Alt Modes

Despite what many species believe, a Cybertronian's Alt mode doesn't have that much weight in their place in society. Oh plays a part, but not as much as one might think.

This is mostly due to how Cybertronians get their Alt modes. The moment they receive their Name, their fully ignited Sparks cause a Cybertronian's T-Cog to spin giving them their first Alt Mode. The bot in question has little to no say as to what he or shee will turn into. And given how sacred transformation is, it's rare for anybot to change their altmodes once they get one.

So you have bots like Perceptor, a civilian scientist that just so happens to have a two shoulder mounted double barrel fusion cannons

Toaster, who turned into a small roving drone that was a gladiator.

SixShot, a Six changer Warframe (armed with NUCLEAR FIRE BOMBS) that's a freaking office worker.

Powerglide, who turns into what most species would recognize as a civilian plane, is also a Frontline general whose tanked hits he really shouldn't be tanking

So- Writing Down to Earth has given me quite the amount of freedom. I have planned cameos from certain Aligned and not-Aligned characters, but it has also put the most insane ship in my head.

I wasn't originally gonna talk about it because technically it's spoilers for the inclusion of two characters, but these two are not going to be reoccurring and I mean it this time!

Have I seen either of them in their root modes? No. Because they have never appeared in their root modes. Not a once.

I wasn't even gonna ship them. But the first scene I wrote for the Blaster plotline had them interacting, and then later when Toaster and Blaster were talking, Blaster just had to say something and now here I am!

These two aren't even in the same continuity at any point!!

Blaster's Going Through It In HyperSpark

Let's see here Blaster, in no particular order:

Lost his brother in an easily avoidable accident thanks to a commander that everyone worships.

Has drifted apart from his Mini Con family

Is stuck doing missions far outside his area of expertise.

Forced to hide his marriage with one his Mini-cons to prevent a scandal.

Dealing with internal injuries that need equipment that's exclusive to Cybertron.

Greatly reduced combat effectiveness and personality issues because of said injuries.

Is forced to follow the commands of a man child playing superhero on a nowhere planet.

Is being forced to filter an ENTIRE COMMUNICATION. NETWORK. A job that's hard when he has all of his family and they get along, let alone having only two, one of which hates him now.

Is dealing with the side effects of not being in close quarters of his Mini-cons for long periods. (If he doesn't get the rest of them, his Spark might tear itself apart)

Oh. And most importantly:

All BUT TWO OF HIS MINI-CONS ARE MISSING ON A SHIP FILLED TO THE BRIM WITH POSSESSED EARTH TECH

toaster is literally just a guy who turns into a toaster. he prolly doesn't deserve to be on the bottom tbh but i think he is SO FUNNY that i put him there anyways.

second... chromedome's secret. now, that's a little harder to explain because no one actually.... knows what it is? see, originally there was going to be a plot in MTMTE where chromedome did... something.

prowl, when trying to convince him to work on the overlord case, says this:

and chromedome literally fucking tackles him, pins him down, and erases his memory. that's how badly he wants to keep this "something" secret.

but unfortunately, this plotline got cut, and is literally NEVER MENTIONED EVER AGAIN. so no one knows what he did!! not even prowl anymore :)
