STARDEW VALLEY INKTOBER 2024

Good lord, is it that time of year again? :D Since 2021, Grapefruit Sky SDV server has been creating an Inktober list. Beginnng with the wonderful @buttonso's list back in 2021 and designed by @hannahstumble the event has become a regular in our calendar. This year, we've teamed up with Stardew Valley Fanfic Writers for our prompts along with a couple of other servers.

The great thing about this carefully curated (by me!) list is that it is absolutely 1.6 friendly, but also, SPOILER FREE BABY! So if you haven't played 1.6 yet, this list is perfectly safe to use! :) Please feel free to share far and wide, there is also a dedicated Collection page on AO3 if you want to add your fic there :) AO3 Collection (be patient with me, I've never done this before, but if you need help signing up let me know here :) ) Don't forget, Inktober is not just for writers, it's for everyone! Alonso Family Tree (for the people who like the family tree thing💕)

I put Fernando as a Michael/Rubens spawn cause idk it just felt right plus their interactions back then were so freaking cute especially Rubens and Nandos.

Natural:

Everybody knows Carlos is basically Nandos son at this point so its self explanatory.

Pepe, Gabriel, and Chloe are his FA management kids so technically he’s their father.

Nikola is also a management kid but he looks alot like Lance so I made him a Strollonso lovechild. He also has the personality of both of them combined.

Stoffel was the first Buttonso child during the McHonda era. While they were going through hell he was their little sunshine child. Then came Lando, Fernando took over the parenting while Jenson was away and then Jenson took over the parenting while Nando was away. Now they are both present and love him dearly.

Oscar is a Webbonso child because it’s literally a fact and real and canon. Argue with a wall.

Adopted:

Max has always been Nando’s little star pupil ever since he joined F1. The only reason he followed F1 on his sabbatical was just to watch Max race. The only person Max felt inspired by when he was younger was Fernando. So yeah Nando adopted Max.

Yuki and Guanyu looked up to Nando and called him their hero, their idol. Fernando took both of them in and they’re both his little buddies.

Jenson and Nando adopted George together because George is their personalities combined mixed with a little more cringe. Tell me im wrong im not. Plus it’s just funny.

You have managed to come up with a fic where you get to play around with as many F1 duos as your heart desires. Which is your favorite? Is it also your favorite to write about?

Anon you've got me there because how am I supposed to choose? As Icarus now stands it has covered platonic Maxiel, Charlos, Brocedes, Slagclaren, Princess Cake, Dando, Carlando, Galex, Yukiel, Sebdan, Martian, Sewis, Valewis, Webbonso, and Buttonso, and that's not to mention dozens of other references to other driver duos.

I think my favourite to write is somewhere in between the top five there but in the end what makes F1 so fun to write about is this:

That is your teammate. That is supposed to be the first guy you beat; your closest enemy. But your closest enemy eats with you; you laugh with them and spend more time with them than your own family. You are one of twenty drivers who can drive the fastest cars in the world. Nobody understands what it is like to drive a current season Formula One car except those nineteen others. But the only one who understands what it is like to drive your car is your teammate. The only one who can understand you is your teammate. But they are supposed to be your enemy. In Icarus Maxiel says I would rather not be your teammate than to hate you. Charlos says I would rather be your teammate even when everyone else says I should hate you. Princess Cake says we might not have been teammates but we understand what it is to have been hurt and loved by Lewis Hamilton. Slagclaren says we were teammates, but I (Jenson) knew I could never be what he was to you. Brocedes is I missed you more than I hated you, and I realised this too late.

So how, Anon, am I supposed to choose?

Fandom: Formula 1 RPF

Reasons: Because why not? They have the chemistry, they have the potential, they have their own thing going on every now and then- give me a good reason to not ship these dorks.

6. Napoleon Solo x Illya Kuryakin [ Ship Name: Napollya / Illeon]

Fandom: The Man From U.N.C.L.E. [movie 2015]

Reason: Pure Grumpy x Sunshine trope. Illya is shot tempered and keeps himself isolated most of the time, but Napoleon knows how to get under his skin (👀) and adores his Red Peril to death. I mean, he literally jumped in those deep waters to save his life- what more prrpf do you need?

5. Charles Leclerc x Max Verstappen [ Ship Name: Lestappen/Verleclerc ]

Fandom: Formula 1 RPF

Reason: Seriously? You need a reason? Aren't those subtle touches on Charles' lower back after the podiums, or even when they're close to each other, not enough? Isn't that habit of Max not being able to stand in one place after seeing his favorite Ferrari boy enough? Isn't their inability to not mention each other once in every interview ever enough? They're the definition of "Love is blind"

4. Mika Häkkinen x Michael Schumacher [Ship Name: Makkinen/ Mikael]

Fandom: Formula 1 RPF

Reasons: The classic Finn x German trope. They say they're not friends yet can't seem to leave each other alone. They basically defined each other's lives in the sport and outside of it by staying side by side in every battle. A win wouldn't feel like a win to any of them if not snatched by the other one.

3. Carlos Sainz Jr x Lando Norris [ Ship Name: Carlando / Muppet Friends ]

Fandom: Formula 1 RPF

Reasons: THEY'RE MY COMFORT SHIP!!!! They take care of each other, mention each other everywhere, go on golf dates (and dates) with each other, spend time with each other on family weddings/holidays and even after it's been three years since Carlos switched teams, their bond keeps on getting deeper and deeper. And these two were the ones people initially thought would not get along. They proved everyone wrong, and still are. I personally believe both of them progressed a lot as a personality after meeting each other. Specially in Lando's case- He's a big brother to Oscar now. Carlando for life!

2. Nico Rosberg x Lewis Hamilton [ Ship Name: Brocedes / Rosmilton ]

Fandom: Formula 1 RPF

Reasons: REASONS??? FOR WHAT EXACTLY??? Both of them come from two totally different worlds and background - one with everything and one with almost nothing. Nico grew up in a lavish lifestyle but he established that friendship doesn't care about your background. It's just friendship. And he had his fair share with Lewis, a little boy from the UK who found a friend in a place and time he least expected to be. They went on vacations together, raced each other as teammates - both in karting and F1, which was a dream they both promised each other of when they were practically babies. But the same dream tore them apart later in life and they're so close and yet so far. And the fact that it's not fictional is just tragic.

Yes, I can do this! I'm happy to include the stronger pairings as well, I just tell people to omit sending them to me only because I already know about them haha. I usually put an explanation and deep dive into the results when they're done! So I'll break away from the popular pairings and go into what's most popular outside of them, ect ect.

Which specifically? I will just give brief opinion about some that I know.

Webbonso : ❤️MY DADS❤️ They have all the tropes I love, old man yaoi, friends to lover, black cat x orange cat (war criminal), etc

Strollonso : My #2 ship in general,my first F1 ship so they have special place in my heart. I love how Alonso treat Lance and the way Lance respects Alonso.

Buttonso : I ship them, both basically match each other freak. The McLaren honda era of them is abysmal, but at least they make it bearable.

Ferwis : They're growing on me! Quiet literally the only old man yaoi of the current grid. I wish to be sandwiched-WHO SAID THAT

Fisinando : They're cute but I need to deep diver to their history before I can form proper opinion.

Vettonso : No opinion, I rarely see their content to begin with both as fanart or irl comparing to others.
