Didn't know what to put here and I ended up making a swap au.

Hear we have Lady Gem, Guardian of the Overgrown, and the Wizard Katherine from the Crystal Cliffs.

Headcanons and ramblings under the cut:

Okay, I gotta be honest. I actually hate this trope in AU making. What do I mean by this? I hate AUs that's centered around shipping, even though I'm also guilty of this. And I'm always very particular when it comes to swap AUs.

But, this swap led me to swap the others and the idea of fWhip being the ruler of Rivendell was already funny to me. I have many ideas for this AU, especially since I have a lot of headcanons on world building from the OG version.

So let's start with,

Gem

Gem here is still twins with fWhip. Both of them are instead from the royal family of Rivendell with their mother being a fairy coming from the Overgrown.

Them being fraternal twins, one was more elven and the other was fae.

Originally, Gem was gonna inherit the throne of Rivendell. But, at age 14 when the council from the Overgrown were to choose their next guardian, the Spring chose her.

This led to a change on their father's line of succession and now fWhip was next in line.

This led to the two of them being educated separately for the rest of their teen years as future rulers.

As the Guardian of the Overgrown, Gem does her best to keep the nation free from conflict. Especially while being sandwiched by two nations of the Wither Rose Alliance.

Katherine

The Crystal Cliffs, a nation that was formerly autonomous to the Grimlands was the nation that Katherine was born and raised in.

She lived an average life being one of its citizen, yet a student of flora magic in the most prestigious academy in the nation.

But by age 16 she was approached by Gandalf, the immortal cat as the next Head Wizard. This surprised her but gave her a sense of responsibility for being chosen.

However, being the ruler of the Crystal Cliffs is not an easy task. Katherine tries everything in her power to avoid war for her people. But the nation being part of the notorious Wither Rose Alliance, proves this to be difficult.

So how did they got together?

A part of me wants it to happen earlier compared to the OG version where they got together after Gem got cured from corruption.

In this AU, they got together while they were looking for a cure for the corruption mid-Xornot arc.

• he got less angry at the spider people when you threatened him, he became more patient and understanding because of your guidance, too.

• you taught him to use "po" and "opo" when addressing his elders, especially towards your parents when he met them. he was initially confused as to why you used it on him when you two were practically the same age, but when you explained it was just your habit, he didn't ask anymore. in fact, he kinda found it endearing.

• when he learned how "ate" (ah-teh) and "kuya" were used, he called you that for a while until you told him you didn't want him to call you that and just refer to you by name.

• "ate/kuya, what's the update?", "ate/kuya, your report?", "ate/kuya, i want some, what was it? ah, ate/kuya, i want some tinapay (bread)"

• but when he learned about filipino pet names......... he used them TO THE MAX.

• he calls you, "mahal", "beh", and the..... "bebe labs" (cries) he used the "bebe labs" one because you kept using it for him.

• "bebe labs, what's for dinner?" now that was the first and last time he ever called you that. yes, lyla and you have a recording of that, it's your ringtone.

• your song with him is "panalangin" by apo hiking society, change my mind.

• he doesn't seem too interested in teleseryes, what with his hardass and stern look, but when he caught you watching one at home at night when he came back, he found himself sitting down with you and making commentary about the antagonistic bitches and how it'd be so satisfying for them to receive karma, tearing about a character's death, and clicking his tongue as he says, "i fucking knew they were gonna cheat/weren't dead/that character was the parent"

• he'd make an effort to learn tagalog and/or your local dialect for you, especially if you were more fluent in that than in english. he also wanted you to feel that he valued your culture and your roots, just as much as he valued his own.

• HE LOVES THE CHICKENJOY IN JOLLIBEE 🫂🫂🫂

• if you two ever got into an argument, he'd buy you jollibee as an apology and say he was really sorry and that the whole argument was stupid, he shouldn't have said/done what he said or did.

• MIGGY IN A BARONG TAGALOG >>>>>>

• he blushes when you call him "guapo/gwapo", you do it all the time :> he calls you "maganda" and "mahal ko" regardless of your gender <333

today, i checked out din blouses sa isang concept store sa Southmall. may nagustuhan ako (almost php400) pero maiiba sa vibe na gusto ko sana so di ko pa din kinuha.

from mall, pumunta ako derma tas paglabas ng BF sinubukan ko mag tingin sa ukay and found this top na mej iba din sa vibe, pero pwede na kasi ang cute nya and 150 pesos lang.

@orinberry Watch me do the Elmo meme again until my laptop battery dies. So this all started around a month ago when I was cramming and making plans for mcyt yuri week. Needless to say I already have my list of characters to swap (somehow I'll figure out how I can make Jimmy the King of Pixandria while Lizzy's the Queen of Mazelea and still be siblings) and I've made that KathGem fanart as well. (You'd want to look into that fanart since there's a few hcs there.)

However, with Scott and fWhip there's still a lot for me to workshop on since I'm not done with both povs and I'm the type to be obsessed with worldbuilding.

So far this is what I got:

Important to note that how I want to handle this swap au is that they have their "core personality" but they have to react and be affected by their environment like how I discussed Pearl on this post (and by extension Sausage in the tags).

Elven fWhip, much like his OG counterpart, wasn't meant to be heir of Rivendell due to their uncle not liking him but ended up as heir anyways after Gem got shipped off to the Overgrown.

Scott meanwhile is a human who was raised as the only heir of the Grimlands and his father's gunpowder industry. He's still suppose to be Aeor's champion, having Alinar as his past life.

You could imagine the kind of crisis the both would have finding that out, with fWhip learning that his boyfriend is his god's chosen one.

I could imagine a lot of teasing coming from fWhip eventually though. Like he'd joke about Scott being destined to be his hero or something.

Scott would've asked so many questions to fWhip all because of his predicament. He's the count of the Grimland's, he wasn't meant to be an elven chosen one. He's not even an elf.

As for the WRA, Scott's approach is in-line with most of his allies of trying to have better PR and generally trying to do what's best for his people. Pearl wants a better look for Mythland, Wizard Katherine wants to avoid war, idk about Sausage I'm still trying to figure him out but we'll see.

But, Scott would be the type to mess with people a lot in this AU. Being the Count he doesn't mind playing into the intimidation of his empire, but he can be really nice.

fWhip on the other hand, his reign is heavily focused on developing much of Rivendell's infrastructure and connections to other empires.

He's forced to keep out of any conflict by the council for the sake of Rivendell's image. Even Gem scolds him to not drag Rivendell to any unwarranted conflict.

He's still the type of guy to jump from one interest to another, and at one point his interest swung to redstone and gunpowder and what other nation does it better than the Grimlands?

Scott was the first one to try flirting with fWhip, although very casual, and wasn't expecting fWhip to flirt back. Elves have a reputation in the Grimlands to be a bit stuck up.

Either way this led to a lot of talking between the two of them and Scott was lucky that fWhip was a very unconventional elf who didn't mind dating mortals like him.

They became lovers in secret without any of their councils knowing.

fWhip thought that Gem would've scolded him for going after a mortal, nobility or not. But after confessing that to her, it only led to him learning that his sister have eyes for a certain Head Wizard.
