Danny is "in denial" about the Waynes being vigilantes

Danny is really grateful for the Waynes taking him in and all but it’s just… it’s really obvious they’re vigilantes. Do they WANT him to find out? Why?? To join their battalion?

Hell nah. He’s already got enough going on trying to keep in check the many shades in the city.

Danny simply pretends to be oblivious about the Waynes being vigilantes. That's a future Danny problem.

It turns into Kyle levels of denial, where he ends up pretending he thinks the vigilantes are actors hired by the city to cover up all the ghosts haunting Gotham.

And obviously, the city bases them on the infamously growing Wayne family. It's so sweet of the Waynes to volunteer to dress up as their character for public appearances.

Meanwhile, Bruce has banned outright telling Danny even though it's been nearly a year of him living with them. So what if Danny glows sometimes and has full conversations with invisible people in dark alleyways, everyone has their quirks! so, the Batkids have resolved to just "accidentally" leave their mask on after patrol or make tactical plans loudly about taking down Penguin's latest scheme with Danny a room over.

“Is Dick coming to the Gala?” Danny asked as his head swiveled between his phone and the mirror as he attempted to tie his own tie. How did his mom always make it look so easy?

“No, he is going out as Batman tonight, since Father is unable to.” Damian responded. He may as well be blasé about their identities, seeing as Fenton was obviously both completely aware of their identities and completely in denial.

“Oh, man. Does that mean one of the “rouges” are going to attack the gala?” Danny asked, “It’s probably going to be that Two-face guy, huh? He hasn’t made an appearance in a while and his character arc with “Brucie” hasn’t made any progress in a while.”

“Nonsense, there is no predicting the mindset of a criminal like Two-face.” Damian ignored Danny’s disbelieving scoff as he maneuvered his newest brother to face him so he could take over the task for him, else they would be standing there all night. “Besides, Drake is in charge of security for the gala and will do an adequate job securing the venue. If you are afraid remain by my side where I can protect you.”

Damian tightened the tie around Danny's neck and stepped back to let Fenton pull his own collar down.

"That's very sweet of you, Dami." Danny reached up a hand and mussed up Damian's newly-gelled hair, garnering a growl and a shove from the boy. "But you should do normal kid things during the gala, like accidentally saying rude things to old ladies, or complaining about how bored you are, and don't forget to prank all the evil billionaires."

The “I told you so.” Danny brazenly mouthed to Damian later in the evening from where Two-face held a gun to his head was as infuriating as it was distressing.

"Are the Robins child soldiers" It depends. If the story is super serious and into exploring complex morality and grounded from reality's standards, then yes. If the story is lighthearted, made for children, fluff, etc., then no. If it's somewhere in the middle, it might depend.

If an author wants to write a story seriously delving into the fucked up-ness of children fighting criminals, they can, and if you don't like it, you can read something else.

If an author wants to write a fun story about villains and heroes featuring Robin in a world where that's not an issue, they can, and if you don't like it, you can read something else.

If an author wants to write a serious story but not apply IRL-logic to Robin, they can, and if you don't like it, you can read something else.

Tap. Tap. Clink. Harvey flipped his coin in his right hand while he tapped his left fingers on his mahogany desk. His pointer fingernail just slightly jagged from when he chewed it off from how nervous he felt from the proximity of the apple of his eye, (your name).

She had only been on his payroll for a few months, yet she had somehow warmed her way into his cold heart. Harvey was still unsure on how this progression had even began…

Perhaps it was how her smile melted the walls he had so carefully placed around himself? Or the way her (eye color) eyes never looked away from his midwinter gaze.

The pretty secretary diligently typed away on her keyboard at her desk. Unaware of her boss’s intense interest in her.

(Your name) always knew her boss was rather… eccentric ever since the accident. She had been his secretary back when he was district attorney and since he had became a crime boss, he asked for her to return to her secretarial duties.

(Your name) obeyed since she knew he was completely unstable yet she saw so many glimpses of the man he used to be as she sat in his new office with him. At times, it felt like she was with good ol’ Harvey… other times, she dealt with the beast.

Two Face was flirtatious with her when he was the personality that was forefront. And he was a bit aggressive with his advances at times… but she couldn’t find it in herself to leave. Not when Harvey desperately clung to the past.

The slimmer of dusk streamed over his mangled face from the slightly opened curtains on the window window. Moments like this always made him seem almost like another man. Someone with an aetherium glow under the slivers of sunlight, his eyes half-lidded as the sun brought out the beauty of the right side of his face. The pink and orange hues reminded her of the Greek god Apollo, the nickname he once had when he was still District Attorney. The days he walked in the sun either his head held high…

But as the shadows dance over his brow when the sun sank itself further down in the distance, the scarred half of his face is transformed into something monstrous and twisted like the gnarled branches of an old tree. No longer the dashing Apollo, but rather a form of the intimidating Hades.

A small part of (Your name) found his dual appearance rather attractive in a way. He was handsome like a car crash. Destructive yet she couldn’t tear her eyes away. Harvey was both Heaven and Hell. The stars and the moon… he was more than his scars and his contrasting nature. Not that she’d ever voice her tidbit of admiration for him. (Your name) feared it would go to his head.

(Your name) was unaware of the storm of lust that brewed within Harvey. Of the way his midwinter sky eyes studied her in the way a predator stalked its prey. She was on his menu… and he would stop at nothing to devour her.

Harvey wanted to consume her. To sink his teeth in her flesh so hard, he left a mark. He wanted to drink (your name)‘s blood until she was dizzy, until she didn’t know where he ended and she began. Harvey wanted to tear her open with his hands so he could crawl inside her ribcage and finally feel like he belonged. He wanted to wrap his hands around her heart and gulp it down before anyone else could try to take it. But he won't—not yet. For now, Harvey would admire her from his position at his half organized and half messy desk. He would pretend that observation from afar would work.

“(Your name)?”

“Yes, sir?” (Your name) smiled at Harvey who returned the smile faintly.

“Please don’t leave me.”

If (your name) would gaze into those piercing blue eyes, she’d see the storm of obsession and love brewing beneath them. Yet she just gave him a soft smile in return.

“I won’t, sir.” She then went back to work as her boss sighed dreamily.

Harvey’s smile soon stretched into a twisted smile. She wouldn’t leave… then maybe it was time to make a move after all?

Harvey was a man lost in madness and darkness, therefore his love would be as well. He knew his love would be intense and twisted like the labyrinth of his mind. Yet he couldn’t help but yearn for love and acceptance.

(Your name) was the only one to show even a hint of either toward him and he lapped at the crumbs of her affection like a man starved of a proper meal for weeks.

Yet she had been kind to him. She had been his savior and his light at the end of his dark tunnel of eternal damnation. Harvey wanted to worship her! To kiss every inch of her skin and whisper words of reverence into her skin until it was permanently etched into her mind like it was his! To lock her away like a dragon did with a beautiful princess in a tower so no one else could harm a hair on her head.

Yet that other half didn’t want that, no… Two Face wanted to ruin her. To sink his fingers until there were petals of purples, blues, and yellows blossomed on her skin. To tear her apart bit by bit with his teeth and then piece her back together in his ideal image of complete submission. Like how Victor Frankenstein created the bride for his monster, except Two Face would be both her creator and other half.

If there was such thing as the red string of fate, he would cut hers and permanently tie her to himself so she could never run from him.

Harvey and Two Face would be bother her protector and the beast that she feared under her bed at night. They were both love and limerence. Both infatuation and unbridled obsession. Two being that tethered on a delicate balance in the single body they shared yet they had one common goal now… to have her.

And they would stop at nothing until she was theirs. Even if he had to isolate her from everything and everyone, he would have her… his inamorata.

I can imagine Clora reading the "Final Problem" where Sherlock "DIES" and being depressed for like a month and sending hate mail to Conan Doyle while Sebastian tries to cheer her up.

So you're a go to source for all things Dick&Tim bros and you tend to write primarily from Dick's POV. So, odd question, but if you were to summarize their relationship from his POV in FIVE panels which panels would you pick? Keeping in mind that one specific aspect of their relationship that you love needs to be clearly represented by each panel (loyalty, trust etc). This was such a kind ask & a cool challenge which I totally failed; here are TWENTY-five panels of Dick's POV on Tim sdfdsfds Look, I got carried away! Marcia and Cindy! The boys!!

OKAY SO BEFORE I GET TO THE PANELS A FEW NOTES:

WARNING THAT THERE ARE SOME NEGATIVE EMOTIONS IN HERE because I love conflict but but but you gotta remember those are not the final word!! They are complicated people and sometimes they get mad at each other BUT ultimately their relationship is so hugely important in both their lives & they love each other and rely on each other so much -!!! <3

Also I have CONCLUDING THOUGHTS at the end about what Dick's POV leaves out (mostly: a lot of Dick defending & protecting & supporting Tim, which Dick does instinctively but isn't very self-aware about most of the time)

Final rambling thoughts:

TIM: Uhh, okay, so I'm just skimming this list - do you really trust me? you're not just saying that? - but anyway, I'm confused because you left some stuff out? Like some stuff that's kinda important? DICK: No? I think I got everything? TIM (starts counting on his fingers): The time I was having a bad day but then I called you. The time I got captured by Two-Face but then you saved me. The time I fell off a train but then you saved me. The time I fell off a building but then you saved me. The time I fell off a different building - DICK: I feel like you're trying to make some kind of point but I'm not sure what it could be.

SO THE THING IS, I put 25 panels in here and not a single one has Dick catching Tim when he’s falling!!! But I think that's a central motif of their relationship from Tim’s POV, not Dick’s. I love Dick, but in some ways I think he is spectacularly un-self-aware.

And I think he especially has a lot of blind spots about Tim. He kinda intermittently gets that Tim admires him, and he enjoys it in a playful I-get-to-boss-you-around way. But Dick tends to consistently underestimate all of his own good qualities & skills, and he meets Tim at a point in his life when he's especially down on himself & his abilities. And so he's unable to see his own influence on Tim, & therefore unable to fully understand a lot of Tim's priorities and loyalties and motivations, because you can't actually understand Tim without understanding Dick's impact on him. There's a fascinating moment in Bruce Wayne: Murderer when Dick's completely blindsided & upset to discover that Tim doesn't entirely trust Bruce, even though this has been a definitive fact of Tim's whole thing ever since he showed up with his Batman needs Robin theory, and Barbara has to actively remind Dick of the obvious-to-everyone-except-Dick fact that a lot of Tim's loyalty is to Dick, and Tim loves Bruce but feels free to be more wary of him. (And to give Bruce credit: this is not something he ever begrudges.) But anyway Babs points this out, and Dick manages to sorta process it for about five seconds, but he cannot actually accept it into his worldview so instead he discards it at the speed of light and goes off and has an argument with Tim instead sdfsfdsf

All of Dick's virtues - Dick's kindness at the circus and Dick's determination to fight through grief and Dick's rigid sense of morals and Dick's vigilante skills and every time Dick has ever backed Tim up or listened to him or protected him or saved him from something or just been casually kind to a stranger in Tim's presence etc etc etc - all these things loom really large in Tim's mental story of Who Dick Is, and What Dick And Tim's Relationship Is. Tim meets Dick before he meets Bruce, trusts Dick more than Bruce, aspires to be Robin instead of Batman. And so in Tim's default version of the story, Dick is the super-special and admirable hero and Tim is... nobody in particular, a tagalong outsider who's barely managing to be a hero, not part of Dick and Bruce's family and not part of their story, who, if he's VERY LUCKY and tries REALLY HARD, might be able to fight his way to proving himself and offering something to Dick that Dick will value, if Dick doesn't get fed up with him first.

But that's not Dick's version of the story!!!

Dick's version of the story is almost the exact opposite, a story where Dick's an outcast failure black sheep who's screwing up everything he tries, and meanwhile Tim is The Sudden New Perfect Robin Who's Better Than Me And Probably Bruce Loves Him More And Probably They Gossip About What A Loser I Am, mixed with a complicated edge of Tim Thinks He's So Smart But He Doesn't Know Me/Us At All. Dick gets much more attached to Tim over time, and Tim gets unnervingly better at the know-it-all psychoanalysis so then Dick gets to have complicated feelings about him being right instead of just annoyance at him for being wrong, plus Dick's relationship with Bruce improves a lot, so Tim stops feeling so threatening. But Dick never fundamentally changes his basic theory of their relationship in which Tim is highly impressive and capable, and Dick is not so much.

And so asking Dick about Tim is kinda like if you asked George Bailey to tell you about Harry Bailey in It's A Wonderful Life; like, you'll be there for five hours while he tells you how great Harry is, and how accomplished Harry is, and how he doesn't really get how or why Harry does the things he does, and maybe George does feel a little resentful or jealous sometimes, but that pales in comparison to all his admiration and trust for Harry who he loves so much, who's better than him in so many ways, and he's not gonna openly gripe but secretly he can't help but feel sometimes like he's such a failure in comparison to Harry, a perfect person who emerged fully formed from Zeus's head with all the virtues and also all the accomplishments, etc. etc. etc. --

-- and he will not actually remember the part where he changed and saved Harry's whole entire life unless you literally send him to an alternate timeline in order to force him to remember it. <3

The older of the two look like he’d taken A beating, the younger of the two hyper focused on the hallway looking back and forth as if expecting someone to jump out at them.

If she can willingly jump of a roof, she most certainly could get two teens inside. They had too much to discuss.

No. A folder of info just won’t do. Come on in. Tell me everything. Secret government agency? Go on please. Just make yourselves comfortable. Portal to the afterlife?? Please more info. Need anything to eat?

She got her answers, a story, and well if two kept hanging around. That was for her to worry about.

I see a lot of people upset about William Kaplan being dead and no one mourning him cus Billy stole his body and I just don't see it that way. The kid in Wanda Vision is Billy Maximoff, The teenager at the Bar Mitzvah is William Kaplan, the Teen that got taken to the hospital after the wreck is neither and both Billy Maximoff and William Kaplan. That Teen went home with the abilities of Billy Maximoff, to the home of William Kaplan, with memories of neither and lived there for three years. He cares about Rebecca and Jeff, he lied to the to protect them from pain, they are his parents. He wants to find Tommy, he has magical powers, he wants to know who he is. All of these things are true. I wouldn't say William Kaplan is dead he just doesn't remember, like Agatha wasn't dead when he was Agnes, she just didn't remember.

His behavior was problematic but never once portrayed as romantic at the same time. Katsuki said and did awful abusive things, and he also chose to be better when he was given the chance. If you’re still hung up on chapter 1 Katsuki now then I don’t think you’ve been reading the same story I have.

I can’t speak for everyone, but I’m not shipping Izuku with an irredeemable abuser. I’m shipping him with his most important person. His narrative foil. His childhood friend who made awful mistakes and then made it right when he saw he was wrong. The person Izuku looks up to and strives to emulate, despite their past struggles.

Bakudeku is so good because of how flawed these boys are, and how hard they’ve worked to get over it, and how much they matter to each other after it all
