Let us take a moment to remember our Tsar Martyr Nicholas II who 106 years ago, on the night of July 16-17, was murdered along with his immediate family and four of their faithful retinue in a dismal basement in Yekaterinburg.
May you rest in peace, Tsar Nicholas, and your beloved wife and beautiful children. The burdens you had to bear were too heavy for an earthly crown, but now you have a heavenly kingdom to inherit.
Forgive them father for they know not what they do.

"OTMA and Alexei. The Children of the Last Russian Emperor." Exhibit at the Hermitage.
This is the name of an exhibit that opened on 19th May 2023, in the Small Hermitage, in the State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg. The exhibition was originally planned to be held in the Hermitage-Amsterdam. However, it was cancelled due to EU sanctions against Russia.
Reading about it and looking at pictures from the beautiful catalog was very exciting. How I would love to be there to see it! Then I thought, wait, why not get a catalog? I have gotten them before, in the mail, from museums as far as Germany. Sometimes catalogs for this type of exhibition are sold by some of the specialty bookstores. Well...I searched by the IBSN number through the places I go to for my less common "Romanov" books, and nothing. Maybe it is too soon; the exhibit is still open.
So I had another brilliant idea...why not e-mail the gift shop at the Hermitage? I have done this with other museums for the same purpose, and they have helped. I did get to chat with someone who told me that the catalogs are only hand delivered via a courier and not sent out of the country. He gave me an e-mail address to put in a request. Who knows? Somebody might decide to honor it. The regular price of the catalog is $20 if you go see the exhibit or are in Russia. I (and any international customers) would have to pay $1,500. One-thousand-five-hundred-dollars.
I do not have the budget to buy a catalog for $1500, but I will take this to its conclusion... let us see if my e-mail gets an answer. I think this is quite a crazy tale.
I collected some pictures of the exhibit here and there and am sharing them with you here. That is all I can do! We have seen most of these articles but still...
If anybody in Saint Petersburg reads this, please, please contact me (I so want that catalog.)
This is the cover of the catalog
Above, you can see the only picture of Olga I have found wearing a Kokoshnik similar to the one in the photographs (which is part of the exhibit). I do not think it is the same Kokoshnik, but I included the picture anyway because Olga is wearing a typical boyarina outfit (which I have not seen her in before) (gcl)

The more elevated a person is, the sooner that person should help everyone and never in fellowship remind everyone of their position. My children should be like that.

u keep reblogging photos of this duchesse or royal family. not sure what they are. or who for that matter. so who are they?? I find it so interesting cuz never heard of them?? what's your fascination w these people??
Mostly what I reblog is of the Russian Imperial Family. I love royals, royal genealogy, and royal history. (Nothing pisses me off more than Harry, the one married to the narcissist and now lives in a America, who in his stupidly titled book ‘Spare’ mentions how he is a seven time great grandson of Henry VI… lemme tell you right fucking now… that’s impossible. Why? Because Henry VI had only one son with Isabella of France, one Edward of Westminster and Prince of Wales, but he was killed at 17 at the Battle of Tewkesbury and had not fathered any children and therefore there are no direct living descendants of Henry VI and if I, an unrelated American, knows that, someone like Harry who is related, and has all the time in the world to learn about his own royal history, should know that…) I digress…
The House of Romanov is my most favorite royal house and the last Imperial family in particular. The Grand Duchesses are the daughter of Nicholas II last Tsar and Emperor of Russia. великая княгиня (pronounced: velikaia knazhna) is their title in Russian and while it’s usually translated in English has “Grand Duchess” it’s more accurately “Grand Princess”. There were four daughters born to Nicholas by his wife Empress Alexandra Feodorovna, née Princess Alix of Hesse and by Rhine, their names were Olga Nikolaevna, Tatiana Nikolaevna, Maria Nikolaevna, and Anastasia Nikolaevna. They also had one son, the youngest, named Alexei Nikolaevich. As you know, towards the end of WWI, Russia had a successful, deeply regretful, revolution and Nicholas II was deposed and soon he and his family were placed into house arrest where eventually, a little over a year later, they were brutally murdered in the basement of the Ipatiev House known as the “House of Special Purpose”, which was torn down in the late 70s to prevent people from using it as a pilgrimage site for the overthrown Russian Imperial family, and since the dissolution of the soviet regime, now has a massive Orthodox Church on the site called The Church on Blood in honor of the last imperial family who were made canonized saints in the Eastern Orthodox Church and especially within the Russian Orthodox Church.
I’m a monarchist so you could say my fascination lies there, but it does go deeper than that. I love Russia, Russian culture, the language, the history… and am very partial to Imperial Russia. Therefore I’m a steadfast defender of Nicholas II and the last of the imperial family. While they have mostly been rehabilitated in modern times there still exist inaccuracies and falsehoods told about the family, him in particular, daily. I will defend his memory and the memory of his family whom were murdered alongside him in some dank, earthy, wet basement in Yekaterinburg, for no other reason besides they wanted someone to blame and decided to blame the innocents.
Thank you so much for your ask! I hope that helps!
