Just to be clear I firmly stand by the Grisha as a persecuted group that got so much shit for centuries and they deserve every good and kind thing in the world.
Just because they are "privileged" as Bardugo calls them (which means to have special rights and immunity because of your rank) didn't stop the King from sexually assaulting Genya, drüskelle from killing them or being kidnapped and subjected to experiments. They had food on their table and a roof above their head which is what every human being should have but they were never treated as human beings or equals which is what they desired the most.
It's one thing to be "privileged" and another to being fed and the next minute you get either spit on by Ravkans or killed by witchhunters. That's not privilege. That's some superficial alliance that can get them killed any day.

I've been thinking about the tragedy of Elizabeth Woodville living to see the end of her family name.
I don't mean her family with her husband, which lived on through her daughter and grandson. I mean her own.
Her sisters died, one by one, many of them after 1485. When Elizabeth died, only Katherine was left, and she would die before the turn of the century as well.
All her brothers died, too. Lewis died in childhood. John was executed. Anthony was murdered. Lionel died suddenly in the peak of Richard's reign, unable to see his niece become queen. Edward perished at war. Richard died in grieving peace. For all the violence and judgement the family endured, it was "an accident of biology" that ended their line: none of the brothers left heirs, and the Woodville name was extinguished. We know the family was aware of this. We know they mourned it, too:
“Buy a bell to be a tenor at Grafton to the bells now there, for a remembrance of the last of my blood.”
Elizabeth lived through the deposition and death of her young sons, and lived to see the end of her own family name. It must have been such a haunting loss, on both sides.

you know how caleo shouldve ended? not together
first of all, where is the romance. they have all the banter and none of the cutes (except in the like, what, one/two scenes calypso tells someone not to attack leo in toa? i barely even remember)
theyre more like. siblings honestly
leo x jason and echo x calypso shouldve obv been canon 😞 (/j thats not the poijt here but i do love both ships)
they have totally different things they want in life
calypso wants to finally live it. she's spent so long on that gods forsaken island isolated, and she now finally has a chance to actually do shit !!! be a contributing member of society !! figure out who she is, what she wants, what to do with the rest of her life !!!
leo is finally done running. he's found his home: the waystation, chb, piper, not-dead-jason. he deserves to rest after everything he's been put through, and so he will; live life comfortably, finally stay in one place, have a stable family with unconditional love he so needs !!!
literally midnight rain by tswift
calypso deserves to go out and live her life, leo deserves to sit back and enjoy his
which is why they should go their seperate ways and at most be friends !!! (or siblings depending on waystation hcs <3)

Rose: I like the term "gallows humor" because it always makes me think of someone getting sentenced to death and being like "I have GOT to be the funniest person at my public execution"

I always loved how in the trial scene, when walking towards the courtroom, the silhouette of the two guards looks like Crowley's massive wings 🙂

Mail sorting second shift 👌 I found it through a temp agency in my area and it's the first job I've ever had that has not required me to speak to people all day, has paid me enough to live on, and has given me a regular schedule

Chekhov's Rat Box
We knew it was coming but I guess I was still in denial. So I hadn't fully contemplated the horror of this situation. Furthermore, I think I was just relieved that we weren't getting FrankenClaudia. There's no way they're going to do both, right? Right??
But what if they do. What if the rats fuck up Claudia so bad but don't actually kill her? And then Armand goes into mad scientist mode. What if it's Rat Box -> FrankenClaudia -> The Sun???

One of the items featured at our open house this week was this manuscript with a copy of the death sentence from an 1828 murder case. Richard Johnson was one of the last two people publicly executed in New York, alongside Catherine Cashiere, on May 9th, 1829.
This manuscript includes a couple extracts: a stanza from Gray's "Elegy Written in a Country Churchyard," paraphrases of Mark 9:48 and Revelation 18:19, and part of Book I of Robert Pollok's The Course of Time, which summarizes the damnation sections of the Book of Revelation.
Probably our favorite part, however, is a recipe for "Potatoe Pudding," scrawled upside down at the bottom of the first page.
The pamphlet image included was found here.
