Location: Warren's Private Workshop

Characters: Alastor, Astrid

As Astrid stared up at the looming beast of metal - the core wedged deep in its chest pulsing with an a toxic, resounding aquamarine - her mind looped back to Warren.

God, Warren, what have you done?

Ahhh, poor Astrid. Lover and longtime best friend to our beloved Warren, Astrid Cordova is as brave as she is selfless.

Of course, this selfless drive is what leads her to her death. Just a few hours before she has to catch a flight out of the states, to get away from Warren's warpath, she returns to give him one last goodbye. A way to tell him that she still loves him.

Astrid doesn't find Warren. She finds Alastor, Warren's Ultron, an AI shoved into a suit of mass destruction. Warren's own creation, made only to take down Tony Stark.

Warren finds Astrid an hour later, throat slit, blood drained. Alastor's words easily wrap around Warren's already flayed brain, tricking him into believing that Tony did this.

Tony Hunter (Fred Astaire), um famoso astro de cinema cantor/dançarino, está se sentindo esquecido e menosprezado. Os repórteres estão querendo mesmo Ava Gardner, e não ele. Seus velhos amigos Lily e Les Martin (Nanette Fabray e Oscar Levant) tem uma ideia para um pequeno show engraçado na Broadway e ele concorda em fazer. Mas as coisas começam a ficar fora de controle quando o Big Shot "artístico", o diretor / produtor / estrela Jeffrey Cordova (Jack Buchanan) junta-se à produção, proclama que é um Fausto modernista e insiste na contratação de uma bailarina, Gabrielle Gerard (Cyd Charisse), para estrelar ao lado de Tony, e então... é ódio à primeira vista. E seu coreógrafo ciumento não está ajudando nem um pouco a aliviar a tensão. O show está condenado por ser pretensioso. Mas o romance, a epifania de "vamos fazer um show", e uma abertura triunfal estão prestes a decolar. Afinal de contas, esta é uma comédia musical!

Tangerine Flavour y Suso Díaz en el Inverfest

Desde hace ya un tiempo Inverfest se ha convertido en una referencia en la vida cultural de Madrid. Este año será la novena edición del festival y como siempre da cabida en su cartel a un nutrido grupo de artistas, consagrados o que están en el camino de serlo, que le hace ser un evento único. Dentro de ese ciclo nos encontramos con una fecha que nos hace una ilusión enorme y es que el 1 de febrero Tangerine Flavour y Suso Díaz & The Appaloosas estarán en la mítica sala El Sol formando parte del cartel del Inverfest 2022. Una ocasión perfecta para disfrutar de dos bandas con poderosos directos en los cuales defienden a la perfección sus canciones, unas canciones que transitan entre la Americana, el rock o el blues y que cuentan historias francas y directas, de esas que todos hemos vivido en algún momento de nuestras vidas. Las entradas para este concierto están ya disponibles en el siguiente enlace.

Para el concierto del 1 de febrero ambas formaciones llegarán con discos nuevos y recién estrenados. Una oportunidad perfecta de disfrutar de Tangerine Flavour, esa banda que nació hace casi ya 10 años, desde el sonido de un pedal steel, de unas letras de Tom Petty y de la actitud de The Band. Son el nexo perfecto para unir la música americana de los 60 y 70 con los tiempos que vivimos. Saben muy bien de donde vienen pero mejor aún hacia donde quieren ir. Su primer disco, No Hard Feelings (2018) fue la mejor prueba posible. Sonidos americanos que no dejaban de lado el pop y el rock. Acaban de terminar de grabar con Josu García (Loquillo, Amaral, La Tercera República), Mark Janipka y Toni Brunet en Audiomatic Studios, lo que será su segundo álbum, un disco en donde el jazz, el blues y el rock clásico se darán la mano.

Suso Díaz es uno de esos trovadores que bien podría haber nacido en los años 60 o 70. Con una voz profunda y que llega directa a nuestros corazones y cerebros lleva recorriendo los procelosos caminos de la música con sus inseparables The Appaloosas. Suso Díaz nos ha ido presentando durante los últimos años trabajos donde crea paisajes sonoros reconocibles, paisajes que van desde la música de raíces norteamericana hasta la Americana más moderna por la cual se siente tremenda mente influenciado. Al escucharle pensaremos que han metido en una coctelera un poco de Springsteen o de Petty, incluso de sus adorados Cordovas, pero lo que sí está claro es que Suso Díaz ha sabido crear una marca reconocible a nivel sonoro

I know that there's the whole celebrities aren't our friends thing and I thought I outgrew being disappointed in them, I though I no longer expected anything from famous people

that being said, taika waititi being in support of genocide shocked me, since he was always talking about indigenous pride etc etc

please don't put obsessing over a celebrity and needing them to be good over your own morals

(for people that don't know what I'm talking about - some celebs signed a letter supporting what biden and Israel are doing, and some other celebs signed a letter in support of ceasefire. Taika's name wasn't in the second letter)

ThanksKilling (2007)

While I didn't enjoy this film, that doesn't mean you won't. No matter what I say, the people involved in this project did it: they actually made a movie. That's something to be applauded. With that established...

ThanksKilling is barely a movie. It lasts just over an hour, and those sixty minutes are like bamboo spikes beneath your fingernails. It’s bad enough the cast is uniformly atrocious, the special effects are pathetic and that the film is never funny or scary, but you can just tell no one involved in the making of this film was even trying. As if their lack of effort would somehow translate into comedy gold. This brutality is available on DVD for purchase. That's a crime.

Five high school students (played, of course, by actors in their mid to late 20’s) become the targets of Turkie (voiced by Jordan Downey), a 510-year-old foul-mouthed bird hell-bent on killing all white people in retaliation for the pilgrims’ treatment of Native Americans.

This is the kind of soul-crushing comedy that’s made to be intentionally bad, which means it’s about as pleasant as snorting a bowl of boiling gravy. Only the worst of idiot filmmakers - the ones devoid of all sense - believe that cult classics can happen on purpose and they always fare about as well as a vegan doing overtime at a slaughterhouse. Anyone can gather up their friends, tell them to bring their Z-Game and spend 12 minutes writing a script. The difference between director Jordan Downey and someone as untalented as say… Tommy Wiseau is that one has passion, the other has only disdain for the audience. Picking up a camera and shooting something like ThanksKilling takes no skill whatsoever, as the film demonstrates numerous times. It thinks it’s spoofing holiday-themed horror movies but it can’t even manage that, leading me to believe no one involved in the production of this long-cold pail of vomit has ever even SEEN the likes of Halloween, Black Christmas, Prom Night, My Bloody Valentine or April Fool’s Day. You won’t find a scene where a cellphone fails to operate, the killer is hiding in the back seat or the characters split up when they should be locking the doors. This film is not clever enough to make fun of those tropes. Instead, it delivers puns so painful they feel like punches in the throat. The jokes are excruciating. They're also obvious. None of them are clever and are delivered with all of the grace of a Girls Gone Wild video. In fact, the beginning of the film is kinda like one, as we are served up a platter of unappealing, shameless and pointless nudity. Each aspect of this picture is enough to make you want to set yourself on fire and then jump in a tub of rotting hog intestines in the hopes of returning as a vengeful ghost to haunt everyone involved in this film’s production until the day they take their own lives.

Any sane person would look at the so-called “selling points” advertised on the DVD cover of ThanksKilling and recognize that a mistake has been made, that garbage belongs in the bin with all of the moldy potato skins rather than the shelf. For those, like me, who do not have a sense of self-preservation, a new level of hatred awaits them. The intensity with which I regret having watched ThanksKilling can hardly be expressed by words.
