Reading the official translation of the Manga and Adeuce mentions how weird Yuukens name is and seems to have a hard time pronouncing it and call him Yu instead.
But what if we take this further and say that Yu, though easy to pronounce– is also a weirdass name or is also difficult to pronounce cause the language difference and shit. Like maybe 'Y' is silent so they have to guess on how to pronounce "U" when reading it out (is it like 'you' or ooo?). Maybe it's a sound that is never used in names.
Idk just a thought

I think that ce serait vraiment génial qu’il y ait des libros escritos en más de una lengua para qu’on puisse train ourselves to do fast-paced switching between different languages. Y no estoy hablando de libros “bilingües” como los que tienen una página en un idioma y la próxima en otro sino d’un livre qui mélangerait les langues together directly in a single text like celui-là.

"Fame è il mio secondo nome."
I love when the non-english versions of the movie give me heartbreaking characterizations not as barebones apparent* in the original. what do you mean he's not just "definitely hungry." what do you mean he's hungry so much that he uses the phrase usually reserved for things you're really good at/often find yourself feeling/do a lot ("danger is my middle name" "pizza is my middle name".)
Am i reading too much into this? yeah 100% definitely. dooooooonnnt careeee.
*because tbh you don't need to do much analyzing or digging to come to the conclusion that Alberto likely has a lot of malnourishment going on, but this kinda pushes it to the front
(also, luca infantalizes himself in a lot of the dubs (a lot being the Thai and Italian one, I should check the Spanish one though since I actually know that language) which I could also talk about for a significant amount of time)

Here is what I share with Jean Moreau : I'm French and the only word I did not understand in the book was the exact one he asked the meaning for.
Thank you Jean for asking what is the translation of pouffiasses in english, now I feel better, we struggle together.

I downloaded a new app for learning German because Duolingo actually started driving me insane and I know it’s the jump from most used nouns to just generally whatever nouns they felt like putting on here… But 242 feels a little excessive for one section. Can we not pace this a little slower please? This is just scary 😂.

Trilingual(+) with no idea what language learning goals to set for 2025 and/or no particular desire to set any? With various degrees in range of expression/accuracy in your L1-L3 and level discrepancies across the 4 skills, vocab and grammar?
Consider changing up your factory settings and shifting them after a certain time period (3, 4, 6 months...) or establish them as your go-to default for the year at large.
L1 - listening to music/podcasts & hobbies
L2 - reading/writing (including fanfiction, device language, etc.)
L3 - watching videos/films/series (and/or making them, if that's your thing)

Half-Korean Mattsun is entering my domain.
His mom is half-Korean, and an expatriate (though high-end white collar worker) who came to work in Japan and married Mattsun's dad. Mattsun inherited his curly hair and tanned skin from his mom.
Even though they have Korean blood, they never watch any K-drama or listen to Kpop.
Mattsun's mom is good at English (obv due to the nature of her job) and his dad is good at it too. So their family became a sorta multi-language-y household, where both English, Korean, and Japanese are exchanged. Mattsun is fluent in English because of that, but he's most fluent in Japanese (Korean comes third).
Mattsun, Iwa, and Oikawa are fluent in English (they probably speak more than English and Japanese). Oikawa has a language ability (Japanese, Portuguese, English, Spanish), Iwa is half-Filipino and has Filipino American relatives (so he speaks Japanese, Filipino, some Chinese, English), even though his mom speaks only Japanese to him and his dad, and Mattsun's home uses a lot of languages. Hanamaki has no idea what's going on whenever these three speaks English, but he finds that they are very useful to travel with. He's proud because having 3 trilingual friends where trilingualism is uncommon is a pretty good feat.
