who asked for history teacher Ron? Nobody? Well, here he is anyway on this episode of "AUs that make it out the group chat" : History teacher Ron, Principal Welsh, Coach Winters, Convenience Store Owner Chuck Grant, and a new biology teacher that's really hard to say no to. Convenience Store Owner Chuck is 100% on loan from @almost-a-class-act as per usual. this turned out way longer than I originally planned.
Teenagers were entirely too curious.
Which, he figures, he might be enabling, mentally allotting them those five minutes when they’re all finding their seats to ask him their too-curious questions and not giving them any straight answers. But if they don’t ask him at the start of class they’ll just ask him at the end of class anyway. At least this way no one’s late for their next period.
With the year coming to an end, it left more time for questions. Last week, they’d been trying to guess what color he’d wear to chaperone prom (the dark blue suit in the back of his closet that he wore to Lewis’ wedding. Dick paid for the dry cleaning as a ‘thank you’ for taking his spot). The week before that, the seniors in his history class started arguing over who Ron would miss the most once they graduated. He pretended not to hear them every time they asked who his favorite was.
This week it was, once again and inexplicably so, about his love life. In all its forms. Monday was about if he wanted kids (if they’re anything like you? I’ll pass, he’d said, biting his cheek to withhold the smile at the noises of melodramatic teenage offense), Tuesday was if he had a crush (one of the boys in the class, a football player, named Jennifer Lawrence and Ron just tilted his coffee cup in his general direction in acknowledgement).
Wednesday was a bit funny, they’d asked him to weigh in on their “sexiest Presidents” debate and hoot and hollered when Ron simply said “John F. Kennedy” as he pulled up the final review for Thursday's final. Yesterday was the final itself, and today, before the seniors circled back to the classic question before they were called down to the football field for graduation practice.
If he had a wife, or a husband, or a whatever, even though they knew after a whole school year with him that he wouldn’t answer the question.
Once again, teenagers were entirely too curious.
Ron rubs a hand over his mouth. He’d spent the first twenty minutes of his prep period writing recommendation letters for some of his juniors who were getting everything ready for their fall applications. He was fairly certain if he didn’t get up and do a lap or something he would go stir crazy, though, and his underclassmen lacked a lot of the clever tact that his seniors had when it came to asking him things he wasn’t going to answer — so he was mentally preparing for that, too.
He also hadn’t eaten, and eating during his elective would result in at least five different 15-17-year-olds asking for a bite of his lunch, as if they hadn’t, in some cases, just come from their lunch period.
There’s a sandwich he picked up from Chuck’s spot on Main in the fridge in the teacher’s lounge with his name on it, literally.
He’s quick to lock the door to his room, making his way down the hall in that direction.
He hears the laughter before he sees who it is, but he recognizes Dick’s voice as the other one as he pokes his head in before stepping in entirely. Dick was the one facing the door, a grin on his face, dark blue whistle hanging from his neck, looking at the person across from him. Ron catches his attention albeit unintentionally.
“Hey, Ron,” he greets easily like usual, before his eyes once again fall on the person across from him. “Mm, you haven’t met yet, have you?”
Even if the question’s directed at the woman sitting with him, Ron already knows the answer. They haven’t, he definitely wouldn’t forget a face like that.
She turns around in the chair and Ron’s met with dark, dark eyes and a braid falling over her shoulder, wisps of brown hair brushing the sides of her face. Long lashes and dimpled cheeks, her smile’s inexplicably bright and she isn’t even flashing her teeth. She looks back at Dick with a slight roll of her eyes, a smile still prevalent.
“Principal Welsh didn’t get to that part yet,” Ron withholds a snort. He’d gotten so used to calling him Harry that hearing someone call him Principal Welsh almost felt a little weird. She rises to her feet and Ron takes her in for the few beats it takes for her to cross over to him. Pale green skirt brushing her ankles and a white blouse. He holds out his hand for her to take, and she shakes it.
“Ron Speirs, then,” he offers, and she seems to smile a little wider at that.
“Passed by your room before Principal Welsh got seized by the seniors,” she remarks. “They always that busy?”
“In June, yeah.”
“Senioritis?” There’s something behind her eyes as she says it, mischief or amusement, something like that. He just nods his assent, and she lets out a quiet hum, understanding.
“Daisy Clarke, I’m Mr. Corrigan’s replacement for the fall.”
Mr. Corrigan was an eighty-something-year-old biology teacher with thinning white hair who, according to Ron’s sophomores, repeated himself way too often and didn’t accept typed-up papers. Ron hardly knew the guy beyond the few times he came down the hall to ask him to set up his slideshows, unable to find them himself. One of the school nurses, Nurse Kegley, brought him balloons and a card to congratulate him on his retirement.
Daisy still hasn’t let go of his hand.
“Biology, then?” he asks, and Daisy nods. “U.S History and Ancient Civ.” She squeezes one last time before letting go.
He was reminded once again, of his too-curious seniors who wanted even a crumb of information about his love life. If anything, he felt like them, his eyes quickly falling to her hand in a moment of brief curiosity. Daisy looks back at Dick, and then back to him.
“Dick and I were gonna figure out what to do for lunch. I think Welsh is gonna be busy until after graduation practice, I don’t know if you wanted to come with…”
“I know a spot on Main. Good sandwiches. It’s a short walk,” He says it before he thinks to not say it, and if he weren’t standing in front of her, he might’ve pulled a face at his own misplaced impulses. He’s usually not the one to offer himself up like this, and considering the knowing look Dick shoots at him from behind Daisy, Dick knows it too.
But her face brightens and she nods, looking back at Dick.
“That sound good?” And Dick, easy-to-please as ever, agrees.
She grabs her purse from its spot on the table and Dick rises to his feet and collectively the three walk out the door. Ron looks over at her, trying to think of something to say so he doesn’t have to mull over what he’s just said for too long.
“How do you know Dick?”
Friend’s boyfriend, is what she gives him, a fond smile on her face as she talks about it. She goes over meeting him at a Labor Day party last year on her friend Ginny’s arm. How she worked at an inner-city school in Boston before coming here to teach Honors Biology. Dick put in word to Harry about her. She looks over at him when they approach the convenience store and goes Celtics fan?, to which Ron nods.
“You and Dick must argue a lot then,” She notes, to their half-baked denials, knowing full and well how “annoying” they were during playoffs season, according to Harry.
Chuck gives him a look like Dick’s when he walks in, and Ron approaches the register, hoping that she doesn’t ask him the obvious as she walks over to the counter where Chuck has a guy on sandwiches. Arched brow, but still going for the pack of cigarettes Ron asks for.
“Who’s she?” He asks, sending a look over to her, who was talking to Dick about something Ron wasn’t really honed in on.
“New biology teacher,” Ron taps his fingers against the counter. “Was looking for a lunch spot,” Chuck grins, something toothy, bordering on shit-eating as he rings up the pack.
“Always appreciate the free advertisement,” He teases, and Ron rolls his eyes.
“You’re not funny.”
“I’m a little funny.”
“No, you’re not,” Eyes narrowing at Chuck’s snickering, but he resteels his features when Daisy brushes by him to pay.
They’re quick about returning, after that — Ron reaching the end of his prep period. When Daisy realizes he didn’t get anything to eat, she’s immediately offering half of her sandwich. And Ron really doesn’t know why he agrees as though he doesn’t have his lunch waiting for him in the fridge, but he figures it might have something to do with dark eyes and pale green skirts and her apology every single time that her arm bumps against his.
Harry’s waiting in the teacher’s lounge, and Ron says goodbye, and Daisy once again squeezes his hand when she shakes it. He’s got half a sandwich that isn’t even his in his other hand, and sure as shit, when he unlocks his classroom door and lets his elective students in, a handful of them are already asking him to share.
“Maybe if you didn’t talk so much in that cafeteria you’d have time to eat.” Ron offers sarcastically, which garners a few snickers and a melodramatic whine of ‘Sir!’ from the boy in question. Ron takes a bite of it and sets it to the side for a moment to pull up his attendance roster for the period.
“Mr. Speirs?” A voice pipes up, a girl named Brienne. Ron makes a show of rolling his eyes.
“Oh God, not you again,” He doesn’t mean it and they know that, because the junior starts giggling as he marks her as present. He looks over at her. “Was that lady you were walking with with Coach Winters your girlfriend?” Ron narrows his eyes at her, rolls them, then keeps going down the list.
No doubt about it, teenagers were wholly, entirely, too curious.

Secret Santa is Coming....
Summary: Time for the Secret Santa gift exchange and Andy knows you deserve only the best gift. And who says it can’t be a gift for both of you.
Pairing: Andy Barber X Reader, Jake Jensen
Rating: Explicit
Warnings: 18+ only. Explicit language, explicit sexual content, male masturbation, female masturbation, voyeurism, Daddy kink, slight non-con
Author’s Note: A follow up to the Thanksgiving Potluck. I don’t think Andy is okay with just a one-shot with his sweet girl.
“Mr. Barber.”
Andy looked up to see you standing just inside his doorway. Your hands dropping to be held in front of you, he watched as you momentarily shifted from foot to foot. You were uneasy and that should never be how you feel around him. He dropped the affidavit he had been reading back to his desk, before rolling his shoulders, and sitting back in his chair. Something had you skittish and he wouldn’t have that.
“Yes, sweetheart.”
You bow your head at the nickname, your bashful reaction to it would never get old with him. However, he did try to use it sparingly. Waiting until you two were mostly alone, he would softly say it and watch you smile before catching yourself.
“Can I talk to you about something?” You looked at him, your brow furrowing as you waited for his response. Something was wrong. He could feel his own unease build up the longer he watched you, your fingers now fidgeting in front of you.
“Is that even a question? Of course, you can,” He gestured to the seat in front of him.
You seemed to loosen up at his response, your hands dropping the gripped hold you had them in. Turning to close the door behind you, you gave him a small hopeful smile before taking the offered seat.
He continued to sit back, despite wanting to inch closer to you. You were calmer now and he didn’t want to break you from that peace that you had regained, “What’s going on?”
You took a quick inhale before asking your question, “Are you the one leaving coffee on my desk every morning?"
The coffee. You knew about the coffee. After Thanksgiving, he hadn’t wanted to give up the feeling he felt watching you enjoy him so much. He embraced the flashes of you licking your lips after finishing his potluck offering. They would keep him busy popping up over the long holiday weekend.
Laurie had ordered in catering for their family meal. Things were starting to pick up for her at work as they entered the holiday season. Buying everything and then cooking the turkey dinner wasn’t something she was willing to take on. Instead, they had pulled the plastic containers from the takeaway bag, quickly heating them up before sitting down to the saddest Thanksgiving meal. Thoughts of you were the only thing that pulled him out his funk to start pulling down Christmas decorations from the attic.
He decided that weekend that he would find a way to share that with you again. Your friend may have thrown out that thinly veiled threat, but he would find a way around it. Returning to the office after the holiday, he decided to keep his ritual to his nightly shower. No more parking garage camera feed for your noisy friend to make noise about. He found if he worked late enough, by the time he got home, there would be no one up to ask why he took a tumbler with him to shower.
Filling up his trusty tumbler every night, he would grab it from the refrigerator each morning as he waved goodbye to a wife and son who seemed to be more enthralled with their phones than anything he was doing. Heading to the local coffee shop after his morning swim, he would sit in his car adding his special ingredient to the small light roast brew with double espresso shots and half and half.
Making sure to get in as early as possible, he would leave the cup of coffee on your desk before hustling to his office. He had done so for the last week, a smirk lighting up his face when you brought the cup to the weekly team debrief for the latest cases. But now you knew it was him. He should have known you would figure it out.
Trying his best to not react to your question, he pulled on all his skills to keep the best poker face. He could come up with a reason for it that wouldn’t return you to that ball of nerves that had stood in his doorway.
He cleared his throat before responding, “You caught me. I know the late nights you have been putting in. That can’t be easy to do and then only to go home and help your parents. Figured you might need something to look forward to.”
You hummed at his explanation, looking down before returning your gaze to him, “That’s very kind, Mr. Barber. Sweet even. It’s just…people like to talk. I’ve worked so hard. And I don’t want anyone to think that I got anything because of…because of anything else other than work.”
Your eyes had continued to flit between him and your hands in your lap as you spoke. He could tell that you had thought through your small speech, probably even prepped yourself on your drive in. He also knew that one of the office gossips had gotten to you. He was selfish and he wanted the moments with you but not at the risk of you feeling uncomfortable.
Leaning against the desk, he looked at you straight on, expressing as much empathy as possible, “Understood. No more coffees.”
Your shoulders finally came down from around your ears and you sighed, nodding back in thanks.
“Thank you, Mr. Barber,” you replied before rising to walk towards his office door. He wanted to correct you. Remind you to call him Andy. However, he figured it was best not to push his luck. Watching you push the wrinkles from your skirt as you walked away, he called back to you, “I don’t want you worrying about this or what anyone may say, okay?”
Stopping to look over your shoulder, you reached to grab at your necklace, “I won’t.”
“Promise me?” He smirked as you continued to twiddle with the gold chain.
“I promise,” you answered as he nodded for you to leave.
With the click of his door closing, he looked down at his desk, saving your promise to his memory. He’ll use it later tonight.
Holding the slip of paper in his hands, your name neatly scrawled across it, he smiled to himself. A couple of people in the office decided to put together a Secret Santa exchange. Apparently, the Thanksgiving potluck was such a success when it came to team building, the higher ups agreed to the next holiday activity. Even had HR sign off on it.
Andy had been in court when the bag of names had been passed around. He didn’t give it much thought. Since your stop in his office a week ago, he had kept his distance. It wasn’t something that he wanted in the slightest. But he was willing to respect your genuine worry about office gossip. No more tumblers, no more early coffee runs. The research requests still happened but always through the weekly team huddle.
However, now seeing your name chosen for him, he had to smile to himself. Of course, it would be you that he would get. Of course, him trying to keep his distance would mean you finding a way back to him.
He sat down, leaning his chin in his hands, “Okay, sweet girl. I understand.”
The office had pretty much cleared out with most people starting their holiday vacations. The last few streamers from the small Christmas luncheon had been balled up and chucked in the bin, when Andy made his way out to the bull pin. You were waving off the last of the other paralegals as you collected your stuff to make your own way home.
“Hey sweetheart,” he saw you jump a little before turning to him.
You had worn a red Christmas sweater with a white bow handstitched along the collar. Your normal pencil skirt had been replaced by a pair of black slacks. And although not his favorite, the pants had done wonders for your ass. He had watched as you moved around the office putting up the last-minute decorations, only to take them down.
“Hi Andy.” You replied turning and looking up at him from your office chair. He caught the small smile that wanted to break free at your utterance of his name. That was good, you were comfortable around him again.
Clearing his throat, he brought the gift bag from behind his bag, presenting it to you, “Merry Christmas.”
“So, you were my Secret Santa,” you smirked looking at the packed gift bag he had hastily bought from the Walgreens down the street.
“It’s a three-part gift,” he answered, nodding towards it and urging you to open it.
Taking the stuffed tissue paper from the top you reached in pulling out a pink tumbler. You let out a small giggle, “For my coffee?”
He fully smiled this time, before shrugging his shoulders and pointing to the remaining items in the gift bag. Putting down the tumbler, you turned back to the bag, reaching the bottom of it, you pulled out a wooden paper weight. Carved into the center was the seal for Boston College Law School. Your brow creased as you tried to piece together the meaning of the gift. He watched as you finally looked back to him, your look pleading for an answer.
“That’s the second part. An old college buddy of mine is the registrar. I told him about a paralegal that had aced her LSATs, had helped on numerous high profile ADA cases, but hadn’t had the chance to enroll yet.” He looked on as the puzzle started to come together in your mind. Your brow creased further as tears started to line your eyelashes.
“They have grant funds set aside every year for students that display great potential. He took care of everything. You can enroll whenever you’re ready. There will be a space for you. That’s the third part.” He whispered the last of his explanation. The tears that had been threatening to fall now ran fully down your cheeks.
“Oh my God. Thank you.” You jumped from your chair, throwing your arms around his shoulders.
Initially taken by surprise, he hesitated momentarily before letting his body relax into your hold. His hands landing on your back as you sniffled into his dress shirt and whispered quiet thank you’s in his ear. He threw up his own thanks at the office being empty. Something tells him that you may have restrained yourself more with an audience.
Starting to feel you pull away, he resisted the urge to cling to you. It had been a while since Andy had a genuine hug. He had been mostly regulated to side hugs with Laurie. Every once in a while, it would include a kiss to the cheek. And Jacob, well he was fully rooted in his teen years and any idolization that he might have had for his dad had been long gone. He would only get quick nods of recognition from over the top of the phone from his son. But now with you, he could feel the heat of your body, the small catches in your breath as you tried to regulate your outburst. This was something he couldn’t give up.
“I’m so sorry. That’s not very professional of me. It’s just…this means so much to me.”
Your tearful smile at him tempted him to bring you back into his embrace. To just hold you as all the happy tears flowed out of you.
You giggled again, shaking your head, “I have to tell my parents. I have to…”
He nodded at you, seeing all the possibilities run through your mind. He had opened doors for you. Had given you a better future. Had put that delighted smile on your face. He had done that. You quickly began to pack up your remaining things, yesterday’s brief stuffed in with your laptop. Turning to him again, you smiled again grabbing onto his forearm and squeezing.
“Merry Christmas sweetheart.”
“Merry Christmas Andy.”
“Can you believe it, Jake? I can enroll whenever I’m ready. There’s a space just waiting for me.” You talked animatedly to your best friend as you placed the carved paperweight on your bookcase. It would sit perfect with your old undergrad books and picture of Jake and you from your graduation.
“That’s amazing, Ace! So, he just called a friend and got this all sorted out?” Jake asked facetiming you from his room.
He had suspicions about your kind of boss since before meeting him Thanksgiving. You had mentioned how many late nights you had been spending at the office recently and how walking out at night gave you the heebie-jeebies. The protector within him woke up immediately at that, ready to offer to pick you up if he needed to. You would never ask him to do that yourself. That’s when you brought up Andy Barber and how he started walking you out.
It hadn’t taken Jake long to dig up information on the ADA. He had the white picket fence life, although there wasn’t too much about his past listed. That was the first red flag. Hacking into the courthouse’s camera feed had been relatively easy. These older government buildings never bothered upping their security.
Andy Barber always parked in one of the garage’s blind spots. That would be the second red flag. After you left, Andy wouldn’t be seen exiting until half an hour later. What could he possibly be doing in a parked car for thirty minutes? That was the final red flag.
“His friend is the registrar at the school. He was able to work it out. What?” Sitting down on your bed, you leaned back looking at Jake on your phone. He was making his slightly worried puppy dog face.
“It’s just that’s a lot to get coordinated so fast.”
“Why can’t you just be happy for me, Jake?” You asked only to see Jake’s face immediately deflate. The worried puppy dog look morphing to kicked puppy. His eyes widening behind his glasses.
“Of course, I’m happy for you Ace. It’s just that you’re too trusting sometimes.”
“I’m not a child,” you grumbled back, and Jake wanted to jump through the phone and ease your anger.
“You’re not. You’re a person with a good heart that wants to believe the best in people,” he saw the crease in your brow ease as he spoke, “And that’s why I gotta look out for you.”
Rolling your eyes, you tried to hide your small smile at Jake’s statement. From the first moment he had run into on his skateboard, knocking both of you over in the quad in college, he had looked out for you.
“When do you come back?”
“Why? Do you already miss me?” You watched Jake wiggle his eyebrows suggestively, causing a round of giggles to erupt from you. He pretended to be hurt by your outburst before continuing, “Probably not until the new year.”
You hummed, sitting back up, Jake and you sat in silence as he watched the disappointment take over your expression. He searched for a way to get you to smile again when he heard the knock at the door. Quickly looking back at the door, he breathed a sigh of relief seeing he had locked it.
“I gotta go, Ace.” He watched you nod a short okay, before finally getting up from your bed.
“I miss you.” “I miss you too, Jake.”
Andy sat down at the desk in his home office. Neck stretched back along the back of the chair, as he thought back on the last couple of hours since getting home. Walking in, he noticed all the lights were off, not even the Christmas tree in the den was lit. Disengaging the alarm, he made his way into the kitchen to see a sticky note stuck to the fridge. Laurie had to go back into the office to finalize the preparations for the end of the year gala, while Jacob spent the night at a friend’s. So much for family time.
Putting an order into the local Italian place, he went upstairs to change out of his work clothes. He contemplated jumping in the shower, until he heard the doorbell ring with his takeout. Turning on the tree in the den, he ate his pasta dish with only the twinkling Christmas lights on. What had his life become? What had his family become?
Dropping the to-go containers in the trash, he wandered back to his office. He thought about powering up his laptop and finishing the closing remarks for one of his cases, when he found the holiday favors that you had passed around the office this morning. Your red sweater on, you greeted everyone with such joy for the upcoming holiday. He couldn’t help but smile up at you, as you left the favor on his desk.
You were a sweetheart. His sweetheart. His sweet girl. He rubbed along his bottom lip as he remembered your reaction to his gift. The hug had surprised him. But fuck if he hadn’t loved every minute of it. He didn’t even mind the soft sniffling you made as your tears stained his tie. He had made those tears.
Opening his iPad, he logged into the recently downloaded program. Would you have already told everyone about what he had done for you? Would you have passed around the carved seal of your new school for everyone to admire? Would you have put it in a place of pride? He wasn’t sure, but it couldn’t hurt to check.
Finishing entering the credentials, he watched as his screen came to life and he saw your bedroom space. It was cheerful like you, with multiple pillows adorning your bed and bursts of color in the pictures you hung on your walls. He devoured the scene, greedily taking in everything he could see, when he heard the click of the bedroom door. The small camera was powerful and could zoom 10x but was stationary in the middle of the school seal.
He waited, hearing you hum a Christmas song along the with opening and closing of drawers off camera and the tossing of a bath towel on the bed. Finally making your way into view, he saw your silk two-piece set. The navy-blue pajama top with white piping along seams hugged your tits. Your free tits, there’s no way you were still wearing a bra with the way your nipples poked through. And the shorts that accompanied it, covered the curve of your ass, but he watched as they inched up as you started to turn down the bed.
He shifted in his seat as he set the iPad to lean against the monitor stand on his desk. Widening his legs and easing back into his chair, he adjusted himself. He hadn’t had a chance for his nightly ritual. But seeing you now, he was happy to see he would have new things to add to his memory. You always knew how to take care of him. His sweet girl.
After setting most of the pillows aside, you climbed into bed, reaching over for your earbuds and phone. He couldn’t tell what you were listening to but judging by the content smile on your face, it must be good. He watched as you closed your eyes, listening to whatever was piping through your earbuds. Reaching down, he rubbed himself through his pajama bottoms. Nothing too aggressive, just softest of touches. The kind he always imagined you would give him. Always delicate and soft at the start.
He sighed to himself as he watched you, “My sweet girl.”
Lost in the moment, he didn’t catch you shifting at first. However, looking back at the screen, he saw your hand move to your top. You let out a small sigh as your fingers started to flick at your nipple, rolling it between your fingers. He frantically sat up, engaging the zoom function to watch up close. Your nipples were amazing, and he knew given the chance he would lap at them, giving them little bites to see you squirm. Your eyes were closed, breathing harsher, as you played with your tits.
“Play with her tits, sweet girl. Show me how sensitive they are,” He whispered as he took full hold of himself. After hitting his fist on the underside of the desk, he pushed back from it to make room for his hand as he continued to slide up and down his shaft.
He could hear the little sighs you were making as they started to get louder. He knew you would be vocal. You would tell him everything that made you feel good. Both your hands covered your tits while the buttons of your shirt lay open from where you had torn it open to get your hands in.
“Jesus, you’re going to be the death of me.” He squeezed around the tip before breaking contact with the screen to spit down onto himself. At feel of his warm saliva, that winking eye dribbled out onto self.
Hearing shifting, he looked back to find you grabbing one of the pillows you hadn’t bothered to put aside. Now, what were you doing now? He watched as you grabbed the forgotten towel still at the foot of your bed. Placing the pillow in the middle of the bed, you draped the towel over it before swinging a leg over and straddling the setup.
“Fuck me. Take what you need, sweet girl.” He grunted as you started to rock back and forth on the pillow.
Your hips started a natural rhythm, one hand still pawing at your tit while the other held you steady on your perch. As he looked on, the more he dribbled out on his hand, and he finally reached down pushing his pants and underwear off. His ass was momentarily cold on the leather of the seat, but he couldn’t be bothered to care as you kept humping your pillow.
“Daddy.”
Andy nearly swallowed his tongue when he heard your whisper. Your bottom lip now caught between your teeth as you whined.
“Daddy is here. Fuck, I’m right here.” He fisted himself, finally dropping to grab onto his balls and rolling them in his palm.
“Daddy, please.” You mewled out your whimper and he had to grab tight at his base to avoid blowing his load right then and there. You were close, but fuck him, if he missed it by losing it first.
“What do you need, sweet girl? What do you need from daddy?”
“Daddy, I can’t.”
How could you answer him? You had to know. His sweet girl was so smart, she could figure anything out. You had to know he was here. That he could see you. That he was watching you. You were doing this for him.
“Yes, you can. Daddy says you can. I’ll even count down. Five.”
You stuttered slightly before picking up your pace again.
“Four.”
He tightened his grip, corkscrewing his hand on each trip up.
“Three.”
Your breathing was getting harsher as you brought down your other hand, using both to steady you as your hips rolled.
“Two.”
He was almost there. His balls had already started to pull up as he planted his feet to thrust into his fist.
“One. Come on, my sweet girl. Come for daddy.”
He nearly lost it, as you threw your head back, mouth gaping in a silent cry, and the rest of your body spasming. Fucking his hand, he watched as a gush of liquid flew out of you, wetting the towel beneath.
“Oh fuck. Such a good girl. Such a good, fucking sweet girl.”
Standing up, he aimed for the screen as he lost it on the image of his sweet girl squirting for him. He twitched and continued to rub out every ounce he had for her. For once, he didn’t think about it going to waste. It hadn’t, not with what you had given him tonight.
Bracing against the edge of the desk, he flopped back into his chair, as you rolled off your pillow completely drained.
“Thank you, daddy.” You gave one final whisper before peeling off your pajama shorts and grabbing the covers to go to sleep.
“You’re more than welcome, sweet girl. Rest now.”
Andy watched you snuggle into bed, returning to the woman he knew from the office. No longer the horned up, little one that just needed her daddy to take care of her. Taking a tissue from the console behind him, he wiped himself down before wiping the screen and desk. Pulling his boxers and pajama pants back up, he started to log out of the camera’s app, when a dialog box popped up, asking to save or delete recording.
He hesitated only for a moment, before clicking save.
Maybe these work holiday functions weren’t the worst thing in the world.

On Sundays, Draco orders takeaway. It’s his thing: Sunday curry. Unchanging, like his paycheques. Like his past. Like the passing of time.
1:00. He rings the restaurant.
1:01. He ends the call without speaking.
1:02. Draco makes himself a sandwich. He has the strongest craving for turkey.

had the goofy thought of including a little recipe for every chapter of rentalcar depending on what sorts of foods nat is making/eating at that point in the story
like some chapters having these extremely fancy restaurant-quality meals and others just being like "three day old takeaway burrito from car. ingredients: three day old takeaway burrito from car. step one: go get the three day old takeaway burrito from your car. step two: eat it"
or like. when he's being held captive by jasper. "stale piece of bread and turkey. step one: discard the turkey because you are a vegetarian and even though you are starving to death you are extremely bitter and stubborn"
a few chapters later the recipe is just "jasper"
I'm not going to do this. but imagine

Chance Encounter - Part 3 + Drabble
Summary: Bucky goes the extra mile in helping Katrina during her detox. Almost a year later they celebrate multiple events.
Length: 5.2 K
Warnings: Angst, Bucky feeling guilt, cold turkey detoxification (sped up for dramatic purposes), fluff at the end and in the Drabble.
Author’s notes: This story took such a different route than my original plan. It was supposed to be a meet cute story then the idea of making the OFC Bucky’s adult daughter, with her own daughter, just kind of appeared in my head and grew from there. Plus the idea of Bucky as sexy dad and granddad was definitely appealing. I hope it resonates.
<<Part 2
🩺 🎉
Bucky didn’t go to the cafeteria for supper, staying in his quarters instead, brooding. Ignoring the sound of someone knocking on his door until Friday advised him it was Sam, led to the latter entering with a cheeseburger, fries and a couple of bottles of beer. Placing the food down in front of Bucky he opened the one beer, handing it to him, then opened the other for himself.
“She didn’t take it well,” he stated, drawing a grimace from Bucky.
“She took it better than I thought but then I told her about the kill squad and that when she comes off the suppressant, she might be uncontrollable. That’s when she closed down.” Bucky took a drink of his beer and picked up the cheeseburger, nodding at Sam before he bit into it. “Thanks.”
“Well, at least she knows the truth.” Sam reached for a fry. “You know, even if she doesn’t speak to you again, you did the right thing. She’s free of that husband, free of HYDRA and she can live the life she wants.”
“Yeah, as long as she doesn’t turn into a killer,” replied Bucky sarcastically. “She’ll have to hide her abilities to stay anonymous. SHIELD will likely have to put her into witness protection so that the CIA don’t get any ideas of using her in black ops. Life will be great for her.”
“Whoa, that turned dark,” commented Sam, taking a swig of his beer. “Give her space. She already knew you killed her parents and still went with you when you showed up at her door. She’s just dealing with all of this new information all at once.”
A grunt was Bucky’s response. As unrealistic as the idea had been, Bucky had hoped for Katrina to be more receptive to the thought of him as her father. He had even briefly thought of buying a house for all three of them, of being there for her and Anna, and doing things together as a family. Now, he was blaming himself for even having that hope, knowing it was an unrealistic fantasy. A hand waved in front of him, and he jerked back.
“What?” He glared at Sam.
“You were somewhere else,” said his partner.
“Yeah,” he sighed. “I was. Sorry. I kind of got my hopes up. You know, imagining how things could be.”
“Nothing wrong with that.” Sam stood up, finishing his beer. “You going to be okay?”
“Yeah, I’ll be fine. At least, Katrina and Anna are safe now, and the docs will figure out a way to deal with the issue.”
“It will work out,” replied Sam. “Try to get some sleep.”
With a wave, he left, and Bucky finished his meal. He picked up the bottles and put them in the recycle bin in his quarters, putting the takeaway box into the garbage. Stretching, he called out to Friday to turn out the lights but was interrupted by a knock on his door. Figuring Sam forgot something he opened it and was startled to see Katrina and Anna. As soon as she saw him, she began to cry and he opened his arms to her, holding her close, as he drew her inside.
“It’s okay,” he murmured. “You’re alright.”
“I’m sorry,” she sobbed. “It was so much to take in and I thought I should try to figure it out by myself, but I haven’t been able to think for myself for my whole life. I’m so confused.”
“Come sit down,” he said, taking Anna from her. “Have you eaten?” She nodded. “What has you so confused?”
“Stupid things, like if you’re telling me the truth. I’ve been lied to my whole life, and I just don’t know if I can tell anymore what the truth is. I went to see Shuri and she said you’re the most honest man she knows.”
He smiled slightly. “She’s biased but she knows me very well. She’s the scientist who neutralized the trigger words that brought out the Winter Soldier and she designed my arm. What else did she tell you?”
“I couldn’t understand why you didn’t remember me, because I thought I was important to you. But in the supermarket, there was no recognition. Yet, you remembered other things that happened to you. She said HYDRA really did a lot of damage to your brain and that there were many things that you would likely never remember. Were the memories of me the ones that you’ll never get back?”
“Listen to me,” he said gently, placing Anna on his lap. “When I first saw you in the supermarket, I saw a woman who looked out of place. You seemed overwhelmed at the size of the place, the selection, the whole atmosphere. What you wanted was on the top shelf and you couldn’t reach it, but you were too afraid to ask for help. It reminded me of myself after I got away from HYDRA. So, I offered to help you as one person to another. Then when you looked at me, I could tell you recognized me, but I thought it was just like when any member of the public suddenly realizes it’s me. It wasn’t until you went to the end of the aisle and looked back at me that I had a flash of a memory that I had seen you before, but I didn’t know where. When I went to my car and saw you sitting there, it just reinforced that you were familiar. I recognized Sergei as well but couldn’t place where I had seen him, except the feeling I got from him wasn’t good. So, I got his licence plate number and Sam looked up Sergei’s information. I had his name and address but still couldn’t put the pieces together. I thought he may have been HYDRA but there were so many people that I encountered over the years I couldn’t narrow it down in my mind. But I was worried about you, because you were obviously afraid of him, even in that parking lot. So, I came to that house, and I watched through the window. When he hit you, I was ready to beat him down just on that alone. After he left, I knocked on the door and you called me Soldier, so you did know who I used to be, except when you said it, there was no fear. That didn’t make sense, even when you told me who you were and how you knew me, because I still didn’t remember. It didn’t matter because I wasn’t leaving there without you and Anna. I’m not the type of man to turn my back on anyone who needs help, and you needed it.”
“Do you remember me now?”
“Bits and pieces only,” he admitted. “Feelings, a couple of memories of me holding a child as she cried, which may have been you or it may have been my sister. After they forced me to kill your parents, my memory was wiped repeatedly, to make me forget you, then I was frozen. After I was awakened, I was wiped again and sent out on a kill mission, according to the files Sam found. They reprogrammed me to go after Steve Rogers because he was getting in the way of their plans. Until then, the public didn’t know who I was. But during a fight, my mask came off, and Steve recognized me, called me by name and that made other memories of him start pushing out. They wiped me again to go after him and I almost killed him, but a specific memory came back of us as friends and that was it, I wasn’t going back. If I had remembered you then, I would have come back for you. I would have never left you there. But they did too good of a job on my memories of you. I’m sorry.”
“So, you don’t care about me as your daughter,” she said hesitantly. “You only care for me as some woman who was in an abusive relationship.”
“No, that’s not true,” smiled Bucky, as he looked at her, then at Anna. “I lost everything because of HYDRA. My parents died without them ever knowing the truth that I survived. My sister was alive, and I did manage to meet with her before she died but all those years without her were gone forever. Steve went back to the past and he was the last person I had history with. When Sam told me that you were my daughter, it was like a part of me that I had closed up had opened again. You’re family, Katrina. You and Anna are my family. I don’t know if the old memories will come back but we can make new ones. We can get a house and live together, with a swing set in the back yard and a pet. You can go to college. Anna can go to school.”
“What about the transition? What if I turn into one of those killers? They must have thought that’s what would happen if they put me on those suppressants.”
“You’re also my daughter,” said Bucky. “I killed for them for a long time, but I haven’t killed anyone since the moment I remembered Steve for good. Shuri said it was because the good person I really am wouldn’t have done those things willingly. It’s something I struggle with but there must be some truth in it. Those killers were never good people. They were trained from a young age to have no mercy, no joy, and no love to give or receive. You’re not them. Your foster parents did love you, even though they were part of HYDRA. They tried to protect you and failed. You love Anna and you’ve protected her from the moment she was born, and you haven’t failed with her.”
“I love you, too,” she whispered, looking at her hands. Bucky felt a swell of emotion at her words. “Everyone said you were dangerous, but you never were to me. Growing up on that base was hard because only three people treated me kindly, you and my parents. Even though Pierce was polite I always knew he saw me as something to use.” She sniffed and Bucky reached into his pocket for another handkerchief, handing it to her, bringing a slight smile from her. “I’d like for us to live together. If anyone understands how hard it is to go from living as a prisoner to suddenly being free, it’s you.” She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself then looked at him again. “Can I call you Dad?”
“You can call me anything you want, sweetheart,” smiled Bucky, suddenly feeling like crying himself.
This time the hug wasn’t for comfort but for grasping at a chance for happiness. A part of Bucky that had been missing in his life was finally filled. For Katrina, she felt safe, especially knowing that this man who had looked out for her when she was a child was more. He was her father, and nothing would ever change that.
“I better get Anna to bed,” she said, as she finally pulled out of the hug. “Tomorrow, when they outline the plan to take us off the suppressants I want you there, as my dad and my friend. Then we can do what you said, make new memories, permanent ones.”
“I’ll be there,” said Bucky. “I promise.”
He stood up, kissing them both on the forehead in turn before handing her daughter back. Then he pulled them both in for another quick hug before walking them to the door. He watched them walk down the hallway towards their quarters before he went back inside. That night, Bucky Barnes slept straight through for over seven hours, a new record.
When he showed up with Katrina and Anna at the Avengers lab on the following day and listened to the plan, he still had doubts that things would work out. The analysis of the pills proved that they were no longer as effective as they had been as the active ingredients in them were losing their potency. They were also addictive in nature. Katrina was on the cusp of having a physical breakdown. They could either wean her off or put her through a cold turkey withdrawal from the suppressants. Each process had its pros and cons.
“What do you think I should do?” she asked Bucky, who held Anna in his lap.
“If it was me, I would want to get that stuff out of me as soon as possible,” he said. “But it’s going to be hard on you, really hard.”
He didn’t tell her about his own withdrawal from what HYDRA gave him, a process he underwent alone because he was on the run, without any help or trust in anyone.
“You’ll help me?” Her plaintive look as she asked almost broke his heart, but he assured her he would. She turned to the two doctors and Shuri. “I’ll go through the withdrawal as long as my dad can stay and help. I don’t want Anna to see.”
“She can stay with my sister and nephews in Delacroix,” said Sam. “She’ll be safe there and get lots of fresh air. We can arrange for a sorcerer to open a portal directly there.”
Looking at Bucky for guidance on Sam’s offer, he nodded his approval, and she accepted it. After a tearful goodbye with Anna, they decided to start the process the next day. With Sam along, the three of them spent the day together, with Bucky telling her about his family and growing up in Brooklyn before the war. He showed her an album he had of pictures that his sister had of him when he was young. It was bittersweet for Katrina, seeing the pictures of his parents and his sister, family she would never know. That evening, after dinner, Bucky took her up to the roof, where a lounge area was, and they watched the sunset together, before he walked her back to her room and assured her that she would get through this.
Bucky stayed with her throughout the detoxification process, as there were things in the pills that couldn’t even be identified as other than toxic. While her emotions went all over the place, at the same time as her strength and senses exploded, he held and rocked her like a baby, cleaned up her vomit and worse. When she begged for the pills to take the edge off of what her body was going through, he listened, then refused her requests, taking the physical and verbal abuse that she threw at him in response. Not once did he lose his temper or raise a hand to her. The few times he took a break, when a strong sedative was given to Katrina so that both of them could rest, he would shower, crying in that sanctuary, for what HYDRA had done to his daughter. Then he checked in on Anna, having a live video call with her, assuring her that Mama would get better. After some food to replenish him, he returned to that barren room with only a mattress on the floor, since Katrina had destroyed all the furniture in the first of her many rages as her body shed the drugs she had been fed since she was two years old. Every time he returned; it was with a nod to Bruce to lock the door. Then he sat next to her on the floor and waited for her to wake up, ready to go through the process all over again.
For those who were watching on closed circuit TV, Sam, Bruce, Helen and Shuri, it was both heartbreaking and uplifting at the same time, at witnessing the love he expressed to his daughter to stay with her throughout the ordeal. Sam thought it was one of the most heroic things Bucky would ever do. On the fourth day, he was dozing as he sat against the wall, the strain of all of it finally catching up to his super soldier stamina. Katrina woke up and rolled over to see her father sitting on the floor, his back against the wall with his eyes closed, his face unshaven, his hair a mess; and thought she had never seen anyone that she loved more at that moment than him.
“Dad?”
He opened his eyes immediately and looked at her intently.
“Yeah, sweetheart?” he answered, tiredly.
“Are you okay? You look like shit.”
He smiled. “I’ve been better. How are you?”
“Hungry,” she said. “But better.” She sniffed. “Is that me that smells?” He nodded. “Can I have a shower and get out of these clothes?”
Sam, who was watching at that moment on the closed-circuit TV with Bruce, turned to him.
“That’s good, right? She’s through the worst of it?”
“Yeah,” agreed Bruce. “She might have a relapse but if she’s hungry and her sense of smell is working then her body is finally readjusting. I think we can let her out to get cleaned up and have something to eat but I still want her to stay here for the week just for observation.”
Allowed to shower and wash her hair, Katrina took a long time before she came out of the bathroom, going right to Bucky and wrapping her arms around his middle.
“I have your eyes,” she said, as the side of her head rested against his chest and he enclosed her with his arms. “I hope Anna has your eyes as well.”
“You already have my heart,” he whispered, “both of you.”
It was further proof of their blood kinship to confirm she inherited the blue eyes of his family. After two days with no relapse, Katrina asked for Anna’s return, and the decision was made to wean the little girl off the pills slowly. She hadn’t been on them as long, only for a year and it took just over a month at the compound to wean her off of them completely. Her blue eyes matched those of her mother and grandfather. Although she was still adjusting to her growing abilities, her natural joyful nature sprouted during that time, endearing her to many of the staff. The time they spent together at the compound, proved to be time well spent, as they learned how to be a family.
With Nick Fury’s help, a house in Brooklyn was found, ready for them to move in; just needing furniture, linens, and all the other things necessary for living. Bucky moved all of his possessions from his flat over but so much more was needed and the three of them went on a bit of a spending spree, finding furnishings for their small family. Many hands came forward to help them move in when they finally took possession. For the first time since he left for war in 1943, Bucky Barnes had a real home to come back to.
They also received word from SHIELD that the search of Sergei’s house had revealed a list of people who had been in HYDRA but were never identified or located when it fell. When the authorities showed up on their doorsteps to take them into custody, many of them took the same way out that Sergei did. A few tried to claim they were forced to be part of that organization but were still taken in to be given their day in court.
Eleven months later
The doorbell rang again, and Bucky called out that he would answer it. Peeking through the window he saw it was Sam, Sarah and the boys, and he opened the door with a big smile, noticing the big present that Sam was carrying.
“You didn’t have to bring anything,” he said to his second family. “Just yourselves.”
“Like I’m going to come to a four-year old’s birthday party without an offering,” replied Sam. “It’s really something for the house. It was the boys’ idea.”
Bucky looked at AJ and Cass, standing there with grins on their faces. “It better not be a video game console. My granddaughter is way too young to be addicted to them like you two are.”
The sound of running footsteps had everyone turn around as Anna came barrelling down the hallway.
“Uncle Sam, Auntie Sarah!” She hugged them around the knees, almost knocking them into the wall.
“Gently, Anna,” warned Bucky. “Remember, you have to be gentle with everyone.”
He picked her up, kissing her on the cheek. “Why don’t you take the boys out to the backyard and show them your climbing gym?”
“Okay, Grandpa,” she answered, then wriggled to get out of his arms.
Grabbing the boys’ hands, she pulled them with her out to the backyard.
“I don’t think I’ll ever get used to hearing you be called Grandpa,” smiled Sarah, kissing him on the cheek. “I think you like it a lot.”
“I do like it; I can’t lie,” smiled Bucky, then he put his hands out. “Give me that and I’ll add it to the pile of presents that other people brought even though I specifically asked them not to.”
“Stop complaining, Dad,” said Katrina, coming out of the kitchen. “You got her four presents and already let her open two of them. Hi, Sam. Hi, Sarah. Thanks for coming. There’s one person left, and he’ll be here soon.”
“A certain wingman?” teased Sam, as Bucky grimaced at him. “Aw, you like him. You just don’t want to admit it. Have you had the shovel talk with him yet?”
Bucky kept walking into the living room, giving Sam the finger as he did. That made him chuckle and he hugged Katrina, then signed to her.
“Does he know how serious you two are?”
She glared at him and signed back. “No, not yet.”
“Are you two signing to each other?” Bucky called out from the living room. “I can hear your hands move.”
They both stopped, then grinned as Bucky came back out to the hallway. With a knowing look at Sam, Katrina led them through the kitchen and out to the backyard which was done up with balloons and streamers. Music was playing and there was definitely a party atmosphere going on. Sarah looked at her brother as they went down the steps, surprised at the level of activity in the back yard. This was a bit much for Bucky’s usual tastes, but he seemed to be right in there, laughing and joking with people. He kept his eye on Anna, especially if she was too exuberant in her dealings with others, as she often forgot that most people weren’t like Grandpa, Mama, Uncle Thor, Uncle Peter, or Auntie Carol. Today, they were celebrating a couple of things, including Anna’s fourth birthday, or her first really, since her birth father Sergei, didn’t believe in celebrating sentimental milestones. In his mind, life was hard and you either took what you wanted to survive, or you died.
When the doorbell rang again bringing Joaquin Torres into the party, Sam was surprised to see a nod of acknowledgement from Bucky at the Avenger’s arrival. Maybe the major change in adjustment that the stoic super soldier underwent in the past year was an understatement. Remembering the first day he saw Bucky Barnes, that day on the freeway when the man literally destroyed Sam’s car with his hands, he smiled as he watched him pick Anna up, smothering her with kisses before he put her on his shoulders.
“Alright, let’s get this party started,” said Bucky, as he looked over the people assembled in his back yard. “Officially, this is just a get-together to celebrate a few things. First, I want to congratulate my daughter, Katrina, for getting her GED, scoring high enough to earn college credits in math, science, and language arts. She worked very hard to get that done, and I’m very proud of her. I’ll let her make the second announcement.”
“Thanks, Dad,” she replied, making several people grin at each other, as they still weren’t used to Bucky being called that. “I wanted to announce that I was accepted into NYU, and I’ll be starting there for the fall semester taking Applied General Studies, since I really don’t know what I want to be when I grow up.”
“Not following your father as an Avenger?” Thor looked confused. “You are a super soldier, aren’t you?”
“Yes, I am but I’m also a mom, and I don’t think I inherited the ass-kicking gene from him,” she grinned. “Actually, he kind of suggested it. Said I should find my own path and he would light the way.” She looked lovingly at Bucky, who returned the look right at her. “Anyways, it’s been almost a year since Dad found me, and helped me start this new life. You’ve all been important to me as well, so thank you for being there for me and Anna.”
After the polite applause, Bucky lifted Anna off his shoulders and held her in his arms. He whispered into her ear, smiling as her face shone brightly.
“Really? Now?”
“Now,” he said. “What do you want to say to everyone?”
She looked sweetly at the people who were gathered then crowed out her greeting. “It’s my birthday! I’m four years old. Let’s have fun!”
It was an incredible party, as much fun for her mother and grandfather as it was for the four-year-old girl. Every gift she opened brought joy to her, even the video game console that Sam Wilson brought, ignoring the fake glares from her grandfather. When Bucky brought the cake out, with its four candles lit up Anna clapped her hands.
“Close your eyes, make a wish and blow out the candles,” said Katrina.
Scrunching her eyes up tight, Anna thought for a moment then she leaned forward and blew the candles out, to applause from everyone. As Katrina cut into the cake and shared pieces with everyone, Sam stood next to his partner, who gazed at his daughter and granddaughter with so much love.
“You’re a lucky man, Buck,” he said. “A good deed in the supermarket led you to find a real treasure.”
“I am lucky,” agreed the super soldier. “I have everything I want in life; a good job, a home, friends, and a family that I never knew I had. Thanks for doing the leg work and finding out the truth.”
“Any time, partner, any time.”
He patted Bucky on the shoulder, then both men accepted their piece of cake, enjoying every bite. Sometimes the darkest of discoveries leads to the brightest of celebrations, and this birthday party of Anna Barnes was proof of it. From now on she would grow up knowing that she was loved and cherished by her mother and her grandfather, the man formerly known as the Winter Soldier. This was one chance encounter that changed three lives for the better.
Bonus Drabble - I tried to include this in part 3 but it didn’t fit so I made it into a little Drabble instead.
The sight of Joaquin Torres holding hands and occasionally hugging or kissing Katrina Barnes at her daughter’s birthday party still surprised most people. Those that were at the compound when he arrived during the time of Katrina’s observation period, witnessed how he seemed taken by her immediately. Those that weren’t there heard the story and still didn’t believe it almost a year later. Torres didn’t even know she was Bucky’s daughter as she was listed at the security station as Katrina Ivanova. She was in the cafeteria waiting for Bucky when Joaquin saw her and Anna. Seeing Sam, he gestured to him to come over.
“Who is she? New staff?”
Sam had grinned, wondering if he should mess around with the flyer. Then Bucky joined his family, and Anna wanted to sit on his lap, drawing a smile out of the stoic super soldier. That just intrigued Joaquin even more and he pestered Sam for more information.
“The older one is Bucky’s daughter,” Sam finally said. “Just found out about her. They’re going to try to make a go of it as a family.”
“The little one is his granddaughter? He’s okay with that?”
“He’s great with it,” said Sam. “You want to meet her? She’s 26. Just a little younger than you.”
“He won’t hurt me, will he?” Joaquin looked a little worried.
“No promises. Come on, we’ll go sit with them.”
They picked up their trays and came over. Bucky narrowed his eyes a little bit as he noticed how Joaquin was looking at Katrina but said nothing, although he moved to the same side of the table with her.
“Katrina, this is Joaquin Torres, also known as The Falcon,” said Sam. “He works with your dad a lot. Joaquin, Katrina Barnes.”
“I will be, as soon as I get my name legally changed,” she replied, extending her hand to him. “This little one is my daughter, Anna.”
Joaquin looked from her to Bucky, who was keeping a civil face, at least for now.
“So, you were born while he was still the Winter Soldier?”
“Yeah, it’s a long story but because of a chance encounter at a supermarket, I found my dad, and he found me and Anna.” She anticipated his next question. “I inherited his abilities, if you’re wondering.”
He smiled at her, then at Bucky. “I think you’ll be a good dad and grandfather. You already seem a lot happier.”
“I’m working on it,” murmured Bucky. “Don’t you have some work to do on your suit?”
“Already finished the systems upgrade,” said Joaquin. “I’m pretty free until we get another mission. Oh, I heard that Fury was looking for you and Cap. Sorry Sarge.”
“Sarge?” asked Katrina. “They call you Sarge?”
“Hmmm,” answered Bucky, then he looked at Sam, who was trying to keep a straight face. His own face and voice were definitely not amused. “I need to talk to you, in private.”
As they walked away, he could hear Katrina ask Torres why her dad was called Sarge. They didn’t see Katrina, Anna or Torres for the rest of the afternoon, as he showed her the amenities outside, including a playground that Bucky didn’t know about. That was the day Bucky finally experienced what all the fathers of his dates in the 1930s and 1940s went through when he led their daughters out the door. The thought of karma finally catching up with him on his ladies’ man days, was a bitter pill to swallow. But at least he knew where Torres lived, and he definitely had the shovel talk with him a few days later, while sharpening one of his favourite knives.
Since then, Torres hadn’t disappointed Sarge. Whenever he showed up to take Katrina out he was pleasant with her father and he always brought her back on time, while showing her the greatest respect. He did have plans to visit Sarge soon, to ask him something very important, but he could wait. Today was Anna’s day and the ring was patiently waiting for its moment to be offered to her mother.

I used to work at a deli when I was younger and I feel like people might not know some of these takeaways so there's a list of strong opinions from a girl with quality meat.
Cutting lunchmeat thinner makes it harder to pull apart, but also increases surface area which makes for a "fuller" sandwich. You're still getting the same amount of meat but the flavor and texture is improved by this.
Cheese is the same, but is much harder to keep from sticking together or falling apart
The secret is to make sure the slicer is sharpened and cleaned regularly, slice SLOWLY, and rotate the block every 4 or 5 slices, then gently lay the cheese down.
Its a pain in the balls and can be annoying for the person slicing so be sure to appreciate them appropriately if you're like me and like stuff super thin.
Different cuts work for different sandwiches. Thick slices are better for frying. Thin is good for like cheese and crackers. Shaved is best for sandwiches but make sure you don't squish the bag.
For cheese, brands actually kind of matter because some cheeses use more cream while others use more oil.
This is especially true for American cheese. Please I am begging you just try the Clearfield or Land of Lakes cheese that they actually slice instead of assuming Kraft singles are all American cheese is it is so much better.
That said, more "oil based" cheese melt faster
Some delis let you call in your order ahead of time. For bigger orders especially I highly recommend this.
A pound of roast beef can be expensive but can make an easy meal for 4 with some long rolls, cheese, and beef bouillon. Just boil some beef bouillon til it to make a simple au jus and throw in the roast beef. Put it on the roll with some cheese and you're done.
You can do the same thing with sliced turkey and a can of gravy.
As a rule of thumb - local delis usually have better quality than grocery store delis OR they're cheaper. Sometimes you luck out and both are true. Shop around.
Seriously, call in your order especially if you like to get stuff shaved. Call before you leave or even tell them a time to expect you.
Another rule of thumb I have is that I will take good cheese over good bread, and good bread over good meat.
A little bit of vegetable oil, salt, pepper, and oregano all on the roll will make your sandwich amazing without making it too soggy.
Ham or bologna cut in 1/4 inch thick slices are perfect for frying. Add egg and cheese to the ham for a decent breakfast sandwich. If you're in the Jersey area this is how thick your pork roll should be too.
If a sale is going on, buy in bulk. Most lunchmeat can be frozen especially if you're using it for hot sandwiches
Remember, you should be nice, but if they won't cut to your specifications, you don't have to buy from them. You can stand up for yourself without being a dick.
I think that's all but I'll add more if i think of any. Thanks for reading!

Sorry to word it so crudely but it always kinda bothered me how like,,, borderline horny all of House's co-workers were for constantly trying to get him to quit his meds cold turkey. And I'm not saying this in a way where I'm saying it shouldn't have been written that way, but rather I think it effectively brings up a very interesting aspect that sometimes befalls people who live with disabling amounts of pain.
Like I totally understand that when something is being abused that it has potentially devastating effects to a person's life. But as someone who deals with chronic pain that has no identifiable source and is refused access to pain meds cause they think I Dont Need Them™, it really sucks having someone else telling you how You feel for you.
Out of all the times that people tried to convince him to drop the pills, how many actually sat down with him and asked him about his pain and quality of life before considering the solutions?? They didn't draw out and plans and say "Ok, we know you're pain on a bad day makes it difficult to do x y z and tedious doing a b c on a good day even, so this is how we can account for this." They just basically shamed him for relying on medication to function every time, for their own moral comfortability.
I think the only people who understood him in that sense was Thirteen and then later on Wilson after he went through his cancer arc. Sometimes you have to do your best to live your own idea of your best life, whatever that means to each person. And I'm not saying people shouldn't account for their health and well-being as well as the well-being of their loved ones, of course they should!
But not everyone's reality looks the same. Some people get up and run every morning. Others may struggle just to get out of bed in the morning. But that doesn't make either of them any less or more deserving of the tools that they need to live their daily lives. And I hope one of the bigger takeaways that people get from that plot is that there has to be a balance to the idea of Helping a loved one with chronic pain or disabilities. You can absolutely encourage them to make good choices for their health and even be a part of that routine out of care. But don't shame them for the aids they may or may not have to use to just be able to function on a daily ya know?
#house md#kinda ????#just thinkin about things#esp since my body pain has been through the roof and also evolving#i look at him and i imagine how badly he nust hurt and each time they take him off mrfs without buferring it makes me wanna cry#pain mention ///#medication mention //#i guess technically addiction mention

Have a fever and my viscera are trying to claw their way out of my orifices so I have ordered chicken soup and salty chips and "fire cider" (ginger tea drink with lots of citrus and cinnamon and apple cider vinegar) and a gigantic turkey sandwich and a liter of lemonade. I'm gonna take a bath with Epsom salts and listen to my audiobook about the history of Istanbul. Begone, foul plague (lingering aftereffects of a really bad allergic reaction) (My whole right arm looks like I have some unearthly medieval Pox but it's just fucking. Hives) (I've been eating soup all day because it's still hard to swallow!!! And it was only CROSS-CONTAMINATION FROM FOOD BEING COOKED IN THE SAME OIL AS SHRIMP/PREPARED WITH THE SAME EQUIPMENT THAT TOUCHED SHRIMP PASTE) (I have got to stop ordering from late-night pan-Asian takeaways given this specific allergy but here is the thing. I am fucking stupid)

hello Morgan happy friday
so for my Ficlet prompt request I got for ya -
because love's such an old-fashioned word and love dares you to care ... (under pressure - queen & bowie)
for firstprince plz 💚💚
Hey Mel! I've had this song in my head all day as I've written this, thank you!
Henry doesn’t think he’s ever been so mad at Alex.
Naturally, he understands that law school is cumbersome, that it takes up a lot of Alex’s time and energy. A lot of it. It shouldn’t take all of it. After all, Alex needs to have time to be a person too.
The worst of it is, he doesn’t think Alex sees what’s happening. He’s barely spent any time with Henry at all- not even to sleep for more than a couple of hours a night.
Apart from the fact that he's worried about his health and well-being, Henry just misses him. He can't remember the last time they watched Bake-Off together, or the last time he had one of Alex's home-cooked make. Not that he minds trying his hand at a recipe or two, but he's sure Alex is getting sick of spaghetti and takeaway meals from their favorite restaurants.
It all comes to a head just before the holidays. Of course, he doesn't celebrate Thanksgiving, but being in the States, it's expected that he'll celebrate with Alex and his family. Alex had surfaced from his readings just enough to insist on his family coming to the brownstone to celebrate. Nora’s here too, after all, so it just makes sense for everyone from the First and Second Families to be together.
He may have set the plans in motion, but Alex does nothing in the week leading up to Thanksgiving to prepare the brownstone for the President’s arrival. Henry's been the one scrubbing the floors and going to the grocery, even preparing traditional dishes he's never made before in his life. It's exhausting, honestly, and Henry loves the President, he really does, but there's something about the combination of getting ready for her arrival without the music he's sure Alex would put on and sing to (he tried, but it wasn't the same as his partner’s off-key renditions) that rubs him the wrong way.
Finally, he storms into the room that's become Alex's study over the past months. Things need to change, and it's clear that inaction has accomplished nothing.
Alex doesn't look up from his screen as Henry enters. Finally, Henry slams the door behind him, and that gets Alex's attention. “What's up, H?”
Henry throws his hands in the air. That if nothing else demonstrates just how oblivious Alex's been. “What's up? What's up is that I'm slaving away preparing stuffing and mashed potatoes and cornbread-” He sees Alex flinch at the mention of the turkeys that featured so prominently in their first phone call, but he soldiers on. This needs to be said, whether Alex is willing to hear it or not. “For your family's arrival in less than two hours, and you're so busy with your studies that you're unable to help.”
Alex opens his mouth to interrupt, but Henry doesn't let him get a word in. “But it's more than that. I understand that you have things you need to do, and that's fine- of course it is, you're at uni. But it's to the point that I feel like I never get to see you anymore, never get to laugh with you or take David on walks to the park together or even watch a movie. I feel like our lives are so detached- they orbit each other, but there's no gravity connecting the two planets of our lives.” He swallows hard, refusing to let the sob rising in his throat escape. “I miss the man I love. I miss my best friend.”
At that point, David, who Henry hadn't noticed had followed him into the room, nudges his hand, and he automatically scratches the top of his head without breaking eye contact with Alex. He's looking at Henry like he's never seen him before, and it makes Henry's heart lurch. How did they get here?
“Is that really how you feel?” Alex asks so softly that Henry can barely hear him speak.
All Henry could do was nod.
“Baby. I never meant-”
“Shhh, I know,” Henry rushed to assure him, taking his hands. “But it happened, and now what we need to do is fix it, yeah?”
Alex nodded then cocked his head to the side. “But how? There's no way I can get rid of law school homework, Hen.”
“We'll figure it out. Now, are you ready to celebrate? The thing I'm always most grateful for is you.”
“Always.”

Btw I've been wondering, when do you use sabakos and when do you use sabaki? I'm not particularly knowledgable on Greek declension.
Grammarwise, σαβακός is the masculine nominative singular form, which is what's used for the headword in the dictionary. I picked it for my url partially because it was available, and partially because, given the meaning (rotten, feeble, effeminate) it seemed like the masculine form was needed to accurately describe me, given the implication of the word. If I had to give the closest possible literal single-word translation, it would probably be "moldered" which matches the archaic tone of the word as well as the connection to dried out, crumbling. But "rotten" or "smashed" are close as well.
As far as my online name, I use Sabaki (rhymes with bee), which is pretty close to the feminine nominative singular σᾰβᾰκή as it would have been pronounced in more colloquial speech in the Hellenistic or early Roman period. I picked that because I didn't like the sound of "-κός" for my own name (too masculine) and the neutral "-κόν" implies the wrong sort of gender-neutral in English in my view, similar to how "waitron" sounds like a robot not an enby waitstaff person. I don't really consider myself a woman, but I also don't like following rules so I'm fine with a girl name.
The word sabakos itself is a particularly rare word from pre-Greek, the only places it's attested, apparently, are two mentions in Hippocrates' On the Sacred Disease, an entry in a dictionary by Hesychius specifically on rare and obscure words, and a poem (7.222) in the Greek anthology by Philodemus the Epicurean, from the 1st century BCE.
I actually translated the poem itself a while back. It seemed appropriate to do if I was going to have this word as my url since it's really the only tangible use of the word. So I'm going to infodump a bit about it.
The poem is a funeral epitaph, meant to be inscribed on a gravestone, although they were often written more as an artistic exercise, as if they were intended to be inscribed. But you should picture this as if it was written on a literal gravestone. This epitaph is dedicated to a Gallus, a eunuch priestess of the goddess Cybele, who ritually castrated themselves as part of the mourning of Attis, similar to the Greek myth of Aphrodite and Adonis.
Here lies her delicate fragile body, here lies buried Turtle-dove, brittle blossom emasculate she that stood out in crowd and clamor, she who attracted chattering, she the goddess mother's beloved she above all adored Aphrodisiac, she that feminized mystery, love-potion strapped to her sundress
Bloom, stone, from this sacred dust, from this mad priestess grow not thorns, but petals, of white violets
The phrase where σαβακός appears is in the second line, "brittle blossom emasculate" is "σαβακῶν ἄνθεμα Σαλμακίδων" where ἄνθεμα is a floral ornament (blossom) and Σαλμακίδων refers to Salmacis, the same root as Salmacian, a fountain in modern day Turkey that was said to make all men who drank from it effeminate (emasculate).
I'm... actually kinda surprised this poem isn't more well known? I couldn't find any translations of it that weren't either non-poetic scholarly ones or heavily bowdlerized. But it's fairly unambiguously about someone we would consider "transfem" and it's from the 1st century BCE!
In case there was any doubt about the gender identity of the subject of the poem, other than the feminine pronouns, the last line I think really sells it, the poem is full of other references to flowers (Turtle-dove, blossom, etc.) which carry a feminine connotation, but thorns ("βάτον") or brambles were often specifically associated with young men. This very last part is totally my own interpretation here, but I think it's fairly clear that the intended takeaway here is that this is how the Gallus should be remembered, that the ritual and the dress and all were not an act, but a representation of who she really was.
#mine#tagamemnon#i used david sider's commentary as background for the translation#didnt use his translation though and i dont agree with him on the tone or intent of the poem#unlike dusty classical scholars i can imagine someone actually being upset that their friend died even if that friend was one of the galli#ah well

Understanding Healthy Weight Gain
Before diving into specific strategies, it's important to understand the principles of healthy weight gain. By focusing on balanced nutrition, adequate calorie intake, and regular exercise, you can achieve weight gain in a way that promotes overall well-being.
To reach a healthy weight gain, it's crucial to prioritize a well-rounded approach that nourishes your body with the right nutrients. This means incorporating a variety of foods from all food groups, including lean proteins, whole grains, fruits, vegetables, and healthy fats.
Effective weight gain strategies are centered around consuming more calories than your body burns. However, it's important to choose nutrient-dense foods that provide essential vitamins and minerals. Aim to increase your calorie intake by adding healthy, high-calorie foods to your meals and snacks.
Regular exercise is also key in gaining weight in a healthy way. Engaging in strength training exercises can help build lean muscle mass, contributing to a healthy weight gain. Additionally, exercise promotes overall fitness and enhances appetite, allowing you to consume the necessary calories for weight gain.
Remember, healthy weight gain is a gradual process. It's important to approach it with patience and consistency, allowing your body to adapt and progress steadily towards your goal.
Planning Your Diet for Weight Gain
Gaining weight quickly requires a well-planned diet that incorporates nutrient-rich foods and strategic meal planning. By focusing on the right combination of macronutrients and incorporating calorie-dense options, you can optimize your weight gain journey. Here are some essential nutritional tips and the best foods for gaining weight.
Essential Nutrients for Weight Gain
When planning your diet for weight gain, it's important to ensure you're consuming the right balance of nutrients. Proteins, carbohydrates, and healthy fats play a crucial role in promoting muscle growth and providing the energy needed for gaining weight fast. Include these macronutrients in your diet:
Proteins: Opt for lean sources like chicken breast, turkey, fish, tofu, and Greek yogurt. These protein sources are not only high in quality but also provide essential amino acids for muscle repair and growth.
Carbohydrates: Choose complex carbs like whole grains, potatoes, quinoa, and sweet potatoes. These provide sustained energy for workouts and fuel for weight gain.
Healthy Fats: Incorporate sources like avocados, nuts, seeds, olive oil, and fatty fish like salmon into your diet. Healthy fats provide additional calories and support various bodily functions.
Calorie-Dense Foods to Include
To gain weight quickly, it's important to consume calorie-dense foods that provide a significant amount of energy in smaller portions. Consider adding these foods to your diet:
Nut Butters: Peanut butter, almond butter, and other nut butters are calorie-dense and packed with healthy fats.
Dried Fruits: Raisins, dates, and dried apricots are high in calories and can be easily incorporated into snacks or added to oatmeal and salads.
Whole Milk: Whole milk is a great source of healthy fats and protein. It can be consumed alone or added to smoothies and shakes to increase calorie intake.
Cheese: Cheese is not only rich in calories but also provides additional protein. Add it to sandwiches, salads, or enjoy it as a snack.
Granola: Granola is a calorie-dense option that can be added to yogurt, cereal, or enjoyed as a standalone snack.
Meal Planning Techniques for Optimal Weight Gain
Effective meal planning is key to gaining weight fast and efficiently. Consider the following techniques to ensure your meals support your weight gain goals:
Frequency: Aim for 4-6 smaller meals throughout the day rather than sticking to 3 larger meals. This approach helps ensure a consistent calorie intake.
Snacks: Incorporate snacks between meals to increase overall calorie intake. Choose calorie-dense options like protein bars, trail mix, or Greek yogurt with fruits and nuts.
Preparation: Preparing your meals and snacks in advance can help you stay on track with your weight gain goals. Consider meal prepping on weekends and portioning out your meals for the week.
Protein Timing: Distribute your protein intake evenly throughout the day to support muscle growth and repair. Include protein-rich foods or supplements in each meal.
By following these nutritional tips, incorporating calorie-dense foods, and implementing effective meal planning techniques, you can optimize your diet for fast weight gain. Remember to consult a healthcare professional or registered dietitian for personalized recommendations.
Supplementing for Weight Gain
When it comes to gaining weight, a well-rounded nutrition plan is essential. In addition to a healthy diet, incorporating the right supplements can help accelerate your weight gain journey. In this section, we will explore the best weight gain supplements in the market that can complement your diet and support your goals.
Protein Powders: Protein is a key nutrient for building muscle mass and promoting weight gain. Supplementing with protein powders can provide a convenient and efficient way to increase your daily protein intake. Look for high-quality protein powders that are rich in essential amino acids to enhance muscle growth and support weight gain.
Weight Gainers: Weight gainer supplements are specifically designed to provide a concentrated source of calories and nutrients. These products typically contain a blend of carbohydrates, proteins, and fats to help you meet your calorie goals. Choose weight gainers that are tailored to your specific needs and preferences.
Omega-3 Fatty Acids: Omega-3 fatty acids are not only beneficial for overall health but can also support weight gain. These healthy fats can help increase appetite, reduce inflammation, and improve nutrient absorption. Incorporate omega-3 supplements, such as fish oil or algae-based supplements, into your daily routine to optimize your weight gain efforts.

Incorporating Exercise for Muscle Gain
When it comes to gaining weight quickly and effectively, exercise plays a crucial role in accelerating the weight gain process. While proper nutrition is essential, incorporating a well-rounded workout routine can help you build lean muscle mass and increase your body weight.
Effective Workout Routines
There are various workout routines that can speed up weight gain and promote muscle growth. High-intensity interval training (HIIT) is an excellent option as it combines short bursts of intense exercise with brief recovery periods, effectively stimulating muscle development and calorie burning.
Strength training exercises are also highly beneficial for gaining weight rapidly. By engaging in compound exercises such as squats, deadlifts, bench presses, and shoulder presses, you can target multiple muscle groups simultaneously, promoting overall muscle growth and weight gain.
Tips for Gaining Weight Rapidly
Progressive Overload: To maximize muscle gain, gradually increase the intensity of your workouts by adding weight, increasing repetitions, or decreasing rest periods. This progressive overload technique helps to continuously challenge your muscles and stimulate growth.
Focus on Major Muscle Groups: Targeting major muscle groups like the chest, back, legs, and shoulders during your workouts can lead to faster weight gain. These larger muscle groups require more energy and effort, resulting in greater muscle stimulation and growth.
Proper Form and Technique: Ensure that you use proper form and technique during your exercises to avoid injuries and effectively target the intended muscle groups. If needed, seek guidance from a certified fitness professional.
Rest and Recovery: Allow your body adequate time to rest and recover between workouts. Overtraining can hinder muscle growth and lead to fatigue. Aim for at least 48 hours of recovery between sessions targeting the same muscle group.
By incorporating these tips into your workout routine, you can achieve visible muscle gain and accelerate your weight gain journey. Remember to listen to your body and make adjustments as needed to suit your individual needs and goals.

Balancing Caloric Intake and Expenditure
When it comes to fast weight gain, finding the right balance between caloric intake and expenditure is crucial. In order to achieve your weight gain goals, it's important to understand how to calculate your daily energy needs and make the most of your calorie intake. We're here to provide you with effective tips and tricks for quick weight gain that will help you reach your desired results.
Calculating Your Daily Energy Needs
Before you can effectively balance your caloric intake and expenditure, it's essential to determine how many calories your body needs each day. There are various formulas you can use to calculate this, such as the Harris-Benedict equation or the Mifflin-St. Jeor equation. These equations take into account factors like your age, gender, weight, height, and activity level.
"Understanding your daily energy needs is the first step towards achieving rapid weight gain."
By calculating your daily energy needs, you'll have a baseline number of calories to aim for in order to gain weight. However, keep in mind that this number is just an estimate and may need to be adjusted over time based on your progress and individual metabolism. It's always a good idea to consult with a healthcare professional or registered dietitian for personalized guidance.
Maximizing Calorie Intake for Weight Gain
Once you've determined your daily energy needs, you can focus on maximizing your calorie intake to promote fast weight gain. Here are some effective methods:
Eat nutrient-dense foods: Choose calorie-dense foods that are also rich in nutrients. This includes foods like nuts, avocados, nut butter, olive oil, whole grains, and lean protein sources.
Incorporate snacks: Snacking throughout the day can help increase your calorie intake. Opt for high-calorie snacks like trail mix, protein bars, yogurt with granola, or smoothies.
Drink calorie-rich beverages: Replace low-calorie drinks with calorie-rich options like milk, smoothies, fruit juices, or meal replacement shakes.
Tips for Quick Weight Gain
In addition to maximizing your calorie intake, there are other tips and tricks you can implement to accelerate your weight gain journey:
Eat more frequently: Instead of sticking to three big meals, try eating smaller, more frequent meals throughout the day to increase your overall calorie consumption.
Focus on strength training: Incorporate regular strength training exercises into your fitness routine. Building muscle mass can help you gain weight more rapidly and increase your overall body weight.
Stay consistent: Consistency is key when it comes to gaining weight quickly. Stick to your nutrition and exercise plan, and don't be discouraged by any temporary plateaus or setbacks.
By applying these fast weight gain tips and tricks, you'll be on your way to achieving your weight gain goals in no time. Remember to listen to your body, prioritize your overall health, and consult with professionals for personalized guidance. Let's work together to make your weight gain journey a success!

Optimizing Meal Frequency and Timing
When it comes to gaining weight rapidly and naturally, the timing and frequency of your meals play a crucial role. By optimizing these factors, you can maximize nutrient absorption and promote quick ways to increase body weight.
The Importance of Spacing Out Meals
Spacing out your meals evenly throughout the day can help ensure a steady flow of nutrients to support weight gain. Instead of consuming three large meals, consider dividing your calorie intake into smaller, more frequent meals. This approach allows your body to efficiently utilize the nutrients, providing the necessary fuel to gain weight quickly and naturally.
Incorporating Snacks for Enhanced Caloric Intake
In addition to regular meals, incorporating snacks between your main meals can further boost your caloric intake. Opt for nutrient-dense snacks that are rich in healthy fats, protein, and carbohydrates. Snacking on foods such as nuts, nut butter, yogurt, granola bars, or fruit can provide the extra calories needed to gain weight rapidly.
Optimizing Nutrient Absorption
To optimize nutrient absorption and promote fast and natural weight gain, pay attention to the timing of your meals. Aim to consume protein-rich foods before or after a workout session to support muscle growth and repair. Additionally, including complex carbohydrates before physical activity can provide your body with the energy it needs to perform at its best.
Remember, gaining weight quickly and naturally requires a strategic approach to meal frequency and timing. By spacing out your meals, incorporating snacks, and optimizing nutrient absorption, you can effectively increase body weight in a healthy, sustainable manner.
Overcoming Challenges and Plateaus
Gaining weight rapidly may come with its fair share of challenges and plateaus. It's important to be aware of these obstacles and have strategies in place to overcome them. By staying focused and making adjustments along the way, you can ensure consistent progress towards achieving fast and healthy weight gain. Here are some tips for gaining weight quickly:
1. Monitor Your Caloric Intake
Tracking your calorie intake is essential for achieving fast weight gain. Aim to consume more calories than your body needs to maintain its current weight. Include calorie-dense foods in your diet such as nuts, avocados, and full-fat dairy products to increase your overall calorie intake.
2. Adjust Your Macronutrient Ratio
Your macronutrient ratio plays a crucial role in weight gain. Increase your intake of healthy fats, proteins, and carbohydrates to fuel your body and support muscle growth. Opt for lean sources of protein like poultry, fish, and legumes, and incorporate whole grains and complex carbohydrates into your meals.
3. Stay Consistent with Meal Timing
Eating regular meals and snacks throughout the day can help you maintain a positive calorie balance and prevent energy dips. Aim to have meals and snacks every 2 to 3 hours to keep your metabolism active and support efficient weight gain.
4. Incorporate Strength Training
To gain weight quickly and build muscle mass, include regular strength training exercises in your fitness routine. Focus on compound exercises that target multiple muscle groups, and gradually increase the weight and intensity of your workouts over time.

Why Organic Elderberry Syrup is a Must-Have for Immune Support
Why Organic Elderberry Syrup is a Must-Have for Immune Support
Why Organic Elderberry Syrup is a Must-Have for Immune Support
Let’s get right to the point. Shall we? Elderberry has been scientifically proven to support the activation of the immune system and prevent the replication of viruses, as well as being active against bacteria. Full stop. Do you need to read that again? Elderberries have some pretty amazing benefits. It’s no wonder I always have a bottle of our organic Elderberry Syrup in the fridge for the first sign of sniffles or scratchy throat. In addition to all the modern research, Elderberry has been used for centuries to treat upper respiratory infections and support health in the wintertime when we seem more susceptible to these bugs. Here are the major takeaways about Elderberry (a plant in the sambucus family with multiple genuses, including nigra) from study results published in scholarly journals on PubMed. Proven to inhibit the infectious activity of viruses (PMID: 26645032) In a study with influenza A & B symptoms were relieved on average 4 days earlier with Elderberry Syrup (PMID: 15080016) Significant reduction of cold duration and severity (PMID: 27023596) Shown to inhibit the viral replication and block the virus attachment of human coronavirus NL63 (HCoV-NL63) (PMID: 31560964) Water-derived elderberry extracts induce potent immune-modulatory effects, which represents the basis for a strong immune-mediated response to viruses including influenza compared to alcohol extracts that do not do this. (PMID: 35409309) Stimulates immune response and prevents viral infection (PMID: 22972323) Inhibits replication of influenza A, B, swine flu and turkey flu, significant improvement of the symptoms within 2 days, complete cure in 2-3 days in 90% compared to up to 6 days in the placebo (PMID: 9395631) Most of the research focuses on viruses (influenza A, B, swine flu, common cold, and recently coronavirus), but there’s also examples of elderberry protecting against bacterial infections. Active against human pathogenic bacteria (Gram-positive bacteria of Streptococcus pyogenes and group C and G Streptococci, and the Gram-negative bacterium Branhamella catarrhalisas) well as influenza viruses (PMID: 21352539) Ok, so if you want to go down the scientific study of elderberry rabbit hole, click any of the links above and read on to your heart's content. Want to know more about the plant itself and some of its more magical qualities? Stay with me. Black Elder (Sambucus nigra) is a shrub that can easily grow into a tree. It grows in Europe and North America, tolerating many environments and enjoying full sun. Each spring it produces clusters of tiny cream colored flowers called elderflowers. These flowers can connect us to the realm of above and fairies, and they have a strong connection to children, representing purity and innocence. Elderflowers tend to be gentle, yet profound. Then as the heat of summer arrives, the flowers wither and the berries ripen. Depending on the genus of the plant they range in color from a dusty light blue to a deep, dark purple. The berries are typically dried and then extracted in water (sometimes glycerine or alcohol), though as referenced above, water extraction is the superior method. Anthocyanins in the elderberries turn the water a deep purple and these are the compounds that stimulate and support our immune, respiratory systems and more. Elderberries are not sweet on their own. They have an affinity for the root and heart chakras, promoting a sense of being centered and open simultaneously. Which makes sense to me because when I am feeling vibrant and healthy I also feel centered and open, and elderberry helps bring us back to vibrant health. I hope you learned something new reading this. Let me know if you have any questions about Elder.

Note
"No!" Will exclaimed, trying with all this might to keep the takeaway cup away from Delia. "This is my coffee!"
"Oh, you're lucky we're in public..."
Because that warranted a spanking. Will can't share a bit of coffee with her, when she was suffering from quitting caffiene cold turkey? But then, this was a way he showed his care for Delia, helping her with her coffee addiction. That's not where her focus was, though.
"Hm, come here," she tugged Will closer and licked a droplet of coffee on his soft lips. "Tastes exactly how I remember..."
