Three ships: Will keep it in the Elisabeth fandom, since that is what my current fanfic and fandom focus is. Todolf (legit question: who in the Elisabeth fandom doesn't love reading Todolf fics?), SisiTod (a classic) and Smrtolf (Czech production Todolf my beloveds, but I'm counting it as different from Todolf, because Smrt just has vibes and characterization different enough from Tod for me to not really see them as the same character)

First ship: Eristine from PotO (oh, the good ol' tween days when I used to read and write PotO fanfiction on Wattpad)

- ALFRED IS THE MAIN CHARACTER come on you guys,,, you can like and be interested in other characters but it's a problem when the show itself doesn't remember how it was written. The very structure of the show (music, dialogue, plot, scenes) rebels against trying to change this and productions that push him aside just end up jumbled and messy. It's literally a main reason Kunze hated Broadway Tanz

- tied to this, so many people view carpe noctem as this "haha weird random nightmare dance number, guess it was added to pad the runtime" like no... that is literally a way for the show to metaphorically recap and further develop the central themes of the show to the audience at the beginning of act 2... open your eyes...

- I'll take Kunze's "tdv is a musical symbolizing the fall of the berlin wall" (true take of his) over "a longterm relationship with krolock is the ultimate way for sarah to liberate herself" any day. 😭

1992 is like. the end is so near you can taste it, the darkness surrounds you completely, you cling to hope and try to find it in yourself to remember how it felt to find it but you can't. you stare into the abyss and suddenly the abyss stares back and it hurts to see that but it would hurt more to look away and find nothing else to save you. you feel too weak to fight it but beneath you skin, deep down in your heart, you want it so badly. it's cold, it's sharp, it's painful, but it's all you have. it can't feel the way you do, but it beckons you, lets you near when you creep closer, and there's some level of mutual understanding, some level of recognition that you both know that neither of you wants to pull away, that you need it too much and that it wants to draw you in.

it's a herald and a warning that things will not get better and things will in fact get worse - it stays your hand and holds you back, prevents you from acting in some ways, and steers you and urges you forward in others. it's a push-pull where you know what you have to do but every path is a dead end that makes things worse. and because of that you don't want to make the decision because any decision you make will doom you, but you know that not making a decision will also doom you anyway...

I like to play on a dress up doll site sometimes and they recently updated their rules - it's now 16+ and some discussions of sex are allowed, but they ended up putting a huge list of caveats to control and regulate that. and like. well

This is perhaps way too mean ahdhfh and I think differences in opinion are productive in fandom spaces, but... one old post I screenshotted argued that people who criticise romantic kr*lock x sarah may not in fact be doing it out of seriously analysing canon, and are instead "smashing 'frivolous fangirls' dreams' - because god forbid we ruin the Serious Vampire Musical with something as fluffy as EPIC GOTHIC ROMANCE". XD And then the post pointed out that vampires are a metaphor for escaping societal pressures, especially for young women and lgbtq+ people, so it's actually a deep and good theme in and of itself.

Idk it's sooo ironic how that post posits that specific relationship as women's liberation (and also points out lgbtq people's struggles in society, as a sidenote...) when there are in fact women out there who don't think romance with men liberates them - and in fact, for whom anything of the sort would be a prison and a nightmare (... that society still tries to push on them at every turn). Like I get how some people would like it but your experiences are not universal and it's ironic that they didn't think about what the L in LGBTQ+ means when making the post and even mentioning it ahdhfh

Anyway yeah, I criticise the (over)romanticisation of Krolock and the de-romanticisation and farcification of Alfred because I hate fun and women's rights, hope that helps (hsdhfjfgfkjgk)

Canon-compliant/canon-universe (ie. not AU) Alfred x Sarah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Canon-era, post-canon, vampirified, not vampirified... straight people rights (ahsdhjfjskdfghjld). Oh but I do think I would accept an AU that would make it lesbian alfred x sarah because girl Alfred is so exciting to me (but it would have to be good, I hate when people genderbend and change everything in an illogical way lmao). Both fic and art for this >:]

22. your favorite part of canon that everyone else ignores

alfred x sarah (XDDD). Máté Kamarás nightmare solo 1 deep lore (jsjajfj mostly a joke). The depths of the Alfred corruption arc thing and the differences in his and Sarah's worldviews/anxieties (as represented metaphorically by how they approach vampirism). I mean there are people who don't ignore these things but there is too much h*rbert x alfred content in proportion (HAHSDHFJFJ sorry, everyone should write what they want, it's just that that time could've been more productively spent writing todolf fanfiction /hj) and it's craaazyyy how marginal alfred x sarah is in fandom and in fan content (14 fics on ao3 if excluding h*rbfred and krolock alfred sarah polyamory) vs. how much people (at least in the past, now it's mostly ignored or talked of positively I think) fight/fought against it and put it down as a ship.

2. a compelling argument for why your fave would never top or bottom

This is difficult because in my fanfic allllll the characters switch xD It's because to me it's (by "it" I mean todolf elisabethdasmusical) all about the BDSM, where it doesn't really matter what the configuration is - you can still dom someone as a bottom. I get bored writing or thinking about relationships where it's only ever one way around lmaoo.

In terms of the bdsm configuration, though, I don't see canon-compliant Rudolf domming Tod. It's not how depression works, everyone knows depression puts YOU at its mercy ahfhfjfj. That is to say, though, that I find fanfic depictions of Rudolf as a sad limp noodle too timid to ever "fight back" oversimplified. Even Andy Bieber's Rudolf, the limpest noodle of them all (affectionate) canonically isn't a wimp who needs to be treated like a child. And considering history, that really isn't the case. And for me personally it's a turn off in all fanfics if the power dynamic is too reductive/one-sided... it's only a fucked up relationship if both people contribute to the fucked-up-ness somehow, OR if it's a clear situation where one character is the "victim", their suffering should fuck them up and have them react to things in fucked up ways (it doesn't mean they're at fault suddenly but it's more realistic)

Ahshdfhgj this is spicy... In terms of fanfic it's probably too many OCs (sorry I don't have time to learn all this stuff but you do you ahdhhf), arbitrary changes to the canon just because (without exploring how those changes would work, or going way too far and it becoming just an original story with the names plastered on, that's boring), and most iterations of romantic mutually consensual and enthusiastic Elisat*d. I mean, that last one is hardly a crime considering that I (fitzrove) have written and enjoyed todolf marriage fanfiction, but I personally dislike it xD
