BEIJING (Reuters) - After quitting the education industry last August due to China's crackdown on private tutoring, He Ajun has found an unlikely second life as an unemployment influencer.
The Guangzhou-based vlogger, 32, offers career advice to her 8,400 followers, charting her journey through long-term joblessness. "Unemployed at 31, not a single thing accomplished," she posted last December.
He is now making around 5,000 yuan ($700) per month through ads on her vlogs, content editing, private consultations and selling handicrafts at street stalls.
"I think in future freelancing will be normalised," said He. "Even if you stay in the workplace, you'll still need freelancing abilities. I believe it will become a backup skill, like driving."
China is under instruction to unleash "new productive forces", with government policies targeting narrow areas of science and technology including AI and robotics.
But critics say that has meant weak demand in other sectors and risks leaving behind a generation of highly educated young people, who missed the last boom and graduated too late to retrain for emerging industries.
A record 11.79 million university graduates this year face unprecedented job scarcity amid widespread layoffs in white-collar sectors including finance, while Tesla, IBM and ByteDance have also cut jobs in recent months.
Urban youth unemployment for the roughly 100 million Chinese aged 16-24 spiked to 17.1% in July, a figure analysts say masks millions of rural unemployed.
China suspended releasing youth jobless data after it reached an all-time high of 21.3% in June 2023, later tweaking criteria to exclude current students.
Over 200 million people are currently working in the gig economy and even that once fast-growing sector has its own overcapacity issues. A dozen Chinese cities have warned of ride-hailing oversaturation this year.
Redundancies have even spread to government work, long considered an "iron rice bowl" of lifetime employment.
Last year Beijing announced a 5% headcount reduction and thousands have been laid off since, according to official announcements and news reports. Henan province trimmed 5,600 jobs earlier this year, while Shandong province has cut nearly 10,000 positions since 2022.
Meanwhile, analysts say China's 3.9 million vocational college graduates are mostly equipped for low-end manufacturing and service jobs, and reforms announced in 2022 will take years to fix underinvestment in training long regarded as inferior to universities.
China currently faces a shortage of welders, joiners, elderly caregivers and "highly-skilled digital talent", its human resources minister said in March.
Yao Lu, a sociologist at Columbia University, estimates about 25% of college graduates aged 23-35 are currently in jobs below their academic qualifications.
Many of China's nearly 48 million university students are likely to have poor starting salaries and contribute relatively little in taxes throughout their lifetimes, said one Chinese economist who asked not to be named because of the sensitivity of the issue.
"Although they cannot be called a 'lost generation', it is a huge waste of human capital," the person said.
'DOING THREE PEOPLE'S JOBS'
Chinese President Xi Jinping in May urged officials to make job creation for new graduates a top priority. But for younger workers unemployed or recently fired, the mood is bleak, nine people interviewed by Reuters said.
Anna Wang, 23, quit her state bank job in Shenzhen this year due to high pressure and frequent unpaid overtime. For a salary of about 6,000 yuan per month, "I was doing three people's jobs," she said.
Her ex-colleagues complain about widespread pay cuts and transfers to positions with unmanageable workloads, effectively forcing them to resign. Wang now works part-time jobs as a CV editor and mystery shopper.
At a July briefing for foreign diplomats about an agenda-setting economic meeting, policymakers said they have been quietly urging companies to stop layoffs, one attendee told Reuters.
Olivia Lin, 30, left the civil service in July after widespread bonus cuts and bosses hinted at further redundancies. Four district-level bureaus were dissolved in her city of Shenzhen this year, according to public announcements.
"The general impression was that the current environment isn't good and fiscal pressure is really high," she said.
Lin now wants a tech job. She has had no interview offers after a month of searching. "This is completely different from 2021, when I was guaranteed one job interview a day," she said.
REDUCED STIGMA
Shut out of the job market and desperate for an outlet, young Chinese are sharing tips for surviving long-term unemployment. The hashtags "unemployed", "unemployment diary" and "laid off" received a combined 2.1 billion views on the Xiaohongshu platform He uses.
Users describe mundane daily routines, count down the days since being fired, share awkward chat exchanges with managers or dole out advice, sometimes accompanied by crying selfies.
The increasing visibility of jobless young people "increases broader social acceptance and reduces stigma surrounding unemployment", said Columbia's Lu, allowing otherwise isolated youth to connect and "perhaps even redefine what it means to be unemployed in today's economic climate".
Lu said unemployed graduates understood blaming the government for their plight would be both risky and ineffective. Rather, she said, they were more likely to slip into "an internalisation of discontent and blame" or "lying flat".
He, the influencer, thinks graduates should lower their ambitions.
"If we have indeed entered 'garbage time', then I think young people could accumulate skills or do something creative, such as selling things via social media or making handicrafts."

11 Things You Didn’t Know About Hello Kitty
Istill remember the pocket-size Hello Kitty colored pencil set I had as a girl, and I am delighted that my two Gen Alpha kids have embraced her and her ever-growing cast of Sanrio friends. She turns 50 on Nov. 1, and over the past five decades, she has collaborated with brands ranging from Adidas to Pottery Barn to MAC Cosmetics and more, run for president, been the subject of her own museum exhibition, is at the center of a thriving businessand thats just for starters. But while she’s recognized around the globe, the Hello Kitty origin story is still a bit of a mystery.
I recently had the opportunity to speak with Christina Yano, arguably the worlds foremost Hello Kitty expert, about Hello Kitty’s universal and timeless appeal. Hello Kittys design is brilliantly simplesomething you could probably draw yourself, says Yano, co-curator of Hello! Exploring the Supercute World of Hello Kitty, the museum exhibit celebrating her 40th birthday, and author of Pink Globalization: Hello Kitty’s Trek Across the Pacific. In that cute blankness, she speaks to people, and they think shes mine. Thats certainly true in my household, where my kids think they discovered Hello Kitty, but I know better.
Yano shares more about Hello Kittys allure. In the ’70s, when Hello Kitty was created in Japan, she struck a specific niche of cute goods, geared toward girls. Sanrio took utilitarian objects like a beach slipper and made it special, Yano says. “‘Cute-ifying’ everyday stuff became a kind of genius, and Sanrio expanded licensing to adult things, such as vacuum cleaners, rice cookers, etc.
Read on for more about the Hello Kitty origin story.
Fun facts about Hello Kitty’s origin (and more)
1. Hello Kitty is a cat, not a girl. Lets get this controversial Hello Kitty fact out of the way first. Despite what you may have heard to the contrary, Hello Kitty is indeed a cat. When I asked Yano about this rumor, she shared that it stemmed from the 2015 museum exhibition that she co-curated. I wrote all the captions no one reads and flippantly wrote feline this and feline that. When she shared them with Sanrio for review, she says, they asked me not to emphasize her as a cat and said, We think of her like a friend, like a girl. She is always supportive, always there. That being said, her ears, whiskers and the fact that she comes from a family of cats is enough to convince me that Hello Kitty is a cat.
2. Hello Kitty was born Kitty White in London on Nov. 1, 1974.
3. She has a twin sister, Mimmy, who wears a yellow bow on her right ear to mirror Kittys red bow on her left ear.
4. Hello Kittys motto is You can never have too many friends. Aside from Mimmy, her circle has expanded to her boyfriend, Dear Daniel; her close friend My Melody; Cinnamoroll, who has been voted the most popular Sanrio character for four years running on the brands website; and a cast of more than 200 others.
5. She ran for president of the United States in 2016 on the Friendship Party.
6. Hello Kitty has collaborated with countless brands. Recent ones include Adidas, McDonalds, Crocs, Gund, Forever 21 and Glamnetic Nails.
7. There are even more unlicensed Hello Kitty products in the world, including the infamous Hello Kitty AK-47. In 2013, Sanrio issued a statement, Sanrio has not and will not authorize the manufacture or sale of any gun or firearm and does not condone the use of our intellectual property for the purposes of marketing such merchandise.
8. At KittyCon, which ran in conjunction with the 2015 exhibit, attendees had the opportunity to get a free Hello Kitty tattoo from a top tattoo artist, reports Yano, who shares that the line for tattoos was long.
9. Hello Kitty and her friends have been the stars of dozens of TV shows, most recently Hello Kitty: Super Style! The show, which is in its 12th season and airs on Amazon Prime, follows Hello Kitty as she uses her magical bow to transform into a detective, pop star, chef and more to come to the rescue of her friends around town.
10. Hello Kitty has her own theme park, Sanrio Puroland. Unfortunately, for my kids, me and every U.S.-based Hello Kitty fan, its in Japan. The indoor theme park, located just outside Tokyo, features rides (picture a Sanrio version of Disneys Its a Small World), character meet and greets, shows, themed dining and, of course, plenty of shopping.
11. While youll need a passport to visit Sanrio Puroland, there are three Hello Kitty cafes stateside: the flagship Hello Kitty Grand Caf in Irvine, California; a smaller outpost in Universal CityWalk in California; and a takeout branch in Las Vegas. Heres hoping they expand to the East Coast soon!

Mini Marshmallows. Making Baking Fun
Mini marshmallows are tiny, fluffy confections that are typically made from a mixture of sugar, water, and gelatin, then whipped to a spongy consistency. They are incredibly versatile and are a staple in many dessert recipes. While they're traditionally white, these sweet treats also come in a variety of colours and flavours, adding both taste and visual appeal to the dishes they grace. Known for their slightly chewy, melt-in-your-mouth texture, they are a favourite among both children and adults, often used in hot chocolate, baked goods, and even as a fun, edible craft element.
Marshmallow 101
What are marshmallows made of? Marshmallows are made from a combination of sugar, water, gelatin, and sometimes corn syrup. The ingredients are heated together until they form a thick syrup, then whipped into a fluffy consistency. This process is what gives marshmallows their light and airy texture. Where did marshmallows come from? The exact origins of marshmallows are unknown but they are thought to date back to ancient Egypt, where the marshmallow plant grew in abundance along the banks of the Nile River. The Egyptians extracted sap from the plant's root and combined it with honey to create a sweet treat reserved for gods and royalty. The modern marshmallow, however, owes its existence to French confectioners in the 19th century. They substituted the marshmallow plant's sap with gelatin, creating a stable, fluffy mixture that could be moulded into the familiar pillow-like shape we know today. The mini marshmallow version emerged later, offering the same sweet taste and soft texture in the perfect fun-sized package. Why are marshmallows pink and white? Marshmallows are traditionally white due to the color of their core ingredients which are sugar, water, and gelatin. However, in an effort to make these confections more appealing and fun, manufacturers started adding food coloring. The pink color, along with other shades, was introduced for visual appeal and differentiation, and doesn't typically indicate a change in flavor. Today, you can find marshmallows in a rainbow of colors and a variety of flavors, yet the classic pink and white endures. Try these classic pink and white mini marshmallows
Using Mini Marshmallows in Baking
Using mini marshmallows into your baking is a great way of getting creative with texture. Their small size allows them to melt evenly and quickly, creating pockets of gooey sweetness that give baked goods a uniquely soft and chewy texture. As they melt, mini marshmallows also infuse the surrounding batter or dough with their sugary flavour, adding a hint of vanilla that can elevate the taste of cookies, brownies, cakes, and more. Used as a topping, mini marshmallows form a gooey, lightly toasted crust. So, whether you're looking to add a new twist to a classic recipe or create something entirely new, mini marshmallows are a fantastic way to add an extra layer of taste and texture to your baked goods. We've also got multi-coloured rainbow mini marshmallows Ideas for Using Mini Marshmallows in Baking Marshmallow-Stuffed Cookies: Add a surprise sweet center to your favorite cookie recipe by placing a mini marshmallow inside each dough ball before baking. S'mores Brownies: Top your brownies with a layer of mini marshmallows, graham cracker crumbs, and chocolate chips before baking for an indoor take on this classic campfire treat. Marshmallow Popcorn Balls: Mix melted marshmallows and popcorn together, then form into balls for a sweet and salty snack. Marshmallow Rice Krispies Treats: An old-time favorite, combine puffed rice cereal with melted marshmallows and butter for a quick and delicious treat. Hot Cocoa Cookies: Incorporate mini marshmallows into a chocolate cookie dough, creating a baked version of the classic winter drink. Rocky Road Ice Cream: Stir mini marshmallows into your homemade chocolate ice cream along with nuts and chocolate chips for a delicious rocky road variation. Marshmallow Fudge: Melt mini marshmallows into your fudge base for a smooth, creamy fudge that's easy to make and delectable to eat. Fun and creativity with mini marshmallows Beyond baking itself, mini marshmallows are great for a bit of fun and creative decorating too. Marshmallow Flower Cupcakes Arrange mini marshmallows, cut in half to show the sticky side, in a flower shape on top of frosted cupcakes. Marshmallow Art Use to create fun, edible art on a sugar cookie canvas. Marshmallow Garland String on a thread to create a sweet garland, perfect for decorating a holiday tree or dessert table. Marshmallow-Topped Hot Cocoa Place on top of hot cocoa, and they'll create a delicious, melty topping as they warm up. Marshmallow Kebabs Thread onto toothpicks for a fun treat. You could even dip them into melted chocolate and biscuit crumbs for a mini take on s'mores. Marshmallow Necklace String onto a food-safe string to create an edible necklace, a perfect party favour for kids. Marshmallow Popcorn String Thread popcorn and marshmallows onto a string for a fun and edible decoration.
Tips and Techniques for Baking with Mini Marshmallows
Avoid Clumping: To prevent from sticking together in your recipes, try tossing them in a little bit of the dry ingredients before adding them in. Melt Evenly: When melting marshmallow, use a low heat and stir constantly to ensure an even melt and prevent burning. Protect their Fluffiness: If you're baking something like cookies or brownies, consider adding the marshmallows in the last few minutes of baking to maintain their fluffy texture. Experiment with Colours: They come in various colours, so don't hesitate to use them as a decorative tool for a pop of colour in your desserts. Store Properly: Remember to store unused in a cool, dry place to maintain their texture and prevent them from getting stale. Sizing Matters: While versatile, they may not be suitable for every recipe. For recipes that call for regular-sized marshmallows, remember that 8 to 10 mini marshmallows equate to one large marshmallow. Easy Replacement: A perfect substitute for marshmallow fluff in recipes. For every one cup of marshmallow fluff, use approximately two cups of mini marshmallows. We've got loads more lollies for you to try. Check out the full range. What Makes Basmati Rice Better than White Rice?
Basmati rice and white rice are two of the most popular types of rice. While both have their own merits, there are some advantages of Basmati rice that make it a better choice for many people. Here are some of the key reasons why Basmati rice sourced from a top rice manufacturer in India is always better than white rice.
Fortified with Essential Nutrients
One of the key differences between Basmati rice and white rice is the nutritional content. White rice is often stripped of its outer layer, which contains most of the nutrients. As a result, it is left with little nutritional value. In contrast, Basmati rice retains most of its nutritional content, making it a healthier choice.
Basmati rice is rich in essential nutrients such as vitamins, minerals, and fiber. It is a good source of B vitamins, including thiamin, riboflavin, and niacin, which are important for energy production and overall health. It also contains minerals such as potassium, magnesium, and iron, which are essential for maintaining proper bodily functions. Furthermore, Basmati rice is high in dietary fiber, which aids in digestion and helps to regulate blood sugar levels.
Offers Value as Whole Grain Cereal
Basmati rice is often available from Basumoti Banskathi rice supplier as a whole grain cereal. This means that it has not been processed or refined, and it still contains the bran, germ, and endosperm. Whole grain cereals are known for their health benefits, as they are associated with a lower risk of chronic diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, and certain types of cancer.
Whole grain Basmati rice is a good source of complex carbohydrates, which provide a steady source of energy. It is also rich in antioxidants, which help to protect the body against oxidative stress and inflammation. Additionally, whole grain Basmati rice has a lower glycemic index than white rice, which means it has a slower impact on blood sugar levels.
Low Arsenic Content
Finally, Basmati rice is known for its low arsenic content. Arsenic is a toxic element that can be found in the environment, and it can contaminate food and water. Long-term exposure to arsenic can have serious health consequences, including an increased risk of cancer and other diseases.
Studies have shown that Basmati rice has lower levels of arsenic compared to other types of rice, such as white rice. This makes it a safer choice for regular consumption, especially for individuals who are concerned about arsenic exposure.

Sakuraco Box #3 Review: Kyoto Leaves
Ah, Kyoto. Gliss and I actually visited Kyoto earlier in the year. We only stayed for a couple of days there, but in that time we went to the huge sweets floor (Isetan Department Food Floor) under Kyoto Station at least 3 times. Highly recommend.
Theme: Kyoto's Crimson Leaves
Arrived: October 26
# of Unique Snacks: 13 + 1 tea
Household Item: Brocade flower dish
Shipping Info:
Received Email - Oct 15
Shipment arrived in the US - Oct 17
Shipment made it to USPS - Oct 25
Delivered - Oct 26
Ok, to the box.
Yeah I probably don't need to say any more about that. Maybe I wasn't gentle enough peeling it off this time.
What I will say though is that they changed the sealing sticker! I do like this one better than the clear seal they used before. Although you might notice that it looks like there are two stickers, one on top of the other.. And peeling back one revealed
Which kind of made me raise an eyebrow, but it probably just means that for some reason they had to open and reseal the box in their facility.
I actual hit the image upload limit in this blog so I'll omit a picture of the back of the postcard this time. Although maybe starting next time I'll cut down on the outer box pictures. Anyway, this month's household good is... the Brocade Flower Dish!
Microwave and dishwasher safe. It's a bit bigger than the plate from last month and feels a bit more substantial overall (whereas the plate was comparatively thin and light). When I saw the images online I wasn't hugely enticed - it looked somewhat brittle in their pictures - but I actually like this a lot now that I have it.
—
Let's move on to the snacks.
A quick comment, but one thing I've noticed is that white chocolate strawberries used to be an exclusive to the Bokksu Seasons of Japan box, which is why I was very surprised last month to see Sakuraco include white chocolate strawberries as well. (Maybe they recently scored a contract with the white chocolate fruits manufacturer? Unless I missed that Sakuraco actually has had white chocolate fruit before.) In any case, that's why seeing these White Chocolate Fruits: Banana, caught my attention.
These were really good, actually. Taking a bite, it had a somewhat crunchy texture that melts in your mouth, with a flavor like a homemade banana smoothie. And yet, by the time you swallow, it feels like you just ate a piece of banana. I think I liked this more than the white chocolate strawberry because of how the texture adds to the experience of eating it, complementing the flavors and making the snack more memorable.
At this point, I became somewhat curious what that unlabeled, opaque package in the lower left was...
And it turned out to be the Soba Cookie.
From the name, it sounds like it might be savory but was basically like a vanilla cookie except it was very gently sweetened, letting other, subtle flavors stand out more. It had a nice texture and the right amount of crunch.
—
This helix looking thing — the Hinerinpon — also caught my eye. That is, a fried, savory arare. I'm not sure how they did it but it's pretty fun to look at.
I wouldn't say the flavor was anything particularly special (a rice cracker flavor similar to other snacks we've already tried), but I enjoyed it nonetheless.
—
Hm. So, this one looked a little broken, and when I took it out of the package, I could confirm...
It was pretty broken. It turns out this is this month's surprise snack, the Lemon Vinegar Arare. The name is really accurate and would probably be enough for anyone familiar with arare to know what to expect. It had some pretty strong lemon & spice seasoning on the outside while tasting more like standard rice puff on the inside.
—
Now one snack that I really wanted to try were these Matcha Cream Cookies.
That was the nice one. The second one also came a little broken but still kept itself basically together.
A bit of crunch on the outside (with that egg roll flavor) and on the inside, matcha cream with it's gentle flavor and slight bitterness. It really wasn't very sweet - the roll was definitely sweeter than the cream and I'm here for it. The creaminess of the filling paired very well with the shell.
—
We have a returning friend here. Thanks again to @Tsukana for commenting that last month I got this jelly instead of the September peach jelly! It really cleared up my confusion.
It turns out that these Adzuki Pear Jelly are actually supposed to split into two layers.
Surprisingly, I think this jelly is the sweetest thing I've had so far by a lot, an impression I didn't really get in the last box, maybe because everything else was so sweet this wasn't as sweet in comparison? Although it was still very enjoyable, of course.
Tea interlude
Now, I just wanted to point out that the tea instructions are more detailed this month! That's nice. It's also nice that I have two tea bags, each making 240ml (or about 1 cup) of tea. I bet Gliss will go 'UGH' when she sees this ha. [Note from Glissando: It is very annoying yes. 😐]
I'm still no tea expert so I can't say much besides it had a bit of a roasted grain flavor but also that herbal tea flavor? No bitterness though, and I thought it paired well well the snacks.
Back to the snacks...
This Momiji* Cookie looked similar to a cookie we got back in the Osaka box 2 months ago (except this time we only have 1), so I was expecting it to be the same flavor, but actually this one was a little bit different. It was a bit smaller, ever so slightly sweeter but not too sweet, and had a slightly more satisfying crunch/texture.
(*Momiji refers to Japanese maple leaves. Source: booklet.)
These hearts are the Heart Wasanbon** Senbei.
(**Wasanbon refers to Japanese sugar. Source: booklet.)
The senbei was pretty light, like a rice cracker with just a bit of sweetness dusted on the outside.
—
I was eyeing these Sansho*** Arare because they look pretty unique, kind of like squid if you know what dish I'm talking about.
(***Sansho refers to domestic Japanese pepper. Source: booklet.)
The first one I had was alright, a cracker with some soy sauce and pepper? I couldn't quite articulate all my thoughts on the flavor, so I went for a second one which ended up being... *yikes*!! I'm not sure how much pepper congregated onto that one but the pepper was way too strong and it numbed my tongue for a solid 10 minutes. It was that kind of numbness you get from eating a non-ripe persimmon or from some types of spicy dishes. That was a bit much for me and this is probably the first snack that I didn't want to finish because... *yikes* Maybe it would be unique and enjoyable for other people though.
—
These Nikki Yatsuhashi came a little broken too, but I didn't particularly mind because I feel like it made it easier to share.
They were sweet with a strong cinnamon taste. Enough that you kind of get a gingerbread impression, but the texture is different: it's hard, thin and kind of sticks to your teeth after chewing.
—
Yuzu Dorayaki
Similar to the pancake from the previous month, but this one was a bit more moist maybe, and it had a white bean paste filling. I felt like over all, the bean paste and cake went together pretty well. Not too heavy, but still a bit rich.
—
We actually got another filled pancake snack, the Uji Koicha Bouchée. (below, on the right).
The cake on this one was puffier and a bit more dry, with a matcha cream filling. I'm not really saying anything much about the yuzu or matcha flavor because at this point in my snack tasting, my tongue was still kind of numb from the Sansho Arare and I probably wasn't picking up the nuance of the flavors that well? Like I had a hard time detecting the matcha at all, but that's probably not on the snack itself. [Note from Glissando: I would not take that bet. These cake filling snacks show up often in Bokksu and the fillings almost always have trouble coming through in flavor.]
—
Asobi Arare
A bag of assorted rice crackers. The light one was sweet and salty, the dark one to it's right is covered in seaweed, the one below that one was more puffed while the others were more like thin crackers, etc. It was pretty fun to taste them and pick out their differences in flavor.
—
Candy bowl! Specifically, the traditional handmade Kyoto candies, Kyo no Ame.
I'm not a candy person but they looked so well made. Here's a close up of one.
The yellow one (ginger flavored I think) even has little sesame seeds in it. I ended up having the one in the picture above and at first it just tasted like a fruit lollypop, but then I'm sitting here typing this with it still in my mouth and it suddenly starts tasting a bit salty and tangy (??). Here I was thinking that they didn't really do anything with the flavor, and I stand corrected. That was actually a pretty fun surprise.
—
Alright, something new.
This time we'll also be counting grams of food provided, which could help with our comparison of food quantity. It won't be the only thing we take into consideration (the different types, variety of flavors, sweet salty ratio, etc) when comparing quantity but I think it might help to have. A quick comment though, on the bottom row of the nutrition sheet above I'm seeing a "Sakura Kompeito" listed on there, which wasn't in the box and also isn't in the booklet? So maybe that was a mix up with the bonus snacks and they meant to put the Lemon Vinegar Arare on mine.
Anyway, after doing some counting... It looks like this box has the following stats:
Grams of food: 384g. This is not including the Lemon Vinegar Arare (although that snack was very light). The tea bags were 3g each. Sweet-Salty ratio: 8 sweet, 4 salty, and 2 that I don't really feel like belong in either category.
While it still looks like there were a lot of sweets in this box, many of them weren't 'too sweet' for me. Which I actually really appreciate. As you probably know by now (or maybe you don't), I'm really not a huge fan of things that are too sweet, and last box was *very* sweet. I like how this time they took a step back and let some other flavors shine.
Another noteworthy thing is that it felt like there were a lot of bite sized things this box. So maybe more variety but less quantity for individual snacks, which I didn't mind. Partly because some of these flavors were already familiar to me so I didn't particularly mind only having like one cookie.
Ok that's all for now. Half way point in our 6 month subscriptions!
Have a good one.

Natural Nutrition
Nutrition is one of the key decisions that you will make in order to maintain your dog's health.Wellnessbeing The food you feed your dog is what drives him to a longer and healthier life. You can choose from several different types of food to feed your dog. These two groups can be reduced to two categories: heavily-processed and manufactured food, and natural nutrition.
Some people believe that feeding "natural" dog food to their dogs will increase longevity and wellness. Commercial food is perceived by supporters as less able to provide the proper nutrition for dogs. They argue that commercial processed food is too processed, and contains unnecessary additives and chemicals. They feel that some of these foods are harmful to your dog or interfere with his/her ability to achieve their full potential. What is natural nutrition, and why should it be good for my dog?
Natural Nutrition
The term natural nutrition is used to describe certain dog food products. Natural means that it contains no synthetic additives. It is not contaminated with pesticides, chemical preservatives, or any other synthetic additives. Natural food is the source. Organic meat, fish and grains, as well as vegetables, are the top sources. Holistic is another term you may hear. However, there is a distinction between the two kinds of nutrition suppliers.
The United States Department of Agriculture's National Organic Program (USDA), or the equivalent program in Canada and Europe, has approved organic food. The ingredients are free of hormones, pesticides or chemicals at all stages in their production. The addition of grains, vegetables, and meat to the diet is not accompanied by the use of chemicals or preservatives at any stage of manufacturing.
Organic is not the same as holistic nutrition. There are differences between organic and holistic nutrition. Holistic nutrition forms part of an overall system that promotes health and wellbeing. The goal of holistic nutrition is to improve the health of animals.
Basic Natural Nutrition
Read the label to find out what is in the dog food and if it's healthy. Is it a good source of nutrients? Is it the correct type and amount?
What natural/organic/holistic nutritional food consists of is written clearly for you to read. Take a look at the label. Look at the label.
It is the first ingredient that appears on the label. This indicates what the biggest percentage of food is made up of. The first ingredient on the label should be one of these.
* Whole poultry * Whole Chicken * Whole Lamb Venison whole * Whole meats
Meat by-products are not natural nutrition. The term meat products can be used to describe anything, from ground giblets to horse hooves. The highest level of nutrition is found in whole meats.
Whole grains are the next thing to take into consideration. Natural nutrition, unlike commercial products relies heavily on whole grains. These products do not contain wheat, white rice or flour. These contain brown and oats instead. They are richer in fiber and easy on the stomach.
Preservatives are necessary. Natural alternatives are used in organic and holistic dog foods. Tocopherols and vitamin E are examples. Rosemary is one of them. They will help to fight diseases in your dog. This food contains phytonutrients, which are found in fruits and vegetables such as carrots, apples, blueberries and parsley. They promote your dog's health and well-being.
Raw food is not natural nutrition. This means feeding your dog a nutritious diet. Combining whole grains, meat, and phytonutrients with antioxidants can be a powerful combination. These ingredients will help you dog live a healthy and long life.
