Today probably marks 1 month since this two fucking guys completely dominated my fy page on both Twitter and TikTok, what am I becoming?

Hey party people, beccause of the kind of loosy goosy portrayal, of House’s pain in the show, I decided to take it into my own hands to analyze how House’s disability affects him. My credentials? I took Kinesiology in the twelfth grade and I’m super obsessed with this show.

I also made this for-myself as a guide for my writing so i know the specifics of how house is effected by his pain.

Where is his pain and How does it effect him?

The infraction, lead to a surgery in which the flexor & extensors of House’s knee and hip were impacted. From pictures of the scar, its the upper lateral-medial thigh, so i see three main muscles being effected: vastus laterals, vastus intermedius, and rectus femoris.

Those muscles, are important for alot of movement.

The rectus femoris flexes the hip, which means raising the leg would be painful

The vastus laterals and vastus intermedius, (and somewhat the rectus femoris too) help with extension of the knee, meaning straightening his knee would cause alot of pain

Im under the assumption that his hamstrings have not been affected, so that means he can bend his knee, and extend his hip (lower his leg) to an extent.

Actions this effects: walking, running, raising the leg, and any pressure placed on the leg (includes standing).

His chronic pain, (originating Psychosomatically, and due to the strain of (even slight) movement ) means a constant level of pain that affects movement & function even more.

- House’s prescribed medication (vicodin s1-5,s7-8) dulls the pain to an extent which allows him some relief but even on high dosages of this medication House still experiences sharp pain with prev actions mentioned.

The show accurately portrays:

- house using his hands to keep leg straight as he raises/lowers his leg on/from a object. (eg. Coffee tables, chairs, footstools)

-house using the cane for walking, and while standing to support the weight of his leg, and also to bring objects closer or use as support with other movments

The show should better portray:

-strain of driving/using motorcycle on his leg. (yes his leg isn’t being actively used with the bike but there is extended hip flexion)

-the extent of Psychosomatic pain, and a better acknowledgement of it AS PAIN. Many instances where Cuddy and Wilson refuse to prescribe pain relief because his pain is Psychosomatic. (Wtf kinda logic-)

-Rewrite of s6. Fucking god wtf do you mean they took him off his primary pain meds and gave him ibuprofen instead, and we never see the extent of that strain on him once hes back on cases.

-portrayal of how House’s Psychosomatic pain that isnt cured by the pOwEr oF lOvE. (looking at you s6 finale)

I unfortunately have a soft spot for these losers. This ship is like 25% “it’s narratively impactful and they both enable the worst parts of each other” and 75% “because it’s funny”

Curiously, Felix is probably the only person that can get away with insulting Bon to his face without much retaliation
