Italy Yacht Charter Guide
Italy offers art, food and fine wine in spades, but there is so much more to see in this beautiful country, particularly when sailing along the stunning Italian coastline. Travelling the Amalfi coast by luxury yacht offers picturesque coves, clear waters, and incomparable views of the region’s landscape and charming harbors, such as the colorful Positano.
The nearby island of Capri is a shopper’s paradise, and for indulgent relaxation, Ischia’s thermal spas are unmatched. Beyond the Amalfi, discover the rugged Sicilian coastline, the chain of islands in the Tuscan archipelago, the volcanic Aeolian Isles, picturesque Sicily and the jewel of the Italian Rivieria, the Cinque Terre.
According to mythology, the Tuscan isles - Elba, Gorgona, Capraia, Giannutri, Giglio, Montecristo, and Pianosa – were formed when Venus rose from the waters and dropped seven pearls from her necklace into the sea. Since obtaining protected status in 1986, the marine life in the archipelago’s national park has flourished, making this an unmissable sailing destination
Sardinia is a true yachting haven, with intense, turquoise waters renowned for their sparkling clarity. Boasting a plethora of secluded coves, gleaming white beaches, gorgeous coastal villages, and rugged scenery, this is an island best discovered from the water.
As you approach the large island of Sicily by sea, your view is dominated by the imposing Mount Etna, the largest active volcano in Europe. Sailing north of the island into the Tyrrhenian sea brings you to the Aeolian archipelago.
Consisting of seven main islands and a host of smaller islets, the volcanic Aeolian archipelago takes its name from Aeolus, the Greek god of the wind. Named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2000, this diverse region has a stark volcanic beauty. Active volcanoes with smoking craters, thermal pools, towering rock formations, and black sand beaches make for a unique Italian island-hopping experience.

Heyyia Claude! 🥰
Ho bisogno de tu ayuda con una mia fic...Qual è per te la città più romantica della Toscana? E che tipo di attività possiamo fare allí?
Better ask first someone native then go look in articles or something...Seems more legit that way! :D
[Ignore the obvious Spanish I left there... 🤭]
Ciao! 🥰
Coucou, Red! Merci de ton patience 🩷 et pour ton ask!
I'm going to answer in English, maybe it can be useful for other people as well! I'm always happy to talk about my region, i love it so much, so thank you again for asking my recs!
I think it depends a lot on the vibes that you are looking for. I will give you an overview of different options, i hope that they can be inspiring. If there's something you like, i can go more into detail! Let me know if i can be of help with anything!
তততততততততততততততততততততততত
If you and your characters love art, Florence is an amazing city.
(Duomo di Firenze, Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore, credits pic)
Its art, history and architecture are extraordinary. The Uffizi Gallery (Galleria degli Uffizi) is an absolute must if you love Renaissance. A great way to admire Botticelli, Raffaello, Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and Tiziano's art, in one museum.
Moreover, you can walk around Cathedral Square (Piazza del Duomo), where you can see the Cathedral built by Brunelleschi, Giotto's Campanile and the Baptistery, and Piazza della Signoria, where you can find Palazzo Vecchio, David by Michelangelo and Loggia dei Lanzi, and admire their masterpieces for free. 🏛️
You could also visit the Boboli Gardens, where you can enjoy the Italian garden style, created by the Medici family, that became a model for many European courts.
And a night at the theatre could be a great idea for a date! At Teatro Verdi, for example, there's plenty of different shows!
Obviously, these are just some ideas.
By the way, if i have to be honest, i love Florence, and i always gaze in awe at the beauty of its monuments ...but it's also a little chaotic for my taste. Sooo, maybe for a romantic getaway I would choose something else. (It depends on what you like!)
(Boboli Gardens, credits pic)
তততততততততততততততততততততততত
For something more adventurous, what about Grotta del Vento? It's a beautiful system of caves in the Apuan Alps (Garfagnana), with stalactites and stalagmites. Its karst environment is unique and fascinating. 🦇
(credits pic)
তততততততততততততততততততততততত
A Tuscanian city that I love is Lucca.
I adore walking along the old city walls (you can go there by bike too!): a panoramic walkway overlooking the city that conceals secret passages, hideaways and ramparts. Their secular trees make the view magic in every season. In autumn, foliage is beautiful! 🍂
(credits pic)
তততততততততততততততততততততততত
If you and your characters love the sea and the story is set in summer, you could take into consideration a mini cruise in the Tuscan Archipelago. In one or two days, you can explore some of its islands, like Giglio, Elba, Giannutri. Swimming there is beautiful. If you don't like the idea of spending time on a boat, the coasts of Monte Argentario are wonderful too! 🌊
(Isola del Giglio, credits pic)
তততততততততততততততততততততততত
There could be less activities than in bigger cities, but I think you could also go for a romantic getaway in one (or more) of our hill towns. Great view, amazing food, and an enchanting experience! And it feels more intimate than in the main cities. Monteriggioni, Cortona, Pienza, San Gimignano, Volterra... The atmosphere is so poetic...And you can spend some time in the surrounding countryside, idyllic!
(Eremo Le Celle, Cortona, credits pic)
তততততততততততততততততততততততত
For a lovey-dovey day, you could write about a day at the thermal springs! There's plenty of thermal baths in Tuscany, and there are usually hotels and spas where you can have lunch, sleep, have a couples massage and enjoy the hot springs. Rapolano, Sassetta, Sorano, Montecatini,... In Tuscany you can find lots of thermal springs, so you could also have a day at the thermal baths and one in a nearby town.
(Terme di Sassetta, credits pic)
তততততততততততততততততততততততত
Wherever your characters go, I think food play a big role if you want them to enjoy their Tuscan trip to the full.
Pasta is always delicious. There are lots of different types of pasta, for example pici and pappardelle (long pasta), tortelli (filled pasta, the filling depending on where you are: for example in Maremma they are filled with ricotta and spinach, in Mugello they are filled with potatoes), topini (small lumps of dough made with potatoes, flour and eggs). Pasta is our first course, in Italy it's not served as a side dish for meat or fish.
(Warning: I'm going to talk about meat dishes. If this makes you uncomfortable, skip until 🌱)
Pasta may be served with ragù (Bolognese sauce, a meat-based sauce), ragù and aglione (aglione is a delicate type of garlic), melted butter and sage, mushrooms, or tomato sauce. 🍝
(Pappardelle al ragù, credits pic)
Before pasta, as an appetizer, you may have cured meats (salame, prosciutto, finocchiona, lardo di Colonnata,...), cheese (various types of pecorino), coccoli (lumps of fried dough) and crostini (slices of bread served with ragù, mushrooms, fegatini which is a sauce made of chicken liver, or other sauces...).
(Traditional Antipasto Toscano - Tuscan appetizers, credits pic)
I don't live by the sea, so i know meat dishes better 😅 As second course, a Bistecca alla Fiorentina or a Tagliata di Manzo (beefsteaks - rare is the perfect way to have them but i get it that it's not to everyone's taste) may be perfect. 🥩
(I also enjoy pizza so much, and you can eat it everywhere in Tuscany, but the foods i've written about are more traditional)
🌱
If your characters enjoy drinking, Tuscany is famous for its wines (like Chianti Classico, Morellino di Scansano, Vernaccia di San Gimignano, Brunello di Montalcino, Bolgheri Sassicaia). Desserts go well with vinsanto (a dessert wine). 🍷
For dessert, you might go for cantuccini (almond biscuits) with vinsanto (we dip them in the wine). If the story is set during Christmas holidays, ricciarelli (almond and sugar biscuits) and panforte (a dessert with almonds and candied fruits) are some of our traditional desserts.
(Cantuccini and vinsanto, credits pic)
You may have coffee after the dessert. And, after generous meals, ammazzacaffè (a small glass of liqueur) too. General recommendation for your characters (and for tourists visiting Italy): it's better not to ask for a cappuccino during lunch or dinner (please 🩷)!
তততততততততততততততততততততততত
I hope this is useful, sorry it took me some time, and please, let me know if i can help you somehow! Je suis si heureuse que tu es en train d'écrire une fanfiction qui se déroule en Toscane 🩷🩷🩷 Je te fais de gros bisous, bonne soirée et joyeuses Pâques 🌷🐰🐣

Blockchains Transformative Role In Supply Chains
Every second of every day, supply chains track an infinite variety of goods transported from millions of different places into the hands of millions of different people in every corner of the world. From the rare earth elements mined in the Gobi Desert that power your smartphone, to the sustainable seafood from small fisheries in the Indonesian Archipelago on your plate, to the rolling hills of Tuscany where carefully nurtured grapes now swirl as wine in your glass, supply chains drive economic growth, accelerate innovation, and enable a globalized world connected by our collective desire to trade.

Nothing On The Horizon : ep203
There are a million things to see and do on the Island of Corsica. Corsica is French and sits southeast of the French mainland, west of Italy, and directly north of the Italian island of Sardinia. Measuring 115 miles from north to south, Corsica is a big island. The fourth largest in the mediterranean in fact, covering 3368 square miles. Humans have been battling over control of Corsica since the stone ages. Here’s a short list of those who’ve dabbled in conquering the island:
The Carthaginians
The Romans
The Tuscans
The Vandals
The Ostrogoths
The Byzantines
The Lombards
The Republic of Pisa
The Kingdom of Aragon
The Franco-Ottomans
Barbary Pirates
The Genoans
and on and on and on and on.
Consequently, the island is rich in history from the countless Genoese castle keeps, to the Romanesque-Pisan churches, to the white and pink sand beaches, to the high alpine snow covered mountains.
You could spend a lifetime exploring Corsica.
We’re going to spend exactly zero minutes exploring Corsica.
Henrik and Captain Jean-Luc have decided that Costa Smeralda - the island archipelago along the northeastern coast of Sardinia - is more worthy of our time, so we’re essentially sailing south along the eastern coast of Corsica without stopping.
It’s a long way from Capraia to Porto Cervo in Sardinia. Around 130 miles. Under ideal conditions it is a full 24 hours of sailing from the time we pull anchor in Capraia until we find a slip at the Yacht Club Porto Cervo.
We are not sailing under ideal conditions.
It’s hot and the winds are light. The winds are forecast to be more favorable to the east, so we guide the boat southeast along the Archipelago Tuscano. We can’t even see Corsica on the horizon.
The savvy yacht salesman will assure you that a motor yacht is all about the destination, but the sailing yacht is all about the journey. But I’m here to tell you that some days on a sailboat are just long, hot and windy. To pass the time, we all take turns at the helm. The boys are stripped down to shorts only, and the girls are in bikini tops over short shorts. Everyone is ghostly white, slathered in proper zinc oxide sunscreen to keep from getting overly sunburned. We’re all drinking water rather than cocktails, lest we end up dehydrated.
Good conversation is being made, but there is a lot of time to pass, so books are read and naps are taken.
It’s fucking hot. I want so badly to ask the captain to stop the boat for five minutes so I can jump into the ocean to cool off, but the idea of swimming in pelagic water gives me the heebie-jeebies. Too many years of watching “Shark Week” on the Discovery Channel.
As the late afternoon drags on, someone spots a tiny island on the horizon. It’s the Isola di Montecristo, a small, unoccupied dot of dirt that displaces approximately one square mile of the Mediterranean sea. We convince Captain Jean-Luc to drop the sails near the deserted harbor of Cala Maestra long enough for us to cool off with a quick dip in the sea, followed by some light alfresco dining.
We enjoy the sunset while feasting on shrimp cocktail and charcuterie “a al Filet.”
Sunset is nearing and there is discussion onboard about anchoring overnight and continuing on in the morning. But we’re only about one third of the way to our destination and with the light winds the seas will be calm for overnight sailing. So it is decided that we continue on.
Captain Jean-Luc assigns the first shift to Floody and Autumn. She’s pregnant and he’s concerned that she gets proper rest. They are night owls, so it will take zero additional effort for them to sail until midnight. So it’s an easy choice for the Captain to make. Alexa will keep watch with them, and for the first hour, we’ll all wind down on deck with them and a glass of white wine.
Ever since Alexa toweled Autumn off on the swim step, they’ve been laughing and flirting and have become friendly. Alexa works damn hard as the sole steward/deckhand aboard this ship, so it’ll be nice for her to have a quiet evening on deck with a couple of new friends and a cool glass of white wine.
Cheyenne and I will take the midnight to 4am shift. Captain Jean-Luc will take the early morning hours shift from 4am through sunrise, so he’s off to bed right after dinner. There’s a warm gentle breeze blowing over the mediterranean as night falls, and the remainder of us congregate on deck under the starlight with Floody at the helm.
Beri uncorks two bottles of grand cru white burgundy (real French Chardonnay that we rarely get in the US) and serves them in stemless wine glasses. Alexa finally gets a moment to relax, puts her feet up and lets her hair down. With nothing more than the horizon on the horizon, we head south into the night.

Italian luxury yacht charters: a guide for planning a sailing vacation
It is no surprise that Italy has remained one of the most popular travel destinations in the world, given the abundance of gorgeous scenery and the rich and lively history it offers.
The cuisine is outstanding in every way. Italy is social and romantic, so your Italy yacht charter ensures a trip that will meet and exceed your expectations whether you intend to cruise with friends, family, or your significant other.
Yacht Charter in Italy
Sailing in Italy is among the best on the Mediterranean coastline. Finding a berth during the summer might be difficult due to the absence of natural harbours and the scarcity of spaces in manufactured marinas. Yet, the rewards on an Italy yacht charter will be well worth the effort with careful planning, a few basic Italian phrases, and a little tolerance and understanding.
Most yachters consider the wait worthwhile when the sun is shining, and there is a warm, constant breeze. The variety of landscapes, the fantastic weather, the crystal-clear water, and the Italian food and wine all help to make up for the lack of wind.
Amalfi Coast
The Isle of Capri is serenely situated off the Sorrento peninsula on the southern edge. Many breathtaking bays are excellent for anchoring in calm weather, and its harbour is renowned for its vibrantly coloured buildings. Yachts can visit the stunning Pontine Islands to the north of the port, and the Amalfi Coast beckons to the south.
Sardinia
Sardinia. With secure harbours almost evenly spaced along its coastline, the island of Sardinia boasts some of the best sailing in the world. The beaches on the east side, which are better protected, include white sand and crystal-clear water. It is a trendy vacation spot, and the “Costa Smerelda” on the island’s northeast is a playground for wealthier people. Harbours like Porto Cervo will let you remain for practically nothing in the off-season. The Maestrale is more accessible and rugged on Sardinia’s western side (Mistral).
Venice
Being afloat on a yacht holiday is a terrific way to experience this traditional Mediterranean city because Venice is surrounded by water. Not to mention, Venice is considered one of the world’s most romantic cities. Each trip on an Adriatic yacht charter must include a stop in Venice. Go down the Grand Canal in your chartered yacht. You may view attractions like the Ca’Foscari, Palazzo Grassi, Guggenheim Museum, and the Accademia Bridge from the deck of your charter yacht.
Sicily
Sicily is the largest island in the Mediterranean Sea, measuring 25,426 square kilometres. It is separated from the Italian mainland by the Strait of Messina. The Tyrrhenian Sea, the Ionian Sea, and the Strait of Sicily form its northern, eastern, and southern borders. With Luxury Yacht Charters, you can enjoy the serene view with the best itinerary on board.
Aeolian islands
The Aeolian Islands and the Aeolian Isles, named after the Wind God Aeolus, are known for their windy surroundings. However, they offer some of the safest anchorages in the Tyrrhenian and are often delightful. There are eight in total, with the final one barely more than a rock that protrudes into the ocean. A stunning light show is periodically produced by the active volcano on the island of Stromboli, where tourists can anchor.
Naples
In Castellamare di Stabia, set sail on your catamaran lease around the Amalfi Coast. Depending on when you set sail, you might head for Naples for a fun-filled evening touring the busy Via Chaia. Now is the ideal time to explore the lovely city of Naples, sample some delectable pizza, and take in the breathtaking vistas of Mount Vesuvius, which towers over the city.
Tuscan archipelago
The Tuscan Archipelago has a Mediterranean climate, and in the summer, the temperature and gentle wind are comfortable. In the Tyrrhenian Sea, the Tuscan archipelago is conveniently reachable by sailing yachts from Lazio, Toscana, or Liguria. Any of the provinces above will provide you with more than enough marines to begin your expedition.
Portofino and Cinque terre
A string of five coastal communities, each offering breathtaking water views. Compared to their more well-known sister, Portofino, these towns are more affordable and less affluent. Along this coastal path is a beautiful and prominent walk connecting the five villages called the “Via Dell’Amore” (The Way of Love).
Bottom line
So there you have it; a Yacht Charter in Italy is undoubtedly one of the Mediterranean’s most wonderful regions for your yacht vacation. The crystal-clear warm seas, excellent (yet sheltered) sailing conditions, ideal sunny climate, and beautiful landscape are all present here, paired with some of the best food and wine you’ll find anywhere. Everything is taken care of; all that is left for you to do is unwind and enjoy yourself.
