dont you have any new walter hcs?:)
I do! Oh, how wonderful it is for you to ask <3 I've been thinking a lot about this guy since classes have started but these trains of thought are often broken into two categories: canon-related and self-indulgence. So, I'll try to break those into the two categories here as well <3
Canon-related
Walter's skills in gun smithing is mostly self-taught and a skill he picked up after the War as it gave him something to do, especially in the 'slow season' for vampire hunting.
He has three spaces that are truly 'his': the butler's pantry, the gun shop, and his in-house room.
Butler's pantry: his office and main 'headquarters' when he's on the clock but not in direct need. It is spick and span, being the place Alucard frequents as he is not often allowed in the other two spaces. Gun shop: connected to the Hellsing military compound, the gun shop is spotless, covered in tools and half complete guns perfectly stored away. Walter runs the shop exclusively but will sometimes employ the help of Hellsing ballistic team and eventually Seras is welcomed into the shop to learn the upkeep of her own precious artillery. The shop is huge, leading to the Hellsing hangar, and is rarely dirty. Should it be, it is a tell-tale sign he's been at work for more than a few hours. In-house: Walter could have moved off-site and away from the Hellsing Estate after he graduated university but Arthur wouldn't see it. As an active member of both Hellsing's house function and vampiric division, having Walter away and not on a 24/7 function would be detrimental to the service, on both ends. His room is a chambre de bonne, hidden at the top of the estate below the attics and is the one of four staff living quarters left in the building's infrastructure. It is sparse, articulate, and has many a war decorations, uniforms, pictures, awards, degrees, and trinkets of life hidden in various spots.
Arthur has tried to get this man married a lot, failing each time.
His discovery of his ability to puppeteer people was a 'crime of passion' moment in his development of skill. Arthur was not particularly pleased about this skill and asked Walter to never use it again unless in great duress. He would hone this ability in private and refuses to disclose how.
Atop puppeteering, the wires have a broad array of funciton once he mastered them. He can pick up objects, throw things, abseiling/rappelling, climb up things, 'Spiderman' his way around, build shields, lay tripwires/traps, sew/temporarily stitch, and can be used to sense things around him when devoid of sight (vibrations).
He and Integra's favorite activity is doing Sudoku. They'd often do as many puzzles as they could while Arthur was in meetings or at Conference breakfasts.
Self-Indulgence
Walter is maternally a Seward, giving him connections to the Crew of Light and thus the van Helsing name. His mother is Seward's only daughter. It is his 'Seward blood' that allows him to command the Monofilament Wires
The Monofilament Wires were developed by both the Sewards and the van Helsings in the Amsterdam, Netherlands. The secret of their usage is maintained by the Seward line, being a sworn generation passed trick of the vampire hunting trade.
Hellsing was much smaller an organization in the 50s-60s, making Walter and Alucard the sole operatives save for a few footmen/military command and a cleanup crew - because of this, Walter had a multitude of jobs regarding Hellsing's underbelly save for just hunting.
Killing was of course Walter's primary Hellsing non-domestic function, this is a given. His other functions included forms of espionage, diplomacy errands on behalf of Arthur, and surveillance. His extracurricular activities for Hellsing were mostly to quell his boredom following the intense decrease in direct violence following WWII and the political climate of the Cold War (please ask me about my Hellsing x Cold War thoughts). His work in espionage was mostly limited to his career from 1950 to 1965, ranging from straight spying (on vampiric forces AND humans), information collection, extortion, blackmail, and collection of dirt. He'd attend parties, rub elbows with wealthy daughters or diplomats, and protect the Hellsing image by any means necessary on a political field.
He has two favorite guns from his career: the Leiden and the Pandora. Both of which he has either made or modified. Leiden is a 1948 Jungle Carbine No. 5 Mk I, dyed and buffed a matte black. Pandora is a 1968 Ruger M77 MK II .270 WIN, modified with a longer barrel and a weighted stock. He doesn't always use guns, but he tenderly loves his rifles, especially bolt action.
Thanks for tuning in to the yap session, I like this guy a lot.

Im not watching the Last of Us cause I don’t have HBO, but I’m seeing the gifs you post. Can you tell me the story about the two gay men?
Ah, Bill and Frank, my angels!
So the main story of The Last of Us is a cross-country road trip through a world devastated by zombies a fungal infection. The actual protagonists of the show, Joel and Ellie, are barely in this episode at all. It's just a short film about two men loving each other.
Spoilers under the cut.
When the world ends in 2003, everyone in Bill's town is rounded up and sent to a Quarantine Zone (or shot because dead people can't spread an infection.) Bill, however, is a doomsday prepper "survivalist," who is not going to follow the orders of the "new world order jackboot fucks." He hides undetected in his bunker, and emerges into an abandoned town that is pretty much his kingdom.
For years, Bill lives it up alone. He makes a point early on to raid gas stations and the Home Depot for supplies. He sets up defenses--tripwires and electrified fences and traps to keep out zombies and humans. He grows his own food and eats rabbit in wine sauce. You get the sense that this is the life he's been waiting for.
(It's worth noting that Bill is played by Nick Offerman, so there's a lot of Ron Swanson energy in this scenario.)
Four years after Outbreak Day, Bill hears an alarm from one of his traps. There's a man caught in a pit. He's a refugee from one of the Quarantine Zones. He's alone, unarmed, and starving. Bill is not normally a person who would help others (obviously) but there's something about this guy, this Frank. So Bill offers him lunch.
The bulk of the courtship happens during and after this lunch. There are too many beautiful, tiny details to mention. Nick Offerman deserves a fucking EGOT for this role. (You heard me right, he deserves an Oscar, a Grammy, and a Tony award for a single episode of TV.) He is so scared and unsure and wanting. And Frank is so gentle and tender with Bill's feelings. Like, they share each other. And they know each other. And it's so beautiful.
It's also super meaningful in terms of queer representation to have an intimate scene between two older men. Their bodies are not pretty. These are hairy, middle-aged men, in a world where showers are pretty rare. But in their love they are absolutely beautiful.
And they spend the rest of their lives together. They argue, they make friends, they plant strawberries, they save each other's lives from invading hordes. They grow old. At some point, Frank succumbs to a disease that leaves him confined to a wheelchair, and Bill takes care of him. Bill has always taken care of Frank. He tells him, "You were my purpose."
In the end, Frank decides that he wants to have one last perfect day before he ends his life. He tells Bill what they're going to do. They're going to get dressed up, they're going to walk through the town they made, the home they built together. They're going to get married. (Remember this is functionally in 2003. Gay marriage wasn't a thing anywhere in the US.) Bill's going to make dinner, and put some pills in Frank's wine. He will fall asleep in Bill's arms for the last time.
Bill goes along with this, except for the end. In the end, he takes the same pills he gives Frank. He tells him that he is satisfied with his life, that he doesn't need any more than what they've had together. "This isn't the tragic suicide at the end of the play."
They got to grow old together. They got to decide the time and nature of their deaths. In a world starving for joy, they got to have all of it. They had art and beauty and love and peace. They had everything. Because they had each other.

Can you envision Future You attending our OCTOBER 25th CreativeMornings Winnipeg event?
We would love to welcome you at 8:15-9:45am at Launch Co-Working in the Exchange District to explore the CreativeMornings global monthly theme of VISION!
** ASL Interpretation is available at CM WPG events!
We will explore the theme of VISION through performance, creative engagement (introvert-approved) and a short talk.
"The Power of a Creative Vision Story" presented by Doug Darling
How do you get people to feel the excitement of where you’re headed? How do you get your team to buy-in to your next big step? How do you get people to get excited about the future? By using the power of Story, you can have people not just understand your Vision, but feel it. This is how you create action.
MEET OUR SPEAKER: Doug Darling
Doug Darling is the founder of Tripwire Media Group, an award-winning video production company that specializes in storytelling. He is skilled in the art and science of story and teaches others how to harness its useful power. From coaching classes of students across the world, to training companies on the Science of Storytelling, to embarking on a new journey in securing legacy stories for those we love most — Doug truly has a passion for storytelling and what it can do for people and organizations.
Exploring the CreativeMornings theme of VISION
Our theme for October is VISION. It was chosen by our Riyadh chapter in Saudi Arabia and illustrated by Razan Alshalan.
You are your own visionary. What do you want to see? How do you see the world? How do you want to change it?
Vision refers both to the sense of sight and our ability to imagine the future. Are you focused on the little details? Can you see the big picture?
Each creative act involves seeing something in your mind’s eye then attempting to make it a reality. A painter, an architect, and every other type of artist or craftsman has a vision for their work. What message, emotion, or impact do you want to convey in yours?

Someday I'll Love Ocean Vuong by Ocean Vuong
Ocean Vuong, a poet and essayist, is the author of Night Sky with Exit Wounds, which won the 2016 Whiting Award.
---
My love for this poet and his book Night Sky With Exit Wounds runs deep. This poem came to me at a time when I was struggling with self-love and care. Two things I could always be better at and struggle with constantly. I make mistakes but I get better every day in part because of people like Ocean Vuong who are excellent teachers.
Hear him read this amazing poem on The New Yorker’s website, here, where the poem was featured in the May 4, 2015, issue.
---
After Frank O’Hara / After Roger Reeves
Ocean, don’t be afraid. The end of the road is so far ahead it is already behind us. Don’t worry. Your father is only your father until one of you forgets. Like how the spine won’t remember its wings no matter how many times our knees kiss the pavement. Ocean, are you listening? The most beautiful part of your body is wherever your mother’s shadow falls. Here’s the house with childhood whittled down to a single red tripwire. Don’t worry. Just call it horizon & you’ll never reach it. Here’s today. Jump. I promise it’s not a lifeboat. Here’s the man whose arms are wide enough to gather your leaving. & here the moment, just after the lights go out, when you can still see the faint torch between his legs. How you use it again & again to find your own hands. You asked for a second chance & are given a mouth to empty into. Don’t be afraid, the gunfire is only the sound of people trying to live a little longer. Ocean. Ocean, get up. The most beautiful part of your body is where it’s headed. & remember, loneliness is still time spent with the world. Here’s the room with everyone in it. Your dead friends passing through you like wind through a wind chime. Here’s a desk with the gimp leg & a brick to make it last. Yes, here’s a room so warm & blood-close, I swear, you will wake— & mistake these walls for skin.

Active Defense protects customers from advanced threats
Active Defense to Google Cloud users
Everyone who uses Google Cloud, from beginners to expert users, should make security their top concern. Because to our cooperation with Acalvio, we are able to provide Active Defense to Google Cloud users. This service streamlines deception management and deployment and just requires a short onboarding process.
An overview of the architecture
The award-winning autonomous deception technology that is included in Acalvio’s proprietary Active Defense platform enables enterprises to identify, engage, and react to hostile behavior in cloud, on-premises, and hybrid networks.
ShadowPlex is able to misdirect hostile actors by providing them with tripwire baits, bread crumbs containing bogus credentials, and decoys of potentially attackable systems or applications. Any engagement with the deception platform will cause a high-fidelity alert to be generated. On Google Cloud, Acalvio offers enterprise-scale distributed deception for customers.
Active Defense from Acalvio is comprised of the client workload projection sensors for point-of-presence as well as the ShadowPlex service from Google Cloud. Deceptions are projected over dispersed and hybrid business networks by the centralized ShadowPlex service.
ShadowPlex decoy projection may be enabled by using sensors, which are lightweight components that can be put in business networks both on-premises and in cloud workloads. ShadowPlex enables deception on distant workstations that are not linked to the company network, making it possible for employees to operate remotely. It makes use of a global sensor hosted on Google Cloud.
The development of ShadowPlex on Google Cloud
ShadowPlex is able to deploy thousands of enterprise-scale deceptions throughout the customer’s network using Google Cloud for efficient Active Defense. The proprietary Fluid Deception technology developed by Acalvio boosts decoy density and interaction in environments with rigorous confinement. This enables the engagement of safe attacks and the optimization of resources.
ShadowPlex is able to warn clients about deception situations because to its integration with Google Cloud Security Command Center (SCC). Customers of Google Cloud will also get SCC emails encouraging them to consider adding Active Defense security to projects that are not ShadowPlex.
The point-of-presence for Acalvio’s Active Defense is provided via the ShadowPlex service hosted on Google Cloud as well as projection sensors embedded into client workloads. ShadowPlex is a deception hosting and projection platform that operates across hybrid and dispersed business networks.
Both on-premises and in the cloud, the ShadowPlex service is able to project decoys in business networks using lightweight sensors as the source of the projections. ShadowPlex enables deception on distant workstations that are not linked to the company network, which makes it possible for users to work from home. It is powered by a worldwide sensor hosted on Google Cloud.
The role that Google Cloud plays in powering ShadowPlex
ShadowPlex is able to effectively deploy thousands of enterprise-scale deceptions throughout the customer’s network by using Google Cloud. High levels of decoy density, interaction, and confinement are all provided by the proprietary Fluid Deception technology developed by Acalvio. This allows for secure assaults while at the same time optimizing the usage of resources.
Customers are notified of deception occurrences through ShadowPlex when the Google Cloud Security Command Center (SCC) issues an alert. Customers of Google Cloud who get SCC notices will also be encouraged to consider adding Active Defense protection to projects that are not protected by ShadowPlex.
The Google Cloud Chronicle Security Operations platform may be integrated with ShadowPlex. Customers of Chronicle have the ability to set the sending of deception occurrences and the correlation of such events with other alerts.
For internal operations, such as VirusTotal data enrichment, database administration and processing, and GKE threat analysis, ShadowPlex employs services provided by Google Cloud.
Combo is better
The deception-based Active Defense from Acalvio is available for purchase via the Google Cloud Marketplace. Clients will be able to get Active Defense’s prompt, accurate, and up-to-date identification of the most current sophisticated threats, as well as the necessary response, thanks to this partnership.
Acalvio ShadowPlex from Google Cloud now provides security to customers’ on-premises infrastructure in addition to providing Active Defense to workloads hosted in Google Cloud. The installation and maintenance of deception across on-premises networks is accomplished with the help of Google Cloud, leading to an increase in Google Cloud use.

the more like visually realistic video games get the more apparent the brain worms become like. I'm playing battlefield V again and something about hearing my little soldier guys blood curdling death scream as hes covered in napalm while simultaneously being posthumously awarded with gamer points (used for unlocking better gamer snacks) for blowing a mans legs off with a tripwire bomb all set to this bombastic spielbergian score and its all so like. ok wtf is this. I feel like I'm being conditioned it's awesome

AFTER ACTION REPORT - 09/30/626
1A moved west from Northwatch Hold through the jungle overgrowth of the Southern Barrens in an attempt to establish FOB Forward Command.
When we reached the edge of the jungle, an abandoned camp was found littered with debris but nothing useful. RCT Laderson Williams was wounded by an IED which was in the guise of a stuffed teddy bear but was treated by PVT Raelinda Silvershine before we moved on.
Traversing through the jungle proved difficult. We were stopped when RCT Rexinald Whitefield noticed a tripwire, which was attached to two AP mines. I ordered MSG Zalra Azurestar to deactivate the mines due to her training as an engineer.
While we were waiting on MSG Azurestar, a pack of raptors happened upon us and wounded a couple of soldiers. Once more PVT Silvershine was able to tend to them, including MSG Azurestar who tripped the wire during the raptor attack.
Continuing on, we found a plagued water source near the edge of the jungle. Gas masks were ordered on and I recommend the water source be treated by Druids and Shaman as soon as possible to slow the spread and heal the earth.
Once out of the jungle, the troops established FOB Forward Command. We occupied the FOB for several hours until PVT Silvershine was shot in the head by an unseen sniper after RCT Branford Reid saluted her in the field. She was put into critical condition and evacuated back to Northwatch as soon as we were able to do so safely.
The sniper was located and captured alive after a brief firefight.
I am recommending PVT Silvershine be awarded both the Physician's Medal for assisting in healing several soldiers during the action as well as the King's Cross for wounds sustained.
I am also recommending PVT Quinn Mac'aSionnach receive the Physician's Medal for assistance in saving PVT Silvershine's life.
