How long do you think it took Ace to get used to spider Luffy?

For ace it'll take a couple of months (2 to 3 months max) since he grew up in the jungle his primary instincts are to either fight it to death or run away and since he refuses to run nor can he fight he just keeps his distance.

Sabo would be the complete opposite with his new found obsession with spiders, reading all sorts of books and using Luffy as a real life reference. Surprisingly , he likes to sketch and draw (and he's pretty good at it) so you'd find his sketchbook that he definitely stole to be filled with Luffy sketches along with a concerning amount of notes regarding Luffy's daily life.

you might not know the answer to this but by chance do you know which gobusters subs are on archive? i have been watching that version but i dont know of it is overtime

not sure since archive has a lot of fansubs floating around, but generally, if the team name is translated as "special ops cell go-busters", that's over-time (or maybe ~technically~ free joker, but they just took OT's subs and put them on blu-ray), and if it's left untranslated as "tokumei sentai go-busters" and the font changes for finishers and toy announcements, that's probably tv-nihon. nobody else subbed go-busters in its entirety besides those two

Hi! I've been interested in tokusatsu shows for a while now, but I don't know which to start with, or how to watch them.

GRINS SO WIDE summarized quick answer: where to start: my go-to answer is kamen rider ryuki, it's my absolute favorite and you can find it for free on tubi :-) tubi is a streaming service only available in the us, so if you don't live there you'd have to use a vpn to use it (that's what i do!) how to watch: tubi has a few other titles from kamen rider, sentai and ultraman, so feel free to look around if any others interest you! tsuburaya also has an official youtube channel with a bunch of content, icnluding the currently airing season with subs in multiple languages and an english dub! there's a lot of shows with no official international releases, for which you'd have to use.. other means

if interested, there's a longer (very long... sorry), more detailed answer under the cut!

as for where to start, it's completely up to you! :-) look around and if a show catches your interest, go for it! in kamen rider and super sentai at least, the shows are self-contained and separate from each other so you can jump in with any show you want at all!

some reccs of mine for the big three are as follow:

kamen rider: my personal favorite so far of the big three :-) the seasons can vary a lot in tone and setting, pretty much the only consistent thing is that there's a guy with a bike. oftentimes the guy looks like a bug. sometimes there's even more than one (!!) guy with a bike

for kamen rider, i recommend:

kamen rider ryuki: my absolute favorite tokusatsu show, and one of my favorite shows period!!! it's the 2002 installment of kamen rider. in this series, a silly journalist guy happens to discover a mysterious card deck while investigating for a story. with this, he accidentally becomes involved in a conflict between kamen riders. as the series advances, the reasons for this conflict become more clear out of the shows i've watched, this is one of the heavier ones in tone. however, it's also really funny. the show jumps from grim conflict to looney toones sitcom situations and then back again and its so awesome this was actually the show i began with, and it kickstarted my interest in tokusatsu!! i don't want to say much so as to not give anything away, but there's compelling, unforgettable characters that are so so dear to me, a pulling story with unfolding mysteries, and beautiful suit design!

some other shows i can mention are kamen rider fourze (show from 2011, generally much lighter in tone, very funny and sweet, space-themed kamen rider show about a delinquent-esque highschooler who wants to become friends with everyone) and kamen rider w (i think this one is commonly recommended to beginners! it's very fun, it's about a pair of young detectives who investigate mysteries and fight monsters. the main trio from this show are so dear to me). there's also a bunch of other shows i loved like ooo and kuuga (my second favorite!) but if i started listing them all out we'd be here all day...! if you wanted to start from the currently airing season, gotchard is on episode 16 right now. it's been cute so far!

super sentai: this is the series power ranger adaptations are made out of! there's a team of color-color coded heroes fighting villains and they have a giant robot etc etc

for super sentai, i started with kikai sentai zenkaiger! very cute and silly show, made me laugh out loud multiple times :-) a guy and his robot buddies hang out and have sooooo much fun

another recommendation would be tokumei sentai gobusters! probably one of the most solid tokus i've watched. it's a techy-themed season which is a plus for me :-) i heart computers. this one has a smaller core team than the usual sentai show, composed of three members. the characters are great and the antagonists are unforgettable!

i also loved toqger and i've had a lot of fun with gokaiger so far :-)

ultraman: ... i know far less about this one SORRY. there's a giant alien guy who fights giant monsters. lots of creatures in this one. peace and love on earth and also the entire universe...!!! like i said, i'm less knowledgeable about this one but from what i've seen the special effects tend to be breathtaking! miniature sets the world...

so far, the only ultraman show i've watched is ultraman orb, it was very nice! with around 20 episodes, it's shorter than the other shows i've recommended, which average 50 episodes

the currently airing ultraman show is ultraman blazar, which... i've unfortunately fallen back on a little! i have no idea if it's still airing or if it finished HELP. anyway i've loved it so far! there's a nice, slow-pace feel to it, gorgeous effects, and very memorable episodes! it's available worldwide on youtube for free, with an english dub and subtitles in multiple languages!! getting to watch it live is suchhh a nice experience there's also plenty of shows outside of those three franchises, but i'm not knowledgeable about them and i don't have reccs for those! i definitely want to venture out at some point.. i hope this helped! again, these are just some general reccs of shows i've liked! look around and see if any show catches your interest :-) if you have a certain tone, setting, etc etc in mind and want more specific recommendations i can also help with that!! thank you for letting me ramble about toku for a while ^__^

Appearance: Kukki mostly wears muted colors and is drawn towards pallets consisting of greys and blacks, but once in a while she's not one to say no to a pop of color. Her silver dyed hair reaches her shoulders and most of the time she'll wear it untied, other possible hairstyles being ponytails and messy buns. For make-up, she won't go heavy on it, in favor of a more natural look.

Backstory: Kukki has been a lonely child for most of her youth, being picked on by other children for being a goody-two-shoes and an overall studious student, things only evolving for the worst as she began becoming a target for bullying too. This resulted in her having rather mediocre social skills and high insecurities, which prevented her from forming many connections with other people (if she will approach you, that means she has interest in you, but once she gets attached to you, you can bet she'll be a loyal friend or partner until death (or until you betray her)). As an adult, she chose to pursue psychology in the hopes that she will become a counselor in order to help out those who've been through similar experiences as her and put an end to bullying and harassment.

i hope it's okay to piggy back on it because while I'm no specialist at all, I was really glib when I answered you earlier lol and I feel like if people are interested there may be a little bit more to the Kamen Rider series than that.

Kamen Rider (literally Masked Rider) is a series of shows produced by Toei, that fall under the umbrella term "tokusatsu shows" (at least in english speaking fandoms).

We've had one a year since 2000 (plus 9 that came between 1971 and 1989). The concept is that you have a main hero - with a motorbike and a pretty cool armor (usually activated using some kind of belt) - dedicated to fighting a big organization of villains that involve tons of really cool looking monsters. yes they do look very fake and yes they also look really cool, both can be true As the story progresses, they often get themselves (sometimes reluctant) allies, recurring villains, and they may meet previous incarnations of KR for cameo crossovers. People who watched far more than I have might have a better outlook on where to start, but as I said quite a few of them are easy enough to get into without much knowledge! And there is a huge variety of settings and themes across the board, from space themed (Fourze), to detective/noir (W), or 'vampire' themed (Kiva) shows so I think there is a way to find something to suit your tastes.

A note for lovers of color coded teams (me, that's me, hi): the Power Rangers as we know them in Europe and the US are remakes of the Japanese Super Sentai that use the original fighting scenes/themes/props with reworked stories and completely new out-of-costume scenes. Same as Kamen Rider, Toei produces one a year, with a new team and theme every time, and those also have given us a few of our current BL actors.

That part basically set everything in stone in my au! A lot of things will change, and all the attention on Ace will go to Luffy.

Luffy will not outright say he’s the son of the king of the pirates, but rather heavily imply it throughout his journey!

When the strawhats are equipped in the crew, they too don’t know if the statement is factual or not as Luffy will make find a way to avoid answering directly.

Ace and Sabo don’t know about Luffy’s plan, they just think he’s showing off his skills every time his bounty inches a bit higher (giving Ace and Sabo motivation to be more ambitious and motivated with their own goals)

I feel like your Luffy and Izo would get along well.

Luffy (traveller) suddenly arrives one day at the moby dick in a considerably small ship with a pirate flag that has the usual strawhat on a skull except the bones are drawn so it takes the shape of the letter "L"

Nobody recognizes the flag nor do they know who it belongs to. That is until a young man wearing a straw hat shows up asking to come on board. Whitebeard being the curious man he is, especially with seemingly "cheeky brats", just let's him on.

Luffy reveals himself and the whitebeards are shocked since he looks and acts nothing like how ace described him. Whitebeard tries to get him to join but it doesn't work on him (obviously).

Ace on the other hand is just confused, his little brother is acting different from when he left them and it kinda hurts in a sense. Ace feels like he missed out on Luffy's development so he wanted to catch up with him but before he could even say his name, Luffy was snatched right before his eyes by none other than Izo who immediately pulled him into a corner and both just went straight into business in the form of a heated conversation about opinions regarding certain aesthetics and such.

On the outside it just looked like two devils plotting world domination. Suddenly, their heads turn around so fast to face with ace. At that very moment he felt every sin he's ever committed crawl up his back.

Surprisingly it wasn't as bad as he thought as it turns out , Luffy has a surprisingly great taste. Ace never felt so beautiful in his life, so beautiful he could rival THE Boa Hancock any day.

For some reason I feel like Izo would be so open to all types of clothing that he'd find even the most ridiculous looking dress to be a "masterpiece" and that's why everyone is afraid of him. Only sometimes though.

Hi! I wasn’t really planning on putting Fortune in one of the regular houses. I’d put her in the Ramshackle dorm like what’s done to the MC in canon since she has no magic. Plus, she’s a girl in a school full of boys so Crowley would prefer her staying there over the other dorms. Of course, some renovations would need to be done, considering how bad off the Ramshackle dorm is lol

If you’re curious about what dorm she would be sorted into if she had magic, according to the personality quiz I just took, it said Octavinelle which I could see since she’s a very smart girl. I think Scarabia could be another option for that same reason.

Her fashion style wouldn’t be any different from TABF canon, meaning she has no sense of fashion lol She just wears whatever is comfortable. Comfort always comes before appearance which would drive the fashion savvy students crazy lol

What I like about them

How his brutally honest character is treated. It has its merits, since Hiromu won’t bear around the bush, but at the same time it causes friction between him and Yoko in the initial days of their team-up and gives poor Nick a headache. It takes time for him to, I suppose, learn how to accommodate to others more and it’s a gradual process as opposed to him changing within just one episode

Usually Hiromu’s sort of character doesn’t care for anything but will gain a mortality pet along the way. Instead, his desire to bring his parents is what drives him to be a Go-Buster, along with the recognition of his duty + having promised Yoko, who had no one once her mother was taken. The reason why we don’t really see him get emotional is because he was absolutely certain that his parents and the others could be brought back, but in true Kobayashi fashion it gets obvious that’s impossible, and thus his confidence in upholding that promise chips. Yet he doesn’t let that get him down for too long, and ultimately he is part of the legacy of Sentai characters who protect the planet from evil

This is a general factor about the Go-Busters but he trained for thirteen years and didn’t just trust on the superpower his vaccine program granted him to do the work. That takes committment, hard work and everything in between.

What I dislike about them

Not necessarily Hiromu himself, since no matter how silly his chicken phobia seems, it makes him more “human”. But then I just wish crossovers didn’t dedicate themselves to Hiromu freezing at the word “chicken” (niwatori) or “bird” (tori) - sure, it’s comical, but there’s more to Hiromu than that? Plus episode 3 in the core series shows that he may freeze at the word “chicken”, but he will do his best to keep moving

Favourite moment

EPISODE 1. When he has Nick in motorbike mode sail through the air and then Hiromu summoned his weapon to shoot out the eye of the crane Metaroid. That moment is so awesome, four years down the road I still uphold it as one of my favourite Sentai Red debuts

Least favourite moment

The episode when he was ready to die so that Enter’s Messiah card (aka Sentai Horcruxes) would be destroyed with him T^T

A situation with this character that I want to see explored more

What Hiromu is doing once the Vaglass threat is over. Spin-offs indicate he still does his Go-Buster job proudly but I’d like to think Hiromu has a career outside of that.

I’m not really one for AUs in tokusatsu (unless they’re canon divergences) but…hm…perhaps an AU where the vaccine programs make the Go-Busters turn into cyborgs? They protect humanity at the cost of their own, they might even wonder if they chose to do this in the first place, vice versa?

Dobutsu Sentai Go-Busters is a crack and parody of typical Sentai as a “take that” to those who criticized Go-Busters’ more realistic concepts, but it confirms that Hiromu/Yoko will exist across the alternate realities so there, alternate!Hiromu/alternate!Yoko!

An assortment of headcanons! 

I was fourteen + only ate what I got when it came to fandoms so I don’t have many but:

As Hiromu gets older, he gets tired of his chicken phobia acting up because it’s not like he can wear a sign saying “chicken phobia, will cause freezing” on him + it hinders fights as time goes on. He actually starts working on getting over the phobia for a year and by the end of it, his freezing will activate for a different reason. I’m not sure what but it should be something non-chicken

Hiromu will be lost for a while as to what his non-Go-Buster career will be. Then he follows his father’s footsteps in being a researcher who develops programs that counter viruses like Messiah without needing to train another generation and strip them of normal lives

He will get married to Yoko lol

He will get a better hairstyle bc I love him but that hair…man…
