Palestinian graphic designer Bilal Tamimi’s YouTube videos from the village of Nabi Saleh in the West Bank have received 6 million views during the past 13 years. His uploads document joyous festivals and peaceful protests—but also violent skirmishes between Nabi Saleh’s 600 residents and occupying Israeli soldiers. “I need to show to the world what’s happening in my village and the suffering of my people from occupation,” he says.
The platform has helped Tamimi broadcast to his more than 20,000 subscribers, but he’s locked out of YouTube’s revenue sharing program that pays a share of ad sales to more than 2 million video creators in 137 countries or territories. When Tamimi tries to sign up, YouTube’s app says, “The YouTube Partner Program is not available in your current location Palestine.”
The internet has given some Palestinians a global audience, but many benefits of online life that billions around the world can take for granted simply don’t work for people in Gaza and the West Bank. In addition to YouTube’s partner program, money transfer services such as PayPal and ecommerce marketplaces, including Amazon, largely bar Palestinian merchants from entry. Google tools for generating revenue from web ads or in-app purchases are technically open to Palestinians but can, in practice, be inaccessible due to challenges verifying their identity or collecting payment.
As Israeli forces have bombarded Gaza in pursuit of Hamas, tech workers’ and rights activists’ frustrations with the region’s digital inequality has grown. Palestinians are barred from YouTube’s Partner Program and struggle with intermittent connectivity. Israeli YouTube channels in the program could be bringing in some revenue from conflict-related content. Popular Israeli singers have drawn views with songs honoring victims of Hamas’ October 7 attack on Israel, while travel advice channel Traveling Israel has received millions of views on historical explainers.
Human rights organizations say the disparity in access to online sources of income weakens the Palestinian economy. "Many Palestinians who work online struggle to be paid," says Marwa Fatafta, a policy and advocacy manager at the rights organization Access Now. YouTube’s policy fits a larger pattern of tech companies’ discriminatory approach to Palestinians.”
Google spokespeople, who asked not to be named for safety concerns, say in a statement that the company is committed to creating economic opportunities for Palestinians through services and training. The YouTube Partner Program won’t be available in the Palestinian territories until Google launches a local version of YouTube, which involves customizing features and options to the language and culture. "We continue to invest in the infrastructure that's needed to offer more tools to monetize with Google to ensure it’s a seamless process and follows local legal requirements,” one of the spokespeople says.
To get a sense of how Palestinians are excluded from or face barriers to tapping the world’s largest ecosystem for making money online—Google’s—WIRED reviewed popular Palestinian YouTube channels, news websites, and apps associated with the region. Interviews with content creators, activists, and current and former Google staff familiar with the region and company policies helped fill out the picture. The investigation revealed how a series of Palestinian projects and companies hit financial dead ends when attempting to monetize online in ways easy for people in countries such as the US and Israel. Others resorted to complicated geographic workarounds that siphon off revenue.
The Google sources not authorized to speak to media allege those challenges reflect years of internal politics and neglect of Palestinian users at the company. The sources say a localized version of the company’s search engine, Google.ps, launched in 2009 only after a desire to provide more relevant results narrowly beat out concerns about public backlash for an action some people could view as endorsing disputed territories. But there hasn’t been management resolve in recent years to risk changing the status quo to introduce a Palestinian YouTube that would give local creators access to monetization.
US congressman Mark Pocan of Wisconsin says Israel’s current attack on Gaza underscores how wrong that pattern of online exclusion is. “When massive companies make money hand over fist from creators but deny them their fair share just because of where they live, that is just plain wrong,” he says. It is crucial, he argues, that “Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank have equal opportunities for economic participation.” In May, Pocan led several Democratic US lawmakers in urging PayPal to allow Palestinian accounts. PayPal, which declined to comment, hasn’t changed its policies.
Duty First
Tamimi, 57, started posting on YouTube in 2010 and views it as a duty in service of his villagers, not a way to get rich. He first tried to join the service’s revenue sharing program a few years ago as a way to defray his costs. “I would for sure try to improve my work, to have a good camera,” he says. “And maybe I can help other people who are doing what I am doing through workshops and cameras.”
Today Tamimi uses an iPhone 12 Pro Max he bought himself and camcorders and equipment donated by B'Tselem, a Jerusalem-based nonprofit organization that aims to document human rights issues in Palestinian territories.
Tamimi’s focus on winning attention over profit is no different than other YouTube creators, says Bing Chen, who once led global creator initiatives at YouTube. “Revenue is of course an incentive, but fame is more so,” says Chen, who now develops and invests in creators through his company AU Holdings.
You don’t need a fancy camera or editing to draw an audience. When Israeli professors analyzed about 340 TikTok videos from 2021 related to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict they found pro-Israeli videos had higher production values but received lower engagement. They argued that viewers preferred Palestinian content because public sentiment tends to favor those seen as victims.
At a time of widespread suffering now on both sides of the border and an intense period of global attention on the region, Palestinian channels like Tamimi’s could be drawing record engagement and revenue—money that could, one day, make rebuilding easier.
Instead, Tamimi has withdrawn from YouTube. He started posting only infrequently after his village stopped organizing weekly protests around 2018 and with no income available feels no loyalty to the Google service. When an incident flares up, he is now more likely to livestream on Meta’s Facebook, where he draws thousands of viewers. “YouTube is like an archive,” he says, not a place to share new content.
Geographic Gaps
YouTube’s revenue program for creators, known as YPP, launched in 2007 and pioneered the concept of a major social media platform turning amateur stardom into a well-paying job. It now has competition from Meta, X, and TikTok—which also don’t offer their programs to people in Palestinian territories—but remains the leader in influence and geographic reach.
Despite YouTube’s dominant position, WIRED’s review found that YPP doesn’t let in creators from over a quarter of the world's 100 most populous countries, most of them in Africa. It welcomes people from many countries with smaller populations than the Palestinian territories, where, combined, an estimated 5 million people reside. Creators from Iraq and Yemen, also Arabic-speaking places troubled by conflict, are listed as supported.
Chen, who helped develop YPP while working at YouTube, believes that the platform’s leaders may want to avoid funding creators whose content puts them at risk from local authorities, and also worry that language barriers or limited staffing could make it difficult to provide suitable customer service.
But it’s not impossible for platforms to work with creators in Palestine. California-based fundraising service Patreon gets money to Palestinian users through the payments provider Payoneer, and smaller money-moving tools such as Saudi Arabia’s PayTabs say they support transactions with Palestinian accounts.
Other parts of Google’s vast empire claim to serve Palestinians businesses, but people reached by WIRED say the reality is very different.
Google documentation says the Google Play app store allows developers from 163 markets, including one listed as “Palestine,” to sell apps and in-app purchases and that Google’s AdSense advertising system supports 232 countries or territories, including “Palestinian Territory.”
Odeh Quraan, who runs a Ramallah-based software development agency called iPhase with overseas customers, says the sign-up process for AdSense requires entering a PIN mailed by Google. But Israel controls the flow of mail to the West Bank, and many items never arrive, he says. He circumvented that by using Stripe’s Atlas service to establish a company in the US state of Delaware without ever setting foot there. But it comes with downsides. “Taxes are a headache, and transferring money from the US bank account to the local banks has turned out costly,” Quraan says.
Three out of 12 popular Palestinian news websites display ads using Google technology, compared with 11 out of 12 well-known Israeli news sources, WIRED found. One of the Google spokespeople says the company in late October began notifying websites in the region about a virtual alternative to the mailed PINs, though the option is not stated in public support documentation.
Elsewhere in Ramallah, software development company Mongid stopped offering in-app purchases from an ecommerce app on Google Play and abandoned a YouTube channel with tutorials on using online learning tools because it was too difficult to receive revenue via Google, says CEO Mongid Abu-Baker.
This month, he and two other app developers interviewed by WIRED have been stymied by a new Google Play requirement that all developers get verified by global professional services firm Dun & Bradstreet. Neither the Palestinian territories nor their country code for phone numbers are listed as options on sign-up webpages, and Palestinian developers must seek customer service from Dun & Bradstreet through offices in Israel rather than an Arab country.
Abu-Baker calls the lack of recognition an affront on his identity. “Palestinian companies hold an importance no less significant than any other worldwide,” he says. He downgraded his account to avoid verification and now worries about losing access to some Google Play features.
Efrat Segev, chief of data and product for Dun & Bradstreet in Israel, says hundreds of Palestinian businesses have finished verification over the past two years and that complaints are few but that it is trying to remedy the concerns. Google declined to comment.
The difficulties faced by Abu-Baker and others in Palestine clash with messaging from Google’s leaders in California about its work in the Middle East. Last year, Google chief financial officer Ruth Porat announced that the company would spend $10 million over three years to help Palestinian graduates, developers, and entrepreneurs “advance their digital skills and find employment.” Just weeks before the recent war broke out, Google said it aims to serve 3,500 Palestinians from the West Bank, Gaza, and East Jerusalem through the investment.
Asked on stage at a conference this month about Google’s role in contested areas like Gaza, Google CEO Sundar Pichai said his company can be a critical technology partner. “We don't see it in the geopolitical context,” he said. “We see it in an enabling context.”
Some Israeli creators, like those in Palestine, feel Google isn’t living up to that. Oren Cahanovitc, owner of the Traveling Israel channel, says videos discussing politics are being flagged by YouTube as not suitable for ads. Corey Gil-Shuster, the Tel Aviv-based creator behind the Ask Project, which interviews Israelis and Palestinians about their views on the conflict, says he’s seen the same pattern.
YouTube’s screening tools can deem videos showing violence or capitalizing on war as inappropriate for advertisers, although partner program participants also get some revenue from paid subscribers to YouTube who don’t see ads. That business, and revenue stream for creators, is growing.
Palestinians lack the opportunity to receive checks from YouTube at all. The Israeli creator Gil-Shuster says the disparity was news to him and that the fix seems clear. “Palestinians living in the West Bank and Gaza, obviously,” he says, “should have equal right to benefit from monetization as anyone else.”

The despair and emotion liberals expressed about Trump’s win, such a profound contrast to their cold indifference (or worse) to a year long genocide, shows so starkly the racist hierarchy of lives that, behind their sanctimonious moralising, fundamentally underpins their worldview.
I'm Black but not the descendant of chattel enslaved people, but bc I am Black/a colonial-affected and have already said what i said about the PoCs who voted fro Trump. I've come to realize that on the Black side, the jokes I've seen everywhere online about Palestine becoming a parking lot or glass or the clear-non-joke form this one Black woman about Palestine is now "done" bc 3rd party voters ruined it for themselves have the main goal of staying ahead in the capitalist race towards building equity and capital for themselves.
Here's the thing. Yes, producing money and capital for the Black community as well as supporting other Black businesses amongst themselves is very important since historically others never do. this is facts. Problem is that people are claiming that Palestinians deserve to be steamrolled and lose their homeland...when:
there are Black Palestinians, Black Muslims, mixed race Arabs and such....they don't matter? What about the Ethiopian women Israel sterilized...sound familiar? The children in West Africa, specifically Burkina Faso, the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire, & Ghana, are working in cocoa factories for about 60% of the globe's chocolate supply. what about incarcerated Black American people forced to work--and definitely going to in California at the very least--as they also cannot vote while they earn false wages?
by going to McDon and Starbucks, you're essentially speedrunning the genocide that many of them weren't trying to offset i the first place, so this false sense of ungratefulness as if they were the ones who supported all along) is manipulative. It's still supporting companies that given the chance and years later, WILL have all the laws and means to go after Black people, so you're speedrunning your own demise and break down of community and use of capital. I realize that Black people have moved different and supported themselves through Jim Crow and all...why are you helping that to come sooner or guarantee its arrival? Funny, bc this is the logic they've used to argue for Kamala.
who, btw, doesn't really need the support she could have directed towards Palestinians or used to build a platform that was more aggressively anti-Republican.
some Black folks have gone out of their way to travel back to African countries and feel their "motherland" (this used to happen more often, it's slowed down now, but a sentiment is still there)
many African peoples and countries have very conservative and ult-Christian views while also facing colonial patterns of exploitation even years down their moment of independence...hello, Congo, Sudan?! Ghana, Nigeria, etc. do these populations have to be perfect in order to gain life-saving advocacy that sometimes doesn't even need you to join a protest or get out of bed?! Were they even fundraising for these Black people? I will answer, I have literally seen people say only descendant-of-chattel-enslaved-people-black-people, which with American Black people also coming from many religious Conservative backgrounds that are heavily homophobic, transphobic, sexist, etc., it shows that if they don't advocate for African black people like they refuse to do for Palestine anyway, that they simply want to play the capitalist game similar to how many Black people in history have only reached to be included in indigenous registries and tribes to obtain rights to certain lands...(yeah indigenous people have also been racist/antiBlack or engaged in such to try to protect their own identities under thee U.S. government....but all this is an example of that divisiveness that's killing everyone)
One creator said that they are leveraging their privilege to escape present genocide and complete erasure (bc Black Americans may have been literally bombed as well as killed and raped, too...but also Palestine is getting WIPED OUT without their original home...you'd think you'd find some similarity, commonality, solidarity if it's about land loss, but no). this doesn't mean that people shouldn't be looking side-eyed at every PoC Trump voter, nah, hold them to the fire (I expected nothing less from both white men and women). Which means start conversations, argue, berate, tell them about the consequences of their votes and the histories that mirror out own time. but I earnestly believe that just because Black people didn't vote for Trump, some right now expressing anger (rightly) are really helping white supremacy when they call for deportations and "jokingly" put up numbers for ICE. Biden may have fucked up for Kamala by being so late, but Kamala messed up by including Republicans...which ironically mirrors PoCs voting for Trump, right? some black people and many of Trump's PoC voters actually have something in common there.
It's so fucking crazy, bc rising xenophobia and racism basically speedrunned Germany and Italy towards fascism.
I remember thinking, like a lot of people before the elections, that the hate in the Black diaspora was twisted on both sides bec the whole point is that it's divisive.

A Widespread Microsoft Outage Disrupted Flights, Banks, Media Outlets And Companies Around The World On Friday And Highlighted Dependence On Software From A Handful Of Providers – New York City reporting
The issue affected Microsoft 365 apps and services, and escalating disruptions continued hours after the technology company said it was gradually fixing it.
Microsoft 365 posted on X that the company was “working on rerouting the impacted traffic to alternate systems to alleviate impact in a more expedient fashion” and that they were “observing a positive trend in service availability.”
Major disruptions reported by airlines and airports grew. Flight tracking website Flightaware reports more nearly 1,000 flights canceled and over 12,000 more are delayed. Chicago O'Hare, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta, Newark , La Guardia and Boston Logan International Airport lead Flightaware's "misery map" with the most delays and cancellations.
In the U.S., the FAA said the airlines United, Delta and Allegiant had all been grounded. American Airlines lifted its ground stop just after 5 a.m ET, saying they were able to "safely re-establish operations."
An earlier ground stop for Frontier Airlines was lifted just after midnight, and the carrier said they had resumed normal operations, for now.
Travelers at Los Angeles International Airport slept on a jetway floor, using backpacks and other luggage for pillows, due to a delayed United flight to Dulles International Airport early on Friday.
Across the pond, Edinburgh Airport said the system outage meant waiting times were longer than usual. London’s Stansted Airport said some airline check-in services were being completed manually, but flights were still operating.
The budget airline Ryanair said they are "experiencing disruption across the network due to a global third party IT outage which is out of our control. We advise all passengers to arrive at the airport at least three hours before their scheduled departure time.”
Widespread problems were reported at Australian airports, where lines grew and some passengers were stranded as online check-in services and self-service booths were disabled. Passengers in Melbourne queued for more than an hour to check in, although flights were still operating. Airlines Virgin Australia and Qantas were severely affected by the outage.
News outlets in Australia — including the ABC and Sky News — were unable to broadcast on their TV and radio channels, and reported sudden shutdowns of Windows-based computers. Some news anchors broadcast live online from dark offices, in front of computers showing “blue screens of death.” Telecommunications providers, banks and media broadcasters were also disrupted as they lost access to computer systems. Outages reported on the site DownDetector included the banks NAB, Commonwealth and Bendigo, as well as internet and phone providers such as Telstra. The New Zealand banks ASB and Kiwibank said their services were down.
Television stations in the United Kingdom were being disrupted by the computer issues.
Hospitals in Britain and Germany also reported problems.
Israel’s Cyber Directorate said that it was among the places affected by the global outages, attributing them to a problem with the cybersecurity platform Crowdstrike. The outage also hit the country’s post offices and hospitals, according to the ministries of communication and health.
In South Africa, at least one major bank said it was experiencing “nationwide service disruptions” as customers reported they were unable to make payments using their bank cards at grocery stores and gas stations.
Numerous European airlines are using manual check-in.

The tools also generate AI-written suggested responses to posts online, allowing users to flood the comments of pro-Palestinian posts with pro-Israel messaging.
Experts who study communication online say the widespread use of such tools influences the online discussion of the war and is ushering in a new era of citizen-led propaganda campaigns. But the use of the tools does not appear to violate platform rules against what’s known as “coordinated inauthentic behavior,” or posts that appear to come from unrelated individuals but are really the result of an organized effort, often through automated accounts.
“Working in an orchestrated fashion can be violative, but it quickly becomes a gray area, and that’s why these apps exist,” said Nora Benavidez, senior counsel and director of digital justice and civil rights at Free Press, a nonpartisan organization that lists its goals as protecting free expression and civil liberties.
Researchers say it is difficult to determine which comments have been generated by such tools because there’s no way to publicly track a user’s private activity across multiple apps. Social media companies would have to come up with ways to detect their use, which is challenging because the apps operate on their own platforms, not those of the social media companies. If the apps were automatically posting, they would likely violate rules against inauthentic activity. But third-party apps that simply encourage legitimate users to report posts escape that sanction.
There’s also no way to know with precision that actions taken against someone’s account or posts are in response to activity from these apps. Anecdotally, some users report that after their Instagram and TikTok posts were mentioned on the apps, the posts were either removed or heavily downranked, making them less accessible to a large audience.
Meta, which owns Instagram and Facebook, did not respond to a request for comment. TikTok also did not respond to requests for comment.
“I’ve had many posts taken down, I’d say upwards of 15 to 20 posts removed,” said Nys, a content creator who posts on TikTok under the handle @palestinianpr1ncess and spoke on the condition that she be referred to by first name only because she’s worried about repercussions when traveling to the West Bank. Nys said that each of her posts that has been surfaced on one of the apps has received a flood of pro-Israel, seemingly AI-generated comments. The post is also usually removed after many users report it for bullying or hate speech. “I’m not using hate speech,” Nys said. “I’m just doing commentary on everything happening in Palestine.”
Laura Chung, a content creator and podcaster, said that she believes a mass reporting campaign facilitated by one of the apps is what led to her TikTok account being removed in December. “I was creating pro-Palestine content for education purposes and I was going massively viral,” she said. “I believe it’s these apps that got me banned on TikTok.”
Joan Donovan, a noted disinformation expert who is an assistant professor of journalism at Boston University, said the apps are a new development in the propaganda battle being waged on the internet over Israel’s offensive in Gaza and that social media companies need to find ways to monitor their use.
“Social media is a terrain of warfare, not just for cyber troops, but also for citizen battalions armed with AI-enhanced bots and the ability to generate endless unique posts that evade current content moderation tools,” she said. “It is incumbent on tech companies to defend against such abuses.”
“This level of organization only exists on one side of the conflict,” said Emerson T. Brooking, a former cyber policy adviser to the Defense Department who studies disinformation and propaganda campaigns as a resident senior fellow at the Atlantic Council’s Digital Forensic Research Lab. “It exists for pro-Israel voices, and it exists because there are government ministries in Israel that support these tools and encourage their use.”
Brooking and other experts said they aren’t aware of any similar tools for Palestinian supporters.

Terminally Online Leftists will deny the oppression of Muslims in China, deny or even justify war crimes against Muslims in Syria aided by Russia, "forget" about Trump's Muslim travel ban that caused all sorts of chaos around the world especially at airports, but then tell you how deeply concerned they are about Palestine.
I'm skeptical of that, as you might imagine.
Especially since their answer for that issue is to vote for Jill Stein, a woman who literally made millions off her stock in a company that provides weapons to Israel and as far I know still is.

Israel Visa for Indians
Traveling to Israel requires the appropriate visa based on your purpose and stay duration. For Indian nationals, the process for an Israel visa varies depending on whether the visit is for tourism, work, or other reasons. Israel offers several visa types, including visas on arrival, e-visas, and work visas, each tailored to specific needs. Understanding the Israel visa for Indians is crucial for a smooth travel experience to this historic country. Navigating the Israel visa process for Indians can be straightforward if you are aware of the necessary steps and documentation. Israel's visa policies accommodate various travel purposes while ensuring all requirements are met for entry. This guide provides detailed information on the Israel visa for Indians, including types, fees, and application processes. Also Check About Careers
Israel Visa for Indians on Arrival
Indian nationals can obtain a visa on arrival for Israel under certain conditions, primarily for short-term visits. This option is typically available for travelers who meet specific criteria, including holding a valid return ticket and sufficient funds for the duration of their stay. It is essential to check the latest entry requirements and conditions before traveling, as policies can change based on diplomatic agreements and security concerns. Visa on arrival is generally suitable for tourism or short business trips, and travelers should be prepared to provide supporting documents upon arrival at the airport. While this option offers convenience, ensuring that you meet all entry requirements and have necessary documentation will help avoid any issues during your travel.
Israel E-Visa for Indians
The Israel e-visa system provides a convenient way for Indian nationals to apply for a visa online before their trip. This electronic visa simplifies the application process, allowing travelers to submit their details and receive approval without visiting an embassy. The e-visa is typically available for short stays and can be used for tourism or business purposes. To apply for an e-visa, Indian travelers need to complete an online application form, upload required documents, and pay the relevant fees. The e-visa process is generally faster than traditional visa applications, but it is crucial to ensure that all information is accurate and that the application is submitted well in advance of the planned travel date.
Israel Work Visa for Indians
Indian nationals seeking to work in Israel need to apply for a work visa, which requires a more detailed application process compared to tourist or e-visas. Everything You Need to Know About Luggage Policies at Ethiopian Airlines Tel Aviv Office
I discovered Ethiopian Airlines Tel Aviv Office in Israel baggage policy to be unambiguous and simple to comprehend throughout my interaction with them. One of the top airlines in Africa, Ethiopian Airlines offers service to a number of global locations, including important cities in Asia, Europe, and Africa. The vibrant city of Tel Aviv is home to the company's Tel Aviv office, which offers a variety of services to assist tourists with bookings, luggage, and other travel-related requirements. This is a thorough explanation of the baggage policy, along with my own experience using it.
Luggage Policy Overview
Ethiopian Airlines has a straightforward luggage policy, but like most airlines, the rules can vary depending on your class of travel and destination. For economy class passengers, the standard allowance includes one piece of checked luggage weighing up to 23 kg (50 lbs). Business class passengers, on the other hand, are allowed two pieces of checked luggage, with each bag weighing up to 32 kg (70 lbs).
In addition to checked luggage, the airline allows one piece of carry-on baggage, with a weight limit of 7 kg (15 lbs), along with a small personal item like a handbag or laptop case. These allowances are quite similar whether you are flying to African cities like Addis Ababa or Nairobi, or to European destinations like Rome or Frankfurt.
My Experience with the Luggage Policy
When I flew with Ethiopian Airlines from Tel Aviv to Addis Ababa, I had no issues with my luggage. I carefully followed the weight restrictions and packed accordingly. The Tel Aviv office staff was very helpful in explaining the rules, especially when I asked about what happens if I exceed the baggage allowance.
One important tip I received from the staff was to always check the specific luggage policy for your destination, as there are some variations. For example, flights to the United States and Canada allow two pieces of checked baggage, each weighing up to 23 kg, even in economy class. This is particularly useful for travelers flying to cities like New York, Washington, or Toronto.
Extra Baggage Fees and Policies
If you have extra baggage, Ethiopian Airlines offers the option to purchase additional allowance. The staff at the Tel Aviv office explained that it’s cheaper to buy extra baggage allowance online in advance, rather than paying for it at the airport. This was useful advice for me, as I once had to carry more luggage on a trip to Johannesburg.
For every extra kilogram over the allowed limit, there is a fee, and this varies depending on your route. For example, the cost for excess baggage on flights to European cities like Paris or London might differ from flights to African cities like Kigali or Lagos. I appreciated how the Tel Aviv office staff clearly explained these differences, making sure I understood the potential costs.
Handling Overweight and Oversized Luggage
On one occasion, I traveled with an oversized piece of luggage from Tel Aviv to Nairobi. The Tel Aviv office team advised me in advance about the potential charges for oversized luggage. They told me that oversized luggage is accepted but incurs an extra fee. The staff also helped me rearrange some of my belongings to fit within the size limits, which saved me from paying an additional fee. This level of customer service made my travel experience less stressful.
If you plan to carry sports equipment or musical instruments, Ethiopian Airlines allows these items, but they are often subject to special handling fees. It’s best to inform the airline in advance to avoid surprises at the airport.
Special Baggage Allowances for Frequent Travelers
Frequent flyers with Ethiopian Airlines’ ShebaMiles program can benefit from additional baggage allowance. As a ShebaMiles member, I received extra luggage benefits on several of my trips. For example, on a flight from Tel Aviv to Lagos, I was allowed to carry an additional 10 kg of luggage due to my membership status. This made a significant difference, especially when traveling on longer trips where I needed to pack more.
If you’re a frequent traveler or plan to fly with Ethiopian Airlines often, it’s worth enrolling in their loyalty program. The Tel Aviv office staff provided detailed information about how the program works, which was very helpful when I was considering signing up.
Lost and Delayed Luggage Handling
During one of my flights from Tel Aviv to Accra, I encountered a situation where my luggage was delayed. I immediately contacted the Ethiopian Airlines Tel Aviv office, and they were quick to assist. The staff tracked my luggage and provided me with updates regularly. Within 48 hours, my bag was delivered to me at my hotel in Accra.
While it was frustrating to be without my luggage for a short period, the professionalism of the Tel Aviv office staff helped ease my concerns. They reassured me that delayed luggage is rare, but when it happens, they make it a priority to reunite passengers with their belongings as quickly as possible.
Baggage Restrictions and Prohibited Items
Ethiopian Airlines, like all airlines, has strict rules about prohibited items in both checked and carry-on luggage. During one of my visits to the Tel Aviv office, the staff provided a detailed list of items that are not allowed on board, such as flammable materials, sharp objects, and liquids exceeding 100 ml in hand luggage. These rules are in line with international aviation safety standards and are enforced on all routes, whether you’re flying to Dubai, Cairo, or Mumbai.
The office also reminded me about restrictions on carrying items like lithium batteries and power banks, which must be packed in carry-on luggage rather than checked luggage. It’s always helpful to double-check these rules before packing to avoid any issues at the airport.
Baggage Policy for Different Destinations
The luggage policy can vary depending on your destination, and Ethiopian Airlines operates flights to many cities around the world. For instance, on flights from Tel Aviv to destinations in Asia, such as Bangkok or Delhi, the luggage policy is similar to European routes. However, for African destinations like Addis Ababa, Kigali, or Harare, the policies may be slightly different, especially when it comes to excess baggage fees.
For long-haul flights to cities like Los Angeles or São Paulo, the baggage allowance is typically more generous, especially for economy class passengers. The Tel Aviv office staff was very knowledgeable about these details and made sure I was aware of any differences for my specific flight.
Baggage Handling at Ben Gurion Airport
When flying out of Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion Airport, the check-in process is smooth and efficient, and Ethiopian Airlines staff are present to assist with baggage handling. From my experience, it’s important to arrive at the airport at least three hours before your flight, especially if you have multiple bags or special items. The Tel Aviv office recommended this to ensure that there’s enough time to handle any luggage issues, such as repacking or paying for excess baggage.
The check-in counters are well-marked, and the staff at Ben Gurion Airport are generally helpful. On my flight to Addis Ababa, the luggage check-in process was quick, and I had no issues with my bags. The staff also provided guidance on where to collect luggage tags and how to track my bags in case of any problems.
Final Thoughts on the Ethiopian Airlines Tel Aviv Office Luggage Policy
Overall, my experience with the Ethiopian Airlines luggage policy at the Tel Aviv office has been positive. The staff is knowledgeable, and they take the time to explain the rules and help passengers avoid any unexpected fees or issues. Whether you’re flying to cities in Africa, Europe, or Asia, the luggage policies are clear, and the office is a great resource if you need assistance with your baggage before your flight.
The flexibility of purchasing extra baggage allowance online and the professionalism in handling lost or delayed luggage made a big difference in my travels. If you’re planning to fly with Ethiopian Airlines from Tel Aviv, I highly recommend visiting the office if you have any questions about luggage or other travel concerns.

It was shocking to learn from CNN News on Tuesday that an Israeli grandmother’s murder by Hamas militants was photographed by her executioners and posted to her Facebook account. According to her grandson, who was interviewed by anchor Jake Tapper, the shocking video appeared in his News Feed and likely that of her friends and family members because it was uploaded from her own account. Facebook algorithms are used to spotting violent content that appears on sites run by extremists, but not ordinary people with no history of posting violent videos.
This tragedy reveals the depth of the depravity taking place in Israel this week but also the challenges facing social media platforms during times of war. Tech companies are going to have to figure out how to identify violent content and remove it before it reaches thousands or millions of people. If it takes Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Twitch, Parler, and Telegram hours to take down such material, as sometimes has been the case, terror organizations are virtually guaranteed large numbers of viewers of their barbaric and inhumane actions.
Extremist organizations long have broadcast gruesome videos with hopes of shocking the world and recruiting followers to their cause. For example, ISIS often taped beheadings and put them on the internet for recruitment purposes. Although nauseating to typical viewers, such actions were fruitful in convincing thousands of people to travel from America, the United Kingdom, France, and other places around the world to join that cause.
Some mass shooters also have live-streamed their killings. They apparently do this to document their rampages and serve as a role model to others who want to murder other people. The Christchurch shooter in New Zealand did this as did the killer in a Buffalo grocery store shooting. In the latter case, the gunman live-streamed his rampage on Twitch. Although only a handful of people were watching at the time and the stream was removed within minutes, one viewer kept a copy and posted it on other websites and message boards. Before long, millions of people had viewed the tape.
It therefore comes as little surprise that Hamas terrorists recorded their murders and posted them for many to see. They wanted to document their onslaught and convince others to join their movement. Ambushing people in the early morning hours in their own homes, at music festivals, or on the street is not sufficient for terrorists during a digital era. They also want to achieve broader strategic goals, and thus need to document their actions and push them out to large numbers of viewers. In that way, they can terrorize innocent civilians around the world, while also recruiting followers with similar hatred for Israel.
Social media firms have algorithms that are good at spotting violence but spotty in assessing motives. How can they distinguish graphic scenes being broadcast from historical or other cases designed to inform people about atrocities versus contemporary scenes of decapitations and carnage designed to radicalize people and attract allies? There is legitimate interest in informing people about some kinds of historic and contemporary violence and some of that public education does involve scenes that are horrific or brutal in nature. We witnessed this in the war on Ukraine, for example, where videos raised public awareness about Russia’s premeditated brutality. The old adage that people should “never forget” atrocities means that some graphic videos may need to be online and available for people to remember.
Yet algorithms are terrible at measuring motives and distinguishing videos meant legitimately to inform versus those designed to radicalize and inflame public passions. State actors as well as terrorist organizations are posting videos in hopes of demonizing their opposition and influencing public perceptions. On Twitter, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has shared compilation videos showing Israeli airstrikes on Gaza, one of which has attracted nearly 85 million views.
It is one of the challenges of our AI-driven world that technology is springing ahead and being used for nefarious purposes. Videos are becoming one of the primary sources of information for many people who prefer to learn by watching as opposed to reading. They therefore are being deployed by criminals and terrorists to torment, manipulate, and scare people.
The recent trends with several social media companies of downgrading their content moderation efforts and getting rid of their human trust and safety divisions are the opposite of what is needed in a world that can be violent, extreme, and dangerous. We need human guardrails to protect people from violent content, extreme actions, and behavior that is criminal in nature. Leading firms need to rededicate their resources to these important priorities and reinvigorate their content moderation practices. Unless we get a handle on social media content, it will be difficult for countries to protect themselves and their citizens from criminals and terrorists and insulate viewers from the radicalizing power of extreme actions broadcast online.
In addition, content moderation is vital to fighting disinformation. There have already been rampant false narratives about the Israel-Hamas war on X (formerly Twitter) and Telegram, among other platforms. Bad actors are using outdated footage, fake videos, and made-up stories to inflame people and win the information war, and even experienced researchers are struggling to identify and corroborate accurate information. Without serious efforts to mitigate inaccurate material, social media content could distort public perceptions about a serious, ongoing conflict.

Understand Your Travel Goals
Before you start your search, it's essential to identify what you want from your trip. Are you a history buff eager to explore ancient sites? A foodie looking to indulge in local flavors? An adventure seeker ready to hike through nature reserves? Knowing your priorities will help you find a guide who specializes in your interests.
Research and Reviews
Start by researching potential guides or tour companies online. Websites, travel forums, and social media platforms can provide valuable insights. Look for reviews from past clients to gauge the quality of their experiences. For example, Holy Land Private Tours has garnered excellent reviews for their personalized service and knowledgeable guides.
Verify Credentials
Ensure that your prospective guide is licensed and certified by the Israel Ministry of Tourism. Licensed guides have undergone extensive training and are well-versed in the country's history, culture, and geography. Holy Land Private Tours prides itself on employing only licensed, professional guides who are experts in their field.
Experience Matters
Experience is a crucial factor when selecting a private tour guide. Guides with years of experience are likely to have a deeper understanding of the sites and a greater ability to handle unexpected situations. They also tend to have more stories and insider tips to share, enriching your travel experience.
Language Skills
Communication is key to a successful tour. Make sure your guide is fluent in your preferred language. This ensures that you can easily understand the information provided and engage in meaningful conversations. Holy Land Private Tours offers guides who speak multiple languages, catering to an international clientele.
Personal Connection
A good rapport with your guide can significantly enhance your trip. During initial communications, assess whether the guide is friendly, approachable, and attentive to your needs. Flexibility and Adaptability
Travel plans can change, and having a guide who is flexible and adaptable is invaluable. Whether you want to spend more time at a particular site, change your schedule, or explore a spontaneous interest, a good guide will accommodate your requests seamlessly.
Passion and Enthusiasm
A passionate and enthusiastic guide can make even the most well-trodden path exciting. Look for guides who express a genuine love for their job and a deep appreciation for the places they show you. Their enthusiasm will be infectious and will add a layer of enjoyment to your journey.
Safety and Comfort
Your safety and comfort should be a top priority. Choose a guide who prioritizes these aspects, whether it’s providing comfortable transportation, ensuring safe travel routes, or being prepared for emergencies. Holy Land Private Tours places a strong emphasis on the safety and well-being of their clients, offering peace of mind throughout your trip.
Value for Money
While cost shouldn’t be the only deciding factor, it’s essential to find a guide who offers good value for money. Compare the services provided with the fees charged to ensure you’re getting a fair deal. Remember that a higher price often reflects greater expertise, personalized service, and a more enriching experience.
Conclusion:
Choosing the right private tour guide in Israel can elevate your travel experience from ordinary to extraordinary. By considering factors such as experience, language skills, personal connection, and flexibility, you can find a guide who will make your trip unforgettable. No Rest For The Wicked Developer Moon Studios On Why Remote Development Is Key To Its Success

No Rest For The Wicked Developer Moon Studios On Why Remote Development Is Key To Its Success
No Rest for the Wicked is the upcoming action RPG from Moon Studios, the developer behind Ori and the Blind Forest/Will of the Wisps. It’s also the game gracing the latest cover of Game Informer. Cover story writer and editor Marcus Stewart and I traveled to Vienna, Austria, to play the game and speak with two of its leads, tech and production director and studio co-founder Gennadiy Korol and studio CEO and creative director Thomas Mahler.
However, while the frosted glass of the front door of the two-story apartment we entered was engraved with the words “Moon Studios”, this studio is actually just Mahler’s workplace. Korol met us in Vienna for the cover story, but he actually lives in Israel. The rest of Moon Studios lives around the world, because Moon Studios is completely remote – there is no headquarters to report to or central location to work.
Mahler (left) and Korol (right) explain why Moon Studios is a remote studio
While remote development has become more popular as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, Moon Studios has been remote since its founding in 2009. When I asked Korol and Mahler about remote development, it’s clear it’s a big part of the team’s winning game development formula, responsible for the aforementioned Ori games and the upcoming No Rest for the Wicked, which launches into Early Access on PC next month.
“We absolutely 100 percent believe it allows us to hire the best talent,” Mahler tells me. “I think for us, it was a little bit easier because we never knew anything else. We started as a remote studio. I do think it’s much harder if you’re at an established studio and you have established, proven processes that are all based on being in the office, and then now, suddenly, the world stops and you have to work remote but these processes […] you’re reliant on […] you have to be in the office for.
“I think that’s a really difficult change to make. That’s like changing the DNA of a studio, but we never had to do that.”

Mahler says he wouldn’t be in game development if not for the internet and, subsequently, remote work. He lives in Austria, and “there’s almost no [games industry] here.” But because of remote work, he was able to work at studios around the world. “I think that’s just amazing, right? That you can find all these people who are just amazingly talented, no matter where they live in the world, and if they’re super hungry, if they’re really passionate, if they’re willing to throw themselves in, then they can get a job in the games industry.”
He says studios that believe you have to work in the office for good work simply haven’t adapted yet. He hopes Moon Studios’ resume of games speaks to the idea that great products can come from remote studios. “I get this question a lot: ‘How did you make it look so coherent?’,” he says. “The workflow is exactly the same: people play the project, they play the build, they’re in touch with one another all the time. I don’t necessarily know why we need to sit in an open office space to achieve that.”
Korol, who attributes their belief in remote work to meeting Mahler on an online forum in 2004 before creating Moon Studios together in 2009, agrees.
“Some people blame certain things that don’t go right when people are working remotely on the fact that it’s remote work,” he says. “But I think it has to be a bit more nuanced. If you’re just trying to force a remote culture on top of the office approach, which is how a lot of these companies are structured, it’s not going to work. You have to kind of re-envision how the communication works, how the documentation works, how the work flow works, and what the big focus point is. I personally believe that remote work actually puts the emphasis on the product and the work even more than office work.”
Korol admits the team does miss out on the opportunity for water cooler moments, which he says can be fantastic moments, but Moon Studios does try to replicate them with streams, meet-ups, and more.
Korol points to a lack of commute, giving employees back more of their time, and the ability to be with family more easily as key factors for Moon Studios’ remote success.
“There’s no commute, so you don’t have to worry about wasting time,” he tells me. “Especially with people with families. We find it works really well for them because they can be with their kids. We’ve heard all these stories of people that say, ‘Oh, I had to ship this game, and I didn’t see my kid growing up, and I missed that precious period where I will never have that again, and my kid will never be that age again and it’s gone, and I was just so busy with work.’ But if you work remotely from home, you can still be there for your family and do great work.
“You can pace yourself much better, and you can take care of your mental health much better, so I’m a huge believer in [remote work.]”

Ultimately, Korol and Mahler, Moon Studios’ two leads, believe remote work is the most efficient process. Studios that aren’t remote are missing out on great talent for their games, they say.
“We believe it’s really ultimately the most efficient process if you do it right, if you hire for that, if you optimize all communication for that,” Korol adds. “And like with everything else, you also have to iterate. So if things go wrong, your first reaction shouldn’t be, ‘Oh, let’s bring everybody back to the office.’ The reaction should be, ‘Well, why isn’t it working? Can we fine-tune it? Can we tinker with it a little bit more?’ And I feel like maybe some people are jumping the gun a little bit too fast and are missing out on some opportunities with great talent.”
No Rest for the Wicked hits Early Access on PC next month on April 18.
