[Prologue]
Summary: You and Frederik have a deep connection that dates back to your early childhood, having been best friends since you were just three years old. October 2007
It was just another ordinary Tuesday evening when you found yourself at the Andersens' house for Frederik’s 18th birthday family dinner. The warm, inviting scent of home-cooked food filled the air as you walked into the familiar home with your dad - a place that felt almost like a second home, as you’d spent countless hours there over the years, growing up alongside Frederik Andersen.
_
Your connected stories began long before you were born, when your dads, childhood friends, played for the local Herning Blue Fox hockey team, where they shared dreams of hockey stardom and a bond forged on the ice and in the locker rooms, their friendship only growing stronger over time.
However, when your dad was just 20 years old, his life took a turn, when he got an amazing chance to pursue a hockey career overseas in Ontario, Canada. Playing for the London Knights, his career took off, and for a while, everything seemed so perfect. But fate had other plans, and a serious knee injury abruptly ended his dreams, just before any chances for the bigger leagues, making him reconsider his future. And instead of returning home to Denmark, he decided to settle down in London Ontario, married your mum, and a few years later, you and your twin brother, Tom, were born.
Yet, misfortunes never come alone, and tragedy struck your family when you were just three years old - your mother sadly died in a car accident, leaving a huge void in your lives. And in the wake of this devastating loss, your father decided to return to his roots, seeking comfort and support in his hometown. So, your now smaller family moved into a house just a few doors down from the Andersens, bringing a sense of familiarity and reassurance during a difficult time.
And Ernst and Charlotte Andersen were a real blessing during this period. Ernst, with his connections and steadfast support, helped your father get a job at the local sports club, bringing some stability to his professional life. Meanwhile Charlotte, with her caring nature and endless compassion, stepped in to offer love and support. She often helped out with you and Tom when your father had to work late, providing a comforting presence and a helping hand. In short, their kindness was beyond measure.
This was probably why you and Frederik had become so close over the years. Despite the three-year age gap, you spent nearly every day together, and your bond was hard to put into words. It might have been due to your shared love for hockey, a passion you both inherited from your fathers and indulged in at the rink. You would spend hours there with your dad and his friends, like Ernst, bonding over the sport. Meanwhile, Tom, who had a deeper passion for football, attended a sports boarding school on the other side of the country, leaving you alone with your dad for the rest of the school year.
_
Still, you didn’t mind at all. Frederik was your closest friend, and sitting next to him during the meal that night felt completely natural. You cherished these moments, especially now as Frederik was about to step into adulthood and start his promising hockey career as a highly skilled goaltender. And as his best friend, you were beyond proud of him and excited about what the future held for him.
As the meal finally came to an end, Frederik turned to you with a cheeky grin on his fair, red-haired face. “Finished?” he asked. You nodded with a smile. His younger siblings, Sebastian and Amalie, had already headed to their rooms, and the youngest Andersen, Valdemar, was snuggled up in his mum’s lap. “Wanna get out of here?” he suggested, noticing that the adults were still engrossed in a serious conversation, leaving you and Frederik eager for a bit of private time.
"Absolutely," you replied swiftly, giving Charlotte a warm smile and heartfelt thanks for the lovely meal.
Charlotte had always been like a second mother to you, a role she took on since you never had one of your own. She was the most nurturing person you’d ever known, treating you as if you were her own daughter both before and after Amalie was born. Her kindness and warmth had simply always been a steady source of comfort and stability in your life.
So, with dishes in hand, you and Frederik laughed and joked as you made your way to the kitchen. The rhythmic clinking of plates and cutlery was a backdrop to your easy conversation, a soundtrack to the familiar and comforting routine you both enjoyed. And once the dishes were set in the machine, you headed to his room down the hall.
Frederik’s room was nothing but a testament to his passion for hockey and his journey so far. Posters of hockey legends and heroes covered the walls, each image reflecting the spirit of the sport he adored. Framed photos of his father and mementos from his hockey career were displayed on the shelves, alongside game tickets from around the world that he’d attended with his dad, and sometimes with the whole family. Hockey jerseys, sticks, and various pieces of memorabilia filled the room, creating a shrine to the sport that had shaped Frederik’s life. And these familiar sights only made you smile as you settled onto his one-and-a-half-person bed.
Although you never played hockey yourself, you were a passionate fan. You loved watching Frederik play and spent countless hours at the rink with his teammates and friends. You even volunteered to help with younger teams and eagerly went to any ice-skating events that came up.
“So, any birthday wishes?” you asked Frederik with a warm smile as he settled into a lounge stool in front of you.
“Not really,” he chuckled. “Honestly, I just wish for success in my hockey career,” he said modestly. That was very typical of Frederik. He wasn’t one to talk much or share his deep thoughts in public. He always stayed humble, even though his talent as a goalie was clear to everyone. And success seemed almost inevitable for him, one way or another.
"Well, we all know that's going to happen," you said with a playful grin. "Come on, there must be something else?"
Frederik didn’t answer straight away. Instead, there was a pause as he seemed to wrestle with his thoughts; something personal and perhaps even a bit awkward was clearly on his mind. It was unusual for him to hesitate like this. He had always been open with you, sharing his deepest thoughts and insecurities, and your close bond was something neither of you had with anyone else. But this time, he seemed reluctant to speak, and you respected his choice to share or not. Even though you were curious, you wouldn’t pressure him into revealing something he wasn’t comfortable with.
"Well... there is something," Frederik finally said, fidgeting with his fingers and scratching the back of his neck. "Or rather, not something, but something I’d like to do," he admitted softly, glancing down with a hint of nervousness in his voice.
"Freddie, you can tell me," you said gently, trying to catch his eye and reassuring him that he was in a safe space with just the two of you.
"It's a bit embarrassing," he admitted, finally looking at you and offering a shy, blushing smile.
You could tell he really wanted to share his thoughts, and your curiosity grew with each passing moment. "I’m your best friend, Freddie; nothing’s too embarrassing," you reassured him softly, which prompted him to let out a deep sigh as he gathered his thoughts.
"Well, you see... the thing is..." he struggled to find the right words. "I’ve never... you know... done 'it'," he almost blurted out, his freckled cheeks turning a deep crimson as his gaze fixed on the wooden floor of his room.
The room fell into silence as the meaning of his words sank in.
"Oh," was all you could say at first, your mind processing his revelation. "Wait... what?" you added, slightly bewildered by what Frederik had just shared. "You’ve never done it?" Your voice carried genuine surprise.
"Shhh..." Frederik quickly hushed you. "I don’t want Seb to find out too."
"Sorry..." you whispered back, keeping your voice low and calm. "I’m just so surprised," you added, meeting Frederik’s gaze as his blush slowly faded and his fair skin returned to its normal colour.
"Why’s that?" he asked, his expression a mix of slight offence and confusion.
But you simply mustered a warm smile for him. "Well, have you met yourself?" you chuckled lightly. "Freddie, you’re one of the most amazing guys I know. You’re kind and wonderful," you said sincerely, looking earnestly at your best friend. "Besides, you have so many friends, both guys and girls, so I just assumed that you’ve..." you trailed off, earning a small smile from him.
Your words touched him, and he knew you meant every one of them.
"Well, I guess I’ve just never been with someone I felt strongly enough about to take that step," he explained, the slight tension between you gradually easing, along with your body language.
"What about Maya?" you asked, referring to the girl Frederik had dated from the ice figure skating team.
It was something of a 'tradition' among the hockey boys to date girls from their own age group, and Frederik had connected with Maya, a tall, fit beauty with big brown eyes and light brown hair. Quite different from your appearance. You were shorter, with light hair and summer freckles, and you had more curves—breasts, hips, and thighs. Not that you were unhappy with how you looked; it was just that you were different from the other girls often seen around Frederik and his hockey friends.
"We never actually did it... I mean, we did 'stuff'—and it was nice, but we never went all the way," he explained, and you nodded in understanding.
"Why not?" you asked, curiosity clear in your voice.
Frederik shrugged. "I guess I just wasn’t ready... and I didn’t feel comfortable going all the way with her…” There was a pause, and you gave him a simple nod before he continued. “What about you?” he asked in return.
But no, you hadn’t done it either. You hadn’t even had a boyfriend or anything close to one. Although you had many friends, including boys, none had ever shown an interest in you in that way. Some of Frederik’s friends had made a move or two, but it was mostly in jest. Besides, Frederik had always made it clear that you were off-limits in that regard.
So you shook your head gently. “No,” you said softly.
“Fair enough,” Frederik replied with a friendly smile. “I mean, you shouldn’t do it if you’re not ready, or just because everyone else is.”
And of course, you knew that. You’d never felt pressured to explore those aspects of yourself, even though many of your closest girlfriends had started to do so with their first loves. But with that said, you had begun to explore on your own, inspired by what they’d shared in your close-knit girl group.
You had started slowly, with gentle touches on your breasts, softly massaging them and lightly pinching your nipples a few times. Then you’d moved your fingertips down your torso, gently rubbing what you had come to understand as the clitoris—a small, sensitive area that brought you pleasure, even though it felt a bit odd at first. And so, with patience and practice, you learned to enjoy the soft circular movements, which elicited soft moans. Gradually, you began exploring further, starting with a finger at your entrance, learning how to gently please yourself.
Yet, the idea of having someone else do it for you was still somewhat new and intriguing.
"I know… but the thing is..." you almost whispered, your mind wrestling with whether or not to share your thoughts. "I think I’m actually ready…" you admitted, once again meeting Frederik’s gaze, which prompted a small ‘oh’ from him.
"Really?" he asked, sounding a bit more surprised than he meant to. You nodded in response.
"Yeah... I don’t know why exactly... I guess I’m just really curious about it," you said, keeping your voice low and steady as you looked to Frederik for his reaction. You hoped he wouldn’t judge your sudden revelation, and as always he didn’t.
His expression remained gentle and composed, though he seemed slightly conflicted about whether to continue the conversation or end it before it veered into suggestions that could impact your friendship. But in the end, he decided to move forward.
"So…" he began, trying again to find the right words. "Do you have anyone in mind?"
You shook your head. No, you hadn’t thought of anyone in particular for this. It had simply been an intriguing idea that had crossed your mind recently.
For some reason, Frederik felt a wave of relief wash over him. Although he knew he had no claim over you, the thought of another guy touching you felt slightly odd for him. And then, a thought struck.
He had an idea but wasn’t sure if it was too bold for both of you to share such an intimate experience. “What if…” Frederik began tentatively, breaking the silence that had settled between you. “What if you and I, you know, did it?” The words hung in the air, and he seemed genuinely surprised by his own boldness.
You were momentarily taken aback. The idea wasn’t entirely new to you—it had crossed your mind once or twice—but you had never expected Frederik to bring it up. Yet, his suggestion made your heart race, and it also brought a small, intrigued smile to your face.
After a brief pause, you gently nibbled on your lower lip and looked at him thoughtfully. “It wouldn’t be awkward, would it?” you asked hesitantly, the vulnerability in your voice evident.
Frederik let out a soft sigh, a blend of relief and contemplation in his eyes. "How about we just call it... one friend helping another?" he suggested playfully, trying to lighten the mood and ease the tension. And his suggestion made you chuckle softly, and you found yourself nodding in agreement.
"Agreed," you replied softly.

I'm watching Pork Pie and it is INCREDIBLE! (I know I've waited very long to watch it, seven years) I'm only like eights minutes in, but I encourage everyone to see it. The music, the acting from Dean O'Gorman, it's produced by Tom Hern, Antonia Prebble and Siobhan Marshall is in it!

Closed the nomination form! I made a list with all nominations by category! I'll accept suggestions of stuff to move around (change a character from minor to one of the other lists, but not the other way around cause the minor list is long enough). The Main Character list is a bit awkward with 18 characters, but I'm not really willing to move any away from it even if people might disagree? Unless I see a very strong argument.
the only nominations that didn't get in were the artifacts, since people voted for those to have their own poll later on!

Robin of Sherwood 1.2
'You really should read more,' says the Sheriff (his name is Robert. I keep forgetting.) I am living for the bickering between him and his brother.
So does Robin now have regular appointments with Herne the Hunter to receive mystical advice and drink strange potions?
Oh help we're using the Baron's face as a background again. Robin hasn't actually met the guy yet, has he? Just knows him as a sort of overlay to vague disturbing events.
'What must I do?' 'Act without thinking!' *cut to Robin scrapping with the merry men* uhhh good job taking the (frankly unusual) advice...
It's funny, when the silver arrow was first brought up I thought that they should use it for the classic archery contest, but had no memory of such a thing and assumed they didn't have one. I was wrong.
Robin's disguise is actually pretty good, if you ignore his remarkably unwrinkled face for a white-bearded man. Everyone else is employing the Different Clothes And Also A Hat approach.
By this point Robin has definitely seen the Baron, but gives no indication of recognising the man who has been wallpapered across his mind on two recent occasions.
Little John's facial expressions during the end of the archery contest are a thing of beauty.
At this point I took a break from watching the episode, and when I went back to it the notes I was typing up didn't save. So things that I remember typing out:
Nasir! I remember liking him! This means that while he and Robin are fighting I was all just 'No, what are you doing, you should be on the same side!" But fighting people you will later be friends with is a very Robin Hood thing to do.
RIP Tom and Dickon, at least I kind of remember your existence this time around, aided by the flashbacks we get during the viking funeral.
There was a bit where the Abbot yells "I'll have you excommunicated!" and the Sheriff replies, "Have him hanged, it's quicker," which I wrote down.
I made a joke about Marion (who in this episode is kidnapped by the Baron for marriage/ritual/luring Robin in purposes and briefly ends up tied to a pentagram) yelling IT’S A TRAP Admiral Ackbar-style, but now I can't remember it.
And finally I took some pictures of dubious quality with my phone camera. I present them here:
Marion tied to the pentagram (by the Baron's Evil LadiesTM who lounge against his chair when not needed for Evil Purposes)
Marion in Sherwood after she's been rescued (note that the ethereal glow is not my phone; she looks like that on screen)
The happy couple, having just been married by a stag-man/god/whatever (I guess Marion's converted to Herne-worship? The religion of many people in this show is unclear)
Anyway I will strive to watch the next episode sooner. I think the next one has a witch trial?

Sometimes a Wild God
by Tom Hirons
So beautiful and evocative, I had to share with all my writing friends. I grew up pagan, so I think of Herne, but fellow Skyrim fans will also think of Hircine.
@dirty-bosmer @gwilin-stay-winnin @mareenavee @skyrim-forever @thana-topsy @thechaosdragoness @thequeenofthewinter
Sometimes a wild god comes to the table.
He is awkward and does not know the ways
Of porcelain, of fork and mustard and silver.
His voice makes vinegar from wine.
When the wild god arrives at the door,
You will probably fear him.
He reminds you of something dark
That you might have dreamt,
Or the secret you do not wish to be shared.
He will not ring the doorbell;
Instead he scrapes with his fingers
Leaving blood on the paintwork,
Though primroses grow
In circles round his feet.
You do not want to let him in.
You are very busy.
It is late, or early, and besides…
You cannot look at him straight
Because he makes you want to cry.
The dog barks.
The wild god smiles,
Holds out his hand.
The dog licks his wounds
And leads him inside.
The wild god stands in your kitchen.
Ivy is taking over your sideboard;
Mistletoe has moved into the lampshades
And wrens have begun to sing
An old song in the mouth of your kettle.
‘I haven’t much,’ you say
And give him the worst of your food.
He sits at the table, bleeding.
He coughs up foxes.
There are otters in his eyes.
When your wife calls down,
You close the door and
Tell her it’s fine.
You will not let her see
The strange guest at your table.
The wild god asks for whiskey
And you pour a glass for him,
Then a glass for yourself.
Three snakes are beginning to nest
In your voicebox. You cough.
Oh, limitless space.
Oh, eternal mystery.
Oh, endless cycles of death and birth.
Oh, miracle of life.
Oh, the wondrous dance of it all.
You cough again,
Expectorate the snakes and
Water down the whiskey,
Wondering how you got so old
And where your passion went.
The wild god reaches into a bag
Made of moles and nightingale-skin.
He pulls out a two-reeded pipe,
Raises an eyebrow
And all the birds begin to sing.
The fox leaps into your eyes.
Otters rush from the darkness.
The snakes pour through your body.
Your dog howls and upstairs
Your wife both exults and weeps at once.
The wild god dances with your dog.
You dance with the sparrows.
A white stag pulls up a stool
And bellows hymns to enchantments.
A pelican leaps from chair to chair.
In the distance, warriors pour from their tombs.
Ancient gold grows like grass in the fields.
Everyone dreams the words to long-forgotten songs.
The hills echo and the grey stones ring
With laughter and madness and pain.
In the middle of the dance,
The house takes off from the ground.
Clouds climb through the windows;
Lightning pounds its fists on the table.
The moon leans in through the window.
The wild god points to your side.
You are bleeding heavily.
You have been bleeding for a long time,
Possibly since you were born.
There is a bear in the wound.
‘Why did you leave me to die?’
Asks the wild god and you say:
‘I was busy surviving.
The shops were all closed;
I didn’t know how. I’m sorry.’
Listen to them:
The fox in your neck and
The snakes in your arms and
The wren and the sparrow and the deer…
The great un-nameable beasts
In your liver and your kidneys and your heart…
There is a symphony of howling.
A cacophony of dissent.
The wild god nods his head and
You wake on the floor holding a knife,
A bottle and a handful of black fur.
Your dog is asleep on the table.
Your wife is stirring, far above.
Your cheeks are wet with tears;
Your mouth aches from laughter or shouting.
A black bear is sitting by the fire.
Sometimes a wild god comes to the table.
He is awkward and does not know the ways
Of porcelain, of fork and mustard and silver.
His voice makes vinegar from wine
And brings the dead to life.

It is generally chronological; and since it is for Tamlin Week, it has a slight focus on Tamlin, though most of the songs apply to both Tamlin and Feyre. Cover image is from an illustration by Stephanie Law of The Ballad of Tam Lin.
Song listing with notes below:
Tam Lin by Mediæval Bæbes
“And at the end of seven years We pay a tiend to Hell. I am sae fair and fu' of flesh I'm feared it be myself.”
“Tiend” is also known as “tithe.” The Hell tithe, as described, was a payment that had to be given, every seven years, of a fairy to Hell. It is not commonly referred to in fairy mythology; the Ballad of Tam Lin is one of the few mentions of it.
2. Howl by Tanya Tagaq
A lament for the sentries killed in the curse.
3. The Curse by Agnes Obel
“It was swift, it was just another wave of a miracle
But no one, nothing at all would go for the kill
If they called on every soul in the land, on the moon
Only then would they know a blessing in disguise
The curse ruled from the underground, down by the shore
And their hope grew with a hunger to live unlike before
4. The Hunter Gets Captured By The Game by The Marvelettes
I had to lay such a tender trap
Hoping you might fall into it
Love hit me like a sudden slap
One kiss and then I knew it
Oh, my plans didn't work out like I thought
‘Cause I had laid my trap for you but it seems like I got caught
What's this whole world comin' to
Things just ain't the same
Any time the hunter gets captured by the game
MY ultimate Feylin song.
5. The Boy with the Thorn in His Side by The Smiths
The boy with the thorn in his side
Behind the hatred, there lies
A murderous desire for love
How can they look into my eyes
And still they don't believe me?
How can they hear me say those words
Still they don't believe me?
6. I Hope That I Don’t Fall In Love With You by Tom Waits
‘Cause falling in love just makes me blue
7. Throughout The Dark Months of April and May by Cocteau Twins
The Bogge, the Púca, torn wings
8. Lhiannan Shee by Mediæval Bæbes
Lhiannan Shee, also spelled Leanan sídhe, is a type of Irish fairy that takes human lovers, often becoming a muse to them. The human chosen, however, often ends up dead or insane from the encounter. “Lhiannan Shee” means “fairy lover.”
9. Hymn To Herne by S. J. Tucker
Hunter who tracks outside of time
Guardian lord of ancient rhyme
Brother stag in the musky glen
And consort of the Goddess in her woodland den
We call you forth as we make our way
Walking in your power every day
Guide us true in our hunt this night
And maybe even later in the Great Rite!
He will call you out, make you sweat
Give you a blessing that you'll never forget
So revel in the chase and let your heartbeat run:
Blessed are the children of the Horned One!
Herne the Hunter is a spirit said to haunt the British countryside. He is known to bear antlers, and is often associated with other horned gods and gods of the hunt and the wild such as Cernunnos, Pan, the Green Man, etc. though these aren’t all the same figure necessarily. The Great Rite is a traditional Wiccan ceremony. Writer Starhawk on The Horned God:
“The Horned God is difficult to understand because he does not fit into any of the expected stereotypes, neither those of the ‘macho’ male nor the reverse-images of those who deliberately seek effeminacy. He is gentle, tender, and comforting, but he is also the Hunter. He is the Dying God—but his death is always in service of the life force. He is untamed sexuality—but sexuality as a deep, holy, connecting power. He is the power of feeling, and the image of what men could be if they were liberated from the constraints of patriarchal culture.”
10. The Mummers’ Dance by Lorena McKennitt
When in the springtime of the year
When the trees are crowned with leaves
When the ash and oak, and the birch and yew
Are dressed in ribbons fair
Mummers are masked and costumed performers often associated with springtime and fertility.
11. As The Bell Rings The Maypole Spins by Dead Can Dance
Maypoles were described as being raised for Midsummer in A Court of Thorns and Roses; in some cultures they are raised then, but they are also associated with May Day—known in Welsh as Calan Mai
12. Beltaine Fires by Gaia Consort
Beltaine is a similar celebration to Calan Mai. The fires occur on the night before, traditionally as protection for cattle, crops, and people. Rituals involved people leaping over the fires, and driving cattle between the bonfires.
13. Lilac Wine by Jeff Buckley
Lilac wine is sweet and heady, where's my love?
Lilac wine, I feel unsteady, where's my love?
Listen to me, why is everything so hazy?
Isn't that she, or am I just going crazy, dear?
Lilac wine, I feel unready for my love
Feel unready for my love
14. Joga by Björk
All that no-one sees
You see
What's inside of me
Every nerve that hurts
You heal
Deep inside of me
You don't have to speak
I feel
Emotional landscapes
The “Winter Woods” painting scene
15. Pepper-Tree by Cocteau Twins
A head in the garden; the curse ticks down
16. Jig Of Life by Kate Bush
"C'mon and let me live!"
Solstice/Rhysand terrorizing Feyre. This is my favorite song featuring the fiddle.
17. All Night Long by Peter Murphy
No bad vibe hearts
Tamlin and Feyre’s last night together. This song was inspired by Beauty and the Beast, and includes audio from Jean Cocteau’s 1946 film La Belle et La Bête.
18. Flight by Tanya Tagaq
The next song on the album this comes from, Animism, is “Fight.” And though Tamlin does fight to the last, as evidenced by Feyre when she returns to the Manor, I imagined this song as representing Tamlin as prey that has evaded his predator for over 500 years—but who finally gets caught.
19. Otterley by Cocteau Twins
Nothing is known of what happened to Tamlin under the mountain; still, this song describes the unreal and nightmarish atmosphere in the early days of his captivity.
20. 57821 (feat. Deep Cotton) by Janelle Monae and Deep Cotton
One by one
It's your time lead them both back to one
The sun has come (sun has come)
May your light lead them both back to one
(May your light lead them both back to one)
Indivisible sum
Here's the book now the saga's begun
He wonders if she is the one (she wonders if he is the one)
(You're the one) you're the one
“If it’s any consolation…she would have been the one for you…”
Feyre returns.
21. The Warden by Chelsea Wolfe
Hole, rack, wheel, time
Heart, thorn, knees, blight
Hand, hold, bright white
Whole head feels light
Tore off my limbs and my breasts
The heart it's heavy in the chest
Pulled out my tongue so I can't speak the truth
The picture in my vision it's the sun, it's you
This song is about two lovers who are separated and tortured so that they will betray one another—but who refuse to.
22. In Power We Entrust The Love Advocated - Remastered by Dead Can Dance
I am disabled by fears concerning which course to take
When memory bears witness to the innocents
Consumed in dying rage
The way lies through our love
The final trial.
23. Dreams Made Flesh - Remastered by This Mortal Coil
Feyre’s suffering under the mountain.
24. Persephone (The Gathering of Flowers) - Remastered by Dead Can Dance
Feyre’s death. The titles of this song and the last, of course, hint at what’s to come.
25. Into My Arms - 2011 Remastered Version by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
And I believe in Love
And I know that you do too
And I believe in some kind of path
That we can walk down, me and you
Feyre’s resurrection, and reunion with Tamlin.
26. All Flowers In Time Bend Towards The Sun by Ruby Weapon and Hannah Telle
All flowers in time bend towards the sun
I know you say that there's no one for you
But here is one

Rep. Mike Johnson, the new Speaker of the House, has been a vocal supporter of former President Donald Trump and was a key congressional figure in the failed efforts to overturn the 2020 election.
The Louisiana Republican was first elected to the House in 2016 and serves as Vice Chairman of the House Republican Conference, as well as GOP Deputy Whip, an assistant leadership role. An attorney with a focus on constitutional law, Johnson joined a group of House Republicans in voting to sustain the objection to electoral votes on January 6, 2021. During Trump’s first impeachment trial in January 2020, Johnson, along with a group of other GOP lawmakers, served a largely ceremonial role in Trump’s Senate impeachment team.
Johnson also sent an email from a personal email account in 2020 to every House Republican soliciting signatures for an amicus brief in the longshot Texas lawsuit seeking to invalidate electoral college votes from multiple states.
After the election was called in favor of Joe Biden on November 7, 2020, Johnson posted on X, then known as Twitter, “I have just called President Trump to say this: ‘Stay strong and keep fighting, sir! The nation is depending upon your resolve. We must exhaust every available legal remedy to restore Americans’ trust in the fairness of our election system.’”
Although Trump said he wouldn’t endorse anyone in the Speaker’s race Wednesday, he lent support to Johnson in a post on Truth Social.
“In 2024, we will have an even bigger, & more important, WIN! My strong SUGGESTION is to go with the leading candidate, Mike Johnson, & GET IT DONE, FAST!” Trump posted.
Johnson serves on the Judiciary Committee and the Armed Services Committee. He is also a former chair of the Republican Study Committee.
After receiving a degree in business administration from Louisiana State University and a Juris Doctorate from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center, Johnson took on roles as a college professor and conservative talk radio host. He began his political career in the Louisiana legislature, where he served from 2015 to 2017, before being elected to Congress in Louisiana’s Fourth District.
Rep. Kevin Hern, an Oklahoma Republican who chairs the influential Republican Study Committee, dropped out of the race for Speaker Tuesday evening and backed Johnson.
“I want everyone to know this race has gotten to the point where it’s gotten crazy. This is more about people right now than it should be,” he said. “This should be about America and America’s greatness. For that, I stepped aside and threw all my support behind Mike Johnson. I think he’d make a great Speaker.”
Johnson’s win in the secret-ballot race for the House Republican Conference’s nominee for speaker followed Minnesota Rep. Tom Emmer’s decision to drop out of the race hours after Republicans chose him to be the nominee following resistance from the right flank of the conference and a rebuke from Trump. Reps. Steve Scalise and Jim Jordan have also dropped out after earlier seeking the Speaker’s gavel.
Johnson joined the speakership race in a Saturday post on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“I have been humbled to have so many Members from across our Conference reach out to encourage me to seek the nomination for Speaker. Until yesterday, I had never contacted one person about this, and I have never before aspired to the office,” he said in a posted letter. “However, after much prayer and deliberation, I am stepping forward now.”

Prologue:
Summary; You and Freddie share a bond that goes back to your early years, having been best friends since you were just three years old. However, on Freddie's 18th birthday, a personal conversation arises that prompts you to take your friendship to a new level - one that transcends the boundaries of mere friendship.
Tags; young!Freddie x reader; friendship;

**
October, 2007
It was an ordinary Tuesday evening when you found yourself at the Andersen's residence for Freddie's 18th birthday family dinner. You were attending the event along with your father, which wasn’t really anything unusual, as you and Freddie had essentially grown up together. Long story short: your fathers had been childhood friends and even played on the same hockey team, the local Herning Blue Fox, back in the day.
However, your father's life took a turn when he turned 20, where he was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to pursue a hockey career overseas in Ontario, Canada, but though his career was on the rise, a severe knee injury abruptly ended it. He then decided to change direction, settling down with your mother, and a few years later, you and your twin brother, Tom, were born.
But then, just as things appeared perfect, tragedy struck again, when you were three, and your mother tragically lost her life in a car accident. And that's when your father decided to return to his hometown, and your now smaller family moved in just a few houses down from the Andersen family.
And Ernst and Charlotte Andersen were a godsend during that difficult time. Ernst helped your father secure a job at the local sports club, and Charlotte provided your family with love and support, often assisting with you and your brother when your father had to work late. To put it simply: their kindness was immeasurable.
This was probably why you and Freddie had become inseparable over the years. You spent nearly every day together, despite the three-year age gap, and your strong bond was hard to explain, but it might have been due to your growing love for hockey. You often found yourselves at the rink with your father and his friends, like Ernst, bonding over the sport. Meanwhile, Tom had a deeper passion for football, which led him to attend a sports boarding school on the other side of the country, leaving you alone with your father for the rest of the school year.
Nevertheless, you didn't mind at all. Freddie was your closest friend, and sitting next to him during the meal that night felt entirely natural. You treasured these moments, especially now as Freddie was transitioning into adulthood, and more than ready to embark on his own hockey career as a highly talented goaltender.
"Finished?” Freddie asked you with a mischievous grin on his fair, red-headed face, as the meal was drawing to a close. You nodded with a smile. His younger siblings, Sebastian and Amalie, had already retired to their rooms, and the youngest Andersen, Valdemar, was comfortably nestled in his mother's lap. "Feel like getting out of here?" he suggested, noticing that the adults were deep in some weighty conversation, and you and Freddie were eager to have a private chat of your own.
"Absolutely," you replied simply, offering your heartfelt thanks to Charlotte for the delightful meal and flashing her your warmest smile. Charlotte had always been a second mother to you, a role she'd assumed since you'd never had one of your own. She was the most nurturing person you'd ever met, treating you like a second daughter, if not one of her own, both before and after Amalie was born.
With the dishes in hand, you and Freddie shared laughter and jokes as you made your way to the kitchen and then to his room down the hallway. It was a room that had been a second home to you for most of your life, where you, Freddie, Tom, and Sebastian had spent countless days and weekends playing games and constructing forts when you weren't out in the garden training your hockey skills or engaged in a round of ball.
The room spoke volumes about Freddie's passion and identity. It was adorned with posters of hockey legends and idols, framed pictures of his father and mementos from his hockey career, game tickets from around the world that they'd attended as father and son, sometimes even with the whole family. Hockey jerseys, sticks, and all sorts of hockey memorabilia adorned the room, and it all brought a smile to your face as you settled onto his one-and-a-half-person bed. While you never played the sport yourself, you were an avid hockey enthusiast. You loved watching Freddie play and spent countless hours at the arena with his teammates and friends. You even volunteered to assist with younger teams and where there any ice-skating events coming up? You were there, as a dedicated fan through and through.
"So, any birthday wishes?" you asked Freddie, your smile warm as he settled into a lounge stool in front of you.
"No, not really," he chuckled. "Honestly, I only wish for success in my hockey career," he modestly admitted. Something that was very typically Freddie. He was never one to talk much or share his deep thoughts openly in a crowd. For some reason, he always remained humble, even though his talent as a goalie was evident to everyone. So, obviously success seemed inevitable, one way or another.
"Well, we all know that's going to happen," you playfully grinned. "Come on, there must be something?"
Freddie didn't respond immediately. Instead, there was a moment of quiet between you, as he wrestled with his thoughts; something was indeed on his mind, something personal and intimate, perhaps even embarrassing. And it was unusual for him to feel this way; he had never shied away from sharing his deepest thoughts or insecurities with you before, as your close relationship had formed a unique bond that neither of you shared with anyone else. But this time, he seemed hesitant to speak, and you respected his choice to share or not. You would never pressure him into revealing something he wasn't comfortable with, even though your curiosity was piqued.
"Well... there is something," Freddie began, fidgeting with his fingers and scratching the back of his neck. "Or not a thing, more like something I'd like to do," he admitted softly, glancing down with a hint of nervousness in his voice.
"Freddie, you can tell me," you reassured him, your tone gentle and caring, as you tried to catch his gaze, letting him know that he was in a safe space, just the two of you.
"It's a bit embarrassing," he then admitted, turning his gaze towards you and offering a soft, blushing smile.
You could sense that he really wanted to share his thoughts, and your curiosity was slowly growing with every second. "I'm your best friend, Freddie; nothing's too embarrassing," you reassured him, keeping your voice low and timid, earning him to let out a deep sigh, as he prepared himself to speak.
"Well, you see... the thing is..." he struggled to find the right words. "I've never... you know... I've never done 'it'," he almost blurted out, his freckled cheeks now tinged with crimson, as his gaze was fixed on the wooden floor of his room.
The air in the room was filled with silence as the meaning of his words sunk in.
"Oh," was all you managed to say at first, your mind processing his revelation. "Wait... what?" you then added, slightly bewildered by what Freddie had just shared. "You've never done it?" Your voice held genuine surprise.
"Shhh..." Freddie hushed you. "I don't need Seb to know as well."
"Sorry..." you replied softly, keeping your voice low and calm. "I'm just so surprised," you added, your eyes locked with Freddie's as his blush gradually subsided, and his fair skin returned to its normal hue.
"Why's that?" he asked, his expression showing a mix of slight offence and confusion.
But you simply mustered a sweet smile for him. "Well, have you met you?" you lightly chuckled. "Freddie, you're one of the most amazing guys I know. You're kind and wonderful," you said, looking earnestly at your best friend. "Besides, you have so many friends, both guys and girls, so I guess I just assumed that you've..." you trailed off, earning a small smile from him.
Your words warmed his heart, and he knew you well enough to understand that you meant every one of them.
"Well, I guess I've just never been with someone I wanted to do it with," he explained, the slight tension between you gradually softening, as did your body language.
"What about Maya?" you inquired, referring to the girl Freddie had dated from the ice figure skating team. It was a sort of 'tradition' among the hockey boys to pursue relationships with the girls in their age group, and Freddie had connected with Maya, a tall, fit, and slim beauty with big brown eyes and light brown hair. Quite the opposite of your appearance. You were shorter, your hair was light, and your skin held a few freckles during the summer. You had more curves—breasts, hips, and thighs. Not that you were unhappy with your appearance; it was just different from the other girls who were often around Freddie and his hockey friends.
"We never actually did it... I mean, we did 'stuff' - and it was nice, but we never went all the way," he explained, and you nodded in understanding.
“Why not?” you asked, your curiosity evident in your voice.
But Freddie simply shrugged. “Guess I just wasn’t ready… and I just didn’t feel comfortable doing it with her…” There was another moment of silence, as you once again offered him a simple nod, before he continued. “What about you?” he then inquired.
But no, you hadn’t done it either. You hadn’t had a boyfriend or even something close to a boyfriend. Though, you did have many friends, also boys, but none of them had ever shown an interest in you like that. Perhaps only some of Freddie’s friends once or twice - but it had mostly been as a joke. Freddie would never let any of them get near you like that. That was simply off limits.
So you shook your head gently. “No,” your voice was low and soft.
“Fair” Freddie simply said, offering you a friendly smile. “I mean, you shouldn’t do it if you aren’t ready, right, or just because everyone else is doing it.”
And of course you knew that. In fact you’d never felt forced to wander down that road, even though your closest girlfriends had already started to explore those parts of themselves with their first loves. But with that said, you had indeed started to explore yourself alone, with inspiration from what they’d shared in your close girl group. You’d started in the slow, with a soft touch on your breasts, gently massaging them, and lightly pinching a nipple a few times. Then you’d moved your fingertips slowly down your torso, and with a finger or two, you’d very gently started to rub what you’ve come to know as the clitoris. A little pea, filled with nerves, that had made you feel so good, despite a little tinge at first. But with a little patience and practice, you’d also come to learn how you enjoyed the soft circular movements, which made soft moans escape your lips, and eventually you’d moved further down to your entrance, where you’d started out with a finger to push in. And that was how you slowly started to learn how to gently please yourself. But just the mere thought of having someone else do it to you, was some what new to you. And it was indeed intriguing.
“I know… but the thing is…” you almost whispered, your mind puzzled whether to share your thoughts or not. “I think, I’m actually ready…” you admitted, once again locking eyes with Freddie, earning a little ‘oh’ from him.
“Really?” he asked, sounding a little more surprised than intended. And you nodded in response.
“Yeah.. I don’t know why… I guess I’m just really curious about it,” you kept your voice low and steady, as your eyes sought for Freddie’s reaction. You hoped he wouldn't judge your sudden revelation, and he didn't. His expression remained gentle and composed, though he did seem slightly torn between continuing the conversation, or ending it before it led to suggestions that could potentially impact your friendship. Ultimately, he decided to forge ahead.
“So…” he tried to formulate his next sentence. “You’ve got anyone in mind?”
You shook your head. No, you hadn't thought of anyone in particular for this. It had simply been an intriguing idea that had crossed your mind recently.
Freddie felt a slight wave of relief wash over him. He had an idea but wasn't sure if it was too bold for both of you to share such an intimate experience.
“What if…” he gently spoke, breaking the silence hanging between the two of you. “What if you and I, you know, did it?” He was genuinely surprised by his own audacity as his mind suggested the idea, and his mouth followed suit.
You were a bit taken aback, although the idea wasn't entirely foreign to you. It might even have crossed your mind once or twice, but you never imagined that Freddie would think of you in that way. Nevertheless, his suggestion brought a smile to your face.
With a subtle nod, you delicately nibbled on your lower lip before speaking. "It wouldn't be awkward, would it?" you hesitantly inquired, eliciting a faint gasp from Freddie.
Then he released a soft sigh. "How about we simply call it one friend assisting another?" he playfully proposed, prompting a small chuckle from you as you nodded in agreement.
"Agreed."

Chess - https://www.chess.com/article/view/history-of-chess
Harry Potter and wizarding chess, Star Wars Dejarik and the indian chaturanga. - discuss how individual makers can bring a new set of characters to life in an old format. Chess rules and history make it an easy sell. - if making your own game you have to market it and find a game publisher to flog it. Discuss.
Dungeons and Dragons: The ‘moral panic’ caused by D and D during the 1980s and showcased in Stranger Things and Eddie Munson’s Hellfire Club and the Tom Hanks film from 1982 called Mazes and Monsters directed by Steven Hilliard Hern

Locke and Key comics and TV, keys and Lovecraft - how does the Board game work? https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/110868/locke-key-game - is this an easy sell? Who would buy it? Locke and Key followers of the comic book or the TV series - gimmick.
Research the Guess Who game.
Gender Inequality & Ethnic Bias
Guess Who? has had its fair share of criticism since its launch in 1980. Soon after, parents and children alike began wondering why most of the characters in the game were boys. A more worrying fact was that there were almost no characters that were representative of ethnic minorities.
What are your views on this?
Has this now been changed? - should a maker be more than just aware of political correctness and when might it have a huge impact on an idea. Look in to Roald Dahl and Quentin Blake -
