This is after only 3 weeks! I can’t tell you how happy my tower garden makes me 😊 I go out every morning to check on it, talk to the plants, tell them how beautiful they are & clearly they’re thriving! 🪴 🌱 ⁣ ⁣ Gardening has had a huge impact on my mental health 🧑🏻‍🌾 It has helped my anxiety & depression and I’m growing my own food! ⁣ ⁣ May is mental health awareness month, the theme for 2021 is Tools to Thrive. Gardening has been one of those tools for me. 🧰 ⁣ ⁣ Food insecurity is a huge problem, the pandemic proved that. Growing your own food can give you a sense of certainty. December 7th my seedlings are ready to be put in the tower garden! I was so excited to learn how to fill up the tank, get the water pump going, and balance the water for healthy plants. Doing the ph balancing took some time. Also filling up a 20gallon tank took some time without a hose 😂 #knead2grow

Purple Kohlrabi growing outdoors on a Tower Garden during the cold months of winter in Ibiza, Spain 💜🌿

Kohlrabi is another cultivar of the Brassica family such as kale, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, collard greens, arugula, watercress, mustard greens, and Brussels sprouts. Like all its cousins, Kohlrabi can be considered as a superfood (as long as it is eaten raw) as it is packed with nutrients and antioxidants!

We highly recommend growing Kohlrabi and eating it raw instead of cooking it. Kohlrabi just needs to be peeled and either grated or sliced nicely using a mandolin. It has the crunchy texture of radish with an omnipresent pallet reminder of cabbage flavor. We love to grow & eat Kohlrabi!

Kohlrabi is not root vegetable since the edible part of the plant is a bulbous, modified stem which grows above the ground. Therefore it is perfect for the Tower Garden!

Growing my own food is so satisfying and it’s sooooo easy with a Tower Garden. It’s also very affordable…..approximately $2 a day. There’s nothing better than food still warm from the sun ☀️🌱🍅🥗💕🥒
