3 Tips for Solo Travellers
1. Plan ahead and be prepared: Research your destination and make a plan for where you want to go and what you want to do. Make sure to have a backup plan and be prepared for any situation. 2. Stay safe: Make copies of important documents, use a money belt, and be aware of your surroundings. Trust your instincts and avoid dangerous situations. 3. Connect with locals and other travelers: Talk to people and make new friends. Join local tours, attend events, and connect with others to experience the local culture and make the most of your trip. Also, consider staying in hostels or Airbnb to meet new people. #solotravel #travelalone #sologram #solotraveler #wanderlust #travelmore #travellingalone #solotrip #travelsolo #exploretheworld #livefree #liveyourlife #soloexplorer #solojourney https://www.instagram.com/p/CoHqFbGuBLg/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Meteora Monasteries
The Meteora is a rock formation in central Greece hosting one of the largest and most precipitously built complexes of Eastern Orthodox monasteries, second in importance only to Mount Athos. The six (of an original twenty-four) monasteries are built on immense natural pillars and hill-like rounded boulders that dominate the local area. Between the 13th and 14th centuries, the twenty-four monasteries were established atop the rocks. Meteora is located near the town of Kalabaka at the northwestern edge of the Plain of Thessaly near the Pineios river and Pindus Mountains. Meteora was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1988 because of the outstanding architecture and beauty of the complex, in addition to its religious and artistic significance.

Women Solo Travel In India
“Dare you to think about travelling Solo, the world is unlike what your father makes you feel at home”, said a mother to her daughter.
Is it really that unsafe for a woman to travel Solo in India? My curious mind, decided to figure out, “What is it like to go for a Solo vacation?”
6 Questions to ask yourself before planning a Solo vacation:
Question 1- Are you really an explorer, do you really enjoy being “ALONE” in the lap of mountains or the beach at sunset?
No doubt a lady needs to think twice before travelling Solo in India, however it was one of the check box items in my list of, “Things to explore before getting wiped out from this materialistic world”.
Solo Vacation has every one of the flavours one wishes to experience in any journey. Is it exciting? Yes, is it scary? Yes, is it adventurous? Yes and is it worth putting in all the energies & risks? “Absolutely YES”.
In conclusion, my answer was- YES, why not? I surely enjoy my own company and it’s worth gaining an experience of a Solo trip. And I did not just dare to travel Solo, I dared to travel for the first Trek of my life, “Triund” it was!
Question 2- How confident are you to travel alone, particularly in India? Does the thought itself scare you to travel alone from one city to another?
I see myself as a confident women, still I had the dilemma for a Solo trip. I was excited to go for a vacation alone and believe you me, the excitement itself gave me a great deal of courage. In any case, one must not overlook the different possibilities that might befall you. Without any denial this trip was an adventure for me, yet surely, not an exploratory trip. I had everything pre-planned, be it my travel or stay, everything was pre-booked.
You need not be scared, just need to be extra conscious. Be prepared for the worst and enjoy all the situations.
Question 3- Which place would you like to visit?
Two noteworthy things to select the destination are- Safety & Budget. Explore the different options as per your budget and decide a popular place and not too isolated for the first time Solo trip.
I wound up choosing to visit Truind as it’s one of the easiest trek even for beginners and has a formed path to travel. It is situated in the Kangra region of Himachal Pradesh where you get the remarkable views of the Dhauladhar mountains and Kangra valley. But even the accomplished trekkers relish the trek on account of the incredible beauty and options to explore further to Lahesh Caves Trek and then to Indrahar Pass Trek. Both the treks are 6 kms away from each other. But if you are not a trekker, you can explore Dharamshala & Mcleod Ganj city in Himachal Pradesh which are near Tirund Trek. I for one settled for the latter option.
Question 4- How do you want to travel?
If you are visiting a place which is far away, your decision is sorted because you are left with the only le choice- Flight. It is the safest option to travel, though a bit expensive. But as I suggested earlier that pre-booking is a vital factor. In the event that you may book with a reasonable time gap from your travel date you ought to crack a good deal from online booking sites like Makemytrip, Goibibo, Cleartrip, Skyscanner and so on. If you have an option to travel via train or bus, my recommendation is Volvo bus (Redbus is the best site for bus booking). Lesser number of people to travel with and if possible, you can swap your seats to be with some solo fellow traveller. Have someone from the hotel meet you at the bus stop/train stop if you are arriving in the middle of the night (as most transports do) or even during the day. It dodges from having the negotiation with the auto drivers, as they start hauling towards you like zombies.
I booked a Himsuta Bus (Government Volvo Bus) which runs specifically for Himachal Pradesh. I have travelled on various occasions via this bus at different timings. It generally feels safe and selling point for this bus is that it mostly completes the journey on time.
Do always hold your handbag/wallet and daybag while you are dozing off irrespective of any mode you choose for travelling.
Question 5- Where would you like to stay?
Do always keep safety on priority while you are deciding on the stay. Keep a major portion of your budget aligned to where you will be staying at night. Despite the fact that there are few trendy options like Hostels or homestay, however my suggestion is to avoid them and always opt for a hotel. Be that as it may, given a circumstance if you have to stay in a homestay or hostel or camps try to avoid sharing the room.
I went through all the reviews of different hotels from Tripadvisor and made up my mind to stay at a hotel in Dharamkot. Dharamkot is a place approx. 2 kms away from McLeodganj and 1.5 kms from Gallu Devi Temple, which is the starting station for Triund Trek. From the temple, Triund is approx. 7 kms and you can return to your hotel by the evening.
My hotel was a decent one with the normal rooms comprising of basic amenities.
Question 6- Should you be Sociable throughout the trip?
That’s a tough one to answer. In general I can’t resist talking, always end up in the mid of random chats. But is it safe to connect with strangers while travelling alone? Hello!!! Do you remember the lesson we all have learned in our childhood- Do not speak to strangers, Don’t eat anything offered by strangers and don’t take your hand out of train/bus window. While this “hand out of train/bus window” is irrelevant to this topic, however some lessons are intend to be revised together.
Time has changed, connect with different solo travellers irrespective of their gender. Chat with the different travelling groups, make friends if you wish to, but do remember your safety is in your hands. You will find some creeps also among them, men staring can be really annoying sometimes. And let’s be practical here, you may experience eve teasing in India. My suggestion is to create a scene if the teasing get’s uncomfortable. Women around you will help and there are many sensible men also around in India who will definitely help you out. You need to be intelligent enough to differentiate among the creeps & the friendly faces.
There is no harm in carrying pepper spray, always keep it handy.
Remember, you are out in the world enjoying a trip, may be for some women it is living the dream. You are enjoying your own company, just live the moment.

My travel blog
Update: My Hostel is beautiful and I‘m not lonely at all! Despite me being shy and afraid i met two guys while making dinner and had an interesting discussion about climate change and whether we, as humankind, should focus on making peace or stopping climate change OR whether we actually HAVE to choose...
Well- my trip is going well so far, and I‘m looking forward to tomorrow and all the museums I‘ll visit.
