keep his family under a different light. not as a kinslayer but as a creator and an artists.
