I'm trying to catch up with all the BL news I missed (which apparently was quite a lot) so I thought I'd make a quick post about it to put my thoughts in order:
youtube
First up is the trailer for The Renovation, a two-episode series about a writer, Pee, who turns his blossoming romance with holiday resort owner Arthit into the plot for his new novel (which goes over about exactly as well as you might expect). This drops on 14 & 21 December on One31 (so no official inter release yet).
youtube
Then there's a teaser for Rearrange, a high school band BL with a time travel twist and a what looks to be a GL side couple. And apparently the bad boy bassist and the nerdy drummer get together too which is exactly how things should be.
Next up, Boxer the Series (which is not the same as Boxer in Heart - another BL that was quietly cancelled in pre-production) have announced their cast with some familiar faces: Time Obnithi (The Whisperer, Bad Guy My Boss), Team Tatchanon (Twins), David Matthew Roberts (The Hidden Moon), Beboy Nanthakorn (who hopefully finally escaped from 9NAA) & Guide Piyawat (will be in The Hell Guard).
2025 might finally be the year of Muay Thai BL. 🤞
I have no idea if Hidden is a BL but it stars Tong Thanayut (as Kris) and it will release on youtube on 3 December. The plot certainly sounds intriguing (and messy):
On the night of Ten's birthday party, Ten, Kris, Pheem, and Prao find out about someone hiring Korn to secretly take pictures of Pheem. To figure out the truth, Kris and Pheem decide to hire Korn to take pictures at Ten's birthday party.
Director Golf Tanwarin's next series Love Like a Bike will apparently be exactly that: lots of couples and lots of bikes - and I most definitely appreciate it.
The series will star Masu Junyangdikul (who's kind of a big deal but it's his first BL role afaik) and Tee Thanapon (2 Moons, Triage), Win Thanat and Danny Luciano (The Loyal Pin), and Ta Nannakun (Kinnporsche, DFF) and Nanon Ruangdet (I love how everyone just copied the hashtags and I had to go on a whole google journey to find out their names).
The series is set around Nueng, a psychiatrist (a psychiatrist? in my BL??), and Sailom, a student suffering from a fear of being touched (played by Masu & Tee).
And then finally there's Eyes on You, a co-production between Hong Kong and Thailand (but filmed in Bangkok with a Thai cast) whose pilot will be unveiled on 27 November.
The plot summary on MDL sounds amazing tbh:
Two years ago, Just abandoned his law studies and severed ties with Rule to uncover the truth behind his parents' murder. Two years later, Rule, now a lawyer and still haunted by Just's disappearance, finally tracks him down to a seedy Gogo Bar, only to find him embroiled in a deadly feud with the Kung gang. But Just isn't alone. The bar is a haven for those consumed by vengeance: Salt, the security guard who always has a bloody smell, the runaway teen Tiger, and Ice, the ruthless madam running sexual business for the gang. Each carries the scent of violence, a simmering powder keg waiting to explode. Are you ready to descend into their dark, bloody, and tear-soaked path to retribution?
And that's it - except for the ThamePo trailer which everyone but me has already watched (I'll get to it right after posting this).
#bl news#upcoming bl#thai bl#renovation the series#rearrange the series#boxer the series#love like a bike#hidden the series#eyes on you the series#jane watches stuff#ok this post is longer than anticipated#apparently all the bl news dropped while i was gone for 2 1/2 days#maybe they all wanted to announce their projects before the gmmtv line-up

WANDEE GOODDAY – PAPA PHADETSEUK
👀 Guys, they didn't just get some random actor to play Yoryak and Oyei's dad!
They got an ACTUAL MUAY THAI BOXING LEGEND, Samart Payakaroon. 🤩
Here's what My Drama List has to say about him:
He is considered by many to be the greatest Muay Thai boxer of all time, becoming a world champion in both Muay Thai and in Boxing.
Also known as The Jade-Faced Tiger or The Baby-Faced Tiger, Khun Samart also acted in films and dramas both during and after his career in the ring. And he was actually quite BL-pretty in his youth too:
(above) A young Samart Payakaroon (source: linked here)
A number of the boxing extras at the Phadetseuk gym are apparently also Muay Thai boxers IRL. Talk about apt casting choices! 🤩

You don't know how much I want this character. You don't understand but I just gotta ask
Is This ATSV Character Thai?
aka a crash course in Thai tattooing and Buddhist tradition
Please correct me if I'm wrong - but I was really interested in her tattoo.
And looking at the tattoo they singled out beside her - it made me question:
Is that a Traditional Thai tattoo? Is that supposed to be Sak Yant?
And immediately I saw the opportunity to infodump about Buddhism and Thai cultural tattooing! (And my personal experience with it)
It makes me think that maybe this character was meant to me Thai - because her tiger tattoo resembles the twin tiger Sak Yant tattoo.
If you're unaware, Sak Yant is a type of traumatic tattoo native to Thailand.
Connected deeply to the Buddhist faith, Sak Yant tattoos are specific designs that are claimed to have spiritual power.
Typically done with a traditional needle and stick rather than a machine, Sak Yants are tattooed by a Thai Buddhist teacher, an Ajarn.
Each Sak Yant design grants the wearer fortune, protection, or a virtue relating to a Buddhist value.
Each Yant comes with conditions though.
In order to preserve the spiritual power of the tattoo, the wearer just act in accordance to certain standards of Buddhist teaching - simple things like no murder, no adultery/cheating, no lying, etc.
They say if you do these things, your Yant becomes useless over time.
Many Muay Thai fighters have many Sak Yants, typically for protection - which could be the reason she's wearing herself.
However, that doesn't necessarily mean that she's Thai - for one, the tattoo might not be a Sak Yant.
It doesn't exactly match a true Sak Yant design, however, it's fairly close.
It seems as if the creators mixed the Suea Liaw (left) and Suea Koo Maha (right) designs, combining them to form the unique design for the character.
This would be an interesting choice.
The Twin Tigers are one of the favorites of Muay Thai, as it represents protection, power, and authority, which could be useful to sometime working a bar like her.
However, it also seems similar to the Yant 'Suea Leaw Lung' - tattoo similar to Suea Liaw - except with a raised paw, much like hers. Leaw Lung is said (grain of salt unless you're hearing from a Ajarn though) - to bring positivity and safety to those struggling in life.
So the tattoo might not be a Sak Yant - or it could be a Yant style created specifically by the creators of ATSV (as they may have wanted to avoid using a real one, as they're really hard to do unless you're an Ajarn and know the symbols and language).
And also, not everyone who gets one is Thai - though many who get it are Buddhist.
Like me!
Angelina Jolie is popular for the number of Yants she has on her back.
Angelina is in fact a Buddhist and has raised her children within the religion*.
She, like most other Buddhists, got hers done traditionally, under the hand of a Ajarn.
The one in the center of her back - is actually the one I have as well.
(Angelina's back after her 5th Yant)
Religiously, I am a Theravada Buddhist - though I more focus on the Plum Tree Tradition of Thigh Nhat Hanh.
Theravada Buddhism is the type most prevalent in South East Asia, in contrast with the Nepali and Tibetan Mahayana - which the Dhali Lama belongs to.
I got my Sak Yant done under the hand of an Arhat as well, traditional needle style about 3 years ago in Chiang Mai (Northern Thailand)
The one I have is Yant Putsoorn - the 5 Buddhas yantra.
Although there are many vague ass descriptions of what each Yant means online - my Ajarn personally told me Putsoorn is aimed at raised compassion mindfulness towards yourself and others as well - usually known as loving-kindness.
So she could be specifically Buddhist as well, if the tattoo is supposed to be Yant.
I think the idea is so so cool, because you may see traditional Japanese tattoo designs, many breathtaking , but it's rare you see other forms of traditional tattoo in day to day media!
I really really want to see her in action now! Just to see that tattoo up close. Plus she's so bad-ass!
I was SO SO SO excited to see her tattoo, and I really hope it is one! More Buddhist characters please. You can be hardcore and Buddhist too!
But does anybody have any other theories of what this tattoo could be? Do you know why traditional designs outside of Yant that this could be? Do you agree this could be Yant?
I'm curious!!
* Just a bonus: I wanted to highlight my use of the word religion in reference to Buddhism. Often in the West, Buddhism is reduced to a 'philosohy' or 'a way of life' rather than a legitimate religion. This is reductive. Buddhism is a religion, with monks, nuns, plains of existence, 'heavens' (very different context than Abrahamic - being reborn in heaven actually makes it harder to reach nirvana, because you are tempted by more comfort. Being born on Earth is the easier way to reach nirvana). Buddhism has ceremonies and centuries worth of text and practice - like Sak Yant. Although it is centered in mindfulness, acceptance, and love - and these teachings can be used by anyone regardless of religion - Buddhism is a religion. Just one far removed from the western Abrahamic understanding of religion. You can read and encorporate any of the teachings, it's very very very open. There are no borders between people, and any heart that is open or desiring it can engage with Buddhism as much or as little as they need to. But I think it's important to refer to Buddhism as a religion so the world conversation on religion isn't centered on Abrahamic, Western ideals and history - when in fact there are many loving, kind, and rich religions out there. From Hoodoo, to Sikhism, to Buddhism and beyond :)
#we NEED a Thai spider please!!!#ISN'T THIS SO COOL ISN'T IT#WE GETTING ENLIGHTENED IN HERE#For those curious I'm a ancestoral worshipper (which is common in Theravada)#Spiritually I practice Hoodoo - Religiously I am Buddhist#no proofread lolol#spiderman#atsv#spider man#marvel#across the spiderverse#beyond the Spiderverse#mauro belfiore

So you feel like learning self defense
Self-defense classes get taught pretty frequently. They're great and will teach you a lot of techniques. On the other hand, you don't practice on an ongoing basis, which is a problem for remembering and executing the techniques.
You could buy a gun and go to the shooting range. I don't know much about this except it seems like shooting guns accurately is harder than it looks. Also, I would not carry a gun unless you're prepared to actually shoot someone.
So: can I interest you in a martial art, perhaps?
I've been doing martial arts more on than off since Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon came out. I've been at my current dojo since about 2008. I've been involved in the following arts long enough to hold a rank: kyukido, judo, karate, aikido. I've taken the odd class in: taekwondo, wing chun, gong fu, BJJ (Brazilian jiu jitsu), kendo, and tai chi. Here's some advice on what to look for when finding a dojo:
* Is the space nice/clean? Are the vibes good?
* Do you feel like you're getting a sales pitch or an invitation to train? Do they require you to sign long contracts?
* Do they require that you buy a lot of gear thru them? Do they charge high test fees and require students to grade frequently? Are there young children who have become black belts?
* Do you like the instructor's style? Do you like the instructor as a person?
* Do you like your fellow students? What's the community like?
* Is the art itself interesting to learn?
* Do they treat each other with respect, including not injuring each other when training?
* Also, of course, proximity to your home and cost of classes is important.
Some dojos are very formal and some have only enough hierarchy to maintain a teaching environment. You don't have to become a paramilitary person to get something out of most of them, though. Also, to that point, some dojos get a little mystical--I have been to seminars on using acupuncture points, which I don't really believe in, and my current dojo often talks about chi in a way I don't really know how to think about, because my mind is pretty grounded in Western science. In a good teaching space, you don't have to feel like you're joining a cult or being forced to give up all your prior beliefs.
For me, whether or not I liked the instructor has always been the biggest determiner in whether or not I go to class. A good instructor will help you with what you're interested in, so even if competing is not your thing, you can still get a lot out of a taekwondo dojo when you find the right teacher.
Style: honestly, I think most martial arts are getting at basically the same objective, so this is less important. Also, you may live where there's just one or two dojos, so you get what you get. However, if you have choices, some things to think about.
* There are linear martial arts (punching and kicking, like karate and taekwondo) and circular martial arts (throws and falls, like judo and aikido). Also there's grappling, which can involve throws (but not always) and chokes and joint locks (usually). And there's tai chi. Idk what to say about that. The chi tells you what to do.
* Some martial arts are sports, like taekwondo or BJJ.
* Some martial arts are very self-defensey. There's a lot of of argument in online spaces about whether they are actually useful. I could not give a smaller fuck about this discourse.
All that said, here's my brief guide to disciplines:
I want to...
...break boards? Karate, taekwondo (TKD)
...get medals/trophies? TKD, BJJ, judo, MMA, kendo
...learn to fall? Aikido, judo
...beat the fuck out of people? Krav maga, muai Thai, possibly BJJ or TKD depending on your sensei, maybe wing chun (also lineage-depending)
...dance? Capoera
...mystical chi stuff? Tai chi
...the stuff in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon? Gong fu + a lot of visual effects
...whatever Jackie Chan does? Mostly karate, I think, except in the Drunken Master series, where he does drunken boxing. I do not think practitioners of it actually drink, but I honestly have never seen it IRL.
...Bruce Lee? Jeet Kun Do or wing chun
...learn joint locks, but also with an emphasis on deescalating situations and trying not to hurt people? Aikido
...all swords all the time? Kendo, iaido, or katori
Some martial arts do weapons. Aikido does jo (short staff) and bokken (wooden sword),sometimes knife. Karate does bo (long staff), nunchucks, and sai. TKD does many of these, plus three-section staff, kamas, and probably some others. I don't think judo does weapons. Weapons can depend on dojo/lineage.
Your size and gender shouldn't make a big difference. I am quite short and routinely throw guys a full foot taller than me. It's not about physical strength, it's about position. I think arts like aikido do a good job of teaching how to take advantage of this. My karate senseis were both short, but we never really talked about taking advantage of that.
A note about rank: it takes different amounts of time to get to black belt. In BJJ, ten years is not unusual. In TKD, it might be 2-3 years. Being a black belt means you've mastered the basics. Don't get too hung up on it.

Request (If I haven't sent this one): How about Makoto and Sakura from Street Fighter having a rival to lovers relationship with a M!S/O?
I do not believe you have. And I had a blast writing this, even if I went WAAAAAY overboard with Sakura's half.
Now! Your wish is my command!
You and Sakura met, not through any normal or socially accepted meeting.
But through a street fight that Sakura had just buttoned up after which you showed up.
Sakura, of course, was not the type to back down from a challenge, especially with someone who knew what they were doing.
Little did she know that she may have been fighting a bit above her weight class.
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
You let out a hiss of superheated air as flame ignited upon your skin.
“Muay Thai is the art of eight limbs, hard power in one of its purest forms. Now, allow me to show you why that is.”
After that, things went black for Sakura until she woke up three days later, feeling like she got run over by a semi-truck.
“Oooh-ow, ow, ow, did anyone catch the plate on that truck?” Sakura groaned as she sat up, her ribs feeling as if Ryu himself did a full power Shin Shoryuken on her.
“Kid! Are you good!” the familiar voice of a good friend, Dan Hibiki asked, the emotion clear in his voice, and when Sakura looked at him, his face as he had tears in his eyes.
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
“So you're telling me-OW! SON OF A!!! mhhm- that this new Street Fighter is a student of Sagat? THE Sagat, Emperor Of Muay Thai, one eye, pet Tiger, THAT Sagat?” Sakura asked as she had her bandages wrapped tightly by one of her friends while Dan sat outside the door.
“Yeah, that Sagat. Listen kid, this new fighter… they don’t play around. Sure, they ain’t as mean as Sagat was when he was young, but they do pack a punch as you have no doubt felt.” Dan advised, more than wary of anyone who fought like Sagat did for reasons that were obvious to those that knew the man.
“I know what you mean, what the hell did I even get hit with anyway? A bomb?” Sakura asked as she stood up, her muscles and bones being quite vocal at their displeasure with this.
“It looked like a version of Sagat’s Tiger Raid, though with much rougher technique.” a familiar, high class voice cut in from the outside.
“Karin!? What are you doing here!” Sakura exclaimed in shock.
“Come now, when would I ever miss a chance like-” Karin began to say, her signature laugh already poised and at the ready before she was cut off.
“Miss Kanzuki here has been stopping by to look in on you every day, if it wasn’t for her and her doc’s you probably would still be unconscious as opposed to up and walking around right now.” Dan stated absentmindedly, unaware of the glare the blonde was now giving him.
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
The next time Sakura saw you, came several months later, and it was in a place she least expected to find someone like you.
In a small convenience store, stocking shelves.
“YOU!?” Sakura nearly screeched when she saw you, placing bags of chips into their place on the shelves.
“Hello there Miss Kasugano. How are those ribs?” you asked as you stood to face her.
“More than ready for round two if that's what you're asking?” Sakura asked, ready and raring for a rematch.
“Tempting. Unfortunately, I must decline. I have a shift to work.” you declared simply before returning to your work.
Sakura was, understandably, left confused by this.
Wasn’t this the same person that, only a few months ago, beat her into unconsciousness for three days straight in the middle of a street?
Why in the world were they practicing restraint now!
“So, how did someone like you end up working in a place like this?” Sakura asked you as she stood with her arms crossed.
“My teacher taught me that the greatest strength and measure of a fighter is not how hard or fast they hit or the technique they do it with, but their humility, their respect to others, and their discipline. The owner treats me well, allows me access to the roof for practice, with room and board as payment for my work. In turn, I work the counter, protect the shop, and ensure that if any fights were to break out that they would be put to a stop.” you answered succinctly.
“Wait, if you are paid in room and board as opposed to money, then how do you pay for food? And Medicine after a fight?” Sakura asked.
“With my winnings.” you declared before standing and beginning to walk away.
“And what if you lose?” Sakura asked.
“I starve, and I hurt until I win again. However, I have yet to lose since arriving here. Perhaps when we next meet, you could remedy that. Sakura Kasugano.” was all you said.
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
After an invitation like that?
It was on.
Sakura started training like crazy.
She put a bag up with your picture on it, the whole nine yards.
Sure, she nearly got her head taken off by a kick in getting it but that was beside the point.
Dan, for some reason, started teasing her about a crush.
But that was ridiculous, it wasn’t as if she spent every spare minute she had training herself to beat you.
It wasn’t as if she spent her nights thinking about you or anything.
That would be absolutely ridiculous.
Obsessive even!
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
When the next fight between the two of you occurred, it had been almost a year to the day after the first one.
It took place on the same street, at the same time of day.
The only difference?
This was now an official Street Fight.
As it turns out, in the year since the first showdown the two of you had, both of you had made names for yourselves.
Everyone was here.
Everyone.
And now, the showdown was set to begin.
Punch for punch.
Kick for kick.
The two of you were evenly matched, each of you pulling out everything the both of you knew to get an edge over the other.
The moves learned.
The moves copied.
Even the moves both of you had come up with yourselves.
But then, eventually, it came down to the both of you being on the ropes, one final move. For both of you.
You let out a hiss of air as flames engulfed you.
“Tiger-”
Sakura breathed deeply as lightning crackled around her.
“Shin-”
You launched forward and shouted “-DESTRUCTION!!!”
Sakura stepped past your attack as she fired off her own and shouted “SHORYUKEN!!!”
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
“Tell me, my student. Was the conversation you had an interesting one?” a voice from your memories asked you as you awoke, a smile on your face despite the pain you felt.
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
After that, things quickly snowballed between the two of you.
Both of you fought the other, both of you winning one and then losing the next.
It was a back and forth that everyone had gotten used to over time.
But then, something unexpected occurred.
The two of you hit it off, in a way that was different from the usual between you two.
And it was all thanks to a certain Kunoichi in training that anyone knew about it.
Rindo-Kan Karate was Makoto’s entire life.
Rindo-Kan Karate was her life blood.
It was how she went through life.
She never expected to meet someone similar to her in that regard.
But then she met you.
Someone who put as much pride in their Bajiquan as she did her Rindo-Kan.
Could there be anyone else to be her Rival?
Her brother teased her mercilessly with how much she went on about you.
But… he didn’t understand why she was so… attached to you.
She felt a connection, a sort of kinship with you.
She felt like she could come to you with her problems and that you could come to her with yours.
A sort of… peaceful feeling.
Like she had someone at her back whenever she needed that extra push to go farther than she ever could before.
A strength that only ever came when she thought or talked about you.
And eventually, although she did not truly know it, she fell for you.
You, in turn, fell for her.
Despite that, neither of you were all too quick to come off of it.
Neither of you wanted to lose your friend and rival.
Neither of you wanted to lose the person who gave them the strength to push further than ever before.
Eventually however, Makoto tossed caution to the wind.
And to this day, she is glad she did.

"If you want some, come get some, pretty boy," Billy teases, his footwork synchronised to the beat of Survivor's Eye of the Tiger. Anticipation is in the air, each working punch a testament to Billy's relentless pursuit of perfection.
"You talk too much, for a loudmouth yourself," Steve remarked, narrowly avoiding a left jab. Boxing is Billy and Steve's favourite pastime, and the ring is their haven after a long day at work. As such, Billy relies on defence strategies in the veins of kickboxing, while Steve relies on his agility and the technical finesse he gained from his Muay Thai lessons.
Their conversation is interspersed between rounds, and a camaraderie rises from the furnace of their competition. Billy and Steve fostered a deeper connection for boxing, as they pushed to improve themselves, and their resiliency towards life's obstacles. Out of a sudden, Steve got distracted from Billy's jab and got hit by Billy's right hook. "Lights out, pretty boy!" Billy yells. Steve falls to the floor, the impact of the fall echoing through the ring. After taking a moment to busk in his victory, Billy walks over and seemingly offers his hand for Steve, a sign to help him up.
As their hands clasped, Billy whispered, "I told you to plant your feet." after noticing that Steve had regained composure from the blow. Instead of lifting him up, Billy puts Steve's hand and walks off. "What was that for?" Steve remarked, unsure of Billy's gesture.
"In life, it's all about getting up by yourself after getting knocked down. While it's good to have friends, there are some things you have to do on your own, and that is today's lesson." "Oh." Steve quipped, trying to soak in the lesson that was taught to him. It eventually dawned on him—the essence of boxing isn't just about winning, but the lessons learnt from defeat and rising up from them. Steve gets up and pants towards Billy. "Good fight," he extends a hand towards Billy. "Looks like you got a fire in you, huh," Billy smiles, acknowledging the handshake. "No matter what, you'll always be King Steve to me."

I was thinking about Ranma fighting a fighting game character again and I landed on Sagat. This isn't because of some deep reason, just 'cause Sagat is a 7'5 Muay Thai champion, so the visual of Ranma fighting this behemoth using his acrobatics would be really fun. I can see Ranma holding onto Sagat's gigantic limbs to dodge his moves, and Sagat trying to shake him off. It be hilarious.
Though character-wise, Sagat used to be driven fighter after losing to Ryu, Street Fighter's protag, but eventually found inner peace and decided to fight as a way to communicate with his opponents, seeking more than just victory. And considering how important winning is Ranma whenever he is challenged, I can see them having a nice conversation where Sagat tells Ranma not to lose sight of the meaning of fighting, and of the cozy if a bit chaotic life he got for himself.
Also, this is going to sound very mean, but the visual of Ranma taking a Tiger Knee from these legs to his stomach made me laugh so hard. I know Ranma' is very durable, but I do think he stay on the floor for a few hours after being hit with this.

So BG3 is currently holding a chokehold on me and I can't help but think of hetasean dnd au. I'll try to limit this to PHB and 5e for simplicity reasons. also sorry I'm not a seasoned DND player at all i played one casual campaign but only actually understood the mechanics after playing bg3 LOL im a highly kinetic-visual person
Vietnam: Any tanky build will do as such I was thinking an atheist paladin would be funny lol. She is definitely the one with the most hands-on experience in battle. Proficient with polearms and shields. I see her more leaning towards martial classes, so like barbarian or fighter. probably fighter. Looks Lawful but actually Chaotic. Hmm... maybe Neutral Good?
Thailand: Monk for the muay thai coolness. Not sure about his subclass tho... most of them don't sound lethal and brutal enough. Definitely Lawful Evil.
Malaysia: At first I was thinking of a gunslinger build (just so I can give him a loooooong boy ala Malacca era) but the fighter subclass, because he doesn't come off as the artificer type to me. Either that or barbarian for the tiger rage. Now him being a druid would allow him to actually turn into a tiger, but honestly Mal as a character doesn't seem so druid-y to me--Oh wait. he skips meetings to catch sea creatures and talks about social harmony... maybe he could be a druid. Chaotic Good.
Singapore: Any class that relies on high INT, like wizard . Ok I said I'd limit to PHB but war magic is so him. The other schools just doesn't scream poisoned shrimp enough for me. Lawful Neutral.
Indonesia: At first I was thinking of cleric to match his worldflags counterpart but Indo as a warlock is a delicious thought. Besides, Pact of Talisman mechanic sounds like typical indo black magic shenanigans. Of course the talisman must be a haunted ornate keris. Then later another idea came: what if he's a multiclass bard-monk?? The mechanics match up with pesilat Betawi as it's tradition to roast your opp with pantun (type of Malay poem) before commencing the beating. So like, Vicious Mockery -> Flurry of Blows . but if Thai is already a monk, Indo will have to relinquish that role for diversity reasons. I'm on the fence between True Neutral and Chaotic Neutral.
Philippines: Him being a bard is a no-brainer because filipinos and singing!!11!!! also after playing a bard, there seem to be more of roasting a dude than singing But hear me out: deadly dex-based fighter. Or since he already has Pien, why not a beast master ranger? If we really need to play that Catholic Trauma™ then Piri could be a cleric. never paladin tho. Two-weapon proficiency, twin blades because he's a gemini. Same alignment as Indo awww twinning!!! but leaning more on chaotic
this is still a brainstorming post maaaaybe I'll draw their designs some day...... what do y'all think???? I'd like to hear some suggestions 🙌

Here's my SF oc, Linjee!
I still couldn't decide which official design I should go with, so here's more than one sketch of her outfits to get the idea of what her aesthetics are LOL
She's also practices muay thai and a student of Sagat(I FUCKING MISS HIM BRO, CAPCOM BRING HIM BACK), though her style of muay thai is a bit more acrobatic to make up for her short stature. Her rival is Adon, though it's a bit one-sided since Adon looks down on her for being a student of 'the Tiger who lost his fangs' and she couldn't stand the slander being directed at Sagat
Why did I put so much thought into it
AHHHH! OMG, I love your OC! She's so pretty. More OCs with alt fashion!!
I haven't heard of Sagat and Adon in ages. Capcom please bring back the older loveable characters in SF6!
I also wanted to learn Muay Thai and I was gonna take classes if I didn't get into my Rad school. But luckily I did, so maybe I'll try it after :)
Thank you for sending your OC in, I love them! 💖

@ofcrossroads said: ❛ hold still. this might sting a little. ❜ (Chifuyu to Kazutora)
random assortment of sentence starters
Kazutora gives a low hum in acknowledgement, sparing a brief glance towards the disinfectant and bandages sitting on the counter before looking towards Chifuyu. " Don't worry, I won't move. " He promises. " Thanks for doing this for me. Kinda hard to deal with injuries around my backside by myself. "
Does the battered, scraped wounds hurt? Sure. But tonight is the calmest that Kazutora has felt in ages. It shows in his whole posture, from the relaxed shoulders to the slow, cat-like blinking of golden eyes, to more noise than words. The itch under his skin has been soothed, no longer driving him to wanting to claw out of his own skin like a prison cell. All that's left is something calm and nearly docile. ( Not quite, because docile never quite fits the tiger, but certainly relaxed. ) He lets silence hang in the air before he begins to speak.
" I tried that Muay Thai class being advertised around lately. My therapist said it might be good for me. " Kazutora doesn't often talk much about therapy or what happens there. Sometimes he says if it was good or bad but rarely brings up specifics. Other times its obvious from his mannerism alone, especially the rough sessions. But crammed into the small bathroom with Chifuyu trying to help patch a wound from a fall, he decides to. " Honestly, he was pushing it for a while for me to do something in the martial arts or something like that. He thought it'd be good for me and a healthy outlet. I was just scared to try. " Chifuyu was right, it did sting a bit. He's had far worse though and doesn't bat an eyelash at it. " Just. Given my history and all. " He shrugs and immediately stops when he remembers the order to hold still. His voice however perks up when he continues. " But it was actually really nice! And fun too. "
His gold eyes watch Chifuyu in the mirror, trying to gauge the other's reaction to his words. Like he's searching for approval or disapproval. He's not sure how well Chifuyu will take it. " Given my background and all, I was ahead of a lot of people other than the actual combinations. So I gotta do a lot of that. But the instructors were real chill and so were the people. It felt good. Lots of safety measures in place though things can still happen obviously. " If anything he seems rather proud of it though. " I was thinking I'd stick with it, at least for a while and see how it goes. It's Tuesdays and Thursdays so I'll probably go right after we close, or a few minutes early if that's okay? " He could do a lot of the closing tasks a bit earlier so Chifuyu didn't have to do any at the end.
" And there's a competition in a little over a month that I might enter if I do stick with it. They said I'd probably do really good. You should come. " Kazutora tears his eyes away from the mirror to turn his head to look at Chifuyu in the dim lighting. " I mean, if you're not busy when it's occurring. Or if it interests you. If it doesn't or it's too close to old memories I totally get that though." He rushes out in a quick attempt to offer Chifuyu ways out of the invitation so he doesn't feel he HAS to go just because Kazutora invited him. " Don't wanna bore you on a day off, you deserve that rest " He laughs sheepishly and glances towards the sink. " I just...thought it might be nice? "

I sent this to teddy already but i feel like you would enjoy this knowledge too
This is Sagat. 7'5, extremely powerful, a former king of Shadaloo, regarded in-universe as the Emperor of Muay Thai
This is Willa Maiu, a siberian tiger Sagat raised from a cub
According to someone on Reddit, "willa" is derived from an archaic thai word for cat, while "maiu" is a mistranslation of either the sound a cat makes, or the actual thai word for cat.
Which means Sagat named his tiger the Thai equivalent of Kitty Cat or Meow Meow.
WILLA MAIU I LOVE YOU

mma MMA Tigers Program Age 3 to 13,13 to 35, years is enough time to learn a lot, MMA Tigers Program Age 3 to 13,13 to 35, years is enough time to learn a lot, it gives you time to focus on your overall growth as a fighter and time to focus on other things as well, while you prepare. It actually took me about 4 years before my first amateur fight, but for about 2 of that I was out of commission with knee and shoulder issues, and I had some mental issues that sidetracked me as well. Although, I was coaching wrestling during much of this time and getting on the mat pretty much every day I was physically able. I also had no coach or instructors until I was 3-13 fights in. I won all of 3 -13 of these fights without being hit except from some ill-advised wild punches from the bottom, and already had a title.(mmatigers.com )(mmatigersdelhi.com). Unlike Boxing which only allows punches such as jabs and uppercuts, MMA allows for a wide range of strikes. The strikes allowed in MMA include elbows, knees, kicks, and spinning back fists. MMA fighters can incorporate a variety of fighting styles such as Tae Kwon Do, Muay Thai, and Karate to win.
