I’m not a cyborg teen Sari fan… They were trying too hard to make her special, but the key she uses to heal the Autobots already made her a unique ally (she was ironically more useful before her cyborg upgrade)… Also, turning her into a cyborg kind of ruins the inter-species friendship that she made with the Bots, as well as the upgrade gets rid of the healing key that could bring Bots back from the dead…
Because it’s like that old saying goes: “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!” 🔑

The conversation in the replies with @elfdragon12 here made me realize that there should absolutely be an IDW1 equivalent "geewunners"

I swear, Predaking is the most mischaracterized bot in the TFP fandom.
If he’s not a bloodthirsty, serial abuser, he’s a child.

Orion rambling to Megatronus about literature seems to me like it would be a common occurrence

Oooo, Megan, Maggie, that is actually an excellent defense as it doesn't deny that he did the accused actions but rather that the autobots have been doing some serious judicial no-nos. Smaaart. Because both of these? Both of these statements are true as hell.
Tumblr media
He may be a horrible person, but this is still not a fair trial. They've been legitimately blaming Megatron for everything that went down in the war, while conspicuously staying quiet about their role in it. Optimus bringing in Chromedome is indeed a low fucking blow, rifling through someone's head is absolutely not something that should be happening in matters such as this (as we see time and time again mnemosurgery has pretty dark implications about bodily autonomy and privacy). By giving Optimus such a big and official role here when he and Megatron have a heavily biased past is pretty fucked up. And I'd argue yes, at every turn they've been saying he's automatically guilty and that he deserves to die.
Ever since the beginning of this entire process the autobots have proven this court cannot deliver a fair verdict.

rather than hijack someone else's post (esp considering it was written in good faith and seems to be genuine about soliciting opinions and feedback from the community), i just want to say that i don't think there is anything fundamentally wrong with really vibing with fanon-only content, or getting really into a specific fanon AU, or even with building a little community of fans who are also hype for that fanon and so create content based on it. i've got a number of xiyao fix-it AUs bookmarked on AO3 for that reason and have totally bought into the niche joke that "pluck the stars" is the 'canon' xiyao sequel to mdzs. in my heart. (because it is. have you read it? go read it, it's good.)
but i also just strongly, strongly disagree that it is gatekeeping to draw a firm line between fanon content and what is actual canon. like... okay, no, don't go onto someone's fic and nitpick at them in the comments section of their own story, that's a dick move and nobody will like you if you do that. but if you're in an otherwise pretty neutral community space shared by lots of people in your fandom (e.g., the general tags here on tumblr, or an old school lj community, or, idk, whatever passes for a community space on the clock app i guess), and you make a fanon-based claim about the book or video game or show or whatever that is contradicted by the source material... yeah, people are going to correct you. they're going to tell you "that isn't what happened" because... because it isn't what happened.
i know it's a tired metaphor at this point, but it's a common one for a reason imo. canon and fanon are like grammar rules. you really do need to know what the rules are first before you decide to break them. imo the best transformative AU works i've ever read have been written by people who know the canon source material inside and out.

Because of you, we have a future. Thank you, Peter Cullen, for your continual, unwavering efforts to imbue the words "strong enough to be gentle" into the spark of Optimus Prime <3 This is my artwork for the "To Be Gentle Zine," hosted by @allsparkzines ! I was so thrilled to be able to contribute! ❤️‍🔥Tremendous thank you to the mods who set this up. This was an honor. Tumblr wrecked the quality a bit, as it does, but you can see the optimal ;) version in the zine, which will be releasing digitally soon!

I'm finding it weird hearing that some people think that Bulkhead is dumb.
Like why??
Is it because he's goofy and is clumsy sometimes? Because that wrong. Goofiness/clumsiness isn't a sign of incompetence/idiocy.
Hell, in season one, he was shown to be insecure of his clumsiness to the point he wanted to ask Prowl to help him work on it. Heck, in the same season, he was the only one to figure out about Soundwave and tricked him into thinking he betrayed Sari in order to defeat him.
And this is stuff I'm getting from just season one, I haven't even gotten to the later seasons , which reveals that he's a Space Bridge technician.

Told you I had a silly idea for a Transformers Animated OC.
Anywho, Here's Gentle Audio, a former nanny-bot, turn space bridge repairer, turned... nanny again, but this time for a human child. Gentle becomes Sari's mother figure of sorts, her being specifically programmed to care for and nurture protoforms, it was only natural for her to latch on to the single child that got attached to the Autobots.
She's very friendly and kind, but some would consider her voice a bit... creepy, with it's mechanical singsong-like nature (if you've ever heard how Vocaloids talk, that's what she sounds like). Her voice was quite literally taken from her, as it was her unique power, being able to sooth and disrupt those who could hear her. When it was taken, she felt like she lost a bit of herself, like she became far more useless after losing it. She can still sing, but it's just not the same...
She tries not to fight if she can help it, due to her having no real weapons, but she is protective of anything she considers a protoform. To the point she will not discriminate tearing the threat limb from limb with her "hair", or shake them to death with her sound-waves, which are the only things that could be considered weapons on her. Despite my explanations of how they could be used, she's still very weak, and small.
One of her biggest joys (and flaws) is that she's a hopeless romantic, and adores learning about human culture and customs. Her favorite kinds of stories consists of romance and fantasy, to the point she's a little "boy crazy". "Falling in love" with any man, bot or otherwise, that treats her kindly. Which, yes, that includes the entire Autobot cast (excluding Sentinel Prime and Ultra Magnus) at one point or another. She gets over it pretty quickly though, and it's more of a gag then anything.

So I started thinking about some stuff regarding living metal.
Because cybertronians can aquire rust and a form of living rust, this implies cyberforms contain iron element atoms. Like we do carbon. (Tho they would have carbon too, and all sorts of other shit)
Because in at least fannon they consume various other minerals such as cobalt or copper as a way to keep their frame up and functional like vitamins ext, this implies living metal is an iron alloy.
So, if sentio metalico is an iron alloy that contains many elements of metals for upkeep, this means that therefore, it's a steel.
Since they don't rust super easily, this puts sentio metalico under the stainless steel category, which means they mostly need things like Iron and Chromium for upkeep on top of whatever their frame type requires. (Example: flight frames might need more aluminium cause jets usually have a lot of that and beryllium)
Chromium is very brittle, which is why the iron in stainless steel is a base for the alloy. So if a cyberform isn't healthy, or has a condition that makes some metals more abundant like chromium, they could bruise or scar easily.
Also sodium is a metal that is good for conducting electricity, which means cyberforms would probably consume it for health regarding circuitry and cables that send electricity from the fuel pump to assist energon.
And chlorine is a chemical used for things like coolants, airbags, and antifreeze. And corrosion resistant paints, which would be something reasonable for paint nanites to consist of amongst other things.
Which means I can safely say this:
