Super Eagles captain, John Mikel Obi, 31, has signed for Championship club Middlesbrough on a short term deal until the end of the season. The former Chelsea midfielder who became a free agent in November after a two-year spell with Tianjin Teda in China passed his medical with Tony Pulis' side without a hitch after agreeing on personal terms. Mikel who won both the Champions League and Europa League with Chelsea told the club's website: 'For me, it's looking at the project. 'I spoke to a few clubs and I also spoke to Tony , had a good chat with him. 'He's told me where he wants to go with it and it definitely fits with what I want to do. 'The club wants to get promoted so hopefully, I'm here to help in any way I can. 'It's a family club and this is what I want. I like stability and this is why I was at Chelsea for a very long time.' West Brom boss Tony Pulis has dismissed links to the Wales job. The 59-year-old, who was born in Newport, has been installed as one of the favourites for the role with current manager Chris Coleman assessing his future. Wales failed to qualify for the World Cup after a 1-0 home defeat to the Republic of Ireland on Monday ended their hopes of reaching the play-offs. Coleman has said he is considering his position after previously saying it would be his final campaign, but Pulis has initially rejected any speculation. He said: “I’m quite happy where I am and I think it’s wrong we’re even talking about someone who’s still in a job. “Chris has done a fantastic job there and he’ll be very disappointed at the moment, as the nation are. Time is a great healer, we’ll see what Chris does in the next couple of months.” . . . . . #tonypulis #wales #walesnt #walesnationalteam #fifaworldcupqualifiers #worldcupqualifier #worldcupqualifiers #worldcupqualifiers2018 #chriscoleman #worldcup2018 #westbrom #westbromwich #westbromwichalbion #wbafc #westbromwichalbionfc #pl (at The Hawthorns)

“Just don’t know how to win” - Loads of Middlesbrough fans slam key figure
Middlesbrough’s grip on a play-off place loosened on Wednesday night as Tony Pulis’ side slumped to a 2-1 defeat against Preston North End at the Riverside Stadium.
Boro took a first half lead through Ashley Fletcher, but the sending off of Spanish centre-back Daniel Ayala after the break saw the momentum of the match swing in the Lilywhites’ favour. Pulis was not able to manage the situation, and North End applied continual pressure until they got the goals they needed to snatch a win.
The defeat marked Middlsbrough’s second loss in a row, with them previously having squandered a lead against Brentford in similar circumstances.
Boro’s present inability to defend leads is worrying, especially as the club are verging on falling out of the play-off places. Pulis must find a way to arrest this slide, but some fans are losing patience with the coach.
Following the loss to Preston, plenty of Boro fans took to Twitter to express their frustrations with the manager…
I’m being honest here Paul, but somehow Tony Pulis has managed to drain all enthusiasm from myself (and others) concerning the club. I don’t know how he does it but West Brom fans said it would happen, I’ve no interest now in press releases or statements at all.

Players’ not happy Tony – if they were, they’d be banging goals in for fun . You’ve suffocated the fans spirit , ruined the home atmosphere ( it wasn’t great ) and proved that Stoke and WBA fans were right all along – Leave now

#tonypulis you just don’t know how to win, dont blame the sending off, that was a clear red card. All season long your tactics have been defensive, @LUFC @SUFC_tweets @NorwichCityFC all play pressing football and are good to watch score goals for fun. @Boro so poor.

Tony Pulis accused Arsenal’s “cheating” Alexis Sanchez of diving and believes West Brom should have been awarded a penalty during their 2-0 defeat at the Emirates Stadium. Jay Rodriguez was brought down in the area by the clumsy Shkodran Mustafi in the eighth minute but he returned to his feet and forced Petr Cech to tip his shot onto a post as referee Robert Madley appeared to play the advantage. Sanchez had by then already curled wide a free-kick he won on the edge of the area after a challenge from Craig Dawson, and on the occasion of Gareth Barry’s record 633rd Premier League appearance, Pulis remained angry at both incidents. “The disappointing thing is Sanchez falls for the first free-kick, that’s cheating,” said the West Brom manager, who also felt Mustafi should have been sent off, to Sky Sports. “Jay is very honest and does not get rewarded. Everyone saw what happened. Sanchez actually dives for the first free-kick and he should be booked for diving. “Then you see the tackle in the box. The referee had a great view. Everyone has seen it and can make their minds up.” . . . . . #tonypulis #alexissanchez #westbrom #westbromwichalbion #westbromwich #wbafc #arsenal #afc #arsenalfc #premierleague #pl (at Emirates Stadium)
