Exercise Fic (and podcast) Recs 6
Wow, I can’t believe I’ve done six of these already!
I have four fic recs this week (all DC, but not entirely superbat) with some bonus art!  The first two are by the same author, Batshit_Bogs, and they are series.  I got interested in the first fic series because it is a wingfic AU and those are my SECRET WEAKNESS (don’t tell anyone!).  The second fic series is a reverse robin AU where Damian is the first Robin, and it works backwards from there.  I’m not completely done with it yet.  I’m on part 6 of the series, and let me tell you, it is HARD TO WALK on a treadmill when you are CRYING.  Uhhhhhhgggg.  Very good though, I can’t wait catch up with the rest of the series.  The third one updated twice (!!!!!) this week, so I was very excited to read the new chapters while walking (it was also a nice pick me up after reading the last one).  The final fic is a timkon fic!  I saw januariat’s lovely art inspired by the fic, and had to check it out :D  I haven’t read much of timkon, but after reading this one, I NEED more of them in my life!

beautiful art!  from @januariat
I’m still catching up with the Lions Led By Donkeys Podcast, so I listened to a couple of there episodes while walking.  These episodes are from late 2018/early 2019, and both of them (especially the Battle of Hogwarts episode) mention JKR.  It’s interesting to hear people’s thoughts and opinions of her in the past compared to now. The Battle of Hogwarts episode was also interesting for me to listen to because until recently (whenever The Batman movie came out), I was reading A LOT of HP fanfic, and you can tell that the hosts either don’t know about or don’t read fanfic.  Also, it was fun yelling at my speakers when the one host kept fucking up the canon lore, lol.
Unlocked Bonus Episode:  The Battle of Hogwarts from Lions Led By Donkeys Podcast
Episode 33 - Yukio Mishima and the Suicidal Crossfit Cult from Lions Led By Donkeys Podcast
I mixed it up a bit when I went to the coffeehouse for breakfast this morning.  Instead of getting a croissant with my latte, I got a CHOCOLATE croissant.  Very tasty  😋

It was overcast at the arboretum today, but it was still nice to walk.  I got another good picture of my Favorite Spot.  I like how the moss covered rocks follow the water.
Tumblr media
There were SO MANY cardinals at the bird watch today, omg.  There are EIGHT in this picture (possibly seven, one of the birds might be a male house finch).
Tumblr media
Here is a nice picture of a male cardinal and female hairy woodpecker I liked.

Just My Luck It’s You
TimKon, Soulmates AU, Fluff, Bit of Angst, Hurt and Comfort, Oblivious Kon, Injured Tim.
Summary: One night as Kon was dosing off to sleep it suddenly feels like he's been suckered punch and left breathless. As he gasps for air he knows something big has just happened to Tim, his very human soulmate, and knows he needs to go and find him no matter what.
Enjoy! :D
Kon scowls at his wrist as he walks into the kitchen of the Tower. Cassie was already in there sat at the island reading a book. Kon goes over there and slumps down in the empty seat next to her while saying, “Whoever my soulmate is, I hate them.”
He glares at his aching wrist in annoyance. It had been hurting since last night. He had been writing his essay for his science class when a sudden sharp pain erupted in his wrist. He held it tightly to his chest and breathed through the pain, he knew instantly that something had happened to his soul mate because writing an essay couldn’t cause that much pain. From then it had been throbbing all night and now all morning, it’s like his soulmate had just broken their wrist or something.
His soulmate, whomever that may be, was either accident prone or just very, very unlucky because it’s like every week Kon is feeling some sort of bruise or even a broken bone. It’s annoying! He’s supposed to be invulnerable, barely able to be injured or hurt and here he was every week in pain because of his (assumingly) very human soulmate.
“What’s wrong now?” Cassie asks turning a page of her book. She sounded exasperated and Kon has the feeling that she only asked the question just to humour him.
Ignoring that feeling he rubs his wrist to try and ease the pain in it. “I think they broke their wrist last night. My right one is really causing me some grief.”
Next to him Cassie freezes. He gives her a quizzical look. “What?”
She says nothing as she places her bookmark inside of the book before turning to him with a calculating look. “You still don’t know who they are yet, do you?”
“Uh, no, why?” He raises his eyebrow at her.
She doesn’t answer him, instead she digs through her pocket and brings out her phone. She goes on it, jabs at the screen a few times and places it down in the space between them.
“Uh Cass what are you-”
“Shush,” she holds up a finger at him, “I have a theory and I want to see if I’m right.”
Kon goes to ask her what she’s on about when Tim’s voice is suddenly coming from the phone in front of them.
“Cassie? What’s wrong? We only spoke a couple hours ago, what’s happened?”
Cassie pointedly ignores the look Kon shoots her. “Everything’s fine Tim, stop your worrying. I’m here with Kon now actually, tell him what happened to you last night.”
There’s a pause between them for a moment until Tim responds sounding just as confused as Kon was feeling. “Uh okay, but why?”
“Just do it.” She snaps at him.
“Uh hey Kon.”
“Hey man.” Kon replies, he shoots Cassie a strange look for her behaviour before focusing on the phone again, “What’s up? What happened last night?”
“Look I don’t know why Cassie seems to be making a big deal of it, but I broke my right wrist last night. I landed badly from a jump, it was a stupid amateur mistake that’s all. I’m fine, just give me a few weeks and I’ll be back to normal.”
“Just take it easy then dude, take the chance to do some R and R.”
Tim snorts, “I’m sorry but don’t you know who I am? Of course I’m not going to take it easy.”
Kon could easily hear the smile in his voice and is unable to stop himself from cracking a grin himself. “Yeah I know. At least I tried.”
“Yeah sure, anyway I gotta go, Alfred’s calling for dinner. I’ll see you the weekend!”
“See you later man.”
The phone switches off and Kon turns back to Cassie. “Okay, so the point in that was… why are you looking at me like that?”
Cassie was glaring at him with narrowed and lips pressed into a firm line. It made Kon want to recoil, it’s almost like he’s about to be told off for something.
She throws out her hands in disbelief, “Are you being serious!”
Kon shrugs helplessly, having no clue to what she was on about. Cassie let’s out a hard sigh and rubs her hand over her forehead in frustration. “I can’t believe – right. Your wrist, your right wrist, is hurting correct?” At his nod she continues. “Okay so what Tim just tell us about his wrist?”
“That he broke it.” He replies slowly still not getting it.
She makes another frustrated noise and on the table her hands clench tightly, like she’s physically restraining herself from strangling Kon.
“Tim hurts his wrist last night. Coincidentally the same night yours starts hurting. What do you think that means?”
It takes a few moment but it finally clicks inside of his head at what she was hinting at. His eyes immediately widen in shock and surprise at the thought.
“Oh no! No, no, no, no!” He’s shaking both his head and his hands in refusal. “Tim is not my soulmate. That’s not – that’s not possible.”
“Isn’t it?” She challenges. “I had a feeling that you two were soulmates, this kinda confirms it.”
Kon shakes his head again. “No it’s not. It’s not Tim. It can’t be.”
Cassie gives him a look that says he’s being stupid. “Just think about it alright Kon.”
Having had enough of the conversation he gets up off his chair and starts making his way out of the room. As he does so he shouts over his shoulder, “It’s not him!”
“Just think about it!”
He couldn’t stop thinking about it. He couldn’t stop thinking about the fact that Tim could be his soulmate. It was plaguing his mind for hours, even days, after Cassie pointed it out to him. He’s been constantly rethinking and replaying the last couple of years, all of the bumps, bruises and broken bones he’s felt over time and how Tim always seemed to be hurt in the same places at the same time.
How had he not realised it before? Soulmates feel one another’s pain, (physical pain, not emotional) it sucks as much as it is awesome. If you know your soulmate then you know when they’re hurt and you know to go and help them. On the other hand if you don’t know them then being in pain and knowing they’re hurting somehow is awful because you can’t help them because you don’t know who they are.
After Cass had pointed it out to him Kon couldn’t unsee it. Any time Tim flinched in pain, got a bruise or a cut Conner could feel it, much more than before. That’s probably because he’s now aware of it.
Kon tries to bring it up to Tim multiple of times but he always ends up backing out at the last second. He doesn’t know why he does but he does. He just can’t bring himself to say anything to the other teen about it.
Thankfully after the wrist incident, nothing happens for a while. Just a few bumps and bruises but nothing major which Kon is thankful for, both for Tim’s sake and his own.
It’s two months after Kon realised that Tim was in fact his soulmate when that something major happens. Kon was in his room at the Tower simply dosing on his bed, happily edging towards sleep when he suddenly felt like he couldn’t breathe. It’s like he had been abruptly sucker punched in the gut and got winded from it. He pushes himself upright into a sitting position and clenches his stomach as pain flares up inside of him. He couldn’t breathe. The pain was almost unbearable, he couldn’t say that he’s ever experienced something like it before. It’s probably worse than being exposed to kryptonite.
Still struggling to get air into his body he fumbles for his communicator. Finding it he presses the emergency button and waits. It feels like it takes forever for the others to get to his room, when they eventually do they burst in and give him a funny look when they don’t immediately find the crisis. Somehow he manages to gasp out that he couldn’t breathe and suddenly they’re moving again.
They help him to sit upright even more and get him calmed down enough to get his breathing under control. Once it feels like he has full function of his lungs once again he thanks them for their help. His stomach was still sore but at least he could breathe now.
After a moment Cassie asks, “Kon, what’s wrong? What was that all about?”
“It’s Tim.” He says almost breathlessly. “Tim’s hurt, really, really, bad.”
Bart looks confused for a moment before he’s quickly brightening up at the realisation. “Oh! You guys are soulmates! That’s so awesome!”
Both Kon and Cassie shoot him a look and he shrinks back in on himself. “Sorry, sorry! But if Tim’s in trouble we need to go and get him.”
Cassie looks between them, “Any ideas where he is?”
Taking a deep breath Kon shakes his head, he winces as his stomach twinges in pain again. “Last I knew he was in Gotham, but that hardly means anything nowadays.”
She nods, like knew that already. She’s then looking at Kon, eyeing him up and down worriedly. “Can you fly?”
Kon takes a moment to assess himself before answering. His stomach still felt like it was on fire, most of it seemed to be near the centre of his stomach and everything around his middle seemed to feel really tender.
“I’m fine.” He answers eventually. He can power through this. Whatever had happened to Tim, he needs to go and find his best friend, beat up the bad guys who had hurt him and then beat some sense or something into Tim for getting badly hurt.
Cassie glares at him as if she doesn’t believe him. Thankfully she lets it go with an eyeroll and says, “Right, let’s go to Gotham and find him.”
Bart and Cassie leave his room and Kon takes a moment to follow. It takes a few seconds for him to be able to stand up, ignore the pain and follow his friends from where they had left. Cassie takes Bart in her arms and together they fly off to Gotham in search for their best friend.
Kon nearly dropped out of the sky a good three times before reaching the dark city. The sudden flare of pain that erupted in his stomach at random times was what made him almost fall, the pain had made him lose concentration because of how much it had hurt.
Once they got to the city Kon automatically hones his super hearing onto Tim’s heartbeat. He guides the others to the west side of the city and down into some dingy, skanky alleyway between a couple of apartment blocks. They touch down just inside of the entrance and Kon gestures them to follow him.
They walk no more than 5 feet before they find a body on the floor behind a dumpster. They all rush forward before abruptly stopping in shock. Tim lies on the floor with one hand clasped tightly over his stomach and his over was weakly grasping at his utility belt across his waist. There was blood all over him and a puddle that’s slowly growing in size just underneath him. His breathing was ragged and the part of his face that wasn’t covered in his masked was contorted in visible pain.
“Tim!”
“Oh my god, oh my god, are you okay, what happened, who hurt you…”
The three of them rush to their fallen friend and fall onto the floor next to him. Cassie and Bart were on one side and Kon was on the other. Kon reaches out and grabs the hand that was weakly grasping at Tim’s belt and holds it in his own, this gets Tim’s attention and the vigilante looks up at him and frowns.
“Kon?” His voice was quiet, weak and raspy. It made Kon’s heart break at hearing it.
He leans forward, “It’s me buddy, I’m right here.”
Tim carries on frowning, as if not believing it was him. “Conner?”
Before Kon could even try and stop him, Tim was trying to sit up. It causes them both to simultaneously hiss in pain at his movement.
Cassie pushes Tim back down. “Don’t move you idiot, we need to get you help. Now what happened?”
There’s a pause between them and for a terrifying moment Kon thought that Tim had passed out but then his friend was making a sound before saying, “I got stabbed.”
His response would be funny if he wasn’t on the verge of dying right now. Cassie obviously doesn’t see the amusing side of it because she rolls her eyes at him, “Really dumb nuts? I hadn’t noticed.” She glances at both Kon and Bart before looking at Tim. “Where do you want us to take you?”
Tim opens his mouth to answer but no noise comes out. That’s when Bart presses forward, his hands covering Tim’s profusely bleeding wound. Tim’s blood was covering Bart’s hand and the sight of it made Kon want to vomit.
“Just take him to the cave,” Bart suggests, “His family can handle it from there.”
Kon shakily nods. That’s a good idea, a sensible idea. When had Bart become the sensible one? He sucks in a sharp breath when Bart presses harder on Tim’s wound, feeling all the pain from it in his own stomach. They really needed to get him help and get it fast.
Kon lets go of Tim’s hand and starts sliding his arms underneath him. Tim makes a sound at the movement and Kon gently shushes him. He looks at the others as he lifts Tim up off the ground. “Come on, we need to get him help.”
Once again Cassie takes Bart in her arms and altogether they head off towards the Batcave.
-----
Several days later Kon finds himself in Wayne Manor in Tim’s room. His best friend was sat on his bed, his back against the headboard, his torso was wrapped in layers of bandages and he was pouting.
Kon smirks at him in disbelief. “Dude I’m not getting you coffee or your laptop. Alfred’s given you strict bedrest instructions. Working away on your computer defeats the object of that and no way in hell am I going against Alfred, not even for you pal.”
Tim carries on pouting at him, he even crosses his arms over his chest as he does so. The action makes him look like a child and Kon couldn’t help but laugh at him.
After a moment Tim drops the act and shifts on the bed to get comfortable again, however the movement causes his stomach to twinge painfully which causes him to hiss. At the same time Kon feels the pain run through his own body and simultaneously as Tim does, he hisses at the suddenness and sharpness of it.
Kon’s hiss doesn’t go unnoticed by Tim because he catches the funny look his friend sends him. Thankfully Tim doesn’t comment on it as he settles down once again so Kon lets it go. Kon considers him for a moment before asking, “You okay dude?”
Tim swallows before nodding, “Okay as I can be I guess. It’s not my first stab wound, I’ll be back to normal in no time.”
“Yeah I guess.” Kon nods again, because he knows Tim and knows what he’s like. He won’t stop until he’s back to his usual level of fitness.
They fall into easy silence after that. After years of knowing one another and being friends awkward silences have long since passed. However the silence doesn’t last long because Tim cocks his head to the side and stares at him with a look Kon knows all too well. It’s his analytical look, like he’s got a mystery and is trying to solve it kind of look.
Kon raises an eyebrow at him, “What? Why are you looking at me like that.”
The look stays on Tim’s face as he asks, “How did you know that I was hurt? I hadn’t called you or the Titans at the time, yet you got to me first.” He seems to realise what he had said and back tracks on himself, “Don’t get me it’s greatly appreciated and I’m happy that you came, but I’m just wondering how you knew.”
Kon’s not offended by his words, he’s actually amused more than anything because it’s not often that Tim rambles when speaking. It’s a welcomed sight so Kon finds it hard to not be offended by his best friend.
In response he shrugs, “Well, I guess I just heard your heartbeat spike, went to the other and together we investigated. You know how I’m trained onto your heartbeat dude.” He’s trying to play it cool and be nonchalant about the whole thing because he really doesn’t want to step into that territory just yet. He still doesn’t think he’s ready for that.
Unfortunately Tim decides to live up to his ‘detective’ nickname because he carries on looking at Kon like he’s a puzzle to be solved and doesn’t let the matter go. “I feel like it’s more than that Kon. You and I both know that it goes deeper than you just listening to my heartbeat.”
Kon looks away from him, now feeling unsure. Of course he knows that Tim is right. They both know he’s right, that’s the annoying thing about it. He opens his mouth to speak up but nothing comes out, he tries a second time and gets the same results. In the end he shakes his head in defeat and remains silent.
That’s when Tim speaks up, his voice is quiet and understanding. “Conner… I think we’ve both known this for a while and whatever the reason neither of us have bothered to comment on it, but I think we need to address it now. The reason you knew I was hurt is because we’re soulmates.”
Kon turns his head and looks at Tim. His best friend was no longer wearing his analytical look but now was wearing one of understanding, one that read, ‘I'm here, you can talk to me’.
“You knew I was hurt because you felt it too. And when you felt it you came running.”
Kon swallows the lump that’s formed in his throat. “Of course I did, why wouldn’t I?” He lets out a disbelieving laugh, “Jesus man, I didn’t know how to bring it up to you. I’ve been trying to for ages but I just couldn’t bring myself to say anything.”
The edges of Tim’s lips quirk up in a small smile, “That’s okay. I felt the same too. Though it’s probably worse on your end, sorry.”
Kon snorts, “Yeah it’s just my luck that it’s you who’s my soulmate, the very human Robin.”
Tim fakes a scowl, “As if that’s my fault. I didn’t choose to be this way. On the other hand I’m happy that you’re mine, means I have to only deal with my pain and hardly any of yours.”
“I feel like this is very one sided right now.”
“That’s because it is.”
They fall silent before both of them are bursting out laughing. Kon feels the weight he’s been carrying over the last few come off his shoulder’s. Tim’s his soulmate and he’s Tim’s and he’s completely fine with that.

TimKon week Day 1 – Bed sharing
So at least one line in this thing is something my fiancé actually said to be after helping out at the Medieval Festival this month. You can guess which line.
“I didn’t think you would go to bed without me. I know bats are normally nocturnal.”
Tim stirs from his light sleep to Kon pressing against him as he gets into the bed.
“Signal died, figured I’d take a nap while waiting for it to get back up,” Tim explains, rolling over to cuddle with his boyfriend. Because he came out here even with its crap reception for Kon and deserves to enjoy it. Instead of burying his nose into Kon’s chest like he wants to he instead curls it.
“You smell like hessian, hay, and cow.”
“Yeah? I’ve been working,” Kon says and Tim accepts the fact that he’s going to be awake now. Not merely able to just roll over and fall back asleep in the arms of his boyfriend.
“You stink.”
“Tim you’ve smelt of sewer before. This cannot be as bad as that.”
“I never went to bed smelling like it though.” Tim always made sure to take a very thorough shower whenever he got covered by something particularly gross as Robin. “Go take a shower.”
“Too tired,” Kon says with an exaggerated yawn. “Right now I want to just climb into bed and cuddle with my favourite person.”
“You’re not getting in here while you smell like that.”
“Tim it’s my bed,” Kon says, looking at him dryly. “You don’t get to make the rules in my bed.”
Tim gives his own dry look in response. Which is thankfully all he needs to successfully communicate how much they should both know that is a lie.
“God you’re being such a city kid right now,” Kon says, running his hand though his hair like Tim’s the exasperating one in the situation.
“Kon, I’m from Gotham. I am a city kid.” Tim had never really made claims otherwise. And while he was fine visiting Smallville he certainly couldn’t live there and still doesn’t fully understand how Kon does.
“I know,” Kon says, lightly wrapping his arms around Tim. And Tim doesn’t know why he lets him do it because he smells. Except he totally does, because the whole point of visiting was to be able to spend more time with Kon and not have to worry about Bruce randomly deciding to impose a 30cm rule.
“You still need to take a shower,” Tim says and he can feel Kon pouting as he rests his head on Tim’s shoulder.
“In the morning,” Kon says as he tightens his hug to a firm one.
“How are you not itchy?” Hessian fibres do tend to cling and irritate.
“You get used to it.”
“You’re still taking a shower.” Tim doesn’t particularly want the fibres on him.
“Or I can cuddle with you,” Kon says, gently pulling Tim down back to the bed. Wrapping his limbs around Tim as if to hold him down.
“I should check if the signal is back up.” The nap more than Tim really needed to replenish his energy. And he did have work to get done even on his ‘holiday’ to the Kent’s.
“How about we cuddle first then shower and do whatever Bat-work you have?”
Tim really shouldn’t agree but the whole point of coming was to get to cuddle Kon.
“Promise we’ll get up after 10 minutes?”
“Sure,” Kon says with another yawn. “You gonna’ cuddle now?”
“Yes.”
“Good.”

College AU: Someone Still Loves You
Kon really wasn’t surprised when Tim sat down in the same clothes as the day before, but what was a little off putting was the shoe print on his sleeve and the leaves in his hair.
“Don’t.” Tim snapped as he flopped into his chair and crossing his arms. He didn’t even have his backpack. He reached over and snatched the piece of paper off of Kon’s desk and the dull pencil out of his hand.
“I sooo don’t have enough stuff to share,” Kon said, raising a brow.
“Just let me write the notes, I have better hand writing,” Tim sighed, glaring at the end of the pencil where the eraser was non-existent. “How is it that you can do bullshit like this but I’m the mess?”
“Because I genuinely don’t care and you pretend you don’t care but actually care too much,” Kon said, raising a brow. And really, he didn’t care, as long as he graduated. If he kept his grades decent he could stay at school and didn’t have to move home and that was the whole reason he went away to college.
Tim turned his glare to his friend.
“If I had gotten more sleep, I’d say something equally as painful and true back to you, but I don’t have the brain capacity,” Tim said with a raised brow.
“What happened last night?” Kon asked, though he was sure he at least knew it had to do with-
“My dumbass roommate brought a girl home last night,” Tim said. “And of course I didn’t know that before I went to get a cup of coffee so I could hammer out my paper, left my laptop, backpack, everything but five bucks in cash in the dorm. I slept in the hallway, got stepped on this morning. I didn’t have my key so I couldn’t get into the dorm even though he went to class already, and then I was walking to class and tripped and fell in the shrub outside.”
Kon blinked a few times.
“You know you can come bunk with me and Bart if you get kicked out of your room,” Kon said, and Tim sighed. “Like, we’ve got that chair that’s pretty comfy. Remember, you slept in it after freshman orientation.”
Tim remembered. He also remembered throwing up in the trashcan beside it. College was an experience.
“Well based on the sounds I could hear, I think she’ll be back tonight so maybe I will,” Tim nodded. Kon reached over and pulled a leaf out of Tim’s hair as the professor walked in.
*****
Tim had managed to at least grab his laptop and backpack out of his room before there was a girl at their door and his roommate asked if he could take a walk or something.
Of course.
Tim grabbed his beanie and skateboard and headed out. Kon’s dorm was on the other side of campus, in the slightly nicer, newer building. He and Bart had a kitchen and a bathroom to themselves, which was so much better than the communal bathrooms that Tim got stuck in.
The wind whipped a few hairs around his face as he let his board carry him down the sidewalk, and he crouched to get a bit more speed as he rounded a corner and started towards the stairs. He gripped his board as he jumped and slid down the rail, which was so much better than last time he had tried and missed and fell the six steps down.
That resulted in a fractured wrist and a hot pink cast.
He finally got to their dorm and shot Kon a text so he could be let in. The student who usually buzzed people in during the day was gone, since it was so late.
It took a few minutes, but soon he saw Kon walking towards the glass doors, looking as hot as Tim has ever seen him.
Tim had harbored a small crush on Kon for three years, but had mostly ignored it because they became such good friends freshman year. Tim had been skating as fast as he could for orientation because he was running late, and ended up colliding with Bart and Kon, who were running because they were also late. From there they stuck together all day, went to the parties together, even roomed in one of the big, seven person dorms last year.
But none of them got good assignments that year, so Tim was suck with a prick who liked women far too much.
“Hey,” Kon said as he opened the door with a smile. “Get kicked out again?”
“Yeah,” Tim nodded, picking up his board. “Mind an extra roommate?”
“Nah, come on,” Kon nodded his head towards the inside of the building, and Tim followed. Kon was wearing a charcoal t-shirt and light, ripped up jeans that were rolled up his calved, and a red and black flannel tied around his waist. He even had his silver cross necklace and a leather bracelet. He looked like he walked out of a teen magazine.
Meanwhile, Tim was wearing a dark red hoodie and a black t-shirt with his black jeans and maroon beanie, all of which screamed ‘fuck off’.
“So who was it this time?” Kon asked as they headed up the stairs.
“The screamer from the third floor,” Tim rolled his eyes. “Not the one from last night, that was the girl who kept calling him Daddy. I think she was from the sorority house.”
“I don’t think I could live in that room,” Kon said, wrinkling his nose, which brought out his few freckles. “I mean, who knows what they do and where they do it.”
“Yeah, I’m not a big fan of it either,” Tim said as they got to the third floor and headed down the hall.
“Bart’s at a study group at the library and then he’s going for his evening run,” Kon explained as he opened his door and let Tim in. “So it’s just the two of us.”
“Okay,” Tim shrugged, leaning his board against the wall by the door and kicking his shoes off. “You want to go over the homework for class?”
“Not really,” Kon scrunched up his face again as he flopped onto his bed. Tim smiled at him as he took off his backpack and set it beside the armchair. It was a really ugly green color, but it was better than a floor.
“Well what would you like to do?” Tim asked, sitting down himself.
“Rematch?” Kon asked, grabbing his X-box controller off of his dresser. Tim laughed, reaching for the one on Bart’s bed.
“You’re on.”
*****
The two of them had played games for a few hours, Tim still coming out victorious because he was usually better at the strategy games while Kon was better at the racing games.
“Let’s do something I can beat you at,” Kon said, setting his controller aside.
“I’m really not up for a racing game,” Tim shook his head. He and Bart had decided to power through every race on Mario Kart in one go last Saturday, and that was probably not a good idea because he had vivid dreams of driving on every version of Rainbow Road.
“It’s been a while since we played poker,” Kon said, going to grab the deck of cards off of his messy desk.
“Okay,” Tim nodded, patting down his pockets for his wallet. They were empty. “Wait, shit.”
“What’s wrong?” Kon asked, furrowing his brows as he unwrapped the rubber band around the cards.
“I don’t have my wallet,” Tim said, opening his backpack and digging through it just in case, but he came up empty.
“We don’t have to play for money this time,” Kon shrugged. “We’ve got like four kinds of gold fish we could use as chips.”
“I might still have my uno cards in here,” Tim said, digging through his bag again. He wasn’t keen on using food as currency because they always forgot what was what, and one of the three of them always started eating their pile without realizing it. Usually Bart.
“Or we could use something else,” Kon said, and Tim turned at that tone. Kon usually only used that tone when he had a bad idea. Tim raised a brow at him. “We could play strip poker.”
“Strip poker?” Tim asked, his face heating up at the thought. “Um.”
“No, that was stupid, forget I suggested it-“
“No,” Tim said, and Kon’s eyes widened, “No, I-I mean, strip poker is fine. Just unexpected is all.”
“O-okay,” Kon nodded, sitting down on the floor by his bed, shuffling the cards in his hands. Tim sat down, leaning back against Bart’s bed. “You sure?”
“Yeah,” Tim nodded, picking up the cards he was dealt.
The first hand he took, which was kind of really exciting except Kon took off his bracelet. But the second hand was also his, and Kon took off his necklace, meaning he only had actual clothes left.
But then Tim lost a hand and unzipped his hoodie, tossing it in the direction of his backpack.
“Well played,” Kon said, throwing him a wink.
Hands kept getting played, and it was Kon’s flannel, then Tim’s socks and jeans, then Kon’s shirt. They were both getting down to the bare minimum, quite literally. Tim could see the band from Kon’s underwear sticking out of his jeans, and he felt really self-conscious in his boxers and t-shirt.
Especially after seeing Kon’s abs and arms. Those alone made him hot.
“Full house,” Kon said, setting his cards down, and Tim scowled because he couldn’t beat that.
“Dammit,” He said. He really didn’t want to take his shirt off because he was pale and awkward, but obviously he didn’t want to take off his boxers-
“You’re forgetting something,” Kon said with a chuckle.
“What am I forgetting?” Tim asked, raising a brow. Kon crawled forward, and Tim got a whiff of his cologne and a closer look at his pecs which was, just, wow. Then Kon was reaching up and sliding the beanie on his head back until Tim could feel it moving through his hair.
“Your hat,” Kon said softly, eyes falling to meet Tim’s, hand still holding the hat against the back of his head.
“Oh,” Tim mumbled, and he glanced at Kon’s lips.
And oh God, Kon was leaning closer.
“Sorry I’m late.”
The two turned to see Bart standing in the open doorway, key still in the door and staring at them, wide-eyes.
“Oh, uh, sorry,” He sputtered, glancing between the two of them. “Uh, I forgot my key at the library, be back in like ten minutes. Or like, 20. I’ll knock when I get back.”
Bart pulled his key out of the door, seeming to realize he just gave the worst excuse to leave but ran off anyways, letting the door shut with a loud ‘thud.’
Kon sat back first, resting his hands on his thighs as he struggled to not laugh. Tim covered his face as it burned, realizing that Kon still had his hat in his hand.
“Well, I think we’ll have some questions to answer in 20 or so minutes,” Kon laughed, and Tim kicked a foot out at him.
“So not funny,” Tim argued, and Kon scooted over to sit beside him, moving his hands out of the way.
“No, hey,” Kon said, grasping one of his hands. “Sorry, I’m not laughing at you.”
“So, uh, this is the part where we talk now, right?” Tim asked.
“Tim, I’ve had a huge crush on you for like, forever,” Kon said, squeezing his hand. “Sorry I suggested strip poker, that was probably a real dick move.”
“No, no,” Tim shook his head. “I have a crush on you too.”
“Really?” Kon asked, sitting up straighter.
“Yeah,” Tim nodded with a smile. “I just didn’t want to tell you because you’re my best friend and-“
Kon leaned in and gave him a quick kiss.
“I know,” Kon nodded. “Me too.”
“No, do that again,” Tim said, bringing his free hand up to cradle Kon’s chin as he leaned in for another kiss, this one slower and longer and softer and hotter.
“We’ve got like 18 minutes,” Kon said, and Tim laughed as he leaned in again.

TimKon Week III - Power Swap
It all started, of course, with Klarion the Witch Boy. Because, really, anytime they had to deal with insane magic mumbo jumbo, Klarion was usually the responsible party.
Usually. Occasionally, it was Raven, possessed by her demonic half for the umptienth time. Or Circe, who decided she wanted to troll Wonder Woman's protege instead of Wonder Woman herself. Or, occasionally, Bedlam somehow acquiring yet another magical artificial to use against them.
On one notable incident, Johnny Warlock had made a return from… Wherever he'd been hiding, really, just to troll them.
Which, honestly, seemed to be the common trait with magic wielding villains, Tim concluded. Most of them were just goddamn trolls. Just ask Superman and his recurring problem with Mister Mxyzptkl.
Young Justice had been called forth to deal with Klarion, because, as usual, Klarion was causing problems. Not that they were doing much good, really. Cassie and Keli kept flying back and forth trying to get the animals back to their cages whilst Tim, Jinny and Bart were cordoning off civilians. Tim wasn't entirely sure where Amaya had run off too, but she was around here somewhere.
Conner was currently... Attempting negotiations.
High above the rest of the ruckus, Conner floated next to Klarion, who was sitting criss cross applesauce upon… Nothing, really, with his arms crossed and his head tossed the side, stubbornness screaming from his posture.
"Klarion, buddy, you have to turn them back," Conner told the super powered toddler.
Klarion pouted.
"But I don't wanna! They're so cool!" Klarion insisted.
Leave it to Klarion to give half the zoo animal wings and unleash them on the city. Because that's just what Tim's day needed when he had to prep for midterms. Flying lions chasing flying monkeys while flying hyenas kept floating about everywhere cackling like mad.
"I promise I'll play a game with you if you stop," Conner bargained.
Tim wasn't sure when Conner ended up their go to talk to the kid guy, but that's just how things had turned out. Bart used to be their guy for that, but, well…
Everytime they designated the task to him he'd end up getting roped into whatever shenanigans were occurring at the time and make the issue twelve times worse, on average.
Klarion eyed Conner suspiciously.
"I don't believe you," Klarion sniffed.
This time, it was Conner who pouted. Tim was dating a five year old.
(Well… Chronologically speaking, if you get technical)
"Ah, come on kid, when have I ever lied to you?"
Indeed, Tim's fiancé had played with Klarion on numerous occasions. Tim knew for a fact Conner wanted children. Conner had made it clear on several occasions.
Tim was surprised that the property Conner had in Hawaii wasn't already filled with kids Conner had found, actually. Conner didn't exactly use it much, but he did own land there.
(Tim was still wondering how in the hell a one year old, by legal definition, had managed to buy a plot of land complete with several dozen cabins, but that was Conner for you.)
Klarion considered Conner's words before a wide smile splayed across his lips.
"Okay! I'll stop playing with the pretty animals! I'll play with you instead!"
That, honestly, should have been their first warning. The next thing Tim knew, Klarion was cackling, clapping his hands while smiling widely.
Then, there was a bright flash of blinding light. Wincing, Tim couldn't help but look away.
When the light cleared, the animals had all been shifted back and transferred to their cages, and Conner hollered, rubbing at his eyes while Klarion, the little shit, chortled.
"Yay! Kon is gonna play!" Klarion giggled.
Conner rubbed at his eyes before squinting at the Witch Boy. "Of course I am. What do you wanna do, little guy?"
Klarion giggled some more.
"Silly Kon. We're already playing, and you're the plaything!"
Conner wasn't alone in shooting the Witch Boy an alarmed look. Before any of them could respond, Klarion vanished in a flurry of light.
O… Kay? Nothing seemed different, so maybe Klarion had just been bluffing?
The rest is on Ao3 :p (since my read mores only half work cause Tumblr doesn't like me for some reason)

TimKon Week Day 1 - Bed Sharing

I Didn’t Ask For This
TimKon, Bed Sharing/Only One Bed, Kissing, Fluff.
Summary: Tim had asked for a room with two beds in it, not one, but two. The room before him had only one large double bed in the middle of the room against the wall. It's pretty easy to say that Tim was not amused or pleased in the slightest.
A/N: I've done this fic for day one of TimKon week 2019. The prompts were Fantasy Au or Only One bed/bed sharing. I (obviously) went with bed sharing.
Enjoy! :D
"Are you being fucking serious?"
Tim stands in the doorway glaring at the empty room in front of him, seething with quiet resentment. He had asked the person at the desk for a room with two beds, not one but two. The room before them was simply a large box room, plain paper covers the walls, a stingy red carpet layers the floor and there was one large double bed in the middle of the room against the wall.
Tim was not amused or pleased in the slightest.
His best friend on the other hand thought it was pretty amusing as Tim could hear him snickering from behind. Tim turns around and glares at him. "This isn't funny Kon!"
Kon snorts and roughly pats his back before moving into the room. Tim watches as he takes in the room for what it's worth. Kon turns back to him and shrugs, "I don't see what the big deal is Tim. It's not like we haven't shared before. We're friends aren't we and it's only for one night until we get back on the road again tomorrow."
Tim opens his mouth to protest but before he could say anything, Kon was holding up a finger at him and giving him a stern look. "And no. There's no way you could have carried on driving right throughout the night dude. You need a break from driving and I need to stretch out my legs. I'm not willing to drive throughout the night just for the sake of us to keep moving."
Rolling his eyes Tim enters the room, closing the door behind him as he goes. He goes over to the bed and dumps his duffle bag and suitcase on it before giving Kon a pointed look. "No it's not a problem, it's just that I didn't get what I asked for. Also I would have been fine to drive throughout the night thank you very much."
Kon makes a humming noise as he goes over to check out their bathroom, Tim follows behind him and looks into the small compact bathroom they have adjoined to their room. It was tiny, barely managing to fit in a toilet, a sink and a shower. Tim makes a disapproving noise, he frowns and moves away heading back for the door.
"I'll be back," he tells Kon over his shoulder. "I'm going to see if they'd actually give us a proper twin room rather than this crap."
They will in fact not give them a twin room no matter how much Tim argues against it. In the end he had to resign the argument and give in because the person working behind the counter ended up threatening to kick him out if he didn't take the room they had originally issued him. That would be completely counterproductive to what he was trying to do (though he was tempted to carry on the argument just so that would happen, then that way he and Kon wouldn't have to share a goddamn bed together.)
He didn't have an issue in sharing a bed with someone. That wasn't the problem. The actual problem was that he was going to be sharing it with Kon of all people. His best friend and crush of nearly two years. Yes they had in fact shared a bed before but that as before Tim developed feelings of the romantic kind for his best friend.
He goes back to the room and as he opens the door Kon looks at him with a raised eyebrow in question. Tim just scowls at him and slams the door shut which causes Kon to snicker from where he was now sat on the bed on his phone.
"Did you get a room change?" Kon asks, damn well knowing the answer already.
Tim carries on glaring at him even as he goes over to his duffle bag and gets his laptop out and turns it on to get started on some work. He moves his bag and suitcase to the floor and sits crossed-legged opposite Kon. Doing some work will help keep his mind off their current predicament.
"So how long do you reckon we have left on the road?" Kon asks still playing on his phone.
Tim glances at him before answering, "I'd say another four maybe five days give or take. It would be three if we travel through the night..."
Kon rolls his eyes, "We're not traveling through the night like we have done for the last three nights. Get that through your thick skull dude."
Tim grumbles in response, "I wish you had your powers still, then we wouldn't be in this situation in the first place."
"Well I'm not particularly pleased about this either man, you think I want to be powerless? You think it was my choice that I got zapped by the stupid magician who decided that I wouldn't need my powers for like a month! We just have to suck it up and continue with this mini road trip we for some reason decided to do until we get back to the Tower and get myself checked out."
Tim doesn't respond to that, mostly because he doesn't have an answer. He continues on his laptop and focuses on getting his work done and not how close in proximity Kon is too him on the bed they have to share.
Later on Kon leaves and gets them some food. Just some Indian that was near by the motel they have pulled into for the night. They eat that in silence and the entire time Tim stays on his laptop.
It wasn't until around midnight that Kon gets off the bed, stretches (Tim fails spectacularly at not staring at the bit of skin on Kon's stomach that shows when his t-shirt rises) and yawns.
"Dude, I'm beat. I'm calling it a night." When Tim doesn't respond to him Kon huffs and makes a move towards the bathroom.
Kon comes out of the bathroom in nothing but his boxers and Tim has to restrain himself from staring at Kon's body. He stops himself from watching the way Kon's muscles move underneath his skin as he walks around and as he stretches, he ignores the heat rising up inside of him and how it's slowly turning to arousal.
Without any words Kon climbs back onto the bed and gets underneath the covers, he shifts around a bit before moving into a position where he can stare at Tim. Tim feels his best friend's eyes on him for a long time before finally pulling away from the screen of his laptop to pay Kon some attention.
"What?" He questions.
"I'm pretty sure that me going to bed was a pretty big hint at something Tim."
Tim blankly stares at him before wordlessly moving off the bed and going to switch the room's light off. Darkness immediately swamps all of the room except for the little bit of light coming from Tim's computer. Instead of climbing back on the bed, Tim takes his laptop and sits in the corner of the room on the floor as the room has no other furniture in it and resumes his work.
For several minutes he could feel Kon still staring at him, but his friend must grow bored because Tim hears him shifting around until he seems to find a comfortable position and settles down.
He loses track of time after that, getting so engrossed in what he was working on that he completely misses Kon moving off the bed and approaching him until it was too late. The screen of his laptop gets slammed down, just narrowly missing his fingers, and taken away and then suddenly he’s being thrown over a shoulder and taken to the bed. His body bounces as it hits the mattress and before he could get his bearings an arm was wrapping around his waist and dragging him backwards until he hits something solid.
Tim squirms as Kon lays the blanket over them with his free hand. “What the hell Kon?” He demands trying to push his friend’s hand off of him.
Tim nearly gets free but then Kon’s grip tightens and a leg was hooking over his hips, pinning him more to the mattress underneath them. He huffs in annoyance.
“Dude it’s nearly four a.m. now. You need sleep.”
“I’m fine.”
“Sure you are.”
“Kon!”
When he doesn’t respond Tim reaches back and smacks him. He gets a hiss of pain in response but nothing else. Right, Kon doesn’t have his powers, meaning no super strength, no TTK, no super hearing.
“If you don’t let me go I’ll nerve strike you and knock you out.” Tim threatens him.
The arm around him only tightens and Tim tries really hard to not think about the solid body he’s pressed against, tries to not think about the heat radiating from him. “Well that’s rude.” Kon comments.
“Kon I mean it, let me go.”
The arm and leg around him suddenly disappear and behind him Kon is shifting about. He can’t see it but he knows that Kon is perched up on one elbow and was looking at him. The angry tone in his voice tells Tim that his friend is both glaring and scowling at him. “Okay what the hell is your problem Tim? Why don’t you really want to share a bed with me? Is it the sharing part that you don’t like? Am I the problem here?”
“No it’s-”
“Am I really that bad of a person that you don’t want to share with me? I mean we’ve shared before so why is this any different? This is what we have, so deal with it.”
Tim scowls into the darkness, annoyed at the situation. He rubs a hand against his forehead trying to work out what the hell he can tell Kon to explain his actions other than the words ‘I’m in love with you and sleeping right next to you is really not helping in keeping little Tim in check’.
He takes too long to answer because his best friend is then huffing, smacking him on the shoulder and demanding, “Answer me dude.”
“I don’t know!” Tim blurts out almost desperately. He sits up on the bed and buries his face in his hands.
The mattress shifts underneath him and he can tell Kon is sitting up next to him. He lets out a sigh, “Look Tim, you’re making this situation a lot harder than it needs to be. You can talk to me man, whatever is bothering you about us sharing a bed you can tell me. If you really, really, can’t share the bed with me I’ll go sleep in the car or something. But I want to know what’s up with you.”
Tim takes a few deep breathes trying to compose himself before lifting his face up and looking in Kon’s direction. He can’t lie to Kon. That’s something he learnt a long time ago. His best friend knows him too well and even without his powers Kon would be able to tell that Tim was bullshitting on whatever he’s going to say.
In the end he makes a split decision, one that he knows he’s going to regret immediately and does it anyway. He reaches forward and searches for Kon’s face, he hits his shoulders first and then moves so he’s cupping Kon’s cheeks with his hands.
“Uh Tim, what are you-”
Tim doesn’t give him a chance to finish because he’s leaning forward and pressing his lips to Kon’s in a kiss. He goes rigid when Kon’s lips stay lax underneath his and he clenches his eyes tight, mentally preparing himself for the disgusted outburst.
However he lets out a shocked noise when Kon starts kissing him back. Kon’s lax lips now moving against his. Tim feels his hands latch onto his neck and the way his fingers bury into his hair, they force his head to the side and Kon instantly deepens the kiss.
They kiss for what feels like hours until Tim gathers enough willpower and pulls away from Kon. Tim blinks at Kon through the dark completely bewildered by what had just happened. He had kissed Kon. Kon had kissed him back. Kon didn’t push him away and didn’t angrily yell at him. They had kissed.
“Uh, that’s why I didn’t want to share a bed.” Tim comments some time later, breaking the silence they had fallen into. He clears his throat awkwardly and was super glad they were sat in the dark because it’s stopping Kon from seeing how blushed he was. “I uh, I’m insanely attracted to you Kon and sleeping right next to you was doing nothing in helping me in controlling my emotions. Being in a car with you 24/7 was already driving me -heh- insane but sleeping next to you in a bed. That’s beyond what I imagined.”
He knows he’s rambling but he couldn’t stop himself from doing so until he ran out of breath to actually talk with.
Kon doesn’t say anything for a long time until he’s letting out a laugh and gripping Tim’s face tightly. “Jesus, that was a lot better than what I was imagining dude. I thought you suddenly hated me or something. Why didn’t tell me about this?”
Tim draws back frowning, “And risk our friendship? No thanks.”
Kon laughs and moves his hands onto Tim’s body. Tim allows him (this time) to manhandle him around so they’re spooning once again on the mattress. Tim feels a lot more content this time than last. He reaches behind him and grabs Kon’s hand, pulling his arm over his waist and holding his hand with his own.
“So, the fact that you kissed me back means something right? I mean we have a lot to talk about if this is going to go anywhere.”
Behind him Kon snorts, “Sure Tim, sure. You’re the world’s second greatest detective for nothing huh?” Tim pinches his hand hard which gets him a hiss of pain in return. “Okay, ow, that hurt. I’m sorry but yes, I would like to take this further and we do need to talk about it later on. I assume you’re now happy to sleep next to me right?”
Tim hums tiredly, feeling the exhaustion suddenly creeping up on him. He holds Kon’s hand tightly against his chest and smiles contentedly when he feels Kon press a kiss to his temple, okay, that’s something he thinks he would love to get used to.
“Night Tim.”
“Night Kon.”

TimKon Day 5 – Historical AU
Gaze upon the result of me volunteering at a Medieval Festival for three weeks. We all should have known this was coming.
Warnings: mpreg, omegaverse (but like in the form of 3 lines of reference that can be disregarded)
AO3: https://archiveofourown.org/works/20039194/chapters/47554390
Tim should probably feel more anxious.
They’re waiting for the arrival of visiting delegacies that will include his future mate and husband. He should definitively feel more anxious.
And don’t get him wrong he does feel anxious. This is his future he’s talking about. But he trusts Bruce’s judgement. Dick, at least, seems more than happy with his marriage to Wally. Enough evidence really that Bruce’s judgement is sound.
Plus, Tim cannot fault the strategic advantages of a union between them and Krypton. A powerful ally that’s allegiance can only be bolstered through marriage. In the times they live in that cannot be understated.
King Clark, at least, seemed nice the times Tim had met him in the past when the man had visited Bruce to discuss matters of politics. There is no reason to doubt that his son will be much different.
So Tim has donned his best outfit and joined his family in waiting for the arrival of the main party following the messenger that had been sent ahead to inform them of the impending arrival.
“Nervous?” Dick asks, because Tim’s sure he expects him to be.
“No.” Not as much as he could be. As he should be.
“I’m sure it will be fine,” Dick says with a reassuring smile before turning his attention back to his mate. Calming Lord Wally’s obvious discomfort at Dick being on his feet for so long despite pregnant.
They’re a good match. One Bruce clearly put time into thinking over.
Tim doesn’t doubt that similar time was put into his own.
The sound of the approaching procession pulls Tim out of his musings. He stands straighter to give a better first impression and feels Bruce do the same next to him.
It’s easy to spot the Kryptonian Royal family. Four dark-haired horses ridden by those wearing expensive red-fabric. Tim is pretty sure he knows which member is to be his spouse but lacks the clear view to really make an appraisal yet.
“Bruce,” Clark says as he gets off his horse, his arms open wide with the clear expectation of a greeting-hug from Bruce while the rest of his family dismount.
Bruce looks reluctant but does hug back.
There is no reluctance on Dick’s part when Clark turns his attention, and hug, onto him.
“It’s been too long,” Clark says as he and Dick part. “And you’ve gotten so big.”
“Some of it is baby,” Dick says with a not-at-all subtle rub at his stomach.
King Clark just grins at it.
“Congratulations! And congratulations to you too Bruce.” The words bring on another round of endured hugs on Bruce’s part that have Jason snorting from behind them.
“You’ve grown as well Timothy,” King Clark says, his attention finally turning onto Tim. Tim bows his head at it in respect.
“Thank you your highness.”
“If we’re going to be family no ‘highness’ alright?” King Clark says in the tone of voice of his that seems to radiate calm.
“Alright.”
Clark gives a little grin at it before standing at his full height.
“Kon, Jon, come here please,” he says. The boys apparently dragging their feet to settle the horses despite Lady Lois being up to giving Bruce her own embracing greeting.
The two young alphas hurry over at their father’s command and Tim is struck first by how much they both look identical to their father. Even with the gap between all their ages there is no denying that they are related – almost three snap-shots of the same person’s growth.
There also isn’t any denying which one is Conner.
Tim has no shame in his rapid assessing of him – this is to be his mate and husband after all.
Conner is slighter than Tim expected. The alpha having not grown into his father’s bulk, or perhaps not inheriting it. He looks just as uncertain about being there as Tim should likely feel – head bowed slightly despite the firm lock of his jaw.
“I present my two sons – Lords Conner and Jonathan,” Clark says formally.
“And I present mine – Lords Richard, Jason, Timothy, Damian, my daughter, Lady Cassandra, and Lord Richard’s mate and husband, Lord Wallace,” Bruce says gesturing to them all as needed.
Conner’s eyes glance up to Tim when his name is mentioned before darting off again.
And then an awkward nothing falls over them. They all know this meeting and the trip is about the marriage but nobody seems to want to broach it. Tim would to just get it over with but he isn’t allowed to until one of the Family Heads do.
“May I suggest we all come inside and settle in before the formal conversations begin?” Alfred says from where he stands to the side of the Wayne Family. “If only so Lord Wallace doesn’t faint over Lord Richard standing much longer.”
“Of course Alfred,” Bruce says and gestures inside. A silent command they all follow.
There’s a level of relief in not being stuck formally standing for greeting and Tim isn’t the only one who feels it. Dick quickly gravitates away from his spot at Bruce’s side and over to Lady Lois – likely to talk about the excitement and nerves of a first pregnancy. Bruce and King Clark falling into easy conversation about their kingdoms and the trials of being in charge.
Tim’s a little surprised that Conner slips to his side.
“Hey,” Conner says with an obviously awkwardly forced smile.
“Hi,” Tim returns because he has been given no reason not to be polite.
“I’m Kon.” Not Conner, Kon. At least Tim won’t be stuck in rigid formality.
“Tim.”
“So, uh, Dad says we’re staying a while because King Bruce doesn’t want to rush anything so we should be able to get to know each other before anything happens.”
“That’s good.” Dick and Wally hadn’t been given the same treatment but Tim figures they had already known each other well before their arranged engagement.
“Yeah it is,” Kon says, “also apparently they’re hoping our younger brothers become friends or something.”
“Are you the family gossip?” Tim can’t help but ask. Although he regrets it in how Kon shrinks a bit at it.
“Uh, maybe, what about you?”
“That’s more Dick’s area,” Tim says because Dick is the one that actually seems to know what everyone is up to as much as Bruce would like to believe he is. Although, he decides- what the hell. “Apparently Lord Wally has a cousin about our age he’s having sent over because he thinks we’ll be a good influence or something.”
“Yeah?” Kon says with a grin. “That has to be more than you than, because I do not have the reputation of a good influence. Uh, not that I’m bad or anything, just, I guess rebellious is what they say.”
“Don’t worry – they say that about me too.” And if it’s true that Conner is as well this might work out even better than Tim expected.

Historical AU: A Dream in my Eye and a Prayer in my Heart
Stephanie passed Tim a drink, ignoring the really drunk man at the end of the bar who was trying to make a pass at her. If he knew what was good for him, he wouldn’t be hitting on Jason’s girl.
“You been in here every night,” Stephanie said, waving at someone over by the piano. Probably Jason. “He due home soon?”
“Shh,” Tim hushed her, glancing around. Just because they didn’t have a law against it, that didn’t mean one of the other townsfolk would toss him in the river. And without Conner around, he wasn’t the strongest if he was ganged up on. “It’s been four months since they left.”
“Yer as purdy as a little red heifer,” The man at the end of the bar slurred.
“Jason!” Stephanie called, and the man stalked over, raising a brow at her. “Tromp his britches and get him outta here.”
Jason grabbed the back of the mans shirt and started pulling him out of the saloon while Tim and Stephanie let out a laugh.
“Look, Drake, just because you’re missing his Johnson don’t mean you gotta come in here and get plumb drunk and jawin’ me ta death,” Stephanie said, grabbing the man’s empty glass from the bar and wiping it out with her rag. “Go back to the ranch, ya got some things to take care of before he comes home.”
“Stephanie,” Tim hissed, glancing around the bar. It was mostly empty, a few guys at one of the tables, but the town was small and with no women in town except Steph, they didn’t go out to the saloon much until late.
“He’ll probably want to shag as soon as he gets home,” Jason said as he strode over and sat on one of the bar stools. “Best get that house ready.”
“Hesh up, you two, it ain’t like that,” Tim scowled down at his drink.
“Tim, we ain’t tryin’ ta rile ya up,” Jason said, and Tim sighed.
“Yeah, we’re your friends,” Stephanie added. “Just lookin’ out for ya. Them cowpoke’ll be back in town before ya know it. And then you’ll be back to yerself and having fun instead of sitting in here gettin’ drunk.”
“It’s just startin’ to get colder,” Tim mumbled. “At night, I’ve got to use a few blankets to stay warm. He ain’t got a lot out there, he could be freezin’.”
“Honey, how many drives has Conner been on?” Stephanie asked, leaning over the bar. Tim thought, his head swimming a bit with the whiskey.
“Dozen or so,” Tim admitted. He’d gone on one or two every year since he was 15, back when their town was just dirt and a ranch.
“And how many times has he come back?” Jason asked.
“All of ‘em,” Tim sighed. “But last time he was sicker’n a dog for days. He ain’t what he used to be. One of these times he ain’t comin’ back.”
“What a downer,” Jason shook his head. “I ain’t gotta toss you our on yer ass, do I?”
“No, I’m goin’,” Tim shook his head, downing the rest of his drink and slamming the glass down on the bar. “You two comin’ by in the morning?”
“Sure am,” Stephanie nodded. “Someone’s gotta take care’a ya’ while your cowboy’s away.”
*****
Tim was barely awake when he heard someone moving around in the house, and he panicked for a moment before he remembered that it was just Stephanie and Jason.
When the three of them took off for the west as kids, it was just because they had no more family and nowhere to go. And they showed up in town with a horse and little else.
But then Tim met Conner, both 15 at the time, on his way out. Said he and his dad were going on a drive and someone had to watch their ranch, offered to let the three of them stay so long as they didn’t steel anything.
Right from the start, Conner put all his trust in Tim.
Then somewhere in the last 10 or so years, Jason and Stephanie built their own place, the saloon, and started living above it. Stephanie was the only woman in town, except those passing through occasionally, and Jason took a lot of pride saying that she was his girl. They never married, and really never planned it either. Steph always said she wasn’t a wife, and she wouldn’t be treated like one.
So once he was left to himself, Tim took care of the ranch, and spent time with Conner, now alone that his father had died. They were just two men looking over the cattle, tending their horses, and Tim started working at the bank in town.
And before he knew it, Conner was gone on another drive and his chest ached, like it never had before. It was like someone had torn his heart out and left it in the dust. He had never felt happier than when he saw the gang riding back into town through the bank window, and Tim left his post to greet them.
Sure, Conner smelled atrocious, and he looked like he’d fallen in a river, but Tim was still thrilled to see him. When he got home from work that evening, Conner freshly bathed and waiting up, they made the most passionate love together, something inside them snapping and feeling alive.
And Tim felt that way every day they woke up together, and he felt empty again every time Conner was gone.
“You’re not still in bed, are ya?”
Tim opened his eyes and saw Jason standing in the doorway, smirk on his face.
“Go away,” Tim groaned, pulling one of his blankets over his head.
“Not a chance, Tim,” Jason laughed, and Tim huffed as he got out of bed. “Steph whipped up some breakfast for ya. Best go eat, before it gets cold.”
“Go to hell,” Tim said as he passed Jason on the way out of the bedroom to the kitchen. Jason laughed behind him.
*****
Tim was feeding his horse, and Jason was trying to fix the porch. One of the boards had busted when Tim tripped on his way home last week, and he hadn’t had the chance to fix it.
Conner usually did the fixing while he was home.
“Hey, Tim!” Steph called from the porch, bucket of water in her arms. “I reckon someone’s headed this way.”
Tim turned and looked towards town, hardly visible from the ranch, but there was a horse galloping towards them.
A beautiful white horse that Tim would know anywhere.
Tim’s face broke out in a grin, and he started running in his bare feet, the dirt hot but he didn’t care.
Conner got to him in no time, stopping his horse and hopping off to catch Tim in his arms.
“Yer a sight for sore eyes,” Conner said, keeping a grip on Tim’s backside so he wouldn’t fall.
“I could say the same,” Tim mumbled.
“Missed ya somethin’ awful, Honey,” Conner whispered, tightening his grip on the man. “Think you can wait for me to run a bath?”
“Hardly,” Tim chuckled, letting his feet down until he was standing again.
*****
Jason and Stephanie had left not long after the two got back to the ranch, neither wanting to interrupt their reunion, plus they had a saloon to open. Tim promised they’d be up later to celebrate.
But before they could do that, they had to celebrate alone.
“I don’t think I could tell ya how much I thought about doin’ that while we were on the drive,” Conner said as he walked up behind Tim, putting his hands on his hips and kissing his neck. Tim was trying to make Conner something for lunch, since all he’d had for months was food cooked by Bart.
“At least let me feed you before you go riling me up again,” Tim moaned, tilting his head to the side to give Conner better access.
“I don’t need ta eat,” Conner mumbled into his neck. “Need you.”
“Conner,” Tim groaned. “Food first. You need it. You’re skinner than when you left.”
“Alright,” Conner sighed in defeat, taking the plate and heading for the table. He paused and gave Tim a kiss on the cheek as a thanks. “Love you, Honey.”
