Flight 👀

WIP from a multi-chapter Gundam Wing fic that I will be carrying on my back forever like Atlas... :'D (Rating: general, CW: none)

The little car was given a rigorous inspection, the remainder of its contents confiscated, and soon they were escorted down streets lined with barricades and soldiers, past rows of tanks, and beneath the long shadow of a mechanical giant that stood with its back to the sun. 

Then they were on an overpass, leaving the capital city of Havreneuf, of what was now the former Sanc Kingdom. 

The city looked the same as it always had, except unexpected parts of it were missing, as if a child had reached down with a clumsy fist and torn out sections of a model, knocking things flat that were in its way, and muddying the sunset with dirty fingers. 

The skyline was different now– there had been a palace up on that hill, backed by white cliffs. It had watched over the ships coming in from the western sea to port, and the squares of red-roofed houses, and the church steeples. Its garden had been full of tulips.

Milliardo watched it scroll past in the distance, smoke darkening the sky long after it left the frame of his window. Before Sanc disappeared from view completely, he saw it: hazy as a faraway windmill on a still day, passing so much slower than the nearby buildings, one of the bipedal metal dreadnaughts stood, bathed in the last long arms of daylight. It was motionless, its single eye reflecting brilliant, liquid gold, and nothing troubled it.

“Mobile suits here too, huh,” the man said warily, “no surprise, I guess. Must’ve learned how good they are at scaring people back in the Colonies.”

“Hey,” the woman turned in her seat and gave him a reassuring nod, one arm behind the driver’s headrest. “We did it. Everything’s going to be okay.”  

The man looked over his shoulder with his broad, American smile. “You did great, kid. You did everything right. We’re going to get you somewhere safe now, you’ve got some good people looking out for you.”

“--ill I s-- hhy s-hhist-r?” he tried to ask. He was handed a bottle of water. 

“Oh, sweetheart. No. I’m sorry,” the woman’s face creased, “not for a while. But she’s safe. She’s safe. We got word from Marena and Pagan. They made it out. We won’t be able to contact them again for a while, but she’s going to be alright, and so are you.”  

The sun disappeared over the horizon. Headlights switched on. 

“You can take the hair off now, if you want. It’s going to be a long drive– try to get some sleep.”

He slid the wig and hat off his head. How was he meant to sleep? He was a piano wire ready to snap. But he did anyway. He must have, because he did not remember anything else of that journey, only his arrival at their destination, several countries and a lifetime away.

“I take you watched the footage,” Treize began. At Heero’s nod, he hummed. “I figured as much. I am giving this case to another agent. Your emotions would cloud your logic.” He held his hand up at Heero’s immediate loud protest. “No arguments. I want to find Wufei, too. But as passionate as you are about the man, you may overlook important things. I’m giving this to Agents Alex and Mueller. They’re qualified in kidnappings and I have faith in their abilities.”

Anything else Treize may have said was drowned out in Heero’s shock. He was off the case looking for his lover. He was forbidden from looking for Wufei. Alex and Mueller would be looking for him… Heero did not trust those two. There had always been something off about them from the start and he was sure they would somehow bungle this. Heero didn’t notice how hard he was gripping his coffee cup until the thin paper crumpled under his grip and hot coffee poured over his hand. Treize watched in shock as Heero didn’t react and made up his mind.

“Agent Yuy, you are back on leave as of this moment,” Treize declared. “You are of unsound mind so long as this case is active and there’s no telling how long it will be active. You are to act as a civilian for the foreseeable future. You will still receive pay but if I catch one single hint of you trying to work this case on your own, I will terminate your employment for insubordination before you can breathe. Am I clear, Agent Yuy?”

As for the Untitled Oz fic, I don't have a blurb to share but I *can* tell you about it. The basis for this fic is that, at some point in his life, Wufei is actually rescued by OZ against an attack by the Alliance. It's o the point where he can't easily return to the pilots but he's not exactly a prisoner. It's designed around various Steven Universe songs and my favorite so far is "Do It For Her". I can share my outline for it, here!

Training between wufei and Zechs

Zechs realizes Wufei has NO IDEA HOW TO FIGHT

Wufei admits he’s a scholar not a fighter, mobile suit or not

Zechs trains him in practical mobile suit fighting and swordfighting, teaches him to use a gun and fistfight

Bonding over doing it for “Him”

Zechs realizes that while Wufei’s absolutely insufferable, he’s not a total idiot and can absolutely take orders and isn’t a terrible fighter

Judge, Jury and Executioner 

I'm on a Song of Ice and Fire kick right now, so I think this would probably be a Ned Stark character study. Ned is introduced executing an innocent man and justifying it to his seven-year-old by explaining that justice in the North is based on his personal vibe check and then he dies because a more powerful man thinks it's funny.

So, yeah. A story where he decides not to execute someone. Or maybe where he executes someone and later learns he wasn't actually guilty. Or maybe one where he really thinks about what happened to his brother and father and realizes all that much power in one person's hands is kind of terrifying, even if it's someone 'good' like himself or his buddies.

remembered that i still had the asks for the 'send me a title i'll say a fic i'd write for it' meme unanswered after 5000 years

anyway this has a vibe similar to my Pathologic fic titles so that's the direction my thoughts are turning in, even though my brain hasn't been in that space for a while. I think I'd write a character-focused Young Vlad fic; he's one of my favorite characters and I'd like to explore him more than I did in i want trees instead of gravestones. Specifically, I've always been fascinated by the detail Vlad Senior mentions - that Young Vlad was once a skeptic but 'had' to admit the reality of the Town/Steppe's supernatural side. ]

So, a fic focused on Vlad coming home from college (he just seems like he went), having convinced himself in the years away that the magical qualities of the Town are products of superstition, only to have his arrival almost perfectly coincide with the first outbreak of the Sand Plague; a grisly backdrop for his discovery that as soon as he takes an interest in local legend, it takes an interest in him right back.

Title Meme

So I had to reread this one because I wasn't familiar with it but hot damn this one's gonna get worked on! I really like it. Surprise, it's 5x1 because I'm predictable.

“If you want,” Heero said, “I will take the couch while you have the bed.”

Wufei whipped his head around and looked at Heero in shock. The man was staring at the bed so intently that it was a wonder it did not combust. He looked between Heero and the bed in surprise, swallowing softly and changed his mind, shaking his head.

“No, that’s not necessary. We will need to learn to cohabitate eventually. We should start tonight. Besides, if we don’t at least sleep in it together, my family will never stop wailing that we will divorce and ruin the family. I don’t want that and I don’t think that you do either.”

Heero grimaced. “No, I do not. I only just acquired your father as a business partner. I’d hate to offend him by making him think that I think something is wrong with his daughter-”

“*Son*.” Wufei put all of his weight behind that word, stating it so empathetically that Heero took a step back and raised his hands placatingly while looking very confused.

“Son? If, ah, you say so I believe you, but your father-”

“Refuses to acknowledge modern gender identity out of tradition and would rather see me miserable as his daughter than thrive as his son,” Wufei bit back, though his acid no longer flew at Heero with the other’s agreement. Wufei straightened. “In fact, I’m surprised to hear you agree so easily.”

Ghost King Danny Summoning!

The heroes fail to stop it, everyone is panicking, they feel like they’ve truly failed to stop it. etc etc

EVERYONE is ready to fight for their final life.

They’re as ready as they can be to go against something so evil JLD are scared of it.

SO when the dome that was sealing them away from the summoner finally shatters they are expecting some huge eldritch being, something made of pure nightmares... Only...

Only to find an old tape recorder in the middle of the summoning circle...

Everything is dead silent. No one moves...

Then it clicks on and makes a loud noise.

The noise?

It was the no longer in service beep.

“We’re, not, sorry.” a teenage voice began after the beep ended, startling everyone as they weren’t expecting this at all “But the Ghost King you are trying to reach is no longer in service or rather King anymore. Thus any big evil world ending plans you have made will not be approved during my reign. Please, get a life and try to actually live it because I will not be ending anyone's or mass genocide anything... Also to the really insane Fruitloop that tried summoning a being with the warning of "will cause the end of your world". I am the Ghost King now, eventually everything and everyone will enter my domain regardless of who, when, how, or why. That is something I can wait for, I got no reason to speed it up.... So have a pleasant day and enjoy being arrested or ended for doing this dumb summoning if you decided to do this in front of like everyone in your world or something... Goodbye!”

The world went silent after that.
