Every once in a while, my mind goes back to the Little Mermaid arc. Specifically back to that one panel we all collectively love.

It's a great example of both Hanako's possessiveness and indirectness. Hanako acknowledges the mermaid world would be kind to Nene, especially compared to their current world which is cruel (because it has destined for Nene to die). And yet, to Hanako it doesn't matter.

It doesn't matter. Hanako doesn't care about any of that.

The only thing that matters is that he likes Nene. He wants her to stay with him, in this world, because he likes her.

But you would have to choke those words out of him-- and even then good luck getting him to admit it-- because Hanako has never been the most direct person, has he?

Can't admit he thinks Nene is pretty.

Says he wishes time would stop, but really he doesn't want this moment with Nene to end, because he doesn't want to say goodbye.

Constantly talks like he's just doing his job as a boss to protect his "assistant," but it's nothing more than a convenient excuse. It's not that he feels responsible for her, it's that he cares and worries about her, but refuses to put into words and therefore disguises it.

Nene manages to figure this one out on her own, but yes, Hanako wanted to save her by his own hand and no one else's. If he couldn't save her, then perhaps in another timeline Hanako wouldn't have let anybody else do it either. It's him or no one.

Hanako isn't direct, you have to often read in-between the lines to figure out what he really means. And frankly, from the way Hanako tightly clutches Nene to him in the Little Mermaid arc, I think it's very clear this isn't about her wants or feelings.

Also I want to add that Hanako had absolutely no idea that Nene initially decided to stay with him, but that hadn't even entered his equation when he fished her out. And immediately after, starts talking about her as though she was his belonging.

He never directly says any of this, because that's not who Hanako is, but throughout his entire interaction with Nene and the fish in this chapter, Hanako was basically saying:

"I don't care if your world would be kind to her. I like Yashiro, she belongs to me, and you cannot have her."

Made an extra long weekend out of Labor Day to try to get my shit together and re-set before work busy season and I am proud to say I have already done all of the dusting and vacuuming - including the stuff I sometimes skip like vacuuming under the couch cushions, dusting behind shit on my bookshelves, and dusting the ceiling fans, have cleaner sitting in the oven waiting for it to be wiped out, and cleaned the back splash in the kitchen.

Yesterday I deep cleaned the bathroom (I was in there for like 2.5 hours…that kind of deep clean) and washed all my bedding. After brunch the plan is to mop, finish cleaning the oven and stove top, clean kitchen counters and fridge shelves, and then do a closet clean out (yes the closet clean out is the reward, I’ve actually been kind of looking forward to it, lmao)

Sometimes I tell my current housemate and life partner the crazy shit my ex housemate put me through and he would be legitimately shocked.

Like the fact she would just toss empty toilet rolls out the bathroom window and not the actual bin and we only discovered it because there was a giant cardboard mound on the side of the house.

like i think megatron made dreadwing tell him but megatron hasnt experienced an emotion beyond rage in millennia so he's standing there wanting to slink away into a corner but he cant lol. also probably thinks its a little cringefail to have a full on breakdown (haha) about it on the brig like jeeze.

dreadwing obviously feels terrible and can relate bc. his brother. but also 'hey uh yeah i got ambushed and your husband got away from me and got killed' is not really an acceptable excuse so he just feels bad about it and also turned right towards Revenge instead of sadness so

soundwave is implied to have lost most of the cassettes minus laserbeak by then but yknow. its soundwave. at most he kind of directs nemesis traffic away from knock out but he's not gonna SAY anything

a bunch of vehicons prob do their best its just them and knock out feeling sorry for themselves i suppose

The placement is temporary (probably) but I finally decided to put up my Hanako-kun and Haruaki poster celebrating their 100th chapters!

It’s just so cute! I really love them both (tho Haruaki is ranked higher in my heart, especially when comparing their actions in the last few arcs :/)

maintenance guy just showed up at my door unannounced to check out something i reported yesterday...on the one hand loving this prompt service. on the other hand, give a broad some warning. i am in my pajamas and the place is a sty. but he might actually fix a thing that's been bugging me for over a decade, so that would be nice. not that that was urgent, obviously. so i would have appreciated a heads-up.
