LX Factory Sunday Market

Η αγορά της Κυριακής στο hipster hotspot LX Factory είναι λες και στάζει μέλι. Δε θα μπορέσεις να της αντισταθείς. Η τοποθεσία της αγοράς αυτής είναι ιδιαίτερη αφού βρίσκεται στις εγκαταστάσεις μιας πρώην εταιρείας υφασμάτων που μετατράπηκαν σε funky μπαρ, μοντέρνα μέρη για φαγητό και καταστήματα, ακριβώς κάτω από το ορόσημο της γέφυρας της 25ης Απριλίου. Μπορείς να γιορτάσεις τις τελευταίες αγορές σου με vintage ρούχα, χειροποίητα κοσμήματα, σπάνια βινύλια και στη συνέχεια να απολαύσεις ένα κοκτέιλ στη βεράντα του Rio Maravilha. Λόγω της καταπληκτικής θέας στον ποταμό Τάγο, είναι το ιδανικό μέρος για να θαυμάσεις το ηλιοβασίλεμα στη Λισαβόνα.

Αλλά το άλλο μισό του ακινήτου συνεχίζει να λειτουργεί ως παραδοσιακή ψαραγορά μέχρι τις 2 μ.μ. κάθε μέρα, με τους πωλητές να πουλάνε εξαιρετικά φρέσκα προϊόντα για πολύ λιγότερο από ό, τι στα κοντινά παντοπωλεία και σούπερ μάρκετ. Είναι ένα υπέροχο μέρος για να περιπλανηθεί με μια φωτογραφική μηχανή έτσι ώστε οι στιγμές να μέινουν ανεξίτηλες στον χρόνο.

LISBON 🇵🇹

Lisbon is the stunning capital city of Portugal, and is one of the most charismatic and vibrant cities of Europe. It is a city that effortlessly blends traditional heritage, with striking modernism and progressive thinking. As a holiday destination, Lisbon offers a rich and varied history, a buzzing nightlife and is blessed with a glorious year-round climate.

I've been in Lisbon with my best friend for a long week-end and I'm going to give you some tips for a 3-days-trip to Lisbon.

WHERE TO STAY

We stayed in Rossio Apartment, a very nice and cozy apartment, located right in the city center of Lisbon. Price was not super fair, but because we booked last minutes and that was the best choice we had.

HOW TO GET THERE

From the airport to the city center we cought the subway. It's not the best subway I saw in Europe, but it's cheaper than the taxi, just 3€.

We arrived in the evening and we went right away eating in one of the best restaurant I read of, Taberna da Rua das Flores. In this restaurant only fresh and local food is served. They tried to combine local ingredients with other tastes of the world. Price was good, not the cheapest, but it really worthed.

DAY 1

We stayed in the city center of Lisbon and we walked around everywhere the whole day. The city center is not huge, you can easily do that in one day.

WHAT TO SEE:

-Tram 28E / jump on the tram and have a first glimpse of this beautiful city. It costs 3€ and it takes around 40mins.

We had breakfast at Pasteleria National (very good pastries)!

- Castello di Sao Jorge

- Alfama

Alfama is Lisbon's most emblematic quarter and one of the most rewarding for walkers and photographers thanks to its medieval alleys and outstanding views.

Because its foundation is dense bedrock, it survived the 1755 earthquake, and a walk through this old-fashioned residential neighborhood is now a step back in time. It's a village within a city still made up of narrow streets, tiny squares, churches, and whitewashed houses with tile panels and wrought-iron balconies adorned with pots of flowers, drying laundry, and caged birds.

It was settled by the Romans and the Visigoths (it was also an important Jewish quarter in the 15th century), but it was the Moors who gave the district its atmosphere and name (alhama means springs or bath, a reference to the fountains and hot springs found in the area)

- Chiado

In the evening we ate at la Pharmacia, a very special local restaurant (it seems to be in a Pharmacy)!

DAY 2

- Sintra

Sintra, the Moon Hill, is a place full of magic and mystery, where Nature and Man have combined in such a perfect symbiosis that UNESCO has granted it Word Heritage Site status.

Have breakfast at the small but famous Casa Piriquita. Have some Travesseiros (our best choice, warm and covered with sugar, similar to Italian chiacchiere) and try also Queijadas, similar to Pasteis de Nata, but with tasty cheese inside 😜

WHAT TO SEE:

- Palacio National

- Pena Palace

- Palacio da Quinta da Regaleira

If you go to Sintra, don’t miss the chance to visit the westernmost point of mainland Europe, Cabo da Roca. Located at latitude 38º 47´north and longitude 9º 30´west, Cabo da Roca is an important coordinate for those sailing along the coast, as it is the most westerly point of mainland Europe, a fact borne out by the certificates that visitors take away as a souvenir.

- Cascais

Cascais is a traditional and charming Portuguese fishing town, which is situated on the beautiful Lisbon coastline. Historically, Cascais was the summer retreat of the Portuguese nobility, and today the town is an elegant fusion of decorative 19th-century architecture and modern tourist facilities.

In the evening we went back to Lisbon and we ate at Adega da Mó, best local cheap food. We had the best bachalau 😜

Try the famous liqur Ginja, delicious!

DAY 3

- Belem

Belem is the charming district to the west of Lisbon, and is the setting for many of the city’s most iconic tourist attractions.

WHAT TO SEE:

- Mosteiro dos Jeronimos the greatest example of the Manueline style of architecture

- The Torre de Belem, Lisbon’s most famous and photographed monument

Absolutely to-do: have a Pastel de Belém in the Fábrica Pastéis de Belém, the traditional home of the Portuguese custard tart🍪

- LX Factory

LX Factory is certainly one of the hotspots of Lisbon. Located in otherwise quiet area of Alcantara, it’s heaving with locals and tourists every day. Amazing bars and restaurants in Lisbon are located in LX surrounded by cafes, lovely clothing and accessory shops and some of the most famous Portuguese street art. But that is not all it has to offer.

An amazing culmination of fresh food market and street food; Time Out serves the very best in Portuguese and International cuisines that is affordable for all.

Preferably from May to September. Lots of sunshine, but you need to search thoroughly for accommodation as in touristy places prices get high.

There is no need to stay in, such though as the city is easy to walk. You can quickly get into the historical center with public transportation.

Prices are lower from October to April. The weather is hot in summer, but Rome has free water fountains all over the city, and you will be amazed by the colors of the city with summer light.

You can find lots of affordable accommodations outside of the historical center, but it will still be close to it, so no worries. Better to go there with the sun than rain.
